Way easy class. Be prepared to sleep.
My favorite professor at Central. She's the best!
She is the nicest teacher I have ever had! I love her and she has inspired me to minor in psychology. She expects a lot but only since she knows her students can handle it.
great teacher and fun class... but if you arent good at tests..... doom
Learning with Williams is the hardest course you will probably ever take. Her tests are hard, and studying for them will take up a lot of time. Lab isn't too hard, just a lot of work. She's a hard teacher, and expects the best from all students who take her class.
Hard and method of teaching and learning is memorization based which is ineffective.
Tough professor, expects a lot from students, but an AWESOME person!

One of my faviorite proffs. Difficult class, but she is very willing to help you out, and is really funny.
Although a really difficult class.... if you want to do well in grad school take it seriously cause the topics do come up again
Although people go in and think it's a hard class, as long as you show up and show interest in the topic, you will do fine.. and the 123 word list isn't that difficult if you make great flashcards

Wendy holds incredibly high expectations for her students. Her assignments are lengthy and her tests are hard. However, you will learn A LOT and develop good study skills if you put the effort into the class. I don't recommend this for first semester freshmen because it is much more difficult that your average 101 class.
I would never take a class from this woman. I was less interested in a topic then I had going into a class due to her "teaching". She talks indecently about other students before class, consistently tests on materials she never covers, and gave out extra credit for writing letters to support a particular candidate for the science honors program.
so helpful, wonderful lectures, thoughtfu, tons of help available
At first she scared the pants off of me, I wasnt sure how I would do. As time went on, I really enjoyed the challenge. I love to be challenged and forced to think. She is an awesome professor and she definately prepares you for Grad classes. The 123 vocab test was a pain, but well worth the tears. I remeber more from her class then from any other.
Have taken her for 2 classes. Both were great. Yes she has high expectations, yes she is opinionated - but she is honest about her biases & about the amount of work it will take to succeed in her classes! If you attend, take notes, & do the work, you will learn an amazing amount from a cool professor.
She is one of the most arrogant instructors I've ever had. She makes personal judgments on her students based on their grades, and favors only those who get good grades. She also has her TAs grade her tests for her which breaks ethical protocol. Her in class behavior attempts to be fun, but comes across as forced; and then there are sex jokes.
She told us at the beginning of the quarter that it would be one of the hardest classes in the psych major, but also one we would learn the most in. That is 100% truth. I've learned so much in her class regardless of any grades I have gotten. She is enthusiastic about teaching and is always willing to help. Really hard class, but great professor.
Wendy is not kidding when she says her course will be hard, time consuming and one of the classes you'll learn the most from. If you plan to take to class and expect a good grade be ready to put in the work.
This woman is amazing. I had her for both Psy301 and Psy303 and she is a great teacher. You will have to work hard in her class, she does have high expectations for her students, but if you just focus on the study guides and don't allow yourself to fall behind you will be okay. The tests are all written, no multiple choice!!!
One of the worst classes I have ever had. I learned a lot but mostly from my book. She is spacey and goes back on her word so if she tells you something make sure you get it in writing. The study guides are absurd. 20+ questions per guide 2-3 guides per test. multiple parts to each question. essay format. I will never take a class from her again
Professor Williams is a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable professor who wants her students to learn. Unfortunately she takes this ideal to intense extremes: if you take a class with her, expect every "quiz" to be like studying for a final, and expect many numerous assignments and discussion participation. You will have to fight to even get a C.
People aren't lying when they say this class is hard. You really have to work for it, but if you work for it, you will pass. She is willing to help in anyway she can. Amazing teacher. The class is just a lot of work.
Wendy is an awesome teacher. Her classes are definitely difficult, but she wants you to pass. Really cares about her students & really makes an effort to help them learn the material correctly.
Awesome professor, she is crazy, in a good way. I would highly recommend taking this class if you are planning to go onto graduate school. Requires a lot of time and effort but I honestly don't think I have ever learned so much from a class. If you put in the time and effort you will get a good grade.
This class lays the foundation for the rest of the major
she is there to answer questions, but often gives answers that are incorrect. I had to refer to diff sources after getting inaccurate information from Dr. Williams. She changes what she says and her requirements for assignments very often, which is so irritating! She also makes things much more complicated than they need to be. Also A LOT OF HWK!
Tough class in general, however she goes out of her way to answer questions. Is always available outside of class, and genuinely cares about her students. I will most definitely be taking another class from her.
Really tough class. Dr. Williams is not an easy person to talk to or get ahold of outside of class if she's not interested in you personally. She's also unorganized. Hw dates and labels were messed up a lot. You have to do this term test of 119 words in 20 mins. I felt exams were poorly worded or meant to trick you. Lecture slides are sloppy.
DO NOT take this class unless you really like this subject. The first day she literally tells you to drop it because it's so hard. I thought she was kidding; big mistake. I am simultaneously taking Behavioral Neuroscience and was more worried about failing this class. Her expectations are of a 400 level. She is super nice and helpful but very hard
Professor Williams is a great teacher and her classes are a lot of fun.
Worst teacher I've ever had and I tell everyone that is in psychology to make sure you never get her. I got screwed over on the proposal that she told my group member that it looked good, and then the first draft says: "The easiest thing to do here is to change your topic and your title. But there will be a one grade deduction on the final paper."
An awesome person if you like a professor who talks, but class is very unorganized. Found it really tough to understand exactly what to do for assignments, and it was as if Wendy did as well because she changes her mind all the time on what she wants / when things are due online. Do not take this class if you are not good at keeping up online.
This class is hard. It's super unorganized and you can't rely on Canvas because she doesn't keep up with it. She says you can contact her through her cell number but never replies. There are 115 points worth of terms that you have to get done by the end of the quarter and honestly I have never learned one. I recommend taking a different professor.
Kind of unorganized, but is very sweet when you talk to her one on one. Shes understanding when unexpected events pop up. She tries to be funny, some times it works and sometimes it does not but overall shes okay
Dr. Williams literally makes up work out of anything. She added on assignments that weren't on the syllabus. You have to take a term test of 115 words in 20 minutes. Her quizzes are ridiculous. I would NOT take her again. Never is available outside of class. Attendance is mandatory but we never do anything in class its a "flipped class".
I came into this class on the last day I could switch my schedule and she told me to drop it immediately and it would be too hard for me to keep up. Sometimes is very condescending and I do wish she would lecture in class but as long as do the work you will pass. Its a lot of work and class sometimes was a waste but I ended up succeeding so
Great on a personal level, very funny and cares about students. Hard course as it is, she makes it harder. But you learn a ton.
You have to be organized and committed. But her classes are great! I took 2 of them. Hard work but worth it! She really cares if you learn!
Amazing prof! Literally the best professor I've ever had
Love her
Professor Williams is perhaps one of the most unorganized and spontaneous professors I have ever had. She does not have clear grading criteria and will tell you that something is good, but then will dock you on it after you turn in the assignment. You have to guess what she wants because what she says and what she does are 2 very different things.
Dr. Williams expectations are unrealistic. She is unclear on assignments and grading specifications. She is very chaotic and does not lecture in class, yet attendance is mandatory. She gives you ridiculously low time limits on quizzes and exams. A 115 term test in 20 minutes. Is impossible to contact outside of class. Very hard class overall.
Dr. Wendy Williams is fun, caring, brilliant, and you can learn from her class most of the time, however, she tends to be unorganized and the work load is nearly impossible if you are taking more than one or two other major classes. She also has "flipped" classes which are sprung on you first day. Essentially online class with mandatory attendance.
Here's the thing. Dr. Williams teaches this course as a flipped class; lectures are online, activities are in class. Reading is mandatory if you want to pass the class. You need to listen to the lectures, read the book, and show up to class to get credit.
Doctor Williams will try to scare you off in the first and second day, but once you get pasted that she is a really great teacher. Her tests can sometimes seem impossible to pass, but if you use all the materials she gives you then you'll get the hang of how her tests are. Groups projects are big in this class, so show up or you'll hurt yourself
just dont
Easily one of the most unorganized and unprofessional professors out there. Not a bad person but not a good professor at all. She goes off on people for no reason and has low patience when it comes to asking valid questions about the assignments in class. Definitely try to avoid her.
I loved having Dr. Williams! She really cares about her students. You have LOTS of homework and LOTS of outside class work, but its so worth it. She makes the class super fun. Shes funny, and wants you to learn and do your best and be successful. You definitely get your money worth.
Wendy is a great person but a terrible prof. Unorganized, does not give clear instructions, and she does what she calls a flipped classroom. This is where not only do u have attendance but also have to watch the lectures at home. She barely knows her own material and acts like the students are the reason they are failing. Do not take.
I would never take her again. She gives not the best clarification on anything from homework assignments to projects to papers. No one knew what they were doing in class... she does not teach at all and if she does people do not understand. I basically had to go on quizlet for help. Note: nothing will help you in this class. better safe than sorry
Dr. Williams might be the worst psych professor I have come across. She really thinks that students are only taking her class and gives an outrageous amount of work to do outside of class. Not to mention, the class is a flipped class so lectures are online and you have to do it in your own time. DO NOT take a class with her.
Dr. Williams is one of the most understanding and flexible professors that I have ever met. There is a lot of work to do (lectures, Term tests, ect.) outside of class, however, if you ever need help then Dr. Williams is always reachable. if you do the work and set a reminder, take it week-by-week, and you'll be alright, I believe in you!
She helped my find internship opportunities that I wouldn't have found on my own. She believes in her students and wants them to learn. This class has is a lot of work but totally worth it.
Awful professor cant take any criticism. Someone told her she had a bad review on here and spent the whole class talking about how she wasnt bothered by it but clearly was. She was dramatic Ive known professors who are racist, sexually harassed their students, but Im the most awful?? She is condensing and rude. She doesnt explain assignments
She acts like students dont have 3/4 other classes and can spend 20+ hours a week studying for only her class. The tests are nothing like the lectures or study guides. The lectures are long and it seems like none of the material is even on the tests. Youre doomed to fail. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. If you have a job or other classes, prepare to fail.
Difficult weekly quizzes make up 80% of the final grade. A term test is assigned with 116 questions and a 20-minute time limit. This class was extremely difficult and very time consuming.
Term test with 116 fill in questions and only 20 minutes to do it. Weekly quizzes that are 22 questions (2 that are short answer) and 20 minutes to do it. Cant go back and forth between questions. Wouldnt recommend
I am a senior at Central Washington and this professor is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. A lot of friends told me that she was a horrible teacher but I had to take her class because this was the last course I needed to graduate. Weekly tests on 50-80 pages of reading. A term test that is 116 definitions you have to define in 20 mins
Most disorganized class I have ever taken, hands down. Expectations were not clear and explanations were hard to come by. TA and Dr. Williams made contradictory statements and instructions. Dr. Williams was harsh and downright rude when giving feedback- even though 90% of the time the instructions were ambiguous at best. Terrible class!!
Worst professor in PSY department. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO PASS
Don't take! If you can't read her mind on what she wants on assignments, be prepared for her to be harsh when you ask for clarification. Somehow, it's your fault if you didn't understand her very unclear and vague instructions. Term tests have 115 terms in 20 mins, and she seems to think this class is the only thing you have going on in your life.
She is not very clear about what she expects to be done the way she wants it to be done, she does provides examples for what she wants but the even the examples she provides is wrong. She is very picky about what she expects and gives an impossible timeline of when everything is due.
Wendy Williams is very rude and judgmental. I did not enjoy learning from her because my group and I would be yelled at by her every zoom call. It got to the point where we dreaded logging on. She piles on way too much homework for an online class and does not respect that students have a life outside of school. Told my group members to quit jobs.
Unclear instructions. Assignments are not always shown on the canvas dashboard so it's easy to miss some, and late work isn't accepted. Tough grader. A LOT of homework. A few weeks into the quarter, I told her I was having a hard time keeping up with work because, among other things, my grandma had just died. She didn't even answer the email.
claimed to be understanding but did not show us any grace when it came to homework. Her class does not translate well to an online format and she does nothing to help with the transition. She has several lectures, a 30 minute assignment, weekly hour long meeting, and a 115 term test, as well as other modules per week. Very cruel to students.
If you can't use respondus lockdown browser don't take classes with her. It's mandatory and she is not lenient about it. You either use the browser or you fail the class, she even says it in the syllabus that you can't complete anything without the browser. On top of this there is a lot of memorization every week.
Worst Professor ever. Imagine spending hours on a study guide for none of that information to be in the tests or quizzes. No respect or understanding of students time and does not understand that you take other classes. I hate to say it but she should not be a professor.
She is a harsh grader and is unclear on her assignments. Her lectures are confusing and in her syllabus it says she expects students to read the chapter (20-30 pages a week) at least three times to succeed in her class... For such a low level class it is not worth it :( Don't take her class unless you wanna be stressed
Shes a very picky grader considering how unclearly her instructions were. All my peers seemed just as confused as I was with certain assignments. She expects a lot of reading done weekly and if you have a kid, a job, or are a full time student I highly do not recommend because you wont have time to do it all and will probably struggle to pass.
Dr. Williams was very caring and wanted students to succeed. I took her class although having no idea how much work it would be. The work was doable but it is very workload heavy. She does, however, give a lot of opportunity for extra credit which balances it out. Would take it again but just know how much work it is.
Professor Williams is one of my favorite professors I've had. This class was homework-heavy, but the way it is paced is very doable especially if you pay attention and work on schedule. She actually cares about her students' success unlike most professors, and wants you to learn.
BY FAR WORST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN. In the first ever zoom meeting she said anyone with jobs likely wouldnt succeed and encouraged us to drop the class. The avg grade for the class on quizzes and assignments never went above 60% and she bragged about it. I had surgery and she told me if I couldnt catch up in 1 week I should drop out, so I did.
Dr. Williams is a very caring teacher, but she is definitely difficult. Most of the tests are definition based, so when you read the chapters, focus on the definitions at the end. There are long zoom lectures that you didn't necessarily have to watch to understand the test. Overall, LOTS of reading and watching vides/lectures. But great personality
Missed two group sessions and dropped me off the class
I am a 4.0 student who does online classes because I work full time. If that is you, DO NOT take a class form Wendy Williams. She is a professor who prides herself on making this class as hard as possible. Between the readings and lectures you should expect 4 hours a day of homework.
I have never had such displeasure in taking someone's class. She public called me out to other students for asking for an actual study guide saying in "all her years of teaching nobody has needed a study guide." I am a 3.6-3.8 student. I average As all year long, and this is the worst class I have ever taken. She penalized me for having covid.
She expects a lot out of you and if you do not have a lot of time to dedicate to her class and her class alone do not take her. She doesnt care about her students and is very strict on some things then others not so much. She makes you redo assignments until they are perfect. Shes just too much.
Dr. Williams was a great teacher. She is very knowledgeable, and she cares a lot about her students. She gave us many many opportunities to make up work. There was A LOT, but this is a college course. The class was straightforward, however, there is a lot of reading and a lot of homework.
Extremely unclear with any kind of instructions. Impossible to get ahold of via email, does not answer for long periods of time. Always wants to have zoom meetings for no reason. She addressed in the syllabus to message her through her personal phone number which is just.... no. She is nice but seems to not know what is going on.
If you take a class with her you'll feel like you bother her by simply existing. She generally doesn't respond to emails but when she does get ready for rudeness and zero help. She has no patience and everything seems to be the student's fault. I felt like a pebble in her shoe instead of a student who paid to be in her class. Just avoid her.
I am at a loss for words when it comes to this course. The amount of work is extremely disrespectful especially to full-time students. There is a 25 minute time limit for a 115 question exam, which is just grossly unrealistic. Be prepared to spend 30+ hours reading over material and watching confusing lectures for bi-weekly quizzes.
This course has a lot of work. It takes the majority of your week to complete her courses. She is willing to help but wants you to do your work and be on time and prepared. She really cares about the students success and wants you to get learn. Can be difficult to work with and short with her students. But her heart is in the right place.
Prof Williams made her expectations clear and was fair. This is a 1 credit, pass/fail class, but I ended up spending a lot of time on the assignments. I ended up failing the first time because I misunderstood one assignment and missed another, but she allowed me to take again and just do those 2 assignments. She was great in 1x1s, and clearly cares
The vocab test is over 150 words. There is less than a minute to read the definition and type the answer. Vocab is just random words she finds important. They're posted at the beginning of the quarter, but she still has mandatory weekly meetings where she goes over the words, her memorization techniques, and her kid's accomplishments. Tough grader.
Great Professor, I took Psych 300 and enjoyed her grading and feedback and teaching style that I have also decided to take Psych. 303 and Psych 200 with her. She prepares you and gives examples of exactly how the assignment should be approached. Also offers a lot of extra credit! she allows re-dues on assignments.
Dr Williams is definitely a tough grader. I pride myself in being structured with my schoolwork, but this class put me through the wringer and I had a hard time keeping up with all my classes but this class was so intense. Her syllabus was pretty clear about what was expected, but in the weekly instructions, we would often get mixed messages.
Although the online format of this course may contribute, Professor Williams assigned an extraordinary amount of both readings (75+ pages/week mandatory) with multiple hours of video lecture also assigned to achieve a reasonable grade on the quizzes. Additionally, there is a 115 word "term" test to be finished in 25 minutes. Would not recommend.
Doesn't give clear writing instructions which leads to her ripping apart your work and rewriting it the way she wants. Requires a group project but doesn't pay attention to make sure all group members are equally participating. She will get petty if you decide to use your own idea for the project instead one the one she picks. Do not recommend.
Changes instructions on a whim, arbitrary grading, doesn't fully explain how to write your paper. She would literally edit her instructions in front of you on zoom, made me wonder how often she changed things during other meetings. Don't recommend. Take literally any other professor.
Never in my life have I been so frustrated with a class/professor, and it was only for one credit. I really do wish Dr. Williams all the best, but I will never take a class with her again. Tough grading, everything has to be done her way, unclear instructions, & lots of coursework.
Combative when you question grading. Unclear instructions for the group project that changed several times throughout the weeks. Took away even more points when I tried to explain that her feedback for what she deducted points for was not correct instead of fixing the grade. My team and I spent hours together almost daily to meet her requirements.
I added this class during the accepted add/drop period and got an email from the professor after the add/drop period had ended, that it was basically unacceptable to add this class because they had already completed 10% of the grading material in the first 5 days, including a test...? Will refuse to take a class by her in the future.
This class requires a minimum of 10-hours/week for the group project. If you lack interest or time, choose a different instructor to avoid inconveniencing your group members. I found the instructor friendly. However, her workload expectations may not be realistic for working parents and adults not living in a dormitory.
The work load was literally just out of this world for me. She constantly asked for work to be turned in to the point where there was no set schedule of when assignments would be due in the class. As a student athlete, it was exhausting trying to pass. If you are working, a part-time student or even a parent I suggest you pick another professor.
This class has been one of the hardest class I have ever took. She grades really hard! I had missed 1 class because I had to go put my dog down she told me "When you miss a meeting, you miss all the assistance. It is no wonder that you found it difficult". After not doing the assignment right. She will make you redo assignments 24/7.
EACH WEEK: 3 chapters to read, densely worded journal articles, handfuls of videos, discussion/replies, a quiz, and a 115 terms test in under 25 minutes. Behavior modification project requires assignments to be turned in throughout the course as well. Your grades or at least your retention of the materials in your other classes WILL suffer. AVOID!
This is the worst class I have ever taken. She expects you to prioritize her class over others and will tell you to drop the class if you need to miss a meeting. There are 2 weekly quizzes, multiple chapters per week, an interactive textbook assignment, and group project assignments. Her proposal handbook is also completely outdated. AVOID!!
Honestly, I loved Wendy. If you keep in contact with her, and maybe show up to a couple of her Zoom meetings she'll quickly become your bestie. She's a bit of a tough grader, and there is a group project in this class. So be prepared for that. She genuinely wants to see her students do well and succeed. Communicate with her and you'll be good!!!
Professor Wendy's class is challenging, but engaging if you stay on top of the work. The group project can be tough, so communicate with your team. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep.
Williams' class is the hardest class I have ever taken period. I am a 4.0 student and I actually respect williams as a person, but her expectations are absolutely ridiculous. She assigns 2 chapters biweekly and 3-7 lecture videos. even when I filled every moment of free time studying, notes, flashcards, it was not enough to get A's on her quizzes.
One of the worst professors I had the displeasure of taking a class for. I had to start saving down the original copies of instructions and rubrics for assignments because she would change them significantly without notice at the last minute and would grade based off of those. Learning = mindless memorization + excessive quizzes to her. Avoid!
She is not qualified to be teaching this class. She has little experience working in the field of behaviorism. Her only experience is being a board member of a job training that uses it but that's it. I found she would contract the text book but when called out. She would state that YOU were wrong nor were her expectations reasonable.
