Boring. Assigns a lot of work for a GE class. Treats you like a kid with his mandatory attendance sheet. Stay away!
Amazing teacher, he has a really unique teaching style that people should really try. Anyone can get a good grade if they put in some actual effort. Take his classes, it's really worth it.
The class itself isn't super easy. He gives sort of lengthy readings every class for hw, but still enough time to read them. All classes consist of him lecturing, and then getting in partners to discuss the readings. Once you get used to it, it becomes easier. I myself don't like history but thanks to Wood, enjoyed it and his way of teaching.
Very good professor. Does assign lengthy readings but overall does very good job. History is naturally boring but it's not like he makes you go to sleep. Good attitude in general. Don't miss his readings or online grading because that will affect your grade.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is arrogant and such a jerk to the students. The assignments don't make you learn anything. Take any other history teacher over this guy.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! He is the worst professor I have ever had. He assigns extremely long reading assignments for every class. He is a huge jerk and treats everyone like children with a sign in sheet. DO NOT take his class!
I can see how some might find Mr. Wood a little cranky however I will say that if you read the materials, participate in class and make an honest effort you will do well. The format of his history class is a bit different, read the syllabus first to see if it will work for you. Mr. Wood knows history, don't miss a good opportunity to learn.
EMAIL HIM! He will help you! He is amazing! As long as the class behaves, it will be fun. He has a great sense of humor. His readings are difficult, but if you annotate the articlespeeches, ask questions in class, and EMAIL HIM, you will pass the class. He does assign a paper. Final: two essays in class. Never skip his class or leave early! EMAIL!
History is so not my thing but, he has honestly made history interesting for me. I have loved this class!! Work hard and don't mess around and he will reward you with good grades. Also, GO TO CLASS. if you miss class more than 3 times he will fail you. But, the class is so fun, you wont want to miss it.
U.S History was supposed to be easy, but he makes it a bit hard. The class was divided into 2 groups, our assignment was to do our separate readings and then find an opposite group's member and teach it to them, and if anyone didn't turn in a partner evaluation, the partner gets a 0; 1 final exam and 2 papers, no other exams, lectures on PowerPoint
Dr. Wood is a passionate teacher who really believes this GE class is important. If you think that attending class and doing the assigned work should be optional, you might think him being strict about those things would make him a jerk. I thought he was interesting and funny and I enjoyed the class
There is no textbook but there is online readings that are very long. The class is split in two groups and you teach each other. The final has a section that is based on what your classmates were suppose to teach you. There are two essays and he only tells you a couple of days ahead. He is also a tough grader.
As a professor he was very interested in the subject but was ridiculously rude and harsh to students. He was not kind or friendly and calls people out during class a lot. He is a very hard grader on all papers but does offer 5 points of extra credit if you see a tutor. Would absolutely not take him for any other course again.
I am a 4th year and this is by the far the worst professor I have had at Cal Poly. He likes history but is extremely rude towards his students. He does not like to offer help, and will make arrogant remarks when you do ask. He is not supportive at all and is more than willing to fail you if you make even the slightest mistake on an assignment.
I'm literally sitting in his class as I type this review. The material on his powerpoints are very different from what he is actually speaking, which might make it difficult to take notes, as you don't know whether to take note of what he is saying or whats on the powerpoint. The readings for homework have nothing to do with the material in class.
Belittles his students when he doesn't find there answer to be to his liking, makes you sign in as if you're a child, if you miss more than 2 class meetings without a valid reason (with proof), YOU WILL FAIL HIS CLASS, there are severe consequences for even the smallest mistakes on anything you turn in. DO NOT TAKE HIM! AVOID AT ALL COSTS, PLEASE!
If you are taking him for a GE, DON'T. This class was WAY too much work for a GE. Literally a 20 pg. document to read before every class with a completed study guide. Every week there is a 'small' assignment to do, but it is easy to forget and its terrible for your grade. There is also a final AND a final paper. JUST DON'T DO IT.
His E&Rs is literally all you do in the class and the grading system on it does not make sense at all. your grade on black board does not reflect you actual grade either i went from 86 on bb to 71 on bronocdirect. he can be very rude and mean and he does not give good feedback unless he likes you horrible teacher do not take him!!!!!!
3 Papers and 1 Final paper. 30 page readings before every single class. You have to teach your classmate this reading because it will be on their final and everything your partner teaches you is on your final. And a review every week Passionate teacher. Class designed to be A or F. Late work is a 0 no questions. AVOID HIST 370 CLASS
first of all, dont even think about it. like at all. one of the worst teachers at cal poly. miss 3 classes and youre dropped. never has anything nice to say. GET READY TO READ!!!!! homework every night. does this thing called learn & confirm which is just an excuse to not teach the lesson, you ready it on your own and teach a classmate. guys dont
Hes a little standoffish but as you get to know him, hes not as bad as youd think. There is reading before every class and theyre all online so you dont have to buy a textbook. He splits the course into 5 two-week sections with a paper due at the end of each section. There is no midterm and the final is based upon your partners reading
Don't.
Love his style, while there is a lot of reading, the lectures are engaging and he gets excited about the material. He is easy to talk to and enthusiastic about his work. He is very clear about what he expects of his students.
Avoid at all cost. Ridiculous amount of work to do for a GE class. Far too challenging as well. I AGAIN just avoid at all cost.
This professor does not teach. He divides the class in two and gives two separate articles for each group to read and then the group has to teach the other group what they read and then each student grades eachother based on how well you taught and he goes off that. To me, that is a terrible teaching ethic and should be changed immediately.
Very easy and simple class. There are a lot of readings!! Does a thing called collabortive learning were you get partners and teach each other what you read. Your partner will grade you based off how well you taught them. There are a lot of quizzes but they are all online and gives you two attempts for each quiz. Overall amazing class.
I took this class because there were no other options. It wasn't horrible but if you can avoid this class, than do so. You have 2 readings every week, the 1st half of class he lectures & the 2nd you partner up and teach your partner what you read & viceversa. The final is based on what you were taught, not what you read which sucks.
Pros: no book, Cons: lots of online reading This professor knows his stuff and will teach it to you. Only 3 papers to write. The colab learning was helpful to cement in what we learned. He's kinda tough but it's expected of a college class.
I honestly never did the readings, I highlighted enough important information. Hybrid class was cool, he is so serious about what really happened in the US. 3 papers, pretty easy and i hate papers. Final was easy.
He does not post the semester outline on the syllabus and just goes as he pleases. He is very demeaning and sends rude emails and calls out people in class leaving no room for your own privacy in your personal life. I respect my professors but when they do not reciprocate something needs to be said.
Dr. Wood seems to be a polarizing professor. I really like his teaching style and collaborative learning helps solidify what you learn as well as motivate you to do the reading. He can be condescending at times, but I think that's just his personality. I would recommend if you don't mind a challenge and working for your grade!!
It's true, Dr. Wood doesn't seem to have much respect for his students, but it's not that bad. He mostly is tough on people who're on their phones or don't do the readings. He's still very passionate about the subject and teaching, though. Just pay very good attention to the lectures and take good notes - everything that's tested on is in them.
If you miss more than five classes he flunks you. Try to miss as little as possible and remember to do the weekly quizzes and you'll be fine. There's two major essays and collaborative learning once a week. There's extra credit if you take your essay to the Writing Center and get a stamp. Overall an adequate professor
Dr. Wood definitely knows what he is talking about when it comes to history and covers the sociological factors that go into it, which I enjoyed. There is a lot of reading but typically only once a week and it's definitely manageable. He pushes you but makes the quizzes and papers pretty straightforward. His lectures are really interesting!
He has a clear plan of the semester and sticks to the syllabus. He lists all readings and projects. The reading can be heavy sometimes but manageable. He does a lot of working with partners in this class so try to get to know people right away to make it easier. He doesn't allow phones. The lectures are really good and interesting. Tests were easy
Hes alright. Lots of reading. Lectures are decent but boring at times. Final was a complete scam. All the answers that seemed correct were not. Some questions worded very poorly. Several papers, graded very easily. I got an A on all of them. Reading is annoying and he can come off as arrogant. If it wasnt for the final I would have gotten an A
Probably one of the most rude professors I have ever come across. He deducted 3% from our final grade for not doing ONE reading and then yelled at us like we were middle schoolers. He definitely takes this GE class way too seriously and is not willing to help you or be considerate at all. Don't take him unless you're willing to be looked down on.
Professor Wood is a very opinionated guy. If hes passionate about a subject, hell shower you with his passion. He can come off as a bit rude but if you dont talk in his class and participate when he asks for answers then youll do just fine. There are a lot of reading passages that you need to do in order to keep up in class.
This professor may come off as a bit rude, but its because hes passionate. You have to do the weekly readings or else he will not like it and you wont be able to do the weekly quiz. We have 3 essays due at the end of the semester. No book is needed. Show up and participate. He takes attendance by having you sign in. :)

One of the worst History professors at CPP. A true nightmare. He teaches History based on themes and not a chronological approach. This means he jumps from different time periods and it is very confusing. Very rude and should not be a professor. Someone get him out of here.
I for one regardless of the other ratings say that I think Wood is an amazing professor. I absolutely love the way he teaches and love that he doesn't give huge exams every few weeks (what we call midterms) and teaches you in a way that actually makes you learn and not just try to memorize for an exam and forget about afterwards. Highly recommend.
Class was enjoyable the lectures can be long and interesting with a dad joke added in between. Quizzes are allowed to be taken twice and are online. Lots of reading and is important to whatever his lectures are on. Overall a fun class can be a little scary, but cool
I did well, but he's pretty awful. He's extremely smug for being a GE teacher (he makes sure to call himself "doctor" whenever he gets the chance - mind you, his PhD is in history lol). We spent several weeks on his "Gender" unit but only 2 days on WWI and WWII combined. I got an "A" but learned nothing about U.S. history. Don't waste your time.
There is weekly reading and a pair and sharing technique he does. He is super sarcastic and hilarious which makes the lectures more entertaining. You should participate because he does write it down. He says that as long as you show up and do the work you should at least pass. He does teach in a thematically way, but I personally prefer it.
Basically, just show up and participate and get an A. A lot of people skip class and lose easy credit. His lectures are interesting, he knows what he's talking about. Some people don't like him because he can be sarcastic, just don't take it personally. If you do all the readings and show up, it's an easy A.
You should read many every week. We had a 3 Essay and Final. And We have to submit Evaluation Response every week. Professor gave us a study guide of final.
Miss 5 classes you fail the class. Lots of long readings, study guides, and group discussions. The quizzes on bb were personally hard and if you miss one you can not get those points back or redo them. 3 essays which he is lenient grader with. Can be rude with students and comes off like he's better than them. Made me feel dumb when I emailed him.
He doesnt care about you or your problems and is so rude to students. I would never recommend taking his class. Save yourself the misery. He cares more about his doctor title than making sure youre successful and being understanding that were adults and life happens
He knows what hes talking about when doing lectures, clear on what the assignments and hw are. Pretty simple readings about every week or two. Collaborative learning which is pretty simple too, just elaborate to the other student what you learned. Hes pretty chill, but strict, just attend, pay attention, do the homework and you'll be fine.
Do not take his class online!! He is self entitled & thinks his class is more important than any other. He requires your camera to be on to count you for attendance and prohibits zoom backgrounds. He teaches by concept instead of in chronological order which makes things impossible to keep track of and understand. Pretentious.
Never again. Hardest grader I have ever had. Never gotten full points on anything like discussion points and study guide. He is also passive aggressive to students and thinks his class is the most important when it is only a GE. Im sure there are better History teachers than him so save yourself this misery.
Wood is not a good professor. He rambles on, tends to forget his train of thought, and is pretty hard as a prof. The material itself is just history, nothing unfamiliar to students. The class comes with A LOT of work and effort that is not worth it if there's a better option to choose. However, still doable and passable if you are willing to work.
The workload for this class is insane. Prepare to read a lot.
Took Professor Wood for the history of California 3370. I learned more about California than I honestly expected I would. If you show up, do the work, and take notes you'll be fine. If you're looking for an easy grade this is not the professor to take. If you want to learn history you've got a solid choice.
Out of all my years of attending school, I have never meet a professor like Wood. This Professor made me want to rethink if college is the right choice for me. He grades heavy and gives out crazy amounts of work.
Tends to ramble on, brings a lot of modern-day politics into his lectures, sometimes it's related, most times it's not. He's very smug, and it's a little upsetting at times when you need a straight answer, but having 'thick skin' will help a lot. His class isn't super difficult, but I wouldn't take it again due to his lack of unbias when teaching.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, I TOOK IT WITH MY FRIEND AND WE SPLIT THE WORK, WE BARELY SURVIVED. UNLESS YOU ARE A HST MAJOR, YOU DO NOT NEED SUCH AN IN-DEPTH HISTORY CLASS IN YOUR LIFE
He gives a lot of homework, usually involving reading articles, answering questions about them, and writing discussion board posts. It takes me about 1-2 hours to finish his "article + questions" assignments. I feel like I actually understand history more, now; he makes the concepts "real" -- not just bland words from a textbook.
Overall was a mediocre professor that seems to expect too much from a GE class. He is a tough grader and assigns pages upon pages of reading for study guides. He can also be pretty rude to students, but if you really are interested in learning about history, Warren seems to be a good choice as he goes very in-depth in his topics.
I took it for GE but don't do it like just don't do it, do be me. Too much reading, basically 12 pages article per week and a worksheet with it. There are 4 essays in total but they are easy just make sure you answer the prompt. But don't take his class if you want an easy class. However, I learned a lot in this class. Not hard just too much works
Professor Wood is a tough teacher, but honestly that's what I enjoyed in his class. Yes, we are in the middle of the pandemic, but that's not an excuse to slack off just because you're in your pajamas at home. He wants you to think and sometimes he will come off sarcastic, but if you have a soft skin, I wouldn't recommend him for you.
This professor is horrible, He assigns work like a high school teacher having us do pages of work to do every week and scores his essays that he grades unfairly higher than his exams. Then he surprises everyone at the end saying that the blackboard grade isnt accurate so if you would have to find out your real grade last day of school. I had an A.
If I can give a 0 for my rating I would! I did all my work and got scores over 85% on most of them. blackboard said that I had a B but on the last week of school he sent an email saying BD grade wasn't accurate ended up with a c- which does not make sense at all I wouldn't take this class even if the school paid me to Worst experience at cpp
Dr. Warren Wood is passionate about what he teaches so, the lectures are intuitive. The discussions are in a group setting. There is a lot of homework but, it is all to help with examples and topics in a total of 4 essays throughout the semester. There is only a final, no other exams. I would recommend this professor for the lectures.
FDB FDB FDB FDB
For a class that involves watching Hollywood feature films with historical contexts within them, you'd think that this class would be so fun. Sadly, that can't be said with Professor (oops, sorry, I meant Doctor) Wood. He truly grades so harshly and the work is immeasurable. If you want to get on his good side, tell him Woodrow Wilson is overrated.
Hes a really tough grader and expects you to read 25 pages per week. Attendance and participation points count HEAVY towards your grade It was labeled as an "in-person" class but expects you to watch his lecture videos as an attendance point. this is NOT an easy A class, do not take if you are expecting it to be an easier upper division course!!!!
Took this class thinking it would be an interesting GE, WRONG. Prof. Wood assigns an insane amount of reading and work each week that we present in a group setting. He is also a very tough grader (even grades attendance)that only gives feedback if you ask for it. His dry humor makes this class funny, but I would try to avoid taking this professor.
This class was very heavy with reading material. We read around 30 pages per week. He has a "learn and confirm" teaching method that makes you have to read it. The professor is pretty funny and understanding but definitely pays attention to participation and if you did your work (I went from an 89% to 85% because I didn't participate in class)
I enjoyed his lectures. He is NOT a tough grader, very generous. Same 3 assignments every week: survey about your reading partners, small quiz, discussion (all 3 are easy). Yes he assigns a lot of readings but you can get away with skimming or not reading because he explains them in class. Exams not that difficult. Short essays. You will pass.
I can't imagine taking this class online, but it's a pretty doable in-person GE class. Do the reading and listen to his lectures all the weekly, quizzes, canvas discussions and pear learning, will be easy. He is also not a tough grader just as long as you answer whatever prompt.
He has 4 essays based on each unit and weekly assignment based on readings, discussion boards and quizzes. (quizzes are lecture based so PAY ATTENTION) He's a great professor & if you're majoring in history then take his class but NOT if you want an easy A ge class. Overall enjoyed the class, some lectures are dull.
If you are looking for an easy class, here you have it. All assignments and tests were online, so weekly quizes are ez A's. 4 papers and a final- wasnt too bad, but this guy just used class as a way to push his own political agenda. made my blood boil. Made everyone call him Dr. Wood, corrected people who said prof. super annoying.
Pretty reasonable teacher. Lectures interesting, same 3 pieces of work every week, the reading is usually pretty long but if you read it in parts, it's manageable. Only complaint is that he assigns essays as soon as we learn a new subject, and when we finish that section the essay is due in a week.
An easy class with few assignments. Makes history very engaging but it does get boring at times. Can put in little effort and get a B but you really have to work for an A. Never gave 100% on any writing assignment and didn't communicate how to get consistent A's on papers for awhile. Would recommend but must be good writer/participate.
Do not take this course if you're looking for an easy grade or a relaxed instructor. Having said that, Dr Wood is passionate, informative, and very dedicated to his craft. He assigns a lot of reading, and 4 papers, but if you pay some modicum of attention in class the papers aren't hard to write. Attendance and participation very important.
Tough on grading, but there is clarity on where he takes points from for most important assignments. An inability to keep up with and grasp the lectures and weekly readings will set you back, especially when it comes to the essays that make up a large chunk of your grade. Difficult class, but passionate and engaging.
Not the nicest person to some, good storyteller, but first impressions matter.
The professor is horrible. The quizzes, discussion and collaborative learning are weekly assignments. Collaborative learning was probably the worst part of his class. He has a bad attitude. 4 papers and a final. He is very specific on how to do his assignments. It's not worth all the work and annoyance. Save yourslef and skip out on this class.
There are weekly readings, collaborations, canvas discussions, quizes and multiple essays. All of this requires a good amount of time even for a GE, but mostly easy assignments. If you already know you dont like doing a lot of work or writing essays then take someone else. As long you can keep up on the assignments, then the class is an easy pass.
Pay attention in lectures bc the discussions and quizzes as well as essays are all based on his PowerPoints. Essays need to be in a certain format, he is strict. He splits you into groups and you have to read an article and discuss it w at least two people. As long as you have a friend or 2 then you should be ok with that. Does take attendance.
pls do not take this professor! you are going to be suffering, he is not respectful and the stuff he teaches is boring, he is not a caring professor in general. the way he runs his class is just one of the worst classes I have ever taken here on campus
I would not recommend this professor, please do me a favor and take somebody else for a History course, otherwise you are wasting your time. Does not consider students from a respected point of view on being so, whereas talking after class is not ideal because he does not consider, overall- I would not recommend this professor. A horrible grader!
It was not fun to have him during my first year at CPP. He's not too strict with grading but has his policies on the essays. For example, if we were to miss one thing on the rubric for our essay, it could easily lead to a huge portion of our grade being deducted just from that. I would not recommend him. Don't be like me and suffer in his class.
Overall he's an okay guy, very in-person orientated, be ready to talk a lot in class, + a lot of reading assignments. Not very sympathetic, lost 10% of my grade because missed class. Counted as absent if you're 15+ minutes late to class, no matter what.
I had him previously for US History during the pandemic, he is significantly harder in-person. There is a lof reading, discussion boards and four papers throughout the semester. The attendance is counted toward your grade. He is an animated lectuerer and make sure to participate. He is understanding and availabled during in-person office hours.
Professor Wood is a good professor overall, but his class requires a lot of reading(15-30 pages weekly) Also peer reviews with a partner about the reading and discussion boards every week. He is very understanding. You should be able to pass as long as you're on his good side, go to lectures, do homework, take notes, and participate.
Professor Warren Wood was a great teacher in my opinion. Every class usually has a lecture, some participation is needed, a lot may give extra credit. I didn't put much effort but if I put some it's very likely I would have gotten an A. He is fair with his grading and requirements are clearly, stated. Adequate time is usually given for assignments.
Professor Wood is a perfectly fine historian, but there's a reason he's just a lecturer at his age. That is what complaints will do to somebody I guess. Attendance matters and it will affect your grade. Lots of reading which is expected in a history class, and make sure to take RIGOROUS notes if you want to pass the final.
Grumpy but not heartless professor
he is a good professor in some aspects but he's very tough on grading and gives us weekly readings that vary from about 10-30 pages of reading a week.
Good professor but he is very particular. His grading does not always match rubric.
I took this course as a G.E. but considering it is an upper division course- the workload (weekly readings/ 3 essays/midterm/final w study guide provided) made sense. You have to do the work to pass but communicate and you'll be fine! You can tell he knows and loves what he's talking about. Would take this professor again.
You will have weekly readings and discussions, so make sure you spend time getting those done. I think he is funny. He is a tough grader, but if you stay consistent you will for sure pass this class.
Weekly discussion post worth 100 points, 2 exams one at the start and a Final, 4 essays where you critique generated ChatGPT essays and provide evidence with his lectures, Attendance is worth a lot, weekly readings where you will teach a peer your reading and then they grade you, if you miss 4 or more classes he will dock 10 points off final grade
He grades in a very punishing way and takes you down a letter grade if you miss a certain number of classes. Also never responded to some of my emails. The final is based on a lot of very specific material from lectures. A lot of reading, and in class discussions with partners, and I liked this format. But he does not respect his students.
Overall, the professor is great. Expect to do a lot of reading; he can come off as intimidating, but he isn't. I would recommend taking this class. Participating and attending is mandatory but can heavily affect your final grade. I advise you always to follow the prompts for the essays.
Participation really matters in this class, you will get your grade docked if you do not participate at all. He can be really chill and has a bit of a sense of humor. Although his tone and attitude can switch up like nothing if you do not understand him the the first time. Other than that there is many readings. I can say he takes things not light.
I personally wouldn't take him again just because I've seen how rude he is to students, he gave me a hard time about excusing my absence when I was literally at urgent care hooked onto an IV, and overall just an intimidating professor to approach. For a class that was not for my major; it was more stressful.
Would not take this professor again he calls out sick and expects us to do online assignment but if we are sick and call out more than 5 times he takes away -10 points on canvas and 10% of total grade at the end of the course.
Professor Wood is particular but fair. The workload is heavy, with weekly readings, assignments, and essays. However, the class is manageable if you stay on top of it. unstuck ai proved helpful for preparing for quizzes and exams.
This class is easy if you follow instructions. There are 3 essays, weekly readings, quizzes, and discussions. Attendance is strict—missing 5+ classes drops your grade 10%. 10+ = F. The professor was rude and unfair at times, even accusing me wrongly. The class is fine, but the teaching style was frustrating. Take his class if it is the last option.
Dr. Wood's class is not easy, but he clearly communicates his expectations, including mandatory attendance and participation. Each week features multiple-choice quizzes and class discussions, along with four essays throughout the semester and a final exam. On the other hand, he's an excellent lecturer who is genuinely passionate about the subject.
As the other reviews say he's particular. I didn't think the class was too hard, just keep up on your weekly homework (reading, quiz, discussion post) and go to class. There's 4 essays that are not too bad. If you're gonna be absence a lot then don't take his class (5 absences and he gives you an F) but otherwise he's a pretty chill professor.
Bro crashes out every lecture
If u can, avoid him, he is so rude to his students and never realizes it. He is passionate about this class but he takes it too far as if we are all history majors. He may say hes not a strict grader, DONT believe him. The people I knew in this class had the same issues with him grading wise. Save your GPA and take someone else or at another time
Very intimidating professor he is serious and gets mad easily, attendance is mandatory and lectures feel pointless, he just reads off the slides. He gives a decent amount of homework for a GE course, a reading, online quiz, and discussion post every week, but the class is pretty easy just extremely boring. Easy A if u put in atleast a little effort
I highly recommend this professor. He is knowledgeable, explains the material clearly, and is very approachable. Although there was a lot of reading, the course was manageable and overall fairly easy. His exams and assignments were straightforward and reflected the material well. He created a positive and supportive learning environment.
4 papers, weekly discussion forums. essay prompts are VERY particular and hard to understand but I ended up getting the hang. participation matters. LOTS of reading, lecture heavy. Lectures can drag on for awhile. Very knowledgeable, but has particular ways he wants you to do things.
he is a good professor, but he's kind of mean. He doesn't care about personal situations, and will actually make you feel bad if anything comes up where you can't attend the class. He's very knowledgeable, but he's just kind of mean.
readings every week that are 10-25 pages. there's 4 essays and an exam. if you miss 5 classes, he deducts 10 points from the 100 point exam. it's easy, but he's definitely picky with grading.
He will accuse you of things you might not be doing. Pick up your phone in class? You get yelled at. Not taking notes? Points are docked. He'd give everyone 80% on discussion posts, and all he'd say was to add more detail, but no amount of detail was ever enough for him. He's very passionate about what he teaches and the lectures, so there's that.
Avoid this professor at all costs for your own sanity and GPA. He gets mad easily, extremely picky grader, and 10 plus page readings. I would say 75% of the class is him lecturing and the other 25% is long readings where you have to teach a classmate and rate them on how they teach. Very annoying class to take. Enthusiastic about his lectures tho.
There was 4 essays, and one was the final. His format for the essays was difficult to understand at first, but you get the hang of it after each one. His lectures were definitely long, but I enjoyed the times when we had to discuss topics with others in the class, as it made it easy to connect with them.
Don't do it, pick a different professor. I wanted to like this class but this professor is a hard grader although he claims to be an easy grader..He is very specific with his grading & I found it inconsistent. There are 4 essays 600+ words each and 1 accumulative final & A LOT OF READING. Attendance is mandatory.
Yes you'll have to read in this class but honestly the amount of good information you gain from the course is astounding. Inspirational professor highly recommend if you love this kinda stuff
