Very knowledgable; good mix of theory and practical application; kept things interesting; appreciated the casual style/approach; very engaging; the weekend flew by, and I learned a ton! Top 10 and the Sunday potluck were great! If you get the chance, take this course with Wes - it is definitely time well spent!

This class was useful, the professor was not. Wes is a horrible instructor, his approach is far to casual, his curriculum is extremely useless, and his tests are so specific it is ridiculous. I highly reccommend you find any teacher besides Wes, because you will fail with him, and you will learn nothing!

This course was not like any I have taken before. First, we chose our own grade. That didn't mean it was easy. Wes demanded a lot of us, but worked very hard to keep it interesting and enjoyable. He challenged me to think deeply and I learned more about myself and what it means to be a leader than I ever thought I would. Great course; Great Prof!

High energy approach; witty and often entertaining. Strict with things like cell phones & lateness - and a hard marker on written work. He's real and down to earth. I grew to respect his approach and appreciated the practical way he put the material across...it wasn't just lecturing from the textbook. He did a good job.

Took online O.B. with this instructor and found out right away that he was serious about the course, and expected us to be. He doesn't accept late assignments, which upset some people, but I think that is more like the 'real world'. I respected his approach and the way he challenged us to think deeply (and practically) about each topic.

This guy talks fast and and comes across as laid back and casual in his classes. He will get you to participate, but don't be fooled into thinking that his casual tactics make for an easier class. He won't accept late assignments at all, and will hold you accountable, but he's there to help you at the same time. Nice person, smart, tough, but fair.

Just finished taking Business Ethics online with Wes. He's the real deal (I.e.: he takes NAIT's education for the 'real world' slogan to heart). He pushed me, at times frustrated me, but in the end, I grew as a student as a person. If you're a slacker, run away but if you want to push yourself as a student, be sure to take his class...worth it!

More issues with the class than Wes, but his instruction/marking style was no help. You are graded on writing and speaking about yourself and it is borderline unethical. Having a grade on your transcript derived from how well you told personal stories and feelings to an instructor and the rest of a class, shouldn't reflect your formal education.

My least favourite instructor at Nait so far. Rubrics aren't detailed, unnecessarily strict about phone usage, won't post marks and will get upset if you ask, and sends out too many emails. If you want leadership to be an easy class or a mark booster do not take it with Wes. If you want a class where you have to be outgoing and share personal details in front of the whole class take it with Wes. To get a good mark you have to go in-depth. It is manageable but it takes a lot of time and effort.

The only thing I can honestly say I respect is he is clear about what he expects and sticks to it. He gives poor instructions, poor feedback (if any), grades as if you were a PHD student, and does not answer questions. He is dismissive, rude, pretentious, and condescending. He does not help which I am pretty sure is his job.

Wes has grading criteria that is often discordant with the rubric. The feedback he offers is abstract, lacking specificity, and often parroted from the prior assignment regardless of changes to be more congruent based on his feedback. I can compare his marking directly to another professor's and he marks much harder. GPA will drop if taking Wes.

Avoid enrolling in his class. Opt for another instructor if available, even if it means waiting for the next semester. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you're the exception, cause you might not be. And realizing this too late can be detrimental.

Class structure was extremly poor. Large proportion of marks given towards meaningless assignments like forum contributions that most students have ChatGPT write their answers for them. Forum questions and assignments can be overly personal. No recourse against being stuck with a poor group. My advice is stay as far away as you can.

Wes is a tough but rewarding professor. His assignments demand deep self-reflection, and the class can be challenging. However, with effort and engagement, it's a valuable experience. I found Unstuck study helpful for preparing, alongside the course textbook.

There were clear expectations on how to succeed in this class. There was a ton of work but it was manageable through personal planning and scheduling.

I think Wes forgets that the students ultimately pay his wage. 30sec late to class? Locked out. Looking for clarification on an assignment? Good luck getting a straight answer. One time we were not even 5min into class and he sent everyone home because not everyone read the chapter from the textbook. This course is a waste of time/money.

It's called leadership—not avoidance or blame-shifting. If you're complaining about Wes Sallenback at NAIT, you missed the point of the course. The course wasn't about lowering the bar; it was about students rising to meet the clear, achievable standard Wes set. Growth requires effort and attendance. Sheep will always complain about a lion leading

Please be cautious when choosing this professor's class. In my experience, he was extremely difficult and unfair in his grading. Unfortunately, I failed only his course in my final semester, which now requires me to pay additional tuition. I strongly recommend avoiding his class. Don't assume you'll just pass because it's your last semester.

Worst Professor, avoid as much as you can. Missed a deadline early in course thinking deadline was 11pm, send the professor email @ 7:30pm letting him know that I was not aware of deadline and could let me submit the project. Emailed me back stating "You are welcome to remain in course, know that the maximum grad you are able to now attain is 60%."

If you're taking a course with Wes, know that your participation matters and that he's extremely strict on his timelines. You'll also need to read up on the material before class otherwise you'll not have a good experience. I also didn't love the lack of rubrics. With that said, I've taken 2 classes and found passing a non-issue following these

overall a good teacher, online course is just cameras on, talking to each other. you have to read the textbook ahead of class time and he doesn't put a slideshow on screen or anything. so if you're a visual > auditory learner, definitely look for someone else.
