Dr. Hickeys online lectures brought a since of relevance and real world application to what was being addressed. The book by Todd Whitaker was an excellent compliment to the course. The book reinforced Dr. Hickeys main points. The modules were well thought out and built on one another for a better understanding of the principles of leadership.

Dr. Hickey is a great teacher, his video lectures were to the point and cover exactly what is necessary for the class. The textbook is an easy and practical read, the chapters are short! I like the way the course was laid on Canvas. There was no question what was due or when it was due.

The class was very easy to follow. I liked the lay-out on Canvas. I would prefer that when you finish one module, you are allowed to work ahead to the next module so that the course better fits into your schedule. There are times that I would be able to work ahead, but needed to wait until the next module was opened.

This was my first time to take an online class, and Professor Hickey did a wonderful job of handling things when students were unsure about how to get started. He has been very helpful and encouraging in getting me started on this path.

I was very hesitant about taking or starting an online program. I have started a different program and I hated it, I need it to grow. Professor Hickey was clear about expectations of the class. Modules were well organized and informative. Using the online calendar tool would help with organization. Most quizzes were recall from text or videos. A few were subjective and made it hard to know what he was asking for. Overall I gained a lot from this introduction to administration.

He is a very straightforward teacher which I like. His video lectures were very good and overall I enjoyed the class.

Dr. Hickey does an excellent job of breaking up lectures which is especially important for a self-paced online course. Modules are broken into clear and manageable sections. There is a good blend of quizzes, simulations, and discussions. The course is conducted with the end in mind as demonstrated in his attention to TExES patterns.

I really loved Professor Hickey's class. I never felt like any assignments were unnecessary. I actually took something away from from every lecture, learned from the textbook he assigned, and I felt like he really cared about whether or not we succeeded.

I really enjoyed this class as I felt like the lectures were interesting and applied to what I was doing in my own experience. I always understood the directions to my assignments and I felt I was never set up for failure. If you participate, take notes, and apply your experiences to the videos you will get good grades.

Dr. Hickey's class was very good. I felt like I can actually use most of the things we discussed in my current job (non-principal). His lectures were great, and have lots of good information. His quizzes were challenging as well, and they will keep you on your toes. Dr. Hickey is easy to reach and responds pretty quickly and gives good feedback.

Lectures were very practical and Professor Hickey was very real about his experiences and the expectations of the "job". Although he is very experienced and has held very distinguished positions in education, his lectures were on our level. He is easy to understand and his assignments are directly related to his lectures and reading assignments.

I learned a lot of practical things concerning educational leadership from Dr. Hickey. I enjoyed the book selection for this course. I will use it as a resource in days ahead. His expectations were high but not unrealistic. The assignments were relevant and useful. I enjoyed his humor, honesty and experiences as a leader in various situations.

Final hasn't opened yet but his class has been very straight forward. If you read the material carefully and pay attention to the video lectures you are well equipped to be successful. I appreciate the fact that the video lectures are to the point and enjoyed the extra videos he posted.

Professor Hickey's Educational Leadership class reminded me that even though in education, we sometimes get bogged down by the tedious aspects of the profession, to always be a champion for kids.

Professor is really organized in his modules. You never have a doubt on what to expect from each module. The whole textbook is used, but every chapter is helpful in guiding you to be a good leader. He is a great professor.

This class was great. Very insightful and the instructor gives good, specific feedback. There was a good deal of reading but it was necessary and spread out about the course. I loved the videos and the fact that Mr. Hickey gets straight to the point in his topic specific videos. The assignments are very specific to the program.

Probably one of the best professors I've had in my college experience. He is extremely intentional in his teaching and despite having a ton of students he knows each of us by name. He shakes each of our hands every class and values our thoughts. Honestly sad to finish this class.

He is a very passionate professor. He treats everyone with respects and actually acts like he wants to be in the class he's teaching. He shakes our hands, tries to get to know us, listens to our question. Tells us about his previous experiences as a teacher, principal, director of education, etc. It's a great class and he's a great teacher.

Mr. Hickey was very nice, and I enjoyed his class even though it was at 8am. I would recommend him to anyone. We had very little work and what we did was easy. In class we did a lot of group activities, so it was fun. 10/10.

I really enjoyed his class. He greeted his students every time they came into class. It was well balanced between assignments and quizzes. Activities were interactive. Tests were over what he taught and they were not worded to trick you like other professors. I would highly recommend his class!

Such a good teacher. I respected him so much over the semester that i always felt terrible when i nodded off in my 8 am. he was never boring i just work 30 hr a week and when i told him that he was very understanding and always gave ways to make up assignments. He tried to learn everyone name.

Hes a very interactive and alert professor. I enjoyed that he walks around the classroom, and he feels welcoming and caring. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to his class every day. I also like the fact that he helps you get over your fear of public speaking in a gentle way. I definitely recommend you take his class.

Dr. Hickey starts off every class by shaking your hand. He makes you feel important, and you can tell that your success in his course truly matters to him. His lectures are great and he has a lot of good advice and experiences to share about his time as a teacher, principal, and superintendent.

By far my favorite professor I have had at UT Tyler! In a class of 50+ students, he managed to learn my name by the first day of class. Every day, without fail, he shakes every person's hand just to greet them. He makes his students want to be there by showing respect. His class has pushed me out of my comfort zone and I would gladly it take again!

Professor Hickey is such a good teacher! This is my third year of college and he is definitely in my top five of best professors I've ever had. He makes the material interesting and is very down to earth. I would defintely recommend taking him if you can.

I dont really know how he grades but if u attend to class its a plus because he has quizzes which he goes over on lecture . He has extra credit as well its a lot of group activity he just wants the students to be open to communicate with one another

This class was super easy with very few assignments. Even though it is an 8am class, his lectures are always entertaining and engaging because he knows so much about what he teaches. I would 100% recommend taking him. I will miss his class!

Dr. Hickey is the best professor I have ever had! I really enjoyed his class! I definitely would recommend taking this class. You will have to do 12 hours of field observations to get credit for this class but he gives you plenty of time to get them done. He recommends the reading, however we never actually used the book.

He was very understanding about life situations, he made the work group/discussion amongst peers organized. Would definitely take this teacher again if he taught another course I needed to take.
