Not the worst teacher ever. But NOT big at all on helping students out. Alot of teachers love helping individuals out if they show effort. She DOESNT like to help you out at all....AVOID if at all possible.
She is a good teacher. She makes the material pretty interesting and it is really easy to get a good grade. Go to the labs, and study for your test and it's an easy B+ or A
She seems very understanding and helpful at first, but when students ask her questions or ask her to repeat something in class she gets very agitated (to the point you do not want to ask her anything during class). The labs are excruciatingly boring and tedious but you have to go, and there are quizzes in lab as well.
This teacher is much too concerned with inviting her students to meet her at trivia night in hopes of making herself feel a little younger. Not helpful, makes false accusations- don't take her class- she hates the fact that no one cares about statistics and she is extremely bitter.
Wicked hard class. She'll replace your lowest test with your final. Pretty sweet teacher, but she seems to assume we are all on her level.
Hard tests. Easy to get lost in lectures but easy to understand. Does not use textbook. If you make a high exam she will replace it with your lowest test score. Attendance is not mandatory but come to class and earn clicker pts. It will help out later on.
She is a good teacher, gives all the notes on course compass (like blackboard) and goes over them in class. She is also very helpful in class and outside. If you go to class and study for the tests you will be fine. It was a pretty easy class as long as you pay attention and she is very helpful.
She was really helpful and even said if you can find her old tests floating around that we should use them to study from. Definitly study for her tests and go to class she will grade your tests right in front of you when you're done so you know what you got. She explains everything really clearly too. I'm not a math person and got a good grade
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMEN!!!!!! SHE HATES STUDENTS AND THINKS THAT EVERY UNDERGRAD HAS A MASTERS IN STATS. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE WANTS THE STUDENTS TO BE HER FRIEND!!!!! AND SHE TALKS ABOUT HER BORING DAUGHTER NON STOP!!!!!!!
Very friendly, sometimes can get confusing but definitely a good teacher.
Nice lady, very knowledgeable. So few questions on each test that it's easy to not do well on them. Homework is also a pain and can bring down your grade. Don't bother getting the textbook, she doesn't use it. But go to class for clicker points, because they help. Decent class, not the best or the worst professor. Don't expect an A, though.
she is a good teacher. she explains things well in class while she is doing notes. you are not required to go but her lessons are not online. you either go or teach yourself. if you do go the test came right from the notes. (she likes to talk about her family)
Explains things well. the homeworks are kind of hard, but you control your own gradr. the only reason to go to class is to get clicker points, but overall good prefessor
come to her class to get clicker points, homework is hard and so are the test. she uses a power point everyday and doesn't write anything on the board very hard to understand. i wouldn't recommend this class.
go to class to get clicker points because they DO help your grade. Very nice lady. You always get out of class early and if you've taken stats in high school then it's a very easy class. Homework is hard at times but work together with friends. 80 or higher and you exempt the exam!! I recommend.
She's not helpful at all, if you ask for help she'll tell you to go to the math center, you only get one attempt on the hw and most of her slides have typos and sometimes the answers are wrong. Take any other stat teacher DO NOT TAKE CIMINO!
Useless. Doesn't make any sense, so many typos on slide impossible to follow along; really easy examples in class then the homework is stuff you haven't talked about and you get one chance. Spent all my time in tutoring center, they taught me way more than she ever did. Take someone else if you can.
If you take this class make sure you go to the tutoring center. Go to class to get iclicker points. Exams can be tricky so make sure you do practice problems and write down the answers to the questions on the slides in class. Cimino is a nice woman but explanations can be confusing.
Explanations are very unclear, homework is hard and not comparable to the notes in class. Good luck trying to make at least an 80 on tests, the last homework in order to exempt final. Go to class to get iclicker points. She wont answer questions regarding your grade and she make a lot of mistakes. Read directions on the homework very carefully.
She is very unapproachable and is not good at teaching the material. The book is NEVER used. She says that up front but says you will use it as a reference-- you wont. Go to the tutoring center, at least they are helpful and know what they are talking about.
I don's know what these students are talking about. She is extremely easy, never refers to the book and tells you not to buy it. Her test are so easy if you just go over slides she post on blackboard. This class is easier than my stat class in high school. And you can exempt final exam if you have an A in class and make above 80 on last hw. So easy
Every class there are iClicker points, those are easy grade boosters and part of the reason I had a B in the class. Homework questions and tests are vague. The class is monotone and all powerpoint slides. Not bad but not good either. Around half the classes on Tuesday/Thursday we got out 15 minutes early, so that was a plus.
My biggest issue with this class was the homework. i would go to class everyday and soend 45 minutes with my slides and still get like 8/19 right on the hw. the hw was difficult and vague. the tests were alot easier. go to class for the clicker points. we got out early everyday so that was really nice. so if you're good at stat take this class.
Key Pointer to Pass Class: Do the homework in groups, make sure you attend class (iclicker points will help you) and know the material before class. As she flys through the slides and if you don't understand what is going on you will drowned in the information. Textbook isnt used, all info comes from slides. Email/TA/Overall helpfulness is a joke.
She flys through chapters and gets mad when no one asks questions even though when she answers them she basically refers back to the slide that no one understood. Rarely answers emails and has no other way to contact her. Homework and tests do not correlate. If you're good at math go ahead, if not take another professor that cares.
Wendy is very enthusiastic (even at 8:30 in the morning). I withdrew my first time taking her for medical reason, but took her again for STAT110 just because I really liked her. Go to class, easy easy A.
Very nice lady. Go to class for Clicker points and do NOT buy the textbook. Homework is harder than the tests. From what I've experienced she's nice and helpful and is really passionate about Statistics.
Didn't take attendance but had "clicker"s every class in order to give points out for the day. Homeworks were always a little more complicated then the actual class work and she flew through slides fast.
Do not need to buy textbook at all. Do not need to go to class, but gives clicker points that really help your grade. Goes super fast through the slides, and doesn't give much help. Talks really fast too. Would not be my first choice as a professor.
This class shouldn't have been difficult but she speaks fast, has terrible resources, and makes the homework much more difficult than what she goes over in class. Don't take if you like clarity in your lectures
She is a nice lady but goes way too fast, explains nothing, never shows up for office hours, and is almost no help with the class. I probably could have learned just as much if I taught the class myself. she only talks from the slides, is very confusing and almost always make errors which make the topics even MORE confusing. Avoid!
This class was super easy. Don't buy the textbook because you'll never use it. Go to class to get clicker points. You can exempt the exam as long as you have at least an 80% in the class and make an 80% or above on the last hw. HW is all on Blackboard. I would recommend taking this class for an easy math class
I honestly really liked Cimino. She puts all of her powerpoints on blackboard and the homework questions aren't too difficult. Go to class to get clicker points because they really help. Tests aren't too bad as long as you look over the material a little. Don't buy the textbook I literally never even opened it.
Fairly easy class. Come to class to get clicker points!! Homework was pretty easy. The test were not challenging. I recommend her!
Clicker points set you up for failure; homework goes off on tangents not covered in class. Exams are fairly easy.
Cimino should not be teaching. She takes days to reply back to emails, and usually replies after the assignment is due. She gets annoyed when you ask questions and already expects you to know the information prior to taking her class. She is one of the WORST teachers I've experienced at this school. Do NOT recommend.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She may literally be the worst math teacher I've ever had. She is not clear with anything she talks about and contradicts herself. The exams are a bit challenging. The clickers which count for attendance sets you up for failure. The online homework is 10xs more difficult than anything discussed which really screws your grade up.
Cimino is a little random at times, but her method of teaching does help prepare for the tests/exams (but ONLY for the exams). Clicker questions can sometimes be common sense or sometimes be ridiculous tangents of something not explained. The same goes for the homework - homework questions can be simple, or something not covered in class.
The iClicker questions you answer in class will set you up for failure if you're not enthusiastic about math. The homework is filled with scenarios not acknowledged in class, however the tests aren't too bad. Would not recommend her though.
THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER DONT EVER TAKE HER SHE ISNT HELPFUL AT AL
I struggle with math, but she made stat 101 a breeze. I am so thankful I had her class. She's a cool lady and wants to help. She is devoted to helping her students after class as well.
Professor Cimino's class made learning stats so simple. Homework assignments are all due online, and if you don't do so hot, don't worry. iClicker points in class will help you make up points. You can exempt out of the final exam, tests are clear cut and straightforward, and she doesn't take attendance. I highly recommend her.
Doesn't answer questions. Homework is only loosely related to the notes. Test questions are labyrinthine and I hated class.
Not as bad as people make her out to be. She is hard for an intro class though. She curves the final grade at the end of the year by a point or two, and I wouldn't have gotten an A without it. Tests are hard and so is the homework but the iclickers are extra credit and definitely help your final grade. Attendance is also not mandatory which is nice
Every class has anywhere from 5-15 Clicker Questions (multiple choice questions that go along with the lecture, answered on the iClicker), which are used as extra credit points. This definitely helps your grade, but doing all the homework and studying for the tests is necessary as well. Wendy has office hours for extra help, too.
Cimino is a nice lady, but she can be really unclear. I taught myself a lot of the material; if you're okay with that, take the class! She gives a good bit of extra credit that got me an A. DONT FORGET YOUR ICLICKER.
Lectures are not posted online. She gives in-class extra credit questions that really help balance missed homework points. Main thing, come to class! You won't be able to get the notes otherwise and you'll lose extra credit opportunities that could help out a lot later! Overall, she was ok. Not bad, not great. Studied some, but not too hard.
I absolutely loved this class. If there was ever a time where I didn't understand something, all I had to do was ask and then Ms. Cimino was sure to clarify. She gives you printable notes to take during class. If you bring these each day, you are covered. Also, usually each lecture includes iClicker questions for bonus points on the homework.
Tests are extremely difficult and even if you get all the homework right (which is a lot) its only 20% of your grade. Tests count for 80% of your grade which can screw you over.
You could tell she was there because she needed the job, not because she actually wanted to be there. She read straight from her powerpoints. Her expectation for us to print out all of the fill in the blank notes for her class was ridiculous but if you didn't print the notes and bring them, the class was that much harder.
This class is super easy and straight forward. There are only 3 tests and she tells you exactly what will be on them with a very clear study guide. I'm really bad at math and math-like concepts but this class was painfully easy. If you don't understand something, you can pretty much fake it because the tests are multiple choice.
This class was really easy for me. She gives you the notes and all you have to do is print them out and you're good. She is always willing to answer questions. The homework and tests are all multiple choice so they are pretty easy. She also gives you iClicker points for extra credit on the homework.
Cimino rushes through some of the material, just make sure you have each chapter printed and ready to fill out for every class. Also, make sure to pay attention, you can easily miss important answers and you have to go to class or you get so behind!
Lectures are based on printed paperwork she puts on black board--fill in the blanks. Two attempts on blackboard homework. Kinda hard test. Clickers account for attendance and extra credit. Don't suggest taking this as an 8:30 am. Final exam is optional but if lower than any test grade it still replaces that, making your grade even lower *eye roll*
Wendy Cimino is a great professor! I took her for stat 110 and she basically gives you the notes and all you have to do is fill them out in class. The tests come straight from the homework and class notes!
One of the best professors I had my Freshman year. We had online homework, which was harder than the actual test. Clicker points go towards EC for homework. Tests are easy, questions straight from in class questions and homework questions. She is very fair and reasonable. Wants to help us out as much as possible.
This is a second job to Cimino. She is not available for help, which you could need because she flies through the material. Make sure you keep up with the notes or it will be impossible to pass.
Professor Cimino made statistics incredibly interesting. She genuinely wants you to get a good grade and provides you with plenty of opportunities to do so. She understands that not everyone is math-oriented and makes the material, homework, and exams as clear as possible.
In class this professor tends to get annoyed with students asking questions, and 80% of our grade is our tests. She isn't available out of class besides her office hours online and isn't willing to help her students get a better grade through extra credit or attendance points. Rarely responds to emails, no matter the circumstance.
Not very responsive to emails or effort to improve grades, and kind of rude. The study guides do not help for tests at all and she does not answer questions very well. Hard to follow lecture as well
Wendy is very knowledgable in terms of the material that she teaches, but sometimes she goes too fast through her lectures and it is hard for her to slow down because she is on a schedule. Make sure to buy or rent an iClicker because they will save your grade if you are struggling in the class. The tests are sometimes hard even with studying.
She was a really good professor. She will answer your questions, make sure you are prepared for the test and explains material so it is easy to understand.
I love Professor Cimino, the class was pretty easy, clicker points were extra credit that really bumped up your grade. Homework is harder than the test.
I LOVED professor Cimino. She was funny, and made math at 8 am interesting. She was a fair grader, and a great teacher. I actually learned a lot in this class. I wish I could take her for Stat 201! Gave study guides, reviewed well before exams, and always made the homework harder than the tests so we would be ready. Go out of your way to have her!!
Good teacher, doesn't use the textbook and you can print all your notes online, easy to talk to and an overall good class. Sometimes goes to fast or to slow but is always willing to stop and help whoever doesn't get it. very clear about what she wants except on tests. they are multiple choice if you don't get the answer right its wrong no questions
She is a very clear and effective statistics instructor. She made it so statistics was not too difficult. She gave a lot of extra credit through iClicker questions, so make sure not to skip her class. She has a good amount of homework, but not too much. I would highly recommend this professor for Stat 110.
She goes too fast and never fully describes the math problems. Focuses on only math and only asks minimal questions about it on the tests and mainly vocab. Online office hours are no help and even if I asked for extra help. Tests are 25 questions each being 4 points a piece greatly affecting your grade if you only miss a couple questions.
I tried SO hard in this class, got all of the extra credit points, and she still gave me a 69.6 in the class and would not bump it to a C. If you understand Stats, this class is for you. If you aren't quite a Stat or math person, TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
Cimino is a very reasonable instructor. Her homework is not bad at all, and she always asks if we have homework questions. iClicker questions for extra credit on homework is great and provides as cushion to your grade. I can truly tell she wants her students to succeed.
She FLIES through the chapters, if you have already had exposure to stats then this course would be easy but otherwise her class was pretty hard. She is nice but this was my hardest class in my first semester.
I'm not great at math but this course was doable. Go to class and print out the fill-in-the-blank notes and keep up with her. Final exam is optional to replace lowest test grade.
Professor Cimino really makes this class easy. She has fill-in-the-blank notes which the homework follows nearly exactly. The tests are also very similar to the lecture notes and homework, so basically if you show up and take the notes, it's a really easy A.
Professor Cimino gives a lot of information during her lectures so it is very valuable to go to class. She does move very quickly but if you pay attention and use her guided notes, information is easy to understand. She gives you a lot of extra credit with clicker points which help a lot if you do not do well on the homework.
Cimino goes through her notes pretty fast so be sure to be attention. The final exam is optional. This class was okay I guess. The clicker points help with you homework grade.
I went into stats thinking it was going to be impossible just based off what other people have said about stat, but she made it the easiest it could be. study the fill in the blank notes and homework questions and you will do fine. It was a lot easier than expected but still requires effort. iclicker questions give extra credit
Cut this lady some slack!! She tries her best to make Stats entertaining at 8:30 AM, and offers a lot of clicker points. You get two tries on homework, which is all online. If you need individual instruction, she's not for you, but if you grasp things easily TAKE HER CLASS! Don't waste your money on the textbook. She'll say you don't need it.
I LOVED her. these ratings are wack. All you need to do is show up to class and take notes. there is homework online test every week or every 2 weeks that has 2 attempts you can redo if you do bad on it. if you ask her homework questions in class she basically tells you the answers. MAKES MY 8:30 AM BAREABLE. SHES REALLY FUNNY TOO!!!
3 exams only 25 questions each which makes it almost impossible to get an A. theres extra credit but really its just if u dont get 100 on the homeworks which you have to be an idiot to not do.. so basically there isnt extra credit and she isnt reliable and never posts anything she says she will on black board hard must attend class to get notes
Cimino was not very hard. Her exams were made up of questions off the homework or in-class notes. Notes are fill in the blank so make sure you go to class. No textbook required so that was very helpful!
She is very misleading. YOUR GRADE ON BLACKBOARD IS NOT YOUR ACTUAL GRADE. This can be really misleading since you have to calculate your own grade every time you get a new one. If you go to class and do the clicker points, you will get a good amount of extra credit. They dont amount to much so STUDY for the exams. Just print out the notes.
only 3 exams each only 25 questions making it almost impossible to get an A. tests are more definition based rather than actual stat which is annoying because it makes the most simple stat class u can take hard and more time consuming memorization wise. offers no extra credit for exams only on the online hw which u dont need the extra credit for
I LOVED her. Yes, the class is early, and yes she does only have 3 tests, but I learned a lot from her and I am not great at math. She tells jokes and tries to make it interesting. The clicker points help a lot so go to class. She literally gives you the notes, you just have to fill in the blank!! better than other profs
If you have not taken a STAT course prior to this, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR! She breezes over difficult topics. There are only three exams that are 25 questions (multiple choice). Thus, it is very hard to make a good score on the exams. The study guides are somewhat helpful.
Prof. Cimino is an amazing person. She cares about teaching and wants feedback from the students so that she can make teaching stats easier to understand. Coming to class makes it much easier for you on the tests and she does take attendance. With that being said, study your notes and homework for tests because the tests aren't that easy!
She reads from the slides the entire class, and the tests are 80% of your grade, which is a departmental issue, yet she even admitted when we got our second test grades back that she went over the material too fast, yet kept our grades as is, knowing its 80% of our grade?? Need to go to class to get material, does not put slides up online.
Prof. Cimino is really caring and she did a good job of teaching. Yes she goes a little fast but that's when it's your responsibility as the student to study outside of class. She is easy to talk to and relatable. She does not like talking or packing up early so you have to be respectful. I am not a math person but I have done well in this class!
I have STAT 110 with her and lets just say I would not recommend taking this class at all. She basically teaches off of a slide show which makes everything difficult and harder to understand . Shes also not accessible outside class which is another con . In conclusion if you have to take this class please find another professor
Cimino is a very funny professor and somehow made an 8:30 am bearable. The fill-in-the-blank notes are all posted on blackboard so just print those before class that day. Kinda had to teach myself some of the later chapters because she only did one or two example problems on the board. There's very easy online homework every week or so.
Cimino does not care at all if you pass and is rude. This isn't her full time job so she doesn't have any background experience in teaching and quite frankly doesn't know how to teach. Moves way too quickly through the notes. Only accessible outside of class through "online office hours" and didn't respond to e-mails. Don't take this class.
Dr. Cimino is a fair professor. She makes it very clear what her expectations are at the beginning of the semester and is not going to go out of her way to fix your mistakes. I'm terrible at math and I was able to pull a B+ from the class even with skipping a bit. Also, DO THE iCLICKER! It makes a HUGE impact on your grade.
Ignore all of the bad reviews, I LOVED Professor Cimino. I've never taken stat before and I fully understood every topic she taught. She is always open for questions, so ASK THEM! Print out the notes before going to class and they'll be really helpful when studying for exams. 10/10 would take again.
Decent teacher, just show up to class to get the notes and take the quizes online, half of the test questions are from the quizes. just do well on the first three exams and you finsh class 3 weeks early becasue you can opt out of the final. gives extra credit when you show up to class
Horrible opening jokes start off this horrible class. Save yourself some time and patience because Dr. Cimino is to busy and relies on teacher aids.
3 tests. Show up to most classes and fill in notes and you dont have to do much out of class work. There was a cheating issue on the 1st test and Cimino was really unhappy about it so wasnt always in the best mood with our class, rightfully so. Do what youre supposed to and youll get an A. I bombed 3rd test so I took optional final.
Ms. Wendy is very knowledgable about what she teaches and wants to see students succeed. Being a large lecture, it's hard to have individual time with her to review some material so don't take her if you need a lot of one-on-one instruction. There are 3 mandatory tests, one optional final that replaces the lowest test, plus a lot of clicker points.
Professor Cimino was very clear how the class would be from the beginning. There was homework almost every week and a few tests that were weighted heavily (also no partial credit). She wasn't always in a bad mood but when she was class was not enjoyable. Attendance wasn't mandatory but she'd randomly select people at the end of class for attendance
The class itself wasnt so bad, it was mainly just her. She moves ENTIRELY too fast through the chapters. There would be some days we would go through 3 chapters in 1 class. She is definitely not approachable, and not nice. I made sure I did all my work on time and studied, thats how I got an A, but it was hard.
The work is not that hard but she is terrible. Her ability to teach and enable learning is non-existent. Moves far too quickly through lectures, and if she's in a bad mood you will learn nothing. When the class went online, she simply posted all the notes and provided no guidance or instruction. If you actually want to learn statistics, avoid her.
