Good prof. He knows what he's talking about very well and explains things with examples that are easy to understand. Exams are not that hard if you go to lectures and study a little.

Dr. Fincher is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. he made the class fun to sit through. His class is easy as long as you put effort into it. He can be confusing sometimes when he uses words that no one has ever heard before, but other than that, he's awesome. He'll go above and beyond to help the student succeed. A++

Instead of copying off the powerpoint listen to what he says first. Most exam questions come from what he says not the powerpoint

Dr. Warren Fincher is what every professor at a university should strive to be. He's so into his subject and loves it, and it makes his students love it as well. Although he may use a bit too much jargon, I believe it actually helps because you are always immersed in an intellectual atmosphere. He is just great, my favorite professor yet.

Awesome teacher!!! I loved his course so much that I made sure to take one of his 200 level soc classes as well. He is very helpful but exams are very tedious. Study for the daily quizzes and listen to his colorful and amazing lectures and you will do fine :) Always in a good mood as well! Never a bad or boring class :)

I got along with him great! He loves what he does and he tries to make it so that everyone understands. The only way to do bad in his class is if YOU don't ask for help when it is needed. He is always available by appointment and will gladly sit down and explain things if you need help. He is my favorite prof.

Very nice and energetic prof he likes to talk to the class in an informal manner and wants to know your opinion if it benefits to the class discussion. His exams consists of quiz questions you take throughout the semester and refer to readings he assigns on vspace. He also makes adjustments to due dates if they are to overwhelming which is nice.

Felt class was a bit too focused on homosexuality. seemed like almost every lecture involved that topic to some degree. otherwise he was awesome. gave daily quizzes which sounds harsh but really helped for exams and he let you make them up if you missed them. very funny and engaging. not alot of homework but some small projects.

Professor Fincher is an awesome guy! He is a great teacher and his lectures are always interesting. He is very enthusiastic and will make you laugh. His class is pretty easy and he gives you study guides for exams. However, if you ever have questions he is there for you. He responds to emails very quickly and encourages office hours which I like.

Great professor! Explains things in an engaging way. Very few homework assignments. There are daily quizzes which are actually very helpful for the exams. When taking the exams, the vocabulary is difficult. If you ask him to explain it to you in a different way, it is very easy. I recommend him as a professor!

He was one of my favorite professors. Attendance wasn't mandatory and I still never missed a single class. He makes the class fun and I learned a lot. Would definitely recommend him.

What a great teacher! I had him as my last class of the day every Monday and Wednesday and he made lecture so interesting that I actually looked forward to the class. I'm a chemistry major and I would definitely recommend taking one of his classes!

Wrote 3 papers one being a term paper was 12 pages long but that's a CI class for you. His vocabulary is moderate look it up if you need to and learn thats college

Professor Fincher is one of the best professors Ive had at SVSU. He is very clear during class on what you need to know. You only have 3 exams that aren't cumulative and three small homework assignments throughout the semester. There's also weekly quizzes that are super easy and he uses the same exact quiz questions on your exam. Highly recommended

There are 3 assignments and 3 non cumulative exams. Listen more to what he is saying in his lectures rather than paying attention to the power points. He is very helpful and nice, I failed my first exam and then met with him and got an 84% on my second.

Fincher is probably the best professor I've ever had. Light reading, non-cumulative exams, quizzes you get the questions to ahead of time, engaging lectures. He also works to meet everyone one on one and is always revising his classes to reduce stress and make sure that his students are actually thinking about concepts critically.

Professor FIncher is by far my favorite so far at SVSU. I have him for Soc. 111 and i was very happy with having him as a professor. He is clear on what is to be expected on the exams and he explains things better than any of my other professors. He even posts the weekly quizzes online so you know what you should be studying!

He's super helpful and wants his students to do well. He'll explain things differently if you don't understand what he's saying. His lectures are pretty interesting and he tries to keep people involved. His tests are kind of hard, but you can do really well if you know the stuff on the study guide. I will definitely take him again any chance I get!

I thought he was a great guy. I looked forward to going to class; he's funny and makes things interesting. Explains everything clearly, gives quiz questions prior to the actual quiz, and does everything he can to help out. Emailed students often to keep them up to date and always smiled at me if I saw him outside of class. Great guy, take him!

Mr. Fincher is very smart and understands what he is teaching. He communicates well and uses clear examples during lectures. His tests can be difficult especially if you don't study. You need to know the material to understand the questions. He does ask questions from the textbook and supplemental reading so you can't get away with not reading.

I loved having Mr.Fincher. The class is very fun and interesting. I enjoyed going to class. His test were easy, especially if you studied. The only con is see about him is that he can be very irritated when he thinks your texting or on your laptop playing games.

He is very enthusiastic and wants everyone to understand material. You will never be bored by his lectures. He does make you think on projects, tests and quizzes(have question in advance for quiz, but you must justify your answer).

While the topic of sociology is probably the most terrible thing ever created, Dr. Fincher is highly knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. He used clear examples for every concept and all the tests and assignments reinforced the topics he wanted everyone to learn. If you have to take SOC I would definitely reccomend.

The best professor I have ever had. His lectures are so intriguing. There were 3 exams and 3 assignments. He gives weekly quizzes which he gives you the quiz to review. He is a pretty easy grader and very helpful. He has a moderate vocabulary, so if you don't understand, don't hesitate to visit during office hours. I highly recommend him!

Amazing professor. He is so bubbly and nice. There is 3 exams, all of which need to be studied for. Lot of dense information, but that's a gen ed class for ya. He is very helpful and he cares a lot about each student. He is a very easy grader. I'm not a Soc major, but I got a B. My class was a 7-10 but he was so energetic, I wasn't tired or bored.

He is THE BEST teacher! He'll do anything to help you pass and deeply cares about your understanding of the subject if you care about it. His tests are a must study for, but he is lenient towards some questions. His quizzes are super easy and the exact quiz is on vspace so if you look at it and get the questions, you'll be fine!

Dr. Fincher is THEE GREATEST Prof. at SVSU!! He goes so far above and beyond, and out of his way to make sure the students are understanding and successfully accomplishing his classes! This is the fourth class I have taken with him and if I could I would take all of my classes with him. He is a bit intense, but most knowledgeable & enthusiatic!

You can clearly tell that he really has a passion for what he is doing. His lectures are engaging, entertaining, and you really learn the material when he is talking. He always offers hep, but he is almost impossible to contact outside of class or office hours, however he does give a lot of office hours so it makes up for that.

Overall a good professor. He weights Social Investigations a lot even though they are only 30 points each. Gives you a study guide for the exams and they are only cumulative over that section.

Professor Fincher was the first "math" class I've ever taken that I've actually passed. He really does care about his students passing and is always there to help you. Go to his office hours for extra help. Really great professor. Sometimes moved too fast.

He doesn't take attendance but I still attended every class because he gets very involved with each student and sets no one up to fail. He will stay after class to help with homework assignments and his tests are not hard as long as you pay attention during class

Best math class I've taken. Finch really cares for his students, breaks the math down very clearly, spends tons of time helping.

Interesting class and good professor. The workload is a little high because it's a CI class, but the assignments build on each other so that the final paper is easier to write. Great lecture slides. I'll take him again.

His lectures are interesting and a lot of fun. He breaks them up with short videos and different kinds of conversations in small groups. Only three short papers and three tests (not cumulative).

Fantastic lectures especially the one on advertising at the end. Easy tests if you read. Always willing to talk during office hours.

Amazing Lectures. Quizzes every week and tells you which questions are going to be on them, but it barely affect your grade since they are weighted so low. Tests are tough, gives study guides which help. Hard to get A if you don't do well on each exam. Extra credit quiz at the end that gives you 5-6 extra points

I came into this class not really sure how I felt about his work load. He definitely keeps you busy throughout the semester but as long as you stay on track, you will do just fine. I HIGHLY recommend going to his office hours, not only do they help you in the class but you understand things so much better. Ask questions! Amazing professor.

By far my favorite professor!! Hes very considerate of his students and wont overload you with work, hes always available to help and answer questions, and his study guides are extremely helpful! For a stats course, he does an AMAZING job getting the concepts across during lecture. For the amount of content he has to squeeze in during class time, he does great. He uses funny ways of explaining concepts like "bag of cats"... He is always around during his scheduled office hours for extra help & never makes you feel bad for not understanding.

He is very caring and will change due dates for you in an emergency. He does give lectures every day but posts them after classes. You usually have quizzes once a week but the questions are posted before the day of the quiz. Make sure that you take your book to the class and read the assigned reading.

Professor Fincher is an amazing professor and definitely take him if you have the chance! There are three exams, all that come with study guides, three major class assignments, & weekly quizzes, which he gives you the questions to beforehand. Showing up to class, taking the quizzes, & doing the assigned readings will make this class fun & easy!

Professor Fincher really is a good teacher, but he made the class impossible. The midterm and final destroyed my grade because he assigns 3-4 long articles to read every single day, doesn't talk about them in class, and expects specific answers about them. On a positive side he does this stimulation for a few weeks that was really aawesome.

No class prepared me to get a job better than Research Methods. Fincher helps you step by step through your own research, and I never felt like I didn't have support. I left the class being able put a lot of skills on my resume. It's a lot of work but worth it.

This is an amazing class! Fincher does this simulation about India, and it is a lot of fun. You have to read and there are some map tests, but I really looked forward to the class, especially toward the end of the semester.

I hate math but this class was a good experience. I was able to get my math credit and Dr Fincher made statistics understandable. He's available outside of class a lot and that was very helpful too.

Professor Fincher is awesome! The class is global cultures but is mainly about India and the Partition that happened in 1947. There are 3 papers & 1 speech but are only about 600-800 words each. There is a midterm exam & a cumulative final exam. He provides a review to study. DO NOT WAIT LAST MINUTE TO DO WEEKLY READINGS SINCE HE HAS THEM ON EXAM!

Dr. Fincher is a great professor. His lectures are well thought through. The first half of the class was very lecture heavy, and there was a map quiz every week. The second half of the class was focused on a simulation of the independence of India. It was really fun, and I feel like I learned a lot. Great class.

Dr. Fincher is my favorite professor as of right now. I was just in his class and had missed the last two classes due to COVID, and he made sure I was able to follow the instruction and also allowed me to catch up on anything I have missed. He is extremely understanding and cares a lot about his students. 10/10 would recommend taking a class w/ him

This course is not an "Easy A," but it is one that makes you a better student and prepares you for graduate work in the field. Professor Fincher is one of the most supportive professors you'll have; he wants you to succeed and will provide you with the resources to do so.

Don't get me wrong, the assignments were HARD. You're going to learn so much material in a short amount of time. I did well in his class and the Final was the WORST. Professor Fincher however, was one of the kindest, caring, and understanding professors I've had. He was also really helpful and provided easy extra credit points. Just pay attention.

Took during spring, online gender studies, all discussions require textbook. Prof provides AMAZING feedback, class is organized well, heavier work load but manageable for sure. No tests or quizzes, all discussions and papers that are intriguing. Participate and you'll get a good grade! Super understanding and down to earth. Is allergic to 100%'s.

He is the best teacher I've ever had. He made coming to class both worth my time, but also very fun. He is super caring about his students and it was very clear he is passionate about the subject material. I think the best part of this class was his sense of humor. I laughed every day. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Had a great expierence with him! The class was a great mix between educational and interesting. Fincher really cares about his students inside and outside the classroom. Feedback for this clas was amazing; he recorded individual feedback videos (about 5 mins each) to explain his thoughts behind your grade and project. I would take him again!

Dr. Fincher has a clear passion for architecture and has carefully crafted a very fun learning experience for honors students. While the program we used to design our pieces was difficult, it was very rewarding to finish the class with the creation of our own building. There are no study guides for tests, so take notes and study them every night.

He is a great professor for Hon192. Truly cares about his students and has a clear passion for architecture. He did assigned a lot of reading which is difficult to keep up on. Take notes from the readings & lectures and study them before the midterm. Program used to build our building was not user friendly but the experience was rewarding.

While his assignments/instruction were more abstract than I personally like, and the program we had to use was not user friendly, the class was executed very well, and it was clear how the topic/activities could be applied to honors.
