talk about mad and he expects you be to be up to parr with the education level he has. he demands perfection .. honestly dont take him hes not easy going at all not that the subject isnt hard enough he makes it worse
He piles up work to do in lab and doesnt explain clearly.. He expects you to read your lab book and do it..Basically teach your self!! He's scattered brained, and likes to dock points. I was so lost and Im an A student in all my BIO's.. take someone else who knows how to each students..
I found that as long as you studied his notes, his practice quizzes and attended his study sessions, you'll do just fine. He does grade pretty hard on his tests, but he really wants you to succeed. He's helpful and will never make you feel dumb for asking questions. Always willing to stay late or come in early to help students with questions.
Warren is a teacher who expects his students to think for themselves. If you are looking for a teacher to spoon feed you all the details for lab because you came unprepared you should look somewhere else. He sets the bar high because Micro is a difficult subject to memorize without comprehension. I found him to be helpful if slightly unorganized.
He was a great teacher. We didn't even have to buy a textbook because he said his lectures were clear and to the point. He took the extra time to meet with you if you missed labs. The tests were pretty difficult but everything on the test was on the lecture notes that he also posted on BB. He has tons of knowledge and really increased my interest!!
Unorganized, unstructured, & illogical. He shouldn't be a teacher. He wants to exert power & control over people to make up for personal inadequacies. He is a point docker & sets his students up to fail rather than succeed. I would NEVER recommend taking him for any class, which is a shame because he has a wealth of knowledge on the subject.
NEVER AGAIN!! He shouldn't be a teacher. He wants u to know that he is an expert in micro. We don't give a crap about ur beer fermentation for crying out loud. He is a point docker and sets his students up to fail rather than succeed. I would NEVER recommend taking him for ANY class. I am a straight A student and recieved a D in this class. WTH!!!!
a new teacher, still could work on his lectures but everything is crystal clear in his notes. he would see if the class was on the same page during difficult lectures. quick email response. there's some extra credit towards the end but i agree he had uness. docked points from me as well. he also provides examples of wine fermentation to everything!
I took him over the summer, worst professor I have ever had! He enjoys taking points away and wants students to fail. I would NEVER recommend him.
Lectures are poorly structured, he has a tendency to avoid directly answering questions. You had best memorize the book if you want anything above a C. His Labs are the only saving grace to his deplorable lectures. At least in Lab he knows how to teach. I reccomend taking Sasha Warren. After sitting in on her lectures I actually understood Micro.
I hated this class, I dreaded coming to it everyday. Horrible teacher, honestly speaking he wants u to pretty much memorize the book. Labs were ok. Lectures sucked. Poor guy cant teach for****. Straight A student and i failed the class. I usually catch on pretty quick, but this teacher has no mercy. I DONT RECEOMMEND HIM AT ALL!! TAKE HARRIET!!
I would never say anything bad about the teacher, but this time I have to. After reading all of the review I chose him and I was wrong. He is a great guy, but he can't teach and you will be lost on his tests. Some of the material you will see the first time ever. He grades his tests very hard and no curve at all. Don't know any one with "A"
I've never rated a professor before, but this guy is so bad that I have to. I'm an adult-A student, and withdrew his class. Test material that was never covered, lectures that were incomprehensible. TOTALLY UNORGANIZED and unfamilar with powerpoint slides. Correcting errors to exams during the exam on the blackboard. Students going to the dean.
This has to be one of the worst professors I have ever had! He is completely UNORGANIZED!! He told my class he was overwhelmed with teaching this class! NOT good for a Professor to say! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! He tests on things he hasn't covered! I feel bad if you get stuck with this Professor!
Dr Place tells you before the class even starts that if you don't have the time to devote to this class, you should drop. He was helpful in study techniques, but not so much on what to study for the exams. Very tough class, most of the test/exam material is straight out of the book in different forms. Won't spoon feed you the information
A hard Class, Quizes didn't make sense with his Notes, He grades hard, and not a good teacher,I went to tutoring, dint help, I wouldnt recommend him.
He is an excellent teacher! I took Micro over the summer and while the class was hard, it was worth taking it with this teacher. He gives 4 quizzes, 2 lecture exams, 2 lab exams, and a comprehensive final. There is a group project in the class. Other assignments include a morphological and physiological unknown, and lab notebook checks.
People are so funny. Dr. place is a great professor. Honestly, he would do anything to help you understand something, but he is not going to tell you exactly that will be on the tests. He is a tough grader and never falls for a sob story. Honestly, I think people who rate him poorly just don't commit the time to the class. It is a hard class.
He is the most helpful professor I have ever had! People who compain, just do not have the time to put into the class. He's not going to make it super easy on you by giving you a break on your test score, or telling you exactly what you will see on the exams, but he will teach his lil heart out. Seriously, he is great.
This is a really hard class. You may do poorly on the quizzes, but the point is to make you study hard, and they're not worth that much. He is very available and will help you understand a concept for as long as it takes. Labs can be a little disorganized, but he also grades them easy. Seriously, if you're willing to work, you'll do fine.
I was really mad at him at the beginning of the semester because he graded quizzes and tests so hard. I'll bet most of these negative reviews are from students who dropped out. Not only did he ease up a bit after the bad students dropped out, but I learned how to study better and ended up with a good grade. He's a great and helpful professor!
Very hard class! He doesn't just want you to get a good grade, he wants and expects you to understand the content. He will answer all questions, but you HAVE to put in the work. Quizzes are hard. My advice study labs prior to class. Too many students dropped, if you cant hang, don't waste the seat. Good teacher in the end.
I am currently a nursing major and have taken numerous biology courses and passed with high grades. I had taken Prof. Place over the summer and that was a mistake. He is extremely helpful but his expectations for the summer course are way too high. His grading is ridiculous in that he wants "word-for-word" answers and marks you down if you don't
warning to all fellow pre nursing students: stay away from this professor. This is my last nursing pre-req (all other classes I have recieved As and Bs). I even got a B in human anatomy SUMMER course. If you want an instructor whos study guides dont match the test, gets enjoyment out of tricking you & inconsistent grading than be my guest. AWFUL :(
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! ALL YEAR LONG HE FEELS LIKE HE HAS TO BE AGAINST THE CLASS... WARREN VS BIO CLASS, HE HAS 0 CONSIDERATION FOR STUDENTS, DOESN'T RESPECT OTHER TEACHERS, AND THINKS HE IS THE BEST !STAY AWAY STUDENTS! DRIVE TO OTHER SCHOOLS IF YOU HAVE TO ! JUST STAY AWAY HE IS HORRIBLE AND DRESSES LIKE A KID !
Worst teacher ever! He can't teach to save his life. Expects you to remember all the little details and sets you up for failure. I am a straight A student, but not after taking this guy. I studied all the time and pulled D's on all of my quizzes. I have an A in lecture (taught by another teacher)and a C/D in lab that should say something.HORRIBLE!
He expects you to remember an unreasonable amount of information. He is trying to justify that he has a PhD in the subject and prove it matters that he wasted years of his life getting it. DO NOT TAKE HIM!! I am a good student and will go on to med school, but this professor is awful.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE HAD SO FAR!!!! I have always been a good student and have done well and he almost ruined the entire subject for me, he gives out a study guide which is practically useless for preparing for the test and grades totally unfairly. I have never gotten a C in a class let alone a D.
This is not an easy class. Warren is a really nice person, but not the best at teaching, as he tends to ramble and often runs out of lecture time. To get a good grade form a good study group, go over the study guide with lecture notes and book before tests and quizes, and do all the extra credit. And learn to love yeast.
He can sometimes be confusing, but he also seems to have a desire to improve as a teacher, which he did throughout the semester. he is extremely willing to work with you, and always responds to his emails within an hour. just make sure you do all the extra credi. dont wait till the last moment, most of the people who failed were crammers.
It very weird to me how people say these things about him bc Warren is an amazing teacher who really cares about his students and is super approachable. He is tough but you need to really learn your material if you are in this major and he makes you to learn everything. You have to study really hard, but it's doable and with effort you can get an A
These comments are definitely coming from people who dropped the first few weeks. This class is hard and he makes it even harder for sure. He even says its a hard class but he explains everything very well and honestly the tests and quizzes are easy if you study for them. He has a great study guide that really helps for quizzes.
Warren expects a lot from his students, but it is still manageable. Go to class, do the study guide, find a study group, use his office hours/ email to clarify any questions. He is a great resource and is always willing to help. I treated this as a university level class because I think its what I can expect in my future.
Place is one of the worst teachers I've had. His exams are just bogus. You would think exams are for testing applications of what you learned or why something works the way it does, but he asks questions of little relevance. He grades MUCH harder than he teaches. Over half the class drops, with class avg of a D for those that stay. AVOID HIM.
Amazing! He is the best teacher if you need to learn bio for your major. He really makes you study and his hard tests and quizzes will prepare u for your major. Take him only if ure a good student and want to learn bio bc its not an easy class. If you dont get a good grade its only bc you didnt try enough coz he is super helpful and always available
He knows the subject. However he is very much a tech nerd and will waste time in lab and lecture with his power points and computer. He also beats a dead horse so much that after 10 mins you will get bored. I wrote this review while he took an hour to explain acid fast stain. Better teachers are out there
Alright guys, here are the main points of this guy: 1)He expects you to know just as much as he does, so sign your life to micro. 2)He rants and goes off on seemingly unimportant things 3)Quizes are insanely hard. STUDY. 4)I'm an average student and I'm barely pulling off a C. 5)If you can:TAKE SASHA 6)If you take Place, may The Lord bless you.
His grading is outrageous. Tests are impossible and he thinks everyone wants to be a microbiologist. My suggestion it drop the class, don't take it...avoid him at all costs. Over half of the class dropped and of the few left most of us barely had C's one A in the class.
Take Sasha Warren. Take another teacher. Take Sasha. Take a different teacher. Did you get that? Do. Not. Take. This. Teacher. Take Sasha. You'll be happier and filled with microbiology information that pull understand. And she's super nice.
All I did was study for his class and I got a B-!! I am an A student but that didn't help at all! He expects way too much and there is no way you can remember/learn it all. You definitely don't learn the material. He doesn't care about making it manageable for students. Not sure what his deal is. DO NOT TAKE HIM! You'll just have to take it again.
If GPA is important to you, do not take him. The class started with 26 students and half way through the course 11 students were left. What's that tell you? He's unapproachable person. His quizzes and exams are extremely difficult. This course requires LOTS of your time to do LOTS of assignments. So I recommend to take it alone or someone else.
Micro is awesome. The material is interesting and you WILL pass if you put in the effort. However, Warren himself is a leech: his exams are manageable with the study guide and the handouts help ALOT, but the quizzes and assignments: he will mark you down for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!! I've never met a more parasitic grader in my student career! AVOID!
Warren is a very helpful, funny, kinda nerdy professor. The material is hard which makes Warren seem like a bad teacher but in reality it's not Warren it's the material. His tests all come from the study guide and his notes. I got the book and never used it. There is a huge mix of memorization and conceptual material. Warren was Great!
Warren was a great teacher, he is very knowledgeable and knows the material and is definitely approachable. Taking any science course requires a lot of effort and planned study time. If the material is hard to grasp, use all the study materials provided! A's are obtainable with effort.
Don't miss class. Make sure you have at least 1-2 hours per day to study. The final was pretty easy. The quizzes are harder than the tests. But overall, the class will make you work. Do the work and you will succeed.
This class has been extremely enjoyable. It is hard when any lecture is missed but he is great with communication on sending notes. Tests are true to the notes. He has been a fair test giver and helpful where possible. It is just hard in general. The little bit on genetics is so fun. Love love love this class. Intro to bio helped with understanding
Micro is hard so this class is no easy A by any means. Put in the required study time and use Warrensburg office hours for xtra help and you will pass. I got an A! He's really not that bad
You either love or hate this prof and I loved him. He really broke down all the concepts and made them easy to understand. Tests were straight forward. Has a great sense of humor. Really helpful if you go and ask him!
Basically, Death. He's really passionate about what he does, but makes no sense. This was the most difficult class I have ever taken. Coming from someone, who, before this class, had a 4.0 GPA. If you do take this class, plan on having no life. Countless hours will be studying to barely pass with a B-. GOODLUCK! May the odds be ever in your favor.
Microbiology is difficult, but the reviews here make it out to be worse than it is . Tests are fair, his lectures are clear, and he is incredibly patient and approachable. Study the lecture notes, read the book, go to lecture. Put in the time and you will get an A. He wouldn't be doing you any favors making it any easier than that. I got a high A.
Pay close attention to every word that comes out of his mouth, in all likely-hood it will be material posted on the exam. Tests are heavily detail-oriented, just understanding the broad subjectprocess will not cut it. The tests are extremely difficult, if gpa is important to you i would strongly recommend against taking this class.
Warren Place is not the worst Microbiology teacher people say he is, he is actually very good. I read the chapters in the textbook, did his review quizzes, and attended all lectures and earned an A in the class. His quizzes are challenging and his class is a lot of work but it is very doable. You just have to really make an effort.
He is a tough grader. His lectures were fine, but his explanation were confusing at times. When ask during lectures about examples for a certain topic , he seldom have an answer. He always have an excuse like he did not read it or it is on top of his head. Do not take him. He destroys students. I have a 4.0 gpa, and because of him, I have a 3.5 gpa
He is really passionate about the subject, but when it comes to tests, the expectations are way too high. He says stuff wont be on the test, but it ends up being on there. Plan on working super hard if you plan on passing.
its almost the end of the semester and I have an A in his class. His tests are tough, for all the exams i know 99.9% of the information we need to know, and i still get an average of 94% percent on the exams. The problem is his wording, its not enough to know the information to get an A, you have to have raw IQ to even understand what he is asking.
THIS IS A HARD CLASS. Most of these reviews are from students who were not willing to put in work. You have to meet with study groups! There is almost no homework so your grade depends on your tests. Warren knows so much and he is so enthusiatic about what he teaches. Ask questions, study often, show up to class. He is a great teacher.
Very, very tough grader! Tests are very detailed so expect to just memorize every word he says. Only 5 quizzes, but as hard as tests! Yes, its micro, but lectures are just confusing. You literally have to know 100% of the material to squeeze by with an A. VERY TOUGH! I would take from a different teacher if i were you
Obviously, Microbiology isn't easy, so don't expect it to be. If you attend every lecture and record it and answer all the questions in his study guide from his lectures you'll be fine. I never read the text book because he tests from his lectures. There is work constantly in this class, there will be no relief. You MUST get a good lab partner.
I have no idea what he is talking about
Explains very fast with no clarity . Hard test even if you study hard NOT recommended if you want to pass
The information was straightforward and everything was simple, PSHH YEA RIGHT. Lab and lectures go by as soon as the test comes. THE TEST IS FILLED WITH THINGS THAT WERE NOT MENTIONED ON STUDY GUIDES OR NOTES. He has talked about everything but never puts the things gone over multiple times on the test. I wouldn't recommend at ALL.
This was my second time taking micro, i took it at chico state and I gotta say he was a harder grader than the CSU professor i had. My first Lecture test i got a D and it was my fault, but the second lecture test i studied really hard but if you miss one his short answer/essay questions youre looking at a 10 point drop.
Ask him about what you're confused about and he'll explain it to the best of his abilities. With that being said, even after logging in about ten hours of studying, i still wasn't able to get passed a C. Tests are extremely hard. Class activities are fairly enjoyable, but lectures are long and hard to always pay attention to. Wouldn't recommend.
Warren is genuinely a kind person, is clear, & is a bit awkward which makes it funny. People give him a hard time b/c they didn't work hard enough or complained too much about how hard the class was. If you study every day, take notes, attend lectures & labs, you're all set. Tests are all straight from lecture notes & lab notes. Don't buy the book!
Micro was an incredibly difficult class. Professor Warren made the class enjoyable and interesting. He is a tough grader and expect to spend the majority of your free time studying. He provides you with all the info needed to get an A in the class but it is up to you to put in the effort. He is extremely fair and always willing to help.
As a person, I liked him. He is very passionate about Microbiology. He is a very tough grader though. Be sure to ask him a lot of questions. He will work with you and sit down with you to explain everything. Ask questions during a test. Do not assume you understand what he is asking, I wouldve done far better if i had understood his test questions
Overall, he was a cool guy. As others have said, he is very passionate about microbiology. However, he is the head of the department so the class is very hard. There are 6 tests total and they are DIFFICULT. I am a straight a student and I have to study 20 hours before a test to even get a B! He is a nice guy though. Dryish sense of humor.
Warren Place is very smart. He has been in Microbiology field for a long time. That being said he isn't the best of teachers. The setup of the class is very jumbled. Not enough time to finish during lab time so make sure you give extra hours in open lab. Even then he only grades 5 out of the 24 labs given which to me is ridiculous. Hardest grader.
Great Teacher!! If you are UC bound or a biology major this is the class to take, by the end of the semester you will know micro inside and out and have a very solid foundation.
Great Professor! Many people think he is a terrible teacher, however, I took his class it wasnt too bad. He cares about his students. If you dont study dont expect to pass the class. All bio classes require studying! Overall good Professor and helped with everything:)
If you have the chance to switch to a different professor, DO IT! I went into this class with straight A's from University level courses and struggled. It didn't matter how much I studied, Warren makes it impossible to succeed. He is not approachable and his expectations reach far beyond what is possible. I worked my butt off for failing grades.
Straight A student, received a C+ He has a passion for microbiology but he is the worst teacher I've ever had. Lectures aren't clear as he goes on rants and questions receive "I don't know". Tests include "Choose all that apply" and are credit/no credit, causing very low test scores. Labs get docked points if answers aren't straight from his brain.
Hes a good teacher, but his tests and quizzes are very difficult! You really have to study HARD, he finds reasons to take points off things. You do 23 labs but only 5 randomly checked so you never know which/when theyre due. Theres a group project/paper that takes a lot of effort and prep- do not fall behind on that. In all its very difficult!!
I took the hybrid class and did not have him as my lab instructor, only for the lecture portion. I'll tell you the trick. Listen closely to his lectures, record them if ur on campus. Make flashcards for EVERY SINGLE THING HE SAYS, turn his statements into questions for urself & study straight from those. Don't just rely on the packets he gives.
Hes a good teacher in regards. His lectures are extremely fast paced and he pauses with a lot of "um"s and corrects himself A LOT. Makes it difficult to learn anything during lectures when he goes on rants then says "oh wait" so frequently... Tough grader, strange questions on quizzes/exams. You will have to put your life into his class.
Group paper, 20+ mostly small labs (with easy work sheets), and 5 exams. The passion shows in his teaching but you do need to meet him halfway and put in the work to do well He gives you everything needed to get an A. Test content in the lectures + study guides and the paper rubric listing everything point by point.
Taking professor place this term and is he the hardest professor I have ever had. Lectures very detailed and he expects you to remember every single little detail for exams. I am a nurse and this is by far the hardest professor I have had. This is a gen ed class/ prerequisite but he does not test like it.
Worst teacher I have ever had throughout my entire college experience. He does not care about his students. He teaches only to show how smart he is. It's disgraceful to even call this man an educator. Teachers are meant to be passionate and to help the students succeed as much as they can. Warren Place, is not that person. Do not take his class.
This class was unlike anything I've ever taken before. I can now say I hate microbiology because of this imbecile. I would rather have the infectious bacteria we work with poison me just so I can receive the credits and would never have to return and relive the trauma this course has put me through. For the love of science, don't choose Warren.
I was kinda freaked out when his class was the only one available bc of the reviews i reason here. Maybe he read the reviews and changed his ways bc he literally goes above and beyond to make this easy. He prints out all the slide notes so we dont have to hand write them. There are NUMEROUS study guides, his lectures are available online.
You need to commit A LOT of time studying. It is possible to pass this class with a good grade if you put in the effort. The study guide is a great outline to study from. He's a good professor, and not as bad as people say he is. People rate him poorly because they don't try hard enough. He's available to ask questions and is always there to help.
This was not a good class. Beware! It is lecture heavy, he doesn't explain well, and many test questions are on material he did not cover or ask to be reviewed. This class is very difficult and a lot of study time is needed to study above and beyond what he "teaches." Do not take his class unless you absolutely have to.
Do not take this professor. I took this class online and I withdrew. Everyone got Cs and Ds on the first test and he refuses to curve anything because it's our fault we failed. It is SO much material. I mean 10 pages worth of study guide answers that you have to memorize to pass the tests. Not easy to contact and no personable. You will not pass.
WORST possible teacher a student could have. You are graded on such few things in this class and he's VERY specific with grading. Example: he took 0.5 off our group project because our picture was not big enough. This picture was the size of ONE WHOLE google doc page. If he took 0.5 for that, you can imagine how test grading is like. Replace place!
Whatever you do, PLEASE do not take him. Exams are extremely hard and have barely anything to do with lecture material. Lecture drags on, you have to increase the speed because hes so monotone and slow. Tough, particular grader who basically enjoys making his students cry. To put this in perspective, only 9 students remain of 25. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Awful! He provides his own lecture notes to fill out and study from; however, there is so much information in these packets they're not that helpful. He does not explain the material very well/is very vague. Lecture tests/ quizzes are nearly impossible and require a ridiculous amount of studying. Over half the class dropped... REPLACE PLACE!
Worse teacher I've ever had. Had to take him just because he was the only professor available and I wish I hadn't cause he completely wasted my time. He grades all assignments extremely hard and exams are impossible to pass. I had to withdraw because there was no way I would have passed the class. In my opinion he should not be teaching this class.
An A student struggling. Study guides aren't really helpful. Really critiques the exams. About 20 lab wkshts worth a total of 19 pts. No matter how much I put into studying, it doesn't feel like it makes a difference. When I take the exams I can't get a B. Nice guy, but take as a last resort.
I remember going on here and reading all of the horrible reviews for this professor and freaking out because he was my only option. But taking this class, he really isn't as bad as people say. The prof gives students all the tools they need to pass the tests-study guides, powerpoint handouts & more. The class is hard but possible to get an A.
Review till memorization! Ask questions! Tests entirely from course material, no surprises. Worked full-time while taking, only regret was not taking more vacation days off to study, I fell behind during first 1/2, then rallied with vacation days to study and my grade improved greatly! Not advisable to take this course with another.
Like others, I was a bit nervous to take Micro with Professor Place because of previous bad reviews, but honestly he is one of my favorite professors I've had. You absolutely have to put in A LOT of work, more than other classes. But the lectures are great, study guides are super helpful, and he knows his stuff. But DO NOT TAKE WITH ANOTHER CLASS!
Class is lecture heavy & grade depends on quiz/test grades. Don't like how he grades quizzes, if you miss more than 2 ?'s you're getting into C/D range. Exams are info-heavy/could split into 2. Long vids and voice is monotone. Had to watch on 1.5x b/c he talks slowly. Nice guy but should have more lecture practice instead of relying on his tutor.
Great professor who provides all the necessary material for his students to succeed.
A great person that is passionate about micro. However I found his way of teaching to be difficult to learn from. Recommend using the packet of notes he gives you as your main study material. This class is very difficult and will take up most of your time. But if you put in the effort you can do it.
This class is a real challenge, but using Unstuck study along with the textbook and going to office hours can really help. The exams cover a ton of material, so be prepared to put in the work. The professor is knowledgeable but can be tough on grading. Overall, a rewarding course if you're up for the challenge.
The content of the class is hard no matter who you take it with. He was always very clear with what he expected, and what would be vs what would not be on the exams. He is also very meticulous with answering questions which was incredibly helpful, and always offered many opportunities for questions. Lots of material, but very doable.
DO NOT recommend this professor to anyone looking for a good grade. He doesn't do much teaching, his lectures are all online and expects you to understand microbiology completely. The tests are extremely difficult. Unfortunately if you have to take this teacher I really do recommend quitting your job and only take this 1 class if you want to pass.
Warren was honestly one of the better instructors I have had at Sierra. This course in general is very challenging and requires you to put in the work but if you apply yourself and study you'll be able to pass no problem. I was able to work 20 hours a week while taking 3 other courses and still get a B, it's all about time management.
Microbiology is hard and nothing will change that. I had a full course load of 15 units and a part time job working 15-20 hours a week. I got a B. its hard but not quit your job and leave all your other classes behind hard. Several other people with the same work load as me got the same grade. If you do the work and do it well, you'll be fine.
Professor Place is passionate about the subject he teaches. He will meet you halfway if you're willing to put in the effort. This class was hard but IS doable, maybe don't take it with another science course if you want an A. Textbook wasn't always necessary so don't spend too much time reading it, watch the lecture/lab videos and you'll be fine
Long confusing lectures. Deliberately wrote tests to trick students and admitted it. I had an A the entire semester then he changed it to a B after final grades were due and deleted his canvas so I couldn't see why. Does not want his students to do well in his class.
This is the most difficult class I've taken. That said, you CAN get a good grade if you put in the time. Lab every class day, lectures online. I didn't use textbook. 4 exams, 5 quizzes, 1 semester group project. Strict, but quick grader. Confusing test questions. He's helpful in class, but long-winded. I had fun at times. Not great, not terrible.
Honestly not sure why he gets so much hate. Yea he's a hard grader but his class is doable and you can def get an A in it. Don't bother with the textbook, focus on the lectures and use google notebook to study (start studying WAY in advance). He's a really nice guy, super approachable, really fast grader. Just don't underestimate the difficulty.
For sure one of the toughest professors I've ever taken. Very tough grader and it almost seems like he tries to look for any minuscule thing to mark points off. If you're used to getting good grades without studying much, this class will humble you. It's definitely possible to do well, you'll just need to dedicate a lot of time to studying.
Warren is a good professor! He is a really nice, sweet guy, who is very passionate about what he teaches, and he truly does care for his students! His teaching style is a bit difficult to grasp at times, but it is doable. When taking his class, make sure to understand all the concepts rather than just memorizing terms etc.
