Very good teacher!
GREAT teacher! 3 in-class quizzes(easy essays & she gives the questions to you b4 the test),5 hw assignments (short answers),3tests(multiple choice)..just study lecture n ull get an A!
she tells you what's going to be on the quizzes. multiple choice tests are a little confusing. you have to be very detailed with your answers. other then that she's easy.
so good.. shes so rad
The class is awesome - she's a good teacher.
talked about her divorce more than the subject material. compared 9/11 to the holocaust. very disrespectful to anyone with an opinion different than hers. smokes like a chimney and is late to class because of it.
i guess she was real busy suing every body else (even the school) for fun,she is unhelpful, and hard to talk to. if she does not like you, GOOD LUCK.
She is so funny and I actually enjoyed learning in her class. I never even fell asleep!
she was ok.
I learned alot from this course. She's a good teacher.
She taught me alot and seemed to enjoy her job. Just do the required work and you'll do fine on the tests.
her "charm, helpfullness, and kindness" are fallacious, her tests consists of 75 lengthy mc questions, her homeworks make you basically reword everything in the text; however, if you do your part, you'll at least get a B...haha
Her lectures were interesting and she seemed to love her subject. Be prepared when you come to class and never add a comment unless you know the material, otherwise she will make an example of you.She hates tardiness and those who leave early.
Shes Horribleeee,, she never helped me when I asked her questions, and she's very absent minded.
very biased individual. all of her tests and hw assignments consist of straight plagerism. she never is there to answer questions and is always late to class.
Wendy is no problem if you DO YOUR WORK. If you don't well you'll fail. As to he rno being helpful she even offered to let me bring my 6 year old son to class w/ me one day - it was a topic he was interested in... seems you just have to interest her.
Meh, you'll most likely get a B, no matter how much you think you studied.
Her lecture is very interesting, but it's hard to get A in this class even if you study really hard.
she is always late at least 10 mins smoking outside. she never ever came to class on time then complains if u come late or leave early. she is totally lost in teaching, never helps out or answers questions, has no clue to what is going on.
she was a hard grader. her homework is basically rephrasing the textbook, same for her quizzes. her tests are multiple choice, and you have to study hard for them - she will ask detailed questions.
very unhelpful
Really cares about students. Gives study guides for tests and goes over what she expects out of the quizzes, so as long as you do your part, study and pay attention to details, you should be fine. Lectures are great -- you'll learn a lot from her class!
well she's not the best teacher in the world but i guess she's one of those teachers you have to work hard. She is NOT open minded person and was very insensitive to some of the students.
There are a lot of negative rating about Wedy here but I enjoyed her class. She was a very nice lady and teaches with good detail. I think you can get an A or B if you go to all the classes and take notes. Her tests are all from notes and studyquestions.
Not so good :(
looking for a challenging class that's supposed to be easy? u got it! most ppl get a B or lower, some get A's not much though. for each quiz u write 3 essays that u were supposed to create and memorize in order to study for the quiz.
she is very clear and she can be pretty fun. She has a laid back attitude that makes you feel comfortable asking questions and making comments.
EASY CLASS!!! not much studying involved (like math, bio,& chem classes). just do the hw, memorize a few essay questions, and get an EASY A!!! unless you dont wanna do ANY work. but if you do a little work, youll get an A!!!
Gr8 teacher, makes the class fun, but you have to work for your A.
Of course the Anthro 2 (cultural anthro) is going to be easier than Anthro 1... Wendy is tough on tests and expects you to memorize the book. She's pretty good about helping you when you need it, but study hard for the tests.
Great teacher. The class is very well structured and you will definitely learn and remember a lot from writing and memorizing the essays. She has a funny sense of humor and has a lot of knowledge so the class is interesting.
complicated hw, hard quizzes(only hard b/c u have to make 3 essays based on readings and memorize all 3 per quiz) and long but manageable tests. but ok personality most of the time. Can get very rude and insensitive during moody days.
She is a rude careless teacher, I have ever met.
often treats students like they r inferior to her...lectures r fine however u need to really work hard in her class b/c of difficult hw, quizzes, and tests
most community college anthro classes aren't this hard
This class is very hard if you don't read your textbook and not showing up in class. She writes a ton of notes on the board. If you know your stuff, her hw, quizzes, and tests aren't that hard. Overall, she is a pretty good professor.
seems vacant a lot of the time, always questioning if what she writes on the board is correct. Unprofessional. You're better off just teaching yourself with the book, this teacher does nothing to help.
This class is facinating! Gabriella is very clear explaining exactly what you need to do to get an 'A.' But remember, this is college-if you don't come to class, read the text, and study, of course you will fail. Gabriella requires you to know a little bit about anthropology. Is that too difficult?
she's ok
I have learned so much in her class. She is a good professor. Her notes are very clear, but you need to read the book in order to do well, and pay attention. Slackers will not do well in her class, because she is tough on attendance andhomework. However, the knowledge received is worth it.
Her notes were easy to follow, but she isn't a helpful teacher. She was always at least 15 minutes late and was quite often rude to students.
I am happy with her. While she is every busy with other things in her life she is still a great teacher. She has some of the best teaching skills of any teacher i have had. You will retain most of the information she gives you and she has no surprises. While she is not very personal she is friendly.
Rude, scatter-brained and a poor speller. Phys Anth is naturally fascinating but this teacher sticks to a fixed body knowledge - seemed oblivious to the latest developments in the field. Stalled on questions not pertaining to her understanding of anthropology. An arbitrary grader-watch out.
She can be snobby, selfish, irresponsible, and rude a lot of time. Bottom line is she doesn't care about her students except and she should really consider helping her students more by staying longer after class to answer questions and such. But leaves class really early to smoke.
please dont take her. she is terrible. I swear to god i have a GPA of 4.00. I took her class for CR/NCR, she gave me at firt non credit. she didnt even wanted to listen to me and accept her mistake. she doesnt care about students.this was the hardest class i have ever passed.
Want a challenging class which should actually be way easier? Well then here's your opportunity to take it with a insensitive/tough lawyer. i agree with the previous 2 comments. doesn't give a rat's ass about most students. If you are lucky she won't screw up on your grade.
she smokes she late...her test are only easy if you know somebody who has taken the class and has the test. she leaves the classroom during the test which gives you people opporutunity to do whatever you want.
i actually heard she quit smoking. the class really isnt that bad but you do need to come to class everyday. she tells you what to memorize for your quiz and it really helps out. im not an anthro person but the class was pretty decent.
she is very unprofessional, she always talk on the phone during the lectures. And her tests are difficult, no extra credits. She is always late to class, she is not responsible at all !!
This was a totally average professor. Lectures were not very interesting but the texts kind of were. The class was too difficult for an elective type course. She has a "bitter" aura about her. I think she might hate men.
I found her teaching abilities very good so good that I took her twice. She isn't out to be your friend so that teachers studnts to be independent and responsible for thier own education. Very helpful when a student needs her and ASKS for help. She will stay after class to answers questions and keeps office hour appointments. Passionate teacher!
This class requires a decent amount of work. Tests are not too hard. Despite the fact that each multiple choice test consists of 70 questions, expect to finish well under an hour, that is IF you study reasonably long enough. You just need to come to class, READ the textbook, and READ the journal articles. Decent class and teacher overall.
She's sorta unreasonable cause she doesnt really give a crap about how you do. The notes are clear, but the tests are kinda tricky (with vague questions).
She is such a cool teacher, this is the second class I've taken with her. I find her lectures very interesting and the tests and quizzes are way easy, she freaking GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS! Just memorize them! And she's way nice and funny.
terrible,terrible,terrible.
Material is interesting, but tests seem to deviate from the topic. If you read your stuff you'll do well, other wise.... good luck.
Professor Gabriella is the best pedagogue in the world. She should call her daughter's father more often - but otherwise, she's flawless.
Very thorough/descriptive lectures. If you take good notes and study before the tests, you'll do great.
Prof. Gabriella knows her stuff really well and explains thoroughly. Don't take summer school (Anth1) unless your ready to take lots of notes and memorize a whole lot in little time. She gives you the quiz questions beforehand so you pretty much know the answer before taking the quiz. Tests are pretty hard though.
I loved this class! A wonderful alternative to Biology! Take this class. But beware, you will have to memorize a lot of material in a short amount of time. It's nothing that anyone can't handle, however. You will be looking at a lot of skulls, but after awhile you become innured. I like Prof. Gabriella's old fashioned teaching style.
this has to be the best class i've ever taken at ivc. she has really interesting lectures. pretty much just go to class take notes and use her study questions. be careful tho bout the test about kinship(make sure u attend that lecture.)-cost me an easy A in the class. otherwise i really enjoyed this class. very interesting!!!
Wendy is an excellent professor, and I truly enjoyed her class. I had never expressed an interest in anthropology before, and now it has become one of my favorite subjects. Wendy's class certainly changed my life, and I recommend it to EVERYONE.
The quizzes are a piece of cake b/c u just have 2 memorize the answer that she provides in class, but the tests r the hardest tests I have ever taken! I got a B in the class after working really hard! if you want to maintain your 4.0 gpa like I wanted to, take this class with an easier prof. Also, she is nice but doesnt offer much help.
Too political in class and I almost fell asleep every single day at least ONCE & I'm a 4.0 GPA student. She doesn't teach you anything...she expects you to memorize everything and her tests are unreasonably hard for what the subject is.
Althou I took this class in summer, it was a way cool class. I learned a lot. Wendy is a helpful and funny teacher. If u want to learn something and have a good time, take this prof.
You are paying to be there and she treats you accordingly. You are told what to study and then you are tested on it. If you need someone to hold your hand, she is not for you. If you like to be treated as an adult and can handle a little reading then you will like her. I dig her style... its 100% no B.S. I truly wish more teachers were like her.
she is HORRIBLE she is lost as hell..shes ALWAYS late 2 class & has an anal attitude when it comes 2 class discussions and we dont understand something. she bluntly embarrases people in class without thinking what the hell shes saying..NEVER EVER take her if u dont like being put on the spot. TESTS ARE SO DIFFICULT, believe me no joke..but she is..
she is the best teacher ever! everything is laid out for you, if you don't get an A in the clas then you are retarded! she gives you the answers to the quiz before hand and is extremely sweet.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER. SHE WILL LOSE YOUR TEST SHE SUCKS AT TEACHING AND HER TEST ARE DIFFICULT. SHE IS A FLAKE AND IS ALWAYS LATE FOR CLASS. SO DONT BE ON TIME! SHE SEEMS NICE AT TIMES BUT THEN SHE WILL SNAP AT YOU. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SCORE B/C SHE IS VERY UNORGANIZED! SHE IS IRRESPONSIBLE OH AND SHE ANSWERS HER PHONE DURING LECTURE TIME WISH I T
She is my favorite teacher so far at IVC. Her lectures are interesting and she has a good sense of humor. 3 tests and 3 quizzes, you will know exactly what is on them before hand.
I loved this teacher. She was so helpful and very insightful. But unlike most teachers who are insightful she seems like a real person who is easy to understand and relate to. Plus I thought she was gorgeous which was really distracting cuz i kept catching my self staring at her butt :-/ Sorry Wendy
She is so cool and she is so liberal with us and dont give hard time...
I would not recommend her. She is really nice. But her tests are confusing. But her short essays are easy. But doing poorly on your tests really hurts ur grade. You think you did well on the test, then you get it back and it's a D.
Shes kind of out there a little bet, very liberal, if you love the government DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! she tells you all kind of useless information but its a fun class, you learn about alot of weird stuff, her quizes are easy but her test ask the same question just written differently on every page!
great teacher! she seems a little ditsy but she is very intelligent. very fun, laid back. 3 test 3 quizzes. quizzes are easy but test are really confusing! you wouldnt think that test would be so hard. i enjoyed her enough to take anthro 1 and 2! she is cute for a little lady, her personality makes her hot!
This teacher's quizzes are very easy (she gives you the answers), but her tests are confusing and difficult. She is ditsy but nice. I'd prefer a more organized teacher. She never has enough tests for the class, and she doesn't use the internet.
She was such a great professor. If you take notes and pay attention, the tests are simple and I didn't even have to study more than 15 minutes for each quiz or test. The class is only 3 quizzes and 3 tests, but they are simple if you listen to her lectures!
I took Physical Anthro with her. It was so easy. I got an A. I didnt read the textbook. All I did was attend class everyday and write down everything that came out of her mouth and on the powerpoint slides. That's all you need to do! Have a pen, some paper, and get ready to write. If you dont like to write notes, you will not get an A in her class.
I took her over the summer and it was pretty easy. She gives you three essay-quizzes where she gives you the question and the answers the class before. Her tests are a little tricky but she has 5 extra credit questions. (She has study guide's on blackboard) Also she's pretty good at uploading grades on time. Easy A
She is THE NICEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD! She is so cute. Gives you answers to the quizzes and her tests are really easy. There is no homework other than to study. You will not regret taking her class!
Such a sweet lady! She may come off as a ditzy person, but don't let that deceive you; she knows her stuff and will answer any question about anthro you throw at her. Pay attention to her lectures and you won't need the book at all. No homework. Attendance not mandatory but her lectures are what will get you that A.
she's a little confusing and disorganized. Sometimes seems unsure about the material and how to answer to students' questions, but she is nice and the class is easy. take anth1 for an easy A or B and if you want to take something other than biology
This class is so easy, she is a great teacher who pretty much gives you the answers to the quizzes as well as what will be on the exams. You have to put in real effort to not succeed in this class. plus, its really interesting stuff. Shes great.
She's super nice (smiling all the time) and wants her students to get an A. There are 3 exams and 3 essay quizzes. She tells you how she wants the essays written. All you've gotta do is take good notes and study them. The topic is interesting as well. Cheers to you, Wendy!
The easiest class ever! You must attend every class in order to receive all knowledge needed to do well on tests. Her lecture worth more than textbook.
Nicest teacher ever! Always makes jokes and smiles. The class is very interesting within itself and she just makes it better. Would take it all over again! Just make sure you attend every single class to take GOOD notes. She gives extra credit, so receiving an A shouldnt be too hard!
Had her for anthro 1 before, so I already knew what was expected. Go to class and take notes. An easy A. 3 essay quizzes and 3 tests. For quizzes she gives you the answer in the format she wants it in and what needs to be in it, I don't see how people do poorly on them.
You must attend her class, specially if she is going over a quiz question.. she's a great teacher although i didn't like her quizzes -_-
I tried to get this prof for two semesters and I got in this spring. It was worth it. She is totally great, you'll learn a lot, and laugh a lot. She has a great sense of humor. If you are a guy, sometimes it's a little hard to concentrate cos she's so cute.
If you do not intend on attending this class every day, then do not expect to do well. I know nothing about anthro and got an A because I showed up every day. Her lectures are clear and precise. Everything on the tests are from her lectures and slides. Very straightforward class.
Straightforward, clear teacher. Attend every class, as notes are vital to quizzes and exams. The quizzes are in essay format, but she tells you exactly what should be in it, so it's not difficult at all. Her tests are easy if you study. She's a nice, cheery woman with a sense of humor. Wonderful experience. Take her.
Take this prof. She loves teaching and it shows. She shows up 15 mins before class, shoots the breeze with students and is totally helpful. You can connect with this prof as she is 100% available to assist. She is totally cool. And she is not hard on the eyes. Plus, she's so totally funny. I got a "C" but I laughed everyday. She's right on.
Take this prof. You will learn a ton. She is totally great.
Easy A for me, but I DID attend almost every class. Very nice and helpful teacher, answers all questions. She tells you the textbook is required for a good grade; I bought it, but I never used it. Powerpoints every class. 3 quizzes, 3 tests, 1 E/C quiz. 5 E/C ?'s every test. Take good notes every class & study, you'll get an easy A. Recommended!
RECOMMEND RECOMMEND RECOMMEND. The quizzes seem like a lot of work since they are essays but she gives you the answers in class so pay attention. All you have to do is basically memorize it word for word. Her tests are straight from the lectures so pay attention! If you work hard then you'll get an A for sure! She's great!
Take her class, you'll learn a lot and she's very helpful. You're going to have to pay attention to her and take notes while she lectures because most what she lectures off is on the test. Just don't be lazy and review the notes & you'll be fine.
I LOVE PROFESSOR GABRIELLA! She is so nice and she is good at teaching. She knows what she is talking about and very clear. It was an easy A for me but definitely needs efforts. She will give you the answers for the quizzes. All you have to do it make em into complete sentences. If you are willing to put effort in this class, you will be just fine!
Prof. Gabriella is one of the best teacher at IVC! Her way of teaching is very understandable and clear. The class had 3 essays, which materials to put in essays were given in the class. The tests were very fair and somewhat easy. She tries to make us understand in very easy way! Just attend every class that is all you need to get an A.
Great teacher and super organized. RECOMMEND. I didn't know what to expect and learned a lot. I'm thinking about being an anthro major now. She is very helpful and I met with her a few times. Study guides, power points and practice tests all on blackboard.
Such a sweet professor. Always willing to help you, and has the best interest for her students. If you are a good note taker/listener, this class will not be a problem. For her quiz preparations, write down everything she says. All you have to do is memorize. As for the tests, take advantage of her study guides and extra credit questions. They helped me a lot. I was very pleased with this class.
She is a very fun teacher. Informative and engaging, she made learning anthropology very fun! Be sure to ask questions, because she is great with her explanations. Also she is just too adorable!
This class opened my eyes! I never thought anth could be so interesting. Prof. Gabriella does such a great job of teaching the subject! This class is easy if you do the work but the material isn't challenging. One awesome fact about her is that she's also a lawyer, so she teaches with with clarity and precision! And she's always there to help.
*dont need book. sign in attendance. She is very nice and helpful but a little cooky. Class consists of 3 written quizzes that you just need to memorize the answers to and 3 mc tests. If anthro is your passion/major I think you will need to take classes with other professors to ensure you're getting the right information and a thorough education :/
Loved this class! I was worried about taking a once a week class, but her lectures are really comprehensive. Her metaphors were helpful, especially with the cultural aspects and stuff. For quizzes (essays), she states exactly what you need to write, you just need to memorize! Study hard for exams, but again, just memorization.
She was not a good professor. Got a B but it was not a great class. She does a bad job for her online class. Do not recommend this teacher. Very confusing and unorganized. Anthropology is not easy to learn here.
Very confusing and unorganized. Anthropology is not easy to learn here.
Attendance is mandatory. Always on top of things. GREAT professor. She gives you (or guides) all the answers to the quizzes. Just make sure to read em or else she'll be pissed when nobody understands the topic. You will never read the book. Make sure you to write down what she says as it actually appears on the tests (3) and quizzes (3).
Love prof Gabriella! She is great, I recommend not getting the textbook (I got it for only a dollar on amazon) but just take good notes. Showing up to class is a must. There are essay quizzes but it is simple because she gives you the answer the class before. The material is a little bit harder toward the end of the semester, lots of big words!
Very confusing.
Hands down best professor ever! She is very enthusiastic and clearly loves teaching as her profession and the subject she teaches. If you go to every class, take good notes, and read the articles for article quizzes you are good to go! Recording lectures is a GOOD IDEA (hinthint). Very helpful, clear, and nice :)
Love her!!! Such a sweet lady and she keeps class interesting! Easy class to pass just study for the test and quizzes!
Class is really easy. Textbook is not needed--Textbook only helps with the extra credit questions. Pay attention to lectures. Tests and Quizzes are the main portion of the grade, homework is never assigned. As long as you do the study guides, your tests should be easy. Make sure you look at the practice tests that the professor gives you for tests
Gabriella is a very sweet person. Her lectures are very important. If possible, DO NOT MISS ONE CLASS! It will get you all jumbled up. Each lecture goes over a lot and note taking is a must. Study notes for quizzes. For tests, study notes AND study guides.
This subject does not interest me at all but Wendy makes class very interesting. She basically gives you the answers for the tests and everything is on her power points. Honestly its all up to you to study and review, I definitely recommend taking her class. She's the sweetest lady as well, I loved her! You can tell she's passionate about Anthro.
First of she tells you exactly what is to be expected for her class, there is no confusion when it comes to her quizzes and tests. The reason I received a B is because there is a lot of memorization. Nice teacher, actually has a pretty good sense of humor. I recomend this class for GE only if you can dedicate the time for studying.
Teacher is very clear about what she expects. There is no confusion of what is on her tests and quizzes. The reason I got a B is because there is a lot of memorization. She is nice, and she actually has a pretty good sense of humor.
Not an easy professor, tricks you on the test. I am an A student, but I got a B in this class.
The class is not that hard, but the professor is a little unorganized, and never bothers to reply to her emails. I would recommend to take this class with another professor.
Awesome teacher - passionate and kept my interest even though I don't care about anthro. Go to every class and write down exactly what she says. Multiple choice questions on tests are exactly what she says in class, so there's no surprises. There is one essay before each test that she helps you plan out virtually word for word in class beforehand
She's really a great teacher and has the bonus of being adorable. If you're a guy you might have a hard time concentrating :P
would not recommend her for ANTH 1. i took ANTH 2 with payton and passed the class easily, but for some reason with her, ANTH 1 was difficult. she has a bit of an attitude but comes off "sweet" until you talk to her 1-on-1. voice is a little irritable so be prepared. make sure to take notes during her power points
It is an easy A, if you follow her directions. All materials of tests/essays are from her lecture, you don't really need a book. Tests are alright, all from hw and lectures. Essays must be clear and readable, otherwise 0. Generous w extra credits. She has an attitude, but if you find her niche, you'll be her favorite.
Attendance is mandatory for this class . All tests and quizzes come from the lecture notes so if you miss more than one class you won't be able to pass the class. The teacher is a little careless about her students.
I actually enjoyed the first day of class with her. She was really funny, and her lectures weren't too difficult to understand but on the second day of class, I totally lost it. There was so much to write, and so much memorization for a simple QUIZ! If you want to maintain your GPA, it's best if you DON'T add that class because you will get a B!
Honestly, out of all the antrho teachers shes the best option, but still not a good a pick.Like most have stated, she has an attitude when you ask her something one on one. You have to memorize a lot for your quizzes. I just got back my first quiz grade and i got C. I am A/B student. I really felt like i did very well and know the material very well
if possible do not take her. She can be nice but don't let it fool you, she can be really rude. she gets mad too if you leave early cause the "door is distracting to her teaching" she has you buy the book but its only for extra credit. You cannot! miss her class you will fail a huge section of the test if you miss. overall, avoid if possible.
Wendy is really sweet, and makes the material easy to understand. As long as you show up, take notes, and aren't annoying or rude, you will pass. There aren't very many points available in her class, so take every quiz/test seriously! The book really isn't necessary to purchase. It'd just waste $30 bucks to purchase it.
ATTENDENCE IS MANDATORY!! 99% of the lecture isn't on the ppt's so you have to attend class. plus she gives the answers to the quizzes in class so you need to attend for those as well. as a person she's ok, and she teaches the material well, although she needs to work on her spelling skills. unless you want to attend every class then look elsewhere
This professor was the worst professor ever! She is no help, and makes all of the tests super hard. Also, the tests are different than what she says in the lecture. I've been at this school for two years and she is the worst professor I've taken!
While Professor Gabriella has good knowledge about cultural anthropology, she is lacking knowledge in technology and how to teach a class. I started this class hoping beyond hoping that she wouldn't be as bad as everyone else has said. I was wrong. Please don't take her online class. Not only was it difficult but the amount due each week was crazy!
Very nice. She gives good lectures on very interesting topics. Very little point opportunities. She gives 3 exams and 3 essay quizzes. For the quizzes she gives you the outline and all you have to do is memorize it. Her tests are average difficulty. To succeed, attend and take good notes and pay close attention. She is very nice and a good teacher.
Gives all the answers to the essay quizzes, but many of the "practice tests" on her blackboard have incorrect information (which she won't mention unless you ask). Uses 'none of the above' and 'all of the above' options on her test, which is frustrating because many of the concepts learned are subjective. Very vague and poorly worded questions.
Wendy is the best. I've never retained so much information from a class before. She is always repeating herself so it sticks. Tests are average difficulty but she gives you the questions and the answers to the quizzes. I had a lot of fun in this class.
Her online class was terrible. Assignments every week usually are articles and grades harshly on the details. Tests are a bit confusing and tough. Terrible in technology. You must save all the answer before going on to next question or it will be marked wrong. Do not recommend this teacher
EXTREMELY RUDE! Calls you out in class if you leave because "it's distracting to her teaching", you MUST attend all classes or you will fail, write down every single thing she says during class or you will fail, if you can, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. She always seems to be in a bad mood. Very unorganized, too. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult.
I really enjoyed her lectures, she was enthusiastic and discussedexpanded on more than just what she had on her PowerPoint, unlike a lot of professors I've had. She is also funny and adorable, but not afraid to talk about debatable issues.
This teacher is an extremely hard grader. The lectures that she gave during the class were not helpful and didn't really relate to the material in the book. Most of the tests are based on what's in the book, so don't forget to read every single page of your book and take notes. If you can avoid this teacher I would.
I took Wendy in the summer for anthro 1 so I decided to take her again for anthro 2 in the fall. I absolutely adore her. She's really opened my mind and since taking her class, I'm going to minor in anthropology. She's a tough grader but she makes it clear what she's looking for. 3 tests 3 quizzes, 1 makeup quiz, simple.
Wendy is very sweet and passionate about teaching. She gives the questions and answers (including format) for all quizzes. Attendance is a must and if you miss at least one class, you'll fall behind. Later in the year, her lectures get confusing where she will go back and forth of topics without specifying. Not an east class, work for it.
Her lectures really stick to you because of the way she explains it and repeats the material. She keeps us engaged in each lecture and I've never had a professor do that before! Her tests and quizzes are very straight forward because she provides you with outlines and notes that are specific to each quiztest. Study & you'll pass
I don't understand why Prof Gabriella does not have a higher rating. She is one of my favorite professors at IVC. Her lectures are SO interesting and engaging, and she makes sure the information is organized and easy to understand. Her tests are not difficult if you take good notes and ACTUALLY study. I highly recommend her!
Good class. Took it over the summer as my first college class and got an A. Research papers are replaced by quizzes, she also offers a make up quiz come finals. Her lectures are very straightforward and easy to understand, basically if you take notes about what's on her lectures and study you will get an 100% or higher since there is extra credit.
Amazing class and amazing teacher. She makes the material very interesting and makes students want to come to class. Wouldn't recommend skipping class since her tests are all lecture based. She gives you the quiz questions ahead of time along with test study guide which makes it east to get a good grade.
Avoid, avoid, avoid. Does not respond to e-mails. Very rude when you ask for help. Calls people out for leaving class. Does not go by the book. Powerpoints have no words on them. You're basically writing down everything she says. Just don't buy book and bring a tape recorder to class.
Took Anth 2 from her. Lectures are VERY clear and concise and help with tests much more than the textbook. She is super laidback, forgiving, gives great answers, will joke around, she 100% WANTS you to succeed. All in all really nice teacher!
She gives out 70 question tests, be sure to understand the material.
I learned so many AMAZING things in this class. It ended up being one of my favorite classes taken at IVC and I learned so much. Even though I got a B, I enjoyed every moment of this class. The subject is so interesting and some things that everyone should get educated on. Especially since wendy is such an amazing teacher. take the class with her!!
I really enjoyed her class. There were 3 essay quizzes based on articles. We went over the articles as a class before the quizzes so you know what she is looking for. Tests are easy as long as you review the material. Her lectures were interesting. She really knows her stuff! You do not need the book
Taking Anthropology over the summer with Professor Gabriella was a great decision. Not only is she crystal clear with her grading criteria, she makes the classes very enjoyable & interesting. Her exams are based off of what she says in lecture, so write every definition she says. As a visiting UC student, I would come back and take her class again.
This was one of the first classes I took was over the summer and professor Gabriella was absolutely phenomenal. Her lectures are crystal clear and she will gladly repeat what she says if you ask her to. She goes over quiz questions ahead of time and provides a clear outline for how she wants your essay to be. Not difficult to get an A at all.
Pretty good class, although she can grade hard when it comes to discussion boards. Reading the text is a must if you want to pass the tests. Pro: she rounds your grade if you're pretty close to the next letter.
Professor Gabriella is an amazing professor! Grade consists of 3 quizzes (30 pts each) and 3 tests (70 pts each). Quiz is an in-class essay but she goes over everything that you have to include so take good notes and you'll be fine. Tests only include information covered in lectures so TAKE. GOOD. NOTES! Lecture-based class but she makes it fun!
Very intelligent woman, really knows her stuff. Very clear about what will be on the tests & quizzes. Even outlines the essays for you in class. Provides a very helpful study guide. Take good notes & read the book & you should be fine. Very nice gal.
Loved her class! Her lectures are very interesting . I don't have the book and I'm passing . If you take really good notes on her lectures and study off those you will pass !!
Loooooove her! She is amazing. She always makes sure you understand the material. Her tests are worded a little funny but if you take good notes and do the practice tests that she puts up on blackboard, you'll definitely get through it. The questions on the practice test are also on the test verbatim so that's an easy 10-15 points you could get.
She is very clear in what she expects from you. If you study with the material online, you should do well on tests. There are three big essay quizzes, but she tells you what you should be writing for each paragraph during lecture. One of the best professors I have had at IVC. Notes are clear, lectures are interesting, and she is very passionate.
I took Anthro 1 this fall and got an A but barley. Class was interesting but some of the material may be confusing and the only thing in your gradebook are three quizzes and 4 tests which means if you suck at taking tests, dont take this class. Take notes and fill out the study guides ahead of time. Textbook was useless to me never even opened.
I personally enjoyed this class. I only used the book for extra credit questions. You have to pay attention during lecture to do well in this class. Other than that, the class is clear. Study ahead of time for both of the quizzes and tests. I'm not a huge fan of ATHRO but she made it somewhat enjoyable to learn. She makes it clear on what to study
Took Anthro 1, to be more specific Biological Anthro, loved the class, Professor Gabriella is super awesome, very helpful and she gives the exact topics of the quiz's and what to write about them, the study guides and the practice test mirror the test's and the final, would take this class again and any class with her!! She rocks and is very kind!!
Lecture notes hard to take
The tests aren't difficult, but the weekly discussion boards can sometimes feel like your pulling teeth. She is available in her office if you need help.
People who complain about her anthro class being hard probably just didn't show up. There's no homework (grade based off of 3 quizzes, 3 tests) and she LITERALLY tells you exactly what to write on the quizzes to get an A. Really easy and a fun/interesting class to take for GE.
Just go to class and you'll pass. SPOON FEEDS you the answers to her quizzes and her tests aren't that hard if you take notes or pay attention. each Quiz consists of 2 topics , roughly 3 paragraphs each but she tells you what to write. tests multiple choice. HW is reading for the quiz. there's about 4 quizzes and tests. Interesting lectures
Wendy cares about her subject and provides her students a chance to look beyond their safe, secure world into what is actually happening outside of Irvine. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and look forward to the opportunity of taking her again.
I did not touch the book once during the entirety of the course. I saved my notes and got A's on each test.
A lot of people got caught cheating. Don't bother trying, she sees everything.
I loved Prof. Gabriella! Her class is pretty straight forward, come to class and you will pass. Her exam questions come from the lecture so don't skip. Anthro 1 is mainly memorization, flashcards helped me. Don't worry about buying the book, I didn't and I got an A. She's very helpful and she doesn't mind repeating herself. Cares about the students
Her lectures are all over the place and it's hard to take notes. While what she discussing is interesting, it's hard to keep up. Quizzes are graded harshly if they're not exactly the way she wants it, but her tests are long and multiple choice are much easier. She gives extra credit. Just make sure to pay attention and never miss class or it's over
She is not helpful at all, She can easily give a zero on Quiz without rational explanation. I took this summer class, on the quiz she gave me Zero on it, She makes arbitrary decision without following the procedures. Highly recommend any one taking her class to check her previous life experiences to make sure who would be teaching you.
Worst professor I have ever taken in my years of college!!! she'll take off points if you mispelled a word wrong. With her attitude it's impossible to ask questions without her putting you down and making you feel dumb. She has written quizzes/midterm/ and final. There is so much information given to the point where it's overwhelming and confusing
She is not helpful at all, She can easily give a zero on Quiz without rational explanation. I took this summer 2016 class, on the quiz she gave me Zero on it, She makes arbitrary decision without following the procedures. Her lecture is not educational, it is a memorized lecture, she provides, Most of the time, she is not concentrating on topic.
Prof. Gabriella, is very kind. She is not rude if you ask her a question. She does grade harshly but only because Anthro is very specific. For example, If you write something in the past tense as opposed to present tense, she knock off a point. I 100% agree that her lectures are really heavy ,but she feeds you the answers to her quizzes beforehand
If you want to get an A, you have to get an A on all the assignments. There are 3 in class essays (which she gives you the prompt and how she wants written a few classes before) and 3 tests. Pretty boring class; not too eventful.
Professor Gabriellas anthropology classes are generally all fun, but it's one of those classes where if you miss one class, you will have a lot to catch up on. Her tests are based on her lecture and she outlines the quiz for you before the quiz date so you don't need to worry too much as long as you pay attention.
She is a really nice professor and specifies exactly what she wants from her students. Her class is pretty easy as long as you take notes and read the articles. However, her lectures are a little scattered sometimes so it his hard to stay organized. Her quizzes are easy as long as you come to class when she discusses the prompt.
She gives about 3-5 extra questions for every exam. There are 3 quizzes (essays) and 3 exams including the final. Lecture based exams. It's not that easy, but you can still aim for an A.
Once you screw up one time, she holds it against you. She'll be a tougher grader on you and won't be as helpful. I honestly don't even need this class and I don't think anyone does unless they plan on being an anthropologist. Professor Gabriella is just do disorganized for teaching this course.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Gabriella is passionate about what she teaches and the class is very easy. She gives out study guides before each chapter that has everything you need to know for the tests. Before each test/final she posts a practice test that are word for word test questions. No reason to not get an A in this class.
I love Wendy Gabriella. She is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had! She literally gives you the quiz questions and answers them in class! Don't even bother wasting your money on a book. Her lectures are actually very interesting & for tests I only missed 3 at most on all of them so I would recommend making quizlets out of your notes!
It's easy to understand her lecture and is very interesting.
Easy class, wasn't impressed by her intelligence level or spelling.
She did not curve my 89.2 to an A. Other than that, she is a very nice professor with clear lectures. Just take notes and you will pass.
Make sure to take good notes! Her lectures are usually clear and concise.
COMEDIAN! She loves to talk about In-and-Out burgers and being "selected against". SIMPLE! Taking her class is so simple it's stupid. She basically feeds you the answers! Sit in the front of the class! You won't want to miss any of her jokes.
She's awesome! The class is easy, four tests with practice tests online that are so helpful and three essay quizzes, takes attendance but it doesn't count for anything
The class was very interesting but very hard. I studied more for this class than any class I've ever taken, but kind of enjoyed it because it's so interesting. Only graded on tests (completely multiple choice) and quizzes (free response essay questions). Don't need the textbook because all information is based on lectures. Must take great notes!!!
Worst professor I have ever taken in my years of college, difficult to get a passing grade on homework assignments.
Professor Gabriella's class is great for those looking to fulfill their Physical Science requirement. Her lectures are very detailed and gives you everything you need to ace the tests. She grades based off of quizzes and exams and there is little to no homework. She's funny and her lectures are great even if they are a little long.
She was a phenomenal teacher. I took her online for cultural anthropology over the summer and honestly she made me so much more interested in the subject than I thought I'd be. She sent out video lectures that were insightful, funny and very clear. Just take notes on a separate google docs file and you'll be set. This is my 2nd class with her! :)
I'm about to take her again for Cultural Anthro online and she's a great professor. I've never taken a class where it was so clearly laid out what to study for the tests. In class I took notes on the study guide you can download from her website and be sure to take the practice tests she puts up online; some Q's will be on the test word for word.
Took her class for a GE requirement and I loved it! Her lectures are clear and she gives study guides for her tests. Tests can be hard if you don't try but as long as you go to class and read your notes before the test you're fine.
LOVED her class, probably best lecturers i've experienced. gives you answers to quizzes, tests are straightforward. i took this class dreadingly for GE credit and ended up loving anthropology! class always went by super fast, everyone was always in awe of her. would love to take her again!
Her teaching is very straight forward and clear, but every single word she said might be on the test. Test book doesnt help. Her PPT doesnt help. Only way is to attend the class and take notes. Better write down everything.
Iv'e never taken an Anthropology science class, before and the tests are unreliably difficult, not to mention confusing. I am familiar with Scantron tests, but being new to this class, doing these tests seem impossible outside the notes I take in. I believe she should make her own exams, rather than give impossible scantron tests.
Overall she is an amazing professor!! Very sweet, understandable, and funny. 3 quizzes and 4 tests. Her class is completely lecture based, so dont buy the book and make sure to take ALL of the notes. Her tests are difficult, but if you study the lecture notes you'll be fine. Quizzes are easy because she directly gives the answers. Take her class!
LOVE HER!!! One of the best professors I have ever had in College! She actually teaches you instead of giving you textbooks and making you teach yourself. I didn't think I would be interested in Anthropology but she really made it interesting! She was so passionate about the subject and that made it so much better. Highly recommend!
Her classes and tests are very clear, and she go over everything on the test so pay attention during her lectures, and many very details little things may be on the tests as well.
One of the best professor. She taught me things I never knew before and she makes things easy and very simple. She literally gives you the quiz questions in class and tells you exactly what the answer is, all you have to do is memorize it. The test are a bit hard but if you do the study guides you will do very well. 3 quizzes and 4 tests.
Gabriella is a real good choice if you are taking anthro2. A genuine and kind person, show up for lecture and take notes, she gives the answers to quizzes the class before, the powerpoint lectures and study guides are available online. Didn't feel the need to read the textbook that much.
Dont buy the textbook just take notes on the lecture. Studied for 15min for her tests and I got an A on every single one. Its stupid easy middle school level science. No hw which is great. Quizes are a joke cuz she gives you the outline with the answers and all you have to do is write it out in complete sentences. Shes nice and very knowledgeable
There are 3 tests and 3 in class essays (which are easy). To get a good grade in the class, show up to class and write your notes based on the study guides. The tests are not easy but they are all based on the lectures so if you study, you'll be fine. She's really sweet, approachable, and really makes the class interesting.
Very straight forward class. Beware of quizzes though. Make sure you write down everything she says word for word.
She is a passionate and fun Proffesor to take for the anthropology courses, however she is all about her lectures and if you miss even one day, you will far behind. She can also be very strict when it comes to quizzes and grading them, she informs you ahead of time of the material, but her lectures are everything and the book is not used just notes
Honestly as long as you read the chapters (which aren't long) & take notes on her lecture you'll be fine. Her study guides are pretty on point & she's a sweet lady that can be super helpful if you ask questions. I'm currently taking her for anthro 2 online & it's a pretty easy class.
Anthropology is not a hard class. All you have to do is show up. She holds grudges, so do not piss her off. I made a comment once that she didn't like and on the next quiz, she graded me tough even though I compared with my friend and we had the same answers. She gets annoying trying to be "cool" so if you are easily annoyed by that like me, avoid.
THIS CLASS IS NOT AN EASY A. You basically get graded only on 3 tests and 3 quizzes. She gives you the quiz questions and the answers before you take them. Her tests are difficult tho. Make sure to take notes of everything she says in class. She gives you a couple of extra credit questions at the end of each exam, but theyre impossible to answer.
By no means an easy A class. Anthropology 1 shouldnt be a hard class, but Professor Gabriella is very good at making it hell for students. She will not help you with your grade, so dont even bother aksing her. Too much irrelevant material to memorize. No extra credit opportunities, other than the random TOUGH questions at the end of each eaxm.
Anthro 1 is not supposed to be this hard. Her 70 question all MC tests are straight up annoying. Unless you are truly interested in the subject matter of Anthropology, going to her lecture can be dreadful.
She is a very sweet lady who is there for her students. Earning an A is tough, but it is possible if you put the work and studying into it. She will help you with any questions you have, I wouldn't say it was an easy class, but I did learn a lot! Just show up to every class and take notes on everything she says! Ask for help if you need it!
Class material isn't easy but Professor Gabriella makes it easier. She knows the content very well & will help you learn it. 3 in class essays for which she gives you the prompt & everything you need to include, 3 tests + non-cumulative final. If you miss one quiz or test, you can make it up. She's very kind! Textbook only for multiple choice E.C.
3 quizzes and 3 tests (non-cumulative final). She basically gives you the prompt and breaks down exactly what she wants on the quizzes via the format she provides. Tests are from lecture. She is clear and concise as to what she expects from students. Just show up and take diligent notes. The class will be a lot easier than you think. Fair grading.
You have to show up to class or you wont pass because whats in lecture will be on the test. Seriously write down everything she says & use the study guide to study for exam. Shes awesome
She is a very passionate person when it comes to Anthropology. Really enjoyed her class, so I decided to take all the courses she teaches.
A terrible professor and even more terrible class. It was surprising how strict the grading on discussion boards were to the point where unless you said exactly what she wanted, automatic point deductions. No opinions or free thinking allowed. She would also not let students view the answers on quizzes even weeks after being taken. DO NOT RECCOMEND
Very sweet professor, passionate about her subject. Be prepared to study because there is a lot of information in each test, but it is absolutely possible to get a good grade if you take care to learn what she teaches. Take thorough notes, attend every lecture, and you'll find yourself in one of the most enjoyable classes you've ever taken.
Pretty easy class, but you still need to study of course(at least if you want to get an A). You don't need the textbook and I regret renting it. The professor has a good personality which makes it harder to not pay attention during lectures. if you're looking to for a class to fulfill your bio requirement for general ed, I recommend this one
I found her annoying. It is an easily class, but she thinks that her field of study is like rocket science and will grade you hard on her free response questions. Since she times the free response and wants a lot of information, you have to write fast, so if you write badly, she'll circle whatever mistake you made and mark you down for it. dumb a'f
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. Her lectures are SO clear, understanding, fun and interesting! She's so funny and really wants her students to understand, she's one of those professors that loves when you ask questions! Not to mention you get no homework and don't actually need the textbook. Easy A basically memorize all the notes and you're good!
I took both her ANTH 1 & 2 class and received an A. Gabriella is a super passionate and caring professor. If you don't understand something, she'll stop the whole class just to make sure you understand it. One of my favorite professors on campus. There's no homework but just pay attention to her lectures and study for the quizzes and exams.
3/5ths of your grade relies on essays she basically spells out for you. She goes over what she wants to hear - telling you things like 'define x, which is defined as y in your opening sentence of paragraph 3. Then explain why v lead to r. Define r.' Don't expect to have to to think your own thoughts - she provides them. Dismissive of students.
I took the online class and she is so picky for no reason. Will always grade hard on discussion boards when they are only worth 10 points. THE TEST QUESTIONS DO NOT MAKE SENSE! She does not format the questions in the correct manner and makes it very confusing. Do not take this class if it is not your major because it is not worth the hassle!
She is a sweet and nice teacher. She is always very passionate and her lectures are interesting. Pay attention to her lecture and take notes during classes and study for it, you will get a satisfying grade. Her class might be a little bit difficult for non-native speaker. PPT doesn't contain all the notes!
Very picky. Her online class is easy if you do one thing. Take notes on what she says exactly in her lecture word for word. For homework just say what she said back to her, in painfully repetitive detail (or you won't get the points). Do well on homework bc tests are wack. Make a study guide for test and you'll be fine. Shes a little rude tho so...
The class itself was really, really easy. She gives you detailed outlines for all of the quizzes, there are practice tests and study guides online. The issue also isn't with the way she teaches, because the information is really clear. Mostly my problem with her is it always feels like she's talking down to you and seems to think you're an idiot.
Gives all the materials needed to succeed in her class. Take the time to actually look at her study guides and you'll get A's. Gave us exactly what she wants on the quiz essays. Interesting subject that is taught clearly and efficiently. I strongly recommend her even though there's many mixed reviews. Just take the time to study and you'll do fine.
Horrible professor, don't even think about or consider taking a class with her. She is the rudest, most vile professor I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, I am honestly shocked she's still allowed to teach.
Very tough grader on the discussion boards which are only 10 points, does not want you to quote anything on the discussion boards. Discussion boards consist of 3 paragraphs and the 3 questions she gives you is not enough for 3 paragraphs. Talks down on you as if you're dumb and does not have good communication towards you when you have a question.
She's a really entertaining professor, and she makes the class fun. I was always engaged, and I can still apply what she taught to conversations. Her no technology rule is not a big deal, because it actually helps you pay attention and recall information easier.
bring Advil to class because you sure will get a headache.
can be very curt and has little patience in class time. you'll probably do fine if you do the assignments and quiz essays exactly how she says, go along with everything in class, and don't challenge her at all. textbook only used for extra credit
I have never hated a class this much in my life. She treats you with disrespect if u ever have a question keep it to yourself cuz she is rude and will complain how she already said it before. If u plan on skipping class u cant she will drop you and the only way youll know when she writes it on the attendance sheet and wont speak to you about it.
This class is not an Easy A. She treats students like theyre in highschool and will make sure to embarrass you if youre phone is out by accident. With her quizzes she will tell you what to write But sometimes she doesnt mention something and will mark you off especially for grammar mistakes this class is pointless, she will make u feel dumb
I took this class to complete units.. she is a good teacher if you have 0 creativity and like to memorize. She gives you what she wants for your quiz essays and doesnt allow you to add anything that she did not talk about. No room for creativity in your writing. She will not take you talking back or questioning what shes teaching. Worst professor
Worst professor Ever at IVC she'll take off points if you misspelled a word wrong. There is so much information that you have to memorize on her quizzes and will go back and forth when shes explaining her power points and her notes dont make Sense its soo confusing to understand. if you want an easy A, its very simple dont take her class PERIOD
The class is straightforward. 3 quizzes, 3 exams (non-cumulative). No HW. How to get an A: show up & take good notes, study & practice before written essay quizzes (layout provided), keep up with each chapter study guides (provided) & use to study for the exams. Make sure you're able to get notes from a classmate if you're absent.
The professor will post all things about the whole semester at first on canvas, she is a little strict. Ask her questions in class or during the break!! cause if you ask her after class by email, she won't tell you the answer, she would say I mentioned it in class. Her lecture is interesting.
I had Prof. Gabriella during the COVID19 pandemic, so I've practically experienced both her in class and online ANTH1 course. A decent amount of the class is written quizzes. Problem is you have to write exactly what she wants or you do poorly, as she is a very picky grader. Online, she gave us no help with the quizzes and most people struggled.
I attended the class in 1999 and it changed my life. Professor Gabriella's knowledge and passion for anthropology opened my interest when I pursued my bachelor's degree in Psychology at CSUF. Everything I took was geared toward biology and culture and to this day as well. She expects a lot from her students, and it only helps you to do better.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Anthro 2 with her is tougher than physics 4A! got a 2/10 on a hw assignment dropped my grade 5% . Doesn't curve tests even if the class suffers on multiple tests. Her lectures cover like 20% of the study guide. Toughest "easy" class I have ever taken. Take sociology instead save yourselves!
Attendance is mandatory, but the lectures were usually really interesting and class would go by quickly. There are graded in-class writing assignments (quizzes) but she gives all of the answers and how to format the essay ahead of time. I would take this class again.
I would 100% recommend taking her for ANTH 1. Attendance is mandatory but she makes all material easy to understand in class and the study guides are identical to lectures. Quizzes must be precise but she gives you all of the material needed in class to succeed. The class is content-heavy, but if you show up and take good notes you will do great.
She is a tough teacher and I was excited to take her but so glad it's over! You do have to do the work and stay on top of the lectures. She can be a hard grader especially if you're not using the words she is looking for. She does lay everything out for you and will give 15 points of extra credit on each test. She will answer emails pretty quickly.
I dont
My experience in this class was horrible. What kind of teacher assigns an attendance question on a Sunday. I remember emailing her about it and she responds with an attitude. Also she is such a tough grader, I completed most of the discussions and never received full points. Even with passing the final with a c, I failed the class. Dont take her.
Still traumatized from this Professor, the worst attitude, doesnt care for the students and will make ur life miserable, I had to take Advil and drink red bull to get through this class, she may look sweet but trust me deep down shes really mean and doesnt care at all no extra credit her quizzes were really long, RIP to who takes her Classss
The worstttt professor even I have never met anyone like her who dislikes her job she will make ur life miserable, for her essays if u dont memorize exactly what she says she will take a lot of points off so there is no room for creativity, she even takes points off of your grammar is off like my chemistry class wasnt this hard, dont take her ok
UM, i would honestly rather get covid and suffocate rather than be in her class. she's grumpy as hell like calm down sister you're lectures arent even that good for you to be acting the way you do towards the students who pay you and give you a job <3
Good professor, but you really have to pay attention to the media site lectures, read the articles, and read the textbook material in order to pass. She looks for specific answers on the assignments so be sure to be really elaborate.
Prof Gabriella is respectful and provide good feeback. She responds to emails on the same day. I recomend this prof.
Grading is harsh and unclear. She literally DOES NOT READ whats written. She'll take points off, comment her reasoning, Ill go back and have quotes of exactly what she said I didn't have. I email her and quote my paper but she'll say I cant resubmit my paper when I didnt talk about resubmitting my paper and ignore the rest. Worst teacher ever 0/5.
Cultural Anthropology is an amazing subject to learn, but it is a chore with this professor. She does not teach to inspire at all. It is pure memorization and treated like a hard science class. Do not take it even as an Anthropology major, or you will be gambling and stressing over your scores all semester long. An unnecessary difficult class.
There are very few assignments but overall this class is horrible. I had to take this class since it was a transfer requirement but I advise avoiding this professor. The quizzes are extremely difficult, the criteria for the essays are unclear, she's a hard grader, and the powerpoints the professor posts are not helpful at all. P/NP it if possible.
This professor weighs heavily on assignments which is one in every 2 weeks. Her PowerPoint does not serve a purpose or assist in anything. She is a tough grader and does not give much direction except for "give more detail." She has never responded to any emails or concerns. Definitely, this is by far my worst class taken at IVC.
You are literally only graded on exams, which are multiple choice and the occasional essay, and are not proctored (at least online). Didn't learn anything from her, the powerpoints were useless, but an easy A if you're just trying to get credit. Have the textbook ready and you'll be fine. The study guides were pretty useful.
She was very nice. I was taking her class with 4 other classes and I had to drop it because it was very time-consuming and way too much reading!! This class is very hard because there is a lot of reading and a lot of stuff you have to memorize.
I was honestly surprised I got a passing grade in this class because I did not try at all. I missed many classes, and did not read or study until an hour before tests. I did participate a lot though, and asked many questions. I definitely would've gotten an A if I applied myself, so read and study ahead of time because there are many tests!
