Great teacher! Wants students to learn and do well. This is a tought class, but Warren is a great teacher.
Brother Brunson is the greatest teacher in the world, his class is comparatively easier to other MCOM 320. If you tried, you will have an A in this class, highly recommended because i have learned so much from that guy
best teacher you'll ever have
His class was awesome! Rather than throwing a ton of stuff at you that you will forget at the end of the semester, he teaches the basic important stuff that you won't forget. His class will prepare you a lot for settings you will encounter in your professional life. Yes, compared to other MCOM 320 classes, it is a little easier.
Take MCOM from this professor. His lessons are extremely practical and use all real life experiences. He knows what he's talking about. He'll work with you if you have extenuating cir****stances. Very easy to understand. He teaches you exactly what you need to know to get a good grade. He's probably easiest, but you learn the most.
Awesome teacher. He does seem to like the athletes more but he doesn't grade unfairly. He teaches the important stuff and it seems he doesn't give any bad grades
This guy is great, extremely flexible with assignments and will always give the benefit of the doubt when grading. If you have to take MCOM do yourself a favor and take his class
Sweet Class, great guy. I loved taking this class form him. He is really concerned with having his students succeed. My only complaint is that sometimes he went over at the end of class, but it wasn't a big deal, if you wanted to leave you could.
You wanna take a fair MCOM course? You wanna learn what is really important in writing? Look no further that Warren Brunson. This class started at 7:00 pm and ended at 9:50 pm and I wanted to go every time. He will talk about football but all the grades are fair no matter who you are. Take it from him!
Professor Brunson has an impeccable teaching style. The things I've learned have helped me in all my classes. This man is an incredible resource. You'd have to Google long and hard to find the quality of information you get in Brunson's class each week. Lazy students, stay clear. The material is not easy.
Prof. Brunson is awesome. He wants you to get a good grade and will do his best to get you an A in his class. His grading is very fair. I hear Rockwood is the best, but I'm sure Brunson is a close second.
Mr. Brunson is amazing!!! He is very laid back and fun yet manages to be academically demanding at the same time. He teaches you very important and useful stuff. He keeps the interest high during class and we never get bored considering the class is three hour long. Overall a VERY lovely teacher :)
This class is very basic. He lectures for three hours because he has to but 95 to 100 percent of us were checking facebook and ESPN during his lectures and he didn't really care. Honestly the way to succeed in this class is to do well on the grammar stuff.
I would not recommend this professor. Guidelines for assignments were very vague and wide-open, but then the assignments were graded with ridiculous strictness. Lectures were hard to stay awake for, and although I did well in the class, this course was a nightmare and a headache. Take it from someone else for sure.
Loved having this professor! He does a very good job of keeping class active enough to stay awake and he provides a break in the middle of class. Very intelligent in business in general and provides great insights. Very flexible for student and helpful. Would recommend to anyone!
OK I don't know why this guy has such good reviews. He sucks so bad! Don't take class from him, it's miserable! You will never have clear instructions on any of the assignments. Also, this guy is so full of himself and his ideas of resumes and cover letter are WAY outdated!
This guy is one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you work hard and participate in class, he'll like you and he'll help you even more than he already does. Although the class isn't super easy, he makes it entertaining and you'll learn a lot. I really enjoyed this class and I'd take him again in a heartbeat.
Brother Brunson is a pretty solid teacher with a lot of real world knowledge about business writing. The principles he teaches are still very applicable, even if some of his ideals may be a little dated. Take advantage of the peer grading before you turn in the assignment, he is also willing to look at your papers before you submit them.
Nice guy, useful class, but I'd avoid it though on the basis of grading. Lots of tedious assignments that are impossible to get full points on. Grammar test was ridiculous - class average was a 67% Worked my butt off and pulled a B+. Pretty sad that he makes the class so hard that he has to CURVE it. Not an easy option to get your GE credit.
I loved Brother Brunson. His lectures were great, and he really knows what he is talking about. You can't just breeze through the class, but he is more than willing to give you help if you ask for it. I definitely recommend him.
If you want to take M Com, but not have the stress of hard assignments take Brunson. He usually teaches at night, but his class structure is awesome. I have friends that where dying with M Com assignments, and with Professor Brunson, the pace is awesome. He also has the industry experience which he will share a lot during lectures.
Mr. Brunson is a very reasonable teacher. I had to miss some class/turn in some assignments late and he was super cool about it. It's almost impossible to get full credit on any of his assignments, he's a pretty hard grader. It's not an "easy" class, but he'll work with you and it's totally doable.
Brother Brunson is a good man and a thoughtful professor. He's well organized and very articulate. Try as you may, it's difficult to get full points on assignments. He shares entertaining insights/experiences, but occasionally goes off track. I would recommend him to a friend for M COM 320.
Brunson has lots of stories. He makes the 2 1/2 hour class a lot longer than it really needs to be. Other than that, I would take his class again. It isn't nearly as heavy as other MCOM classes. I learned a lot about how to succeed in business without being destroyed by an obnoxious amount of assignments.
I would highly recommend Brunson for this class! The class is 2 1/2 half hours, but it never feels that long. I hate writing classes, but Brunson made this one pretty doable. You have one assignment due every week and it is usually peer reviewed the week before. It is super hard to get full credit on the assignments though. Never say the word LIKE!
The dude loves to talk. The class doesn't need to be 2.5 hours. He is very unclear on what is required on his assignments. They aren't hard but if you don't know what the requirements are you won't do well. He's a pretty good guy, but the major knock on this class is how he is so unclear on what is expected for the assignments. Grammar test is hard
This guy is an easy MCOM professor. He rambles a lot, but he's really nice. I put in very little effort and got an A. I sometimes skipped class, and he was accommodating if I notified him ahead of time. I'm really glad I took MCOM from him. MCOM is hard to get A's in general, but this is an easier option than the norm.
Professor Brunson is very kind, caring, and easily accessible. He grades pretty easily. The class itself was not very hard. The only thing to watch out for is his lack of communication about deadlines/rubrics. He often changed due dates or didn't explain assignment details until a couple days before the due date. Overall, a pretty easy A.
Since it was an online class, the structure was not as traditional. I think Brother Brunson cares about who he teaches and what he does and it shows, even in an online course. The worst part of this class is that grammar exam, but you do that no matter who your professor is.
Overall a great experience. Professor Brunson made himself very available for questions and seemed to really care about students. I also appreciated the flexibility of an online class. The only complaint I have is the structure of the class - the group assignments were confusing and there were some incorrect dates/technical problems.
Taking the class online was great overall but had its drawbacks. There was a lack of communication throughout the semester, due dates weren't posted until week of sometimes and project expectations were ambiguous. This being said, in the end it didn't really matter. Grades were fair based on what was communicated.
Professor Brunson is an awesome professor. I was a little hesitant to take his class online, but I had a great experience. Professor Brunson is always willing to meet with me to look over my assignments and give me feedback on how to improve. He is very flexible and works with students. From what I saw, he really wants his students to succeed.
Professor Brunson is really good at being flexible with your schedule. This is an online class so he knows you're generally busy which is why you couldn't be on campus to take it. He genuinely wants you to succeed in this course and be able to apply your skills to the professional world.
Professor Brunson is by far the best choice for MCOM. Take his online class. He puts the time in to make sure you understand the content and assignment instructions. Be ready for the grammar test. It's super hard. Professor Brunson is a hard grader, but gives very specific feedback which is very helpful! Overall a great online class experience.
Professor Brunson is very kind and is always available when you need him. Some of the assignments are really dumb, but they are for every student in MCOM so no matter who you have you'll have to do it. He's a tough grader, but his feedback is incredible.
I loved Professor Brunson! He is really nice and super willing to help in any way. I enjoyed the assignments and reading. There is one group project which, as usual, can be difficult depending on your group. He was very clear on his grading criteria so I always felt confident turning in my assignments. There are online zoom calls once a week.
This is the way to do MCOM (meaning, do the BYU online version with Professor Brunson)! I still learned a lot, but I think this version is much more manageable than the on-campus. Professor Brunson is empathetic and caring--he is always there to help the "one."
This is the way to do MCOM (meaning, the online version with Professor Brunson! He is very empathetic and willing to help the "one." His individual engagement helped me to learn so much more than I would have with another professor.
I took this as a senior and did online because senioritis has made it very difficult to attend class. Professor Brunson is easy to get in contact with. He set up a very reasonable course with pretty much no assignments that I felt were worthless. His class is well managed and he grades reasonably as well. I really liked him. No qualms here.
Professor Brunson is a great professor who cares about his students and makes the time to help when needed. He is easy to reach and understanding when special circumstances arise and is happy to work with you if something is unclear. I did MCom online and he made the class run as smoothly as possible. Definitely recommend taking this class from him
This online class was a great way to free up a busy semester schedule. As far as English classes go, this was one of the few I've taken that actually seems useful in the real world. Professor Brunson is a clear and no-nonsense professor. Assignments were low-stress, quick, and straightforward.
Professor Brunson is great. I really enjoyed his feedback. The course content is interesting most of the time. However, the grammar test is the hardest part of the class. In conclusion, I highly recommend Professor Brunson.
Took MCOM 320 online. Definitely would recommend his class! The online version is way more laid back! Professor Brunson has optional lectures each week and is always available via text. Assignments are pretty straightforward and actually useful. One grammar exam which isn't bad, and a final written report as your "final". I enjoyed this class!
Prof Brunson cares a lot and he is so nice! He really knows a lot and gives really good constructive feedback.
There were a lot of assignments during the semester. Most of them were pretty relevant to the content of the class. Prof Brunson is a nice guy. You have to pace yourself in the class and keep up with all the papers and discussion boards.
Prof Brunson is a great guy. He is very approachable with any problems you may encounter. I took the online section of this class and it was very easy to manage all of the due dates and get all the needed information to do well. Brunson holds a weekly online video lecture that is helpful for that week's assignments.
Great Teacher
Professor Brunson is a great teacher and man! He goes above and beyond for his students. The classwork is extremely applicable to the real world. I highly highly recommend taking his class.
Professor Brunson is really caring and kind. Sometimes I felt like the assignment instructions weren't very clear, but he's really easy to reach if you need help. He hosts weekly video calls which are really helpful.
Great class. I always avoiding MCOM because I heard it was so hard. I took it my final semester of BYU, and it wasn't bad at all. If you are a good self-learner, this class is a great option for MCOM. He is a tough grader, but the material is doable. Hardest part is the grammar test!
I took the online MCOM320 class; I enjoy online usually, but this is a terrible online course. Reading is very boring and feels self-explanatory, and then youre torn apart by specifics in assignments. Professor Brunson is a nice and good man, but limited interaction makes the online section not worth it.
Loved professor Brunson, he is willing to help you actually become a better communicator! Great course!
You learn a lot of good career skills in this class, but there are a lot of little assignments.
Prof Brunson was accessible and helpful as a teacher. The class was pretty disorganized. Due dates were listed incorrectly and directions for assignments were unclear. However, Prof. Brunson made himself available so that those things didn't negatively affect my grade.
Professor Brunson is awesome. He is super accessible and always wants to help. I was able to turn to him many times with questions and his responses were prompt and helpful. The class requires a bit of time, but you'll be fine as long as you stick to the schedule and stay on top of your work. I learned so much from this class!
Professor Brunson was awesome! He was easily available outside of class and he was great to get back to me if I needed help. I learned a lot in his class!
The grading criteria was not very specific. I was always confused on assignments. I lost small points on assignments without any feedback so I didn't know what I needed to fix. Overall a pretty light workload, but the grammar test was really hard and it didn't need to be. I studied forever and didn't do well. Glad to be done with this class
Since this is an online class, there isn't a lot of interaction with Professor Brunson. However, he is a very nice man and is willing to help when needed. The class wasn't organized very well, but I think it was fairly easy taking it online. I feel like I would have learned more in an actual classroom setting.
Took the course online.
This class was very poorly organized. Assignments were assigned after the were due. For an online class about communication, I expected more clarity. The assignments were hard to know what exactly the teacher wanted and he took off lots of points for tiny things that weren't in the instructions.
Very manageable work load. Great online course. The group project was a little challenging since it was an online class.
MCOM 320 online is definitely worth it. There were a lot of assignments (not too difficult) but all of them were straightforward and applicable. This class isn't organized very well online, so lots of assignments snuck up fast because they were not in order on the calendar. Prof. Brunson is awesome and wants students to succeed in his class!
Dr. Brunson was very good about giving feedback and engaging with our work. He made sure that we understood what we needed to work on, and was very helpful in letting us know what we had done well. He gave direct feedback after our interviews and projects, and also gave direct feedback on papers. Very invested in helping us learn.
I appreciated the professor, but I didn't love the class. I am not a business major and I found the class to be very difficult. There are a couple of point-heavy assignments that are graded very hard, and if you're not the best writer, they might destroy you. Overall, the professor is kind and accessible when you need him which I appreciated.
It doesn't matter which professor you take this course from, it will be difficult. That being said, the online portion of this class allows for flexible learning and the professor is relatively helpful. There is a large group project and a final project that are long and difficult, but most assignments are short.
His class was very well-structured, and it was easy to find the information that you need to pass. He was always helpful, like when I missed a big report on accident, he understood and gave me the chance to make it up.
He's easy to talk to. Responds quick (texts). Only thing that is rough is the grammar test but you can get a good grade if you do well on everything else. Pretty easy, but still some work. Take online.
Very tedious work but most useful class at BYU.
Online class, so I honestly felt a lack of motivation for most of the semester. I think Dr. Brunson is a really good man with a ton of expertise. I took an online class because I thought it would be easier, and I think it was. I actually wish I could have taken an in person class from him because I think he has a lot to teach and could help us alot
He is super nice and helpful when needed. I will say there is quite a bit of homework and it can be time consuming. Also, the group project was very inconvenient with this being an online class. It was hard to meet with people and work on it together.
I felt that at times I was weighted more heavily in areas where I didn't do so well, without accounting for areas I actually did do well in. I had great content in my papers, but was marked down significantly because it was not presented with world-class font and spacing. I felt the content was much more important.
A lot of busy work. Professor Brunson is very good with helping out his students.
Of all the M Comm professors I could have taken this class from, I am glad it was from Warren Brunson. He graded kindly and was always willing to help when it was needed. I will say though, the course content was very confusing to follow, with all the assignments out of order on canvas. Stay ahead of assignments, and the class isn't too bad.
Class does not require much time, but I was severely disappointed with the feedback given on multiple assignments. He took off major points for "long paragraphs," and he encouraged the use of out-dated business terminology. Also, the teaching on effective powerpoint decks is awful and completely contradicts anything I've ever seen a business make.
I'm a math ed major, and I took this class for the advanced written and oral communication credit. I learned a lot of really great, applicable information in this class: grammar, resume dos and don'ts, and email etiquette. There were also many things I was expected to know how to do that I didn't and that was very frustrating.
Professor Brunson is amazing, honestly the best teacher I've had at BYU. He is very open and easy to get a hold of, isn't necessarily easy but he is always available and wants you to succeed. He cares more about learning than annoying class policies like lots of BYU professors do.
Professor Brunson was great. Very easy to communicate with, and none of the assignments were complicated or anything. Do the work and you'll learn and get a decent grade.
It was an online class and MCOM is apparently the same regardless of professor. But I really liked Professor Brunson. I think he is realistic, nice, and gives good quality feedback. As far as MCOM goes, I would highly recommend Professor Brunson.
Brunson is a great guy who's always willing to help. However, the organization of his class made it very difficult to keep up with. The class is divided up into weekly modules. But I quickly found that assignments listed in week 7 module were due during week 4. So you had to constantly be looking weeks ahead to make sure you didn't miss a due date.
Honestly this class was GREAT. I have a lot of hard classes and this class was pretty lax in comparison. I learned a lot, the stuff is really useful, and he totally works with you. You'll learn a good deal on how to improve your grammar. The assignments CAN be fun if you're creative. The best part too is because its online its super flexible!!!
Brunson does a good job. It is the right amount of work for an online class. The grammar exam is the hardest part of the class. Other than the test I really enjoyed what I learned and the homework was not too bad.
He responds to every text/email you send. He is the BEST!
He was responsive to every email and worked well with everyone. He made sure to grade fairly as well.
I like how we could reach professor Brunson on his cell phone if we had any questions concerning the class. The class was very hard for me and there were many assignments due each week.
Professor Brunson is an awesome guy. The class was great and I learned a lot. He grades pretty generously, but is picky at the same time. Textbook is free (online), and you have lifelong access to the useful things in there. Overall, I felt like I actually learned in this class and wasn't stressed about grades for once.
Professor Brunson cares about your learning and wants you to develop useful lifelong skills. He is also very willing to answer questions and is available over call, email, or text. Very kind and fair teacher.
Professor Brunson is super nice and accommodating. He is also clear, if you talk to him. However, if you go by what he's posted alone, you'll get confused. He's just not great at making Canvas accessible and intuitive. He changes where he puts the grading criteria for each assignment. He just needs to (ironically) organize the content better.
The grammar test was a joke. Questions like choose the most correct or least correct sentence made it extremely difficult despite studying efforts. Tons of busy work, so I spent a lot of time on this class. Loved that Brunson was available via text. Pretty vigorous group project at the end of the semester.
Professor Brunson is amazing. He works hard to help students grasp and apply the material. I procrastinated taking MCOM because I'd heard it's a nightmare, but it really wasn't bad. You should definitely take MCOM with Brunson!
The online textbook is really nice because it is free and succinct. Canvas was not organized that well - especially for a Management Communications class, it was quite lacking.
Professor Brunson is great. He really wants the best for his students. The class is challenging. Professor Brunson grades fairly and is very responsive.
Good class
Great class! I did poorly on the first exam which is why I ended with a B. Brunson gives you chances to succeed. Even with the exam that I took there was an option for a re take.
Great teacher, with good morals in wanting students to pass as long as they do their part.
Professor Brunson is a great choice for MCOM320 and he was very helpful whenever I needed any sort of help. Loved the different assignments we did and felt that they were all very applicable for future writing.
Brunson was a decent choice as far as MCom professors go. The fact that it was online made it nice, but he wasn't always the best about communicating assignments and projects, and sometimes took a long time to grade things
This class was easy to keep up in and easy to get a good grade in. My only disappointment is that I constantly felt unsure of what was going on because canvas was utilized poorly. The modules were confusing. This class would have been 100% better if there had been recorded lectures to go along with content. The book wasn't great.
I have no problem with Professor Brunson, in fact, I thought he was a fair grader. I also liked how he gave thorough feedback on almost every assignment. However, my problem is with the faculty who designed the course. There is way too much busywork! The amount of work you have to do each week makes you lose sight of how great of a course this is.
Professor Brunson is a great person -- super friendly and nice. But he's not a great teacher. After reading the feedback he gave on my papers, it felt like he expected me to read his mind or the feedback contradicted the rubric. For some of the assignments, I had to clue why I got docked points. He made this class harder than it needed to be.
