Start making mutiple-choice tests !!

Really nice guy. His tests aren't hard either, if you actually read the book. The Bronx Zoo field trip was a lot of fun, too. It was much more engaging to take notes on the exhibits then to just look at the animals sitting there. Says he doesn't curve, but he usually doesn't count a few questions on each exam.

ok so yes he is a hard teacher. his tests are hard and he does expect you to know alot of info, but he's a good teacher and a nice guy. he will try to help you if you ask! He expects the students at NCC to act like any other college student and do the work! if you take his course you'll actually learn something!!! take it. it's worth it! trust me!!

Professor DOody is probably the only professor at NCC that doesnt treat you like a community college student. He expects you to know the material..not too much to ask right? If youre serious about Biology, take him. If you just want an easy A and learn nothing at all, its your call.

I love this professor! Out of 30 students only 7 made it to the end and out of the 7, 5 passed. This is only because no one bothered to do the work. He is a great professor and an all around cool guy. Seriously though if you plan to go into a professional science field and you have a problem passing his class.. u should just quit while your ahead.

The class I took w/ Prof Doody was a BIOLOGY MAJOR's intro course. Thus, the lectures were structured in a way to prepare a bio major for upper level courses and graduate studies in the field of bio-if this is what you want, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this prof. He prepares you for the rigors of scientific study through a CHALLENGING but fair curriculum.

Really friendly, nice professor. Study notes + do consistent work and you will be fine. Gives 10 extra credit questions on each test!

Don't expect a cakewalk with Dr. Doody. Extremely funny and helpful but expects you to work hard for your grade. Tests are difficult and are in an uncommon format but every test has extra questions/points which help tremendously. Study, ask questions and take it seriously. The reviews here made me apprehensive but now he's one of my favorite profs.

This professor is very hard, if you're looking for an easy A don't take his class. but then again this is college so you can't go in this class expecting to get an easy A. He really prepares you more than any other professor will. He simply gives a power point every class until the tests which usually consist of 5-8 chapters.Awesome professor.

No other professor will prepare you better for a career in sciences or medicine than this professor. He is tough but you should expect that when in college. If you can do well in his class than you should be just fine going forward. Make sure you completely understand concepts that are taught and not just memorize definitions.

Discipline is definitely required. Read the material before hand. Things to look out for the class I took (BIO 102) 1. A zoo assignment (Do this early!) 2.Lab midterm and final (identify speciments under microscope) 3)4 exams (mostly identifications,jeopardy and some multiple choice) 4)Lab Quizzes. He's hard, but fair. Don't take the class if you're not willing to put in the time to study and prepare for midterms and tests (they aren't cummulative). Zoo trip is probably the most annoying part of the class. He'll help you out if you put in the time!

i like him a lot . he prepares you for medical school if you ask me . just study and pay attention . how hard is that ?

Very specificabout the way he wants the lab cleaned, but very reasonable and always willing to help. Tests were very fair

He is a really good professor is you are a hard working student unless you dont want to work hard you should take his class.. be prepared participate..you will succeed and he will help you to get through it.

i think he is a good prof. people are just so lazy. bio 109 is a tough subject to begin with and why find the easy way out? he will better prepare you for med school than any other prof . just study and pay attention.

Professor Doody is a great teacher but he isn't going to hold your hand through the course. These people complaining simply haven't applied the time need to do well in this type of class. If you take Doody bring your A game, no pun intended.

Come on now!! Professor Doody is hard but not impossible... i took him twice and i had to withdraw both times, i dont blame it on him though it was my fault, I had too much going on in my life to focus on this bio class.... so here's my avice if u trying to go to med school take him... trust me all u have to do is to ALWAYS make sure u understand everything when in class and study study as much as possible... getting a A from him will give u a sense of accomplishment u've never felt before, believe me!!!!!

I think the reviews of him so far have been unfair. His tests and assignments are only difficult if you don't prepare yourself, he wants you to succeed but he's not get to hand you a good grade. He respects his students and doesn't give anybody a hard time if they want to drop the course.

Doody is such a nice guy and he's a good professor. He will not make it easy for you but it is not impossible to do good either. You have study hard and make sure you understand concepts. This shouldn't be a suprise to anybody, this is college. He always crack jokes and if you need help, he's there for you. I would def take him again!

I can't believe how horrible people make Prof. Doody seem. He's great! He just doesn't hold your hand throughout the course like 90% of the profs at NCC do. If you want to pass the exams, you must THOROUGHLY study the content on your own. But if you're struggling with the material, TELL HIM! He's a good guy and he will genuinely try to help you.

Professor D was one of the best biology professors I've had. Lots of the comments here make him seem like a horrible professor but he's great. HIs sarcasm is very refreshing throughout the lectures. His tests are fair. Pay attention to his lectures and slides and you'll be set.

It's a challenge I enjoyed. He won't baby you so if you're looking for that, look elsewhere. I thought he was a refreshing change and I like his teaching style. He's clear and to the point. Great professor.

Prof. D is a TOUGH but GREAT prof. Test are elaborate don't get me wrong but if (efficiently)study 3-4 hours for every hour in class, you'll do just fine. Also I highly recommend investing in a good sense of humor for this class.

Prof D. is a great teacher with a VERY dry sense of humor. That being said he does not respond well to students that don't study the material thoroughly before lectures or review sessions. He does run lab and lecture as separate classes so prepare for 6 tests between the two. If you want to go to med school, take him.

He is a tough teacher. That being said he will not be holding your hand throughout the course. Like everyone on here said, you do have to work for your grade. He is a great teacher that makes you actually learn and understand the subject if you are willing. You just have to study more than usual.

He makes you work for a good grade, but its all worth it in the end. He makes sure you know the information, which is important since I took a majors class. He gives a few at-home assignments, which help boost your grade, and he does his best to make sure you do well. WRITE ALL THE ESSAYS HE GIVES!!! It will go a long way.

Not as bad as people say he is. Those that did werent willing to work hard. One shouldnt expect a curve. His exams forces you to understand the material. I only recommend him to those students who are WILLING to put in the work . STUDY and youll do fine. Use Textbook for reference. Study slides and pay attention. Exams are tough but fair.

Course curriculum is information intensive. Professor Doody's expansive knowledge of the subject matter equals his obvious love of what he teaches. He pushes you and entertains you while teaching. Students are required to do the work and it is rewarding. If it were possible, I'd take every Bio course he teaches! The professor earns respect!

hes not as bad as the reviews say! Hes just a typical professor who makes you work for your grade. I think people expect to be spoon fed all the material without putting all the work thats why theyre surprised when they get professor D. Study the slides and the text. Be ready for an essay on the lecture & lab papers. If you study you will pass!
