Wendy is an A+ inst. who cares about her students; if you meet her halfway she will work with you to ensure that you understand the material. I suck at math and I got an A in her class. I utilized her office hours a lot, which was the most help.
Mrs. Smith is really nice. She helps her students with everything and she is an awsome teacher to have!
I loved her. she was really helpful and her notes were easy to understand. Highly recommended.
she does not know how to explain herself, she makes it harder than it really is
Very easy class if you pay attention and take notes. She goes out of her way to work with her students, great teacher..

Hello!!! I kept reading the comments and thinking that the other students must have had a completely different professor. I was passing (before the Final that is) and then when I made one low grade she failed me! What a waste of my brain and time.
I grew tired of dealing with her daily miscalculations while working problems on the transparencies. She was anything but well-prepared, as often she forgot HOW to explain her own math examples. Find someone who won't "forget" how to teach the
Well... i failed this course with another instructor last semester. So far, I have an A in her class! If you actually PAY ATTENTION to her you won't have a problem with this class. Homework due once a week or so, 3 tests and a final. She's great!!!
Sometimes difficult to follow with her miscalculations and ill-prepared examples. Extremely helpful and cheerful attitude, she just talks too fast! Not a bad teacher though, would recommend.
She is a great teacher. I had her for Math 1410 and 1420, now I have her for 1530. She goes out of her way to help students in any way possible. She's an awesome teacher.
She's not easy, but she's usually pretty fair. Extremely nice, down to earth, and willing to help! I don't like math, but she explains it in a way that appeals to most (and even covers the basics). She's a neat lady!
Very easy to understand if you pay attention. Do all homework assigned and meat with her in her office if you don't understand material. She will go out of her way to help you learn, but you have to be willing to try!
She does teach fairly well, if you like having to write extremely fast and until your hand completely falls off. Her tests are not that easy. I understand everything completely in class and then her tests just suck!! I would never take her again.
I think I had a different teacher too.. This was a hard class.. and she wasn't a very good teacher.. she skipped steps and expected us to know what the heck she was doing. And she graded her tests extremely hard.
Tests are much harder than the homework - moves through the material very fast.
The most difficult teacher ever. Moves through the material very fast. She makes many mistakes often in her teaching, so watch out. The tests and the homework are extremely hard. I love math, but I am struggling to get a C in the class. Do not take her!!!
goes to fast doesn't review before a test.
She was not good at explaining anything! She went very fast and refused to slow down when you were confused. Don't take her! She will not help you at all! Her tests are only a few questions but they are ridiculous! Not anything close to what goes on in class.
Good teacher, explains everything, easy class
She is a good teach and an easy class. I dont like grading I got a c because I slept through class and failed 1 test when I was sick. She is very very very HOT!!!!!!!!!! ;) Just wanted to say that to someone!!!!!!!
She often told the class that she was available to help if a student had a problem. Three times I asked for help. Not once did she give me the time or help. I did get a B. I received As in all my five other math classes including calculus.
She was not very clear at all and she went through it so fast that I got lost often. Also, I could do great on the homework and WebCT but the tests were so much harder and so totally different!
I FAILED her class and I'm a senior that has never failed a class before. Though not her fault, the class was way to large so there was no one on one association. I'll not be taking her again for prob/stat. She does seem very nice but she just goes so fast especially for such a big class.
I thought this class was easy, but many others did not. She could be hateful at times. I would recommend her class but I would advise you not to talk to her or ask for help unless necessary.
worst teacher ever. Dont take her class unless you are desperate...
Even though the class was pretty challenging, I think that Dr. Smith does a great job of teaching it. She definitely knows her stuff, & she gives a very good step by step approach to all the information. If you come to class, write down everything she writes on the overhead, and study, you'll do great...It all depends on the effort you give.
seems like she knows what she's doing and she explains things thoroughly and well. her voice and jokes are a little annoying.

Dr. Smith is a great teacher. Write down EVERYTHING on the overhead and you will do okay...STUDY and you'll do great.
This class can be hard if you miss anything or don't study, but as long as you study, you'll be fine. If you have problems, she's very helpful. She's a really great teacher.
She can be very confusing in class, but if you go up to her, she will clarify things. I think part of what made this class difficult is the material. It is a little dry and boring, but do your homework!
Good teacher. Hard Material. She goes WAY fast. Just study and practice and work together on the homewrok and you'll be fine.
If I could sum it up in one word I would say "horrible" She goes around your questions and the tests are way out in left field. Not a taker.
I wouldn't buy the book until after you start the class, it is only for if you need extra practice. She is very helpful, and responds to her emails very fast. Some class periods go by real slow, and some days just fly by! It's easy to understand her teaching, just pay attention and learn the formulas.
She is a very good teacher. I liked her alot. She goes a little fast sometimes but is very willing to help you in any way she can if you ask. You really dont use the book and you might not need it unless you need more practice but really great teacher!!!
She is a great teacher and she knows what she is talking about. She responds to emails. Write down everything she does, study notes and handouts, do the homework online, and you will do fine on the tests and in the class.
She is a really good teacher. I have learned alot in this class. She ALWAYS helped me when I needed it. always do your online hw, study for the test. they are not that hard... similiar to the HW. I havent used the book alot but sometimes it came in handy for studying or extra practice
She is a wonderful teacher- very clear, helpful, and informative. The online homework was relatively easy; the tests were a tad difficult, but definitely managable with studying. She also gave us a few chances for bonus points, which helped a lot. The material isn't exciting, but if you have to have this class, I highly reccommend Dr. Smith!
I made a B in her class, and I was really surprised. Math is not my strong subject and I had to really study hard in this class. She is a good teacher, but doesn't explain everything, so you have to take some time, work stuff out on your own, and teach some of it to yourself.Take her, she will help you,P.S.-study the vocabulary!!!!
she is a good teacher. if you dont understand in class go and see her in her office hours. she willing to help you no matter how dumb the question. it helps if you have the text book. she is really throrugh in class. tests arent that hard.
Mrs. Smith is a good teacher i suppose. Keep in mind i HATE statistics. However, she is helpful and if i had to choose someone to have for a class i would choose her all over again. Tests are somewhat difficult but not impossible with a little studying. If you do the online tests and study plans u will be just fine!
Class was awful! Totally confusing. I dreaded this class everyday, and it wasn't because I hate math. She was really hard for me to follow, and the tests kicked my butt. I am an average student, and I studied and did the online homework(which was very stressful) and attended class daily. I don't think teaching was her true calling.
I thought that Mrs. Smith was a great teacher!!! She gives fill in the blank notes and teaches straight from them!! You get as many attempts as you want on the homework!! Only 4 tests a year that aren't overly hard!!! I would reccommend her to anyone!!!
Dr. Smith was extremely helpful but be ready to do homework and you will definately have to work for an A. She gives NO extra credit!!!
I'm not completely sure why but I thought she was hilarious. The class seems like it should be really easy but at times it is pretty difficult. Not the best teacher in the world but not the worst either. If you do the online homeowork and use the online practice problems to review for tests an A is manageable, but it's not easy.
Dr. Smith was great! This is a pretty hard class, but she's more than willing to help. Homework is online and you can take it as often as you want. She responds quickly to emails. Her tests are different from the online homework and somewhat difficult. Great professor overall.. she's funny, and she really knows her stuff!
I thought she was excellent. She was clear and tried to write down all the steps to the problems she was working. Tests were similar to the homework online and practice problems in the book. Look in the book to learn how to do the things on your TI83+
Good instructor and fair. You must study and do the homework and go over notes before exams. Gives handouts but you need book for access to MathXL lab online.
Great teacher. Made the class interesting. Do homework and go over notes. Book necessary for access to online Math lab.
do the math xl if you want to pass. she doesnt take the homework up but it will help you if you do it for the practice, she was great with answering questions and is more than willing to help her students and answer questions. i advise taking wendy.
She goes over notes everyday and the online homework is EXTREMELY helpful on tests. I thought she was excellent and more than willing to help! I would definitely recommend taking her!
TAKE HER! Dr. Smith is the easiest teacher. Only 3 test, and online homework. Very helpful and her notes are very easy to understand. she is my favorite teacher.
Personally, I hated this class. Dr. Smith was a sweet lady but her class was extremely boring. I would def. recommend doing the online homework because it helps prepare you for the tests. You can take it as many times as you want for practice or to try for a better grade. As long as you attend class regularly and do the homework, you will do fine.
I had a hard time keeping up. The only thing you do in class is copy notes and she does a few examples. She never gives you problems to in class yourself. Just not the right teacher for me.
definetly the HARDEST class i've had in college..TIME CONSUMING! she was nice and helpful if you took the time to visit her office. she told me i had the highest homework average in the lecture and i had passed every test with a C or higher & still BARELY made a B. would not recommend her and DEFINETLY not the course.. (the book is not necessary)
Incredibly helpful during her office hours. She goes quite fast during her lectures and you're normally pretty lost. However, after looking through the optional HW in the book, it's all repetition. If I had any other teacher I would have absolutely failed due to my own mathematical ineptitude. Dr. Smith was a wonderful, very nice teacher.
Does not help at all. Reads monotonously how to solve problems but dosent really explain how to do the work. No extra credit no curve no help. Would not recommend. My only D in college.
Dr. Smith is a great professor! She is tough, and her tests consist of a great number of "terms and concepts" along with working out specific math problems which was something new to me considering it was a math course. If you pay attention in class and put forth the effort, you will do fine.
I hated probability and stats. On our syllabus it said what book to get, and then she was working from another book. I got some answers right on a test and they were counted wrong for whatever reason. She rambles a lot and "thinks out loud"
I did not like this class at all. One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. She is an average teacher, pretty clear lectures and ready to help when you'll need it because the material is not easy.
Not an extremely hard class, but you do need to show up and try. Professor Smith is super nice outside of class, and will gladly help you with your questions. :)
I dont have ADHD but sitting in this class surely has to be about as close as one can get to the real thing. Mrs. Smith is constantly thinking out loud, hopping from topic to topic and going down rabbit holes. She is very hard to follow and rarely explains problems. No extra credit. No curve. Good luck.
Dr Smith brings energy to a class that easily gets dry. She expects your best, but will happily help you if further explanation is needed.
Wendy Smith is an amazing professor! This course is hard and makes you work for it but she makes this class enjoyable. Do all the homework she assigns because it really does help you and make sure to know all of the Pre-Cal information before the first test.
Dr. Smith is very smart but not a good professor for this class. She does not give any extra credit and her tests are very difficult. She constantly moves from topic to topic which makes it very hard to follow. She never tells you your current grade so you do not know if you are passing or not until the final grades are posted by the university.
Dr. Smith is a kind-hearted person, but not an efficient instructor. None of the homework is beneficial to the learning process, it's all in quiz format on iLearn. You don't actually figure out how to correct your mistakes. She also goes too fast during lecture, and is very broad about multiple subjects. Leaves class frustrated. Would not recommend
She's nice but her teaching is less than desirable. She answers questions in a confusing way and I really dislike the way notes are taken in this class. It's one of those classes where she makes up the lecture notes for you and fills them. She is not available outside class. There've been times where I've emailed her and she hasn't responded.
Very hard to keep up with, or understand if she does explain a problem. No extra credit. No retakes. No curve. Lots of homework. I am so stressed every time I think about this class and I may withdraw. No clue about your grade until after midterms come around.
Professor Smith is a nice person, but she is not good at teaching stats. This is the hardest class Ive ever taken. Most of our grade comes from our exams, which are extremely difficult. You can only miss 30 points total to get an A in the class overall. Her explanations for everything are confusing. I do not recommend.
Professor Smith is a good person. Good professor? No! She assigns loads of homework anywhere from 20 to 30 problems each and expected them due the very next class. She will give you a problem set to study for the tests. But when you receive the test its like she expects you to be a stats wiz. She worded all her test to be super confusing.
I've taken her for 2 semesters now (1710 and 1910) and she is the greatest math teacher I've had. Her class is a discussion about how the methods make sense and also common mistakes students make. Homework for her is more about understanding concepts, so you just work the ones that you need to to grasp the topic as long as you can show you know it.
Math is my least favorite thing, but Professor Smith made it *almost* enjoyable. The homework she gives is minimal for a math class and she has office hours almost every day. She is very accessible and wants to help you make a good grade. I've had tons of professors and she's been one of my most favorite ones. 10/10 recommend.
Mrs. Smith is nice :) She makes her lectures extremely easy to follow and she provides note guides that make it so much better. Homework assignments every week but it isn't bad. Tests are about average difficulty. I would def reccomend her just for her personality.
Her second semester teaching online classes and she moves at an insane pace compared to other online classes. A lot of students taking online classes who are working cannot invest the time to study the material properly and the problems she assigns takes up to 6 hours to do each section even with a proper understanding of the material.
Wendy Smith is a really nice person who will help you in office hours any day, anytime. Yet, her expectations for her students are astronomical and unrealistic. Even though the class was WebOnline and we got 30 minute lectures, her expectations are the same as if we were getting 4 hours of instruction from her. She expects 15 hours of calc a week.
Wendy is my favorite professor i've ever had and I was really dreading this class bc I hate math, but she is so sweet and funny and is literally accessible every day if you need extra help.
Professor Smith teaches by fill in notes so if that is not how you learn I do not recommend. Her tests are very short, you have to know the material to pass.
Dr. Smith is great statistics professor. Her lectures come with pre-made notes, so it's very easy to follow along. There is only the roughly 15 homework assignments and 3 tests prior to the final. She is easily reached during office hours for any questions.
I hate math, so the bar is already on the floor with this one. She teaches through fill-in-the-blank notes that, in my opinion, struggle to help anyone learn. Homework is very heavy, and her test format changes throughout the semester. Not sure how I made a B.
She sucks man, awful, made me sad. Don't take this if you want to avoid saying at any rate.
Don't expect her to grade homework on time or answer emails. Also her attitude can come off as rude and nasty. This is my second attempt at this class and it's just as awful as the first.
Professor Smith is a horrible professor. She is terrible at explaining, and blamed the class's bad grades on "not studying". After trying really hard to understand the material, her lectures and explanations lead me to more confusion. I definitely do not recommend this professor, especially if you struggle in math.
Dr Wendy is a delightful lady with immense compassion for her students. She offers extra credit and will use your final exam to replace one of the other exams. She is always ready to help and brings a wonderful ready to learn aura to the class! I would recommend her for stats any day
She was very hard to understand. Her attitude was not very nice. She acted like you should know everything after her saying it one time. She had a very smart mouth on her.
Notes are fill in the blank and easy to follow, there is a homework set for every notes unit but its honestly helpful to test if you know whats going on. Shes willing to help during office hours if you need
She uses note taking guides and gives you an extra credit assignment for each test that's a study guide you fill out, so she really sets you up for success. You have to be lazy or dumb to try and fail this class. Intro to Stats isn't the end of the world. She also starts very basic and builds from there, so go to class.
Wendy knows statistics, but her explanations are often much more difficult than they need to be. There were also several problems with the homework that were difficult to bring to her attention. She very often does not answer emails and office hours are crowded. I would be wary of taking her is you do not feel confident in math.
This is the worst teacher I have had at Tennessee Tech so far. She assigns homework twice a week but never actually tells you how to do it. Her notes during her class are fill-in-the-blank and she chicken scratches the formulas on there and basically says good luck figuring out how to do it.
This professor does know her statistics but her explanations are hard to understand. There is 2 homework assignments online per week and often take a while. Her tests are hard but there is extra credit but it's only 3 points and is not always worth doing the assignment.
Absolute worrst professor. She scratches down notes to copy, and they rarely benefit you when doing homework or exams. I have A's in all other classes with minimal studying. I spend over 12 hours a week teaching myself the content she fails to explain. Office hours are worthless, she does not answer emails. Do everything to avoid this professor.
Dr. Smith is probably the best professor you can have for the 1904-1906 series. She explains concepts pretty well and is always willing to answer a clarifying question. She is always available by email or office hours (which are placed at a decent time). Overall, if you choose to go for the 1904-1906 series, pick this professor 4.5/5
This professor is amazing! I took her class for both calc and stats. She is very great at explaining the material and is always up to answer any questions that you may have. It is very obvious that she cares about her students and their understanding of the material, as long as they show the effort to learn. I would take her class again if I could!
She is very thorough and explains the concepts in a clear way. She is also very kind and has a passion for what she teaches. Definitely recommend for stats.
Dr. Smith is a great professor for this class. She provides a note packet that you fill out as you go, and she lets you write one-page note summaries before each exam for extra credit. Homework is frequent, but doing it helps you understand the content and do well on her exams. She created the class, so she really cares about student success.
The worst math teacher I've ever had. Do not take her. You can't understand what she is trying to explain, doesn't show you how to use your calculator, and the notes don't help. If you want to hear “at any rate” all the time then this class is for you.
I have her for stats and this class is honestly the first time I ever struggled with math, she knows the material but she struggles with teaching it. She teaches via guided notes and 2 lengthy homework assignments a week. If you are confident in teaching yourself she's good but if you need genuine help with math I would not recommend her.
She clearly knows what she's talking about but is not good at teaching it. Guided notes are the only notes we get and they are not very helpful when reviewing for homework or studying. Don't take this class if you aren't confident in math already or are not able to basically reteach yourself the subject outside of class. Easy subject, bad teacher.
Take literally any other teacher, specifically Mr. Hank
Honestly Dr. Smith was nice as a person, but as a professor she was unbearable. In office hours to help, she would sit there and act like you already knew what you were doing. Good luck if you cant teach yourself, because thats what you'll have to do.
I have never struggled so bad in a math class until this one.
Wendy has a specific teaching style that takes some getting used to. The notes and extra credit assignments are helpful, but her explanations can be unclear at times. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for test prep.
She is very nice and caring. You will have to do some work, but it should not be that hard to get a good grade. She is always willing to help or tutor if you need any help. I would recommend.
She is nice, but her lecture style was not for me. I don't know how to explain it other than faster and information-filled, so if you can keep up, I would say take her class.
