Dr Yeakel is very, very knowledgeable and the only reason why he can't keep control of the class is because a lot of jokers who think they know everything try to take his class. I didn't even buy the book, just went by his lectures and got an A. Study!!

Very knowledgable, smart, and organized pereson. You have to work hard on this class to get an A. Make sure you review old exams ;).

Good teacher if you can hear him...if the class isn't too disruptive. His worksheets and classroom calcs are most helpful..just like the exams. Dry sense of humor which is good if you get it! Most of his humor goes over everyone's head...which is even more funny! Good Guy!

Dr. Yeakel is very helpful if you have any questions in class & out. He tends to sound like he's talking to himself a bit but if you copy all the notes and read the chapter before class you'll do fine. His 20 bonus points on the test are veery helpful and the experiments aren't too hard. I would definetly recomend him. I plan on taking him for 142.

Best chem instructor ever! Cares about his students. He's always available for help. Will provide tutoring if in need. He loves his job and it shows. I would definately recommend him. P.S. his wife is psycho . . . . poor man.

Very easy class, he gives you 20 extra points on tests and also gives you past exams. He cannot control the class at all, he will continue teaching when everyone in the class is talking. DO NOT buy the textbook for this class, I opened the textbook a total of two times, huge waste of money.

Dr. Yeakel is one of the smartest teachers I have ever come across, and one of the nicest. I'm not in his class anymore, and he still helps me out in Chemistry! What can I say, he ROCKS.

Best Chem Teacher lectures are not very clear but he will help you in any way he can. make up tests and labs available and drops one test grade. I got over 100 on all the tests Take him his tests are not easy i studied veeeeeeeeeery hard to get that grade but if u study you will get an A I recomend takin him

this guy was freakin awsome!!!!!!!!! yea of course you need to study 247 its a chemistry classs noone said itw as going to be easy. i had this class alone with a bio 150 and still managed an a in this class and my concern was this class. he is very helpful lets you take re takes on everything. very helpful and wants students to succe.

this guys a trip had him for lecture spring semester and he goes through everything so fast i failed all his tests but u get to make one up. his wife is so much better she explains everything in detail. We used to laugh so hard in his lectures he burned his finger at least 2 times. haram hes a cute guy.

This guy is made to teach chemistry, It's his god given talent. No one can teach it better than this guy. Show up for lectures, pay attention, do the handouts and practice exams,and thats it,the grades take care of themselves. Very str8 frwrd. I love this guy's class, and I lookd forward to attending evryday even tho i used to hate chm.A+++ teacher

Awesome professor very good at explaining everything and always willing to help you and work with you on difficult subjects. I would tell anyone who wants to take this class to definitly take him for it. His tests are challenging but if you go to class and practice the problems he gives you will do fine :)

Don't buy the book. I nevr even opened it. Allz u gotta do is pay attention in lecture, do the handouts and labs, and do the practice tests like 5 times before the test. make sure u keep up with the handouts he gives. he's always in his office if u need help with anything

the 2 ratings below me were left by some idiot. the teacher lets everyone retake 2 tests, and on top of that drops the lowest test score. talk about opportunity. you can easily get a B in this class. and he never side-talks, he's the most professional teacher i've seen. he is the best, and he will prepare you for challenges that lie ahead

he is THE MAN. ya u need to study all the time its chemistry, but if you TRY, there is no way that you will get a low grade in his class. u don't even need the book. i nevr opened the book, and got an A

Best chemistry professor, hands down.. I took him for chem141, and rite now im taking chem142 at a university and I can't thank this guy enough for actually teaching me. I am ahead of the whole class thanks to him. he is not interested in loads of counterproductive work, but the key to getting a good grade is to grasp the concepts.

Dr. Yeakel is tough, no doubt. You do need to study ALOT for an A in his class. But he is THE BEST when it comes to helpfulness and explaining stuff. He is also the nicest professor everr. If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. He WILL prepare you for MCAT/PCAT/DAT guaranteed. He is always in his office, and always helps.

he is tha man. i took him for chem141 and 142. i can say that he's definitely the best chemistry teacher at hfcc. he is very hard, but he is a good teacher. you will know your stuff inside and out if you put forth the effort to get an A in his class. probably the best professor ive had in college

this was a very difficult class. i took him 2 years ago. it was a good indicator of how you will perform on the mcat or pcat. he is good prof. because this class teaches you how to study properly. he is not very hard for chem141, but 142 is very very hard. only a couple people got A in this class but that can be u. you will need to study every day.

Nicest teacher ever.. Chem 142 is nuthing like 142.. CHEM 142 is 100 times harder but not impossible, our class was very competitive and i think 6 people got A's.. if u want a challenge take this class

He is the greatest teacher in the history of teaching.Chemistry is a hard subj, n he simplifies things so that any1 can understand them. U need to remain focused in order to get a good grade. Study 2 hours evryday. Dnt need book.Make sure you do the handouts the day u get them, he goes over next day.

Way better then his wife. Very helpful. His tests are shorter than his wife's but still difficult. Altogether. Not a hard class just gotta work hard. One thing tho, try to take lab and lecture with the same teacher otherwise you might get very confused Nd fall behind.

OK PEOPLE. LISTEN CLOSELY. W. YEAKEL IS THE BEST TEACHER TO TAKE FOR CHEM141. HIS TEACHING SKILLS NEED WORK BUT HE IS LAID BACK AND ALLOWS YOU TO POSTPONE AND RETAKE EXAMS WHEN EVER YOU WANT. GIVES YOU HANDOUTS ALL THE TIME AND PRACTICE EXAMS SO YOU DONT NEED THE BOOK AT ALL. HE ALSO GIVES 3 PRACTICE EXAMS FOR EACH EXAM WHICH IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!

first off, he is the ONLY good teacher for gen chem. compared to all other professors even at university. he talks fast, because he wants you to pay attention. he would rather say it fast 5 times than 1 time slow. i remember always laughing in the lecture with all the fun and cool experiments he did.

BEST TEACHER EVER! It's a challenging subject but he will answer your questions and give you handouts and practice exams. DONT TAKE WITH ANYONE ELSE!!

dr. yeakel is one of the BEST professors in the WORLD there is a reason why he has been teaching chemistry since ancient times, that is because he is good at it. a lot of jokers fail out of 141. believe me, most chemistry professors suck, but he is good at teaching the material..hard but good.if ur from wsu or umd looking for easy A, keep looking.

Dr. Yeakel is a great professor. The class itself demands a little bit of work, other than that its easy. I'm an average student and all I did was study his practice exams and I averaged an A for all of them. The final is cumulative so make sure you understand all of the material from previous exams. Finish labs the day of and you will get an A+.

I took him for the lab in Chem 141. He is very helpfull give you extra time on H.W if you are working hard. And let you retake the wet tests.

he is the best teacher in the world. when i took my mcat, the first page was on an experiment identical to the second wet test in 141. he covers everything needed to know on the mcat genchem sec. in 141, and take his wife for 142, same. they are the best teachers in the world. make sure u take him for 141 and dr. whitaker for 241

lets get one thing straight. the class is not easy. 141 is hard, and 142 is hardcore. you can pass if you pay attention to what he says. don't copy down everything he writes, but pay attention, then do his handouts. but i will admit that he is best chemistry professor alive. you actually walk out of class LEARNING the material.

i took him for gen chem 1 and 2. he is definitely one of the best professors for general chemistry. he spends time in class making sure you understand the concepts, NOT by reading off a powerpoint. his tests are tough, but he is an excellent professor, who still teaches the good old fashioned way. you will love him from the first day

all the bad ratings are left by jokers who got weeded out over the years. yes, you need to work to get an A or B. I worked hard, and ended up with a B because i didnt have any chem in my background. dr yeakel is extremely dedicated to teaching chemistry, but if someone is not dedicated to learning that's the persons fault for getting a bad grade.

Very professional, will go to china and back for you as long as you understand. Read the book because sometimes hes not clear but take him if u wanna do well, and make sure u study

142 is not as hard as people say it is..that is IF you read the book. He makes it like that on purpose though. Instead of listening to the 2 people who got an A without reading the book, why don't people just read the book to get a better understanding of the concepts? Makes me wonder. I got a C+ in 141 and an A- in 142. It does happen people.

he is really smart and knowledgeable professor. class is beyond a community college level. i took him for 141 and 142. 141 is all based on math and memorization. 142 is all based on concepts and busywork labs. if you don't get atleast a B- in his class, change your field, because i honestly thought it was really easy to get a B in it.

he is not clear enough and you basically have to teach yourself and read the book.

This class will be the first stepping stone to a pre-health career. If you can't pass this with a B, please change your major. He is very clear in lecture, and the handouts make things even more clear. If you put in the time to this class, you will do good. If you don't do so good, then change your major because things will get way harder.

this is a class u hav to put a little effort to get a decent grade. dont have to be smart. this means you have to read the book beforehand, you have to go to class and take notes, and you have to do the homework handouts. if you can do that, you're set for an A in his class. not hard, but at the same time, not easy.

very easy teacher. you need to pay attention in class and take good notes and do the homework in book and handouts. use book for reference. thats enough to get an A or a B in lecture. for lab, read the packets and make a flow chart before going in. preparation is key to this class.

He's very lenient with grading and all his tests are out of 120 so you get 20 extra points! not only that, but he lets you retake one test and also drop the lowest one.. Simply the best! I love you Yeakel! I wish I could take him for 142, but I'm transferring :(

Chem 141 is a tough subject requires alot of sitting down and learning the material. He provides you with everything necessary to get an A in the class. Dont miss Lecture and Pay attention. 1 drop 1 retake 5 tests total.

take this class with him. you will learn, he is very helpful. four exams, one can be retaken and one can be replaced with a higher score on the final.

Lectures and books are worthless. Just make sure u understand the lab and practice old semesters exams not the samples that he gives. His tests are hard but he is veeeery flexible, u can miss exam and retake it with a different version. You can make up labs and lab exams every friday. He is not easy so be ready study and practice alot on your own

I love Dr. Yeakel. But, do not take him for chem142 unless you want to teach yourself everything. He goes through material very quickly and expects you to understand it all.

Toughest class I took so far. Currently studying for his final and I can't wait to finish. Don't let the "drop 1 test" fool you though, it will only happen if your final was higher than your average. All in all. he's a good teacher and loves to help, but the way he explains things make this class see harder than it is.

17 and i took this course. lectures are heavy but hes a good professor. Sit in the front and pay attention to every detail. Go to every lab/lecture and do the worksheets he gives you immediately. Very easy to fall behind but he's a very good teacher. Offers extra credit on tests, drops lowest grade and lets u retake one exam.

Great Prof! Tough exams have to study a week ahead or more Goes too fast in lecture but Go to his office hours super nice explains better when it's a 1 on 1. Study all worksheets he gives, print ones on moodlerooms do them ASK every little Question u have Don't wait til u see ur grade for exam1 ppl who say worked hard & failed don't give much time!

This class was hard. However, an A is not impossible if you work for it. He goes super fast in lectures. Go to his office hours he explains better. Do all the handouts and sample exams. I recommend taking a chem. class before taking this class. It would be helpful. He is also the best in lab. Overall, he is such a nice professor.

Dr Yeakel is an amazing person to know. However, I don't understand anything he teaches. Currently taking the class and have a B. Don't come to lecture and study all of the practice exams and you'll do fine. The exams are very similar to the practice exams, and he gives a lot of partial credit. Be ready to work for your grade!

Professor Yeakel is extremely knowledgeable about the subject material he teaches and one of the most informed professors I have ever met. In order to completely understand his lecture or alleviate any confusion in his class, I highly recommend doing the optional practice sheets he hands out and reading the additional instruction he posts online.

Chem is a tough subject in general. Not the best teaching style, but its doable. If you aim high, work hard, then you'll do very well.

Dr. Yeakel made this class a lot easier than its supposed to be by giving students many chances on the exams with extra credit, drops, retakes, etc. This was my second time taking him and it was a good decision. However, dont expect to pass by not working on the material in the Class!!

I took an entire year of chem with him. His class is the hardest thing Ive ever done. between lab and lecture, sometimes it felt impossible. You really need to put your entire being into this class. All students who came to lecture, office hrs, got decent grades. I was at his office all the time, sometimes 3-5 times a day, but hes so nice.

Tough class, but he gives you a lot of chances. All exams have 20 pt curve, so if you study hard and do exams he passes out from previous years youll get a 100. 1 retake, 1 drop. All ppl who asked questions and went to his office hrs got rly good grades. Put time and effort and practice and youll do well.

Good amt of work, but he gives a ton of opportunities. 5 exams, and he drops the lowest score. Then from your 4 highest scores, he lets you retake your lowest exam score. On each exam, 120 points possible, but he grades out of 100. University courses are MUCH harder. If you can't hack his class, look into a non-science related career.

he is very good actually.. idk why lots of students hated him lol, but i didnt.. he gives 20 extra points on every test and even on final exam! which is a very good thing that got me a 100% on almost all of my exams!! his lectures are clear (sometimes off point tbh) but he explains well JUST ASK HIM first. Dr. Yeakel has changed my life through his powerful lectures, and his pure motivation to teach. I switched my major to chemistry because of his passion and amazing lectures. I now study chemistry at NMU because of the amount of time he spent helping me understand the subject. I passed his class with a C, it was extremely difficult but worth it!

Everybody better stop whining. This is a college class and it might be the first one most freshmans are taking. Even though it a college class it pretty easy, I would say a month for this class is enough to complete all the content for this class. Also what teacher is so lenient on grading and gives you 20 extra credits to make up on each exam?��

I don't usually rate professors but I noticed all these students who want their "A+" handed to them, rate Yeakel & insult his teaching. First, he holds a weekly zoom, he gives old exams as practice & gives 20 ec on each exam, VERY lenient on labs which help. I'm very grateful for how he is handling class during this pandemic.

You can see he genuinely is trying his best to teach during this rough time, I promise you that all these students who are writing negative ratings didn't even open one pdf that he put on moodle. Shocking to see that they will get anywhere if they DONT TRY TO EVEN LEARN. Check his moodle and study, you will do good.

Amazing Professor. I took him for CHM 142 and it was definitely not an easy course. He structures the exams in a way where you need to know the material to be able to apply it. Very understanding professor, that allows you to take exams on a different day if you weren't ready to take the exam. Kind man, teaches well. Class was mainly based off exam
