very clear and explains the concepts very thoroughly
He explains clearly and very easy teacher.
Best Teacher ever! He esplains everything so clearly and relates topics to everyday issues we can relate with. I would reccomend taking Wayne.
Neidhart was my math teacher and my advisor!!! Definatley reccommend him to ANYONE!
Can someone say "Human Calculator"
Lectures in a clear & easy to understand style. Available to provide help to students at anytime. Works through examples in a concise manner, as many as needed. Only ask! One of the best math teachers at Edmonds!
The best instructor I have ever had for math. He is very fair and one of the kindest people I have ever met.His demonstrations are amazing!! He offers a lot of help in his office, also. I have learned to love math because of Dr. Neidhardt.
Fantastic teacher.
I took Wayne before I transferred to the UW where I continued to take math courses and I still think he is the best instructor that I have ever had. HE'S AWESOME!! The "Human Calculator"!
I used to hate Math, now.. I actually enjoy it because of him. He is VERY clear and easy to understand. Excellent instructor.
Used to love math, now i will probably never take it again. Whenever explaining things in class, it was done in the simplest manner and yet on the tests, he picked the hardest questions. Too much time was spent going over individual questions (10-15 minutes EACH). Irritating and distracting habits. Got more out of the book than the lectures.
I used to love math. His class goes too fast. First 20minutes, we go over the homework. One classmate said his class was easiest ever and he got 4.0. His tests & finala exam seems easy; but I couldn't solfe them. I studied a lot, but it wasn't enough. I didn't learn any from class. But I would like to take his math class again, if it's in night.
Absolutly loved the class. I wasn't good at math prior to his class, but now I acctually understand it.
Took his class two times and failed it both times, not to say his a bad teacher but just not my type.

What can I say, He is such an awesome teacher. Sometimes he will explain things so well id want to say "Move on!" But, he made sure everyone was on the same page as him before he moved on. I cant ever get classes anymore with him because it seems like everyone gets to his open classes first. Grr. if the man could duplicate himself...
Dr. N is a Fabulous teacher. I've had him for math 80,90 and now 131. I use to HATE math. I was afraid of it and did anything to stay clear of it. Now I love it. He explains very well. He is available after class and in his office for help. He really wants you to understand. So far 4.0 in both 80 and 90. Hopefully this class too. He's great!
He's very nice teacher. All the quizzes are base on your HW, if you do your HW you can just copy them to your quizzes. His test may be a little hard but a 90% is a 4.0 in his class!!! Quizzes are 10% of your grade but if you do your HW, that's an easy 10%!!! His teaching is great and very easy to understand. Just that he writes a lot of notes.
Absolutely the best math teacher! Very clear in his lectures. Tests are multiple choices, T/F, fill-in blanks, short answers (there's downside to this b/c no partial credit, either right or wrong). Test questions are fair, as long as you attend class and do the homeworks. Also, he's da "human calc"!
This guy is great. 90%=4.0 instead of 95%. Quizzes are easy and exams are straight forward. This guy is very helpful and is some sort of human calculator, very impressive
Extremely good teacher. He teaches real well. I would recommend him if you actually want to learn something.
Amazing way of teaching. Homework is never collected, but quizes are straight from HW and you can copy your homework answers. Grades based on quizes and exams. If you don't like bussy work and understand math, this is a great professor for you. Plus, he's super smart.
Best math teacher ever. Providing clear lectures and fair tests. Go for his class if you can
Mr. Neidhart is a very good teacher. He explains the math very well and is available for help. He WANTS students to succeed and it shows in his way of teaching the class.
He the best teacher ever. He explains the staff very well and the exams are fair.
The grading system was not fair. About half of the exams were true/false. No partial credit for the most part. He demands a short essay on every exam, so it pays to know the concept. His explanations are OK, although I'd like to see more challenging examples. The quizzes were from the hw. I didn't enjoy his teaching style.
He provided a syllabus with every assignment mapped out for the whole quarter. He didn't impose a lot of fluff and nonsense. We strictly worked from the book and our tests were reflective of our assignments. Every class begins with answering questions from students regarding their HW, then he explains new section with remaining time. He's great!
he might be a good guy but he talks to the board and his explanations aren't always clear. i did really well in 131 but i barely passed this class in large part because of his unfair grading policies. try for a different teacher at this level. he might be better in a different class.
Good instructor. Has a set timeframe on when homework should be done and when quizzes/tests are given. Only gripe is that he sometimes digresses from he subject a bit and can also be all over the board, making it seem unorganized. And on tests, I the multiple choice and true/false have no partial credit, but worth a lot of points. SOL if wrong.
Dr. Neidhardt is awesome. His exams can be frustrating due to no partial credit for 2/3 of the test (e.g. multiple choice, t/f, etc.). NOTE: Don't forget the "+ C" at the end of your indefinite integrals. He does balance it in that you only need to get a 90% in the class for a 4.0. Also, he's well-organized and has a good sarcastic sense of humor!!
I am a really good math student and I struggled in his class. He makes no sense during the lecture and he repeats him self soo many time it's annoying. I got a 3.0 in it and i knew how to do it all, he just tests you on the hardest problems possible. i do not reccomend
I thought this class was horrible. I knew the material in the beginning from previous classes but he just made the material 10x confusing then it needed to be. I went to class all the time and did the homework but the test were so hard that I never even understood the questions. For a lot of the questions he only gives either full or no credit.
Boring lectures, he just does proofs all day. Tough exams, multiple choice / short answers weigh too heavily without partial credit. Unfortunately there were no alternative Calc 3 instructors.
MY FAVORITE MATH TEACHER OF ALL TIME. Great, funny lectures, extremely helpful and well organized. Neidhardt is as good as a math teacher could get.
He made the material more confusing than it needed to be. I listened and took detailed notes but it didn't do much good for the tests which were the hardest problems that everyone struggled with. Half the time he seemed bored with the material (math 90) and it translated into his teaching.
I took 3 classes (153, 251, 271) from him while I was in EDCC (5 years ago). He was a good instructor, even though sometimes, I thought that he was probably made more for research rather than teaching...
This instructor is an excellent teacher, but won't take your crap, so keep on task! Nice guy, learned lots.
Funny and sarcastic. Great instructor. Homework given every day, but never collected. Quizzes were directly from homework assignments. Tests were challenging but not impossible if you did the homework. I got a 4.0 without too much grief. I would like to attend another class taught by Wayne.
He must be having a bad quarter. He never joked, smiled, or spent time helping any students. Choose Adams if you want an engaging instructor -
He seems tired of teaching, tired of students, tired of life. Tests were of problems not covered well in the chapters and WebAssign sucks! If you already know math or have a father who's an engineer... You'll pass. Otherwise, plan to take Precalculus twice here at EdCC -everybody else does!
Expects students to be adults and keep on track. Very organized class, spends half the time answering questions and the rest going over new material. Explains problems in the most basic form possible. Not the most animated guy, but to each their own right?
this guy sucks. he was a real jerk and always seemed like he would rather be anywhere else rather than the classroom. He basically just says what is on his notes, and leaves. pretty much it. I wouldn't take another class of his.
Wayne is an excellent teacher! I've taken his Calc 3, Calc 4, Diff Eq's, and Linear Algebra with 4.0's in everything but Calc 4 (3.9). His explanations are very clear and correct. He knows all the material and he almost never makes a mistake or is unable to answer a question. He assigns homework every day but if you do it all you will do f
First, he's very unapproachable. He seems bothered by student's presence. So, I ended up teaching myself the material. Second, his attempts at humor in class are condescending and arrogant. He assumes people come from the same background and social/class status, therefore we are all genius' at math and are dumb if we don't "get it."
Definitely not my favorite teacher. I'm a good student who does the homework and comes to class every day. Really hard questions on the exam, no partial credit on the majority of the exams, and no curve when the majority of the class scored in the 60% range. What does that say about a teacher?
If you are not a genius, do not take this class. I have always gotten A's in math. Until him. His Tests are extremely hard to pass. Most is 5 point no partial credit. The average for the first test was 68. 90-100=4.0 80-90=3.0 All else=Fail. Does not go over everything in homework doesn't look at HW problems assigned. Extremely hard to get above 80
good teacher, if you pay attention and keep up on hw, he is real with people, and only gives grades on based on performance. Best at Edmonds for sure. his favorite comment is "we offer math 90 at this institution". know your algebra skills before attending any upper level classes of his or he'll tear you apart...have fun!
Of the math professors I've had at EdCC, I recommend him the most. He is an older gentlemen, which is good because that means he has a lot of experience teaching, and hence is better at it. Additionally, it is easier to get a good grade in his class than in others-a 90% is a 4.0. Usually, one has to attain a 93% or a 95% to get a 4.0.
I've had Neidhardt for the 3 or the 4 calculus classes afford at edcc and every single one was challenging and as a result rewarding. Generally his finals are more about demonstrating you understood the topics covered in class instead of computationally intensive problems. The no partial credit section of exams can be an easy place to lose points.
i took all the CAL, DVQ, linear algebra class with Neidhardt. And I got all 4.0 so easy. He is the best teacher I have ever met. I enjoy taking his class and I recommend people taking his class.
attend his class, take good notes and listen to his lectures...whatever he goes thru in class is what you will see in his tests. one of my favorite teachers.
He is a funny guy, good at explaining step by step. everything is worked on the computer (classwork, homework, quizzes)activity days are on every other friday and its only a question. esay class and easy teacher, but dont fall behind or you wont be done on time for the final.
Although I had him for *only* 2 quarters, for MATH&'s 141 and 151, I really think Neidhardt is my favorite math professor at EdCC. I would really recommend him for math. He typically pretty clear on his lectures, which are important to keep track of. He's real funny and his grading system is good (90% = 4.0). He makes a hard class easier!
Dr Neidhardt is THE best math prof at Edmonds. I struggle with math concepts and had to take math 080 & 090 two times each. After my first attempts w/ teachers who didn't explain these concepts to where I understood them, I registered for Neidhardts class. He is so good at what he does & his classes were ones that I looked forward to going to.
He knows maths and teaches in a simple way. i like that he keeps order in class so following the course material is easy. if you want to learn maths, he is the right guy.
If taking Summer QTR, attend ALL classes, it will help! He explains the material very well and he is on top of things. Tests are include multiple choice, T/F (no partial credit), fill in the blanks (which can be helpful) and a couple of problems (maybe partial credit).
Took this course during summer and was worrying about how I would do. Neidhardt is the best math professor I have ever had, let alone just at Edmonds. His explanations are simple and slow. He gauges the class' understanding of a subject and will go more in depth to something or less in depth accordingly. His tests are straight forward too!
almost don't have homework. only 1 question per week. total of 3 quiz, he will drop the lowest one. + one final... self-study is really important. choose him, if you are smart and lazy. And math&144 is a tough class, don't choose it.
Great and good man. Proofs are crystal clear and concepts are built up steadily and consistently. Don't ask any stupid questions in the high level classes (calc and 200-level), though, because it really ruffles his gruffle. Absolutely would recommend for anyone.
Wow, one of the best professors I've had in any of my math classes. He is the best at explaining and I took him for precalc1. You have to put in the work though. Wish he was teaching calculus.. Do the homework and you'll do fine in the class.
Self-study is required.Otherwise, you'll fail.
Unless you are great at calculus you won't be able to learn from his style of teaching. Doe's enormous proofs during class and that is as far as his teaching goes. Test are part multiple choice, true/false, and 3 problems. Class doesn't do well on tests.
After many years out of a classroom, he made the transition back to school easy. He was clear in his explanations, has a fun demeanor and was super helpful all semester long. Cannot wait to take him again..
Homework was not mandatory. I did my lessons every day, online and in the textbook. Tests are extremely hard. I got a C+ on the first, which was one of the highest scores. Maybe if most of your students are failing, you should change your style of teaching/ give tests that actually cover material that was taught.
lower expectations on grading (90% = 4.0) and only a little homework. explains the concept as clear as crystal, and he's pretty funny as well. however... his tests are unique. there's a multiple choice section and a true/false in addition to the math problems - makes it HARD to get a 90% average. -____- I still recommend him though. just work hard!
Avoid this teacher if your not a math person. We received virtually no quiz and the textbook homework was just for our benefit and the webassing is not enough help. In my opinion a quiz or practice test is essential to doing well on the actual exam.
I'm satisfied with this teacher, but sometimes the topic of discussion board was really hard to me to understand and explain.
I liked this professor. If people cannot handle math they shouldn't take it out on the professor. If one studies they will succeed. I liked him.
Great mathematician, Not a great teacher or person. Generally pretty grumpy. Study hard and you will probably pass, but its likely to be a painfully slow class.
Terrible teacher for lower math level classes. no actual help just points at the computers help button
Don't take this class if you are not already familiar with this level of math. You will be stuck learning most of the material on your own. Wayne launches into insanely long proofs of why theorems and formulas work, without providing enough time for questions and examples. His tests are also often too long for the 50 minute period.
Excellent educator. However. many bias to understand that knowledge need to be balance with technology.
I liked this class a lot, my gpa did not. He does not tolerate disruptions in class. He explains concepts in great depth and answers questions if you have any. He might sass you if your question displays that you weren't paying attention. His tests are particularly brutal (no partial credit for roughly 80% of each test and pretty long for 50 min).
You are right! God bless America, SEAHAWKS AND NUMBER 12.
You really comprehend the differences between right or wrong numbers. You are my Maverick!
Neidhardt is one of the best instructors I've had; however, the tests are definitely not easy. The other students and I still hold a great amount of a respect for him. If you want an easy grade, find another instructor and another class altogether. If you want to learn and feel accomplished, pick Neidhardt.
He is a great teacher. If you do your homework everyday and study then his tests won't be hard. Some lectures are confusing but his class isn't that hard.
Nope! Stay clear if you care about your GPA. You need youtube to get through the class, and you will do better on his tests if you ask him what form the answers should be in. No partial credit for the right answer in the incorrect form. No extra credit, no enthusiasm, I don't know anyone who got an 'A,' I was on the honor roll, was..
Really boring class and teacher was kinda mean . Tests are hard and stuff he doesn't cover in class. Wouldn't recommend unless if you can really self teach yourself all the material.
This is the worst class I've taken in my entire life. The teacher takes 45 minutes to explain a very simple problem that we understand but then when we get to the homework and the tests it seems like he didn't teach us any of it. I absolutely loved math before taking his class but right now I absolutely the it! Horrible teacher.
Basically, Wayne is a good teacher. The way he explain in class is very clear if you pay attention.. It's just the difficulty gap between his example and the homework question is too big. Had a hard time at first. Overall, he is great, he answer all of my question with a clear explanation. Tests are easy if you do the practice. No extra credits!
Very good teacher for those who want to understand maths as deeper as possible
He doesn't give not many tests. His explanation is very clear and quite understandable; but you need to practice and solve the problems in homework section by yourself. For me, it was good way because I can manage my time. If you are not a active time manager, you might be better to look another teachers...
Professor Neidhardt is a good teacher; his lectures are crystal clear. However, If you are a bad test taker, you won't pass this class. His class's grade is 90% test and 10% online quiz. There is pretty much no way to get your grade up unless you actually do all your homework and work hard for it. He never gives handouts too. 70% of my class failed
Lectures are pretty good. No quizzes. Its 90% tests and 10% HW. Easy HWs. 90% is a 4.0. Tests are tricky. More than 18 problems on all tests and not enough time, especially when the problems are hard. You can only get partial credit on 30% of the problems. Which means a sign error in all the other ones can give you a 0. Drops the lowest test.
I loved his lectures. Pretty clear. However, if you actually care about your gpa, don't ever take his course. I'm a 4.0 student, but I got a 75% on his test, and that was above average. Dropped his course right away. Really. Don't. Take. Him. Forreals.
If you want a good GPA, stay away from Neidhardt No quizzes, 3 exams. graded very harshly. A majority of the points come from M/C, T/F, Short Answer questions that give no partial credit. Be off by a +/- or forget a .5 somewhere, goodbye points! But, he is also the best lecturer I've had. Crystal clear, and willing to help out individually.
If you want a 4.0 then don't take this class. I took his class last summer and I literally screwed on my score. I'm a 4.0 student in math and end up getting 2.5 in his class. His lectures is amazing but I don't like the system that he uses for his class.
Good lectures that explain the material completely. Grading system is essentially all test based and homework is assigned but not collected. So if you can't force yourself to do the work for your benefit then this isn't the class for you. The lectures are amazing and worth though.
While he is a great lecturer, I hate his grading system. He grades on webassign avg, 3 exams (lowest dropped) and the final. However, his exams include a M/C section, and short answer section that take up 80% of the exam, with no partial credit. Accidentally put a - somewhere, and your entire answer is wrong for no points. Be warned.
Really knows what he is talking about, outstanding lecturer. He will always thoroughly explain concepts and answer any and all questions, you just have to seek help when necessary. Makes math fun at a high level and really pushes you to be your best. Don't expect a blowoff class with him though.
I took the class in Fall 2017. Uses WebAssign for online hw. No quizzes; 3 Tests. Optional additional textbook hw. It can help you understand the material better. He posts practice tests, doing them will really help you, so I highly recommend doing those. I like how tests are passed back the next day. Lectures are very helpful.
The most awful instructor ever in edcc.
No quizzes. He will drop the lowest exam grade, but exams are very hard. Hard to get an A in his class.
3 tests make up 100% of your grade. Study math every single day and pay attention during lectures or else you will fail. He has a great personality and he's able to explain concepts very clearly.
Everything's by the book. 3 tests, 90% of the grade. I would argue that doing well/poorly on the tests doesn't necessarily correlate with your mathematical abilities though.
He is really knowledgeable and nice. His grading system is 3 exams (he'll drop 1) and 1 final exam make up 90% of your overall grade, the other 10% is for homework. Exams are multiple choices, true false, short answer... each of them are 5-10 points so getting 1 question wrong, you lose 5%-10%. His lecture and practice exams are helpful, do it.
No specification.
Homework is taught the next class, overall a bad teacher.
Gives a lot of homeworks when he only explains really really basic stuff in class. He as well make the whole class pay $120 for an extra app. He told us that it is to conserve paper, but i think he's just a lazy professor who don't deserve to be in Edmonds Community College.
He is a knowledgeable professor. Unfortunately, he is quite a tough grader and only grade based on 3 exams (your life depends on it). He's not a communicative instructor, and his explanation are often confusing.
If you take the daily class, there will be a lot of homework every day. He uses webassign, which is so expensive. You will get good scores if you study from the practice exams and listen to the lectures well. He is a tough grader, but most of the questions that came out on the exams are similar from the practice exams. Don't ever skip his class
His exams are hard, but if you get 90% in the overall scores, you already get 4.0 in his class.
Mr. Wayne Neidhardt is a great teacher. He teaches very clearly and loves to prove formulas to help us understand more about them. His classes are interesting if you listen to him. Homework is online. You'll also learn a lot from the homework. The bad things people say about him are not true. He is a great teacher. 90%4.0 80%3.0 70%2.0 Good guy
Professor Wayne is an inspirational person in the classroom. I think there is a misconception among students about him, as he is actually a teacher that has the will to help you when you have a question, and his grading criteria is clear. He is known as a tough grader as some questions in his exams do not provide partial credit.
To be honest, I'm biased. As in, I wish he had always been my math teacher. He tries to keep things light and funny. He is a confident teacher. His pre-tests give the layout of the real exams (3) and he takes half of the class period every day to answer questions from students. If you miss an assignment you get an automatic, 24hr extension.
Wayne is such an easy going guy. Yes his voice can be a bit monotonous, but other than that he tries his best to explain concepts to students, and he isn't tough on grading. He is willing to answer all of our questions, gives us helpful exam reviews, and can sometimes be humorous. Overall, a great teacher!
Prof Neidhardt is a solid teacher for math. At the beginning of the quarter, he clearly outlines his grading criteria, which really helps. For his class, a 90% or above is a 4.0(he rounds up from the decimal place), he gives 2% boost just for coming to class, and the final exam was take home, so it made the class less stressful.
I took precalc 1 and 2 with neidhardt, he is professional and hilarious. You get extra credit for attendance. Make sure you don't cheat on his exams, he will pretend he didn't notice you until the final exam. Relatively an easy 4.0 if you are doing the work you are supposed to!
Your grades are based on 3 exams only, no quizzes. Be sure to attend class everyday and take notes of everything he writes on the board (will be helpful for homework and exams). As long as you pay attention in class and practice at home, you'll sure get an A. I don't think you need to work harder in his class than any other math class.
If you are a returning student to review your calculus skills, definitely choose him. He, not only knows the matter but also genuinely knows what's going on behind the equations. However, if you are considering to transfer to a 4-year institution, avoid him. You are graded based only on the exams, and there will be no partial credits.
