I had Wendy as my College Algebra teacher and I thought she was great. She was always willing to help. I would recommend her.
She is a great teacher, who is always willing to help you with your homework. She does a great job of explaining problems and gives time in class for questions. You will learn in this class and enjoy it better than other classes.
Very nice and friendly. Is always willing to help students. A lot of people complain about her, but they never see her during office hours or ask questions when she gives time in class so it's their own fault. Her test are easy, but they aren't hard. It all depends on how well you know the material.
i thought that she had her favorites and she was hard about grading.
Very cool teacher, she gives help if you ask for it...she'll go out of her way if you go out of yours...
Wendy is an awesome teacher. She may be a little tough, but she is always willing to help her students in any way possible. If you do bad in any of her classes, it's your own fault because she isn't afraid to give grades out that are well earned!
I have her now, and she is really cool. Her tests are really hard if you don't care about math, but the study guides are handy. She's really pretty, too.
Very nice and explains everything very well. Slows down when the class doesn't understand. And usually always gives a study guide for test. Took her as a minimester. If you do the homework and go to class it's not to hard at all. Stickler on tardiness and attendance
I think Wendy is a great teacher, she doesn't speed through. She makes sure you are understanding the material. I would recommend her.
Although Wendy was nice, i found her class to be very difficult. It wasn't the subject matter that was difficult, it was the constant homework. Also, there wasn't a book for the class, so when you had problems doing the homework, you had nothing to refer to. If you are taking anyother classes, don't take this one-total dedication is required
She is so nice and helpful. It's a tough class, but she taught it really well and took time to answer all my Q's.
best math teacher i've ever had! does a super job of explaining things at the class' pace, doesn't rush you through the material.
VERY difficult, You MUST do your homework to get a good grade. Her tests are very hard but she is a wonderful lady.
She is tough but not in a bad way at all. She wants you to learn. Best of all she speaks English when she teaches, not Mathese, so she's understandable.
I liked her a lot. She explained everything in detail before you did the homework so you could complete it with minimal difficulty. The only thing is that you have to do the recommended homework so you know how to do the material, b/c if you don't then the tests will be very difficult! But she is so sweet and nice!!
She's a very nice lady who can be helpful sometimes. I just think the class is pretty confusing.
probably the best math teacher I've ever had
Very good Minimesterinstructor. Takes the time to explain assigned homeworks and all questions. She made the math class fun. Do the assigned homework and you will do great!
You gotta go to class, but she spells everything out very clearly. Willing to help you as much as you are willing to put forth the effort to recieve help.
terrible. not understanding
She was recommended to me. I'm glad I took class with her. She's been a good teacher: very helpful and nice.
Great teacher and very helpful during office hours.
I really like her teaching style. She's a great and yet fun teacher to have.Go to her office hours if you don't understand something b/c she helps you until you do understand it.She will go out her way to help you if you do the same. The only way you will fail this class is if you don't do your homework or come to class!!!!
To put it simply, she's the best math teaher I've ever had. She was very helpful and patient. I'd like to take another class from her.
Mrs O'Hanlon is awesome. She makes you think. the class is hard but she will help anyway she can. I wish she taught all the Math I need. If you can take her for any math do!
She is the BEST teacher I have ever had. I dreaded taking Statistics but she is clear and easy to understand. She takes a very difficult subject and makes it fun. She is AWEWSOME!!!!
Mrs. O'Hanlon, undoubtedly, was the best teacher of all my math classes, and for that matter all my classes ever taken. She works so hard at making sure the subject becomes clear to the students. To only recommend her for a teacher would not be enough said because she is a must have teacher!!!
If you have to take business calc, take Wendy! She will bend over backwards to help you, if you are willing to do the take home quizzes and some of the homework. This is one of the hardest classes I could imagine taking. Wendy will make sure you're successful if show you want to be. (You MUST spend at least 4 hrs a week outside class on homework!)
Wendy ROCKS! Not the easiest but most def. the best. She will take the time to explain and she cares. The workload in this class is insane but worth it if you take her. I loved her class and learned a ton. She is a great teacher. Gallion Award all the way!
Wendy was the best math teacher I ever had. Math does not come easy for me, but she made it very understandable. She made herself very available for help and was sincere in wanting you to be successful!
Hard subject but she made it as understandable. ALOT of online homework and quizs. She will help you if you ask. Overall one of the best teachers I have had at ICC.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She will go out of her way to help any student. Even the students that wouldnt typically come to class, come to her class. She has a special way of connecting with her students and by the end the first week of classes, she had everybody's names memorized. That goes to show how much she truely cares.
Greatest teacher@ ICC. I took her minimester and got a "B". I have a math phobia and an older student so a B was great for me. She is very clear, easy to understand and the most helpful teacher you can have for Math. You can tell she really cares about her students and their grade. She gets an A+ in my book of teachers.
Great teacher! She's also smart, fun, young, and pretty cute too. You do have to do some homework online but if you do it you don't really have to study anymore... I never studied(only homework) and managed to get an A
I took her class online. She was a great teacher! Take her class!
I took Mrs. O'Hanlon's class last fall. It was very hard, but if you make the time to go in and see her, she is extremely helpful and willing to work with you. I struggled because I wasn't use to learning math in that way. Every time I went to office hours she would spend time helping me, but you have to take the time to go and ask for help.
A very good teacher. I needed help and Wendy was always available. Very patient and approachable if you go to class.
Incredible teacher! Cares about students success in class and is incredibly willing to help. Tests are long but are easy if one puts forth effort. She tries to relate examples to students and makes class fun! My favorite teacher at ICC!!!
TAKE HER! she is AWESOME!!I took her online class, she is very organized.she keeps you study every week. but not a long time. u can learn a lot even it's online class!
She's probably one of the best math teachers I have had. Responds to your e-mails with in 2 hours assuming they are sent at a reasonable time. Extremely helpful.
Interesting class. Don't underestimate it though! Go to her office hours or any study session you can. She's extremely nice and helpful.
Amazing teacher, genuinely cares about your success! Go to class and you will get an A if you put forth effort and are willing to ask her questions.
Awesome professor!!! Loved her classes and lectures, one of the best math professors I have ever had!! if you are going to take her classes, do lots of homework and look for her help as much as you can!!
She's a very knowledgable and helpful instructor, can definitely learn the subject well. However, if you don't want to get bogged down with busy paper work, working student incompatible online due dates, and half-credits for incomplete answers (Solid numbers arent correct answers in math class apparently), think twice before signing up.
Very tough. Doesn't use book so don't buy it. Only gives recommended hw from book not due for a grade, gives multiple handouts daily due next day. Gives quizzes weekly and exams bi-weekly. Tests you on things not covered clearly. Good luck passing.
I found this class difficult compared to Math 115. Mrs. O'Hanlon is a good teacher, but just make note that the "recommended homework" is basically required. She will pull questions straight from the book that were not covered in lecture. Be sure to self study and see her in office hours if you have trouble. Do that and you'll pass.
Wendy is wonderful. She will make you work for your grade, but is very, very willing to help you. The most willing teacher I've ever encountered. She replies to emails and goes at a really slow pace to make sure the class understands. She explains things very well and sincerely cares about everyone in the class. Loved her.
This was a hard class but taught by a solid teacher. She took time to help and she's a nice lady. I definitely recommend her.
Had her for calc 2, here is the kind of teacher she is; then you can decide. Has a high standard, doesn't teach to that standard. Is very anti-calculator. Is the type of teacher who doesn't explain concepts, just shows examples, but then her tests are concept based. The problems on the quiz/test are way different than any of the practice homework.
Terrible class! I took Mrs. O'hanlon for classes before calc, she was hard but good for those. Having her for calc is another story though! Lots of work with really high expectations. All assignments are harder than anything in the book. Practice is almost pointless, because she loves to throw "curve-balls" at you on tests and other assignments.
I liked the class because I had an interest in learning it. I wouldn't suggest Wendy if you're looking for an easy class. You'll be challenged. She's super nice and very helpful every time I came to her. I would take her again.
Great teacher but tough class. Homework and attendance are basically required. I did the homework and it was fine.
Def. take her for 190. Wendy is amazing. Now I actually undrestand math.
I loved Mrs. O'Hanlon! Her class is pretty difficult, but she is always willing to help outside of class. She's pretty quick to respond to emails during the week. When it comes down to it, she wants to see you succeed; but if you struggle with math, don't expect to pass unless you practice the work she provides and ask questions.
It's true that her class is hard, but she went out of her way to help me get a good grade. Wendy is an awesome teacher, the best math teacher I've had at ICC.
Had her for spring 13. Great teacher! She DOES expect a lot, but it seemed like the harder the test or problem, the more kind she is when grading. By the time she's done, you will def know and understand the material. Expects and gives a lot. And for those interested in math, she's got A LOT of knowledge in other maths and gives great advice.
If you show up to class and you want to learn, you'll do fine. She pretty much requires attendance and homework. But, she's an excellent teacher. I learned a lot of math from Mrs. O'hanlon. I liked her teaching style.
She's smart & helpful, but she tried making more out of this class than necessary by assigning way too much homework. I can deal with that, but she treated us like grade schoolers by dividing us up into groups to do little class projects if extra time allotted for it & gave attendance points. Funniest part is she's not much older than the students.
Wendy's test are extremely difficult...she doesn't allow enough time for them to be completed, either. She assigns massive amounts of homework every night. Don't expect this to be an easy one! Requires a lot of extra time.
I thought she was outstanding. Probably not the easiest teacher, but she is very responsive. I was able to get help when I needed it and she was quick to return my emails. Good class. I would recommend her.
Liked the class, but it wasn't easy. I did learn more than I have in my other math courses.
I was worried about taking a math minimester but Professor O'Hanlon was organized and super nice. She made it a good class for me.
I absolutely LOVED Professor O'Hanlon. She was really friendly, and you could tell she truly loved her job. I found her to be very easy to get an A in her class. All of the homework was online which I found to be easier than traditional homework. The only thing I didn't like was she gave quizzes at the last five minutes of class everyday.
Will treat you like a high schooler and will hand out more homework than any Calculus class I've ever taken.
Discrete mathematics is much different than anything you learn in previous math classes. The class is algorithm heavy and reminds me of a programming class, without the computer. Wendy is nice and curves exams, and will help you if you go to her office hours. The first homework assignment is the worst; I promise it gets better.
Fabulous teacher!! Explains everything very well, in multiple ways. She really wants her students to learn and to do very well. Easy to get help outside of class (office and email) and wants her students to ask questions. She is very helpful! I'd take her for all math classes if I could. She makes class fun by being excited about math herself.
Extremely nice person, tries hard to make sure all her students succeed. Is almost always available via email or office hours. Well organized and on schedule. Made Calculus very easy to learn.
Wendy is an amazing prof especially for the education classes! I loved her!
I really enjoyed her classes!! She makes things easy to understand and will clarify things for you in many ways if you need help! If at all possible take her classes!
Hard class, AWESOME teacher. She gives clear expectations and if you are there and take good notes you'll get it. She's funny and gives plenty of examples. Group work in class is totally necessary.
Very helpful if you contact or meet her to clarify. Lots of work but it IS a math class so practice makes perfect. Two proctored that were a pain to attend but mandatory by heads of math associations, so understandable.
She is a good teacher and answers questions well. Her tests are very hard including the final. I always understood the material but never did very well on the tests because they were always harder than the homework and review we did throughout the semester.
Great teacher considering the subject. There is a lot of homework which is to be expected for a math class. The exams are worth the majority of your grade so stay on top of things! She is very understanding and willing to work with you to help you pass. Best math prof I have had yet.
Not designed for a working adult will not give any extensions no matter the circumstances and does not do curves. Ruined my life and set me back huge financially spent every hour of free time I had for this class to get a 68 and needed a 70 to transfer
I took this class online, which was okay, but this professor didn't even teach the class! She added videos to our lessons that weren't even her, which I thought was weird. If I did ask for her help, I wouldn't understand what she was saying, so I was better off finding the answers on my own elsewhere.
I went into this class with a positive outlook. That disappeared fairly quickly. By the end, it was obvious it was pointless to ask for help from this instructor. On the good side: When I work with students now, I sometimes ask myself, "What would this instructor have done?" And then I do something else. Rarely is this a bad plan.
I would not take courses with her if you don't have to. I have been in her class this semester and it has been one of the worst academic experiences of my life. O'Hanlon never taught content and just relied on us to learn in our groups. When we had outside classwork she would send videos that were not even her teaching the content. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Dr. O'Hanlon was a great prof! Her MATH 111 does have a lot of homework, but as long as you do it and ask questions, you will be just fine.
Be ready to work if you take MATH190. It is a good class, but you have to make sure you understand the material. This is not like a traditional math class. There is a lot of explaining 'why' math works. However, Professor O'Hanlon does a great job. I would take her class again, even though it was a harder class.
Professor O'Hanlon assigns things but does not lecture. She just posts a 5 minute Youtube clip that you watch before doing the homework and makes you read the chapter. Overall, not a bad class coming from someone who struggles with math. Just be prepared to teach yourself and spend at least an hour and a half on homework 2 nights a week.
This is one of the best professors I've ever had! I heard that discrete math would be a hard class, but she was able to teach us the concepts in a way that IT majors would be able to understand. When I asked her what I could do with a math major she was able to go out of her way to give me helpful information to look at. She cares for her students
O'Hanlon is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's good at explaining the concepts and gives homework that is relevant and not too hard to understand. If you ask her for help, she will go out of her way to do her best!
