This is the best teacher that you will ever take! He loves what he is doing and explains things at a slow enough pace for us idiots who suck at math. Trust me, take this guy and you will get a new perspective about math. I will take him again for Calculus
Without a doubt, simply the best.
The best Math teacher at MiraMar; the rest fail in comparison to him. Laid back and very knowledgeable about his subject. I highly recommend.

The best calc 151 teacher in san diego, ca. Fun guy!
he's the best math teacher..may look intimidating but is very cool...tests are a bit challenging but grades very fairly
He's reall cool. even though he sometimes acts funny and makes some algebraic mistakes (talking too much "haha"), he really DOES explain thing clearly. I confidently recommand this one!
Huh? I may have taken a math class from a different Mr. Sherman, because I hated it. Maybe my hate for trig-based calc is making me biased. Couldn't read his handwriting. He spoke too fast for me to write things down. Nice guy, though.
not bad, some times he has problem teaching ,but he is a good man
Very nice guy, even though he gets frustrated when he makes a mistake on the board. Good teacher and highly recommended.
he's easy! and he explains things SUPER clear. if you have a question, he's willing to take the time to make sure the entire class gets it. and there are no dumb questions in his class. "okay the class is in silence, it could be you're in awe of math
well to be honest with you he is a great guy but dont expect an easy teacher for math 96. I got an A+ in 95 but am barely averaging a C in his class. teaches well but tests are hard and expect a quiz EVERY day.
He is a great teacher. Dont believe what others say. You just have to put some effort and his tests are really really simple if you study. If you are a good student, there will be no problem in getting an A in his class.
good one highly recommand.... good lecture
He is really good teacher, I would highly recommend to any of you to take his classes. Very helpful when you ask for help with math problems. Explains very clear and very patient person. He writes his own tests for students to take.
Great professor and very helpful. It's a tough class, but I learned a lot. If you pay attention, take good notes, ask him questions, & do the hw, you'll be fine in the quizzes & tests.
The absolute best teacher I have had in any class. Explains things very, very clearly for depth and understanding. Really knows how to teach & how students learn. Very nice, very helpful, fantastic math communication, great personality, enthusiastic...
He's a such helpful teacher. You can learn a lot from him! He makes the class fun, easy, and worth.
Pretty funny guy. Sherman's really fast and jumpy when he lectures, but it's entertaining and hes still clear when he makes important points. he has a bunch of interesting stories he tells, but he has a problem with reapeating his stories chronically.
very easy and funny teacher.sometimes he freaks out when he is solving a problem. He likes to jump in the class and solve complicated problems.
good teacher,funny and active.
Hard sublect taught with enthusiasm. Well prepared. Very patient. Obviously enjoys teaching. Depends heavily on lectures. Great sense of fairness. If you do your homework--all of it--you should do well.
very enthusiastic and actually loves math. He always jumps around when solving problems. a lot of homework but worth it when ur taking tests. If you want to actually understand math, this is a good class to take!
He is a great math teacher, very helpful. Don't get behind on the homework because it prepares you for the tests. There is a quiz every time class meets but those are easy its the tests that are hard if you are not prepared. Study! Study! Study!
Best college math professor...ever. VERY helpful, very personable, very empathetic, very fun. Be sure to complete the homework because he does take exam problems from assignments. Highly recommended.
Very nice, very sloppy handwriting, but readable. Likes to tell stories, and very funny. Doesn't mind if you leave, a lot of HW, but it's easy...so are the tests. Listen and take notes, and go over book before doing homework.
Absolutely incredible. He's always available for questions and will spend half of the class answering homework questions, unlike some professors who will only do one or two. Gives partial credit on tests so that you don't fail miserably. HIGHLY recommended.
One of the greatest math teachers. Very helpful, will help you any way that he can. Gives credit for answers on tests if you show that you tried. Very honest and straight forward about what he wants that will help you out in the long run. Highly recommend!!
Wayne is an awesome teacher. He loves math and takes the time to help out anyone who is asking for it. If you want to have a clear understanding of math, take a class with him as the professor.
Wayne is great, I hated math before this and I used to fail on a regular basis. I'm actually getting A's on tests and understand the stuff. He's a little anal about homework (lots), but it will really help on tests! He is always willing to help and will respond ASAP to any questions sent by e-mail.
Wayne is a great guy and great teacher. If you struggle with math, this guy will save you. I recommend him for these students. However, good math students won't get much more from him than other teachers. He can get off topic and ramble about things, but that's just the guy he is. He also grades easily and gives partial credit for missed problems.
He is a pretty laid back guy. He makes the lectures as clear as he can. Be prepared to hear him ramble. It's worth sitting through to hear the point, sometimes it's entertaining. Great math teacher. Very clear about his expectations/grading/policies/etc.
I couldn't follow him at all, he is dislexic and tends to make a lot of mistakes on the board. He rambles and his tests are not multiple choice, you just have have to work out the problem and see how many points you get! I would take someone else.
Great teacher, best I have had for math in a long time. He makes everything very clear and in the most easy way possible. He is also very generous with his office hours and doesn't rush you to understand. Plus, he listens to punk . . . you can't go wrong w/ a professor who listens to punk :)
He is a very kind person. Extremely willing to answer questions, even take the time to go through things privately. Good idea to look at the book too though, but he definitely will take the time to help you.
This class only requires that you do the homework. He doesn't use scantrons, so you will have to learn how to work through problems. I sat next to someone who did his homework everyday in class as Sherman went over it giving all the answers and how to get them, but only to the problem numbers suggested by the students. I got an A (98%) in this class. I found it as easy as can be, but some people still got F's, I think it was because they didn't even look at their books.
if have the option of taking his class TAKE HIM. He is the best math professor in miramar college. I took 3 classes with him. BEST +++++++++++
i think hes the best math teacher in miramar..hes sucha sweet teacher very fair and clear.
I didnt take him for the entire semester since I dropped out partway through, but I can say this. He is a really nice and helpful teacher. He moves kinda fast in his lectures, so its best to take as many notes as possible! He goes over any homework problem you want. He talks kinda fast and has a tendency to ramble, but thats just the way he is =)
I'd give Wayne an A. I'm not a math person but I got a B in his class. Super friendly, listens to Brittany Spears, j/k Wayne, he's punk rock! I'd take him if I were you, best math teacher I've ever had. Go Wayne.
GREAT TEACHER! Im am probably the worst person at math ever and i passed his class.I tried it twice before with other profs. and dropped both times. The class is a lot of work with tons of HW but for this class its the only way to learn. Very understanding teacher and is incredibly helpful. Take him... YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
Love Wayne... LOVE HIM! I actually understood Algebra! I ended with a B in the class. I am still amazed. Best Math teacher at Miramar!
The nicest teacher ever, hes fun and sweet and you can tell he cares about the students and nothing else. I would take him for everything if i could!
very nice teacher, helps anyone understand, but seriously who put one of those pepper things, this guy is NOT HOT.
like everyone says, he's pretty laid back and really jumpy. very talkative during lecture. however, his lectures are too fast and combine that with trying to understand how to solve really long problems rarely works out. one problem could take up a whole page to solve but he talks too fast so it's difficult to catch up and understand.
Really good math teacher! Very clear on what he will be testing you on. Homework is a must, but it is representative of his exams & you can miss a few w/o much penalty. Also drops lowest test score to help your grade. Very helpful in & out of class. He gives partial credit on tests, so as long as you try really hard, you should pass w/ no problem.
This guy is awesome. He's very accomodating and breaks up the monotony with stories and jokes. Great.
He is a funny teacher however, what he teaches and the way his tested are fromated are not the same. He does not write his own tests; he takes them from on line sources. He allows not extra credit and no make up work. As far as economics I would not recomend this teacher if you do not have a foundation of the subject.
he is the worst teacher ever!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! he has no sympathy for those who do not do good in his class. the only thing he does is drop the lowest test score, but thats if u pass the final! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
This guy loves math. He is a nice, funny guy. This class is a lot of work, and the homework and attendance is mandatory to pass the class. He tries to be fair, but his tests are hard, no extra credit, and the final is mandatory and difficult. His goal is to get you to learn it to move on in Math.
Great Teacher! He's nice and fun! May be a bit quick and write sloppy at times, but he's extremely helpful. Tests are not multiple choice--work them out problems. Which is great because you get partial credit for trying. Arithmetic errors are only a couple points off! Anyone wants to enjoy taking a Math class, then Take Him!
I have tried taking this class 3 times. I hate math, Sherman was SO helpful and made everything crystal clear to understand. Don't be afraid to ask questions or take a step back if you don't get it. He is very helpful.
Great teacher! He talks fast sometimes, but he'll slow down if you ask. He made algebra much clearer to me than other teachers I've had. Highly recommended. I'd take him for all my math classes if I could!
AWESOME TEACHER!
Wayne was super nice. He talked super fast and was sometimes hard to follow. He takes attendance from the homework you pass in. Two sections of homework was the typical assignment- which is a lot. Tests were kind of hard, but with a tutor, I got through it. I think the majority of the class got a C. 96 is a tough class-lots of info to cover.
This guys is a good professor. Be prepared to do some homework though, alot of it. He teaches things in a real world perspective. Dont let his rants and raves about our government discourage you. I hate math, but I finished with a B in his class
If you need to take math 96 this is the teacher for you. Overall great professor.
I hate math. Don't believe the clowns on here who say hes easy, because its only easy if you have a history on doing good in math. Though i passed, it was a struggle, filled with plenty of homework, and misunderstandings. No multiple choice on tests. He'll help you if you ask and hes only fun if you think math is fun.
His tests ARE based on HW, especially word problems... KNOW THEM! He goes kinda fast but I managed some how and I am terrible at math.
Waynes class is very difficult. He speaks very fast and sometimes seems really annoyed when he has to further explain something to students. He is dyslexic(he'll tell you more about it in the class). That makes things difficult b/c his writting is sometimes hard to read.IF possible, avoid his class. Sorry wayne
He's a really cool guy, but he tries to teach Econ through mathematical techniques, and basic Econ isn't mathematical at all. There really isn't a lot of HW for this class but make sure you have already taken an Econ class and have a basis going in. cause as long as you have that you're golden cause he's a really nice easy going guy.
He can be interesting, but he goes through the material very fast. His hand writing is hard to read and he does get inpatient.
This class is simple, has long as you keep up with the homework. He keeps track of your grade with each test (this way you know how well you're doing). He speaks and explains too fast, but he's nice. He is also helpful outside of class if you have questions. Not a hard class, but math is hard if you don't practice - so don't fool yourself.
This guy is pretty rock'n yep =] Calc 1's not easy for first timers if you've never taken it but yeah do the hw ask him to do stuff that you wanna see get B's on the tests and you'll be fine just do some outside problems and go to a tutor once in a while if you're into that stuff but yeah good luck yep yep yep
Wayne is a great teacher. This guy will help you out alot as long as you help yourself. He's very active and hyper. Beware though when he messes up infront of the class, he gets pissed. His handwriting is horrible and be prepared to hear a couple F-bombs in class. I gotta C but again this guy was excellent!
He's all right so far, but he's not the best math teacher in Miramar.
I took his math 96 class, and holy hell...he was a nightmare. I mean, he was cool & some what funny. BUT, he goes a million a minute, writes so ugly that you can't tell the difference between a t, +, y or 4...yes it's that bad. If you're not so good at math, I would not recommend this teacher.
This professor made Calculus a breeze for me. He is easy to understand and willing to spend lots of time explaining for clarity. Although he is a little frazzled at times, he makes learning a difficult subject easy.
Man, I honestly don't think this guy was meant to teach. He gets boring, is hard to understand, is at times unwilling to answer questions/help students that are confused (as well they should be with his teaching abilities at times) and he teaches a bunch of subjects and should probably be avoided.
Took Wayne in the spring, he's a great teacher. He explains things in laymen's terms so I don't see how people can't understand what he's teaching. This is a pretty hard subject, if you were to refer only to the book and you haven't learned it yet, you'll be in trouble. Pay attention, do the work consistently, and don't slack off and you're set.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had! He explains things so clearly I really don't know if its possible to be lost in this class. Lots of homework but if you really try to do it correctly, it pays off on the tests. Closed book/note tests. Has a review day before every test. This guy is way better than Bereaud by far. Take him.
Nice guy but leaves too much to be self taught. Tough to pass class without reading each section in the book. Many people are failing tests.
He is a nice guy but talks very fast. Does problems very fast for those who need to put effort in math, its not a good feeling when you're lost. The homework he grades by accomplishment not by accuracy.
Possibly the best math teacher I've ever had. In trig he only gets half the proper time to teach so he's always rushed and his teaching style often hectic. Regardless, he's enthusiastic, funny, and thoroughly explains everything that's absolutely necessary. Sometimes spends too long answering a problem in class but that shows caring. Thanks Wayne!
Best math teacher ever! Explains EACH step if you don't understand. Goes fast, but will go over it again if you didn't get it the first time. Handwriting is a little sloppy, but you get to know what he is writing. Recommend this teacher for any math class.
Very good teacher, clear and explains everything. I had to skip a few classes so that hindered my grade a bit but if you go to class you should get an A.
If you're typically not good at math, or pure memorization, don't take trigonometry with him. Also, if you are not planning in going higher in math than trigonometry, don't take him.
Wayne is an awesome professor! His handwriting sucks, but his effectiveness at teaching the material through words and metaphors more than make up for it. He'll prepare you well for future math classes. I wish I could take him again. Oh ya he's funny as hell too, so you're not gonna be bored in his class.
Take this teacher! I had him for 96 & 104 and he teaches everything so well. He'll occasionally share a story which can be funny at times. Showing up to class is your choice, he doesn't really care. It's obvious that if you don't show up though, you might miss something important. Other than that, he's my first choice for any math class!
Take him !!!! He rocks!! Cool guy!! He is a great math professor at Miramar college. He is clear, open to every comments, and simple. His test is very straight forward and he tells us what items going to be on the test exactly. He never tricks you!! Easy A if you put effort and try to follow his homework.
Aside from Tucker (Engl 101,105,205) Sherman's, by far my favorite Miramar instructor. His classes are fun and he presents what can be a very tough subject for many in such a way that it's fun to learn and fairly easily grasped by all. Very helpful and passionate (about his subject) instructor.
BEST TEACHER ON THIS CAMPUS. Seriously. Good sense of humor and explains things in a way that you will understand him. In addition to Econ he also teachers Math so look out for him! He will make sure you understand and his classes aren't hard!
The most amazing math teacher anyone could have....and i hate math!
Excellent teacher, and an all around fantastic person. I've always disliked math, but I've come out of this class ready to go to the more advanced classes, and found a love of math, I can't do enough. Wonderful class, I highly recommend this professor.
Wayne is an excellent teacher and a good guy. He is clear and helps people who struggle. If you are interested in learning mathematics then you will not regret taking him.
I'm a fan of math but after reading these "good" reviews, I took this class hoping it would be enjoyable and understandable but it isn't. If you ask him why he solves problems a certain way, majority of his responses will be parallel to "particularly because I'm this type of person.. blah blah blah." Honestly you're better off teaching yourself.
Had an A in his class throughout the semester, got an 87 on his last test. I think I messed up pretty bad on the final and ended up with a B in the class. Not a hard class by any means, just pay attention on the last section. All the others you can easily teach yourself. Easy grader, definitely taking 141 with him.
I definitely do not recommend him. He is unclear and I did not learn a thing from him. In my oppinion, his way of doing things/math is more difficult and complicated. He is also boring and unhelpful. I do not know why he has some good reviews. He gives a lot of homework and the tests are doable if you are good at teaching yourself.
I dont know what happened in his class but I got a B+, I did not write any good notes I only copied everything he had on the board and later I don't remember learning anything.. because I was stoned most of the time but still. I passed with a B+ and I felt like I just taught myself the whole time.
Wayne was the best instructor that I've had during my 3 years at Miramar. He is a very interesting guy and his lectures are very involved/ entertaining. Wayne taught the material that was essential for doing well in mathematics. He didn?t teach students how to memorize equations. He taught them how to think. I guess this approach is hard for some.
By far the best math teacher ive ever had in college. I took trig with him too. His teaching method is good but a little fast. He only checks to c if u did the HW n gives u full credit. His tests r not tricky and grades them fairly bcuz he knows sometime we make stupid mistakes. DO the HW and take notes and u will do just fine. Highly Recomended
Wayne is the best math teacher I've ever had. I don't know how I didn't understand math in high school. He helped me gain confidence in my math skills and presentation. I was honestly scared that I was going to fail Trigonometry but after the first few weeks I knew I could count on him for any help I needed. He's an intellectual and a great teacher
DO NOT take Trigonometry 104 unless you are REALLY good at math and absolutely need it for transfer/degree. The class was very hard, several hours of homework every night. Many people dropped out. Wayne goes way too fast and has sloppy writing.
I honestly don't see how this guy has so many good ratings.. I am terrible at math and rely on this site to choose professors. I have had ONE class with him and already had to teach myself ch1sec1 for the hw due the 2nd day of class. He hardly covered any of the section, was very unclear, and had awful writing. I would drop right now if I could.
I highly recommend this prof. He makes calculus enjoyably easy. His classes are well structured and he goes out of his way to help students. Based on his lectures, it is exceedingly obvious that he is passionate about mathematics and his job. Class is well paced and is always a good experience.
Amazing teacher. One great thing about him is that he doesn't do problems beforehand, so that when you ask him to do a problem from homework or just from the section, he might struggle through it (meaning take a wrong path) which helps a lot. Very clear (as clear as Calc II can be) and incredibly funny! (Dont take if curse words offend you.)
Wayne gives you pretty much the closest thing to layman terms calculus. Clear explanations and gives problems that explain calculus and not 3 hours of algebraic drivel that most professors have a hard-on for. I'd say how concise he is simultaneously a con for those who don't pay attention or go to class. Take him if you get the chance for Math150+.
THE BEST MATH TEACHER! He thoroughly explains concepts and he can solve any problem given to him from scratch. He relates to the students and has a couple stories to tell along the way. But math is something that you have to work on everyday if you want to excel at it. His only con is his handwriting. Great teacher - take him!
Sherman was a good math teacher. He is a little scatter brained. His test are hard and he gives a lot of homework but it is a math class. The more you practice the better you will understand it. Overall, I liked the way he taught so I would take him again.
I was already enrolled and when I showed up the first day, he said it's all self taught and all online. I couldn't crash another math class, they were closed. Now I regret it and trying to pass. He keeps reminding me I can't do it and going to fail. I'm still trying though. He doesn't teach. He just sits in his office.
Be careful! This class is not a regular lecture class and if you GO TO HIS ORIENTATION he lets you know you NEED to be a motivated self paced learner if you want to pass the class. I dropped before the first class bc they make it sound like it's fully online w an option of coming in for help, NO! Mandatory weekly lab hours! Nice guy though!
Most of the class time was spent fixing his arithmetic errors, which were quite often. He loves talking about his upper-level Calculus classes, as well as letting his audience know that "he is the expert." He takes it easy on his tests, but his condescending personality, poor handwriting and fast-paced lessons make it important to learn by oneself
He is so disorganized, but his classes aren't boring. you'll get used to his way of teaching! I wanted to drop this class first, but fortunately I didn't and I got an A. Exams are pretty easy as long as you have done the HW problems.
Very good teacher. Took him for Pre Calc and Calc I. Cares more about the fact that you grasped the concepts rather than the correct answer. Quizzes at the end of every class makes it easier to pass and you retain more information for the final. Tests are tough but the are exactly like the quizzes. Passed quizzes passed tests.
Really funny professor. Be prepared for a lot of homework. And they are all online on WebAssign. Which can be frustrating. Daily quizzes which aren't as bad as they sound.
I'm sure he's a good professor for people who don't struggle with math, but if you do struggle like I do I would find another professor. He's not helpful at all, if you are struggling he'll suggest you give up and drop the class instead of trying to help you.
One of my favorite math professors by far. Yes, this course was difficult and very time consuming but thats expected in calculus. Quizzes each class that focus on the previous nights hw (worth it bc it will force you to do your hw, which will ultimately prep you for exams and final) Attend lectures, do hw, ask for help when needed, you'll do well.
I am taking his summer math96 class right now and he is a great professor! Having this class only be 8 weeks, he is very good at explaining things clearly and answering any questions. He is very laid back, approachable, and you don't fall asleep during his lectures! Do his study guides (they are EXACTLY like the test), ask questions, and do the hw.
Wayne is an awesome teacher and does not mind repeating himself if you do not understand any concepts, teaches very clearly and helps you a lot! As long as you do the homework and come to class you will get an A!
Your grade is decided by 2 test the mid term and final they are 50% of your grade do poorly on those you fail. All of your home work and other test are the other 50% have an A in that and fail the mid-term or final you fail the class. There is no extra credit offered. He talks a lot about you dropping or withdrawing if you make C's on his test.
Wayne is one of my favorite professors. Her made Calc 1 easy and clear. He reviews questions from the homework before teaching any new material. He also reserves the class day before a test for questions and review. He gives quizzes every day but it helps keep you in check. The quizzes are also a huge help in studying for the test.
Professor Sherman is a good choice. He is funny and gives pretty good lectures (although you may have to look for help online here and there). BEWARE of his "pop-quizzes" he gives every week, although they aren't much, they will add up and can tank your grade. Math 150 is a hard course, but take this guy and he'll help you through it.
Not the best. Tough grader. for midterm and final he does not prepare you enough. no review or practice tests
This class was horrible, you taught yourself everything, and then when you take the quizzes and homework at home, you are fine, but for some odd reason the midterm and final when you go to the school to take, you follow every rule you learn in the videos and nothing comes out the same as options they give or say is the answer.
8 weeks online math and the final is nothing like the previous tests. He does not prepare you enough and has high expectations.
like omg the homework you watch all video and asked for the help but like god damn professor sherman doesnt teach u anything thats the problem if u raised ur hand he'll ask u if u watched the video or whatever he posted its like insane im having trouble i tried my best and might fail the class
Notes are nonexistent so you teach yourself. All he does is a few problems on the board. Grades are 10%HW 30%final 60%exams(3), he replaces your lowest with the final if its higher. No study guides, exams are more difficult than HW. Equations must be memorized.
While Wayne is an okay teacher he has a lot of pitfalls as well. I was able to get a B in this class from studying super hard. Self-study is really important because his lectures are not very well organized and he goes on a lot of tangents. Also, your grades are like 90% tests and 10% homework so no cushion. No rounding either 89.99 is a B :(
Wayne absolutely doesn't teach you anything, just explains a few examples of every chapter. Instead of teaching you the math he is talking alot about his personal life and how you should already be good at math. His favorite words are, "It is what it is". His lecture makes you fall asleep in class. Save yourself alot of stress and don't take him!
If you are willing to do hours and hours of Self-study than take his lecture. His hand writing is very bad. He also confuses the whole class when showing us examples on the board. He makes several mistakes regarding wether the number should be positive or negative. Whenever you ask a question he makes you even more confused.
Pros: nice partial credit giver, really enjoys math, other than the first 2 weeks attendance isn't mandatory, replaces lowest test score with final if better, example problems on 1&3 tests Cons: homework 10% test 60% final 30% no quizzes, no cheat sheet (gives some formula for final only), test and homework are very different, no notes, WEBASSIGN
Wayne is a fantastic teacher! Not only does he have a lot of funny stories, he makes learning calculus fun. There are no group projects and homework is online, but he's accessible if you need help with HW or reviewing for a test. Do the HW for the section right after the lecture so if you need help with a problem, he can answer it next class.
The poor reviews are accurate. I think in the 3 hours of class he "teaches" I learned maybe 2 functions today its like that every class. Talks about nonsense and himself the whole time. you have a lot of home work and he doesnt teach u how to do any of it. daily quizes, which are on the hw. im thinking of not going to class anymore to self teach.
Wayne is a great Professor, his lectures are helpful in introducing the basic concepts but the real learning comes from doing homework problems. He spends a lot of time going over homework during class which is really helpful so keep up with the homework! Class is very test heavy but the exams are fair! You are going to need to put in a lot of work
Quizzes (15%), online homework(10%), 3 exams (45%), and 1 cumulative final (30%). Exams consist of 10 questions. Not allowed to bring any formula sheet. No extra credit. His lectures were almost clear which I liked, sometimes he made mistakes though. Not that hard class. Would like to take him again.
Wayne is a very good professor! Even though there are pop quizzes everyday, it helps push you to do your homework and to study more. If you studied well,. you'd find the quizzes and tests really easy. He isn't a tough grader, and he mainly focuses on if you showed work - that's where he gives more points. He always helps when you need him.
Wayne is the best. He is very practical and down to earth. He grades fairly. He is amazing at explaining concepts. He will always answer your questions in a way you can understand. He never makes you feel dumb, he will go to great lengths to make sure you get it. His stories are funny! Took him for Calc 1 and 2, and so far he has not disappointed!
Take him if you can. He is super easy and very passionate in teaching. He love to use white board. During the pandemic, he is very understanding; he even upload the exams to Canvas about a week in advance. He is always willing to explain any things unclear for students. He made Calc 2 extremely doable.
3 main tests. The Final will replace the lowest test grade. Before we went online we took one test, the average was a 93... Not sure I would have gotten an A if we had not switched to online take-home tests. I think he is proctoring in the future with zoom so be careful.
Prof Sherman is legit, just put in the time and effort, and you'll be solid.
The class is straightforward. Instead of lecture videos, there are links to khan academy videos, assignments on Cengage, and two quizzes every week. The course is very self-taught and only takes a couple of hours to complete the assignments for the week.
Very difficult and time-consuming. You have two Cengage assignments and two quizzes a week, plus a lot of Khan Academy reading -- and it's insufficient to the point that you'll have to look elsewhere for help, too. Just watch Organic Chemistry Tutor's YouTube videos and hope for the best.
For the online course, Prof. Sherman did not make lecture videos and his recommended resources were the textbook and Khan Academy, neither of which helped me. I would not recommend if you struggle w/ learning from a book, but if you have to take this course, watch O Chem Tutor's youtube videos. Otherwise the online format is flexible which is nice.
