Dr. Jones is a brilliant professor, you have to go to class and study alot but it is worth it. He is open to having meetings when you need help and gives very good lectures. TAKE NOTES that is the biggest thing but once you get it his class is the best
This guy is a great teacher, his class is pretty challenging and he starts out all hard core but he gives lots of bonus points and we got a take home multiple choice final and part of the last exam was take home too! He gives multiple choice tests!woohoo!
honestly there are better teachers to this teach anatomy at loyola. his class size is way too big and although he says he's willing to help in reality he isn't. lectures are unclear maybe perhaps due to the size of class.
He is the best biology professor.Very cool guy and very approachable.Class is fun lectures may be too fast, but read the material and take good class notes. May give one take home exam. took class in summer.
Very good professor..makes medical school histo a breeze! Take him! HE IS THE BEST
Dr. Jones is a great teacher! Yes it is hard and you need to buckle down and study alot but hes willing to help you when you need it. I really enjoyed the class. Take good notes, study hard and sit up-front in the lecture hall and you'll do great!
His class is WAY to fast. For those people that say that you need good notes..ha! is all I have to say. It is utterly impossible, he leaves the overhead notes on for 20 seconds and everyone has incomplete notes.
I took this class last year and it was okay. all you have to do is go to class all the time. apparently this year it's very hard to take good notes cause he puts up overheads for only about 20secs. well good luck to all future classes. study everyday!
Anatomy has been my favorite class thus far. Dr. Jones is a great teacher, he really knows his information , and handles the big class size very well. 5 of 15 Quizes count as extra pts. so if you don't miss any its near impossible not to get some ex.cr.
he is a very tough teacher. He goes by with the information very quickly and if you ask if expaline what he had just said...he goes off topic.
Dr. Jones is really really good. He definitely knows what he's talking about, and will willingly answer ques. after class/during office hours. SIT UP FRONT and learn how to take notes fast. Do workbook assignments, follow study guide, read text, do great.
Dr. Jones is a difficult teacher, and his course requires lots of time reading and studying, but it is worth it! The man knows his stuff, and by the end of the class, you will too!
Great teacher and very clear in lecture. However, the class is very hard. Very difficult to get an A. Most students pray they get a C in the class. This class requires A LOT of time and effort. Do the study guides and look over the notes everyday.
Great teacher! Makes class SO interesting. Tests are hard, but there are enough extra credit quizzes that it shouldn't be a problem if you show up to class.
Dr. jones is a great teacher. if you dont take him for at least one class you missed out, especially if your pre-med. There is some work involved, but it is do-able. Great preparation for medschool or nursing school.
Dr. Jones' class is very diffucult and time consuming. You have to review everyday including weekends to get the concept of the course and show up everyday because he has surprise extra credit quizzes.
Dr.Jones is pne of the smartest men I have ever met. He is really helpful and actually wants his students to do well. I am going to take as many classes from him as I can. To go to LUC and nto take a class from him is to miss out on one of the best Profes
a very knowledgable man. lectures can get boring and long, but what comes out of his mouth is on the exams. if you study and apply yourself you will do fine. extra credit quizzes very advantageuos. great class!
I really enjoyed this course. His tests are simple and clear, and very general. He also gives 5 extra credit quizes, so show up to class everyday and you can get lots of extra credit. He also curves. Take this man. He rocks!
He is a really good professor. This guy knows his stuff and his tests are easy to study for and he allows up to 125 extra credit points, its hard to get lower than a C in this class. Plus, he's a nice person.
this class is time consuming,if you dont have time PLEASE do not take it. I prayed to get a c out of his class and I still got a D+. You need to study and go to class everyday (MUST)! If you want an A i recommend not taking him because it doesnt come easy
It's bio, so of course it will be hard. He is a brilliant man and should be teaching some where better. He really knows what he is talking about and has an answer for every question. Take him.
I failed this class, I tried really hard but he teaches really fast that you need to be some kind of bio expert or really like bio to pass the class. its also a requirement for chem 152 so it sucks!!!
He is very enthusiastic. Gives 5 extra credit quizes for 125 points. Exams are a bit difficult, but the final is easy & the extra credit makes up for the exams. An A is easily attainable if you try.
Dr. Jones is awesome! He really knows his stuff and is very excited about anatomy. He is also extremely helpful - study his lecture notes, you don't really even have to read the book. His tests are challenging, but I got an A. Bunches-0- Extra Credit
great guy! mos def knows what he is talking about...gives you 5 extra credit quizzes throughout the semester to keep you on track and if you keep up with the reading and pay attention in class, garunteed an A. i learned SOOOOO much! i can so surgery now!!
Awesome class and great professor. he knows what he is talking about, hes very nice and hes available for help. He gives five xtra credit quizes worth 125 points, i dont understand how u cant earn and A in the class.
must study & go to class but what a smart man! knows his stuff & is enthusiastic about it!pop ex.cr. quizzes help so much!helpful outside of class & understanding that class is kinda hard so does things to help students out b/c he wants them to succeed!
The most brilliant, enthusiastic teacher I have had at this university. part of what makes Loyola such a great school. I know we all hate the red tape that is LUC, but the reason we suffer through all taht if for the chance to learn from ones like him.
This is not an easy class but his test are only from his notes. You never have to read the book. He has so much knowledge it is amazing. Moves fast but still easy to get an A with all the extra credit
He's a good teacher. Is very clear in his lectures. The lectures could get dull thought. Over the summer he gave so much extra credit its hard not to get an a. 3 tests and pop quizes. the pop quiz are the extra credit
i took him for human antomy for bio majors. lots of info, very good lecturer, but his tests were killers. i studied many different ways, still lovehim though
All tests are only on his notes. He speaks very fast so having the book is good in case you missed something in lecture. He allows you to use your notes/book in the last 15 min of the test which is nice. I recommend taking him. He is a good teacher.
Hard Class, but he makes it interesting, book is unneccessary, but test questions come directly from the study guide assignments. Loved the class, would take him again for anything in a heartbeat.
Great professor, not easy classes, but he gives opportunities for extra points. Made 300 level anatomy & physiology attainable without as much stress as what it could have been! Highly recommend this prof.
Good teacher.Speaks fast but lectures are interesting.Need book for a back up.Tests are only on lecture and selected readings.Tests are multiple choice. Can use notes and book in the last 15 min of the test period.
this guy is kinda hard... hard test..but offers extra credit quizzes thats if you actually study hard for them. mutiple choice tests.
Multiple choice test.Quick talker.Extra credit opportunity.Good teacher. Take class
this class is a joke! anyone can take this class and get an A. I guess Loyola forgot about him when revising their grading standards. He pretty much spits out A's!
Great lecturer, one of the best at Loyola. Take good notes and you can skip the readings. Exams can be tough so make sure you study from you notes. Very pleasant, bad breath - halitosis, very bad case.
If you're interested in the material, you wont have a problem with his class. He knows what he is talking about, and is very interesting and helpful in relating class material to real life in the form of examples, etc. It's not a blowoff...multiple choice tests, but definitely have to study. He's a great teacher, I would take him again, anytime.
Absolutely AMAZING teacher! Tests are directly from the notes, you only need your book for clarification. He's really smart and funny-it's too bad Loyola doesn't let him teach 153!
He's a great professor! His lectures can be a bit unorganized, but they're very clear. If you study your notes and understand the material, you'll do just fine. You can also ask questions if you don't understand anything. He's really nice and answers anything.
A lot of fun and very clear explanations
Really? My friends and I really don't like this class. He is extremely unorganized, he frequently says "make sure you know this" then doesn't test you on it, he will NOT email you back, and will never repeat himself. He is impossible to learn from and there are lots of surprises on the test. Be prepared to stay up all night studying only to get a B
I honestly would not recommand. he seemed unorganized, and there are A LOT of surprises on the second exam! I studied my butt off from a chapter that had only 5 questions on the test. make sure you bring a recorder to class everyday because according to him, all his tests are based on his notes which are soooo long and its hard to hear him.
Tests are hard, and he does not curve NOR give extra credit points. Make sure you listen carefully notes are very long. Have fun studying for the exams.
Awasome professor. The class itself is hard with a lot of memorization! BUT if you go to class, listen carefully, and take detailed notes, you don't even have to open the book! He is fun, ready to answer any questions, and really helpfull!!! I hated bio all my life, this guy made me WANT to come to class!
Fantastic lecturer. Tests are fairly specific and detailed though so you need to study. I recommend the class for the MCAT as well.
Great professor, he helps out when you ask. Don't even need to textbook. All tests are based on lectures. The test questions are worded kinda weird, but other than that, as long as you go to class and take notes, this class is easy.
He teaches Anatomy & Physiology very clearly using ppts. I read the book & it was useless (only good for diagrams). All 3 tests based on lecture & are multiple choice (MC). They are straightforward & not too specific. 7 MC pop quizzes but only need to take 5. Extra credit possible if take all 7. Do not buy PhysioEx; its a waste of time & money.
His exams are based on his lectures, however he words his exams very openly and is not specific. It's like the exams come from a totally different class. Don't expect help from him, he'll just tell you to go to the test taking center.
Eh, not the greatest but not the worst. He doesn't curve at all. Class avg was a 53 on one test, no curve. Ruined my grade. Tests are tricky and sometimes vague. He's really into detail. I used to like anatomy the first time I took it and after his class, not so much. WAY too much info you need to learn for every test so you NEED to study hard. B-
Dr. Jones is very knowledgeable and is generally a very clear lecturer. His test questions are mostly straight forward, but many are intentionally ambiguous. Still, if you put in the time you should be able to pull an A.
He is so helpful and makes the material interesting. The material is rough but you learn a lot. I would definitely take another class with him!
Good Prof. Easy Prof. A is doable. His exams are all Multiple Choice. Class is out of 550 pts. 2 exams of 100 pts. Final exam is 200 pts. 150 pts. are from lab. EXAMS are STRAIGHT FROM LECTURE. RECORD HIS LECTURES if u can. Use book for images. U learn a lot from this class. A MUST class for all docs wanna-be.
Record his lectures. No need for book. go to class because you must hear his notes.
Dude. Knows. His. A&P. First semester he doesn't put up ppts on Bboard, doesn't let you bring a laptop to class, or even record his lectures. Second semester he reluctantly puts up ppts on blackboard, and also takes attendance. Either way, you must go to class as his exams/5 pop quizzes are pretty much based off his lectures. Book is not necessary.
I don't know what people were talking about "easy A". Class was DIFFICULT. Loved the subject, but no matter how much I studied, I never did as well as I wanted. This prof. knows his subject, DO NOT MISS CLASS, notes & lecture are essential for the exam--Know EVERYTHING. Study/review notes from lect. the same day. Keep up with the class, good luck!
I'm super bitter right now. To keep it short and simple. Class average is 76%. Good luck with that "doable A". Final was impossible and I would suggest to never take this class in the summer. ever. even if you go to every class and study every night, u could still fail...
He REALLY knows his A&P. Really in depth class and really interesting and I think he does a fairly good job explaining things. The problem is when it comes to the tests, he is as vague as vague can be. Study absolutely EVERYTHING that you cover because he will put random stuff all over the test. Like the nervous system.
Not bad! This semester he shared ppts and allowed laptops/recorders which helps. Really nice and approachable. Funny at times. 2 exams & a final(cumulative), all MC.. focused on notes/ppts but it helps to read the book. Keep up! Dont fall behind. Overall good class, nice professor, A is definitely doable.
Anatomy/Physio are going to be hard no matter who is teaching it but Jones definitely makes it clear as far as what you need to know. There are two tests (which he claims to be cumulative but aren't) and a cumulative final. All the exams are multiple choice. Make sure you study the PowerPoints EXACTLY! He gets all of the exam questions from there.
This class is only doable when the student is willing to do their part. You HAVE to record the lectures and listen to them diligently. Don't wait until the last minute, it'll be a pain to listen to all of them. Two exams and a cumulative final exam (really hard but he curves the final grade). You MUST attend the lecture, he gives 12 pop quizzes!
I suggest recording his lectures because he doesn't stop talking throughout the entire period and you don't want to miss anything, especially in his class. Exams are somewhat difficult but not impossible. To pass, you need to put in the time but you'll also be learning a lot!
record EVERY lecture! and go home and listen to them. I rewrote all my PowerPoint notes with the recordings included into my notes which helped me study A LOT. He is very specific with details and will ask questions about anything he said during lecture. anything is fair game on the exam. I took the class over the summer and worked and got an A.
Easily the best bio course I've taken at Loyola. Jones really knows his stuff, and is very helpful if you need clarification. Be sure to take VERY good notes in his lectures and don't skip class. Do not really need the book, but it can be helpful. He's a great lecturer and makes concepts very clear, just make sure to memorize the details!
Jones is a very passionate professor. His lectures are extremely clear, but he rarely stops talking to give you the chance to take notes on everything he says. Exams require a lot of studying and memorization. Definitely doable if you put the time in. I would spend at least two-three days preparing. There are 2 exams and a final.
Not an approachable or particularly helpful professor - somewhat condescending. He continuously lectures in class so you MUST take notes or record them. Difficult to follow and hard to understand sometimes. He expects you to know all material backwards and forwards, so you have to study ALL the time. Made the class unenjoyable which was unfortunate
The class itself is incredibly detailed, and he literally does not stop talking the entire lecture, but with weekly review of material and extra effort before exams, it is doable. Quizzes force you to keep up, and he puts in a few extra credit ones at the end to help your grade. I didn't record lectures but wish I did. Exams based on lecturesppts.
Not a terribly difficult class. There definitely is a lot of material to learn, but my biggest issue was his wording during exams causing a lot of confusion. Not a great lecturer, but hey what can you do?
I am currently taking H&F II with Professor Jones. He is definitely a very smart guy with a lot of knowledge in anatomy, but his class is just so complicated that he expects you to know EVERYTHING for the test. 2 tests with 100 questions...a final with 200 question (I feel like I am taking the ACT again) wish me luck on the final tomorrow.
What a brilliant man! Lectures are crystal clear. Exams are very long, yes, but come STRAIGHT from his lecturespower points. I suggest recording every lecture and going back and listening before exams. Probably my favorite biology course I've taken at Loyola! Take him! You won't regret it!
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. His exams are extremely hard and unclear. I studied so hard for every exam and always got a C. Thank goodness for the labs or I wouldn't have passed. The final? Impossible. And he talks so fast you have no idea what he is talking about. His powerpoints are so messy. I recorded his lecture from front row. Pointless.
If you listen to the lectures and make the material meaningful to you, you will get a lot out of this class. It is very doable. Just dedicate an hour of your day after lecture to listening to the recording and taking good notes! This class is actually fun, and Dr. Jones is an excellent professor. Use the textbook for clarity and email him questions
He can definitely be condescending but his lectures are CRYSTAL CLEAR. You have to record and listen to all the lectures before his exams and then just memorize your notes and his powerpoints. He's not very approachable but it doesn't really matter if you just record lectures. Thats what I did and I got an A both semesters. DOABLE AND FAIR!!
Dr. Jones is great. He knows his stuff & his lectures are clear. The material itself is fascinating; he does a good job of explaining everything. You can tell he is a veteran teacher with a lot of experience. He can have wicked mood swings, making him intimidating at times but he's a great teacher. Just do your part. Do readings and prepare 4tests
Jones is an amazing lecturer, he is very clear and the information he gives is fascinating. Just make sure to constantly be reviewing your notes, as he gives 6 unannounced quizzes throughout the semester. Make sure you don't skip class!! Not only is there the possibility of a quiz, but you'll be pretty lost during the next lecture.
Professor Jones has a great personality but when it comes to anatomy, take someone else. He has 6 pop quizzes and his exams are very difficult. His final was also cumulative. Hes not very leinient when it comes to curving exams or disputing a test question, so get ready to study. I will say that his lectures are crystal clear though.
Very confusing when he speaks, does not make his lectures straight forward. Would not recommend at all.
Awesome man--makes histo fun to learn and he's a great lecturer. Long exams (85 MC) that are pretty difficult. Very specific. Everyone seems to do worse on them than they thought. Lab is very laid back, come if you want and leave when you want. Lab exams difficult because everything in histology looks alike!!
Dr. Jones is a must take for the Honors Science and Society requirement!! He is so easy. You read three books. All the essays are minimum of 2 pages and as long as you write something intelligible you'll get A's. He essentially gives you the exam questions in the study guide, and the last three weeks of class are presentations. 10/10
Get to know him so that he knows your name because he can be moody to people he doesnt like. Dont ever skip class and take good notes! Dont procrastinate to study because theres a lot of material on each test. The lab practicals are hard but if you google the tissues and look at lots of different pictures of them, you will be prepared.
This was the easiest class I've ever taken. I barely put effort into the papers, exams and final project and received 100% on everything. He does take attendance but you can skip class and not miss anything. We got out at least 30 minutes early on several occasions. He is a very sweet guy.
Hands down, Dr. Jones is the BEST lecturer I have ever had at Loyola. I have never had a lecture that was so fluid and interesting to pay attention to; however, his exams are pretty challenging. He really asks for specifics, but as long as you pay attention in class, take good notes, and RECORD all lectures, you'll pass the class. Would take again.
Jones makes this class very relaxed. He is a must-take for honors and his class is an easy A! If you keep up with the readings you'll be able to get full participation points and do well on the papers. He posts PPT slides on Sakai so you don't have to scramble to take notes.
Grades are only based off of 3 exams, 1 cumulative final, and lab. Dr. Jones gives his lectures well however, they are heavily condensed with a lot of information. His exams don't correlate well with the material taught and he offers no curve or extra credit. He isn't approachable outside of class and doesn't respond to emails. Avoid at all costs!
Warren is a nice, laid-back guy who set up his class to be a very easy A as long as you put in an ounce of effort. Our grades came from writing a 1-3 page paper on each of the four books we read, a midterm, final and participation (all of which he graded very kindly). The study guides were essentially the exams. Do yourself a favor and take him!
Heard he was tough for Anatomy 1 going in but extremely happy I took him. Makes you work for an A but very doable. What worked for me was printing the slides, recording lectures, and listening to them later. He is a great professor. Take him if you really want to learn.
