Very funny-makes night class worth taking. You take notes all class, and have a quiz each class. Study the notes for insignificant details and you will make an A!
He is such a funny guy! Always is making jokes about college kids drinking and such. Quiz for each class (once a week/night class) but they are not hard if you look over the notes before. He will help your grade out if he knows you tried! TAKE HIM!!
GREAT CLASS!! I LOVE HIM!!!
Great teacher. Very easy class. I think that's how he wants it to be. Take as a night to pad your GPA.
Is a very interesting teacher who makes you want to learn
He is so awesome! I love him! His tests are very straight forward and he offers extra credit!
He definitely makes this night class worth taking! I would recommend this class. He makes the class fairly entertaining for History. There is a quiz each class, but they count as a third test grade which helps you out. He talks fast, so be ready to write!
Really enjoyed his class, just read and study for the tests and they aren't too bad. He gives extra credit! Study for weekly quizzes. Very Funny.
VERY nice guy, clear and always ready to help, makes you want to learn! Many quizes, but not very hard, just study the notes with the small details. Gives good study gides. Many extra credits. You can easily make an A if you study. rally fun class.
Tells good jokes. Really likes history and makes it clear what is going on. Be ready to take notes like your life depends on it, because your grade does. I thought the tests were pretty hard, but maybe thats just me.
I had this guy in Highschool , he one of the best teachers I have had in my life. Funny Guy, really smart, and cuts out the BS work. ( loves teaching so much, that he has a Ph.D and still teaches highschool kids, also reason why he teaches at night.)
The class was ok. He's a funny guy, very nice and friendly. He gives the worst notes though...you have to be able to write fast to keep up! The tests were ridiculous...the quizzes were what saved me. Prepare to take insane amounts of notes!
Interesting, knows a lot of little things here and there to add to the coursework. Bunches of chances to keep a good grade. Good lecturer. Likes kids, likes to teach.
Seriously, this is the guy you wanna take. Very funny and nice, looks and acts exactly like conan obrien. Loves to teach and does as much as he can to help your grade with extra credit, but it's an easy class anyways. Very fair and understanding too.
This is definitely the person to take if you don't mind having a night class. He makes the material interesting.
I had him in high school, he is one of my all time favorite teachers. He is funny, and interesting. I highly suggest him he is engaging and will make whatever he is teaching interesting.
He talks REALLY fast as if we knew everything. You have to write at least 6 pages of notes every class. He is not helpful since he doesn't reply emails. Easy C! Quizzes all weeks. DO NOT recommend to take this class!
If you don't mind night classes his is definitely the one to take. The class goes fast (lots of notes); however, if you pay attention an A is definitely possible. There is a daily quiz but it will only help your grade (they are very easy). He is very funny and makes class interesting.
he is funny, very entertaining!! you have quizzes every (night) class - they are easy though. be prepared to dedicate a significant amount of time for an A, it is not an "easy A." You need to take notes like crazy. Average class over all. He will remember 50 people's names in 1 class, seriously, I am not joking.
Wild Wild Wess is one of the coolest teachers in TCU. Every night class he says: Don't worry will be done by 12. Nice guy. Not an easy but also not a difficult A. For all the tests I studied the night before and I got A at the end of the class. Quizzes - very helpful. take good notes
One hell of a teacher. I would take him again if I could. Study for the quizzes and the tests will be easy. Very funny and keeps you focused on what he has to say. Easy A If you go to class and read the assignments.
Go to class because he offers lots of extra credit. study for the quizzes. he gives a good review sheet for the tests. he's an awesome guy so get to know him, he knows lots about history just be ready to take over 2 and a half hours of notes with one break
Not an easy A, but an easy B. Go to class. Quizes every night and takes attendance. Remembers faces and names, so he will notice if you are not there. Males the night class interesting and go by quickly. If you attend every class, 10 bonus points. If not interested in Histor, but must take it for UCR, and don't mind a night class, take him.
Pretty nice guy, if you talk to him he will basically do anything to help you. Tests are pretty hard and require you to memorize a bunch of stuff. Overall i would say he is an easy B and a somewhat challenging A. Definetely recommend taking him.
He is a pretty hilarious guy. Just take notes and study for the quizes very week and you will be fine. If I needed another history credit I would take his class again!
Take notes, read your reading assignments, you will pass. There are weekly quizzes that you won't pass if you don't study. Dr. Watters is always helpful and will repeat something if you ask him during lecture. He keeps things light and fun. I highly recommend.
Though I did make a D+, that was because I failed to attend class the first two weeks of school. He made EVERY attempt to help me excel! He is an excellent professor who gets to know you personally. He knows everyone's name and makes the class fun and entertaining. This is a must-take class for everyone...he's one of the good ones here at TCU.
He is an awesome teacher, and A MUST TAKE! I got an easy A, just take the quizes(study), he will help you, and the test are easy, as long as you study, and he is funny and caring!
he rocks
1877 to Present...Mr. Watters is an amazing and funny professor. He cares and tries his best to help out your grade. Quizes are from lecture, so are test, but a little book thrown in. It is an easy B, but A is not at all out of reach if you try. Make yourself known. Mr. Watters is my favorite teacher so far at TCU!
1877 to present: IMPOSSIBLE. I had to take this pass fail. Doesn't use the book. All from lectures. I am taking WAY harder classes....but somehow this is my worst grade. DO NOT TAKE if you want a blow off class
If you have a chance to take Dr. Watters it is well worth your time! He is the best professor I have EVER had. He is extremely helpful, and does not make you waste your time reading the book. Rather, he actually TEACHES. Go figure. He is funny and keeps your attention through the entire class. He is nice and is extremely helpful.BEST PROFESSOR EVER
Quizzes are based on lecture notes, gives you a review for your test, which you fill out based off your notes and some reading from the books. Kinda funny, and nice guy. Get extra credit for making every class
great teacher, really funny. makes class interesting. talks pretty fast, and tests are tricky, but well worth it
He lectured for a straight 2:15 hrs. We were given barely any text to look from that we actually used. I recorded each lecture and typed out my notes twice after every class, but still managed with a C. I am a nursing student and do know how to study for hard classes. His office hours were VERY limited as he is a high school teacher as well.
great guy. his class is long but he makes it very interesting. it's history so not the best stuff in the world. really nice guy. talk with him
Anyone who is saying that his class is "impossible" simply isn't trying. He's a great teacher, best history teacher I've ever had. He's funny and has some really cool stuff that he shares with the class. If you know how to take notes and study then you'll be fine. Definitely take him.
He's a great guy, provides a lot of extra credit opportunities. He's funny but his class can become a little dull. I took his night class, and a three hour lecture can be very...long. But it is easy if you study. I was never a history person and this class is probably my favorite this semester.
Really good teacher. I took him for a night class and even though it is 3 hours long, he keeps it interesting and is really funny. If you show up to every class you get 10 extra credit points which is huge. The material is not hard, just a lot of memorization. EASY B, tough A but definitely doable. I highly recommend taking him for US history
Watters is very helpful when you're having questions about tests. The class is not bad as long as you read what he tells you to and actually study. His tests are a combo of multiple choice and fill in the blank. Also, he tries to make the class interesting and you can tell that he genuinely loves what he's teaching.
My favorite professor this semester. I actually looked forward to this class. It is a lecture class though, so if you aren't the type of person who can sit and take notes for 2+ hours, then don't take this class. But he makes the time go by really fast and almost always lets us out early.
take his night class!!! i actually kinda looked forward to it. he is hilarious and a great lecturer, he makes history really interesting. weekly quizzes and the tests are pretty hard, but I passed/failed the class and didn't really study at all and still got a B-. night class usually doesn't take the whole time and he gives you a 15 min break
Extremely rude when you go to him for help. His lectures are boring and disorganized. He gives a quiz every class that you will not do will on unless you study.
doesn't use ecollege, never responds to emails when asking for grades even though he tells you to email him if you want to know. only two tests. doesn't use powerpoints, just talks with key vocab words on the board. not very organized. entertaining for a long night class but not a good teacher
His class is one of the more enjoyable classes I've had at TCU. Lectures are long (because it's a night class) and can be boring at times. Sit in the front, focus on the lecture and write down what he says. He doesn't go to fast and will repeat a point if you ask. He also provides you with a good review sheet and what to expect on the test.
Only taking this class once a week on Monday nights. Quizzes before every lecture. Lectures are long but he teaches in a story-like descriptive way so it makes it easier to understand. The textbook is confusing. If you miss even a few minutes of what he says or a class, it's really hard to know what's going on. Nice guy though, and helpful.
The class is easy if you show up and take notes. Wes Watters is very passionate about the class and throws a bunch of interesting stories and funny facts about the information he is lecturing about. Class is usually cut short and goes by quickly while he is teaching.
SUPER RUDE. Don't even bother going to him for help! He doesn't use ECollege and there is no official way to know what your grade is. Only 2 tests and a final. Lots of information to grasps for just one night class. I would not take again and I do not recommend taking this unorganized, pompous teacher. Oh and don't waste your money buying the book
Take notes every class and show up to every class. If you show up to every class he will give you 10 EC points. Go to office hours if you have any questions regarding the material. He will let you look over your tests in office hours, which helps before the final, and provide what you needed to include in your short answer to get full points
Wes Watters is a really funny prof. I took a night class which was probably a mistake because it's hard to sit through 3 hours of lectured history, but I'm glad I did because he is a great teacher and class was easy. He gives tons of extra credit that improved my grade by a letter. Quizzes every class, so reread your notes before to get good grades
I am an intelligent student, but this class was SOOOOO hard. I struggled through it. You have to pay attention to the lectures and literally write down every word that comes out of his mouth in order to well on the exams. His quizzes are hard and everyhting about this class is just hard. I had to pass fail it and it was hard to even pass that
He is a great professor, his lectures are HILARIOUS and really makes history interesting. The class is long, but he gives you a break in the middle and frequently lets class out 20-30min early. Be prepared to take notes - LOTS of notes. There are 3 exams and quizzes every week but are easy if you take good notes.
Love my man, Wes!
He does not lecture the first week so it was too late to drop when I realized how awful this class is. Does not use PowerPoints or TCU online. He lectures the ENTIRE time and moves ridiculously fast. You will be studying 100+ terms per exam (3). 50 MC, 15 FIB w/o word bank, and 7 short answer. Quiz every week. Tries to trick you on MC. I P/NCed it!
Long, boring lectures. Doesn't use powerpoint, instead one of those image projectors he puts papers under. you take notes on what he says the entire class and that is what is on the exams. very funny, nice guy but the material is very difficult and the tests are too. I would take him if he taught a different class, but not this one. dr watters a g
Gives the entire lecture without a powerpoint & it's pretty boring & incredibly hard, but he's funny
Dr. Watters is an absolute animal. His lectures are great. Awesome semester.
Dr. Watters is a genuinely caring individual. If you show up and take notes then you should be fine. The tests are rather long and he does have pop quizzes every class but he is funny and very thorough when it comes to his notes. He doesn't use TCU online, but regardless is accessible when you need him.
He uses a projector of notes that aren't very helpful or descriptive. These notes turn into weekly quizzes that are very hard. The tests are also extremely long and difficult. Nice man, but a bad teacher. He knows what he is talking about but just doesn't explain anything well and does everything way too quickly. I'm a good student too.
He tells you to buy all these textbooks that you don't use. He also uses a projector to project words which are considered notes even though they have no detail. I do not recommend. I am pass/failing the course.
heres my story. so i was chilling in class during after my test and then someone texted me something so i laughed. And then he got mad at me. Ig the expectation is to cry in class. Man whoever said learning is fun lied. This is horse bs. I also recieved an unforrtunate grade on my quiz which i recieved no feedback for
Great guy
Professor Watters teaches in a lecture format and is very old school when it comes to technology. All of the material on the exams comes from his lectures, so be sure not to miss class as he doesn't post them. There are 3 exams, along with quizzes for every non-exam class so it is imperative to pay attention. Overall he is a nice and caring person.
Watters is honestly my favorite professor. I was sick the first month of class an the gave me so much time and grace to make it up. He is funny but old school. Nothing is online and everything on paper. Honestly he is awesome and I love his lectures! He even includes fun facts about history like scandals of presidents.
Dr. Watters is a great guy, gives extra credit, but he's old school and doesn't post anything online. Everything is done by paper and handed in at the beginning of class. For lectures, he projects words on a screen and lectures on the words. There are quizzes every class on the previous lecture & 3 exams the whole semester. I had to study ALOT.
This was my favorite class and professor this semester. The lectures were very interesting and did not just contain all the usual/basic things we learned in US History in high school. EVERYTHING is done on paper in class. There are many quizzes, but he always gave us notice. There is some extra credit. He is willing to work with students a lot.
Professor Watters' class was very hard to succeed in. He "lectures" by putting a few words on the screen. He then tests you on these "notes" the next class. Quiz or test every class. I am a great student and am hardly passing. The class will be on pass/no credit. He is extremely old school and nothing, including grades are posted on D2L. Don't take
really try not taking him!!!! his class is all tests and quizzes and they suck so much. it is awful and boring
Dr. Watters was a great professor but as a side note, I am biased because I love U.S. history in the first place. He provides his great knowledge of the subject along with funny jokes to keep you engaged. But, t is crucial that you pay attention and study well for all quizzes and tests to do good in class. I would take another class with him.
I took this class for a core credit- wish I wouldve taken another. Class consists of weekly quizzes on paper, 6 question sets (questions about topics you havent covered), and 2 tests on paper. Watters is super nice and approachable and does try to help his many failing students. A lot of easier core classes than this. Do not recommend.
Very old school style of teaching; I did not use D2L a single time in the class. However, as long as you attend the lectures and take decent notes, you should have no problem getting a B at the very worst. Dr. Watters is a very caring and knowledgeable professor who interacts with his students. Would definitely recommend.
This was my second time taking a class with Dr. Watters. This class was harder than the first one I took but I still really enjoyed it. The class is mostly lectures but they are very entertaining. There aren't many grades (there are a few quizzes, a case study, and the final). This class does require a good amount of studying.
Watters in this class senior level course or not doesn't matter, he does not help you at all, he sets you up to fail he gives you an obscene amount of information to study and never helps you review for anything, doesn't help you prepare for anything. Legitimately give you absolutely no help at all even if you reach out to him and seek his help
Professor Watters is a great teacher, just make sure to actually do your readings and be prepared for the quizzes. You'll have to spend a decent amount of time studying for the test as well. Make sure you take good notes as well, they make up a lot of the information.
Do yourself a favor and don't take this class unless you HAVE to. It is so hard and you are tested on about 25 supreme court cases each quiz. So much memorizing and he isn't very good at explaining. It is a senior level class offered as a CORE but DONT take it! His lectures don't help and you will be learning everything yourself. This class aint it
Watters is a stand up guy who wants the best for his students. The night class can be long with a lot of notes that all gather up on the test, but it is doable with studying and rereading notes. He will help whenever you need it and wants the best for his students.
Lectures don't go in depth enough and slides offer minimal information, ensuring student understanding is a the bare minimum and that students are really left to teach themselves. It's a poor reflection of his ability to teach and all around disappointing since he clearly knows the content and seems like a nice person. Sadly wouldn't recommend.
OMG i love Dr Watters! He is the most caring professor I have had at TCU. His tests are pretty tricky but if you study and put in effort you will be just fine. He loves questions and answers emails super fast too. Weekly quizzes but not bad if you pay attention in class
Pros: - WW is funny and lectures are entertaining Cons: - his notes are a scrambled mess they lack the info you'll need for the exam - good luck finding the notes (doesn't use D2L) - 3 exams for each you memorize 30+ cases and specifics about them - rarely releases any study guide, you're on your own - Exams only on paper - Time constaint
History is my favorite, so I am really upset about this class. He is a very nice and caring guy but notes are horrible and messy. Does NOT go in depth with lecture - leaves us hanging to teach ourselves. Material we "learned" was not on tests.Everyone in my class is struggling.Class average is a 70 right now. only take if you can teach yourself.
Lecture heavy but his notes are very confusing, hard to follow, and messy. Quiz every week some are easier than others but overall difficult. Exams were very difficult and very detailed. Grades hard for short answers. Gives extra for not missing class. Puts nothing on D2L. 3 homework assignments over the semester. Kinda have to teach yourself
Let me preface by saying, I like Dr. Watters as a person. The notes he gives in class are the worst I have ever experienced in my time as a student. You will be teaching yourself this class and you better know everything down to the time stamp. There are better and easier history classes to take. Again I like Watters I just cant recommend his class
Wes is the man. If you are interested in history he is really knowledgable and you will like this class. Quizes every week sucks and tests can be hard. This class is not easy but at the end of the day if Wes likes you he will take care of you.
I took this course and it was relatively easy. He does go through notes pretty fast and doesn't have an exact powerpoint to follow, so you have to take notes as he goes. He gives a quiz every Wednesday, but if you go to class and pay attention, the quizzes are pretty easy. He gives many opportunities for extra credit, so take advantage of that.
Wes Watters is a great professor who cares about what he teaches. He made it very interesting. If you dont miss a class you get 10 points added to your final. He helps a lot throughout the semester by adding bonus questions and he drops your lowest quiz score. It is a difficult class that requires a lot of studying but it is maintainable.
Watters is super funny and a really chill professor. He is super easy to talk to and really wants to help in and outside of class. The course content isn't difficult there is just a lot of it. I would say the tests are difficult but if you actually study there is no way you get below a B. You can get over 100 on his quizzes. Highly recommend.
He is a great guy but hardest class I have ever taken. Unless you have photographic memory, have hours (and I mean 10+) to study, and are great at tests or quizzes, I would not take his class. Wish it was easier to pass because could have been more enjoyable. Truly awful.
Such a nice professor and really funny. Lectures are pretty interesting but you have to go to class because he does not post the notes, or anything on D2L. Everything is paper and handed out in class. Weekly quizzes and I believe 3 exams throughout the year. Gives a lot of extra credit on quizzes. Love this professor as a person, but hardish class
One of the best classes I've ever taken. If you go to class, take notes, and study your notes, you'll make an A in this class. 11 quizzes (drop 1) with extra credit on each. 2 homework assignments that are easy. 2 exams, the higher grade counts twice. Final WASN'T comprehensive. Attendance is extra credit. Prof Watters is a personable and nice guy.
If you're a lambda you'll be good.
Professor Watters makes his class engaging and enjoyable. Frequent quizzes effectively prepare students for the challenging tests, which he outlines clearly. Success requires paying attention, as the material is demanding, but missing a class or two won't significantly impact your grade if you stay on top of the content.
He's pretty lecture heavy, but it's interesting topics and he doesn't just read off the slides. A lot of the lectures are what he says in class and not so much what's on the board. There's quizzes every week which are really helpful because it keeps you studying. But overall he's really funny, cares about his students, and is a good professor
I like Dr. Watters and he made his lectures pretty interesting. Exams are kind of difficult and they are spaced out between two days. Attendance is mandatory and he gives 10 extra points for those with perfect attendance. Gives weekly quizzes but they are relatively easy if you study.
Dr. Watters is super kind and really cares about his students. I never dreaded going to his class. I found the weekly quizzes to be manageable if you study the day before but the exams are difficult. The two exams are heavily weighted so even though I did good on all the quizzes the exams weighed my grade down. He gives extra points for attendance.
Watters is genuinely the sweetest guy. You have a quiz every week based on soley what comes out of his mouth, he doesn't provide notes and his lectures are all over the place. You have 3 exams that are 75% written. Pay attention, engage, and study your butt off and he will help you. He really is hilarious and nice when you get to know him.
Watters is the best! I find his class clear and engaging. Unlike other history professors, Watters doesn't play tricks. He truly cares about his students and wants them to learn and thrive in the class. I love the way class is structured with weekly quizzes, it keeps me studying. Study hard and you'll be fine:) Also he is so funny!!!
Great professor! Inspired me to learn more about America's history and become more involved in world events and politics
Literally my favorite class ever, I wish i could re take it over and over again. Study, pay attention, and respect him and you will do good.
He was such a funny professor and class never felt as long as it actually was. Class was unorganized at times, but his quizzes always had extra credit on them so that was a major plus. The few assignments he had were an easy grade boost, overall would take again.
