i love him! the way he lectures is kind of like a story....he makes it interesting and makes it into a story, not just reading off a slide. if you go to class and take notes you def will have an A!! and he makes references to his drinking/party days in college. quote: "why do you think it took me 11 years to get my degree?". love him :)
He's pretty cool. But very boring. Kinda looks like a turtle. As long as you read and take good notes you'll be fine. His assistant is gorgeous! That definitely made the class better...
As long as you go to lecture, you dont have read the book. He knows history is a required course and makes it easy to get an A.
Great Teacher, has his students interests in mind all the time. Made history interesting, which I felt was boring before class. Gives extra credit, but doesn't curve. Lets you know anything you need, very clear. Never opened the book, just pay attention and take notes from his power points and he'll be an easy B. Do the extra credit, it helps.
He's really clear about what he's going to test you over. Attendance isn't mandatory but sometimes he'll assign a paper and if you're not there that day, you can't turn it in. Other than that, the class is an easy A. You actually do have to read, especially the two books he assigns. You can't pass by using sparknotes.
Great professor. Lectures and powerpoints are easy to understand and tries to keep it interesting. Tests are usually easy as long as you take good notes. Gives you extra credit which really helps. Reaction papers are guaranteed A's as long as you do them. READ the two books! Got an A in the class and def recommend this prof
Easy class as long as you be there and take good notes. Don't slack off on the book, tests mainly come from there. Gives a lot of extra credit. Gives random reaction papers, so don't miss class. They are pretty easy.
Gives you study guide questions but none of them are in the quiz. Definitely read all the required books. Too much assignments in a 8 week course. It's almost 40 hrs of studying just to complete this course.
He has actually made history interesting for me. If you write down the notes on the PowerPoint and also what he says, you will do well on the tests. I have not even opened the book. There are two other books which you will have to read, Sparknotes won't cut it. Also assigns papers on random days, so try not to miss those days.
He is awesome. You should definitely TAKE HIM!! You won't regret it, he has helpful power points, and he's an easy grader as long as you study. You don't need the textbook to study but you do need the autobiographies for two quizzes. Attendance is not mandatory but reaction papers are easy grades. Plus you have extra credit grades too. Easy A!!!
I took him for History I.I stupidly bought the book. You don't need it even though he says you do. Gives easy extra credit that can be wort up to 7.5(?) points on your final grade. I studied the day before sort of- made an A. He curves the book quizes. OH, you get a one page front and back cheat sheet for the test. TAKE HIM NOT Clark.
Go to class and take really good notes and you are good. Read the books he assigns, you wont past the quiz using sparknotes, they are very detailed. give out extra credit that is easy and really helps with the grade i got 8 points added to my letter grade! His test are hard.
all i want to say is this professor us just awesome. go to class, take notes, use the book as a supplement, do the extra credits, and you will definitely make an A. His lectures are clear, and recorded, so even if yo miss a class no problem. His exams are directly 100% from the notes. Also you have to give two autobiography quizzes.
Great Professor. I typically hate history but he made the subject interesting. Do the homework, pay attention in class, and study a little and you'll easily get an A. He knows this is a required class and he doesn't try to weigh you down like some professors do. He's great! Take him!
EASY PROF. Gives you a cheat sheet for his test. You can put whatever you want on it. For example, YOUR WHOLE ESSAY lol. Just go to class because he will have a surprise reaction papers and you don't know when he'll pull one of those out of his back pocket
Dr. Hunnicutt is awesome. If you're a history major, then you should definitely take his class. There are 5 timelines, 10 quizes, 10 Content Quizes, One candide essay, and 10 discussions. Yes, theres work involved, but it's easy because it was online and his notes are very accurate.
He is super easy, very understanding, lectures very dry, attendance is not required but gives extra credit opportunities to those who are in class, and does so sporadically so you never know when he will, which serves as incentive to come to class. Overall a good class, sometimes assignments are scheduled on weird days SO PAY ATTENTION 2 SYLLABUS!
Very good lectues and everything is online just go to class and pay attention, easy course
GREAT TEACHER!!! I learned so much about history that I was actually interested in and I can use in my lifetime! He is very clear on what he expects from you and he sends out emails to make sure you know when things are due such as the final. He's an awesome teacher. IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TAKE HIM!
Great, knowledgeable and kind teacher. Class lectures go over most of the work you need to do, some supplemental reading in the textbook helpful (maps help for the map quizzes). A lot of little, easy assignments. He has changed the set up for his class/assignments, but overall still an easy and interesting class. Would recommend.
Easy A. Many little easy assignments: 10 discussions, 4 content quiz, 5 map quiz, one paper, one final but do it ONLINE! Easy to find the answer and easy to get an A. There are plenty of extra credit, too.
Make sure to pay attention to the syllabus and you won't need to go to class.
Great professor! Considerate and understanding. He makes everything simple and easy to understand. Assignments are clear and are not hard. He is very easy-going with his grading. Really interesting lectures, I never thought I would like history.
He is an awesome professor. Dr. Hunnicutt is extremely chill and most of the assignments are online which can be easily googled. Apart from that there's two in class essays and 2 papers that stand in your way from an A. Definitely worth taking and I wish he lectured 1312.
Dr. Hunnicutt's class was my easiest class. He gives lots of extra credit and is an extremely good professor. Attendance isn't necessary but going does help. The lectures aren't boring and most of the graded material is online like exams and map quizzes. He's a MUST TAKE for History 1311!
Dr. Hunnicutt is so understanding and he cares about his students! He is so sweet and I would definitely take history 1312 with him but he does not teach it, sadly. TAKE HIM! I recommend you guys go to class also because he randomly gives you extra credit if you are there.
His expectations are clear, and never waiver. His lectures are super interesting! The grades are mainly focused on the papers, and essay exams, both of which are easy if you read the books and attend the lectures. I would say that you don't have to purchase the text books, but I did use them in my papers, which was optional. I will take him again.
As long as you show up and take notes, you should make a good grade. Test questions come straight from lectures. DON'T BUY THE BOOK, you never use it. Also, he offers tons of extra credit opportunities to the people who show up to class. One of the best professors I've ever had. Easy A.
A lot of notes, impossible to keep up during lecture, a lot of reading, you'll likely get behind very fast. Hours of writing and reading are required. Prepare to have no fun in your personal life.
Lectures are done in class. Tests, essays(minus In Class Essays), and extra credit are done on blackboard. Makes classes interesting, answers questions clearly, and is very understanding when you are obviously putting effort to do well in his class. By far, the best teacher I've ever had. I don't expect to ever find another teacher of his caliber.
His lectures are off a powerpoint , but he makes them interesting. Also, his tests are all online and if you get the notes you can easily pass them. Also, he gives a lot of extra credit and does not grade harshly. The only reading you really have to do is Frederick Douglass.
Mr. Hunnicutt was spectacular. Very easy course, and super easy A. Literally do your work, listen to the lectures and you'll pass. He's also a very sweet, easy going man.
His lectures were clear, with useful information that directly helped on all assignments. He posted all the lectures and course documents online, which helped you if you missed a class, but gave extra credit for those who came to class as incentive not to just do everything at home. He is kind, and always available through email. Great class!
All the tests were online. There were two in class essays with the topics given in advance. His lectures are interesting. Grading system is point based so if you have an A before the final you don't have to take it. Easy to get an A in the class unless you just don't try.
A great professor. Gives extra credit. If you are taking history, then he is the professor to go with. Easy A.
If you want to take a history class in a chill and easy going environment, Hunnicutt is the professor to take. He gives plenty of extra credit but only if you show up and read the texts for the day. His lectures are rarely dull, depending on the subject, and he isn't a tough grader if you put in the time and effort into your work.
All assignments online except for 2 in-class-essays. Amazing professor. Available through email before 10 pm. The lectures are all you need to get A's on exams. All lectures are online. Wide range of time to take exams. Random day for extra credit for coming to class. Late assignments accepted for lower grade. Hard not to get an A. Textbook helpful
TAKE HIM PERIOD ! As long as you come to every class you easily have an A ! His lectures are actually not boring and you will learn ! Extra credit but you have to be in class , lectures are also recorded !! Textbook helpful if you miss classes but not needed
Great professor, textbook not necessary if you show up to class. Two in class essay's, the rest is online. Most classes are recorded in case you miss. Great professor!Highly recommended
Dr. Hunnicutt's class was pretty easy. all of his lectures are online, but occasionally he'll ask you to sign up for extra credit and you have to be in class for that. All test and quizzes are online. only thing in class are two essays. a lot of little grades, so the exams are not worth much relative to the final grade.
Prof Hunnicutt made me wish I was a history major. His insights on the time periods were enlightening and made you think. He obviously cares about the material and brings his own view on history (some of which he lived though). Pay attention and take notes or download his docs from blackboard. The tests were all online as were most assignments.
Attendance is not necessary, but if you show up to all classes he throws an extra 4 points onto your final grade. This was the first semester for him teaching the "American Constitutional Law" class. He's teaching 3318 and I'm already signed up for his class. Awesome teacher, and great guy! Take Hunnicutt if you can
If you take notes on power points and everything he says, you have the test in front of you. Everything is online except for the In class essays, but those are super easy. He makes history interesting and if you show up to class he gives you extra credit at the end of the semester. Loved him!
Greaaaaaat Teacher, he is the greatest most caring teacher id ever met. please take him you won't regret.
I LOVE Dr. Hunnicutt. He's the sweetest guy, and his class is great and SUPER (!!!) easy. The class is graded on few papers, a few content quizzes, and a couple of map quizzes, but everything is through BB. You show up, listen to him talk about recent history, and it's a good start to the day. I'd take any class offered by him again in a heartbeat!
He was fine. Just a ton of work. Kind of feels like he expects you to only focus on his class.
The entire course is online if you take HIST 1312, you show up for class for notes and lecture however the tests are online and are very easy to cheat on. He knows you're in there because it's mandatory. He tries to be entertaining and it's not a difficult class to pass.
The best professor for history he is so laid back but still teaches very well. HIs lectures are very entertaining and guarantee you won't be bored in there. there is some work to do but very easy with basic knowledge of what is going on. Another easy A.
Great Professor and makes lectures interesting , I wish I could take him for every history class. Offers tons of extra credit.
Best Prof! The class is an easy A. Everything but two essays is online. He gives extra credit but only to those in class that day. HIghly recommend taking him. He makes history fun.
The biggest advantage in taking this particular professor is the extra credit opportunities. I seriously cannot count how many opportunities we had. However, you have to be present in class to sign your name and ID#. The only thing I hated was basically having an exam every other week. On top of essays and quizzes, it tremendously helps your grade.
He is an amazing prof & made history my favorite subject. Take notes on most of what he says during the lectures bc it will help A LOT on exams. There are 5 online exams and a cumulative online final. He gives a lot of extra credit. There are 2 essays & 2 in-class essays that he gives you time to prepare for. Make sure to pay attention to deadlines
Dr. hunnicutt's class was not the best. We had quite a lot of quizzes and tests (all online), as well as 3 in class essays. His lectures are not the best, quite boring and he basically reads off of the powerpoints. Attendance is not mandatory, the textbook is online and free. No homework other than the quizzes and exams, easy if you like history
I was dreading this course, but Dr. Hunnicutt made it very doable. This class actually helped a lot in researching and writing. The discussions in class were engaging and informative. Grades fairly, just follow the rubrics. Take him for HIST 3300!
He has a lot of assignments but he is an easy grader so its a guaranteed A if you work on all the assignments. Gives extra credit assignment. His exams and everything is online and the quizzes have a few questions based on his lectures, so i recommend attending his class. Easy A
Great sense of humor. Showing up makes class easier for everyone. Great on feedback. Absolutely would take him again for this course and any other course he teaches. Really cares about his students.
Nicest prof ever, very easy grader, super sweet, very funny. Always answers all questions. Does not expect a Master's level research paper for 3300 like other prof's. Have taken other courses with Dr. H, I love his course every time. No reason any student should not make an A. Participate, do your work, ask questions if you need help.
Hunnicutt is very Meh. Like hes nice but also seems to not be too lenient on information or being understanding. Expects you to know more about the assignments than you do.
Everything is in his lectures which are in person or echo online. Tests and essays are online. About 5 tests, a final, 3 essays, and a few quizzes. He has multiple extra credit opportunities. Specifically waited to take his 1312 course because of how easy the A was in 1311. Great Prof, would take him for all my classes if I could.
This classy was very easy. Basically in class lectures with online exams, quizzes and assignments. Easy A if you really try hard. Tests can be quiet hard but they're online.
Gives a lot of extra credit if you attend class. Interesting lectures. Three essays, 5 online exams, 2 map quizzes, and a comprehensive final. Honestly, if you try then it's an easy A. I highly recommend taking his class.
His tests are hard. I would study and feel like nothing he went over in his lectures was on the tests... does not give reviews. Other than that he gives plenty of extra credit and grades you on a lot (which helps if you don't do great on your exams). Everything, including the exams, was online.
There were a total of 6 exams, 3 papers, and 2 quizzes. The exams were relatively easy, no lockdown browser required. Lectures were boring so I stopped going and still passed with a B.
Dr. Hunnicutt ROCKS. 6 exams, 3 small quizzes, and 3 papers. I was able to skip the final because of his extra credit (7pts to overall grade) and doing well on his other assignments. Show up and also take notes on information he elaborates off his slides. All assignments are online. Just try and you'll be fine.
Dr. H will make this class very easy because there was upto 10% to earn in extra credit, but you only get it if you attend class. All the tests are online on Blackboard. There will be 3 essays and 6 exams.
Dr. Hunnicutt's class was one of my favorite professors this semester. He really is passionate about history and loves what he does. He makes the material less boring by telling stories or focusing on more interesting things from those time periods. Lots of work but nothing too unmanageable
He was a good professor, but the class had a lot of papers and work. Do the assignments and you will be fine
Overall, great professor. I took him for US Legal History in the summer. He taught this course by class discussions. Everyday you read the readings and then talk about it as a class. He is a pretty fair grader on essays. He also does multiple choice tests and will curve grades when needed. He also responds to email very quickly.
BEST PROFESSOR!! easy to reach. clear about assignments. Extra credits are in the videos. You have to watch them because they pop up.
Dr. Hunnicutt is not only an amazing professor but he is just the sweetest person ever. He really cares about his students and you can tell. I've taken him for several classes, and he never disappoints. He's very straight forward and grades quickly. He also gives great feedback. Take him, he won't disappoint you.
It's only my first semester but he's already my favorite! I would recommend him to anyone, he really knows history and how to teach it. Class isn't too hard, not an easy A but as long as you do your work you should do really well. He is an easy grader, has clear expectations, and always offers to help. Take this class!
I was scared of HIST 3300 but he made it such a beneficial & smooth class. He's the sweetest man & gives great feedback. This is prob the most valuable class I've taken so far. It is a lotttt of HW and essays- sometimes multiple a week. But I promise he makes it manageable. Grades extremely easy, I made an A+ on everything. Take him!! He's so kind
He is honestly a jerk. I took him for intro to historical research and he is the absolute WORST at explaining assignments. All you will hear is refer to turabian which as a whole is NOT a good book to depend upon. The explanations are hard to follow. He also played heavy favoritism to the students hes had before.
Overall, he is nice and ready to deliver you with the knowledge. If you are a history major, maybe he is the best one since he goes in-depth on every topic; if not, it's a lot if you are taking this class as a pre-requisite class. Lots of essays and other assignments consume lots of time that you could have invested in your other major classes.
Great professor. The work may seem long at first but he is very flexible to help you out. Lots of papers and reading but hey it is a history class. Great man and did his best during these trying times to give us his attention.
Dr. Hunnicutt is a really good guy that cares for his students. There is a lot of writing but it is a research class. I think the content I learned will really help in the future. Dr. Hunnicutt grades pretty easily. Just turn in your work on time and you will pass.
Dr. Hunnicutt is the professor you always imagine having once you are in college. Engaging, analytical, calm demeanor, and has a way of making what feels like the most stressful task, seem easy once he breaks it down for you. Cannot recommend this awesome HUMAN BEING enough! Wish I had found him earlier in my academic career.
The nicest professor ever! He is here for everyone whenever you need help. Overall, he is the best!
He has to be one of the most caring people that I have ever encountered unlike other professors in the history department. He really enjoys seeing the growth in all of his students.
Dr. Hunnicutt, without question, is the best professor at UT-Arlington. He's very good at speaking and teaching, is understanding of any problems that may arise, and is a blast to be around. I highly recommend taking hi for HIST-3300.
I really enjoy his "fun facts." He goes out of his way for those who attend class. There are only a few assignments. If you fail your first assignment do not be discouraged go to his office hours and talk to him.
His teaching style is informative but quite dull. His quizzes are all online, and his assignments have clear grading criteria. Overall, he's a great person and an easy grader.
Great professor. He's very knowledgable so a lot of the information comes from his lectures on his PowerPoints, which don't have a lot of content on them. If you can't make the class, he has it recorded on Echo360 and is very accessible. He was also very good at responding emails, and cracks a few jokes here and there that will make you chuckle
I took Dr Hunnicutt for the History of Punishment in Early Modern France, Britain, and America which is Whips, Chains, and Dungeons for short. As a selected topics in History. He is the best instructor in the History Department and wants you to pass his class. Unfortunately he's retiring after fall 2024 he might teach again in the future.
Professor Hunnicutt is one of the nicest professors you can find and I would recommend any of his classes to anyone needing history credits. My course revolved around 5 major book reports that each took a good amount of time, but other than that the course is very easy. There is also a group project, but it's very laid back.
His lectures are dry and it took a lot for me to focus but he gives great feedback on all assignments and is very kind
Lectures aren't mandatory, light workload. For untests make sure you cite properly and use YAWP textbook and lecture notes, they are a little confusing at first but he drops the lowest one. Tests are straight from the powerpoint and they are taken at home even tho it is an in person class. Overall I liked this class and he is very nice.
I highly recommend taking this class especially if you're a freshman trying to warm up into college. His work is straight foward and easy and he is quick to reply to emails if you ever have a question. He's probably the nicest and least strict teachers at UTA
Very great professor overall. Online textbook (free). Approximately 4-60 question quizzes and 4 essays (all online, not taken in person), 1 quiz, 1 essay is dropped and the final was multiple choice (online) . Open to tutoring and any/all questions he answers. Attendance not mandatory, lectures are straightforward. Suggest note taking the outlines.
