great teacher! he knows alot about econ! its alot of work and alot to keep up with but he makes it understandable and knows what he is talking about! i would recommend him to take!
Ok teacher gives out study guides for all tests not a great teacher but easy to catch on if you read the book and study. Huge essay due at the end of the semester and lots of work but if you work a little you can definitely pass! Boring lectures and a bit confusing. Not terrible :/
If you want to learn about economy he is the right professor to sign up for. He tells you as it is. You got to work hard for your grade but in the end you will learn about economy.
Completely ridiculous. If you already know a lot about macroeconomics you will do great, but this class was very hard. Big group paper and presentation at the end. Easy but he assigns work all the time so you never have time to work on it. If you can take someone else
must study to pass the tests. 4 tests, drops the lowest, 2 group projects, weekly homework on connect. nice teacher with willingness to help although he assumes you know about economics. must read the book and understand what your reading to pass the tests. its in your best interest to ask lots of questions!!!
took him for macroeconomics and it was extrememly difficult. previous comment is very true.. his tests are trick questions which arent fair. i feel like im craming info in my head but not understanding the concept. he's a business man NOT a teacher.
He is a great person, but a horrible professor. Does not tell you if you have homework, he just assumes that you should go on connect everyday to check as if it were an online class. You barely learn anything because he makes the students teach the chapters. Very difficult class!
Cool teacher. very knowledgible about subject matter and plenty of opprotunities to pass his class. #1 tip. pay attention to everytthing he says. This isn't a skip class at all and the text book and note are your life in that class. He does give helpful reviews and studyguides. keep this in mind and you will do good.
Would've made a better grade if i study more. you will be an economics major if you try. you must study and read your book at least twice a week and go to class. i recommend this class to learn economics
Professor Smith is too lazy to grade papers so he assigns a group paper. My group is the reason I got a B in the class instead of an A. I am not a B student and Professor did not even let me do the extra credit! If you can take someone else, take them.
He is laid-back, but also boring during his lectures. He means well and knows his stuff, but need work on his teaching style. This is not the class to take when you have other courses. Difficult to keep up with the work and very short-notice with tests. Don't take with more than two other courses.
He was probably the best teacher I had all semester. He gave us study guides for every test and told us what our essays would be on. You basically let you know what you needed to study for and gave you the tools to do it. If you used his tools you could ace every test. I received only one B and the rest were As, his class is possible to pass.
He is the BEST prof. on the LW campus that teaches Macroecon. His tests are exactly like the study guides but off course, remixed. And the group paper, start as early as possible!!! Make sure everything is perfect. Go to SLC for HELP!
EASY CLASS!! drops the lowest grade and his study questions are the SAME as the test.
I took macroeconomics with him and I liked him so much I am taking microeconomics with him as well. You must study from the reviews, notes won't be enough. Great professor!
Class is average. Good proessor.
good professor, study in advance and always do study guides. not everything on test is covered in text, so always do reviews!
Good Professor. Expects you to study and do homework. He givers study guides and a lot of extra credit opportunity.
He's an amazing teacher. He cares very much about his students and do what he can to help.
Unreasonable amount of work. You'll find yourself overwhelmed and wishing you didn't take his economics class. nuff said.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ONLINE! He does not know how to use Blackboard. He continuously adds and deletes his announcements. TERRIBLE TEACHER!
Awesome teacher. Took him for Summer A. Never had a class all get along so well. His study guides are similar the tests, so make sure you study them! Group project/paper at the end. Easy to get in touch with and very informative on every subject. Besides the group project, everything went smooth with this class. Great professor, highly recommended
This class you need study a lot. if you do not study do not waste you time. His online home work does not make sense and not even tutors can answer some of those question. his teaching skill are based on power point, you have to be good working with formulas in this class and math. Economics is a dismal science.
He's an extremely helpful teacher!! I took both micro and macro with him in the same semester and did very well! as long as you put in the effort, he's willing to help and go the extra miles to help you! got an A in both classes!
Worst teacher ever! Your grade is based all on test. I had no idea what he was talking about and he expects you to know everything.
Great teacher and certainly knows everything he is talking about. However, not the easiest subject if you do not have prior knowledge on the terms. Tests are hard BUT if you study the study guides, they WILL help 100% Gives multiple chances of extra credit and explains how everything has to be done. I'm a senior in highschool and passed with a B
Extremely difficult class if you have no prior knowledge like myself. This is the class I spend most of my time studying for. He's very helpful, smart, and understanding. Just an overall difficult subject. Large group project and some papers to write. Tests are mult. choice but may include essay Qs or calculations.
This class was extremely easy. It was almost like him giving me an A just for completing the study guides he gives. His tests come 100% from there. He gives SO much extracredit it's ridiculous. Definitely take him if you have the chance to because you won't regret it. Oh also, he drops the lowest test.
He's a genuinely nice guy, who really knows what he is talking about, but he I don't think he's cut out to be a professor. This is more of a "read on your own and pretend you know what he's talking about in class" because he doesn't explain things clearly. All of the tests come STRAIGHT from the study guide (same questions) so STUDY them!
Okay, professor. He is educated with the material just does not know how to teach it properly. STUDY THE STUDY GUIDES! Same as the tests. The group project is way to stressful.
Professor Smith is a really great guy. It is not hard to get a good grade in this class! Study guides are a replica of the tests. In my opinion, these comments are not accurate here. He is so interactive with the class and wants everyone to understand. If you don't get it, ask. I took him for macro and I will take him again for micro too! Take him!
Professor Smith is very helpful. I really enjoyed his in class discussions.I took his class for 6 weeks, its best to keep track of your online assignments. The study-guide will be your best friend so answer all questions. If I could take Micro with him in class instead of online I would, he really gets you thinking.
I love economics so I thought that taking his Macroeconomics class online would be super easy... I was extremely wrong. The book was almost $200 and I barely used it. I wrote him several emails, with no response. The hw assignments weren't in the book or in his lecture. BUYER BEWARE!! Pay for something worthwhile.
His class is very monotone. It can be interesting if you are into economics, if you are not and are just taking it for credit then it will be very boring. Easy work but tests get harder as the time goes by. study your quizzes and your homework and you will make it just fine.
This professor made me regret taking his class the entire semester. The amount of work is overwhelming if you have other classes, and his lectures are boring and useless, since he doesn't really teach, but questions you from the book that you HAVE to read entirely or won't pass or do well in the insane amount of HW and tests. Buy another class.
OMG! This is the hardest class I have ever taken. The exams are ridiculous! Only one or two questions will come from the practice. The time is very limited compared to the amount of questions. The homework and practice may be your only good grades, but as for the quizzes and exams; good luck... Not to mention the overly specified project.
I took this professor because Rate My Professor rated him as 3.2 and average. Professor test are so hard even though you study and do all the assignments. The time for the quizzes and exams are very short. I feel like crying because I try so hard to get a good grade for this class but the test are preposterous! DON"T TAKE HIM!
He is a good teacher and all but his tests and quiz are hard. If you don't have prior knowledge of economics and want an easy course, do not take him. I did enjoy his class though
Professor Smith is one of the best teachers I have come across. He is very into what he is teaching, is there to help you, and truly cares. I had him for micro and macro, TAKE HIM!
This class was easy! I took it online and as long as you do the homework and watch the lectures you'll get an A.
I took this class online and got an A! It wasn't an easy A by any means but not impossible either. Professor Smith assigns a lot of homework but most of the questions in the tests come from it. His tests are a bit tough so you do have to study for them. He's a tough but fair grader on papers and discussion boards so write them with enough time.
Professor Smith is a great professor. He loves to bring the whole class into his discussions and doesn't like when people don't participate. Homework and quizzes have basically the same questions. I took his class half online and half in class and it was fairly easy. I would recommend this professor if you are taking economics.
Excellent professor! Lots of hw and testquizzes so you need to stay on top of things. Prof. Smith honestly changed the way I think about economics. You have to put the hard work in, but he is more than fair. The course moves quickly and it is easy to fall behind. Stern, fair, smart and funny. One of those professors who you will happily remember!
Great professor, really knows what he's talking about. Sure, if you want to skip class, he might not be the best choice -- but if you're at all serious about being successful in school, that won't be a problem. Prof Smith answered all my emails promptly and graded fairly.
I took the hybrid class where you take tests from home but the final was in class. For the first couple tests the answer could all be found online, but then they got more difficult and I couldn't find answers online. Lots of quizzes and homework. Boring class...
This class is ridiculous if you take it online. I wouldn't wish the exams on any of my worst enemies. He DOES NOT give you enough time to take the exams or the Quizzes, not to mention that the exam questions are ridiculous. It is nearly impossible to get an A on any of them. I had straight A's but this is going to be my first B.
Extremely tough professor. No help for you if you ask. Hardly responds to requests via email. Did grade quickly. Monotone voice so lost interest in lectures fast. Tough quizzes and exams. Great discussion questions though!
While he may lecture for a good 80-90% every class period, he is very helpful and humorous! He just has a semester paper and presentation that is probably overly specified, but either than that, work is simple and easy. Tests might be difficult but if you study, you'll pass!
Everything is online in this class except for the group project and final exam, this is a class where a lot of assignments are given but they are mostly quick online busy work type assignments. The group project is a 2000-2500 word APA format paper on a country's economy, you are given a continent and your group picks the country you do it on.
This professor is highly educated in economics and he also has a nice sense of humor. He's a great guy with a lot of knowledge and tried his best to explain things thoroughly. Be serious about hw assignments because they will affect your grade. Tests are tough, know all the equations and study before the tests! If you put in work, you will pass.
Professor Smith is passionate about economics and for sure is a knowledgeable professor. Take him if you know you aren't going to slack. He makes you work for your grade but you learn a lot.
Trying to take this course online is extremely difficult. It is very hard to get ahold of the Professor through email. He puts grades in within a week if he has to manually grade it. He does not teach. I learned most of the material w/ outside resources. There is not ample time to learn the material and do the homework assignments and take the quiz
Get ready to do a lot of tedious work. He is a meticulous grader and follows the syllabus to the word. He gives A LOT of work but most of it is easy except for the exams which are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. If you put in the work and do your assignments on time you should be fine, he is very strict with deadlines so DO NOT fall behind.
Don't take his express class online. He gives so many assignments with little time to complete them. The exams are extremely difficult. You have 3 discussions original post 300 and one reply 200 words. He does not teach you learn through little lectures on a McGraw software. BEWARE! Be prepared to teach yourself! this professor sucks!
He doesnt cover the material in the book. He just goes on talking about unrelated stuff. I m dreading the exam because we barely covered anything in class.
Gives ridiculous amount of work to do, extremely long lectures. Makes you take tons of notes but doesn't allow them to be used during exams....
This class is a teach yourself. My class started with 30 people and ended up with 13. There is weekly learnsmarts and homework. The only way to pass is by doing all your homework, reading, watching his lectures, taking notes, and attending class. I only passed because I taught myself everything. *Also there is a research paper. Very time consuming.
I cant believe all the people complaining about this professor. Economics is something that will benefit you in life even if it is not your major. Homework and learn-smart only take 1.5 -2 per week. That is the minimum you should be studying for a class anyways. I recommend you take the professor if you want to learn. If not, why are you in school?
Macroeconomics with Professor Smith can be intimating, but it's a rewarding class that only gets better as the semester rogresses. The amount of knowledge gained from the readings and in class discussions far more exceed the time invested in doing the assignments. The only requirement for this class is a commitment to learning. Do the work!
Extremely time consuming class. Tests , discussions, and homework are all very time consuming. There's also an extremely long research paper due in the second half of the semester that takes a good amount of effort to write. I just think there are better options than Prof. Smith that teach the material better without such a high workload.
I do not understand why Professor Smith has such a bad reputation, he is a truly a one-of-a-kind professor that understands economics inside and out. The class is generally simple with Learnsmart, homework exercises, test, and reading each week. The test's can be difficult, but if you study you will pass. Do not take if you just want an A.
Professor Smith has completely changed his learning style this past year! The course is composed of Connect assignments and online quizzes. He is is also a very nice and funny teacher with every interesting lectures. The last quiz counts as the fianl and he also drops grades. Honestly, if you want to pass Micro or Macro, this is the class to take!
one of the most difficult classes I've taken. To get a decent grade you really have to work for it.
The work is mind numbing and tedious. Somehow this class managed to take a very cool topic like Macroeconomics and make me despise every assignment. All of the work is done through SmartConnect which required 2-4 hours per assignment to complete and the lessons are incredibly boring. Little effort by the professor to make this class engaging.
I like the structure of the class. It is pretty well laid out & consistent. The homework is very time consuming though (can be hours of your time), however you can check your answers on most assignments. The tests are a bit challenging. Also, getting an 100% on a discussion board question assignment can be a hard reach. He's available when needed.
Very very BAD Professor, he makes us watch lectures on line then in class rants and raves about his own personal opinions. Research paper and homeworks take up most of your time and then makes this class more important than the rest. DO NOT TAKE.
This class is really easy. You need the online access code for assignments but you dont need the test book. Its a lot of busy work but its easy to pass
He doesn't really teach in a way to understand, he always tells us to pay attention to LS & HW for the tests but the tests are hard, no matter how much u study. You have to use lockdown browser as well & he records you. You have to do a group project. If you like online assignments, he'll be okay too take. He isnt too bad, could do better.
Lockdown browser! Which is just kind of inconvenient if you don't live alone. Tests are really math heavy, no group work but quite a few DB posts. A lot of really tedious bookwork video and question sort of bookwork. I had the option to take his micro class and definitely it was a no.
So much homework, but he's a great professor. The online part of economics he assigns is so helpful and really helps summarize main ideas. Smith is very funny and very wise, and knows how to make econ a little easier. If you want to get above a C, you really need to work for it though, not an easy class.
He does assign a lot of homework, but the homework is generally easy and just involves some degree of memorization for the tests (tests are on Lockdown browser and the questions are all from the homework). Group project is annoying to deal with but easy enough, and the class is worth it for the credit but I wouldn't take Smith again.
Group project was interesting, not difficult which some students thought it was. The key to getting a good grade in this class is to finish all the homework (Learnsmart), and study a decent amount for the tests. If you do these its not a hard class to pass. In my opinion professor Smith is a good teacher, he uses relatable concepts!
Prof. Smith is a very smart and nice teacher. He knows what he's talking about and tries to put it in simplest form for students to understand. He sometimes goes off on random stories but it kills time in class so thats a plus. Lots of homework if you take his online hybrid. The subject is easy, just do the homework and read the chapters.
okay I don't know who this man is because I took an online class and I'm sure that he's an alright dude, but the class online is so hard just don't take it. Just save yourself the pain and just go to the class because taking economics online was the biggest mistake I ever made. his tests are nothing like the homework idk why he's doing this to me.
Took micro online. Lots of EC, drops lowest test score which is great. Tough grader for discussion questions. Easy class but tests are kinda tough, they arent super similar to the homework (but we can use textbook on tests!). Did the minimum amount of work and got a high grade so I say take it for sure.
I'm an overachiever and hard-worker w/ a 3.7 gpa, but Prof. Smith is ridiculous with H/W, Quizzes every weekend, chapter H/W every Wednesday. Take his online course, you'll learn more, in class he's as interesting as a box of stale cereal. Go to tutoring every week. EXAMS ARE HEAVILY MATH BASED. Textbook is a must, take a different ECO Prof. TBH
Professor Smith is a sweety. If you truly want to succeed in his class, sit in front, take good notes, study the material, and show up prepared and ready to discuss the concepts you've learned the night before. The homework and quizzes can be tedious at times, but its nothing that cannot be done in about an hour per class.
Hes alright. Honestly the lessons have almost nothing to do w/ the homework & quizzes so prepare to use google a lot. I took this class on campus & he has as much enthusiasm as flour. Im now taking it online & i cant even teach myself because once again his lessons have nothing to do with the homework! Hes nice Id just rather another professor
He is a really good teacher! He really helps you out if you need it. ASK HIM FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT!! He will help you!! If you have any issues he will help! Do not be afraid to talk to him, he teaches well
pretty boring teacher but sure knows what he is talking about. All hw is on learnsmart as well as his tests
Took him in 2019, he's nice and put's in the work. You just need to read before coming in. There will also be 5 tests (Lowest not counting) and a project which involves your career. A few tips for his class: Read before (again), Print his Study Guide (Lots of the questions are on the test themselves.) and participate and know your group.
It felt like it was a lot of homework. His tests were pretty straight forward and you got to use the book. There was only one project that was pretty easy and no final. Warren seems pretty strict and hard but hes really not that bad and will help if you need. Lectures were long and boring but also very insightful. I liked the class, learned a lot.
I took this Prof (online) and he is honestly amazing. If you actually want to learn the material, this is the perfect class. He gives in-depth recorded lectures that help a lot bc he's very clear and concise when he explains. If you are a business major, take him!! He teaches the material. Tbh I think he's the best Econ prof at pbsc
I took Professor Smith virtually and I think it was the best decision ever. Although it was a lot of material to gather, he made it easy to keep up and his lectures go in depth. Kind man, really cares about the success of his students. Do the homework and you'll pass no problem.
Class was easy as long as you do the home work, learnsmart and discussions you will pass. Professor also has a career paper that seems hard but is really easy all you have to do is research your future career. Also, all the tests come with a study guide answers can be found from your homework and learnsmart. Tests will be directed from study guide!
Okay if you are good on your own and keep track of assignments. No clear grading criteria.
Easy as long as you keep track of your assignments. Every week contains a Smartbook (completion) assignment and a Connect homework assignment. The tests are based on these assignments, and there are also some optional practice and study guide assignments. He drops your lowest grade in every assignment category, so you can miss some without penalty.
Genuinely wish I chose a different professor. If you have any questions about assignments, half the time he will just say look in the syllabus and the answer to your question is there (its not). None of the textbook has anything to do with what is on the test. All tests were on lockdown browser. Genuinely nothing made sense in this class.
