This guy knows what he is talking about, but is boring! I had him at 8 in the morning and barely stayed awake. Takes attendance at first but stops later. I recommend taking someone else unless you like monotone teachers.
terribly explaination skills, just shows examples, doesn't go into detail
Goin to his class is like taking 20 NyQuils. Best sleep of my life!!!
This class was not a good experoence. Doesn't require attendence which is a plus, but sometimes it's hard to teach yourself calculus. That's exactly what you have to do though if you take this class. I would say there are deffinitly better teachers out there!
Most BORING Class EVER!!!! U really learn for urself from course compass. Dont buy book!!! Only course compass u need. U may use ur book once but thats it! I prefer another professor but he's OK. If ur a good learner u can do it. I got a B out of it.
horrible teacher. doesn't know how to explain things, just shows examples. he expects you to learn by yourself, when it is virtually impossible. find a different teacher. his test are hard, his class is boring, he's a horrible man, does not help you out when you go to him for help.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Doesn't explain anything, just shows examples then erases it. Tests are hard, and you have to learn everything from course compass which is a crap program.
I took Tabor for math 1066 during the summer. I liked him a lot...everyone says hes such a hard teacher but he's not at all, he's a tad monotoned but it's college! I got an A in the class. All you have to do is go to class, do your homework and you'll get at least a B. It's college and if you're expecting to get by with doing anything then you shou
He was an ok teacher, very monotoned voice and boring. He just showed us exambles and it got confusing when it was time to do homework. Uses course compass, which sucks!! I wouldn't take him, but if you do just don't take a morning class because you will fall asleep.
This professor doesn't know what he is doing. My class and I would have to correct his problems as he was trying to explain them, and so he was explaining them wrong. he spends too mmuhc time on one problem instead of giving us an array of questions...he will spend 30 mins solving one of his own problems that we have to then correct.
The class is very boring. The test are hard because there is only about 5 problems on the test. Course Compass is annoying and he uses it for homework. Don't buy the book, you will never use it! He usually takes attendace. The only reason I am passing is because I still remember the material from previous math classes.
He is not a good teacher. He is not clear when it comes to what will be on the tests and quizzes. I would defiantly not take his class and if you have him switch out immediately. I was strong in math all through school until I had him, now I am just trying to pass his class.
This is the funniest math teacher ever. hes just a big goune. Its really easy though if you study before the test. there are only three tests, then an open book final. i suggest you take it. haha he gets chalk all over his face too.
his class is very easy but really boring to listen to him.
WORST TEACHER EVER. run AWAY. run. im an A-B student, until him, now im bareley passing. he is not helpful, it was time for him to retire 100 years ago. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!!
If you need serious help from a teacher to learn math, then don't take this class. Mr. Tabor is really nice, but he's also old and kind of slow, and he tends to just gives another 20 minute example rather than explaining a simple question. If you take this class, please do not be rude to him like the people in my class did. He doesn't deserve it.
Well this guy sounds like ben stein...and with an early morning class it is HORRIBLE! No one can stay awake and unless you already know evrything you're going to be taught it is pretty hard to follow him.
If you have a class with him in the morning, plan on bringing your pillow...youll need it
This guy is soooo boring.Doesnt take attendence so I never went to class but i still managed to learn my stuff through the online hw. Made a B in the class. Not a bad professor, just boring.
Wayne Tabor - monotone voice, doesn't seem enthused about his job, frequently works problems out incorrectly (our class noticed the errors before he did) Overall - very boring, many students failed, he's the worst math teacher I've had (not trying to be mean or anything) honestly, i would look for another professor for Math 1066
This is honestly one of the worst teachers ive ever had. He doesnt explain anything all he does is crappy confusing examples that take 20 minutes each. Test are hard and short. NEVER TAKE! HORRIBLE TEACHER!
Overall I think the guy is a decent teacher. Yes he is boring and monotone, so if you don't like a teacher like that do NOT take him. If you're decent at math like I am and are just trying to get it over with, he'll be great for you. Quizes are easy and Test are easy as well. Towards the last few weeks of class the course does get difficult.
Terrible. Monotone voice, uncleanliness is distracting, and he does long pointless examples. The man showed our class how every formula we used was originally found. 20-30 minute exapmles per formula. Very smart man obviously; let him do math for a living, not teach.
This guy is horrible that's all I have to say....every class at least 10 people get up and leave because he is bad...I learn all my stuff online and I teach myself because he can't teach me.
He is very mono-toned, but yet quiet. He can not teach, we teach ourselves online. every class, either half of it doesn't attend or half of it up and leaves before it's over, he sometimes takes attendance but other times doesn't. he is extremely boring, and doesn't know what he is doing! best advice, take any other possible teacher for this course!
VERY boring teacher and makes math even more boring then it is, all quizzes and homework are online, I am horrible at math and have made A's on both test, boring class but easy A/B without studying - take him if you need a good grade in math!
Worst teacher i have ever had. Doesn't use a microphone with 150 students in the class. Assigns quizzes online the day of exams in class. Not polite. basically an online class because everything is online. You go to class and then spend the rest of your night reteaching yourself everything you didn't learn. He doesn't know how to solve his own probs
this guy has absolutely no control over his students,. I felt like I was in a zoo, rather than a lecture class.
He is a bit monotone and speaks slowly, but as long as you attend class and takes notes there is no reason you should not walk away with at least a B. He is very shy and timid and with the amount of freshly graduated high school students, be warned that you may have to put someone in their place in order to hear him.
Yes, he is monotone, and the first part of class is easy, but it gets harder. I'll defend him by saying he's a nice man, he dropped the 3 lowest homeworks and quizzes, along with dropping the lowest test score. also 79-65 is considered a C. If you want a boring but easy instructor, take this guy. I got a B and don't know how
boring, monotone, can't hear...maybe. but he knows the material and shows it step by step. I think he was ok if u just want to learn the material and not worried about it being a boring class.
Monotone and does not speak up. He doesn't answer questions in class, but he does tell people about his office hours. He makes mistakes all the time though so you get confused in class. He takes attendance, but it is not really necessary that you go since the only things completed in class are exams. Pulled through with a B though.
Dr. Tabor was difficult, but if you pay attention and show up to class you'll do just fine. Helpful hint, he doesn't care about the calculator that you use, so do yourself a favor and buy a TI-89. It does most of the problems. I earned a B and didn't really try my best. I normally get A's in all algebra classes. Good Luck.
Very boring collects all HW and grades each problem for correctness. I would not take him again, he speaks to himself not the class... So it's very hard to learn the material.
Not what I was hoping for, granted it was a summer calculus class. Dr. Tabor didn't make it any easier. He does not clearly explain the material, but if you like going to the tutoring center this is the class for you!
SO BORING. He speaks slow, monotoned and is NO help. Don't bother asking him questions. I would've been better off taking an exclusively online course.
This teacher is extremely unclear. It is like he is talking to himself the entire time. Nice guy but impposible teacher especially if you are not good in math. I was very good in math in high school and I struggled in this class. Take another teacher.
Very old, very boring and a terrible teacher. If you did very well in math in high school you will be fine. However, if you struggled with math you are screwed because he doesnt understand how to teach students. If you ask him multiple questions he gets all worked up and confuses everyone even more.
Horrible teacher, doesnt explain anything clearly, seems like he speaks under his breath so you cant hear him. i was an A math student in high school and managed to barely pass his class
Very easy class, made an A+ without putting much work into the class. Must sit at the front in order to understand what he is saying and to do well. Gives a study guide prior to tests that are identical to the test.
Tabor is an alright professor. He is old and gets lost in his own problems but tries to be funny. Homework and quizzes and 4 tests the whole semester. Is willing to help his students. Doesn't give notes does them all in class so pay attention and he keeps track of attendance!
TERRIBLE TEACHER! doesn't explain anything and speaks so slow even for a 50 minute class its hard to pay attention! I had around 45 students when we started the semester and at the end there was about 15. Doesnt let the students ask questions cause he doesn't know how to answer them!
Tabor is the most rude professor ever! He never gives clear understanding of the lessons. And always get confused! And if you ask him questions he gets snappy! He teaches in a monotone voice and takes up 20 mins out of the 50 min class to take attendance! So not a recommendation!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. i made the mistake of giving him the benefit of the doubt. If you can teach yourself math easily then go ahead. But myself, I need someone who goes through steps and explains things and he DOES NOT DO THAT. i'm struggling and all my other friends got an A in math1066 with different teachers. save yourself.
Do not take him. This is an easy class that you should pass the first time around. Do yourself a favor and take with any other professor to succeed.
This class is the biggest snooze fest. He is terrible at explaining things so you basically have to learn everything on the online site. However, his study guides are just like his tests which help a lot. I pulled through with barely an A
Terrible teacher. Doesn't explain the information well at all. The class is slower and more boring than your usual math class, if thats possible... Really regretting taking his class.
The most boring teacher I've ever had in my life, just mumbles and writes on the board the entire time. Doesn't explain anything, but extremely easy to cheat on the exams. Take a different teacher.
Blanks out in class a lot and doesn't teach anything that is on the quizes or homework. He really needs to retire you can tell his mind is starting to go.
He is an older man, has his back to the class most of his lectures. He does know what he is talking about but his does not do a great job explaining it.
Everything you have read below is true. He's monotone, boring, and yeah. He knows what he's talking about, but he can't explain it to the class. If you take him for Math 1066, just be prepared to basically live at the Pirate tutoring center. That's the only way I'm surviving this class.
to put it simply, He is horrible
Save yourself. Don't take this class! He's old and can't explain anything. Forgetful. Absent-minded. Snappy. Made my favorite subject my least favorite. Even if he's the last professor available for your semester, don't take him!!
Incredibly hard and demanding class. He gets distracted and messed up in his own problems, hates questions in class, and doesnt talk loud at all. I am normally a deans list student and this class I barely passed with a C. Also, you cant use a graphing calculator, its all by hand or normal calculator. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
When he teaches he doesn't even look at his students. Doesn't give out extra credit and his tests aren't similar to what is on MyMathLab. Without MyMathLab I would not have passed this class. DO NOT TAKE.
Don't take him its awful
Imagine having a zombie for a professor. Imagine if that zombie was not very good at teaching math.
I have to re-take this class because of this professor, I made a D- and emailed him how could i possible get that grade when my test average was a 80 and I got a 60 on the final with A's on my homework, and have not gotten a word back on it. ECU is known for not having the best math dept but this teacher NEEDS to stop teaching. unbelievable.
This man should have retired from teaching a long time ago. He doesn't allow graphing calculators because that kind of technology would make his head spin. He doesn't address the class. He doesn't answer questions . Do not take his class if you are not good at Math
Mr. Tabor is one of the worst professors I've ever encountered. He is very old and doesn't know what he is talking about. Most of the time, the way he was teaching a topic was a lot harder than it needed to be and he constantly did incorrect steps or calculations. If you can avoid it, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Do not take him! He's old and can't hardly walk. Wont answer your questions. Heard his class is the most failed class at ECU. Does not teach well at all. If you are good with math, you will survive. if you struggle, do not take him.
He knows what he is talking about. What I learned it that people that never showed up to class would get the most confused. He clearly told the steps to each problem. While some people claim he skips steps, it should assumed they over have a basic understanding math. They got confused because they were not trying. Easy A.
ECU has a horrible math department and this man is a big part of the reason why. Probably the worst teacher I've ever had in my life and he wasn't willing to help at all with homework or quizzes, do yourself a favor and skip out
Lecture clarity is poor. Assumes students understand, and keeps moving through the lesson. Rarely looks at the class, so getting his attention is difficult. I learned most of the material before college. This is fortunate b/c I've had to "teach myself" with MyMathLab a lot. Class starts off easy, but gets harder at the end of the semester.
He is very hard to hear and does not explain his work at all. When you ask him a question he gets rude and just expects you to understand his work on the board. I would not recommend at all and i actually enjoy math but i did not enjoy it at all with him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I just to get 95 and higher in math all during high school, now I get 70's. He does't explain things at all. Once he finishes a problem, he goes right onto the next one even if people have questions. If you miss class you miss more then you think. If you want to do well don't take him. He is not a good professor at all.
He gives you a lot of opportunities to make your grades up. Honestly, the tests are not that difficult until the end. His lectures are awful though, I mostly taught myself.
He is extremely monotone. He doesn't actually teach, just mumbles to himself while putting chalk on chalkboard. His tests aren't hard but they are NOTHING like the final. You won't be prepared for the final unless you teach yourself. However he does reopen all of the online homework on reading day. The online hw/study plan will be your BFF.
He may know what he is talking about but he isn't clear in explaining it. There's usually 2 or 3 homework assignments a week. The exams are tough and the final is even harder. He releases a study guide for each exam which is just a practice exam. There is minimal explanation on any subject. Would not recommend taking this course.
Don't take this class unless you're ready to teach yourself. Doesn't give clear lectures, very monotone, finals are nothing like you'll be studying throughout the semester.
he is extremely monotone and very quiet while lecturing. he does not hear very well, so if you have a question you may need to yell. it is almost impossible to concentrate for more than 10 minutes even if you are very determined. i have never gotten a B in any math class, but this one i finished with a C. i HIGHLY recommend not taking him.
If you're not good with math don't take him. I learned way more from the math lab we do the homework and quizes on than what he did in class. He's really good at math but he's not very good at teaching it. You CANT use graphing calculators on the tests so don't bank on that. You're really teaching yourself in this class.
Im currently taking wayne tabor this summer- In class. I will like my own status if I passed and disklike it if i failed. Im not very good at math but im a hard worker. I plan to do all the hw on my math lab as quick as possible not really caring if i know it yet. Then use the 20 question math prep test to study and go back to my math lab 4 help.
He is a very quiet old man. I am not good at math but I do work hard and I still had to drop this class because he isn't a good math teacher. If you take this class be prepared to teach yourself. would not recommend him if you are not strong in math and ready to teach yourself A LOT
Extremely difficult class. Took statistics and he simply pulls a PowerPoint up and reads off of it. He doesnt work any of the problems out or explain anything. If youre capable of teaching yourself math, then go right ahead, but if not, I would highly recommend someone else. He seems like a really nice person, but hes a terrible teacher.
I've had Mr. Tabor for Math 1066 and Math 2283. He weighs the homework and attendance 30% of your grade making it easy to boost your grade. Lectures are extremely boring but he knows a lot about the subjects. Use his office hours and he will help you out!
Awful just absolutely terrible. Super monotone, terrible explanations, tough final. Only thing that allowed me to have a decent grade was the study guides for tests, almost same questions just different numbers. Final is very hard if you use mathway for homeworks you will not make good on final. So boring, dozed off every class. Lots of hw
Professor Tabor sits at his desk and reads off of power points that aren't even his. His low and monotone voice makes it hard to pay attention and understand what he is saying. Never once did he explain a problem on the board. If its not on the power point, he doesn't say it. Gives lengthy homework. Highly recommend taking stats with someone else.
He makes attendance mandatory and reads directly off the power point in a monotone voice for the whole class. By the end of most classes everyone was either asleep or on their phone. 0/10 would not recommend
I watched him work out one problem on the board so far this year and he couldn't figure it out. he asked if any of us knew how to do it which of course we didn't because he doesn't actually teach. do not waste your money on the bad grade you will get with him.
Im sitting in this class as we speak and not a single student is working on math. 10 people watching netflix the other 20 doing other homework. He reads right off the powerpoint in such a monotone voice I hardly can tell the words apart. Only take if you can teach yourself and need a study hall period.
Mr. Tabor is absolutely clueless. He does not understand the course material, he has to use a graphing calculator (the kind that students cannot use) to complete all of his problems on the board. He just reads off the presentation in lectures and does not explain the material. Horrible teacher
This is probably one of the worst professors at ECU. He sits at his desk and reads off the power point and never does examples. If you ask him questions he acts like he doesn't have time to answer them. 3 tests, homework on each section, and a cumulative final. You can have a notes sheet on Test 2, 3 and the Final. You teach yourself !!!!!
AVOID THIS PROFFESOR AT ALL COSTS. Sits at desk all class and strictly reads off the PowerPoint. You will not pass unless you are prepared to go to tutoring or teach yourself everything. One of the worst classes I have ever taken. Tabor does not teach you anything.
Hes a really sweet guy and means well... but ECU needs to let this man retire. Homework is 100% online, lectures are basically him reading off slides, and no math is shown. Doing homework in the class is a good idea. Hes really generous with extensions and offers an amnesty day at the end of the semester for any assignments you missed.
