She lectures straight from the book, very boring. She doesn't seem to have much knowledge about religions, she seems to get her knowledge from fiction books such as the DiVinci Code. She pushes her political beliefs. She also makes claim that can't be backed up.
Dr.White is an excellent teacher. She's very helpful with the essay final and will correct it as many times as you want because she really wants you to get an A. There's no midterm and an essay final, but she gives you the question on the first day of class.
Wendy White is an excellent teacher, very very knowledgable about religion! NEVER pushes her views on her student. very chill, explains things extremely well. always lets everyone speak their opinion. take her class if u want to learn a lot and have fun! YOU WENDY WHITE NOW!!!!!! :)
great teacher incredibly smart and interesting, DOES NOT PUSH POLITICAL VIEWS ON HER STUDENTS AT ALL! DOESNT lecture right ouf of the book, gets her sources from everywhere! fun, informative and ggreeeeeeeatttt take any of her classes im sure all of them are wonderful! I GIVE HER AN A PLUS PLUS PLUS
She has alot of knowledge, but not in Religion. She is very laid back and cool, but I did not get much out of the class. She lectures straight fro mthe book. If there was not attendance points, there would be no reason to go to the class if you read the book. I was bored, but I got an A.
She's very knowledgable and passionate about what she is teaching. I felt discouraged at first by the reading but once she started talking, I felt empowered. She's a very well spoken and motivating. Her class is an eye opener: an experience
Yeah she's a great professor, she really knows what she's talking about. Her class is pretty easy if you just keep up with the reading and talk during converstion hour. I highly recommend her.
I took this class last quarter and got an A. Show up to class, PARTICIPATE, do the discussions, ace the final paper, and you'll get an A. If you hate going to class this is not the place for you.
this teacher SUCKS.I never say that about teachers, but she seriously does. She's way too opinionated and grades unfairly. There's too much hw and the tests are hard.On the first test, there were like 2 A's, a few B's and most students got D's & F's.I dont know what everyone else is talking about, but I thought she was a horrible teacher.
i reallyt like this professor. she is really nice, she knows what shes talking about and is always willing to help a student. im failing her class on behalf tho. i have not had time to do all her work with my busy schedule and lack of motivation, but if you really pay attention you should pass in no time!
This teacher is really good, she explains clearly and you believe that she's a religous teacher but she's an atheist. she's a doct. so she knows what she's talking about ! Not a really easy class you have to do the work and be specific. But If you do all the work you will do good ! NOt lower than a C, I promise !she goes on a curve by d way
All I can say is Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!! Dr. White knows what she is talking about! She is very very clear in the way she speaks and teaches. All you have to do is pay attention and do ur work!
she's really easy but its actually a lot of work. chapter reviews, scrapbook, final essays, and video dyads/councils. if you don't mind actually doing work she's great.
I am an EDC and a DSS student. This Professor is good one to take. She is challenging. If you do what is expected of you. You should be fine. She is willing to help out any way she can to help you pass. Lots of reading, quizes, and dyads. A final you can work on all quarter and a scrapbook, plus chapter reviews. Lots of work, but a great class.
Dr. White is really nice, she seems hard in the beginning, but if you talk to her, she is always willing to work with you. It is a lot of work for that class, but you will learn something.
she is great and very clear. I loved her class and learned a lot. TAKE HER!!!
To all those who thinks she's hard, lets just say I missed several homework assignments and several quizes and ended up with a B. If you don't bother to ask questions and sit on your butt, you can't really enjoy this class. Even asking a few questions per class makes it fun, and she's willing to help her students even if she's pressed for time.
Her assignments are easy but her tests are hard. You have to really read the book and pay attention in class. Make sure you bring your book to class every meeting. She goes over the info from the book. You should highlight all of the major points she goes over in class. Attend class when she shows videos, they are on the tests also
At first her class seems dull but u'll appreciate that shes not trying to make religion a contraversial subject. This class could easily be 30 ppl arguing why their religion is better. The text is good so its not hard reading it... her assignments are long but very easy. She has vocab quizes once every 2 weeks. She doesn't ask a lot and she cares.
She is a biased teacher! If you do not agree with her point of view, she will not grade your papers fairly! If you try asking questions about requirements, she is unclear. She put words into my mouth that I did not say all semester! She said I wrote statements in my papers that had nothing to do with what I wrote. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
She is kind of a ridiculous teacher. She is one of those teachers who thinks they are the sh** but she isnt at all. She pretty much left our entire class in a state of confusion on the assignments the entire quarter, and if you asked about it, her answers are super unhelpful. She likes for you to figure things out on your own.
Dr White is very open minded. Interesting class to take. Easy A. Exams and quizzes are mostly matching definitions and fill-ins. Great to make friends in, very social environment. She encourages students to discuss and think outside the box. Nice lady! Cool personality.
She is a horrible teacher. She doesn't explain things clearly and if you have a question she still isn't clear about it. She's just not clear... If you email her, don't, she won't ever respond. I got A's and B's duing the course and ended up with a D-... ya, that's what I said. Don't take her course. She's awful.
She knows so much it's almost hypnotizing. There is work and a few announced quizes. She is the type of teacher that wants you to think about things, get to your own conclusions; she will not hold your hand and lead you there. You have to open your mind and think about the stuff she lectures about. Great class that everyone should consider taking.
Easy A if you follow directions. Great social environment. She teaches a lot of revisionist history of Islam and other religions that you won't get elsewhere, but not for long enough. She should make that a separate course.
Take this class if you are prepared to WORK. She's a great teacher, you will learn a lot. The class is generally easy but the chapter reviews, scrapbook, and take home final are very time consuming. Quizzes can be tricky but are not a huge part of the grade.
she's a wonderful/kind person with a very open mind. class is easy as long as you participate, do the assigned work.
Ms. White is a good teacher IF (ah, the lovely IF) she likes you. She plays favorites like crazy. She's biased and even unfair on occasion, and while she seems to know her stuff, it gets covered up by personal junk. I would not recommend this class if you have any intention of contradicting her opinions- she'll blow you off or become unpleasant.
It's an interesting subject, and you can do well in this class if you're prepared to WORK. I mean a lot. This class pretty much consumed all of my free time for the entire quarter. Most of your grade comes from the chapter reviews, scrapbook project, and 35 PAGE take home final, which are easy, they just take a long time.
do not take this class. you will hate this class if the teacher doesnt like you. she really plays favorites in class, and if she doesnt like you, she'll pick at the tiniest little stuff without good reason and with unfair punishment. class is not easy, and there is a lot of work. she is also really biased on what she teaches
weekly work, chapter reviews about 5 pages typed. daily group and video discussion, all graded. actual notes taken on ppt slides, not used. final is a ****, maximum 35 pages. i got to ~20 pages, and still didnt have enough information.
This teacher is biased and unfair. Be careful about her rules for turning in things. Once I turned in a homework with the wrong size font and received 50/100. There's a few vocab quizzes you want to really study for. She knows her material but is biased and expects you to share her same beliefs such as Jesus did not exist. Do not recommend.
She is interesting and very knowledgeable, though her grading is rather hard, and she has many pop quizzes in the first 5 minutes of class so don't be tardy. She also has a habit of locking the door at the start of class so you can't get in and then she punishes you for missing class or in class assignments due to her locking you out. I hated her.
There is a lot of work, If you wil. Chapter reviews, quizzes, movies, If you will. Long annoying final, If you will. Interesting class, a lot of work, but easy, take it if interested in religion, If you will.
She's pretty easy. All you have to do is do the chapter review, participate, and study the vocabs. The tests are pretty easy. You watch a lot of videos.
Dr. White is a very good professor. Her class and lectures are very interesting and comprehensive but when it comes to grading? Boy... she is tough. I worked real hard entire quarter and did a great job on every assignment but still got an ?-A.? However, if you are really into religion and have doubts,JUST TAKE HER.
Great teacher - she is very intimidating at the beginning and the work seeems overwhelming but it is really manageable. She demands respect and as long as you respect her you will go far in the class. She is willing to work with you and is really easy to talk to. She is not as scary as she seems at the beginning.
LOVE THE WAY SHE SPEAKS!
She was ok, there were moments when it was hard to like her. Overall, she did a good job of creating an environment where people could speak about such an intimate and personal subject (which was critical). Don't miss more than 4 classes, speak up in class, there are videos and video forms, vocab exams, journals, chapter reviews, and a final.
Great teacher. Everything is very clear so if you miss class, you don't have to panic. With her syllabus, you always know what is due and when there is a quiz/test. Most of the material was interesting. She expects a lot and she will not put up with talking during class. If you push yourself, you will learn and get a good grade. Highly recommend.
Dr. White is awesome! Period. She's really cool and really open minded. The class is pretty fun but there's a great deal of work which isn't that fun lol.
Amazing teacher, she is so knowledgeable and articulate, makes really interesting points about religion and history that you would otherwise never be exposed to, she requires some work for her class but the main thing is that she is well worth your time, also don't be afraid to ask questions!
Work is tedious, but worth it. Do the readings and follow her lectures is recommended for a good grade.
Dr. White is an amazing teacher who is very animated and clearly has a passion for what she's teaching. She holds no judgement (when it comes to the religion class) and she seems to always be smiling and laughing. The midterm was difficult but the final was a take home essay. I passed with an A and it's been one of the more interesting classes.
Dr. White is awesome, straight up. I was in her class a couple of years ago. I quite honestly hated it because i did not commit to the class, and didnt come in with an open mind. I dropped out of the class half way through. I retook the class this last summer and it was great. A lot of what i learned has stuck with me.
Lots of discussion, lots of reading (but totally manageable because you've usually got a whole weekend) and lots of films to watch. As long as you've got an open mind and are a critical thinker, you'll do great. You can miss 2 reading reviews and still get an A, also there's a huge extra credit option.
Very liberal and biased class. She has somehow turned the storytelling of American culture into how America being the greatest country in the world is just a big myth. Class was very boring filled with reading reviews and movies, and could not wait for the quarter to be over.
She is an awesome teacher who talks very "chill"-like. The class is pretty interesting if you are open-minded. You walk in there as a Christian and walk as an atheist or a Buddhist. SHE IS THAT GOOD! Homework is not fun! Be prepared to do a lot of reading and answering critical thinking questions. Her tests and quizzes are easy tho. GL and HF!
Sooo much work!! Which it's college I don't mind but she does not realize how much work she assigns and how long it takes. When addressed about this in class she very clearly stated that she didn't care. Grades very harsh and unfair, it does not matter how much work you did it depends on who you are.
By far the worst teacher ive have taken at de anza. due to the high rating on this website i though i would take this class and it was a mistake.very liberal view of society and she would scoff at anyone who would have an opposing opinion. work is very tedious. 2 to 3 hours of reading alone, plus 10 definitions of human dignity a week (6-10 pages)
I will honestly say that this is not a very good teacher for many reasons. She isn't very helpful at all and when I asked her a question, she dodged it and beat around the bush for a while until i stopped asking. It very boring with a ton of work and its more of a philosophy class than a history class. Overall, you should pick another teacher.
She's not hard or anything but there's some work invovled. The big thing is her class has actually very little to do with history. There was one class session where we wasted like 30 minutes doing some new age hippie excercise - more like some sort of spirituality class then history. She is off topic and has her head in the clouds. Waste of time/$.
If you want to be writing 10 page papers every week, go ahead and take this class. Her assignments are very tedious, but her test are rather easy. She goes off topic constantly, out of all the history teachers I have taken this class was probably my worst. She should stick to teaching humanities.
If English is not your first language, FORGET IT!! If you love reading a chapter containing 40-50pgs go ahead. Don't get me started on writing her papers..dear God! Overal I had fun in her class but reading was intense!!
very lenient with grading. chapter reviews are hard at first but get easier. tries her best to teach a very controversial subject and does pretty well.
She's not hard but you have to be willing to put in time to get a good grade! Very fair, engaging (if you enjoy the subject), and an easy grader. Took her over summer so the pace was very fast. Vocabulary exams were the hardest but, again, study and you'll do fine. An "A" is very attainable!
I honestly can't recommend the class. She goes off on tangents and wastes time with certain activities that have no bearing on actual history. I had more fun reading the textbook than in class. The tests hardly test historical knowledge. I'll put it the way the guy next to me did: "I can't believe theres a HIST class that made me like HIST less."
Dr. White is a great history instructor. She is passionate about teaching and encourages critical thinking. Dr. White is really nice, and she is very helpful during her office hours. She was like my counselor during the quarter. Keep up with the reading and chapter reviews, pay attention to the lectures, and most importantly, participate!
There are a lot of discussions, so expect to participate a lot. Homework load is not too bad, but be careful not to procrastinate on it. Theres two midterms and 1 final paper. She is friendly, energetic, passionate and helpful.
The syllabus was over 40 pgs and she explained our midterm project on the first day but never mentioned it again until it was due. I would estimate that 3/4 of the students in my class dropped. The class focused not on history, but on 'human dignity' and I learned more from the book than her lectures. I didn't think history could be any more boring
Terrible teacher. Her syllabus for her history classes were 40 pages long that offered very little specificity she was looking for. Whenever asked a question, she does not answer it directly. In class, she focused more on "human dignity" than actual history. I have never seen such terrible teaching methods.
Professor White is one of the professors who really takes students to her heart. For all the people who didn't agree, I will challenge to you to question yourself that how much are you open to the world, and to what extend are you ready for real college? please grow up. This class is true education.
WONDERFUL TEACHER! EXTREMELY HELPFUL. HER CLASS IS A CHALLENGE BUT WELL WORTH IT!!
Extremely easy class if you do all of the homework and participate in class. If you don't like raising your hand and talking in class, then this isn't the class for you. Just read the textbook, print out the assignments, participate occasionally, and you should get an A without much difficulty. Also, you will watch a lot of videos in this class.
Ms. White is one of the best that De Anza has to offer. Granted, there's a lot of work to keep up with throughout the quarter, but if you're looking for a challenge, definitely take this class. If you pass her History 3b class, you will literally be ready to take on any other class at De Anza, no joke. She's very helpful too, so ask her anything.
READ HER SYLLABUS. It's 65 pages long, and she will not go over it in class. In it, it asks for VERY specific details while writing your papers, and if you don't follow instructions, she will not accept the paper. Vocabulary tests are VERY hard but don't count much toward your overall grade. Other than that, she's very nice and knowledgeable!
Dr. White really pushes us to share our opinion about whatever it is we're focusing on for the week. She's really passionate about what she teaches and really wants us to be engaged in our learning so participation is mandatory. She makes the discussions really enjoyable. 2 papers that require quite a bit of deep thinking, but definitely do-able.
First of all, she's a pretty good teacher. My personal advice. READ THE SYLLABUS. I truly mean it, its 64 pages long and she WILL NOT go over it in class. Like ever.... Second. Do not under any circumstances procrastinate in this class. Seriously if you are that person. Chapter questions are in the Syllabus
An absolute joy to have. Teaches with such passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and personal involvement. Makes learning a joy and rewards you with an optimistically informed and clear perspective on spirituality and conformity rendering openness and acceptance to all views. The best teacher at DA
One of the most enthusiastic and passionate profs I've ever had at DA. Her lectures were very interesting and eye-opening. I liked how she got the entire class to talk and express our opinions, and didn't babble on for the two hours like other professors her age. She does seem intimidating at first but don't be afraid to talk to her.
An awesome, knowledgable teacher with incredible passion. Participation is required to get a good grade, actually a big portion of overall grade. The only thing to mention about her is that her syllabus are long and she lost my work.. but overall, Dr. White is an amazing teacher, I do recommend taking her class.
This is one of the hardest classes here at De Anza. The workload is massive and you have a LOT of reading to do, but it's worth it. She is a very kind, gentle person who wants you to succeed and she'll help any way she can. You'll learn a lot from this class and learn to evaluate Human Dignity and the Dignity of Life.
She is a very, very sweet lady, but I started despising her class because of the workload and incessant reading. She is unclear on the "course reader" homework at first which frustrated the entire class. Those course readers will DEFINITELY get on your nerves because they are time consuming and boring. Not sure if I recommend.
Her class is pretty easy overall. Most of the content comes from videos and articles. However, she's unclear about her assignments and doesn't establish a rubric to help with the grading criteria. She also never responded to email. She's a nice lady though. Participation is mandatory part of your grade.
She is the best professor I know. She inspires me and communicates with me. She figured out a system of learning which is to write about what you read. I would take her class again and again.
AVOID HER!!! Worst class ever. She is so confusing. If you do take her. Print the pages out in sections not all together. You learn more from the book. The reading questions are the same for EVERY single chapter. Just avoid taking her. Lost my fee waver because of her. ): Now I cant even afford community college.
SO MUCH WORK! I say avoid this class, its more like a philosophy class and less about the history. If you don't like speaking up in class, don't take this class because its a good portion of your grade.
Let me just say that she changed my life. I have never had such an inspirational professor before. If I could, I'd be just like her. The journals are tough (my 2nd one was 33 pg.'s typed) but was crucial to analyzing the text. I highly recommend her if you're willing to earn your knowledge! She has truly opened my eyes up to our history.
No way ,no help and be ready to spend money on her book that you can only buy new and must buy on line. A ton of homework.
If you're an international student, DO NOT take her class. Massive amount of works, and all of the questions on the works are same. It means that you may not know how to answer each same questions differently. You also have to read a book, and it's very hard for us, international students. If your mother tongue is English, she is OK, I think.
Amazing, inspirational class. Fun class but there is a heavy amount of work. By work, I mean packets and packets of homework and each packet is almost 14 pages EACH. But she'll give you 2-3 weeks to turn it in. NO TESTS, NO QUIZES, EASY FINAL (Project). If you're willing to do some work, you'll get your A.
I loved Ms White! She teaches a very different version of history, focusing on the regular people more so than leaders like normal. The whole class was more of a discussion than a lecture, and we all became friends instead of fellow students. She's very liberal, so if you are not I wouldn't recommend this class. It was an incredible experience!
the first week of class is extremely fun, its just creative and fun group work projects, however its all downhill from there. After that it is lectures, a bunch of hw, boring af videos and "inspirational" lectures. When she thinks she says something inspirational, she'll repeat like she thinks she morgan freeman or something. Nice person though.
If you are the type that loves discussion, this is the class for you. But if you hate it, stay away from this professor. She loves to discuss everything. You need to attend class, the majority of the class is based on two things, discussion and those portfolios. Dont fall behind on doing those, no exams! lots of homework.
Dr White is great teacher straight forward gives you all the work you need to do the first week of class due throughout the semester Watch movies good teacher lots of reading tho just do your work and 12 page final essay but its based of your portfolios so do your portfolios you will be fine
I would say that participation matters in Dr. White's History 3C class, but I carried the entire class discussion the whole quarter and still failed the class. It went from at least 35 students to like maybe 10 consistent students that showed up over the first few weeks. I should've dropped with everyone else. She's real unclear about course materi
She made the class mostly about why America isn't what we think it is. She assigns these long portfolios with 10 questions each for each reading and expects you to watch a two hour long video at home when she couldn't attend class. During lecture, she left power point slides on for only a second not enough to copy down. I would NOT take her again.
This class was the worst class i had ever taken. I was an AP student, but her class is so useless. Its more of a black lives matter class than using your creative brain. she lectures and makes you watch movies... the questions are in a portfolio that you have to answer.. shes not clear on how you want to answer and each portf is worth 3000+ points.
She changed the way I look at history. If you are lazy, then skip this class . If you work hard and love to learn, this is the professor for you. I absolutely loved her class. The journal is long. Plug away at it nightly and you'll be okay . Don't wait for the last minute or you're in trouble.
Harsh grader and gives SO much work. You need to devote at least 4-5 hours everyday for her work. However, she is very understanding of certain situations in life and gives feedback on what to do. You have to let her know though. Never will I take her again.
De Anza has a lot to professors that don't care about your intellectual growth. Professor White is different; she will challenge you academically and intellectually, she will prepare you for university level classes, and will help you to broaden your critical horizons. Love her!
You'll get what you give. Dr. White provides inspiration and an environment of open discussion. I was inspired to travel beyond the material with her assistance. Portfolios are challenging, thought provoking. Not an easy "A." Attendance a must, or you won't keep up. Work the assignments and stay current. She'll make you a better student. She cares.
I love Dr. White. She is a very inspirational professor and the class is an enriching course. If you are looking for a class that will open your mind, challenge yourself and the society we live in, then you should definitely take the class!
Your grade is basically three assignments and participation. Her class "discussions" are more like giving your opinion, where she asks for your thoughts on a chapter or movie (she requires two books). For the three major assignments, just don't procrastinate; they will take a long time. Do your work on time and participate at least once a day.
B.S! Should of been an easy A, did all assignments which are worth thousands of points. (Only 3 assignments in total but are very long about 14-20 papers worth of responces) Would always participate. Got an F because i did not do a presentation. BULL!
This teacher is awful. Makes an echo-chamber for liberals and if you try to spark a discussion she talks down to you and changes the conversation. The grading guidelines she uses are for a 'C', not an A and she's disrespectful to the students. Stay away!
Horrible experience with this teacher. If you have a different opinion than hers she will often try to talk down to you or ignore u. When Trump was inaugurated she devoted the whole class session talking about it, even though it was completely off topic. Got an F for a class that should have been an easy A because I missed one assignment deadline.
She's passionate about her views, which is a good thing if you agree with her, but if you go against her or question her, be prepared to get shut down. It's suppose to be a class with open opinions, but it didn't feel like that to me. Plus she grades you off of portfolios which doesn't have any directions to them, but she expects you to do great.
Amazing teacher! A true inspiration to me. I have gotten A+s in more than one of her courses. I have never learned so much.
There is more than just lecture I learned from Wendy. She helped me discover who I truly am and my potential. She is wise and very eye opening. She alway gives her students space to express their opinion even she doesn't agree on it or when we are off topic. Wendy inspires her students to live their life with passion and desire of knowledges.
I could see why this class might appeal to some students, however I felt like this class was a pseudo intellectual push to find yourself. I think it demanded a lot of students who had a lot of other things going on in their lives. She was often condescending and unrealistic. That being said it was a fairly easy class that provided a lot of freedom.
Great professor, super nice. Lectures are a on the free spirit side but good class. It was a history class but she incorporated philosophy and ethics concepts. Easy assignments, didn't need to come to class every session, no final exam and only a short final research paper. Just needed to read some of a $12 book and some online material to pass.
Do the work. Three assignments more like papers. Mostly lecture and her videos make sure you pay attention to them because they help! Final at the end was a big project and whoever said they did not do a presentation clearly they did not follow the directions in the class. Lectures, lectures, lectures.
Dr White is an amazing Professor! She is very understanding of her students and an inspiration. She has a different teaching style that catches your attention, and keeps you attentive in class. There are big projects to complete but the projects benefit you as a student. I definitely recommend this course with her, shes seriously the best!!
Prof white is by far one of the warmest individuals you will meet. She is wise, passionate, and invested. If you make the effort to hear her: you will learn more from her lectures than the book. There are two HW packets that basically cover every lecture. Be nice, reach her level of investment, do the work, and you'll get an A+.
Dr White is amazing- I took her History 3 series. She gives great feedback and genuinely cares about her students. She focuses on the human experience, so its not just about memorizing dates and facts, theres a LOT of focus on connecting with the masses.
Do not take Dr. White, she disrespects her students in so many ways. Open class discussion for "Creative Minds" class but when your views weren't similar to hers she would embarrass students and shut you down. Hard core liberal and talked about Trump way too much. Went to every lecture, all meetings was her going on and on about her concepts. BAD!
Dr. White is very passionate and connects history to modern times. Her class was less about memorizing facts and more about recognizing patterns. I would avoid taking her if you tend to procrastinate or if you want to keep your head down. She has high expectations. Most of class is a lecture or movie, then a discussion about it.
Not a particularly hard class, but be for unexpected expectations
100% do not recommend for humanities. She was unclear about her assignments and when you ask her about it, she would just dumb you down expecting you to get it. She also humiliates you in class when you dont agree with her ideas or calls you out about what you shouldnt do. Overall the worse class Ive taken at de Anza.
Wendy definitely cares and is enthusiastic about teaching. Total of three projects, all require quite a bit of writing (Some require a lot). Good news is as long as you put in effort, you'll get the points. You are sort of forced to participate in discussion to get an A. Had meditation every week. EC given if you do extra reviews for one project.
Dr. White changed the way I think about history! Her class was truly enjoyable, she provides students with many primary sources. Her expectations are very reasonable for a college class; do the work and you will get a good grade. I took her class as Honors, and am so glad I did. The Honor work is interesting, probably because it is self-directed.
This class was not hard but it was really tedious. You have to be in the zoom meetings to get participation points. You're only graded on a few assignments so if you miss one you'll have a hard time bouncing back if you're trying for an A but if you're responsible, you should be fine. Beware the big assignments take a lot of time.
Her zoom discussions are kinda fun but outside of those theres a lot of redundant writing she makes you do. At times the video lectures get pretty pretentious. She overestimates the time and motivation we have especially during COVID. Missing a homework will really set your grade back a lot. The class is really meant for a lighter course load.
She's a good professor to learn from if you are the type that easily soaks up information. She however, does not respond to emails. If History is your major, do take her as you'll learn a lot. If you need history as GE, look at all options. You must attend to pass and get credit. She provides study guides, which are a little helpful.
Was disappointed bc she painted herself as this inspirational person w a lot of bravado but I felt like it was just show. She was very condescending and would always encourage us to choose our own paths on assignments but then heavily and horribly grade what we came up with, yet got annoyed if you asked specific questions about what to do/not do
Do not take her. She probably has 10 decades of tenure and Im sure thats the only reason shes still teaching. She doesnt seem to care about us students and thats clear even through the fact that she ignores our emails and she clearly said that she ignored our email the last day of the quarter. Shes also very passive aggressive.
She is a teacher who seems inspiration and kind at first and, then she screws you over and leaves you helpless. She gives horrible instructions, grades harshly never responds to emails when you need help, and her lectures are super boring. She clearly does not care about her students like she acts as she does. She does not want to help her students
She does not respond to emails because, in my opinion, she does not want to deal with her student's struggles. In class, we were asked to ask questions after the lecture and a student raised his hand, and as she started talking she said something rude to him and muted him. When all he wanted to do was ask a question the whole class wanted to know.
When first taking this class, I thought of nothing and thought she was just a nice person. A few assignments later, I thought maybe I was just a person who needed to work more on my writing skills. Though in the middle of the course, she hits the class with participation points. It's all about participation. The whole class had a 200/1400. Hate it.
Why become a teacher if you're going to hate every second of it? I tried to ask her questions after class and in front of everyone told me to F off, that I should have paid more attention and to go read her syllabus. I turned every single hw in, went to every class until she stoped giving class for a month, she failed me, my gpa dropped. Don't take
I thought I was dumb because all she did was bring me down, she is constantly making everyone feel as if we are not smart enough, explains very little and gets irritated when you try to ask clarifying questions about assignments. She will also humiliate you in front of everyone if she doesn't agree with your perspective view. Don't take her class.
Talks about being "open minded" for hours; but forces us to study and memorize liberal boomer tier garbage. Cliché at best, insidious at worst. Be "open minded" and "question everything"; but only in her limited view of what is "open minded." Half her class was spent watching Nat Geo documentaries meant for young children. Complete garbage.
I can definitely see why this class would be difficult and tedious as well as work heavy (especially if you dislike politics) but other than that this class was fun. All you really have to do is homework and show up along with participate and you pass. Plus as someone who is a socialist majoring in history, this class was very easy and enjoyable.
Way too much work for a 4 credit class.
This professor was quite easily the worst professor I've had over the course 3 different schools. They were very blatantly grading assignments on their opinion and refused to elaborate lost points no matter the caliber of your work. There is so much more to say, but I don't have the space to write about it... Don't take their classes.
This professor doesn't give a score if she doesn't write an answer to the assignment that she doesn't like. And she only show YouTube in class and it's over. I didn't learned anything, but when I check the canvas, the assignment is up.
I drop the class just from the first week. Give like 5 assignments and one of them is reviewing her website. She told us that if we are international students she give more deadline extinction. So, I email her that I'm international student I need deadline extinction she said she only give if is emergency and she doesn't replied other email at all.
This class is a lot of work, but can be manageable if you stay engaged. The professor can be hit-or-miss - helpful at times, but also prone to discouraging students. Using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can make studying more efficient.
Fully online synchronous class, lots of assignments and I dropped within the first two weeks because of this. The layout and her teaching skills were great but not for me since I work full time and have a family at home.
