She knew her material and didn't make me feel inferior for being in a class. She helped instead of lectured. Comfortable learning environment
Easy to understand, very helpful and enthusiastic
With her as a teacher, I never felt rushed. She ALWAYS makes herself available to help you, even if it is a weekend, you can always email her and she will get back to you ASAP!
She is fair and honest about grading. She isn't too easy but she is awesome in her teaching methods. She gives out quizzes every week and several tests (which are often difficult if you don't study) but if you miss a test, you can make it up. She's great.
Excellent teacher, very helpfull and great teaching practices, I felt like I understood the material after she taught it. Thank you:)
Excellent experience! She was hard and expected a lot from her students. If you didn't know what you were doing all she needed was for you to verbalize what you didn't understand and she would explain it to you very clearly with GREAT visuals! I'm a high school Junior and I found her hilarious!!
Great teacher, uses good methods to understand the material, but the exams are tough. Comprehensive final, grading homework, make up quizzes
Statistics is so much different from casual math, so I owe Wendy my greatest thanks for making this class interesting, funny and of course challenging. She is very fair when it comes to grading and she gives credit for completing the homework.Finals are comprehensive, but you will get a study guide and there won't be any surprises. I highly recommend
Wendy is the greatest teacher ever. I spent my math 20, and math 60 class with her. she is the best! I'm sad that I can't take math 65 with her because she's teaching during the day and I can only take night classes :( Wendy is the greatest!
She was definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. You are quizzed daily but they prepare you for the chapter exams. She expects a lot, yet she gives you the tools to reach those expectations.
Wendy has made my math experience a wonderful experience. She is the BEST instructor ever. Wendy makes sure that you understand what she is teaching and is always available to help, even on the weekend! She ROCKS!!
Wendy is the best math teacher at PCC. I took her as a freshman for mth 60, 65, now that im in Mth 254 i really understand how great of a teacher she is. I only wish she would teach upper level math classes. She is helpfull and not moody towards her students and her exams are tough but reasonable.
Wendy was the best math teacher I've had so far. She takes the time to explain things that you may not understand. Her daily quizzes really helped out a lot in checking your knowledge of the material and I liked that for examples she would use problems straight out of the book. I would highly recommend Wendy for your next math class!
She is great, clear lectures, fair expectations and fun class time.
Good class good information
Wendy is awesome, the best instructor i have had at pcc so far. she is extremely helpful and will do anything she can to help her students succeed. i highly recommend her classes, i took her for math 60, 65, 95 and even took 111c which wasn't required for my degree just because she was teaching it.
Wendy is a GREAT instructor! She is extremely dedicated to making sure that her students do well in her class as long as they put the effort in to do it. She is always available to provide extra help if it is needed. She tells you up front what you need to do to be successful in her class. I would HIGHLY recommend taking any of Wendy's math classes
really helped me get math for the first time ever.
It's like she gets bored half way through what she is telling you and says "do I really need to finish this or is that enough". If I didn't want to know all of it I wouldn't have asked the question.
I didn't care for her or her teaching style. I thought that she was often snippy with the class. However, she did show some examples on the whiteboard (and yes she sometimes said asked if it was OK not finish showing the problem). Overall, I wouldn't recommend this class.
Wendy tries very hard to be helpful if she sees you are trying. She does tend to move quickly through the subjects, if you're lost you're lost.. She makes time available outside of class which is helpful.
Wendy is a great teacher. Yes - she does ask if she should finish it - but only because the student has figured out their problem. And maybe the person who says she only teaches a portion of the material should come to class more often and pay attention. She is thorough and doesn't stop the whole class. Almost begs you to come in for help.
I took Wendy last Spring for Mth 60 online. I was impressed with how quickly she replied to emails and discussion posts. Everything you need to know is in the syllabus - but you have to read the syllabus! I suspect that the last writer did not do this.
She is very nice but goes through chapters way fast and does not teach everything that is needed. She only covers in class a very small part of what is done during homework. I think she is not used to teaching such a large class as we had (30 plus) She needs to slow down big time.
Ugh, so much frustration with this teacher! I guess the one that really stands out is how much of the final grade it dependent on the final itself. I think I'd rather save my sanity and take someone else.
Wow great teacher! She can be a little quick through the lessons but she really cares about her students. The homework can be a pain. She asks us to come in for help. She almost begs even. Pay attention in class and if you do the homework you should be fine.
Rushed through explanations of important material in-class and spent too long explaining unimportant information. If I had not had previous calculus experience I almost certainly would've struggled. Having the willpower to actually read the text and do the homework helped far more than the examples and powerpoints given during lecture.
She goes toooooooooooo fast!
Wendy is the best, plus she is an excellent instructor as well. She is firm yet fair, and is always engaging (she claims she is not a math-geek, but I kind of think she is). I highly recommend her to anyone that is making math their career. You will learn the right way (sometimes painfully) how to do math. She wont hold your hand or powder your fanny, but if you genuinely put the effort in, she will go out of her way to ensure you learn the subject.
I took Ms. Fresh's online MTH 60 class. Her lessons were very understandable. She was a very helpful teacher.
I took Wendy last fall, and I was so lucky to have her as my instructor. She is an amazing instructor. Her lessons are well explained and I never left class feeling confused or lost. Her lectures are easy to follow. Her exams are a bit challenging, but I appreciate her approach to challenging her students. She is a solid instructor!!
Best math experience ever. You are taught everything you need to know it is up to you to use it. You will get thorough examples and chances in class. The pace is driven by you so if you don't speak up it's your fault. She is always willing to dedicate extra time to helping you just ask!! If you participate you will learn more than you bargained for
Too hard and wasn't very forgiving with her online class. Its hard to keep up during the summer when you are working and taking other classes. She was unclear and unhelpful and this class was a waste of my hard earned money and my time.
Not sure what the person before me is talkng about. It's an online class! She provides the material and it is up to us to do it. If she was on vacation, I never knew it because she always answered any question I sent within 24 hours. Awesome teacher - very helpful and prompt in responses.
Great teacher, super nice and helpful.
Pretty clear outline. Although there were quite of few questions that I asked. It's an online math course. I wouldn't recommend if you struggle with math in general.
Extremely helpful. She will explain things in a number of different ways until you understand. She encourages office hours visits and is concerned with your understanding of the material. Wendy is a great teacher!
She's a great teacher!!!! She's always willing to help. I never felt stupid asking her a question.
She was a very difficult teacher if you aren't good at math. She rarely does examples or spends much time on helping students. I would only recommend her if you are self sufficient in mathematics.
Wendy is a great teacher. But don't take this class if you're looking for the easy A. Yes, you will have to work and yes, she will help you. But it about learning for her and not just passing you on.
Awesome class.spends all of class making sure her class understands the hw With Mrs Fresh it is all about EFFORT. She is a great teacher that sets her students up for success. I highly reccomend anyone who has to take any level of math to take her class. She truly makes math 111 as easy as possible. and shes SO NICE. Very flexible with extra help.
Wendy is a great instructor. She responds to messages within a reasonable amount of time. She guides students through mistakes in an attempt to help them learn from those mistakes. She pays attention to detail.
Wonderful teacher. She explains everything very well and is clear on what is expected. Show up. Do all your homework. 111 is challenging.
She is horrible. Took her online, there are two on campus Exams that do not correlate to the online work. Her examplesand lecture notes are terrible, she responds to emails but they are unclear and not helpful whatsoever. If you struggle with Math do not take her.. she ezpects everyone to get Math the way she does. I was overall very disapppointed.
I thought wendy was great. Clear expectations and exam questions that were like the homework. The people who thought differently may not have done their homework. This is not an easy A but a fair one. You will learn a lot if you apply yourself.
I've been in Wendy Fresh's Math 111 class for several weeks now and have found her to be an excellent instructor. She is thorough, detailed, and cares about her students' success. That does not mean she will give any student a free ride. Math 111 is difficult and the material must be studied as thoroughly as it is taught. I completely recommend her
The tests were very confusing and difficult. when there are multiple "formulas" that you can use to solve a problem, she wants you to use a specific one, but she will not tell you which one to use, and if you don't use the one she wants you to, she marks it as being wrong.
Wendy is very nice and will explain math problems different ways. IF YOU ASK! There is a lot to cover so she does have to go fast sometimes. but you can go to her office or she does work in the tutoring center. This class is not easy, but Wendy does all she can to help.
Great!!! Very clear, exams are what you would expect, very helpful. Linear, logical lectures, easy to follow. I have no clue how anyone could give her a poor rating. My advice: don't take math as an online course.
Fantastic Teacher, I've take trig twice before, and she is the only one who has gotten my brain to understand it. if she tough higher level math, i would definitely take it from her!!! Tough material, but she makes it easier.
GPA killer. Uses vocabulary that was not taugh in class or in HW on tests. Quizzes hurt your grade more than help. Quizzes set up in a way that if you miss one answer a C is the best result that can be obtained. All three test including the final are almost impossible to complete in the alotted time. Would never take her class again.
Very good teacher, will find a way to explain concepts so that you can understand them. Her guided notes are awesome. Always willing to help if your willing to ask for it. Only frustration I had was the final, best thing I can say is just because the mid terms were easy doesn't mean the final will be... Study hard!
Wendy is great! Her tests and quizzes are hard, but if you've done your homework and reviews you should be fine. Quizzes are just like homework problems. I wish she was teaching calculus this term:( She's funny too! Recommend!
quizzes, a midterm and a final were really hard. a very nice teacher and willing to help . She explained the materials really fast, and there are often times when she loves to go over the last 3 or 4 pages in the last 30 mins of the class. NOT RECOMMENDED her !!
She is a great teacher and makes the concepts very clear and easy to understand. Even better if you are planning on continuing to calculus because she knows a lot about that and will make pointers on what concepts will be carried on into calculus.
Unless you have 10 hours a week to dedicate for her class (lectures, classwork, notes, hw, etc.), do not take it. It's a work overload and I'm not exaggerating. However, if you do happen to have those 10 hours a week, go ahead and take her. She's very helpful and explains concepts very clear, it's just a lot of work.
I have mixed emotions regarding this teacher. I think she does a great job explaining the concepts very well, however with that said, her tests are extremely hard. Her tendency of picking the most trickiest problems is common place on tests. Doing the massive amounts of required homework will not guarantee you will pass her tests.
Wendy is a great teacher. She comes prepared to class each day and uses all class time to teach and let students do examples. Besides this, she is funny and approachable. Always willing to help. Tests are only hard if you don't do your homework. No surprises.
Best teacher I've had so far at PCC. Her guided notes are incredibly helpful. Tests are difficult, but fair. Put in the work & ask if you need help before each quiz/test. She is available to help if you're struggling. A tough class for many and not an easy A, but a great opportunity to learn.
Love her! This is a hard class but Wendy gives you everything you need to be successful. You will have to work but she's awesome!
Mrs. Fresh, is an absolute great teacher. I'll admit, in the weeks before attending her class, I looked at what some students were saying about her and I was a little intimidated. The class is easy so long you pay attention and do the work. One of the greatest teachers ever. She offers a lot of help and there are many resources given for success.
Attendance is required, but missing a class will not horribly affect your grade. Fast paced, but takes time for questions. Very nit-picky but it is needed for the material. If you struggle in math, take someone else because the class moves very fast.
LOVE HER! She goes out of her way to help and her notes saved me. MyMathLab is really helpful too. It's a hard class, but her tests are doable if you've gone to class and done the homework. No tricks on them. Take her class! You'll be happy you did.
Mrs. Fresh uses notes that she made, and you get to "fill in the blanks" during class. She is amazing. Take her class... I've had a lot of math teachers and have struggled with math in the past: she made the reasons clear for why we do certain things.
I like to think of Wendy Fresh as more of a cheerleader for my online Math class vs a teacher of it. I've had her class twice and she is very encouraging emailing with questions, but if you are having more of a concept issue with a section there is really no help- she can only help you solve a specific problem. Her tests and grading are harsh.
She's a good instructor. If you have a question about math, she has the patience. But make sure to pay attention when she tells you about due dates or grading criteria, because that's where she gets annoyed if people didn't get it the first time. I liked her, though. She's funny.
Fresh has a very ground understanding of what she teaches, and you'll rarely catch her without a clear answer to your question. She is very respecting of the students, offering help when needed and letting you do your own thing so long as you understand the material. I would highly recommend her for any math course you're interested in taking.
Her assignments are not particularly hard but she gives way too much homework. I know hw is required in every class, but the amount she gives is so overwhelming. Sometimes, I just want to quit in the middle of doing an assignment, but I know I cant. I have to do way more in her class than my other classes combined.
She's super nice and very helpful :D
Wendy Fresh is one of the best math teachers that I have had. Her guided notes make following her lectures easy. She's helpful if you see her during office hours or in the SLC. Attendance technically isn't mandatory, as she posts videos of her lectures online, but does she gives pop quizzes during classes that can't be made up afterwards.
Great teacher! I would definitely take her class again. Also, shes pretty great to look at.
Wendy runs a well organized class. There are quizzes, usually one a week. But it is based off the homework and the notes (which she provides, you print off and fill in). If you miss a class, her lectures are on YouTube via links in D2L. Homework is online. Didn't touch textbook once. You need math lab validation code.
I LOVE Wendy, shes amazing and very helpful as an instructor. Dont expect to work her over for some easy A lol, shes particular about the answers on your homework and wont let you slack but hey its math, shes setting you up for success. Shes super intelligent too.
The teacher was great overall, very friendly and helpful, however she kept adding extra bits separate from the textbook. Example: My brain is fried from studying and memorizing geometry formulas as the weeks homework, then find out shed tacked on an entire section of trigonometry!! What is that doing in an Intro to Algebra course?
Wendy is one of the best professors I've had for any subject period, let alone math. She is fair, funny, caring, engaging, interesting and very approachable.
Mrs. Fresh is an amazing professor. She makes sure that every student understands the material and has many different ways to help her students learn. She posts all of her lectures on YouTube for students who were absent or zoning out and she also posts all of the notes on D2L so you can take notes the same way she is.
Wendy is one of my all time favorite teachers. She helped me understand math waaayyy better then i ever did. She will take time to get to know you and work with you one on one. Hands down one of the best teachers i have ever had.
I took her online class. She's a great professor for the two proctored exams she made sure all of the students understood the material. She is great and explaining things and helping the students understand. I would definitely take her class again.
Best teacher I have ever had! Clearly spells out all homework. Only downfall was she graded as a group not individually for homework, which can bite you if you don't check your groups homework. She is super nice and patient!
I took Wendy's online math class. She is great and gives you plenty of material to study with. She is also very clear on what she is looking for in homework assignments/test and organized. I would recommend her no doubt.
Glad I took this course. This new model is the future of education. It allows students various methods of understanding the material. Like any new model, it will take time to fine-tune the program, but asking for help or giving feedback on what WOULD help is the key. Having access to the video is better than any notes I could take in a 2+hr class.
Lots of homework, but they're really worth it as practice for the exams. She makes sure we understand the material like it's on the back of our hand. Has lecture vids for us to watch at home, and then we review/ask q's in class. You gotta work for the A but as long as you do your work, it's doable. Really sweet and caring personality too!
Amazing professor who puts you in control of your own grade. The ability to watch the detailed lecture notes at your convenience was perfect. For a student you likes flexibility and plenty of class time to ask questions and review topics, this was a perfect fit for me. I wish she taught calculus so I could take her again next term!
She was the most approachable professor I've had and she taught the course in a really efficient and fun way. If you're thinking of you taking this course, take it with Wendy. I ended with an 89% and she still give me an A
Amazing teacher, probably my favorite math teacher ever. She makes the subject easy to understand and helps with stress-related math problems. AMAZING
Seems uninterested in developing student interest in math or helping students achieve success. Gives advice on how to study for exams that ends up being a total misdirection from what you actually need to practice. She might be fine for an on-campus class but do yourself and your GPA a favor and pick someone else for online math courses.
I loved Wendy. She responded really fast to email and was always available to help. Best online class I've taken so far and I don't usually like math.
She is literally the sweetest teacher I've ever had. And guys, she's a cutie too. She's encouraging, motivating and helpful. She doesn't sit and lecture the whole time, and you have to do your homework on mylabmath, but it honestly helps you stay accountable with your homework. I would take her for every class if I could.
Online trig with Wendy is a mistake. Wendy is sarcastic in emails and answers questions with the same language as the textbook, which is what you need help deciphering in the first place. She didn't answer my emails about when to schedule an exam and then docked my grade for being two days late, saying "I thought it was fairer than failing you."
Wendy is the best math teacher I've ever had. She is very responsive, helpful, and genuinely cares for her students. There are slight differences in her videos and the way MathLab teaches things, but she acknowledges that and like I said, is very responsive if you need help or clarification. If you are willing to put in the work, you can get an A.
Do not take this instructor. Powerpoint presentations with absolutely no assistance. Took this class online, but attended a class to get caught up. She teaches in class as she does online- no instruction. Review the powerpoints, do assignments and pray you understand. Horrible teacher.
Wendy Fresh was one of the best teachers I've ever had. She got me to enjoy math which has always been my worst subject.
Lots of Kahoot, Jeopardy, and fun! 10/10 would recommend
This teacher is amazing. She will make you enjoy math class. I genuinely look forward to going to math class. If you need to take math 112, take it from her. She is the best math teacher ever.
Wendy is such a fun teacher. The idea of a flipped class kinda scared me but it's so much better than traditional. I love her video lectures and being able to do the homework in class for if you need help. You can get ahead, which really helps when you have other classes to focus on as well. She has a great sense of humor and is truly there for you
Shes a great teacher. I love her style of teaching.
Likes to run her class using the "flipped" method, which is helpful for students (like me) who like to work at their own pace. Lots of kahoots in class as well. Very helpful, funny, and kind. Would definitely take this teacher again.
Wendy is not a regular teacher, she's a cool teacher. The class is a "flipped class" which you watch her lectures at home and do the homework in class. Wendy could misguide/confuse you when asking for help since she expects you to already know the material. Tutoring center is a great place to get help. She's cool and nice but okay at teaching.
Wendy is caring and passionate about teaching and makes trig. fun to learn. She's the best. Take her MTH111/ MTH112 if you can. If you watch the videos, take notes, and do your homework, you will do fine.
Clearly cares about student success. Good video lectures. Funny. Somewhat strict on notation, but fair. Really learned the content. Happy with my grade.
One of the best teachers Ive met!
If you don't have time outside of school to work, this isn't the class for you. She runs the class 'flipped' style so you learn and do a majority of the work before class. That being said her videos are great with lots of examples and clear explanations, they can be very long though. Class time is used for more practice problems. Great prof overall
Currently in this class for Spring 2019 but about to drop. I found myself watching her videos 2 or 3 times but unable to grasp her style of teaching. Let me put it this way, we began the semester with 52 students. There are currently 22 (Including myself)... that's 30 that have dropped. Might be a good class if you've taken pre-cal before.
Wendy is semi-famous in the math world! She is a great teacher with a good sense of humor. I have no problem recommending her to others. She is also very kind and open with her students, I can talk to her about anything. She is available in the Student Learning Center for Tutoring and can arrange personal office hours if need be. 100% Amazing woman
I really liked her online lectures and how she has the class set up. She is a good teacher and has engaging in-class activities. She's also funny in a Facebook mom kind of way. I highly recommend taking her classes
Awful. Needs to understand how to teach students of all learning types. Expectations are ridiculously high for a 100 level math class. Did NOT prepare me for continuing on to higher level math courses. Her lectures did not reflect the level of difficulty of the homework, quizzes, and exams--- 2 exams worth 70% of your grade.
A "flipped" class- lectures and homework online (great). Class time for projects, group activities and special assignments with teacher as facilitator. Question and answer time, quizzes and exams. This format requires self-discipline and motivation. Best learning experience I have ever had! Teacher is great, she is a Rock Star!
I had Wendy last term for online Mth 112. Taking any online math class can be rough, but this class was laid out really well and Wendy was always available to ask questions. She responds super fast to emails which I really appreciated. Loved her lecture videos and all the help the online math program gave.
Lazy low volume lectures that are less than 10 mins do not prep you for hours of homework and tests that don't cover what she went over. This class was confusing and more than 2/3 of the class had dropped. I want a strong foundation for future math classes so I am taking it again. Hopefully I get an actual instructor this time around.
She explains things very well, and is happy to work with students in order to help them understand. The flipped classroom allows students to move more at their own pace, and take notes in a way that is more helpful to them in a way that lecture classes usually don't. Would definitely recommend :)
The flipped classroom helps you move at your own pace. She is always happy to help and gives you plenty of time to work in class. I would definitely recommend this class.
Wendy is an amazing professor with a high pass rate for a tough class (trig). Her flipped class model is so great. The lectures are on videos and I LOVE how much detail she's able to get into during them. If you make sure you watch the videos, take notes (which she provides to fill out) and do the homework then trigonometry will be totally doable!
You do your learning online and you get used to the format and the way things are done online. Then, you go to your test and it's completely different. The test matches closer to the book, but still different. She gives you an easy 1 pg practice test, then the tests are about 8 pages of different material. She's VERY picky on details, unforgiving
I love Wendy! She is my favorite math professor. I like the way she teaches the class. You watch her lectures at home online and work on problems with her. Afterwards, you do similar problems on your own. In the class we had activities. If you work carefully through everything she gives you, you shouldnt have any problems to succeed in this class.
Wendy has a great flipped teaching model, meaning you watch the lectures before class and then do the HW problems and examples together in class. This class is extremely time consuming, but she makes it easy to succeed if you put in the work. She is very helpful outside of class and really cares about her students success.
Very nice caring person. Flipped class, which I really like. Remote. I agree with another review--your tests make or break your grade, mine dropped a whole letter due to the final. Get your homework in on time--doing it late takes a toll on your grade, more than you'd think! Might take her again, if I had to take another math class.
Get ready to teach yourself all of the material. She is incredibly nitpicky, even if your answer is right she'll mark you down for incorrect format. Should've dropped when I had the chance.
Wendy has been my math instructor for two separate math classes. I definitely recommend her as an instructor. The online class is very well thought out, and provides clear instruction including a variety of helps. Her love of teaching, and ability to provide a lot of encouragement, has made the difference in my success.
DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR. I took Math 112 with Wendy Fresh, 12 students dropped within 3 weeks. She gives you 8-9 assignments per week including two quizzes per week. You will be surprised that all homework is only worth 30% of grade, and 3 exams worth 70% of the grade. I took this class based on her rate of 4.2 but I am warning you DO NOT FALL!
100% agree with the most recent reviews of Wendy for this class. Do NOT take this class in the summer. It's only 8 weeks long and the workload is just tragic. There are 3 exams and none of the practice or review material preps you for them whatsoever. She seems very nice but I won't be taking another math class from her if I can avoid it.
Her summer class was a mess. 3 exams, but none of the work or the reviews prep you for it. Overall I was stressed trying to do my best. As nice as this teacher seems, she doesn't do a good job at explaining things differently if you ask, and just kind of repeats what was already said. I plan to avoid this teacher, and I suggest you do too.
Wendy was great. I took her summer term which was a lot but she was always there if I needed it. Lots of homework but it gets you ready for the tests. Tests seem straight forward. Im in calculus now and was definitely prepared for it.
I did about half the homework in the first week and she forcibly dropped me from the class early in 2nd week as a no show, after giving me 3 hours to respond to a threatening email. Homework is only 10% of the class grade, so could still earn 98%+. She treated me cruelly for no reason. I needed the class and had health reasons to not finish hw.
Fresh is great. I took her for 112 remote this term at 7:30am. I was dreading it that early, but she made it fun and I learned a lot plus she records them so you can watch them later or again. Tests are straight forward if youve done the homework and exam reviews. Show up, ask questions, do the work and youll do fine!
I was one of the students who dropped this class this summer and it had nothing to do with the instructor. It was an 8 wk class and too much for me with all of the pandemic changes. The fall term is a 12 wk class so I have more time to balance full time work and homework. Wendy is very responsive and helpful- just ask! I've learned so much!
Lots of focus is put on tests but she makes sure you're prepared for them. She's willing to help you with almost anything (including hw questions but also like if you need to plan a study schedule) if you communicate with her. Flipped class, but remote classes were used for questions/practice. Do the work, a 20% on hw is better than a 0.
Great class and Wendy is amazing, however a ton of work. 2 weekly quizzes and 3 exams throughout the term plus a fair amount of homework. I will say that the heavy workload did pay off on exams. Would take again.
This math class was hard, but I loved having Wendy as a professor!! I felt like her outline was easy to follow and well organized, and I found her very helpful. I emailed her often and she always got back to me.
After 8 weeks of working hard (50 this course alone) both exams FAIL. THEN baselessly accused of cheating?! Take math anywhere else. I only learned the material from the textbook and the required material. I did NOT cheat so from one student to another dont work hard following the rules then have impossible accusations to defend. Concerning.
I loved how everything was outlined. It was a tough class, but I appreciated the flipped classroom model. She was super helpful. Would highly recommend.
Horrible
Wendy was a great professor. She definitely makes you work for it though and I definitely struggled in the class. However, she always graded assignemnts and exams quickly and got back to you outside of class very fast. I would take from her again because even though she's tough you really learn all the material well.
Professor Fresh was a delight! I loved her flipped classroom model of teaching. I was able to get questions answered during class time. Everything was outlined- grading and schedule were clear. When I would email her, I'd receive a response back fairly quickly. Exams and such were graded quickly. You can tell she really cares about her students <3
TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
Wendy is magnificent as long as you communicate and put the work in - like any teacher or class. Shes kind and understanding and has been available to help with any problems I've ever needed. Her lectures were kind of soothing since she has a Mr. Rogers type voice lol. I highly recommend her class.
Great professor, really caring.
She is great at teaching and she grades super quickly. However, there is a ton of homework and her exams are super hard. she included questions on the exam that were never taught in her lectures. I would not recommend her class if you are going for an A or a B because it's really hard.
I took a condensed 8 week class of hers over the summer and though the work load was alot (about 12+ hours per week) the content provided was really easy to understand and she responds very fast back to my emails. I would not recommend to anyone who is taking a full time job but if you have the time and discipline for it Wendys a great choice.
While I found this to be easily the most difficult course I've taken at PCC, I don't think that it's because Fresh is a bad professor. In fact, Fresh is a great professor that truly cares about her students' well-being. I don't think her teaching style necessarily worked for me in an online setting, but that may have been different in-person.
I withdrew from her class halfway through the term. I would watch the videos and think "okay this is challenging but it makes sense" and then I'd start the problems and was completely lost. There were MANY times where her videos didn't cover the following concepts AT ALL. It was very confusing and hard to keep up. Seems really nice though.
I think Wendy's course set-up made it so much easier to comprehend the information and learn. She is very accessible and flexible to zoom with you individually. Her video lectures addresses the why's and nuances that I just don't see in my other classes. Clearly from years of answering student questions. At times a hefty amount of work.
very good teacher, pretty difficult class. requires a lot of good time management. a few assignments every week but its very clear when everything is due. I found the exams very difficult.
Professor Fresh explains things very well. The hybrid class has 2-3 lectures every week, one practice and knowledge assignment (due same week), and two quizzes that are due the next week. Remember things for the tests. There are two tests and one final. If you do better on final then other tests, their scores get increased
The class was well organized and easy to follow what was due and when. The main issue I had was that she had SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Due dates on wednesday and friday and almost 120+ questions per due date plus 2 quizzes, notes, and discussions. For someone who works full time and is a full time student, this is not the class for you.
A lot of work. I didn't mind I got in the hang of it, but one bad test score can completely mess up your grade. I had atleast a 90% in every category and I was confused about expectations for the final and ended up getting a low score that dropped me two letter grades. Material doesn't prepare you for the difficulty of the test, I always felt lost.
I would highly recommend professor Fresh because she is very thoughtful, patient and super helpful. I had a great time learning and she is the best professor I have ever had! Her video lectures explained everything in detail and they made the material easier to understand. She is friendly, willing to help, and always responses quickly!
I took Fresh's class because she seemed to get really good feedback. I got a good grade but had a really hard time with her teaching style. The video lectures weren't very clear and it felt like she was just reading from the textbook, which I had a hard time contextualizing. She was very strict about due dates and assigned A LOT of work.
she assigns wayyyy too much homework. she explained that her class is a "flip" class. I am sitting here on my first week feeling suffocated. all learning is done on your own through mylab. shes unreasonable to expect 18 hours of homework a week. this is a hard class to take if you are an individual with a family, bills, or even a job.
Professor Fresh is a remarkable teacher. You can tell that she is very experienced and cares greatly about her students. Unfortunately, I have a full schedule, so I didn't have enough time to participate in class actively. Although there is a LOT of work to be done, Professor Fresh clarifies what's expected as long as you're willing to commit!
AWFUL! Starts week 1 expecting you to know what she's talking about w/out a single explanation as to what a radian is or how we calculate them, no intro to the terminology, in her week 2 video she says "since we have the unit circle memorized..." EXCUSE ME?! No one would have that memorized after 1 week. Go watch tons of videos 1st if you take her.
I loved this class with Professor Fresh! She makes sure the class understands topics/ questions before moving on. There is a lot of content, so make sure to stay on track otherwise you could fall behind, but the content isn't hard. There is group/ partner work which I was afraid of first but helped tremendously. I would definitely recommend her!
I really enjoyed this class and the homework and the videos were super helpful. It was just enough weekly work to learn the material but not so much as to be overburdened and burned out by. The high score quizzes were helpful also since they could be taken as much as needed/wanted. Assignments and grades were posted in timely manner.
She is an amazing professor. Since it's a trig class and applies throughout 112~, you're expected to study/memorize the unit circle starting week 1. I have no complaints about it! She is caring, and understanding, and helps students who reach out for help. Focus on exam1,2 reviews and those are mostly from Learning&practice assign. TAKE her class!!
I had a hard time with Wendy's teaching style. The video lectures weren't very clear and they didn't give enough examples. There is a weekly quiz, two midterms, and a final. She WILL NOT let you make up a weekly quiz. However, she will drop one quiz with the lowest grade. I would not take this teacher if you struggle with math.
Wendy does an amazing job of making the EXTREMELY hard class of MTH112!!! I would highly recommend taking Wendy Fresh for the class of precalc 2. be prepared for the hardest class you will ever take! make sure to take advantage of her office hours!
Professor Fresh has been such a light in the dark. She really cares about her students and their success, and I had the best experience in her class. Professor Fresh inspired me to keep going in my math journey even though I was struggling, and she helped me all along the way. She also explains the why in math not only the how.
Professor Fresh provided ample material for learning the concepts and was very available to students needing help. She is also an excellent communicator, and the expectations for the course were very clear.
Wendy is a great teacher! She helped me throughout the whole term. Without her support I would have not passed the class. She would email me quickly, respond to all my questions, meet me on zoom any chance she could to give me lots of support. She is very nice and great to work with. I recommend taking her class.
Be sure to learn the Unit Circle before class starts, as you are expected to know it by week 2. You must get ahead with the lectures and assignments by at least a few days, or there is no time to study for exams. I am a straight A student but really struggled with this course because of lack of time to absorb new material.
Wendy is a good professor, but if math doesn't "click" for you or haven't taken math in a while, it's very fast-paced. She takes time to explain, but if you're unable to complete before-class assignments (2-4 hours), you are screwing up your entire classwork/testing flow. This is in consideration to other classes in students' schedules.
Definitely recommend Wendy! She has very clear and well-put-together lectures. If you fall there will be a lot of stress for you but she's gracious and works with you through it. I would 100% take her classes again because catching up is very feasible if you manage your time, and on the spectrum of professors I've taken from she's one of the best!
She is a tough grader and will minus a whole point if you forget to add a degree symbol. She does warn you that she will do that though. There is one quiz every week and 3 big exams.
The professor's organizational skills benefit the course structure, but time management challenges impacted my learning experience. The teaching style, which felt like a lot in a short amount of time, wasn't suitable for me. If you grasp math swiftly or have a good amount of time to invest, enrolling with her might be ideal.
Sometimes lectures were hard to follow and I had to reference other videos for help. But the class is very structured same type of assignments due every week, discussion post, quiz, learning assignments and practice assignments. Exams are proctored over zoom and take around 2.5 hrs to complete.
If you do the work, you will pass the class. Wendy has awesome lecture videos with corresponding packets for each exam to break everything down. Wendy is also great at response times via email, and grades things very quickly. She's also always willing to work with you on times to meet on Zoom if you need extra support.
Wendy was nice but the problems she assigns between lecture videos made little to no sense. She will explain how to do a simple problem in the video great, then has you do a very complex version of it without any guidance leaving you to research how to do it on your own. It was like teaching someone how to do 2+2 then telling them to do algebra.
Wendy was great. I don't find math to be a particularly difficult subject, and Wendy was a great professor. Do the work, and you'll do fine. Reach out to her if you have questions and she's great at answering.
Professor Wendy is organized, but the fast pace and strict grading may not suit everyone. However, the structured assignments and helpful video lectures make the class manageable. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep.
Unfortunately I had a poor experience that resulted in a low class grade. I got sick with the flu for two weeks at the beginning of the quarter and she gave me no grace. As the quarter proceeded, she not only graded me harshly but also put excessive limits on homework. She was harsh and unwilling to work with me towards my success.
Class material is interesting, & she cares a lot about the success of her students. She is approachable, understanding, and really wants to take things apart to help you understand. She is also very straight-forward and honest. She is direct about expectations and why she assigns the amount of work she does, which can be a lot, but effort is key!
I cannot say enough great things about this professor. Provided fantastic structure and supporting materials (including great videos) for this online class. Great support for students. Clear grading/expectations, great feedback. A tight timetable keeps everyone on track. Creates an environment of support and accountability for our efforts.
As a person, she is very nice and approachable and will be more than happy to help you through a problem you don't understand. As a teacher, she is strict with grading and dumps a bunch of work on you every week. If you want to try and negotiate with her because you were sick or something, you will be met with a shrug and a 'better luck next time'.
As good as it gets for an online class. It is incredibly structured. There are lecture videos where you take notes together, then various assignments throughout the week to practice and retain the concepts. Effort is incredibly important to succeed in this class. Wendy has weekly office hours and is available by appointment if you have questions
such a strict grader, I got points taken off because I didn't redraw my triangle to make the sides match the numbers. I got all the answers right just didn't match the triangle to my answer. The whole class got points taken off. If you aren't the best at math DO NOT take her. You're giving equations where you have to figure it out yourself.
If you are not naturally good at math, don't take class with Wendy. She can be nice as a person, but as a teacher she is a tough grader and doesn't show mercy. All the lectures are videos online, making it basically a hybrid class, and she doesn't really actually teach in class.
Wendy records all the lectures and assigns them as homework. As long as you do this, you'll be able to participate in class with questions and group work over the harder stuff. I loved the class, and liked the clear feedback she gave as well as the clear way she grades. I wasn't looking for an easy A though. I wanted to learn math and I got that.
