Hard hard teacher.Don't let her looks deceive you. She may look small and harmless, but she can be brutal when it comes to marking essays. She basically writes her own essay on the side of the margins of your essay. Becareful of this one.

Doesn't read your work, just flags it and marks it badly. Expect your white paper to turn red, and fail. Asks for comments and rejects ideas outright, rudely. Avoid at all costs.

She doesn't really hear people's ideas, everything is according to her ideas only. Why is she allowed to teach is beyond me. Her hand writing sucks, you can't even read the comments on the essays she marked. And hardest marker ever. You have been warned.
She was a HORRIBLE teacher. She never tells you what she wants. The classes were a waste of time. The only way I passed was by doing good on the grammar quizzes. She's a very hard marker. If you want a good mark in the class, definately do NOT take her.
She is a nice person, but marks very hard. She expects you to understand the material and shuts down every idea you can possibly think of because it's not up to her standards. Take a different english teacher don't make the mistake that I did.

VERY boring class, which explains why I don't try to wake up at 6:00 to make the 8:00 class. Everything she taught, I learnt in high school, so the content was extremely useless. Easiness deserves a 3, seeing that I threw together an essay the night before it was due and skipping a peer review, which cost me 5% and still got a C+.
She's a very hard marker and her classes are boring. You can never get a good grade unless she likes you. You won't learn anything new, since it's basically what you learned in highschool.
very boring class, no excitment. she stands there and talk the whole 2 hours. and shes not helpful, instead she'll make you feel stupid and tell you to go to the learning center "for extra help"! and a VERY hard marker..just dont take her...for your own mental health!!
What a nightmare!! I took her class a couple of semesters ago, but her class still haunts me. She's a total feminist, so if you don't agree with her on everything she says, she'll give you a bad mark. Plus her classes are so boring! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!

She is a extremely hard marker. She will say good comments on your writing when you bring in a rough copy but totally distroy it when you hand in your good copy. She is rude to her students and she plays favorites. I would not wish my worst enemy on her.

HORRIBLE teacher. Unorganized, unclear. Gives information to help you AFTER the fact. Misleading in terms of requirements. Teaching grade 10 information, but with VERY picky standards. Avoid this bland boring teacher at all costs. Save yourself while you still can!
She is without a doubt the most boring teacher possible. She doesn't change her voice tone, which results in you not paying any attention as what she is saying is NOT captivating, nor is it interesting. She also has a bit of a snobbish streak. I don't recommend her.

Everything that the teachers failed to teach me about proper writing in high school, Wendy has taught me. She is a great teacher who, contrary to what other people have written here, cares about the writing abilities of her students.
Again I'm going to disagree with the general populace. Yes, Wendy is a hard teacher; she just expects her students to work. We are in college now, and she exects us to act like it. I'm doing rather well in her class, and I'm learning a lot of things. I recommend Wendy if you aren't afraid to actually work for your grade.
For semester coming up, a class having enrollment of 25 students, still has 21 spaces available in her class....that should speak for itself. Avoid this teacher.

Wendy was a good teacher. She is very helpful and expects you to do work at a college level. She is a very fair marker and will explain her marking to you if you don't understand it. I would definetely recommend her to other students.

Avoid her. Classes are very boring. I learned nothing at all. Our class felt she did not prepare us adequately for our midterm and half the class failed, we had no idea what would be on it. I even went in and got extra help from her and felt good going into the midterm but still failed the it. Super hard marker too. Gives terrible feedback.

Attending class is useless. She sits up front and tries to direct discussion that always ends up trailing off into the personal life of an individual student. She contributes nothing to these discussions and you will learn nothing from this class. She has tests worth 1% each at the beginning of most classes just to ensure people attend her class.
all i can say is watch out for this one. she is quick to make judgments of people and will mark you accordingly, most if not all her classes are a waste of time, no one dares talk during discussion periods, she is unclear and unfocused, horrible exp.
Wendy was a very pleasant teacher. She expected the assigned readings to be done before class. No one in the class was ever made fun of. She genuinely wants her students to do well and even asked us what we needed help with(comma splices, semi-colons, etc.) I wish she taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year English.
do not take this class if you are a guy. she loves girl, and has her own opinion, and if you do not write exactly what she thinks you will get no better than a C(Especially if you are a guy!!) She will tell you what to do if you ask her, but then you will do it, and she will tear you apart! Do not even consider taking her unless you are a girl haha
She's very quiet but is very nice. Her quizzes are super easy as long as you read the material. The material she assigns is largely focused on feminism so be sure to look at each work from that point of view. As long as you give the class an effort you should do just fine.
All I can say if you get on her bad side look out. She can be nice, but seems to favour girls rather than guys. She also will try to at least fail one or two people every semester. She wrongly accused me of plagarism and I'm pretty sure purposely gave me a low mark on my finale exam so i could not pass.I was getting a B before the incident happened
She seriously doesnt know how to teach! Her essay questions contain main different questions but when you go see her she says they are helper questions and doesnt clarify what the main question she wants answering is! I have managed to drop a whole grade with her. I would strongly suggest not to take her as a prof! Worst prof ever
SAVE YOUR MONEY and take it with another professor. Not an appropriate teacher for an upgrade course. Marks ridiculously hard and she is useless for help. ENGQ 1099 with wendy is an instant drop to your GPA, expect a fail or a bare minimum pass if you aren't putting in a ridiculous amount of hours towards her assignments.
I regret taking her class. She's a NO GO if you hate writing papers. There are so many papers and in class essays. Many people are failing or near failing. There is no point of wasting money on a class which makes you want to sleep all the time. Nonetheless, she is a very hard marker.
All I want to say is, if you want to try very hard and end up failing, take her class.

Wendy is very nice and approachable. She is extremely understanding if something goes wrong with your assignment and always willing to help/discuss material during her office hours. Class can get boring sometimes but if you read the material it's not so bad. The essays are pretty easy but make sure you study for her exams. Definitely recommend her.
Run fast and far. She is a stupidly hard marker. She is not clear about anything. The essays she give is pointless. The final made no sense as she would not allow students to bring writing material for a final, based on POETRY!!!! How are we suppose to know everything?

Very boring classes and I mean very boring. She kind of assumes everyones a genius at writing and loves english and she'll give you feedback on an assignment but her writing is the WORST ever; not even readable.
Class is boring, but the reading quiz's are easy marks. Also, she explains what she wants in her essays in great detail. I got a C- on my english 12 provincial, and got a B on her 3 essays. She is typical university english marker (tough) but she gives a lot of feedback! i recommend her!

I think some people here are being babies. I took her class last year. Honestly, I didn't try very hard and got a B. It was a literature class. I skipped some classes and literally failed every 'pop quiz'. I think I got 710 on one of them. Cmon guys! Don't be such babies. Maybe you're just not very good ...
I forgot to register for class in this semester, and ended up stuck with her after reading all the reviews on here. I was thinking it was going to be a fairly hard class, but it really isn't. She expects students to have a familiar grasp with the English language, but other than that simple. 3 essays, 2 tests, 5 reading quizzes. Easy marks.
I am a hard rater, but Wendy is, in my opinion an excellent professor. I was terrible at English and was able to obtain Bs on most of my assignments. She's a hard marker so I was lucky. She taught me a lot about grammar and citation, which was really handy for me. Wendy is good at giving feedback and helping you to obtain better grades.

TERRIBLE! Literally an awful teacher, she is so boring. Spends most of her time trying to figure out how to use Word documents and teaches you nothing worth while. Prepare to feel like you're in third grade with all of her work sheets while also having way too much expected of you. Plus she made us buy $100 textbooks that we never used. Horrible.

Wendy is so sweet and kind! Yes she is a heavy marker, however she is very kind and I actually liked attended her class! She does give a lot of essay work, but this is only for your own good! Not to mention, she gives great feed back.. even though her writing may be hard to read. Overall Wendy is a really nice teacher and i recommend her!

Wendy is an okay prof. She expects her students to understand every little thing she teaches right away. Her lectures are very mono tone and boring making it hard to stay awake during class. She does give an outline for the term indicating what is due when at the start of the term, you just have to do a lot of work outside of class.

Wendy is an amazing and thorough instructor of first year English! She is accessible outside of class and makes the time to help you understand and improve. She challenges you in her course - so you do have to work for the grade but you definitely become a more skilled writer! She also helps students who need accommodations and she really cares.
Wendy is caring and is a tough marker but she sets you up so well for your future classes. I took Wendy in first year and I am now in 3rd year I still look back and reference the sheets that were provided by Wendy. She may make you work for it but she sets you up for success for the rest of your uni life.
She is not helpful at all. I've attended almost every office hour to get a better feedback on my essays yet her feedbacks are never helpful. Just hard marker, almost unfair. The only reason I ended up in her class is the fact that it was my first semester so I didn't look her up.
I think Professor Smith would be much better suited in a classroom environment instead of an online portal. Hurt the class dynamic. Having said that, Wendy is considerate and does everything she can to help you pass the course, so that's a win.
Lectures are pretty long-winded and unconcise. Most of her material is in readings that she posts all at the beginning of the class, so her moodle page is a tad overwhelming. She is easy to reach online and very nice during lectures. Marks like other profs, but has extensive and very helpful feedback where it is required. I skip the lectures.
