Holy god... Wayne is such an incredible teacher it totally blew my mind.
All what you need in a good teacher, enthusiastic, kind, helpful.
good lectures, hard marker
I'm a big Wayne fan I have to say. He marks nicely if you have grammar skills.
I loved the course regardless of my mark, it was really enjoyable

busy guy, but still enthusiastic
yeah for politics
Great teacher. Enthusiatci, and makes the subject interesting.
good prof, always in a good mood
he's not only intelligent, but also a great professor
One of the better profs at Rye. I heard he could speak Russian too.
Very nice Guy, fair marker. One of the best profs I have ever had
Totally cool - very laid back - made politics fun AND his lectures kept me awake! Yay for Wayne!!!

Alhtough this teacher doesn't make notes his discussion are well thought out and explained with many examples.
not bad...course ==> boring, teaching ==> okay
Great professor. Uses a lot of colourful analogies that make the course interesting.
WILL NEVER AGAIN TAKE A COURSE THAT HE TEACHES ... DISPICABLE PROF!
Great prof, engaging, a wealth of information, very fair and respectful of students
An amazing teacher makes the course worth while.
awesom teacher, wonderfull enthusiasm...I loved his course and would take it all over again...if you r thinking of getting a lower level liberal studies take this course
Great prof, always happy to be in the lecture...to the point and positive!
Don't take this class with Petrozzi. He's an incredibly hard marker. No matter how much of an effort you put into your assignments, you're still likely to get a low mark.
I loved Petrozzi's class......the lectures are clear and interesting. He IS a hard marker, but I find that's because there are so few assignments, and he doesn't put many comments on them -- it makes it hard to correct your mistakes for subsequent ones. But he's a dynamic speaker.
Very nice personality. However, it does not reflect on his work. Very brutal, on tests, and essays, his lectures are very confusing and unclear, very disorganized lectures not coherent, very hard to study for tests, and misguides students on tests.
he really teaches, and seems to know and respect the topic at hand. his tests and assignments are take home, so you are free to really do a good job, you just have to put in time.
Good PROF, but boring lectures. Marks hard.
The only thibg I know about this prof is "NO FINAL EXAM" in his classes
IT was an easy class. Nice teacher, for sure.
This guy is great. His his monday morning lectures are more like "storytime with Wayne" He Rediculously funny, makes light of heavy subjects while still giving you a wealth of information
sometimes I can't really tell if he's telling a story or teaching facts. very hard to follow as a result might hinder grade, cause he's exams are based on lecture notes.
Full OF BS thinks he knows everything
this is the prof you need to get you going on a monday. One of the best at ryerson without a doubt. Will always make you laugh. Unfortunately, the material isn't incredibly interesting and it does get tough to follow along.
awesome awesome awesomE sucha great teacher and really knows his stuff!
his class was like the subway... you go there to either chat with friends, sleep or listen to music.

Great lecturer. You will have a hard time arguing with him if you disagree about what he is saying. He has strange way of looking at the world that is very idealistic but is not very connected with the real world. Overall, great class, no exam. But hard marker.

Decent Lecturer
Awsome class, highly recommended to anyone interested in recent world events. Wayne is a great lecturer. He did not make us buy the text like the other POL208 class had to (saved lots of money), instead he uses a bunch of articles from various sources which we had to read. Makes more sense than using a text. Lots of reading but very interesting.
Great person. great teacher. I loved his class so much I sat in the continuation of POL106 the semester after even though I was not registered. Not biased at all, and is very knowledgeable. Not an easy market though. he knows his stuff and is very fair and relaxed.
Smart, experienced man. Extremely knowledgable about the subject matter, he teaches public servants how government is structured. Hard marker but fair. But public admin is a very dry, and he is a lecturer, so if you're not interested in the subject don't expect him to change that.
He is a very very smart man, and knows his stuff. BUT very seemingly anti-American- which may not be a bad thing. He has brilliant perspectives on things, and makes the course material very interesting by approaching it in an enthusiastic way.
Amazing prof! Passionate and energetic lectures. I would recomend this course or any course he's teaching. Lectures are related to text, but not the same information so attendence is very important.
Wayne is awesome. His lectures are really interesting and he is hilarious! Loved his class so much. It's important to attend class because his lectures are not out of the text. Highly recommend taking any class he's teaching.
Wake up and smell the coffee people. This guy tells it like it is, no messing around. He might be anti-American, but so is the rest of the world outside Canada. Very interesting class, take notes in class you'll be fine. Couple of essays (easy), and a take home final (based on the $15 course reader). Very interesting, easy and useful course.
If you go to class, you'll be fine. Took a few classes to get the hang of his lecture style. Medium-hard marker. Warning: he will likely invade your personal space on occasion. Don't take it personally.
thinks he is god in class, will win arguements at any cost, no sense of reality
While this professor is an very entertaining lecturer, he is both imposing and a hard marker. This would not be so bad were he more willing to provide indication of where students were going wrong.
Wayne is an enthusiastic lecturer whom is always willing to provide assistance. The class was graded upon 4 essays of a broad range of topics. To succeed with Wayne: good English is a must, external research (w/ proper sourcing. + a genuine interest in the subject!
Amazing proff he did mark first assignment hard but second one he marked it good. there is a take home exam and all you have to do is attend class and read a bit good guy overall very smart
What an enthusiastic teacher! He is very helpful and goes out of his way to guide students through the course. It's easy to get a good grade if you go to class, do the readings, know how to reference, and don't leave your papers until the last minute. Horray for the take home exam!!
He likes to walk around in a circle and stare you right in the eye! Very enthusiastic about the topic at hand, one short assignment, one term paper and a take home exam. Pay attention during lectures and remember to read the readings! He is a fair marker and this course really broadened up my knowledge.
two essays and one take home essay exam.. piece of cake!
Wayne's charisma even during lows does well to inspire. The class is a very good opportunity for anyone to gain a powerful vantage point on the modern human condition. The reader you get in the class is a compilation of the most pivotal issues facing global politics right now, with Wayne's insight to help you connect the dots and there you have it
really easy going and forgiving if you mess up here and there. Lectures are kinda boring though...
Best.
no exam or midterm. Seemed easy enough. Hard marker for the final. Did well going into the last assignment.
i have a problem with my writing , so i kinda of failed that class but that is because of me. however he is nice professor and but icouldnt stay his voice it was boring and monotoned so yea ! regardlessly if your a good writer, and love politics take this course.
He was a great professor! Really nice and understanding. He even let me redo one of my essays so that I'd get a better mark. He does have this thing for eye contact in class though. He'll stare you down in the eye pretty much, so just avoid looking at him. Other then that, he's a good professor.
I had Wayne for one of my electives first year and loved his class. Very interesting speaker and kinda funny as well.
I took this course as a first year student and decided it was going to be the hardest thing since i know nothing about real politics. However I stayed with this class because I enjoyed his teaching style. It turns out that if you make an effort to attend all his classes and seminars, it will pay off sooner or later. My final mark was a B-.
I had no interest in politics prior to taking this class, and I thought POL208 would motivate me to learn more. It didn't. BUT, Petrozzi is a great prof! He really cares about the subject and is helpful. DO THE READINGS AND PAY ATTENTION in the lecture because it will pay off when you do the assignments/exam. Easy marker too. Overall, great prof!
Wayne is a born story-teller; whether you like politics or not I gaurantee you'll never be bored in his class. Attendance is MANDATORY as he never posts anything on blackboard and rarely emails. He's very broad in his subject in that he's not western centric etc and gives both sides of the story. I loved lectures, easily my favourite class!
This guy tells stories like a champion. His lectures are fairly easy to follow and, even when the material is boring, he finds a way to grab your attention. He's hilarious as well. I recommend him to anybody who wants a course with minimal work load and strictness.
I have had him twice now - in this course and in POL208 and I as MORE than happy to get him again. He was supposed to be a comedian or a story-teller or something! He's hilarious and pretty real. He's straight up about what he expects from you but treats everyone like adults. (Actually rare)
Great instructor, interesting assignments, Highly Recommended.
Wayne was an amazing prof, loved his teaching style so much that I took POL 208 just so that I could have him as a prof again
Best Proff so far! Very nice & class was very easy. Lots of writing and reading tho.
anyone have notes for this class?
Makes material very interesting and covers aspect of material not spoken of within text. Be wary this course has a lot of material that needs to be read on a weekly basis. Prof does not use blackboard at all. Final was a take home exam in which you wrote two short 1000 word essay on two of 8 topics provided.
He gave us a take home exam and there wasn't much work during the semester, he does not give tests. His marking is pretty average, he is not super easy but it's not hard to get an A if you work hard. He made us buy a textbook that he copied, it was $20.
He is a really nice man and is very lenient when it comes to handing in things late or re-doing assignments. However, his lectures have no point. You can never grasp what is actually relevant to the course. Also, he is a HARD MARKER. I excel in writing and ended up barely passing, even when I went to every class!! I should have dropped it!
Great professor. I went in with the idea that I just wanted to get the class done fast for the credit since I'm in engineering but he got me interested in it. Very understandable and will give extensions if you ask in person but don't abuse it. All assignments had choice and were take home including the exam. Great office hours, textbook only $20.
His lectures are amazing. He loves what he does, his lectures really open your eyes to how the world is. He is a very nice man, easy to approach after class, or even during class. He has his own custom textbook which is pretty dense in material. He doesn't use blackboard, he's old fashioned, but still one of the best I've ever had.
this prof is hilarious! he is very likable and easy going, very considerate and is always watching out not to go overtime which is always appreciated. he is mindful to give breaks on time and is even apologetic if he forgets which doesn't happen often. he is a happy camper but i wish he would post his lectures cause my hand falls off in his class
This prof seems to love nothing more than listening to himself talk. He refuses to use Blackboard (not even to post assignmentsoutline), has no visual cues for his lectures, so good luck if you're not an auditory learner. If you try to discuss anything, he cuts you off condescendingly. Average marker, will let you redo assignments (the only pro).
He was a nice prof. However, he is very critical in terms of marking. Very very hard marker for the essays. The perks of the course was that there was a take home exam. You should attend all lectures and understand the material to do well in the course. There are a lot of readings.
Very engaging professor, but can be tough to follow at times. Take good notes, because he doesn't share his slides - but there is no need to copy the slides down verbatim. He uses a lot of real-world examples from his work in the lectures, which helps make things clear.
Doesn't use any visual aid at all and doesn't share any content on online database. Very old school, when he lectures it's not clear what you're meant to write down or know. Passionate when he lectures, but I wouldn't take a class with him again
The lectures are long and you will have to take really good notes. He pulls material from readings for exams, so be prepared to remember the author of the reading, and the gist of the subject matter. Fair marker for course work and mid term, hard marker for Final Exam (but final was a take home exam - so that is a MAJOR bonus).
He has little structure to his lectures, and he admits it. Essentially, he's just standing there talking to himself and it can be engaging but if you try and get away without reading the material during the same week, you will screw yourself. That being said, he's a fair marker and he appreciates creativity and enthusiasm more than being right.
Great professor, funny, interesting, great readings and lectures
Wayne is really nice and funny and gives you chances to redo things, he really cares about students. However, he has no D2L and no structure to his lectures, so it can get really confusing and it is easy to get lost in class, you must attend and take a lot of notes.
Please do not let the lack of a visual aid / online presence stop you from taking one of his classes! I was scared when he said this at first but I have, so far, gotten all A's on my projects! You just need to listen to his lectures and take notes, his lectures are very informative and you can learn alot. Take home exam !
super easy, really nice guy. graded on 2 assignments and a take-home exam, just make sure you know what you are writing and your grammar is great, if not you will get screwed over. but god damn his lectures are 3 hours and it feels like 3 days, and it correlates with his assignments so u gotta be there. good luck in his lectures rip
Not good for visual learners. No structure to class or lectures. Also, he yelled at me for returning a textbook one time. Angry guy.
I took two classes with him. He tried to make the lectures discussion based, you could tell he cared about the students and the topics we discussed and he was open to communication outside of class time. I felt he wanted us to succeed and get us thinking. He was great.
Be warned this professor uses no visuals and does not have D2L. Its not clear what points are important and the content is confusing for someone who has never taken a politics course. You are graded off two papers and a take home exam. The textbook is cheap and the prof seems considerate, but the format of the course is a deal breaker.
Expectations are extremely high, gives no information for the assignments. Tough marker, do not take him
Do not take this class if you're a first-year student. He doesn't use D2L or powerpoints. He stands there and lectures for 2 hours without any hints to what is significant. Only graded on 2 papers and a take-home exam. This is a very confusing class if you're not aware of the history of politics. Would never take a class with this prof again.
The prof was amazing. He is kind and treats you like a University student, however the way the course is structured isn't really helpful. The short answer assignment and essay were fine, however, I found the take-home exam questions to be difficult to do. If you want to pass or know what's going on in the course, you need to be there.
one take home exam worth 40%, one paper worth 40% and a participation/presentation worth 20%. he is extremely knowledgeable on what he teaches but his expectations are very high. this is definitely not an easy course and simply doing the readings will not help, you have to go to his class. extremely tough marker , be extremely detailed in essays
i dont understand how he has a 4.0 rating... if you are not extremely detailed in your writing you will not pass this class, his expectations are extremely high , see him multiple times for office hours before submitting your paper. a nice professor but this is far from an easy grade
He is the perfect prof for an elective (2nd year +). He lets you write what & how YOU want. He doesn't force you into writing exactly what he wants to hear, he wants to hear your own opinions. No d2l but that didn't bother me. Just take notes and ask him to repeat stuff if you miss it. Great guy to have a convo with too, very knowledgeable!
He does not post anything on D2L, if you want notes, you have to go to class and take them yourself. There is a lot of reading from the reading package that you must but from him and you're only graded on 2-3 essays.
This is a brilliant man with a wealth of knowledge. Do you want to learn, or whine when you ChatGPT your way through school and cry when a professor designs a course to test your knowledge rather than what you 'submit'. Quite a bit of the class didn't do the readings. You get what you give! I took 3 of his classes. 5-star!
Professor Petrozzi is no-nonsense, but if you put in the work, you'll learn a lot. The readings are crucial - no shortcuts like ChatGPT will cut it. I found Unstuck study really helpful for practice questions and identifying gaps. Attend class and engage with the material.
He's preaching his ideology, not teaching anything. I went to school to learn not be indoctrinated to his socialist-facist ideology.
