Worst professor ever, without a doubt. She was not clear, boring, and mean. She likes to fail people, and then not discuss what they did wrong, instead, she gets mad and yells at them. DO NOT TAKE HER. She is very unclear and the worst teacher I have taken at school so far. She unfairly marks quizzes, trying to correct English grammar that is correct, even though she is not a native speaker. It seems to me that she was bias and unfair to younger students and males. Very unclear, half the time she does a problem on the board she gets an incorrect answer. Rude when questioned, and very surly when you gets flustered.

It is clear that she is brilliant & that she knows the material BUT she is incapable of actually teaching it. If you are good w/ math & theory & you can teach yourself from the book & HW then you might be fine in her class. If you need a teacher that actually teaches, then steer clear of her classes. She can't teach and is very frustrating.

I feel bad saying it, but she is literally the worst teacher I've ever had. I failed the class along with basically everyone else. She doesn't review tests, and calls us lazy, and doesn't give out answers because she "doesn't have the answers". DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

She is a not good instructor, and she will be more than likely to screw you over. I ended up dropping her class along with everyone else, the semester started with 40 students and not has less than 20. Her lectures are not helpful and when asked a question will tell you to look in your book. Horrible teacher, avoid her at all cost.

This teacher was nothing short of awful. I've always been good at math until I took Statistics with Miao. She is not clear whatsoever, and does not like going over concepts when students need clarification. It's as if she feels it's a waste of time if her students need help. DON'T TAKE HER.

I have been readying the comments for Miao and everybody that liked her as a teacher had her for math 32...i had her for math 54 and i hated it...so that should give you a big heads up. the thing that makes me really mad about the professor is that she questions herself, she is suppose to know the material but she doesnt.

The worst teacher. She is nice and all but as a teacher, she is horrid. When you ask her for help in class she will just say "I already explained it" Very unhelpful and lazy. She gets confused a lot and does not speak clearly. She does not even come prepared for class! She comes in looks at the book & says "Lets see what I have to teach you today."

I am really good in math and thought that since I have taken a similar class it would be easy. Professor Miao as the rare capacity to make one of the easiest class offered at smc AKA math 32 a hard one. She doesn't explain things clearly. Some questions on her tests are here just to confuse her students. She takes a certain pride and self accomplishment by having a very low passing rate on this class who isn't even a college level class

RUN don't walk. She doesn't teach very well, and gives pop quizzes on same-day material. I wouldn't have had a problem with this if I could have understood her. Also, she'll keep the class late, and if you leave to get to your next class on time she'll give you a 0. Really messed up.

This professor is the worst of all. It's a guaranteed fail with her. More than half the class dropped. No one understands her and she wants everything her way. She has been the hardest teacher I have ever had to deal with. Any of these reviews that say she is funny or witty are stupid. She TRIES to be funny but is just annoying. Every conversation that I have had with her have ended with me being frustrated and walking out of the room. She does not speak good english either. Test are not to hard though.

Beware of Wendy Tu she will take points away for anything. she is not very clear and get caught up in her own thoughts, get back to the point lady. It makes sense that she isn't technically a professor because professors invest them selves into the success of there students they don't try to find any way to make them fail

Although well-meaning, Dr. Tu is not a good teacher. No one knows what's going on in class. The homework is completely useless in preparing for tests, and she works very very loosely from the textbook. On top of that, her office hours are just as confusing as her lectures. I cannot with good conscience recommend her.

I really should have gotten out while I could. After the first class I knew her class was going to be a challenge, but that is an understatement. She has a very strong accent that is hard to understand, and every time I asked questions she made me more confused. If it looks like everyone's confused shell say jokingly " looks ,like you guys need a quiz," and she gives a quiz which everyone fails. She makes an easy subject seem like rocket science

She only allows students to call her, "Dr. Tu," and when you ask questions, she gives answers like, "do it yourself," because her ego thinks its a waste of time explaining. Her homework does pertain to the lessons, but has unnecessarily hard and time-consuming problems.

This teacher is a very nice person. That being said, her class was impossible. I received A's in the 4 other courses I took this term and I most likely failed this class. Her arbitrary rules, scatterbrained teaching style, and accumulative final nearly killed me. Good luck.

She's the most unclear professor that I've had. If I had the option of taking Stats with another professor, then I would have. I am normally not one to complain, but she writes her exams in an unclear manner. I don't like her teaching methods because she doesn't follow the book. WORST professor at SMC. She has the most vague instructions, yet the strictest grading. You cannot make-up assignments/tests if you are late/absent even if you have a doctors note and give advance notice. She does not care about you. According to Canvas, the grade average for assignments/test is 52%.She's a nice person, but a low quality teacher!!

Worst professor I have taken, do yourself a favor and don't take this class. She takes off points for the smallest things, and teaches us really hard and confusing concepts which are unnecessary. She subbed for us for 8 weeks, and when the original teacher came back, we had to redo a whole chapter because we had no idea what professor Tu taught us.

Grades way too unfairly on things that are trivial even though you can demonstrate knowledge. Does not curve. Does not let you leave class to use restroom even though we are all grown adults! This class was a blow to my GPA, if you can stay away, please do so for your own good.

Most of the time I'm a nice guy, but but this is an exception. Do. Not. Take. Her. It's hard to understand her sometimes due to her accent. She controls restroom time, she doesn't give an inch and grades unfairly. Example, EVEN THOUGH SHE AGREED THAT THE MATH WAS correct, she took 50% off a HW because I drew free hand instead of with the tool.

Shes very difficult. Every class lecture you have homework to turn in. Hw assignment are different compare to her exams. Shes too much, shes treating as if math 32 was a 5 unit math class. You cant use the restroom because it disturbs her lecture . what is this high school? She expects you to understand the book page by page.

She does not give explanation for wrong answers which would help students master concepts. Gives homework that is not reflected in tests and quizzes. Barely uses textbook so it is hard to match textbook to what she teaches in class. She is lecture heavy as she talks and uses board a lot and moves on to something new fast.

Her lectures are contexts-based with very little mathematics involved. Sounds great in theory, but instantly gets confusing based on contradictions she makes in all her lectures. Her tests involve little math but with no explanation on how to interpret. Her term paper has no specific outline and doesnt explain what she expects from her students.

100% do NOT recommend. Her explanations are over complicated. Almost everybody are completely lost in this class. When students ask questions she sighs and rolls her eyes. Mostly comes off as condescending when answering our questions. If anything, a math teacher should be the MOST patient with students, as this class isn't always easy to grasp.

Do not take this teacher. Her explanations are unclear, she makes you feel dumb when asking questions by rolling her eyes/sighing/getting mad at you, and even for extreme circumstances (like funerals, hospital visits, etc) with proof and a note she will not let you make up any tests and therefore you receive a 0 and impossible to ace. Her teaching methods are a joke. Her lectures are difficult to understand and tests solemnly depend her lectures. Her homework assignments are heavy at times and it overworks you for what you're not gonna study for. She doesn't allow TI-83/84 calculators in class nor tests. Recommend that you don't take her unless you absolutely need the credits.

Dr Tu was the worst instructor that i have ever had. She seemed to be intentionally confusing. Her lectures were all over the map. If you are 5 minutes late to class she will not except homework. She was also extremely paranoid and when i asked her questions she would ask me if i'm attacking her. This instructor should be avoided at all cost.

My experience will definitely have slightly more bias than rest solely because I am one the first class's that she's had to transition online. With that being said this experience of online teaching has been horrible we are currently about five weeks behind schedule and with that in mid she seems to care very little. Dr. Tu is a kind and sweet woman so I dont want to be mean, but her class was truly awful. It was made worse by being online but she is truly horrible at relaying the info you need to know for the test. Her tests are based on her lectures and they are unbelievably difficult to follow. Literally one of the worst professors I've taken here at SMC. She is so confusing abo her tests and lectures. Also, she forgets what she' teaching. She would tell us later that she did something wrong after a whole complete lecture. I found her response to the pandemic alarming, attendance was mandatory and told everyone to not come in sick, if you were absent you would be penalized and unable to make up tests if you were absent, "eat a lemon and its skin." NOT THE RIGHT ANSWER. She seemed to intentionally trick students. Only class I did poorly in and so I had to withdrawal.

I had to drop this class cause she goes through the lectures very fast and sometimes she doesn't know what she is talking about and makes mistakes throughout lectures. She makes her quizzes difficult for no reason. I took statistics in high school and it was an easy class but she makes her class difficult also she is unclear with instructions

Before you take her class. Be aware she doesn't let you go over your old tests. Makes multiple mistakes in her lectures which contributes to the disorganization. I've had bad professors but nothing comes close to her it's honestly almost impressive.

I love math, and am taking this in HS. Rigorous math especially. This class claims to be rigorous, but treats the students with less respect than 9th graders - and all rigor is remembering the number of every theorem in the textbook. The first 3 quizes were based on her memory of a textbook that went out of print, with no ability to self study. GL.

She is a sweet person but not a good professor. First of all you have to pay to even access your homework and pay for a textbook. She assigns lots of homework that takes hours to complete. Her test are impossible to pass. Had to withdraw after a month.

Dr. Tu is very critical of students and likes to passive aggressively call people out for not paying attention, even when they are but are just confused. Take this class if you want to be humiliated and dread joining the mandatory meetings for fear of failure. Definitely not a comfortable or healthy learning environment.

Easily one of the worst professors I've had. As of writing this review, ⅔ of my class has already dropped out of her course. Pop quiz's are frequent so you better hope that you immediately understand everything she teaches. Online quiz's are just blatantly unfair. Her written questions are difficult to read/understand. After successfully passing math with a B with a different professor a year after withdrawing from this course since I was looking at an F. I can easily reflect and say she doesn't know how to teach. Never told us what type of calculator to use (Ti-84) and simply said to buy a scientific calculator. Look for a different professor.
