See results under Truman college too.He has a ridiculous point system and never directly answers your questions. You really won't know what your final grade is until it is posted on the ccc website because his grading style is unpredictable-no matter what he posts on blackboard.Theres no debating with this guy its always going 2 B his way.
HE IS COOL. Funny cuz he's a tiny person, and with our class, we always joke around and talk about other things. Every classis a different feel, but for our class, he was really cool. Really helpful explains things in great detail!! Participation is important. Good luck
love menezes...:-)
He was a very helpful teacher and the tests came directly from the notes. You don't even need the book he even says it.
This teacher is the greatest! I loved every minute of his class, he is very helpful and interesting. He replaces your previous test scores with the following ones which gives you a great chance of getting an A. Didnt use book at all, and gives practice exams. Highly recommended, kinda hot as well...at least me and my sister thought so..
Menezes is a really great professor. He explains everything in a way to help students understand the material. His main goal is to help you succeed. In addition to him being good at what he does, he is so hilarious! I loved going to class because he has such a great sense of humor!
Excellent Teacher! Always on time and organized. Friendly, always available to help students. Exams, quizzes, etc, are graded promptly. Students can check all graded materials outside class. Grades are posted online. I enjoyed this class and highly recommend Professor Menezes.
Don't take him for any class. Wright has "let" him teach 203 and its a big mistake. Take Mitchell. Many A students are fighting for a C. So many have dropped. He also begs students to take his class so he can show that he is "popular". So many things wrong with this picture.
Interesting teaching style. I learnt a lot.
He is a good teacher and willing to help. The class is not the easiest but if you go to class and do the work you should be fine.
Knows his stuff and explains well. Helpful Lecture Notes posted on Blackboard.
BIG MISTAKE TAKING THIS CLASS....Not approachable and not undertstanding.
The lectures in his course are poorly organized. I would reccommed a tutor if taking his course. Prof Menezes does lacks a great teaching quality that students need for understanding of esp a subject as ChemII
Students can ask questions, Professor patiently answers. Do your worksheets and you will do well!
Not fond of his teaching style and method. Wish I would have took another professor because I think subject is interesting. However, it was quite difficult trying to learn it from him
His class was a waste of my time. I am so sorry I took this class with him. He is disorganized and lazy. He never completes solving the problems so you are always left in the air. When you ask something he mocks you as if you should know the answer already. On top of that, he talks nonstop about himself and his life. Take someone else. Awful class.
I took this guy last semester and I wish I wouldn't have. He is downright annoying. He wastes too much time talking about himself. You can tell he has a big ego. He also has a batch of his favorite students that he insists to converse with in the middle of class. If you are not in his favorite students' list you're screwed. Take someone else.
Not only a boring class but also a difficult one. There were 28 of us when we started and now we're down to 12 students. So many have dropped. I seriously believe it is because of his teaching style. He's simply not clear in his instruction. He jumps from one thought to the next, never finishes solving problems, and gets annoyed with your questions
He wouldnt be so bad if he would just shut up! Seriously, this guy has diarrhea of the mouth. He rambles on and on and never about the subject but about nonsense stuff. He seriously loves to hear himself talk! If you can get over his nonsense chatter you may do just fine. I personally got distracted and would leave class early as he annoyed me.
Not worth the money. He clearly prefers his "protegees" -those who have taken previous classes from him-. The rest of us, he will ignore. He doesn't fully solve problems that are difficult for students. I constantly had to go to a tutor for help.
Took both chemisty classes, 201 and 203- Professor is friendly and very helpful if you have questions. But, you need to work hard!
Definitely a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. Don't expect a free ride but, still a great teacher.
I agree with the other students: he gets impatient if you don't understand the concepts and he never finishes solving the problems in class. I took Mitchell last semester and found her way more approachable. Would not take him again.
Took him last semester. I am now taking Valentino and she is waaay better! The problem with Menezes is that he rushes you into chapters and he expects you to have a background in chemistry even though this is a beginner's course. Wish my first experience in chem would have been different...
He is unprofessional, disorganised in his lectures and inflexible. Does not offer any extra credit and he tends to throw unexpected problems in his exams. I agree with the other student commenting that you can never win with him: it is always going to be his way.
He appears lazy and unprofessional to me, like he doesn't like taking the time to explain the difficult concepts and expects you to grasp them right away. When students ask, he gets impatient. Other professors make it fun and give you real life examples. His lectures were rather dry and boring.
I love chemistry but got turned off by the professor. He has such a big ego and loves to talk about himself. He also embarrasses students who don't understand the concepts. He once said he only wanted bright students in his class as he has no patience for slow students. I found him irritating and condescending.
this guy IS pure evil. took him in spring '10,+ methinks he's too stupid to teach! very unhelpful whenever i asked for help, so much to the point where i SERIOUSLY(!) had to copy like 50% of his assignments/labs from classmates. avoid him at all costs!!
If you'd like someone who does not explain the concepts clearly, never finishes his sentences, does not completely solve problems, and who likes to "surprise" you with questions in quizzes and tests, then this is your man.
His exams are challenging. That's good, but maybe hard to get A.Maybe he doesn't want many people to get A's. He loves talking about irrelevant things in the class. It seems to be true that he only wants bright students in his class. He tends to mock some students. If you're an advanced student, take him. If not, avoid him!
I agree with the others. He does mock and embarrass certain students in class as if it bothers him when people are learning slowly. He should know though that not everybody learns at the same pace. I can see how he can be intimidating though. He talks too much nonsense in class which I found distracting. Would not take him again.
Not a bad guy if you're an excellent student. If you're not, however, he will not help you. He doesn't have patience with students who are slow learners or who need further explanation with concepts or problems. He strikes me as being intolerant.
He is a very smart man and as a typical professor carries a big ego. The most annoying thing he did was ignore certain students and only pay attention to his favorites. He would talk so much about irrelevant things instead of helping students. Once i had a question he told me to wait because he was talking and he completely forgot about me. Avoid!
Can't agree more with the previous reviewer -little man with a big ego. He cannot stop talking about himself and about a ton of other irrelevant things. He has a few protegees and ignores the rest of the class. After a while you just give up and beg for the semester to end only to find that he is a super tough grader. Take Valentino instead.
I agree with the other student. I found he deliberately avoided answering my questions. Whenever I had problems answering the worksheets he would not help. Instead he would waste so much time talking about food, politics and his fascination with this country. I passed this class thanks to my tutor who was much more patient and clearer than he was.
If you're taking the class with him make sure you have a tutor or someone who can clarify the gaps and form a study group as many of your questions may not get answered in class. Careful with his quizzes, they tend to be tricky.
Worst Professor ever! Everyone should report him to the assistant Dean.I did last semester. He picks certain favorites. This guy told me he got 97 on every exam because Menezes was changing his grades. Automatically choses from the beginning who he likes and gives them A's...so if you want your grade determined for you before 1st exam, then take hi
He is a great teacher, took him last semester easy A. All the people who give bad comments, probally lazy, got caught cheating and their grade reflects their lack of work. He is very good, and if you are willing to come everyday, take quizes, do work-sheets, and study the notes, you will get a good grade
He is very enthusiastic! This course is fast-paced and you will fall behind if you don't constantly study. He posts Blackboard Quizzes and Work-Sheets, and is easily accessible if you need help. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Menezes is a great teacher! He is helpful. Anyone who gives Dr. Menezes a low rating is a student who did not work hard and received a bad grade. Do your homework, study for quizzes and attend class regularly get A's!
Horrible professor horrible experience. The guy is so full of himself, so conceited and arrogant, he made me feel uncomfortable and stupid. There are plenty better professors than him. Don't waste your time.
Worst professor ever! I wish Ms Valentino taught this class! This guy is so conceited and full of himself. One minute he adores you, the next minute he completely ignores you. Totally unreliable, unclear notes, unfair grading. Do not waste your time and take someone else!
WORST TEACHER EVER! He simply does not know how to teach. He does not present his subject creatively, rather just writes things on the board with the hopes that you somehow get it. I have been able to get through this class only thanks to my tutor. If you find chemistry challenging then take someone else.
He is mediocre at best. Will not make any exceptions on quizzes, worksheets or any assignments. He likes to play like he's cool and easy going until you need some extra help or an extension. I would not take him again.
You can probably still do Ok if you are really good at chemistry, get a tutor, or are willing to read the book from page to page. He is hateful and yucky though.
Lol I agree with the other reviewer -he is kinda yucky I didn't feel comfortable going to his office on my own. He likes to get you talking on your personal life which I don't feel is necessary in order to pass the class. I did ok so long as I maintained minimum contact with him. You can also become his "protege," though he won't leave you alone!
Very hard exams and quizzes!
half the class drop out, what can you say
Wright College should fire this professor! Condescending, he thinks he's all that, impatient with students and unwilling to help. Avoid him like the plague!
Horrible professor horrible experience! How can this guy be teaching? Unhelpful and condescending. Wound up dropping him on week 10! Do yourself a favor and take someone else.
THE WORST teacher ever! Should have the title of 'Professor' taken away! This man flirts on girls in the class and spends hours at a time taking about sports instead of chemistry. He NEVER has the answer to ANY QUESTION and is TOTALLY UNHELPFUL when you go to ask him a question or to see your grade. Never returns exams! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!
THE WORST teacher ever! Should have the title of 'Professor' taken away! This man flirts with girls in the class and spends hours at a time taking about sports instead of chemistry. He NEVER has the answer to ANY QUESTION and is TOTALLY UNHELPFUL when you go to ask him a question or to see your grade. Never returns exams! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!
Way too arrogant and ignorant to be allowed to teach. He is a shame to Wright. He either hates his job or hates students because he is certainly not willing to offer help. Gets annoyed when you ask questions, Chem is a hard class. Don't waste your time with him.
The best teacher I have ever had. He is funny, nice, and he care about the students. I really recommend him.
Mr. Menezes is a great teacher. I like his sense of humor in the class. He wants everyone to success. I highly recommend him.
he like to roll his eyes when students ask for help. he make fun of students when they ask for help
Cuts no slack. I tried hard but still got a poor grade. Cares a lot about the students and them doing well but he is not clear on instruction. He does not practice many problems so bring your math skills. Lots memorization. Handwriting is horrible on the board, hard to follow, take extensive notes. Homework, quizzes and tests are really hard.
He's a great teacher! I never liked chemistry at all but he made it interesting and very comprehensible! He helps his students a lot if they're struggling.
I took with Prof. Menezes chemistry 201 and 203. I got A's from both of the classes. I learned a lot from the class because we did many homework and worksheets. Exams are fine because he gives many bonus points.
Does not mind tardiness, but does mind absences. He teaches by PowerPoint and gets off topic very easily. Never used the textbook. He uses the word "Right" in every sentence. (So annoying). I ask questions when I need clarification on something, and he does not seem very happy to help and does not clarify much. Find a different professor.
Ive been at Wright for 3 years and am transferring to UIC. I had to to take GEN CHEM with him. He teaches fast and isn't very clear. QuizzesTests are very difficult and aren't returned to you. If you miss a lab, quiz, or exam he wont let you take it again. No Matter what reason. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I still got a B. But he's a joke. We deserve better
I just to Chem 121 this past summer. I enjoyed his class and I thought I did pretty good. He does not have a problem explaining things if you don't understand. He did teach pretty fast but it was a summer class and really had only 6 12 weeks of class. Quizzes and test were not easy, but overall I would take his class again.
Take this class if you want to learn!
Amazing teacher, loves his students, always has a sense of humor, and is always ready to help.
He was nice, lecture is a bit tough but again, if you're pursuing STEM don't even think about finding a no effort class. HW are a bit overwhelmed, but he's willing to help so I'd recommend him.
Over all a great Professor. Is always ready to stay after class to help you with any questions. He is one of those teachers that want to see his kids pass with flying colors. He is also very excited about the things he does and that always helps when your not having a good day. Always nice to see a Proffesor that cares.
He's an excellent professor who has much enthusiasm for his craft. He is always available to help after class hours and offers many resources to help students succeed. If you don't like him, it's likely that you failed and are bitter.
wanna an easy class? go back to kindergarten, it's a hard class but Dr. Menezes is a great professor. He helps a lot by giving homework and classwork which are useful to practice for tests. Bonus points are given, if you want them, work for them. He makes you work because he wants students learn. He is very friendly and he cares about his students
Professor Menezes is great! He will go out of his way to help you understand the material and will give bonus points to those who work hard for it. He truly does care about his students. Lectures are tough, yet clear. I enjoyed his class and if I needed to take another Chem class I would def take him again. I strongly recommend him!
Dr. Menezes is a great professor. Gen Chem isn't easy but he is willing to help if you ask. Be ready to do work as there's plenty homework and classwork to be done. He wants everyone to succeed and genuinely cares about his students. If you want an easy A and not learn anything, go elsewhere!
To start off, you don't have to buy the book. There are homework assignments and quizzes due the day of the exam, DO THEM! You'll need the points and they help with the exams. He genuinely loves what he does and he'll explain everything until you understand it, so if you need help ask. It's not an easy class, but chemistry isn't an easy subject.
Great professor! He really knows his chemistry and this isn't a take notes and plug-in when it comes to taking tests and quizzes. Dr. Menezes makes you use your mind as his test and quizzes are pretty hard. Do classwork and homework for great prep for exams and quizzes. Lecture was clear and to the point and he gives opportunity for extra credit.
He's got a great sense of humor and is always enthusiastic. Overall he's a great teacher and fit perfectly for a chemistry professor. Just pay attention and take notes ! Miss a class though and you'll get lost behind
Professor Menesez has to be the most laid back professor I've ever had. Young spirited and always up-lifting. He might seem like a push over but don't take his kindness for weakness. He's there to help you and if you don't want it he's not going to chase you around.
Great teacher, always gives feedback. Always tries to help students when they don't understand the work and reviews chapters. understands students and does best of his ability to do so , but of course the student must do as well. Do expect some work online as well as in class. For the most part his lectures are amazing, he has a sense of humor.
Helpful, happy, and always willing to help! Take good notes and do the worksheets and homework he gives you! Use those same worksheets and homework to study from they were usually on the quiz or exams! He is funny and explains things very well. 100% recommend taking him.
Be there for every lecture, do good on exams, do your assignments online, and you won't fail.
This professor knows chemistry like the back of his hand. He easily explains all of the concepts and is more than willing to slow things down so no one is left behind. I was initially worried about the 4 hour duration but time always flies by in this class. Just make sure you understand the questions on the homework and quizzes.
Great professor, gives good lectures, and makes you earn a good grade.
Best professor I have ever had! 3 homework assignments/exam, all due exam day online (some he even does in class). Give in-class work also for points. If your exam is a grade letter up from your last, you get bonus points for improving! He's always there to talk with you, even unrelated to the class. Put in the effort to learn and you'll have an A!
The class is not that easy but professor is always willing to help. He usually gives 3 worksheets that get you ready for the exam which helps a lot. The homework are usually problems from the worksheet. Exams are also not that bad if you do the homework. Usually half written and half multiple choice
Breaks my heart to see a bad review about a chemistry genius who whole heartedly dedicates himself to crystal clear explanations of difficult concepts. THIS IS A TOUGH TOPIC. Expect to study 10 hours a week out of class and I promise you the material is given to give a student with no science background every tool for an A.
The best teachers I have ever had. Expect to study and put effort outside the classroom. Chem 203 is not for the faint of heart. Best part is you get bonuses if you score higher from previous exams. Good office hours, he knows chemistry and will prepare you immensely if you are a chemistry major or biochemist. Take him if you serious for chemistry.
Excellent class. He worries about his students.
Professor Menezes is awesome. He genuinely cares about his students and makes sure they understand the material. If you really enjoy chemistry and you want to learn, he is the best professor. He will challenge you! However, you must be ready to put in effort and work hard. He will prepare you well for every exam & he gives a lot of points!
Professor Menezes is one of the top chemistry professors at Wright. He has a passion for chemistry that is very contagious. He genuinely cares about the students and wants them to succeed. The material can be difficult but getting an A isn't impossible.
Had a horrible experience last semester with Chemistry, so he made it easy to understand. Impressed with certain techniques. Gave a lot of homework, but would work on certain problems in class for his students to understand. Encourages students to seek tutoring and/or recommends to ask questions during/after class. Would take another class w/him.
Although I was taking his class on a summer semester (6 and 1/2 weeks), Professor Menezes taught more material faster, and more clearly than my 2 previous science instructors during a normal timeline. He is very approachable, and always happy to assist with classwork, and labs. He can be reached after hours and always has his itinerary planned out.
He is a complete professor. Nothing's too difficult for him to clarify. Has great examples to explain methods. He also understands the students struggles and life outside class well. He can keep the class entertained. I'd do research with him if available.
This professor makes this class ten times easier. Best option if you want to take chem 201 .
TAKE PROF WARREN! YOU WONT REGRET IT!! I just finished the last exam of the summer semester and tomorrow is the ACS exam. I am so ready because he teaches amazingly. He creates the best environment, a safe, fun class , that I looked forward to going to everyday. His quizzes, and classwork, labs, are full points, with minimal efforts. Best chem prof
This guy is the best, he grades fairly, he is easy to work with he is funny, and he makes chemistry easy, his lectures are challenging and widens your horizon but he makes it understandable. you could easily pass if you fall asleep in his class that is how amazing of a prof he is. he has so much shortcuts and easy ways to solve problems he is RAD!!
He is great! if you are looking to pass with an A in chemistry you will surely do so if you take warren. His syllabus is great. his grading criteria is the best! honestly why cant all our professors be like him?
Prof Warren teaches in a very organized way, you will never be lost, even if you are absent. He gives classwork which can be taken home, and worked in groups. 4 exams. very easy, if you pay attention in class. his assignments and quizzes are on Blackboard and you have a physical copy before you begin them, so very convenient. chem is clear
I took his class over the summer and I must say, it was an awesome experience. The class didn't stress me out, which is great if you take it over summer. Easy A!!!! Definitely learned a lot from this prof and had lots of laughs. I would definitely take him again if I could.
SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT!!! 10 points extra credit if you complete the online assessment, 10 points if you complete all the assignments, 10 points for completing all the quizzes, and for every point you score above 25 on the ACS exam out of 70 will go to your grade. That is an opportunity for 75 points! this class was easy and fun thank u Warren
He is thorough in his teaching, likes to talk about anything that relates with the topic, and is sassy at times. If you are struggling he will notice and offer his help, it is in your best interest to take his advice to successfully move forward in this class. If you do not study you will not score high on the exams. They are not to study for.
Really helps the student by giving many examples on what we learn so we could better understand the material
Not an easy class, I knew that before. Not helpful. Im not a confidence person. Lost patience when I ask questions. Hard exams. Worked very hard to get B in class. Thank you to my tutor! There are good teachers who teach chemistry in this school but not Menezes.
Professor Menezes is a very good at what he does. He's very knowledgable and treats his students with respect and patience. He helps anyone and everyone regardless of their level of knowledge. He explains concepts thoroughly and makes sure everyone understands before moving onto the next topic. Overall, I would highly recommend him.
dont always trust what you read on rate a profesor. from now on i will talk to other students about there teachers. what sounds to good to be true probably is. me and a lot of other kids struggled in this class. he got annoyed with all of our questions. we got annoyed when he says "right" after every sentence. heard valentino is awesome.
Dr. Menezes started off as a good professor. He was okay at his lectures, but over the course of the semester, he began to lose patience and rush his lectures. I would go to his office hours frequently when I was having trouble but stopped going after he snapped on me for not understanding. He enjoys calling on you if you don't know the answer.
Professor Menezes is one of the most inspiring professors I've ever taken. You can tell by his lectures that he really enjoys his job. Professor Menezes is always willing to help students behind. When I came into Chem201 I haven't taken chemistry in 7 years and I was worried I'd be behind but with Professor Menezes help I was able to get an A.
He is pretty flexible and patient with grading , if you are struggling he will offer his help. It is in your best interest to keep up and successfully move forward in this class. If you do not study you will not score high on the exams, however he is pretty specific about the material that will be on exams which is always a plus.
Professor Menezes is definitely one of the best teachers I've had. His lectures are clear, detailed and engaging. He always makes time for students after class or during office hours to make sure everyone is understanding the material. If you do all the practice worksheets and quizzes, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A in the class.
Processor Menezes greatest strength is his ability to make make the material less threatening and more accessible. I don't know that I have ever worked with a professor that was as committed to engaging and encouraging his students on such a minute to minute basis. This guy goes the extra mile and then some. Always approachable and empathetic.
Professor Menezes is one of the greatest instructors I have ever had. He makes Chemistry easy to learn. His lectures are thorough and answers any questions students have. If you do the worksheets and quizzes, you'll do fine on the exams. Highly recommend to take his classes.
I'm going to miss this class, the professor is amazing, he explains everything clearly, he makes the heavy lecture a piece of cake, you practice a lot that you don't forget the material. The extra credits are amazing with him.. don't hesitate to take any class with him.
I took 201 with Professor Menezes and decided to take him again for Chemistry 203. Reason being because he isn't your traditional teacher that simply reads off of power points, makes you read a chapter and quiz you on it the next class. Material is covered through his extensive knowledge of chemistry. Great class if you're willing to learn.
Dr. Warren Menezes is an amazing chemistry professor. His style of teaching makes everyone want to listen and participate in class. He does not only read off from a ready power point. However, he explains everything briefly and clearly. Also he gives many chances to students to pick up their grades, by giving many classwork and bonus sheets.
This class is worth rating because few proffesors teach like Dr. Menezes, he is very comprehensive about the busy life of students. Also every week he posts an agenda so you know what to expect for every session. This is a very tough subject for me but Dr. Menezes was excellent at explaining everything in detail. Do Invest in the ACS study guide.
Great class its helped me a lot, im actually taking my next chem class with him
Make sure to do online worksheets and quizzes. Helps you to get ready for the test.
Professor Menezes is a great teacher and really wants your to succeed in his class. The class is difficult but as long as you are there and paying attention you will understand the material. Takes a lot of studying.
Great teacher, very conversational and easily accessible outside of class. Cares a lot about students and does whatever he can to help students pass the class. Very interactive and keeps in touch. One of the favorite professors that I've had during my time at Wright.
Menezes is a really nice professor and he always asks what's going on with the students. Still, it is expected of you to know some things once he gets past it. If you get lost, the worksheets are good way to review (which he provides for every 2 chapters). He always asks students if there are any questions regardless and is willing to spend time.
This was my second time taking the course after dropping it halfway at my university. I took it during the summer and I can say this is one of the best chemistry professors I've had. He goes through everything step by step from the start so as long as you're paying attention and doing all the worksheets and class work, you'll do good!
One of the best chemistry professors at wright. His explanations are very thorough and as long as you do the homework the exams and quizzes are not too difficult.
Professor Menezes is great. He genuinely wants every student to do well in his class. He never throws any curveballs on tests, you know exactly what material you need to study, he's a lenient grader, and there were many opportunities for bonus points. Minimal amount of HW compared to other summer classes. I would highly recommend him.
Amazing professor. He does go off topic quite a bit. However, he cares A LOT about his students. Do your worksheets! Really helps for exams and quizzes. Don't slack off though because exams and quizzes tend to be difficult. He gives extra points though! p.s don't buy the textbook only if you really need extra help.
The last time I took a Chemistry class was a bit over 3 years ago. I was worried about taking this class because I knew it could become very intense in the summer and my background in chemistry wasn't the best but professor Menezes was great! He went over basic chemistry from the first day of class and was always available after class to help.
Dr. Menezes is graduated from the University of Chicago with a Chemistry Ph.d. He is well educated and well knowledgeable professor, He always takes care of students and gives many chances to have extra credits. I took his class in 2017 Summer with two more classes. He made my chemistry subject easy and I got an easy A with his teaching pathway. DM
Very clear and helpful when it comes to explaining content, easy going and gives breaks throughout class.
Dr. Menezes is a very fun, caring, and intelligent Professor. He cares for his class and is reachable outside of class time. He hands out really good class lectures where he thoroughly explains Chemistry. If you miss lectures, you will not pass the class. His tests are alright, and he gives a lot of extra-credit opportunities.
Dr. Menezes is a very friendly and respectable teacher. At the start of the semester he went over concepts from Basic Chemistry and made sure we were familiar with it moving forward. The assignments he gave made sure to develop our understanding of the subject. Very engaging as a teacher and had a great interest in the pursuits of his students.
There are a lot of work in this class but they are there so you can have more chances to get a good grade. He gives a lot of extra points here and there. He's really corky and explain things clearly most of the time. The online worksheets are important! If you do all of em you can definitely get an A on the exams. Don't miss more than one class.
Professor Menezes was a fantastic prof who truly cares and is willing go to the extra mile for you as long as you do the same. He will do whatever is needed to help you succeed and give you every opportunity to excel. Extra credit is offered, fair grader, keeps class fun, and doesn't over load or give more than expected in a class of the sort.
Professor Menezes is really nice person! He gives you good knowledge on what you need to know. Pay attention during his lectures, ask questions if something is unclear, he is always happy to answer! Sometimes it is useful to use other sources to study! Better not miss classes because he gives points for work you do in class. I would take him again
Professor Warren is an excellent instructor who is very engaging with his students. Very thorough with his lessons and more than willing to answer question during and outside class hours. Though the set up of Lab, then lecture was a little odd to both the professor and the myself, he made sure his students understood the material. Great Professor.
Unorganized, overly chatty, cocky, and practices favoritism. Lots of reviews saying he is very nice and talkative. Yes, if you are one of his favorites. Unapproachable due to his unwillingness to help a struggling student. His favorite line is You should have learned this in Basic Chem. Oh, and he chews his gum loudly and talks during tests.
Dr. Warren is great. Sure sometime I can't understand him because of his accent but he explain things as if you never took chemistry before (from scratch). My advice for you is DO ALL your ONLINE HW as soon as he's done with the lesson. The quizzes and exams are very similar to the questions on there. Show up+do work+study A.
Professor is ON POINT!! Is very helpful and answers all questions. Makes chemistry easy and is very enthusiastic. Good for either a gen ed or if required. Take this class.
Dr. Menezes is a great professor. He explains everything in great detail and is willing to answer all questions. Make sure you pay attention in class and take notes. He is fair with grading and also gives plenty extra credit and good practice before exams. The hw & quizzes online are similar to how the exams are. Would take this professor again.
Dr. Menezes is very helpful and caring, he will take the time during his breaks, days off, office hours and etc. to make sure you understand the material or if you have nay concerns. He gives pretty good examples in class to help understand the concepts.
I took Dr. Menezes for Chemistry 201 and Chemistry 203 and was impressed by how great he taught the course. He cares for his students and their grades. He offers A LOT of extra credit opportunities so you can get an A in his class. He is available outside of class for help. If you do your homework, attend class, and pay attention you will pass!
Class can be difficult if you skip a lecture. Otherwise, he goes over problems in class. Easy to talk to. Clear instructions, participation is not required. He is very fair when grading as he clearly states what you must do to get credit. Partial credit is given on exams and class work. Overall good teacher, would take another class with him.
If you're one of those that expect to come to class, do absolutely nothing and get a passing grade then don't bother. Prof. Menezes is just like every others teacher out there, he comes to teach to make a living so don't expect him to babysit you and only you throughout the entire semester. He has other students that need help too not just you.
Professor teaches material clear and concise. Approachable and will help you with material in case you need the extra help. Pleasure to be with in class. Definitely recommend this professor and would take more classes with him.
Dr. Menezes is about as generous as they come. He will go out of his way to make sure the class understands the material during lecture. Chem is all about practice! There are plenty of extra credit opportunities because he understands that when given that, students will take the chance to work harder and engage in their own learning.
Professor is very knowledgeable about the subject and is always willing to help students who seek it. Gives plenty of practice with worksheets and class assignments that prepare you well for the exams!
professor Warren is a good, kind, and easy professor. participation is not required. he offers a lot of extra credit which help to have a high grade.
I count Dr. Menezes among the best professors I have had. He was recommended to me by many of his previous students, and I'm glad that I ignored some of the negative reviews on here and took his class. He is a kind, thorough, and engaging instructor, and always tries to help his students. Do the hw honestly and you'll ace the exams. Take his class!
I highly recommend Dr. Menezes. He's one of the most thorough, kind & knowledgeable professors I've ever had (Note: I'm 30, have a B.S., & retaking courses to apply to Med School). I've had my share of professors, & can tell Dr. Menezes genuinely cares about teaching. You need to attend class, pay attention, & do ALL the homework/labs to get an A.
Dr. Warren is a great professor, even though I took his class in the summer, he managed to make the long lectures not that tiring. You will learn more than chemistry with him he is also inspirational with life advice. In addition, this class will challenge you with labs. Extra credit is available and he really cares about his students. J Bravo
I took Chemistry 203 (Chem II) summer 2018. The class was very challenging given the shortened term. However, Professor Menezes made the four hour lectures enjoyable given his engaging lecture style. If you put in the time an A is certainly attainable as he will provide sample suport.
Professor Menezes provided clear instruction when it came to his class. While not the most engaging he does well and takes considerable care into making sure that the students questions are answered and understood. He sprinkles much of his lectures with humor to keep the class engaged and to reduce stress. I really enjoyed my class with him.
Awesome Professor! Hes really passionate about teaching chemistry, and his students. Loved his class, and would definitely encourage anyone to take him.
Professor Menezess class was extremely enjoyable and engaging. I took Chem 203 over the summer and he was able to keep us engaged and entertained the whole time! Chem 203 is a difficult topic to teach and I think that he did an incredible job. He gave extra credit if we improved on tests and gave tons of opportunities to improve our grade.
Dr. Menezes is a great professor. I had him for Chem-203 over the summer and he really worked hard to help the class learn the material. The class was not easy by any means but Dr. Menezes was available whenever you needed him for help and feedback. His exams consisted of a fair written part but a grueling 40 MC exam on computer. Overall, great.
Dr. Menezes is an awesome professor! He is very nice to the students and helps out in anyway possible. Dr. Menezes was available to happily answer any questions students had. He made his class entertaining and he is one of the best chemistry teachers I have had! I would definitely take more classes with him
Maybe he is a good person but I don't think he is a good teacher. He is really disorganized when teaching, he goes really fast, he is sarcastic when answering questions, he forgets that his job is to teach and not to suppose that you know everything already. Didn't like his class at all. I wouldn't take him if you have more chemistry classes to go.
Professor Menezes is the sweetest! Like any class you are expected to do your work and study to get the grade you want. However, he makes class entertaining and is always ready to help you when you need it. There are many opportunities for extra credit as well. I was never a chemistry fan until taking this class! Love him!!
Menezes is a great professor. He has great lectures, and if you show up to all of them and take notes you probably wouldnt even need to read much (if any) from the book. He is very helpful, and is always receptive to questions. He gives a good amount of extra credit as well, I recommend to take him for chemistry.
Dr. Menezes is an amazing chemistry professor, you have no pressure at all in his class to get an A, because his lectures are interesting and well prepared, just jot the notes, you don't even need to buy a book, and he offers a lot of extra credits. I will continue to take more Chemistry classes and Dr. Menezes's will be my first choice.
Professor Menezes is a great instructor. He cares about his students and wants everyone to understand and succeed. The course moves quickly and if you miss a few days it may be hard to catch up, but Professor Menezes was very helpful during office hours. If you take good notes and study outside of class, you will do well. He offers extra credit!
Professor Menezes wasn't the greatest but was okay. The way he does his lectures are straightforward just that he writes from one board to another which becomes confusing. He does care about the students though. If you need help he will help you, he isn't the kind to rush through the subjects.
His lectures are interesting, and straight forward. If you get through the first 4 weeks of the class, rest is easy, and keep in mind you MUST go to his lectures because if you miss a lecture, you are more than likely to not understand the whole chapter. If you regularly attend class and study before Exams, you should be good to go.
He is GREAT professor! He explain everything in a easy way to understand. He is not difficult Professor if you just listen, focus and attend his class on time and all the time. His grading is depend on the student participation of course.
He is a great professor and hilarious. His lectures are straight forward. You MUST go to his lectures, because if you miss a lecture, you are more than likely to not understand the whole chapter. He covers a lot in a lecture. I recommend to take him for chemistry.
He is a great professor. He is very funny and his lectures are straight forward. He knows how to teach very well. Just pay attention in class and you'll be set.
He's an amazing professor. Really cares about his students, and he's hilarious. I personally enjoyed his class plus if you take notes and don't miss class you will be ok.
Chemistry is a hard topic in general , regardless of professor. Would I recommend this teacher ? Hard to say , he is definitely caring and wants his students to do well, but its a tough topic . His lectures do cover a lot of test topics but not everything he will test you on. Test are very long and hard. Quizs are tough. Hw is easy. Labs are long.
He is a ice professor in treatment but he is a tough grader you need to study hard and his notes is worthless if you study you will got a hard A he give extra cridet each homework is different than the quiz and the test is different test all the test hard and you need to study hard but by the end of semester you will discover that you have A or B
The best chemistry teacher up to date! He truly does care about his students and would go out of his way to make sure you are passing his class. He is honest, kind, and humble. You wont regret choosing his class AT all.
Take him, never uses the book but covers everything in class. Doesn't use power points so it's never boring.. the exams are a bit challenging but I got a good grade on my final and that was great
One of the best Professors at Wright. The lectures are very clear, and if Chemistry is confusing to you, you must attend because he provides clarity on the topic with organized lectures and examples. The homework is also beneficial since it provides a variety of problems that can arise in the quizzes, and they prepare you for the exams.
Systematic way of teaching. Gives lots of extra credits. Make sure to attend the lectures for classwork and tips.
Connect school work with real life situations.
I will admit I am quite a handful but the prof. was calm about it he isn't one of those where you must be serious with but he also doesn't let the class go wild. I love the fact that we get classwork and hw related to quizzes and exams so if you did the hw you will be fine and we always do example problems I would recommend him for chem for sure.
Good teacher. Pay attention and you will get an A. Tries to have a relationship with his students which is always nice to see
Take his class! Prof Menezes is super nice. His office is always open. He post notes on Brightspace that you can use/read prior to class/lecture. Solve/use all the work sheets he gives you and that will help you do great on Quizzes and Tests. He gives lots of extra credit, so DO NOT miss class and earn as many points as you can to get an A
Dr. Menezes is a high-quality professor who got his PHD in chemistry at the University of Chicago; hes an expert in Chemistry. When you ask him questions, hell explain it in detail using clear concepts and support. Generous extra credit incentive system, no extra expensive app to buy, the book is on ppt posted online. Labs are also easy and fun.
Best Chemistry Professor. He offers lot of extra points and teaches so well
Dr. Warren Menezes is an amazing professor. He loves to teach. He is very meticulous. He is an inspirational professor with a lot of stories to connect to the topics he teaches in class. For a summer course, he makes it manageable. He is caring, funny, and an outstanding professor. I highly recommend him, and I wouldnt mind taking him again.
He was late a lot to the start of class. We graded the assignments ourselves, but he was strict about giving zero points for wrong answers or not showing the work how it was taught. Overall, if you pay attention and try at the work you will get a lot from the class. It is on you for what you take away from it.
Dr Menezes is an amazing teacher. He really cares about his student, helpful, and very nice. I learned a lot from him. His class is amazing . Classwork and online homework are very helpful as a study guide for exams.
I took professor Menezes during this past summer term and he has been the best chemistry teacher Ive had. He explains the hardest chem 203 topics in such an easy way to understand. It is a challenging class but if you do the worksheets and read the slides you should be fine. He cares about his students and will help you to be successful in class.
Professor Menezes is hilarious. He makes sitting through 4 hour lectures easier. He offers a lot of extra credit, but don't miss the lectures because you learn a ton of material each lecture.
This class was fantastic! Prof. Warren was funny, knowledgeable, and willing to help students . Exams were well made and and the classwork gives you that extra advantage. The material is not difficult to understand, as long as you are present in class and put in effort. I really enjoyed this class and highly recommend Prof. Warren.
Dr. Warren Menezes is a fantastic teacher. Chemistry isn't my strongest subject but the professor made the class material very easy to learn and understand. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Should be simple to get an A or B in the class if you pay attention to the lectures and spend your time on the work. Overall, great teacher!
Prof. Menezes does a great job at preparing you for his class. He genuinely cares about his students, and offers tons of extra credit opportunities! 3hr 40min lectures never felt as long as they seemed. Obtaining an A or B shouldnt be a huge challenge as long as you always show up to class and pay attention.
I highly recommend Professor Menezes! He was very helpful and just wants to see his students improve. Professor Menezes offers lots of extra credit opportunities and his lectures are very thorough, so just make sure you attend class to understand the subject. Overall, would take this course again.
Prof. Menezes is by far the best when it comes to making extra long lectures feel quick, you SHOULD NOT miss class because every class prepares you for the following, and each class is packed with loads of notes you NEED to excel on the hmwk, quizzes, and exams. You can tell he cares about every single students' success. Thanks Professor!
Nice guy; he wants everyone to do well. Offers extra credit. He will shows you one example of each problem and the rest is kind of self teaching/memorizing formulas. I've never taken Chem before and it was an easy class. Negatives: Lots of political talk and he always talks during the exams which is annoying cause it makes it hard to concentrate.
He is an extremely intelligent person. He cares about his students and is willing to give extra credit. If he sees you struggling he will help you with anything you need. I recommend taking his class.
I highly recommend taking CHEM 203 with Professor Menezes! Lectures in the class were never boring, and he made sure to be concise and always included everything important that you'd need to complete homework and lab assignments as well as the exams. He's always after class to go over anything you still didn't understand. Great Professor! 5 Stars.
Professor Menezes is an amazing teacher who really wants to see all of his students do well! Material is straight forward and he always makes you aware of what you will be quizzed and tested on! He makes lectures go by fast and is very funny! Highly recommend, you will not regret!
Words can not describe how amazing professor Menezes is . He never rushes, makes sure that you understand the lectures and takes time to answer any questions you might have. Yes, there are homework, class work, quizzes but those are the tools to help you succeed with the course. I highly recommend professor Menezes.
A really amazing professor who actually cares about his students and wants you to succeed.
One the best professor I have ever had, very straight forward and down to earth. His lectures are very good, if you pay attention and put in the work (do the homework) there is no reason why you won't get a good grade. Honestly the way he teaches is how I wish all teachers taught.
Taking Chem 203 with Professor Menezes was awesome! He is very caring and wants his students to succeed in and beyond the classroom. The class is pretty lecture-heavy, so DO NOT SKIP IT! ALWAYS do your assigned classwork and worksheet activities, not only is it for credit but they appear exactly like they would on exams. He also gives extra credit!
I'm in his online class now 5:30p-9p (online due to COVID) He's thorough in lecture and encourages you to ask questions. He's amicable, talks about his passions and current events, and we take a 30min break to eat dinner lol. Super approachable + effective teaching! He ensures no one is left behind. He gives a lot of positive reinforcement!
Mr. Menezes is a very caring professor. It can be difficult to listen to a chem lecture over zoom for over three hours, but he tries to make it bearable. The best thing about his class is the extra credit. On every classwork he added 10+ points if you got everything right. And made two chapter tests just extra credit! This class isn't easy though.
I already wrote a review, but it got taken off for some reason. Do not, please do not take this class. Professor doesnt let you express your opinion, his grading makes zero sense, and people who asked for help got shut down. His exams were packed with hard questions that we had VERY LITTLE time for and entire class had to use youtube for help.
don't take this man, he is challenging the students to pass his class, he will give you a quiz with 25 question and you have to get it done in 30 minutes. you will run out of time every quiz. and in his test when you finish one question and move to the next one you can Not go back an check your answers. ( All his labs from old years and quiz to
I had him a couple of semesters ago. By far the best science teacher at this school. The way his class is set up guarantees you to do well as long as you pay attention(which is not hard in his class) and try. You must be there for lectures and labs, or you will fall behind. He did a good job on the remote learning too! Thank you Prof. Menezes!
You wont go wrong with him. Class is pretty lecture heavy but as long as you attend and take good notes you should do well. He also give plenty extra credit to help boost your grade. You can tell he cares and is very organized.
Professor Menezes was definitely one of the best and nicest professor I ever had. Hes very chill in class. He gives great lectures that will help you understand the lesson and gives extra credits as well. Hes very understanding and will give you more time sometimes for the homework if you ask but it depends. Take his class, you wont regret!!!
Warren is a wonderful professor. I was scared to take chemistry because in the past I've never really done well in science classes but he is the best. The tests and quizzes are frequent but if you know the information and study you should be able to pass.
Don't miss his lectures and ask questions on anything if you don't understand because whatever he lectures about is on the exams and test!!! I took his morning class, but he was always cheerful and tries his best to keep his students engaged. DEFINITELY STUDY because chem itself is hard. you really have to know your material to pass.
The reviews on here are so MISLEADING.. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! GRADING IS TERRIBLE, for labs u will have multiple lab partners and doesnt keep up with grades. Test are timed, talks about his trips and then plays catch up. Rude! Doesnt hold the students best interest. The syllabus doesnt have EXAM DATES!! We took 3 exam plus midterm all in 1 wk
He doesn't actually teach in class, he puts on Zoom lectures from last semester and sits back for the rest of the 3 hours. His syllabus doesn't include when chapter tests are and if you take his class online, you have to install a lockdown browser and can't go back on test questions. DO NOT take this class. He's rude and constantly goes off-topic.
The professor Takes the time to help you out after class if something is confusing and gives out many examples in order for the student to understand the material
80% of lecture time is spent rambling about unrelated subjects, then the 20% where he is lecturing it doesn't make any sense. All the homework is due on the midterms, making it confusing as to which subjects to work on. Made the whole class tediously take pictures of work for every question without added time on the tests.
Professor Warren has taught me that we shouldn't be afraid of chemistry, but instead understand the wonders this course has in our everyday lives. His labs are beneficial when new materials are introduced. He is very passionate in his teachings, and if you want to succeed in chemistry and future courses I highly recommend him.
This was my first time taking a Chemistry class and though the material was new and a little difficult for me, he made the class a great learning environment and offered plenty of examples and help for students who needed it. I had my questions answered at office hours and could get a good understanding of material. Such a nice caring teacher.
Professor Warren was very respectful and mindful! He was not hard to approach when in need of help. He would make sure you understand what he was teaching. It was definitely a challenging course but if you study and focus, you will do great in his class!
Professor Warren made it clear what you needed to do to succeed in this course from the get-go. He was very flexible with his online lectures, and uploaded them anyway to accommodate for some students. The labs were helpful in understanding the applications of the material as well, and took the advice of students throughout the semester.
Professor Menezes cares a lot about his students. He is very conversational with us and likes to get to know his students. He is extremely available outside of class with lots of office hours. He is patient with students and makes the material more relevant. I have taken 2 classes with Professor Menezes and will mostly likely take a third.
Professor Menezes was very passionate about the subject matter and accessible for assistance with coursework or questions. The class was a bit homework heavy, but I think the repetition of problems helped the equations and processes to stick. I would highly recommend him as a professor to anyone needing to take Chemistry coursework.
If you are going to take a class with him, I'm going to advise you will need to be on ur A game because during labs there will be times where you do the calculations correctly and he'll say they're incorrect, however most of the times he was wrong and never apologizes. And let's say you have miscalculated the problem, it's likey he wont help you.
Dr Menezes is a phenomenal professor. He has tons of experience in chemistry and has been studying the subject his entire life. Take advantage of all the resources available, and you shouldn't have a problem getting the grade the you want, with the benefit of learning a whole lot about chemistry and the universe from an accomplished scientist.
Detailed lecture which are taped and can be re-watched if needed. It is a difficult class but Professor Menezes is easy to talk to and always willing to help you understand.
I took Professor Menezes during the spring and he was an awesome teacher! He's easy to access outside of class and gives lots of extra credit to bump up your grade. Only thing is beware of the tests! Majority of your grade is tests and so if you fail one it WILL DROP your grade. Aside from that lectures were interactive and engaging.
Exams are very long and tough multiple choices. Quizzes are done as a whole class which is very annoying. He put it on the screen and everyone keeps telling him to go back to a question so u loose your concentration!! I would never take his class again!! Careful on eating here it looks very misleading!!
Professor Menezes is very passionate about chemistry and is always attentive during lecture. His class is pretty test heavy but there is a lot of extra credit so you can easily make up for it. His class is challenging but you will definitely learn a lot about chemistry and the scientific process.
This guy on the second day gave 2 quizzes back to back. Its entirely inappropriate to do this during lecture. It's my second day with him and I'm having a poor time with this. Quizzes are 10% of the grade it's not fair to just randomly assign two in a row on the second day. THE SECOND DAY. Idc how nice he is its not a good practice.
Writing this before grade to not be biased Cons: bad at lectures ngl(organic chem tutor>),NEED ALEKS=$100ish, pop quiz given the same day new material taught like why:(?(might happen again) when asked for help, he will help halfway and tell you to figure the rest out XD, not always Pros: some xtra credit, labs=easy, given enough HW to practice
Be ready to teach yourself the entire class. Requires purchase of ALEKS (~$120). Lectures are long and spends most of the time on political tangents instead of teaching. Glosses over important material or skips it altogether. Will "teach" something then quiz it the same day. Every test/quiz has errors. Will laugh at you if you ask for help.
here is an update on my previous post 02/07: I think this class is structured in a way to help students succeed, except for Aleks, but the ton of hw he gives will def help you. He contradicts himself saying he wants students to ask him questions but then barely explains. I highly recommend the organic chem tutor on YT if you'll be taking his class.
prof menezes is one of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. he gives a lot of extra credits, he has very good lectures and makes the class fun to be in. very much recommended.
Professor Menezes makes complex topics accessible with clear explanation and engaging lectures. His passion for chemistry is contagious, and he is always ready to help you. He creates a positive learning environment and truly care about your success. highly recommend for anyone taking chemistry.
This professor has such a sassy attitude. He is not easily accessible out of class and is not available to help you're on your own. We have to purchase Aleks which is honestly a waste of money. The only things that matter for your grade are the quizzes and exams honestly. The only way you can pass this class is by doing well on the quizzes.
Professor is disorganized and rude.W/labs he would change the directions midway,i.e which lab step/packet sections to complete.Frequent mistakes in lecture problems, will deny any wrong.Irritable and condescending w/ Qs on equations/syllabus errors.Tests are unpredictable.Hard grader, lack of transparency(keeps quiz scantron). Unprofessional w/class!
Hello everyone, I took Warren Menezes' Chem 203 class last summer, and it's important to know that it was an 8-week class. Taking his class is very difficult because most of the questions on the exam are theory-based, even for calculation questions. Make sure to participate in class during Zoom sessions. There is extra credit opportunities.
A very forgiving class with the amount of extra credit given and the fact that you can resubmit labs, whilst he would go on tangents about the most random things sometimes, overall the point of what he was trying to teach was conveyed decently well. Lectures can get a bit boring but they're recorded and the HW helps with exam/quiz practice a lot.
Pros: It was a hybrid course Cons: Unnecessary tough grader Grading is not clear Lectures are disorganized Labs are disorganized Study guides were not helpful Wasn't easily accessible Did not return quizzes back --so you have to chase him down for his 1 hour office hour to see your quizzes and where you needed to improve Occasionally very rude
Gives extra credit but is the only good thing about him. VERY condescending. Can never be wrong. When you ask a question he doesn't fully answer it. VERY unorganized. Doesn't keep word to certain extra credit assignments. Genuinely wanted to soccer punch him a few times. Can tell he likes what he does but is just overall lost in how to teach it
Professor Menezes is passionate about chemistry, but his teaching style can be hit-or-miss. While he's helpful one-on-one, the class is homework-heavy with tough exams. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for practice and review.
Professor Menezes is great! He's easy-going and gives enough time to complete our assignments and quizzes. The class has bonus points, and he's flexible about showing up a little late. He explains things really well and uploads all the lectures online, which is super helpful. Highly recommend his class!
Professor Menezes class is well organized and forgiving, especially if you do all the assignments. The lectures and HW are very helpful for the test and exams. His lectures are content heavy, but relevant and provides time to review examples & questions. By the end of the course, you should have a solid understanding of chemistry.
Not able to retain information from his teaching style and setup
This professor can teach well and goes out of his way to learn about his students, which I appreciate. He offers many extra credit opportunities and is accommodating towards the working adult student.
This course will be challenging no matter who your professor is, but Professor Menezes was phenomenal. His lectures are informative and well-organized. There is a lot of homework, but it serves as an amazing study tool for exams, and it'll earn you EC. Be sure to take advantage of his office hours if you're having trouble, as he offers plenty
Does a great job at letting you know what to expect on your quizzes and exams. Quizzes hold you accountable for catching up on lectures. Do ALL the extra credit - even if you think you don't need it. TRUST ME. Attendance isn't mandatory but extremely encouraged. It's a hard class so don't expect to learn solely off the online resources provided.
Professor provided ample resources with enough extra credit opportunities. Lectures in class were heavy with info, but overall, useful for the exams. The study guides also played a major role. He'd gladly upload video lectures on the topics discussed. I appreciated his organization of the weekly coursework and his effort in class with examples.
