Prof. Avery is not only a good teacher he is also a very interesting person. He tests from the book not from his lectures and he is a very fair grader. His class lectures are very interesting and often quite funny. It is worth it to go to class just to hear about his life experiences.

Very professional. I was very impressed with what he taught. He has a large knowlege base of real estate and how things actually happen in the "real" world. One benefit is that you could show up three times to class not including the first day: Once for mid-term, project and final because the teachng is exactly on the book. No slides though.

No Homework. 3 tests. 1 final. No papers. extra credit options. (if you type reviews on RMP. com please put this info it is very helpful.) All exams are online. 50 Questions each exam and you take them when you want to. The professor is very smart and seems very wealthy. Lectures on life more than real estate. funny and witty. fairly easy.

the textbook comes in handy, but he provides notes for the lecture which is enough, you also earn points for attending class. the exams aren't very difficult since it is everything discussed in class and info can be easily found on the powerpoints. great professor he makes the lectures and subject very interesting and understandable

Wesley Avery was the first professor who really inspired me. He's exceptionally qualified (Harvard Business School, UCLA Law, very successful bankruptcy lawyer) and he lectures about the real world as much as the class material. He is very worldly, and very interesting to listen to. Class isn't very tough, which allows you to enjoy his lectures.

He skips the fairy tale that schools offers and takes you to the real world to see what kind of actual financial crisis are occurring in our area. Very inspirational and is one of the best professors to have ever stepped foot on this world. Does it for the love and the passion.

3 test, 1 final, participation points using clicker (answer two questions every class meeting) all worth 20% of your grade. All exams are 50Q online but are timed at 55 min. The class average was 60% I believe due to the time restriction. He thinks it is enough time, but he curves generously. The 60% was curved up to a "B" grade.

Professor Wesley's grading method is a puzzle itself, you would not know what you have in class throughout the semester because he curves the final grade. Those who earn C can get an A just because they ask some irrelevant questions and by that he assumes that they are participating. The class itself is boring. Everything is online. Will not learn.

There are 3 tests + final in this class. All online/open book. He gives you 50-60 minutes to do 50 problems. You cant bounce around/go out of order. On the days the tests were due there were no class. 7/16 no class. Talks a lot about himself. Glad Im not a finance major/feel sorry for those who are. Majority of people cheated while few were honest

I did not learn anything in this class and struggled with the tests because of this. I asked some classmates how they were getting such good scores and they said they used Chegg. As for the few honest classmates, they were told that there may be a curve (because people do so bad) so stay in the class. I wish I took another professor.

This professor was awful. Who knows how he grades. 3 exams and the final. He just reads his powerpoint slides, only reason to attend class was to get points for his clicker questions other than that it 's a waste of time sitting in class. His exams are online and most answers are online and he curves but useless if everyone is cheating.

Hard class to teach, lecture and reading only. No homework, but be prepared, do the reading, and participate! 4 tests are timed because of excessive cheating, but he curves at end. He tries to inspire students and brings his real world experience into class lecture. Class would be better with more connection to real world examples.

Avery is great for students who WANT to learn more about finance, ask questions, and participate in class. He may seem unsympathetic at times which can be uncomfortable but you have to let it slide because he does really know his stuff. Clicker quizzes, participation, and attendance are part of the grade.

This guy LOVES to talk about himself. tests are extremely hard and not studied in class. final test was 60% on 2 books related to real estate and grapes of wrath. Silly questions such as, "what was the name of the girl sitting in the shed in grapes of wrath?". How is this related to finance? and again, he's obsessed about talking about himself.

He goes through lecture very quickly, barely explaining how to do certain calculations, which cost me on his midterms. Terms were easy to study by myself, as the slides are accessible. Brought in speakers every once in a while which was insightful. Midterms and final are timed to where you have only about a minute to answer each question.

15% of your grade has to do with in class clicker questions and this dude was so pretentious I just didn't go. Doesn't really teach anything but gloats about himself the entire class. Will constantly flex his 5 million dollar house on you. All the tests are open book but final has little to do with the class. Would avoid if possible, out of touch.

Only redeeming quality about this class was every test is online and you can easily find the answers. I gave up the clicker question part of my grade and didn't go to class because i just couldn't really take this guys lecture style. Always just talks about himself and puts down younger generations. doesnt teach you anything in class.

This professor was pretty clear on what he expected. It was a hybrid class, so class once a week, but for the midterm and the week of the final, the exams were online, and we wouldn't meet that week. There was no clear attendance grade, but he would take polls in each class as a form of taking attendance. All assignments were online.

I had him for FIN 355. He is a very nice and chill professor. All of the exams are open-book and online. No homework, instead you do clickers during class so make sure you attend his classes. He does take attendance and doesn't mark you late. Beware that some questions on the exams are very bizarre, and the answers can be found in the textbook.
