Would 100%. Very disorganized and speaks in an accent that is extremely difficult to comprehend. Live lectures are almost pointless since he skips a lot of chapters without notice. Promised that his course is online but forces in person evaluations.
Disrespectful. Attempted to schedule deliverables outside his assigned schedule, gave little notice for changed due dates, expected students to be available to accommodate his mistakes 24/7, gaslit you if you told him he made a mistake, and didn't release anything on time. His slides were clear, but he was beyond disorganized. Do not take him.
Wasiu's notes are clear but that's all there is. He expects students to attend the synchronous lecture dates that are marked in the course outline calendar, but his delivery is often very hard to understand. A lot of people have gotten used to just looking at lecture notes and textbooks instead. He's also hardly organized.
Avoid if you can. Very disorganized and confusing lectures. Midterms and exams are in person on your own laptop! Also somehow in 4-5 live lectures everyone must participate to get 5%
He had a rule of 4 mandatory lectures in the term but it's almost a complete waste of time. Most of the time, all he does is read off the slides, which hardly gives students an opportunity to even participate and engage in the class. No wonder he's so difficult to understand and approach.
Reads off slides
Terrible professor. Lectures just consist of him reading the slides. Tests can literally be tested on anything in the slides which adds up very quickly. It's an online course but forces us to have an in-person digital midterm on a day that's not even a lecture date. Unhelpful in general and would highly recommend taking literally any other prof.
Terrible, doesn't let you email him so he makes you post your questions on a discussion board but never answers the discussion board. Often miss words questions on quizzes making quizzes very confusing.
Does not allow emails and forces students to use discussion boards, frequently creates incorrect questions on tests with many spelling mistakes. Does not create study guides for mid-terms and exams. Additionally, It takes months to get any of your grades back and they still have errors in the grade book.
Has one of the most comprehensive course outline I have seen but very firm on his schedule. it's a big class with about 400 students, so its not easy to satisfy everyone. I enjoyed his course and learnt a lot.
Wasiu ruined the whole entire purpose of this course. He constantly reads points directly off slides and speaks in a tone that doesn't motivate people. Also, he rarely answers questions on forums. He has double standards. Never fulfills his words. Expects all his students to be perfect but wants students to let go of his mistakes. Avoid him!
His class is a mix of synchronous and asynchronous lectures. He uploads lecture materials ahead of class. I attended two of his four live lectures and found them useful. This gave insight into how the midterm was graded. He has his rules. He gave feedback and published his marking guides on Brightspace
His course is online with in-person midterm and final as written on the course outline. He has comprehensive lecture materials posted on Brightspace. With 400 enrolments, opportunity for one-on-one was not there except during office hours run by his TAs. Overall, I enjoyed the course, and it would be better if he had fewer students.
The professor is strict but very nice. He extends due dates without penalty if you approach him. The class size is huge, so he encourages using the discussion board. He uses office hours to attend to students' needs and explain lecture contents not covered in the online class.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Raji's lectures and the content of this course. The material is fascinating and delivery during class is easy to follow.
I enjoyed the course and learned a lot of useful information. I would encourage the professor to be more flexible because some students are working full-time.
Nice course! He gave reading guides for the midterm and final exams and they are helpful. looking forward to the final!
His lecture was OK. He gave feedback on assignments and exams to the extent of releasing marking guides/rubrics to students through Brihtspace. Released course materials ahead of class. I enjoyed his in-person summer class but wished it was online
Awesome! Thank you professor for the revision class tonight!
I have wanted to take this course for a while now because I have always been very interested in this subject but only independently. I have been pleasantly surprised to find that there is a lot to learn about this subject and therefore I have had a very engaging time in your class. Thank you!
Good course. The professor gave reading guides and concentrations for the midterm and final exams which reduced the volumes to be covered. Thank you, prof!
Not a bad course for an elective, it certainty isnt a breeze, so be mindful. I understand that the class is very large so grading can take a while however he does seem a bit unorganized. Midterm requires you to memorize lots of lecture material but the questions end up being relatively easy. Assignments are pretty straight forward
Course is content-heavy which was difficult. Students complained and Wasiu listened to their notes. He had a review class for the final (only 10 people attended). Students complained about the difficulty of quiz 1, Wasiu made the rest of the quizzes easier. Wasiu understood that the course was difficult and tried to make changes where he could.
Despite Other reviews. After taking 2 courses with Dr.Raji, he is an incredibly accommodating prof. He truly cares about his students and is one of the most approachable profs I have ever had. He is a fair grader, and all around a great person. He encourages his students at any opportunity, it has been a pleasure to have had Dr.Raji as a prof.
Wasiu listens to complaints and take appropriate actions, the class is big, but he did his best. thanks for the enjoyable course experience.
I have had a very engaging time in your class. I know it's not easy to handle a big class. I enjoyed the feedback which improved my grades progressively and appreciate the opportunities to make up for the missed grades.
The course is content heavy but the prof tells you where to expect questions and sometimes organizes revision. I understand his ways after the first quiz and progressively improve my grades. Prof. Raji cares about his students.
Wasiu was very accommodating in a large class (over 100 people). Students explained that the first quiz was difficult, Wasiu made the rest easier. Students asked for an exam review, Wasiu had a revision class (only 10 people attended). Wasiu did all he could to help the students, it wasn't his fault that they didn't take the help he offered.
Exam's were in person! There is SO much material on each lecture with terrible formatting. The exams ended up being pretty easy but the questions were drawn from the most obscure infromation, which really pisses you off after spending 10 hours reviewing the main concepts only to have no questions on them. Very time consuming elective. Don't take.
Online lectures with multiple quizzes. Not as easy as anticipated but a very useful course. The professor has compassion for students and listens to complaints. Although the course has volumes of materials to read, the professor tells students where to expect questions for midterm/ final exams.
I got a good grade in this class, but regardless, this class was pure hell. Professor Raji rarely listened to student complaints, expected his giant midterm and final exam (which were in person on an online course? on the most inconvenient days, throwing everyone a giant curveball) expected too much memorization and was completely disorganized
Wasiu is a good professor, but the course is content-heavy, and the class was large. He did his best to help students, provided feedback and allowed makeups for missed quizzes and mid-term exams. His kindness really helped me relax a bit more as my stress was becoming overwhelming this semester.
Got a good grade but the course itself did not come off as easy. While each lecture contains lots of terminology and concepts, he almost never goes into detail and just reads word for word from his slides. He often has trouble explaining certain topics. The exams were alright but most questions did not have much to do with the lecture or textbook.
The lectures were absolutely dry and pointless. You show up for 3 hours during live lectures and all you'll hear is Raji reading every single sentence from the slides without expanding. Mostly taught myself the material from the textbooks and slides. Showed up to the midterms and finals and still got an A.
Don't take this course with him! Hates it when you email him. Forces everyone to reword everything and put them on a discussion board, even if the question involves an individual. Quite a few questions on the quizzes aren't logical with poor wording, often making them very confusing. You can also expect months long to get certain results back.
The course isn't difficult by itself. Instead, it's the strategy that the prof uses when he delivers those lectures. A lot of his points are difficult to understand. This includes some of the specifications that he states throughout the assignments. However, you do get a fair amount of ideas from the textbook if you are lost.
Doesn't know how to teach properly. Reads everything directly from slides and struggles to answer students' questions in a clear way. Makes everyone write his midterms and exams in person instead of hiring online proctors. Changes due dates randomly. The grading criteria for his assignments are unclear. Quizzes are pretty easy though.
Did well in this course but surviving it was a nightmare. Professor Raji gets annoyed rather easily when it comes to different questions, even if it's an important question by email or in class. Lecture notes are clear but they aren't captivating whatsoever. He throws in lots of terminologies while being completely unorganized.
Very difficult to understand. Presents lectures monotonically in a verbatim way. Grading criteria for evaluations are so out of control that TAs sometimes get confused. Very stubborn when it comes to questions during office hours and can gaslight you if you attempt to prove your point.
The course is straightforward, but the professor is one of the worst I've encountered. Lectures are unhelpful as he merely repeats the slides. Attendance is mandatory despite the lectures being useless. He provides terrible feedback and is stubborn when asked questions. Essentially, don't bother seeking help from him. The course, however, is easy.
Very unorganized when it comes to lectures. He barely does any work on his side because he shoves 3 and a half hours worth of recorded lectures (not made by him) down our throats. Very bad with feedback and constantly complains about receiving emails.
Just avoid this professor. Never reply email. Hard test. Hard mark. Nobody likes him as I known. You will thank me if you avoid him.
Don't take it with him.
ERTH 2415 should be an easy and interesting course but Prof. Raji makes it a nightmare. In lectures, he just reads through the slides with 0 new information. Participation is worth 5%. He has a BIG problem with managing Brightspace content so everything is in shambles. The quizzes and midterm were full of incorrect and vague questions.
The professor did their best. It was a large class and not all will be happy. He posts sample questions on Brightspace for the quizzes and the exams and gives opportunity for make up exams/quizzes. I recommend his course.
The course is interesting, tilted towards sciences but easy to understand . The prof is a fair grader but doesn't like personal email because it's a large class. Said over 300 student enrolled in the course, prefers discussion board. He operates a comprehensive course outlines, sends tons of reminders and gives opportunities for makeups.
mandatory attendance but classes r useless tbh - just study the lecture slides, all quiz/test questions r straight from there - questions can sometimes seem worded weird/wrong but just follow whatever the slides say
Professor Raji is neither difficult nor easy. He's compassionate and has his rules, clear course outline and grading rules.
Lectures and exams are online which made me enjoy my summer job. Expect 3 quizzes, 2 assignments, and a midterm/final. Lecture attendance is graded but not mandatory. The professor is a fair grader and grants makeup for missed quizzes. Said enrollment is over 300 and prefers discussion board to emails except for personal issues.
The course is 100% online, it's lecture heavy so get ready to read. The rules are straight, so is the course outline. The prof is compassionate but a bit strict with his rules.
The course is easy if you follow the rules. Everything you need to know is provided on Brightspace including sample questions and tips. But be sure you are ready to read - lecture is intensive. Prof Raji is compassionate and reasonable firm. Not a difficult course.
I enjoyed the class. The rules are straight forward. The prof post sample questions for quizzes and exam. dates are set at the beginning of the class and there are opportunity for makeups if you missed any quiz.
Wasiu is a good professor. He knows what students need to succeed. His course outline and lecture mode are clear and straightforward. He's a fair grader.
Prof raji is a good instructor. He rescheduled missed quizzes and midterms and kept all activities to his lecture period. the course note is long but he provides everything you need including videos and sample questions for the exams and quizzes.
The course is content-heavy but the professor is compassionate about his students' learning and grades. He gives all you need to succeed. No textbook is required as lecture notes and videos are provided on Brightspace ahead of the class. You will tank me later if you register.
The course is lengthy and combines synchronous and asynchronous lectures. However, Prof Raju is supportive and accommodating as he provides lecture slides, videos, and sample questions on Brightspace. I found these to be useful because of my work schedule. I will give him A grade.
This is my first course with this Wasiu. Good prof, cares about his students
Hard to understand at times, but an easier marker and caring about what students are learning.
Prof.raji has his rules and a comprehensive course outline. He care out his students and emphatic. His course is a large class but has good control and clear communication.
Wasiu ruined the whole purpose of this course. He constantly reads points off slides and speaks in a tone that doesn't motivate people. Also, he rarely answers questions on class forums. He has double standards. Never fulfills his words. Expects all his students to be perfect but wants students to let go of his mistakes. Avoid him if you can!
Kindly avoid this professor if you can! Gaslights a lot.
I would avoid him if I could. A tough grader who also reads from slides. He wants you as a student to be at your best he is never at his best. This is a double standard.
Avoid if you can.
I would not in any way recommend this prof.
He reads from slides and gaslights a lot. Avoid if you can.
This professor should not be teaching at Carleton. His class was the worst of all the classes I took. No teaching skills and no compassion for students.
His tests are very difficult to pass. Avoid him if you can.
Very interesting course. The prof was very helpful, clear slides and detailed explanations. He's a fair grader.
The course is content heavy and it's shown in the course outline. The professor is very nice and compassionate. I like the ways he delivers his lectures.
With enrolment of about 400 students, this is the largest course I have attended in my life and I give the prof an A for the ways he handled the lectures. The course outline was clear and lecture materials always ready. there were multiple opportunities to makeup for the missed quizzes.
Very interesting elective. The professor cares about his students.
Wasiu is always ready to help students. My best professor this term.
This prof is not exceptional but very considerate. He takes student complaints very seriously and resolves them
I have taken three courses with this professor and found him to be supportive and keen about his students' success. Professor Raji is a fair grader.
It was a large class but a great experience leaning about earthquakes flood and tsunami. This prof gives all you need to succeed in the course. Take the course and thank me later.
Thanks for the term, Prof Raji
Did not enjoy the class, unclear instructions and unequal grading and marking
Always confirm what he is asking for because multiple times he wants one thing and the TA doesn't understand what he is looking for. This leads to poor and unfair grading between students with some being taught the wrong things
I wish I had taken this class with prof Raji, too many double standards, unclear instructions, and unfair grading and marking
I will not recommend anyone to take his course(s). Even universities and colleges in Canada need to be aware of this professor before hiring him.
Please take another class if you can! Unclear instructions and he is not empathetic at all. Grades very tough and makes it hard to pass a course.
Prof. Raji grades your class attendance and is never clear about course expectations. Please avoid his class if you can.
Reads from slides and not compassionate in any way. Universities beware of this Prof!
Please do not take courses from this prof!!
He is in no way compassionate! Please avoid if you can. It has been some weeks since he taught me and I am still not able to forget his bad teachings and personality.
Not a good professor at all.
Not okay to take courses with. Please beware!
He is not compassionate in any way. Universities beware of this Prof!
I do not understand this prof, honestly. He gaslights a lot and manipulates you!
Please avoid if you can.
Please avoid if possible
Prof. Raji is a fair grader, helpful disposition.
