He is very rude professor. He has his own rules so he thinks this world should run according to him. will shut u up front of the class he if does not like your comment. donot take him.... alots of work...... does not understands students.
Not a hard teacher, but kind of hard to figure out what you really need to study for exams. His exams are different every time. He has his days, some days he is very sweet other days you don’t want to get close to him; he will embers you. Very knowledge professor, so he will get off tangent a lot. Take lots of coffee with you he talks way toooooo
This class is a lot of work. There is homework but it is easy to do. I got an A- but would have gotten a C if he had not curved. The quizzes & tests are tricky, and the average on the 1st exam was in the 50's. It was nice that he gave 3 gift certificates from Nordstrom to 3 students who were the top 2 students and one who was the most improved.
The homework assignments are straight-forward. The tests are a bit challenging becuase they cover so much material, but they are not impossible to study for. Know the text book cold, and be certain to read all of the supplemental material assigned in class. Oh, and pay attention; Prof Smith is smart as a whip, you just might learn something!
he is a very hard techer and exams are impossible dont take him and usually has bad attitude
aaah! stay away from this professor! he makes the gateway class worse! he is too too full of himself!!
This professor is a professional, and he teaches his students to become professionals. If you just want to pass BUS 302, do not take him. He will seem rude, stupid, show off... If you want to develop professional skills, take Pr. Smith. Trust me, you will not regret it. He is self-confident, helpful and, of course, SMART!!!
nice guy! he is not easy but he is a professor that wants you to be SUCCESSFUL in whatever you do.
Often went off topic, but would then test on the material mentioned even if it had nothing to do with the course. Expected every student to memorize every list in the textbook or on his website. Web site was very confusing, and had too much material. When he did tell you what to read from his web site (which was rare) it was impossible to find.
He keeps you busy the entire term. To pass the test READ and memorize everything. He does not like talking during class and is very demanding during the class. Gives you A's if you think through assignments, so just do them. Do miss classes, lectures are in tests. If you do this, you should not be intimidated by him.
I had to drop his class, he is very offensive and yells at you. He is out of control. Does not know the material, does not explain, and always turns you down. First day of class he says, "I give mostly C." So that will really motivate you right!!
This man should not be allowed to teach graduate level classes.

This man is terrible. He is REDICULOUSLY hard and his tests are crazy; there is too much material and you must memorize. only take him if this is going to be your only class. There is tons of work; pod casts, book report, tons of reading both from text and online readings. I don't think he has a life so he makes it so you cant either. AH
This man is a horrible teacher, i dont recomend this class to anyone.
The reading load is ridiculously heavy. Can’t understand why our reading material is growing each week? Teacher’s expectations are unrealistic. Somebody, please tell him that this is not the only subject we are taking.
Honest reviews were taken down, here's the truth. He gave a quiz on the first week on the syllabus. He quized us on an article we were never assigned to read. Interrupts presentations. Does not like it when people ask questions. Expects us to dress professionally, but has worn tattered clothes (once with a hole in his pants). Condescending and smug
Horrid class. Avoid him at all costs. Teaches the class as though it were a graduate course. Insane amount of reading. One midterm covered 9 chapters 5 Harvard Business Review articles, AND 3 suplimental readings. And you have to KNOW them i mean like memorize them. IF YOU ARE READING THIS PROF. SMITH, SOME OF US HAVE JOBS AS WELL AS OTHER CLASSES.
Text was cheap but makes you buy $$ HBR articles! Lots of reading. The essay exams are horrible-you really do need to have a good memory and if the questions happen to be the ones you don't know you are screwed. Does seem to curve generously though. Multiple choice final and assignments were pretty easy.
Probably the worst professor I've ever experienced in the 20+ years I've been in schooling. Way too much work and completely untrustworthy of his students. I had a family emergency during a midterm and refused to even speak with me unless I had a note from the hospital and an proof from the insurance company! What a jerk!
he is very knowledgeable and nice guy in his office but his class is graduate level, too much uncessesary information he gives to the class otherwise you can learn so much from him if you were at the seminar.
MGT360 class is not difficult. Yes, there is a lot of reading. Big deal. Other assignments are not too bad. Become an active reader and stay motivated. He's a good guy and cares.
DO NOT TAKE!!! The first day of class was horrible, he assigns WAY to much reading, isn't helpful, strays off topic, has a pop quiz on the second day of class. He acts like he is helpful, but is really just arrogant. He interupts you, and critisizes his students in front of everybody. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!
U all r bunch of little girls crying like a baby. I had this professor for Mgt360/BUS302 he is the best. He is getting us prepared for the real corporate world. Its students like you that give CSUN a bad reputation, therefore the big name firms like Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch do not come to CSUN. IF U not serious about learning go 2 Devry.
IF YOUR GPA IS LESS THAN 2.8 PLEASE DO NOT SHARE YOUR OPINONS, they are High Yield (HYO)! HYO are also considered "speculative" or in a more offensive term "junk."
Can seem arrogant at times, but he's a sound teacher. Get over his quirks, and you soon find that his class is very insightful and rewarding. Not hard to pass as long as you stay on top of the reading, most of which is adding extra detail to what is often common sense.
Sure, in the beginning he seems tough, mainly to scare off flakes. But he is a very insightful prof. Follow his rules, do the reading!, and attend class on time. His Mid term was tough, Final was a breeze. If you can take him, I felt he taught me useful info for the workforce as well as street smarts.
Just letting you guys know, don't take his pace class. You will have to spend nights preparing for tests,(a lot of readings) and he gives you pop up quizzes which he never announces! so, be ready every class like for the test!!!
He's full of it but the topics are interesting. The HBR articles are useful. A lot of reading and he's not kidding about being on time and the pop quizzes. This is not a class for slackers, that's for sure. No scantrons, just essay questions. Good luck!
Do NOT take this jerk...He never succeded in his business career and now tries to look important. His grades are not based on your performance but on whether he likes you or not. And for those who are concerned with how objective my opinion is - my GPA is 3.5 even after this useless f..ing class...
This professor is full of himself. He does not know how to grade. My whole group got an A in the class and he gave us all a C and a C+. He makes know sense to us. Throughout the semester we all got A'a and at the end he gave us a C. I don't know how. Be careful of what you get at the end. He doesn't seem to care how you do throughout.
Don't be late to class, take notes and practice active listening. His class really prepares you for what is to come ahead. Demonstrating the ability to learn from your mistakes - A big plus. Make sure you rehearse your grammar. If you're an all around good student and can demonstrate this to him, you can get an A or at least an A-.
Prof. Smith is very difficult, but you'll either learn the material well or fail the class. Overall a good teacher that I'd take again. Don't buy the 'clicker'. We used it once and even then only in a non-graded exercise.
If possible don't take his class. WHY? 1)He has PMS everyday 2) The reading load is ridiculously heavy. 3) He teaching style is like a communist time teacher 4) Pop up quizzes every week 5)Instead of grading for MGT he concerns more about your vocabulary and grammar 6)i felt like i wa sin military
If you want a good grade than DO NOT TAKE HIM. His grading system sucks. He is THE worst professor at CSUN. Stay AWAY from him and his class.
Yes! reading load is a lot. However he's one of the best professors at CSUN. I took him 4 BUS302 & MGT360. If U don't like reading then don't bother taking him. He challenges U 2 think in the material & use it in the real world. He is a tough grader on grammar. At the end of it U'll know the difference between efficiency & effectiveness.
Don't recommend him at all. He is selfish, has no respect for his students, makes the class harder than it is.
The best! If you want to become a better business person, take him. He will take you to the next level! He teaches you to become a natural speaker, and you will like public speaking, mark my word. Your writing will improve from his scrutiny. Take him if you are an intrinsically motivated person. If you just want a good grade, take PanAfrican Studies
do not take him. His is just a waist of time. If you are willing to chalenge your GPS to get down then take him.
He is scary at first, but you will find that his expectations are very clear. If you are willing to learn and put in the work to do it, take him. If you're looking for an easy "A" don't take him. Five case studies (4 written, 1 oral), pop-quizzes, in-class ethics essay, and more. Do NOT forget to wear your name tag!
To those people that say he teaches good Business. I disagree, unless you?re looking to how quickly you can get a sexual harassment lawsuit.Go ahead take him. Also, to those that say if you do the work u?ll get an A, that?s a lie to. NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORK IT?S NOT POSSIBLE. He claims to want to help improve students that's BS. STAY AWAY
This professor is the rudest person you?ll ever meet. He doesn?t care about the students at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Wayne Smith teaches hard. He gives you too much work for this class. I did all the work and showed up to class everyday and still got a C, didnt even miss one assignment. He gives you quizzes, tests, book reports. I recommend taking someone else. Oh yeah helikes to boast himself every class " Stafford this Stafford that." F**K Stafford this is CSUN
It is not an easy class. There is a lot of reading. But if you come to class and do the reading, you'll get a good grade. There are a lot of assignments and pop quizes on the assigned readings, so do your readings and you'll be fine. Be sure to study the syllabus, he gives a pop quiz on the syllabus.
He tells you exactly what he wants.Just do what he asks you to do.He doesn't like "smart asses".He seems taught, but he is not that bad. Yep,you have to do a LOT of work, but it is the same for any Bus302 class. Just smile and make nice presentation slides.Read everything he assigns because there are in class pop quizzes. I got an A
good, interesting and funny professor. you will be entertained because he is very dorky and goofy. his class isn't an easy A but it's possible. lots of reading and pop quizzes. i ended up with a B which is good considering i hardly read and bsed the quizzes. i will definitely take him again!
He co-taught my night class. Luckily, I had the other guy, but was still subjected to his nonsense. He locks you out on the dot, sends you home if you don't bring the book (that you barely need in class), interrupts while you're presenting, & repeatedly rambles about all his uninteresting acheivements. Save yourself the agony & take someone else!
He?s a horrible professor, it?s just that simple!! Don?t take him. He?s rude, and disgusting he always pulling up his pants. I?m an A student and there is no way anyone can get an A in his class. Seriously just avoid him for gateway.
This professor is such a bad professor he will kill your GPA, and your motivation in school. I am an A student and got a B. I worked really hard in my group; I basically did everything including the majority of editing because two students in my group English was their second language. Basically one of those people got an A based on my hard work.
This professor is biased towards student athletes and Russians. If you are in that category take him if not don?t bother. You won?t pass, you?ll be lucky if you get a B.
This guy is so rude he will interrupt as you giving your presentation. As a teacher you would think he would get that interrupting someone as they are giving a presentation will not improve their skills but make them more hesitant to give presentation. This example is a clear reflection of this professor, and how he needs to be fired or quit.
B ready for lots of reading and quiz quest that are hard! he is so arrogant and rude. be on time to turn in your stuff. 2b safe, get there 20 min early because he will take 50% off papers that are turned in 2 min L8! he is very intimidating, be prepared. Make sure you do great on your reports becuz that is the only hope you have 2keep a good grad
He is a nice guy, but very OCD about some things. Be on time! If you read and have decent writing skills you should be fine. I liked him, but he was a bit "quirky" at times.
Material is simple, straightforward and interesting. Be prepared to read supplemental articles and text often. A few easy assignments and an overrated book report. Unfortunately, Professor is a jerk, unnecessarily rude, has major control and attitude issues. He is disturbingly arrogant, I would never refer his course to anyone who enjoys learning.
I don't think there are any good Gateway professors, but this guy has to be one of the worst. He is very rude, interrupting students during their presentations. He also grades the written cases very hard. He takes 5 points off if you miss a comma. Try to avoid his class if you can.
anyone who fails this class is an idiot. take the time to revise the group reports instead of slapping everyone's writing into one document without looking at it. yes he grades hard and it sucks, but everything that he expects from us is clearly stated in his website. try actually reading it and maybe you wouldn't make dumb mistakes.
yes, he is rude and a hard grader. but any gateway class regardless of the prof. is going to require a lot of work. smith actually makes you learn something. everyone who keeps whining about this guy is going to be in hell with their upper division classes because they want to get by without actually doing anything.
Not a class for slackers. Be always on time (seriously), read the material, and be prepared to turn in the assignments at the beginning of the class. Do not miss any of the assignments or quizzes, this could seriously affect to final grade. He?s loud and sometimes scary, but he?s actually very approachable and helpful.
omg he needs to stop with the quizes... if he keeps this up a lot of people will not pass the class.... i really hope he grades on a curve if not the quizes will definitely make you fail
omg he needs to stop with the quizes... if he keeps this up a lot of people will not pass the class.... i really hope he grades on a curve if not the quizes will definitely make you fail
As intimidating as he may seem at first, he grades on very easy curves and he's always willing to give out help in his office hours if you ever need. Nowhere near as bad as some may make him out to be.
I just took his bus class this fall. Actually it is not hard. most of them are group work. sometimes he is a little bit too strict to students but he really want us to learn something. I am an international student and i found it is actually a helpful class. he gave me $25 gift cards for big progress on the second quiz. not as bad as he is rated.
I love this teacher! He is a hard grader and very strict with writing skills, but you do learn a lot of him. He is very passionate about teaching and that shows. I took his gateway class and MGT 360 class fall 09. Did very well in both classes. Always be prepared because he has a lot of quizzes that aren't hard is you read. Take this class!!!
He is smart, very helpful, and if you do the reading, you will do just fine on the quizzes. True, he assignes a lot,so if you lazy stay away from him. After his class you will feel confident writing and speaking in public... He is one of the best business professors in CSUN.
REALLY HARD, BUT WORTH IT BECAUSE IT PREPARES YOU FOR THE REST OF THE CLASSES. HELPS IN WRITING AND SPEAKING. STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE LAZY AND DONT WANT TO PUT A LOT OF HOURS.
Don't let these ratings fool you. He's a great teacher, in fact you won't learn more from any other professor. Having said that, he's very demanding and tough. However, if you work very hard, you will get an A or B guaranteed. He appreciates hard work and teaches you how to apply everything you learn to real-life situations. Love him.
He is hard grader though, Although, if you want help, He is the best. You will definitely learn from him. I do not recommend take BUS 302 and MGT 360 together unless you do good with hardcore classes. There is lot of material to read in both of his classes and lots of work to do as well. As everyone said, if you are lacy don't take him.
Horrible at telling you what he expects from his assignments. Doesnt give you back your assignments til super late. Grading rubric makes no sense what so ever because in the end thats not what he goes by. Pointless class.
He's a teacher you you'll learn a GREAT DEAL from. He's passionate about it which is good, but he's serious too! He actually CARES about you learning and being prepared to get a good job (AND he uses a cheap textbook! how cool is that!). He's strict so get to class early! Read all materials ahead of time, volunteer for questions and debates!
This was probably one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken, but you take away a lot of information. He will be very critical of your work, but if you show improvement, you can get an A in his class. That's the only reason I and a couple of my group members did.
If you can get past his arrogance and belittlement, he is a good professor. His intentions are good, but his bedside manner needs improvement. Very clear in what he expects through the rubrics. The summer class was worth it, but you will work hard. Hope you have a good team, and just suck it up and get the work done. It's over soon.
The class itself is not hard at all, it is just a lot of work. Just hope for a good team. The professor tells you exactly what he wants but other than that he is not really helpful. He treats u like kindergardners. I wouldn't recommend taking the class with him, but if u have to it is managable, just act like u r listening in class and u will be ok
I took his BUS 302 class in the summer, that was not as hard as I thought, just a lot works. It all depends on the team work, so if you are in a good team, you will get a B easily. Personally I think he is pretty helpful, but u have to let him know that you really need his help.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Very rude, disrespectful, will take any chance he gets to humiliate you, never gives positive feedback, talk over you but will yell at you if you try and talk over him, grades very roughly, disreguards questions he feels are inferior. If you want Gateway to be a god experience for you, don't take him.
TRUE: He is rude, interrupts you while presenting, arrogant, assigns a lot. NOT TRUE: He is not helpful, does not know his stuff, clear on what he wants from you. Having said that, he is not as horrible as some make him to be. Always is will to see you in his office to help just ask him. Wants you to learn so you are prepared for the real biz world
He comes off very arrogant, and well he is. But he is very helpful in his office, but if you visit him you are his best friend. gives helpful feedback and is not as hard as people say. he does what he does for a reason. by far the best class ive ever taken, even though it is a lot of busy work and group work.
Dude is very knowledgeable about business. Just do the work and don't say "YOU GUYS" while speaking, it's like taboo, you'll be straight. Attendance is mandatory. I had an injury and presented still, it was cake. Good luck to whoever takes him. =]]]
I wish someone warned me about this professor. He is really rude; grades unfairly; never really answers your questions and his quizzes are very hard. He really lacks many basic qualities that a university professor should have. My advice: do not take him.
Horibble teacher. His syllabus is extremely un organized and contradictory for a professor, let a lone a business professor
Cool teacher. You must attend class and should do the readings. Beware pop quizzes they are hard. Be careful with grammar he will take points off, can earn back in office hours. Grades on a curve. Gives points for participation.
He wasn't as scary as I thought he'd be. He loves teaching and he's professional. He's a great introduction to the business world. He gave out $25 gift certificates to high performing students.
He's a nice guy and wants you to be successful. He has a really creepy laugh and tries to be funny. The quizzes are based on the textbook chapters which are not too bad. He also wants you to ask "insightful" questions. Attendance is mandatory. Overall, OK class but mostly based on self-learning and a lot of reading from the textbook (you need it).
Really bad teacher. He tries to be funny all the time which is really awkward. He doesn't mention anything that is due, so if you forget to check his website, you're pretty much screwed. It's basically a self taught class because he doesn't really teach.
He is a very smart guy and wants his students to succeed but one thing about him is that he really doesn't talk about the textbook
Don't be late/ speak out of turn. When papers are due, make sure you arrive early since he collects in the beginning of class. Also the day after exams or assignments are due, attend class since he passes back work and you need to be there to collect it or you'll get marked down. He cares about his students though. Lectures aren't based on the book
He is tough but this was the best class I have taken at CSUN. I learned so much but you will definitely need to put the hard work in. Attendance is mandatory and he does pick on the class a little but its really to prepare you for real life and work life. His quizzes are really hard if you don't read all the material he posts on his website.
Awkward. He tries to be funny a lot but no one in class really laughs at what he says. Can be quite annoying. Read your book for the test/quizzes or they can be difficult. He is a very smart man and knows exactly what he is talking about. Just don't be late.
Took during summer and had no social life for that 6 weeks, kiss weekends goodbye. Definitely a hard and time consuming class. 2 group presentations, 4 cases. Can't miss a single class. Mr. Smith is very smart, but can also be rude at times. I suggest taking it with another professor, but if he is the only option, suck it up and take him. Got a B.
I don't know why there are so many positive remarks. He is not a very nice teacher. He is rude all the time. What he tells you to study for the quizzes is not on the quiz, but instead he pulls something out of nowhere that makes no sense. Grades are not fair. I've never met such a rude and disrespecting professor. His website is very disorganized.
DON'T TAKE HIM! He is very rude. He interrupts presentations frequently. He spends a lot of time talking about his life accomplishments instead of teaching. No textbook. Random quizzes. He grades on a curve.
Really good professor. I think people that call him rude are too sensitive. He's a business instructor what do you expect? Demanding class but rewarding and passable. He gives about 3 quizes (material is random), a written in class essay, and 4 case deliverable. Cases are prepared in groups that he puts together. He prepares you for the real world.
Great professor. Teaches well. Very honest- teaches you how to be an ethical and respectful perosn int he business world. Very wise.
Prof Wayne is the kind of teacher you want if you are in college because you actually want to learn. Somewhat tough grader and a lot of work during the week but he's really passionate about business and about the course. Do not take his class lightly; you will regret it come Midterms and Finals. Really nice guy too.
Probably one of the best professors i have had. He demands excellence from students, something that is lacking in most teachers. Don't take him if you want a feel good A or you have a hard time coming on time to class. late assignments, even by a couple minutes lose 50%.
Great instructor though somewhat overly thorough. Everything is mapped out for you in the course. You learn a lot of additional information and are given many additional resources. The assignments really prepare you for other classes including the technicals and you are guided toward differentiationg yourself from others. You learn a lot.
LOVE HIM! Not an easy class, but you will learn so much from him. If I didn't take his class, I would have never even read any of the HBR articles (which are extremely useful). He's awesome!
Great professor. Hard grader but just wants the best from his students. He was an IS major and transfer student at CSUN so we can relate...taking him for MGT 360 this summer too. Very consistent with being on time and ending class on time so show up on time!!! He takes away points if you're late/absent and don't pick up graded assignments!
He's the type of professor you will learn a lot from but he demands too much work from this class. I took him over the summer and he expects u to read 3-4 chapters/week with lots of articles. Don't EVER be late to his class because he takes off 50% assignments if u turn them in late or pick them up late. Participate and go to office hours!
Spends more time talking about his past experiences than teaching the class. You Need to be aware of his insecurities and try not to disrespect him. He feels very threatened by certain questions and chooses not to answer them. If you show up on time, do your case work correctly, you should at least get a B.
He was not helpful at his office hours
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. The negative comments are spot on. Professor Smith is rude, disrespectful, and very arrogant. I have never had a professor anywhere near are horrible as him, and to be honest I am shocked. STAY AWAY. Not a fair grader. Not a nice person
This professor is seriously amazing. . He is very specific with the assignments. His midterm and final are directly from the readings. Focus on vocab in the book. His articles are very interesting. He knows how to incorporate several methods and resources. Go to office hours he reviews your work and gives great advice esp about life. Very dedicated
Very caring person. Very smart and loves to help people. A wealth of knowledge. Really there for the students and takes teaching to another level. Very passionate about the world we live in and about effecting a positive change in it. Very clear about what he expects and fair. Very sincere towards people and really wants students to succeed.
Overall, he is a good teacher. His lectures are clear and helpful. Go to office hours really recommended. Read before class. Focus a lot on grammar. He takes off many points on grammar errors. You can lose more than half points of the assignment for a few grammar errors. By the way he is very rude.
He's actually a nice guy.
Although he is difficult and challenging at times, the knowledge you gain from this professor will last you a life time! He truly prepares you for the professional, business world. He pushes his students to be better. *KEY to his class besides the obvious- visit his office as often as possible, show initiative & it will make all the difference!
His exams are based from the readings, lecture notes, textbook, HBR, videos shown in class. I went to his office hours and he was helpful with real life but not with the home works. Make sure to double check your grammars because he grades heavily on those.
Pro tip: always attend class, do readings ahead of time, go to his office hours, work on your grammar( fo' real, Son. You'll get docked down.) If you don't do this, you'll have to take a long walk off a short pier.
This professor is absolutely amazing. You actually end up learning something. He is structured and the class is never confusing. He always has time to meet and help with students. You gotta meet him half way though, he will go above and beyond for you but if you are not committed then you won't really get anything out of this class.
Mr. Smith was the professor that changed my life. He is always available for questions and discussion. His personal time and energy is fully dedicated to his students only if you want to learn. His shadow will follow you everywhere you go and will help you succeed in life and be the best in the management field. Very professional and well respected
I would avoid this professor. He is unnecessarily disrespectful to students. I was actually surprised to see an instructor treat others so poorly. More people cried in this class than any other class I have ever taken, ever. Good Luck.
This was the most difficult class I have every had and he is not the best professor, BUT I will say this: You may not see it at first, but he really does care about his students. He is unclear most of the time, and makes the class feel uncomfortable. He interrupts students and other professors, but at the end of the day he does want us to succeed.
If you do all the readings and pay attention in class, you will do well in the course. All spot quizzes, tests, and papers are graded based on a curve. Also, Professor Smith is always available in his office as he wants to help all students to succeed. Bring your paper to him before it's due and he will go over it and give you feedback.
Don't take this class.
Really a grueling class to take. Hes not a bad teacher, but makes an easy class way too hard. Simple as that.
Each grammar mistake is -10% on papers. The pop quizzes are cumulative on everything ever mentioned in and out of class. These also include that days lecture (the stuff you have not learned yet, Be prepared). There are no study guides for tests. Students are chosen at random to read their written papers in front of 150 people. Avoid at all costs!
You can see his passion for management by the way he lectures in class. He makes an easy class hard but its fair. You can fail an assignment and still get a C because he says its "average", which I dont understand because if the students are realistically failing the assignment then how is that "average"? That means they arent passing. Huge curve
This class is all group projects and pop quizzes. Follow his instructions exactly! He seriously docks points for page length, grammar, and content. Don't ever miss class. You will probably have a pop quiz. This goes for all of his classes. Your in-class work has a huge influence on overall grade.
People giving him low scores complain that the class is hard and that he takes is a tough grader. So in other words: you don't try hard, then you blame him? One of the only professors who TRULY & ACTIVELY wants his students to succeed. He is pushing us all to be our best. Don't see that? Your loss. Huge asset to my academic and professional career!
Okay the topic is super interesting, but you have to understand that you need quality of information, not quantity. 2-3 chapters from one class to the next is way too much, not even a Summer semester. He pretends to care about people but he is very subjective, he shuts people up rudely even those who have genius interest and questions about the cla
Gandalf said it best. Run , you fools
Amazingly passionate teacher in the topics he discusses. He is by far my favorite professor, but beware that he is a tough grader and professor. If you are not a serious business major do not take him as you will hate the time you spend with in lectures. He requires that you give the most respect to everyone although he doesnt give you any.
not a nice person, everyone study business major in csun knows him, nobody likes go to his class, i went to his class because i was later enrolling the class . dont take this class, you will have to spend too much time on this 300 level - no sense class.
He teaches things that will help the rest of your life. He truly cares and is willing to meet at his office if he sees effort. Good writing skills are a must. Pop quizzes on everything lecture, book, and supplemental readings; read before class. Use Wiley flashcards for the book part. Midterm and final are multiple-choice; final not cumulative.
Wayne Smith is very smart and has a passion for teaching students. However, his class has been one of the most difficult one I have ever taken. He is very strict upon class presentations and will criticize you on the spot. Never ever say the phrase, "You Guys". Pop quizzes will be given so be prepared for every class, if not your grade will suffer
The class material is very useful for everyday life for all people and seemed very easy to comprehend. However, Wayne Smith definitely made this class much harder than it had to be. You will have to read the textbook and supplemental readings that will cause you much pain if you don't keep up with the class weekly. Easy class with hard professor!
Great teacher. Very inspirational. Listen carefully to everything he says in his lectures because it is all very important. Even if it won't be on the exam, he shares interesting real-life situations that will help you in the real world.
Professor Smith is by far the best instructor I have come across while at CSUN. Read all assignments and supplementals, stay on top of all tasks, plan ahead, always be prepared for pop quizzes, and buy a grammar book that will help with your writing skills. MGT 360 was hard work, but it made me fall in love with my major! Awesome teacher, take him!
Mr. Smith is a unique individual, he understands what it's like to come from an underprivileged background. He knows the struggle of making it on your own and for that he tries his best to help his students. If you have the opportunity to take his class please do it! Just know you have to be driven to get an A! if you get a bad team take the lead!
He makes this class unnecessarily stressful. The grading was ridiculous. He's often rude, condescending, and puts you on the spot. I have never reviewed a professor but felt the need to this time.
AVOID HIM LIKE THE PLAGUE. AVOID AT ALL COST. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He does not understand that we have other classes besides his. Requires too much work and rudely interrupts during presentations. If YOU want to save your GPA and your social life, DO NOT TAKE HIM. PLEASE I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Worst professor at CSUN. Is constantly rude and disrespectful towards students. Tries to teach an english class. 10% markdown for EVERY writing error. 50 % for lateness , regardless reason or length. No make ups whatsoever. Harasses students in class, doesn't like to be approached after class. For your own sake, choose another professor.
RUN AWAY! He only talks about his irrelevant life accomplishments and he will deduct points for every little thing. Do yourself a favor and RUN AWAY. Do NOT register for this class.
SCARIEST CLASS EVER!!!! Unexpected unnecessary pop quizzes and essay questions before lecturing. Unexpected stress. He deducts points for every little thing. I am a B+ A student but there was no way I could get a C in his class with all his stupid rules. I dropped him. PLEASE DONT TAKE HIM. This class is a nightmare.!!!! Stay away from this guy!
Curves all his assignments and tests, it's just a lot of material that he covers. I'm not sure how I got an A on his first exam, I barley read. There are a lot of supplemental materials, too many and he does test you on them. Try to read for those pop quizzes the points add up in the end. He has a good way of teaching, passionate and informative
Lots of reading & gives pop quizzes on the material. Encourages us to come to his office hours when needed but when I went, he was rushing, kind of rude & seemed unwilling to help. Made me not want to contact him again. MGT majors: hard grading so it's gonna be a stressful pre/co-requisite if your next semester depends on this class.
This man is a loner but a great professor knows his stuff and teaches great material... very very awkward and weird man. Other than that this guy is seriously one of the most knowledgable prof ever. Not a businessman or risk-taker, just more of a support geek for businesses. This guy will give u a reality check at COBAE. Take him if u have cohones
I took him a few semesters ago, passed the class with a B+. However, he is one of the worst teachers I've ever had in my college life. I don't get why he gives you 3-4 chapters for one week assignment. It makes it hard especially if you work and go to school full time. He shames people when ask questions and makes the topic way more complicated.
There is a big difference in quantity of information and quality. He is all about giving you a bunch of articles and handouts to read that honestly make all the same point. I am all about quality of information because that is what sticks to you for the rest of your life. His class doesn't inspire, you just worry about reading like a machine.
Great guy, makes you work hard for your grade, but if you put in the time and dedication, you will take away so much from this class. You need to be a strong writer in business and he helps you develop that skill set, as well as a number of soft skills to deal with people. He is pretty difficult, but equally fair. It is not impossible to get an A.
This dude shouts out while you are presenting. He would literally make you cry during the presentation. This guy have you write 30 page report. Who the hell has this kind of time while taking other classes. DO NOT TAKE HIM??????? YOU HEAR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very rude and will interrupt you during your presentation. Assigns 30 page group assignments and supplemental readings every week. Does not take into consideration of students having other classes with other hw to do. Went to office hours and didn't really answer my questions and felt rushed. Would not recommend.
This class is less about the professor and more about the students ability to function at a high level within a group for the entirety of the semester. With that said, Professor Smith was always available for our group and helpful. There are unannounced quizzes, just take note of the pattern and keep up to date with the information on his web page.
He is a tough professor but doesn't mind helping you along the way. This class is structured around group work, he has groups assigned by the 2 second class meeting. Gives 20-30 page case reports but its simple if your whole group contributes. Don't avoid taking him just because of the reviews, he is very devoted to your success.
Dr. Smith is a tough teacher but this is college. He cares deeply that all of his students actually learn useful skills needed to be great managers. Do: READ ALL ASSIGNED READINGS BEFORE CLASS; Have ALL papers checked for grammar and spelling errors before submitting, visit office hours Do Not: be late, interrupt class/be on your phone, slack off
Hes always willing to help students. Takes 10% off for each grammar error on papers. Takes 50% off paper if u are 1 min late to class. Takes attendance by passing back graded work, if youre not there to pick it up, minus 10% off grade. Assigns 1-2 chapters AND 2-3 articles per class, then gives u a pop quiz on each. Made a very easy subject torture
He is stupid man because he likes to torture students I don't know why? Stress is result of this class and he is very confusing ....
I don't know why CSUN business department keeps this man . if you participate in his class you will become sick . his management class is the same of BUS 302. I wish one day csun kick off this man because he is not deserve to become professor.
I think this man has mental problem because his behavior is not normal. His goal is failing or torture students than teaching. I hate this man any my grade for him is ZERO. Please looking for other professors.
Professor is helpful and care about CSUN alot. This class is not for slackers or people who often miss class. He makes you work for it but is preparing you for a career. If you go to his office hours he will help you. He does not require a textbook. The class is aimed more for people who want great careers.
I don't think I've ever actually disliked a teacher for his/her personality like this before. There's a point where he gives valuable advice, and then there's gloating. Wayne gloats about himself. All grades are final, though opportunities to earn points back are given. Write neatly, he will 0 your paper for legibility. Write really, REALLY well.
Professor Smith was one of the hardest, and most demanding professors I've ever had. He pushes you to rise up, and develop your skills. If you put in the work you will be way ahead of everyone else who chose not to take him for gateway. His accessibility, and his advocacy for students, makes Professor Smiths a gem at CSUN. Oh, and read ahead!
Dr. Smith can be very arrogant to some people but he has good intentions. He teaches a true level 300 class and cares about the students. His midterm and final aren't too difficult. He may grade papers strictly but it's for your own good, after all, this is college. Just work hard, TAKE NOTES, study, and you will do well. I'm glad I took his class.
Professor Smith genuinely cares about his students. He offers an immense amount of knowledge and experience to help guide and develop young professionals. He also offers a lot of external resources to supplement the course materials.
This professor is to taken by those who want to excel in business. He expects the best from you since he views you as a professional, rather than telling you what to do he lets you learn by experiencing it. You will be working in groups so some strain is lifted. Don't procrastinate and coordinate well with you team. Do this and you will succeed.
Professor Smith is not for everyone, but for those who enjoy being challenged and wish to succeed I recommend taking his course. He will push you to do your best and that's why he's a "tough grader." If you work hard and are patient, you will pass. Attendance is mandatory so you can pass the quizzes. See him during his office hours for any help.
One of the worst professors at CSUN. This professor should not be teaching at any school. I am an A student and I received a D. I was constantly in his office hours asking for help. A lot more cases to do then all the other professors give for gateway. He is arrogant and will call you out on purpose to embarress you in front of the class.
He's just not interested in making this course enjoyable. His ego is disgusting too. Literally gloats in class like we care. He constantly talks over students when he asks them to answer something or comment on. Just absolutely repulsive teaching.
He's a VERRRRRRRRRRRY hard grader, if you miss a quiz it can dock you almost a whole letter grade. 99.89% CHANCE YOU WILL NOOOOOT GET AN A, no matter what you do. He repeats jokes, so prepare to fake laugh... A lot :). Run away, far away from this class if you can.
The reading for this class is just ridiculous. Not only does he assign 2-3 chapters of reading- he assigns 2-5 articles on top of that. Hard grader on essays. 3 essays. Midterm and Final. And MANY pop quizzes. If you don't do the reading you'll be very lost, and do poorly on the pop quizzes. The only good thing is that he curves EVERYTHING.
Quiz tip: If you don't know how to answer a question, don't leave it blank! Write something, anything. He'll give you some partial credit for it and that can give you a leg up for the curve. Good luck :/
Consider that the course is difficult no matter who you take for bus302 You do not get to choose your team so setting your team meetings are difficult Study the readings for the quizzes they also include simple English, math and excel questions GET YOUR TEAM ON TRACK FAST YOU WILL PASS NO PROBLEM- ON written deliverables and two oral presentation
Incredible professor! Yeah, he's tough when it comes to papers and has pop quizzes (we had 3), but he gives a lot of context clues in multiple choice exams and is generous when grading the quizzes. He is CLEARLY passionate (full-body laughs), and genuinely cares about students. Take for management, but avoid gateway with Smith.
Smith is a great professor, you can tell he's passionate about what he teaches. However, his teaching style doesn't appeal to all. There are 3 essays, a midterm, and a final. He's a tough grader, especially in relation to grammar and writing. I wouldn't recommend him to any ESL students or weak writers. Expect a few pop quizzes, DO THE READING!
Professor Wayne is a good teacher, but makes you earn your grade. If writing paper isn't your strength don't take this class deducts 10% per error found on a paper. Tests aren't too bad.
Professor Smith is one of the best professors that I've met. I took his management 360 class and I was always nervous to go to class or to talk to him because of his charisma that overwhelms you. But he is a very fun, cool, and intelligent business professor that has so much experience and stories to tell you. He is VERY confident in the students.
This man is an inspiration. He really knows how to teach, and how to help his students. He takes the time to really talk with his students and focus on their problems with any and all papers. He even will publically cry for his students. He will devote himself to you both mentally, and emotionally. also a bonus if you are in IS.
this dude is pretty chill. He knows what's up, and knows what students need. The dude is totally down to help out students. He's always there for office hours and really chill about writing. Always there to help. Take him, it will be one hell of an experience! :)
absolute amazing teacher. truly cares about the students. extremely smart in his field. This isn't just a class to take for a major, this is a class to prepare you for a career. Worth taking 100%
Very good class but you have to work for your grade and participate for extra points
This is a perfect example of someone who takes the class wayyyyyy too seriously. He'll ask a student to talk about their homework assignment, and then quiz a week later on what that student talked about. He'll also take 20% off your paper for grammar mistakes. I feel like I've learned absolutely nothing at all. 10/10 would not recommend.
Prof. Smith is very knowledgeable. He shares very interesting supplemental materials. Be ready to read, study, and memorize. Quizzes are tough. You need to memorize definitions and know how to apply them in sentences. He is very kind and caring. He uses positive and negative reinforcements to help students learn and be motivated. Highly recommended
He considers everyone adults and expect everyone to behave as such. Homework and attending classes matter a lot to him. If you don't, you get points deducted. Who is willing to put the work will learn a lot from his class. He bought gift cards for best students, and bought lunch for the whole class after final. What other professor does that???
Professor Smith is wonderful professor. The assignments are not hard, but they are time consuming. He does allow opportunities to regain points on written assignments, so take advantage of this if you need it. Quizzes are heavily based on readings and lectures. He does expect a lot, but gives more than enough support. I recommend this professor.
Nothing but great things to say about this professor. If you want to learn, take this professor. If you listen to the lectures you realize that Prof. Smith actually has some important things to say that I would honestly say are still benefiting me to this day. I learned a lot. MUST READ
302 is a very difficult course no matter who you take it with. Professor Smith makes it exponentially harder. Do anything to avoid his sections. Even if that means adding a semester. Trust.
i will never take his class ever again, MGT 360 is already a hard class, and by using his "own designed " homepage , which every materials you need is rely on it , make your study harder. it takes you forever to get the information you need, un clear instructing and its almost impossible to get into "school libirary database." such old ineffective
I feel as though this professor did not respect the effort I put into my work. I do not recommend taking this professor for any class.
MGT360 is a difficult course. Prof Smith does an excellent job of supplementing the course with actual news events where one is able to draw connections from concepts in the text. Wayne Smith is a professor who is truly in the your corner. He is responsive in emails, and will make the time for his student. Make time for this class!
This is one of the classes I had to work hard for. Dr. smith is not easy at all but he gives you a lot of helpful information and refer his stories to live events. I enjoyed the lectures but I had to ready daily. There are a lot to read. His quizzes are mostly from the lectures and supplements.
Wayne Smith by far has been my favorite professor at CSUN, his lectures are interesting and he makes it entertaining. Wayne Smith has motivated me to do better in school because of his lectures. He wants the best for all of his students and tries his best to help his students. You have to put an effort in his class, make sure to read weekly to pass.
This class IS SO CONFUSING. If you are a busy person and enjoy a straight-forward course that you do not have to spend ridiculous amounts of time figuring out DON'T TAKE HIM. He makes me so upset, he literally fails your assignment if you're even a second late. Mr. Smith many of us have life obligations and are doing our best to get a degree. :(
Honestly he is the worst professor. He takes off 5 points off an assignment for every grammatical and spelling error, which means if you miss use a comma or spell a word wrong 4 times the highest grade you can get is an 80/100. This is on in class hand written, writing assignments too. Save yourself, don't take this class.
His class was a challenge but that's why it was the best. All of the material and strict attendance policies is all in the name of preparing the students for the real world and guess what: it's tough and mean. Everything the Dr. Smith taught is of great benefit. Lots of reading but well worth it and I'm a slow reader, too.
I don't recommend this professor. He was the worst professor I have had in 4 semesters studying at CSUN. If you have other options, don't take him. There is too much work to do and too little to learn. I just attended his classes so I did not miss the pop-quizzes and submit my papers. He spends a good deal of class time talking about himself.
Although I did learn a lot in this class, I must say it was one of the most confusing and stressful classes I have ever had at CSUN. Everything is all over the place and definitely needs organization. Also, the professor is nice but a bit intimidating. He isn't much of a tough grader though, so if you enjoy a challenge this class could be for you
Professor Smith is a true professional. If you are a serious MGT major, then you should take him. He is a tough professor but he is very passionate about the subject and very knowledgeable. We had 2 midterms & 1 final (noncumulative) and group work. Reading is a must; pop quizzes are given based on the reading material. Highly recommend !
Professor Smith is a complex professors, he definitely keeps you on your toes for the entire semester. You MUST attend his class because you will either turn something in, get a pop quiz, or get an assignment back; lose points if you don't show. Always stay up to date with his website, it's irritating to navigate but it always somehow saved me.
If you like your professor to cry while lecturing several times throughout the semester, go ahead and take him.
Hardest class I have ever taken, not impossible though. He has detailed instructions on everything on his website. Just need to read these instructions and LISTEN in class. Can't space out in lectures for a few minutes because you might miss something for the next pop quiz. He cares for his students, randomly cries during lectures.
This man is utterly rude and egotistical, he makes an entry level course, MGT 360, unnecessarily excruciating... I mean the difficulty level and barriers he sets are off the charts. Oh yeah, avoid his office hours, he'll pretty much just shoo you away. Save yourself the trouble and take it with anyone else.
He is a rigorous grader, but he cares so much about his students. Complex cases where you & your team write more than 20 pages. He will call you out and tell you to explain/clarify during your presentation if you did something wrong. Random pop quizzes. Toughest class I ever took (spring sem). Would take again because I learned so much from him.
Prof. Smith is a very tough grader. He makes the class very stressful. He takes off points for every grammatical error on your papers. He gives pop quizzes which are based on the lecture, book, powerpoint presentations, and videos. If you need help don't bother to go to his office, he is very rude and not helpful. Take someone else!
WORSE PROFESSOR EVER. Do not take him for business gateway. He will interrupt you so much during your presentations. Unacceptable. So much group work which is not bad at all. Cries a lot during lectures. Really strict when it comes to not bringing the name tags he gives you. BE AWARE. Do not take him!!! Trust me.
Easily my favorite professor at CSUN. Incredibly clear in his expectations, for both in-class and assignments. Posts detailed rubrics and instructions with no ambiguity. Respects critical thought and attention to detail. He is not a personable professor, so if youre looking for acknowledgement, look elsewhere. You will learn a lot from Prof. Smith
Terrible professor do not take
Difficult class but doable. He curves every test/quiz and everyone does bad so it helps a lot. Marks off heavily for grammar mistakes on assignments. Always get to class on time bc you will either turn something in or pick something up. If you're not there on time, it will affect your attendance. I never read the book but managed a B.
this class was whack
This class, work-wise, was fine. What was aggravating was the immense amount of points he takes off of writing assignment for small grammatical and syntax errors. 10% PER mistake. Another thing was that he cried at least once per class and would continue his lecture like nothing happened. Seemingly inappropriate for a MGT class...
I honestly thought Professor Smith was not that bad. He laid out what you need to do to pass from the first day on his website outline. Just do the work or even skim the assigned chapters and articles before the class, you'll be prepared for any pop quizzes (Usually 4). I barely did any work and I got a B+ so its doable. He curves extremely well!!!
Participation 13%, 3-4 Pop Quizzes, 3 papers, 2 Exams each 29%. Was the most enjoyable lecture, he knows what he's talking about. He's a tough grader on papers, less on pop quizzes, but everything is curved. Skim through all articles and chapters given. Attend class to pass pop quizzes. Don't be late when turning in a paper, it's 50% off.
Take him if you want to learn something for life. He treats all students as adults not as a high school kids, so be prepared for work.
One of the worst professors Ive had at csun, shouldnt even be allowed to teach. Avoid this professor at all cost. Requires way to much homework and gives out pop quizzes at the end of class so dont even think about leaving halfway.
Professor Wayne Smith is a great professor. If you struggle in the first few assignments go and see him and ask for help. He is very knowledgeable on management and only wants to share that knowledge with his students. Read all his articles and attend all his classes and pay attention because his pop-quizzes are about he talks about during class.
Worst professor ever, he treats the class like it is grad school or some s**t. Sometimes he cries during lectures for no damn reason. Professor deducts 10% every error from your paper and deducts 50% if you are late to class when turning the paper. He is confusing because sometimes he can be funny and then be serious. Please avoid this professor!
James Charles is more tolerable than this professor
3 papers, midterm, and final, but also chapter/article readings, small hw/in-class assignments, & pop quizzes. Grades on a curve, but extremely strict grader. Deducts 50% points from late work even if it's one minute late, 10% per grammatical error, etc. Most arrogant and self-inflated professor ever met. Loves to talk about himself all the time!
Professor Smith is an odd man. His class is very hard, BUT he does genuinely care about his students. He cries in class often and it is hard not to laugh. You get put into a group of about 6 people (you don't get to choose) and then you have to work with them to write 20 page papers every few weeks. He curves
Professor Smith is a great person that cares for his students. The class was hard so make sure you attend. The class consists of three unannounced quizzes that is based off from the lectures and the assigned work. Make sure you attend and right notes. Something helpful is that Prof. Smith curves a lot!
A lot of reading assignments. Do not be late or you lose points. Strict grading on assignments. Overall good teacher, you will learn a lot. You have to work for your grade and read all assigned reading and textbook material. Grades on a curve
Take his class if you are willing to put in time and effort for your grade. Read all the articles and chapters he assigns, pay attention and take notes in class because his quizzes are based on all of those things. He is extremely strict with even the slightest error on a paper you turn in so don't forget those commas. Utilize his office hours!
He isn't as bad as some people are making I'm out to be. He does really care about his students and wants you to succeed. There are 4/5 cases, and one of them you present. If you listen to his instructions and the information he provides for each case, you'll be fine. He is a hard grader. My team and I got around 60% on some cases. He curves a lot.
If you think management is an easy course, think again. Professor Smith makes you work hard for your grade. He is very knowledgeable and cares for his students. Go to his office hours if you see yourself struggling. He is a tough grader when it comes to grammatical errors. He lays out exactly what he wants for his assignments.
Professor Wayne Smith is my favorite professor in the whole wide world. Is his class easy? Heck no. But it is perfect for someone who is hungry to succeed and eager to learn something valuable. Professor Smith is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. Go to his office hours. He is always happy to provide great advice!
Prof. Smith isn't nearly as bad as people say. He really cares about his students' success and wants us to learn. You won't regret taking his class, I promise. BUS 302 is a hard class in general, but you learn and grow a lot. If you're a good writer and comfortable presenting in front of the class, this class will be a breeze. Take him!!
Not an easy class AT ALL. A lot of homework, papers and readings. You'll work in groups all semester long. 2 group presentations about 30-50 slides each- 30 min length. You have to know your material or he will blast you. Not so bad, but i wouldn't take him again. Heavy lectures, hard quizzes, no final, no midterm, ethics essay only.
Professor Smith is a really tough grader, but he truly cares that his students understand what we need to. He is picky with points and takes off points for very small mistakes, but he curves and awards points based on your effort. If he sees you caring about the class and the material, as long as you do good work, you will be fine!
The whole semester you work with a group you don't choose so get used it, you're going to have to meet-up regularly more than any class. He's definitely a character, if you're there to pass, you're going to have to work for it. Tough grader, the only homework is the cases. Concepts get easier over the semester since you're doing the same projects.
He has a mental problem and his behavior is abnormal. Very hard grader and he likes to fail a student because he has had a bad experience in his life. He is insane... don't take his class. CSUN wasting time
Dont take him if you're not willing to put in the time. He will fail you if you dont
Avoid him. He makes an enjoyable course miserable.
Professor Smith is a great resource and I learned an extensive amount of managerial duties through his lecture. He provided a lot of personal examples and insight. Pop quizzes are slightly hard, just make sure you do your reading. Group projects are fairly easy and fun. Has reflection papers, make sure you have proper grammar.
Worst professor ever. Trust me don't take him. He clearly doesn't know how to structure a class, instead he will burn you out with a heavy work load. I assume he's a loner and does not have any idea about a hectic schedule of an employed full time student . Especially If you're an ESL student avoid this class it will be a waste of time and money.
Mr. Smith is the worst teacher I've had since going to college. He tends to make rather odd and uncomfortable comments to the women in the class. He will grade you on things that were not talked about at all. He will give you a paper and say to use the method discussed in class but a method was never discussed. Sucks that this class is mandatory.
I really liked professor smith and unfortunately I've never met him in person but you can tell he really cares about his students. I feel like students underestimate his teaching because it's his first time teaching through Zoom. One thing I will say is that some of his comments are uncalled for and may come off as insulting.
I took 17 units and still managed well in this class. Make ur life simple. Download P-Schedule and be on top of everything. If one can get an A then so can you! Double check grammar ALWAYS, this is your chance to lead your team to success or failure, work hard for the A and youll get it! Make sure your team has the same mindset as you!! Believe!!
SKIP this professor IF you're not prepared to spend a lot of time reading for this class. He will make MGT 370 a horrible experience by burning you out with homework and readings every class. Beware pop quizzes. Likes to say snarky comments to students
Professor Wayne cares about his students. He treats us like adults. He has high expectations but he takes the time to explain what he wants. Between 3-4 pop quizzes for the semester. As long as youve done your readings for the week, you should be set. 1 large group project. Make sure you hold your team accountable or it could cost you your A.
Took it while COVID pandemic. Assignees you to read wall street journal articles twice a week, give you chapters from textbooks, has random pop up quizzes on those articles. As long as you show him you do your work you will pass. Had a 30-40 page paper due towards the end of class, he had us analyze a firm in a group.
He gets mad/rude for the slightest things and will make it obvious. At times would force for participation. He will give random quizzes, many articles to read, makes you read the text book, and a final 30pg-50pg analysis to do with a group he choses based on GPA. Class can be very stressful with the unnecessary workload....
Great professor, took online summer session. Book found online PDF. 3-4 pop quizzes but are easily anticipated. Midterm. Final. (Based on the book chs) Participation +. Group 30-40 pg analysis (fairly easy) and presentation. Groups are made based off GPA (works out), just do your reading and you'll be fine. Wants students to succeed. A+ overall
He GENUINELY cares about your success. HOWEVER, there is a lot to read. He often picks randomly and asks you to summarize the chapter and/or journal articles in class. HE ALSO POPS QUIZZES. Know the readings inside and out BEFORE class. Youll fail otherwise. Hes REALLY GOOD. But YOUR work ethic might be the difference between pass or fail.
Prof Smith is genuinely a nice person, and his class wasn't the worst. He does assign a lot of readings every week, and he does expect students to participate and discuss the readings, but most of the concepts we learned were quite interesting and relevant. No quizzes, except for the midterm and exam. & a group project. Overall was a good class!
The worst class I ever had. If you plan to fail the course, take him, he's so rude, he's so unprofessional and put a lot of stress on you
He stresses out the students, and He makes me hate my major. He is insulting and moody.
The worst professor I ever had, please don't risk your career.
Avoid him at all cost! He is definitely one of the worst humans at CSUN. He has mental problem and all time his behavior is not normal like other people. Get ready to read ridicules' materials that even not useful in your entire life. HARD GRADER, BAD CHARACTER, LOW CLASS GUY! If you like your GPA don't take this class.
They are one of the worst professors I've had at the Csun, shouldn't even be allowed to teach. Avoid this professor at all costs. Requires way too much homework and gives out pop quizzes at the end of class, so don't even think about leaving halfway.
One of the best Professors at CSUN. The class is quizzes, individual/group work, and participation. If you participate and show your dedication, you will pass. Go to office hours; he will appreciate it! I highly recommend Professor Smith. He may be challenging, but he wants you to learn. I am taking him for capstone in Spring!
The class is all about the group projects. If you can get that part right you will be fine. He throws in pop quizzes that are predictable and cares about if you do the group work or not.
Compared to other Bus302 Profs, he isn't that bad. In the beginning for the 1st case, you will be stressed and anxious b/c the directions will not be clear on what to do. Ask him as many questions as possible for the first case. His materials are also all over the place. Also use YT to figure out the statistics parts. He is really caring though. GL
The same people who want an easy A are the same people claiming CSUN didn't teach them anything. Yeah, he can seem impatient at times, but he does care about your success. He pushes you to be better as a business professional. Some people are just too soft for his class. - 2 exams - 1 group paper/presentation - The rest are smaller assignments
Very moody and his instructions are not clear at all. He has at times said I do not know when asked questions about projects or flat out just gives the wrong answer. He is also very rude to students. I highly recommend you do not take any class with him. I will be avoiding him for the rest of my time at csun.
He assigns your group for the whole semester, there is a lot of work and reading in this class, individual and group. His instructions are not clear at all so ask any questions that ever come to mind! I definitely put more time in this class than expected to make sure I passed.
4 group papers and 3 pop quizes throughout the year based on his material. He is very sincere and wants to help the world be a better place by teaching. He is a tough grader and groups are assigned randomly at the beginning of the semester. One of the papers will be a not so bad group presentation.Grade depends on how group papers/presentation are.
Not my favorite class or professor at CSUN. Although I could tell he cares about your success, he comes off rude at times. 25 page paper and 40 minute presentation all in a group. You also have to read a lot of articles through the week for the pop quizzes.
Hes not as bad as the people say. Hes definitely a tough grader but his curves a very generous. He assigns a lot of readings but you can manage. Participation is not 100% required but it helps with your overall grade. I took this course in the summer and am managing to stay above water. Dont drop if you end up taking the course. You will pass.
I was looking forward to this class at the beginning of the semester BUT three to four weeks into the semester Professor Wayne started showing his true colors. Tests are open book but he's a tough grader on reports. Will take off MASSIVE points for spelling and grammar (mainly punctuation).Overbearing. Reminded me of my Boss and not in a good way.
Listen! If you are looking for an easy semester, do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HIM. Overall he is not a bad person but he takes a lot of points off for small mistakes. There are 3-4 unannounced quizzes. 5 group projects and you have to present one of them for 40 minutes and he will choose another group again unannounced to ask questions.
Do yourself a favor and do not take this awful professor. He is a Mess. He doesn't deserve to be a Professor. All bad ratings here are accurate and true. Trust this bad Ratings.
He enjoys fail students. He is an abnormal professor. Do not take this Professor. Avoid this professor at any costs.
Professor Smith genuinely cares about the success of his students. However, at times, he comes across as judgmental, impatient, and flat-out rude. He has good days and bad days. Make sure to set ground rules and expectations for your group in the beginning of the semester, especially if you are wanting an A. Doable class but stressful. Good luck!
He talks about useless information for most of the class time. His intructions are never clear and my group and I found ourselves trying to figure out what to do. He has a very unappealing website that is very confusing to use, instead of using canvas. Make sure to do well on pop quizzes bc that is what makes up most of your grade.
Smith is very emotional, be prepared for him to go off tangent and begin to cry. He takes off -5 pts for each grammar mistake and removes pts for not picking up past assignments. He assigns teams, so make sure you set your expectations. Participate, engage and communicate. There is better.
I got a B in this class not b/c I didn't absorb material but b/c this professor thinks punctuation&grammar are more important than comprehension. He'd put 100% on my papers &then say 10% off for each apostrophe or comma that was added or not added correctly. Doesn't use canvas. Brags about himself and thinks only his class matters & nothing else.
Professor Smith truly cares for his students and holds them to a high standard. Beware of pop quizzes as they will most likely determine your grade in the end as well as the group projects. His lectures can be boring as he tends to cry but if you participate he will respect you. Get to know your group well and you will be ok.
MGMT 340 Professor Smith is a really good professor that cares for his students, treats them fairly, and expects them to get work done, if you don't put effort and procrastinate there is a guarantee you won't pass. He expects students to know the concept of the material, etc. You really need good discipline and work ethic in order to pass.
It is hard to get a decent grade when he takes off 5 points for every spelling/grammar/formatting/punctuation error. He gets off-topic & emotional during his lectures. If you appear to not be paying attention or look at your phone, he will yell in front of the entire class. He is extreme with either being very nice or being very rude & belittling.
SAVE YOURSELF
Worst professor to take for bus 302. Save yourself the trouble and find someone better. He cries every class, is extremely emotional and is not very helpful when asked questions. He assigns lots of group work and grades very harshly. There are 3 pop quizzes, 4 group case briefs + 4 excel spreadsheets, 2 personal reflections and 1 ethical essay.
Just don't. Lots of group projects with one grade for all members. Cries when he drones on during lectures. Largely marks assignments down for insignificant grammar/spelling errors. Cuts you off if you inquire about grading. Brags about himself. doesn't use Canvas and expects his class to be treated like your only. From an A student, just don't.
DONT TAKE HIM He's honestly a very knowledgeable person but everything said during class useless for the actual course. Attendance is not mandatory. He has random and vague pop quizzes. He does not use canvas at all so you won't know your grade the whole semester. He's harsh during presentation and cares more about grammar when grading. AVOID HIM
If you can avoid this professor, I would highly recommend you do. He is super confusing on how he grades our reports and when we ask him questions it feels like he belittles us. He gives vague feedback to our papers so its hard to improve from the last one.
the worst professor ever had. Very moody and will either laugh or be very rude to students. Condescending as well. Show up to his office hours and he is not there, will dock off point for the smallest mistakes and doesn't provide help. Gives pop quizzes on things never shown to us and repeatedly brags about himself and his successes.
Professor Smith displayed narcissistic behavior, creating a disrespectful atmosphere. Exams diverged from class material, disadvantaging students. Publicly criticizing a student during presentations showcased the lack of empathy. Consider other options for a better learning environment.
Would not recommend this professor. From what I've heard, any other professor is better than this one. Save your time and enroll with another professor for BUS 302.
After reading the reviews on RMP I was a little hesitant to take this class but it was the only one that fit with my schedule. If you put in work you'll be fine but be prepared for the most random and boring lectures ever. Workload is time consuming and his grading is confusing but everything is curved which is an advantage if you do well.
This professor has super high expectations, hard material, tons of readings, pop quizzes and dramatic. He cut someone off during their presentation and said "next person". He doesn't answer his emails and doesn't let you know what your grade is for most of the class. He cries during lectures too? You have been warned.
If you read prior to class, you will do good on pop quizzes. Read all pdfs on his website, participate & book a writing center appt. prior to turning in assignments. He values his students and aims to enhance their academic skills by setting high standards. Memorize presentations & avoid saying "you guys". I loved technology after this class.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He doesn't use canvas you will not know your grade majority of the class.
Professor Smith runs his class like "the good old days." Requires you to turn your hat backwards or take it off. Any questions during the semester? "Go look at the syllabus." Interrupting speakers during presentations is normal. End of semester written assignment and presentation within groups or 6-7. Extremely difficult & outdated guidelines.
Horrible Class. Please do not take this professor. Students are discouraged from asking questions, the environment is not conductive to learning due to sudden emotional outbursts (crying/ anger), and the grading system doesn't fairly assess individual contributions as you are judged based on your entire teams performance and not personal work.
To keep it short: lots of pop quizzes, lectures were not very engaging, tough grader (ex.deducts 10 points for every grammar error), doesn't put grades into canvas so you won't know your current grade until a week before the midterm and then a week before the final. One group project/presentation that you had to pretty much figure out on your own.
Is the the type of professor that has extremely high expectations for his students but he genuinely cares about his students succeeding. He has pop quizzes, and one group presentation and couple group projects. This class will either make or break you depending on the group that you get assigned. He doesn't post grades onto canvas btw. Emotional af
Professor has mental issues, you never know what needs to be done, he is too old and retired, but keeps teaching for some reason. you must stay away at all cost. randomly cries in the class and 80% of the class time is dedicated for external non sense material. Take my advice and do not take him. You will thank me later!!!
I took him for both mgt 340 and bus 302. I would avoid this guy at all cost, he's just weird and growled at me when I was packing up my bag before I turned in my midterm. He's not a difficult prof if you do the readings before class and he curves like crazy. I got an A both times but was so uncomfortable every time I had class. AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN
Professor was not as nad as everyone said the class was definitely not easy but it was not awfully difficult. As long as you do the reading and pay attention in class the pop quizes should be fine.
I think a lot of people take this professor the wrong way. He's incredibly caring and REALLY wants his students to succeed, his entire teaching philosophy is behind that. His class is not difficult. I will say he can be very short tempered to students sometimes and interrupts quite often which becomes really frustrating, even during presentations.
The presentations are not posted so you need to take notes in class. Tests and pop quizzes are based off of the reading, so READ THE BOOK. Other than that there were barely any assignments and the class was not too heavy.
Professor can be a bit erratic, but if you stay engaged and use tools like unstuckstudy ai and the textbook, you can get through this class. The workload is time-consuming, but the curve helps if you put in the effort.
I am currently in this course and just want to say to STAY AWAY. This class is hell, his lectures are hell,, his attitude is hell. One of the worst professors Ive had. Thinks he knows it all, all tests on paper and pen, pop quizzes, groups projects, just hell. Do not take any course with this professor, please take my advice.
Pop quizzes, 1 group project. His lectures are boring and gets off topic quickly. His midterm and final are based on textbook which you have to read on your own because he rarely teaches anything. Avoid him if you can!!!
His class is not bad and cares for his student's success (even if it doesn't seem that way). Has various pop quizzes throughout the semester, so keep up with reading the textbook/articles. He assigns groups for group projects early on in the semester which allows for working on it at a good pace. Just listen to his ground rules and it's pretty easy
Overall, BUS 312 wasn't too bad with Professor Smith. From day one, be sure to do your readings––there's a few pop quizzes throughout the semester and a large group project near the end. As long as you end up with a good group, this class should not be a problem. Be sure to participate in class and do the readings ahead of time.
Avoid him if you can. 1 group project that goes on for half the semester. POP QUIZZES on the library articles and textbook. Talks too much. Midterm is on the first half of the textbook and final on the other half. You get credit to go up and talk about the article given for that day, and if no one goes up he will call on someone.
This class is really easy to pass. One big project that will depend on your group but hes a lenient grader on that project. He doesnt go over the textbook, but the exams will be solely from the textbook. Honestly his class is really easy. Read the textbook and its an easy A, his curved are also huge. People dont pass his class cuz they dont try lol
Horrible professor. Tough grader and does not use canvas so ur literally never gonna know ur grade in the class. He uses a grade sheet where he inputs your grades. Throughout the semester he would give updates on what your overall grade in the class is but nothing specific for other assignments. Try to avoid him if you can.
Terrible Professor! He does not use canvas so you never know your grade until the end of the course. His lectures are always so off topic and boring. He gives pop quizzes offten and if you miss one part of the reading you won't do good on the pop quiz. His tests are also very long and difficult. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take this professor.
This professor moves very fast and does not ask for feedback on the speed he goes. Also each time you participate he cuts students off very often and comes off as very rude. He is definitely a very intelligent professor but his teaching style is just not for a lot of people.
Avoid him at all cost! He just cries in the class, and tells that his mom goes to church and got the first bachelors degree of the city. stay away.
He's making pop-up quizzes, he is not using canvas like other teachers he is using another very complicated and outdated website. Very hard to understand what you have to do, no grades on canvas
He can come across as rude but he cares about the success of his students at the end of the day. Wish he used Canvas since material is found under an outdated website, but his assignments are honestly easy to follow because he provides very clear instructions. As long as you follow directions and put in effort, you'll get an A
I would NOT recommend this PROFESSOR if you actually want to LEARN and PASS. He skips Canvas for his own CONFUSING WEBSITE, doesn't take ATTENDANCE, moves through EXCEL at HIGH SPEEDS, gives RANDOM QUIZZES, is often RUDE or DISMISSIVE toward students, constantly mentions the 405 FWY, and talks more about his own BUSINESSES than the CLASS MATERIAL.
This guys a joke keep it at that.
I am by no means the best student.Attend class & reasonable effort= A. Few pop quizzes about the reading but easy if you attend class.Curved quizzes heavily. Managed to get good grades on the quizzes by just giving some attention in class. Writing assignments are easy/openended (procrastinator friendly lol) Prof is an eccentric professor, he cares
He's very direct and shows his feelings pretty clearly, but is extremely passionate about his work and is in my opinion a great professor, learning is easy in this class. Yes there are pop quizzes, but if you read what he asked before the class they are easy, if you don't, everything is generously curved. Professor smith gets a ++ from me.
Everything is curved which is helpful, if i put more effort into the class i feel like i wouldve scored higher but i did the bare minimum and still passed. There is pop quizzes based on the readings but it's nothing out of this world. He's a very passionate professor and some people can take it wrong, but just do the work and you'll be fine.
