horrible teacher! took online but I heard he was bad in class too. If he doesnt like what you write he makes you re-write it and if you dont then he will tell you he will give you a F in the class!

DO NOT take this teacher!! He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is rude, unsympethetic, and lacks teaching ability. I took his online class. His research paper is a JOKE I received an A in Eng. 101 A, B, and D and he gave me a D on my research paper. If he wants to be that anal he's teaching the wrong subject. Get a grip teach!!!

Not a good teacher at all. Has lots of dicussions minimum of 16 for every 2 chapters. Quizzes are fairly easy if you take lots of skills checks and save. He acts more like an English teacher than history, very picky over research paper actually too picky. Do not take if there are other teachers trust me they can't be as bad as him.

Horrible Teacher...Took a test and would have aced it with any other teacher but recieved a nice D! Dont take him, Hes not nice!!!

Do not take his Internet class. It is not very clear. He gives you things to look up each week and it is baput 40 things and then there is a test. You need to know all the items for that week and there is not much material. He is not very helpful when you ask him questions, Take this class on campus if you do not like reading a whole lot.

WORST INSTRUCTOR I've had - 1st drop with W. Online class is insane. Delta is not an easy ride. I have had to work hard and the teachers have been fair. This guy is off the chart. I would expect this class to be required for someone who is majoring in history. For an entry level gen ed course he expects way too much. DON'T TAKE HIM!

This teacher is not clear in the syllabus. He says that you can choose a topic for your paper, however the ones I picked were too broad then too narrow, finally he asigned my topic Native americans said that I should have written on states rights. He was not clear. plus MUST do 5000 word essay to pass class. This teacher I will not take again.

He is a total control freak! He truly should be teaching Philosophy or Critical thinking, because that is more of what he lectures on rather than actual historical facts. He is confusing and if you are taking any other classes, forget it. His reading and assignment load is very overwhelming. if you can take someone else, DO SO!

Im a history major. This class had nothing to do with California History. His papers were a joke. He was a tad bit insane if you ask me. He nearly flipped his lid when some kids phone went off. Its 2009 it happens. Get over it dude. Too many BORING worse than PBS videos. Stupid questions online. Not even worth your time to take this class.

AVOID!! I have taken his 17A class 3 times, each time receiving a 'D'. I have NEVER received less than a B in any class ever except for his! He has you write a thesis statement, then he recants yours and provides his own. I received an F on my paper!! I took the class at another school, I earned a 97% in the class!! AVOID AND REPORT HIM!!!

This professor has no compassion for the students. He is truly not a student advocate. I had to have surgery at Stanford due to oral cancer and he had no sympathy at all. My wife tride to keep him informed, but he could care less. If I would have known before, I would never have never taken him.

Horrible, good luck trying to get him to email you or respond or even elaborate on how anything works, does not work with students, it's his way or a F but he doesn't even bother telling you what his way is

This teacher is incompetent. He doesn't know anything about papers or history. I would suggest never taking the class over taking it with him. I got a B so I'm not complaining about difficulty. If you're a good student you'll realize he's just ridiculous. The class has huge potential, but the teacher has maxed out.

Took him spring 11' online and thought it would be okay. I took many online classes and passed. But not this class he expects too much out of the assignments. No life if you take his class! I never failed a class and I regret taking this class!

Grades super hard, way too much work.Control freak. Assigned me a thesis for a paper we had to write after making us do an assignment where we had to write a thesisI guess he assumes you only have one class and no life. I work full time and go to school full time so I had to manage my time wisely. I would consider not taking this guy

Although I got an A out of the class it was very time consuming and lots of work, this professor is very unclear on what he wants from the reasearch paper, changes you thesis to something that you have to decode to even understand. Hes rude and condescending when responding to you. Would not recommend him and glad I finished his class.

First let me start by saying AVOID IF POSSIBLE. Grades extremely tough, has aides grade work and have had to re-do assignments due to their messing up the papers. Little direction, and mandatory thesis topics which are copied from the internet. Learned very little, and completely dissatisfied with the course. Will not take another class from him.

AVOID THIS CLASS!! The reading assignments given are EXTREMELY ridiculous in length! I aced all of my tests and still failed the class because of a few missed discussions and a ridiculous grade on my research paper which he didn't really seem to read judging by feedback he gave. Most frustrating class I've ever taken, and I usually love history!

horrible online teacher. Is not clear when it comes to his 1500 word essay, his quizzes are ridiculous, you find the answer in the book, and it gets marked wrong on the quiz. Tough grader, would never take his class again.

His is not clear at all about what he expects from the 1500 word essay and gives you a horrible grade on anything because he has ridiculous expectations. If you don't say exactly what he would say, you will not get a fair grade. Would not recommend if you want to pass 17A.

He is the hardest teacher ever, tests/quizzes are tough and timed, 1500 word paper doesn't give feedback till after the due date, can't make corrections to improve score. all students say they were failing. After you leave a comment he adds to what you write and wants you to write about something else on top of that. Avoid this teacher.

Mr. Swanson is unclear about what he expects in his 1500 word essay. Sent an email to have it reviewed, did not acknowledge. Submitted grades, closed the class. Gave writing assignments but only for 5 and 10 points. Grades too hard!

I took history 17B with him and i put my best to class still got poor grade. If anyone wants repeat the class over than take it . If there is no option please take with someone who can understand the students problem. This teacher is very tough grader, his quizzes will not help in the final grade, midterm, final are hard with less time.

please don't take it even if you have no option, because he does not care what students do, exams are hard with less time, research paper is hard. He does not care how hard students works for in order to pass. over all don't take it if it is him.

Difficult class because Swanson asks many questions on the exams that are based on your interpretation of the material, and not actual historical fact. He quotes the text's author way to much in the exam questions. I get that he's making sure you read, but most of the time it's irrelevant to historic fact, so doesn't test your actual knowledge.

The way he teaches is absolutely awful. You will have over 100 questions to answer every two chapters per section with two essay questions and a test for those two chapters. For the midterm it's nearly one minute per question. He is unreasonable and expects far too much from the students. I would have never taken his class if I had known.

I took this online class and wow was it one of the hardest online classes I have ever taken. This teacher grades really hard, I feel like it was impossible for me to get full points on anything. After having all straight A's, this is my very first low grade class. Do NOT take this course with other difficult courses. This teacher will make you work

For someone who loves history and is an A student, I struggled with this class. He is unreachable and unreliable. I took the hybrid class and no matter how hard I tried on the discussions he would never give me higher than a 6. His online quizzes and tests are extremely specific, you have to know the book like the back of your hand. Don't take it.

I had the HARDEST time with this professor and being a first year college student and trying to find good teachers and good classes to take to get out of the way this was not one of them. Very hard at grading ( he wants it all his way ) but he does give you 5 times to retake the chapter quizzes which is kind of good if you don't test well.

I give teachers benefit of doubt. Well into 1/2 way through the semester he is still super disorganized. Oh btw this is his retirement job. He has a degree in sociology but knows nothing about teaching a class. Loves assigning lots of work. Pretty derogatory towards the students. He should not teach. Loves showing video in a regular basis. Big no.

Terrible. Really strict grading. Discussion done every 2 weeks along with a response to another classmate. Grades harshly, does not matter how hard you work on the assignment. Will mark you down and not state any reason at all. Even if you've done everything he's asked for in the prompt. Let's you retake tests but questions are extremely specific.

He is literally THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. He doesnt clarify ANY of his assignments. Lectures? He doesnt even know the concept of them. Dont bother asking him anything. He's arrogant and will constantly shoot your questions down. The students are basically teaching themselves the course! The book he uses is so confusing as well!!

No matter how hard I worked on the assignments I always got low scores and he doesn't explain why.

He criticises you on your work and makes you feel like crap. He doesn't even teach you. He makes you read and learn in your own and has the nerve to grade hard

Hardest online class I've ever taken in my entire life. The midterm was extremely difficult. Contains a LOT of reading and it was impossible to pass unless this was the only thing you do all day. You're assign up to 1,000 questions by midterm but only 50 questions were on test. He makes the answer very difficult to find in the book and online.

Worst prof ever! Talks down to you if you don't agree with him and is a tough grader! Never again!

Never failed a class until taking his. Terrible teacher, makes learning the material hard because he doesnt write the modules to a better understanding. Grades hard and who the hell makes a 100 questions final. His mother should have swallowed him.

Worst teacher I have ever encountered. Get ready to break your back for nothing to show for it. Teacher is rude and acts as thought he thinks he is infallible. Also is unfair, and goes only by the book. You could have concrete proof of something and he would still say you were wrong. If you want to be driven to quit school then take him.

he needs to be a little more compassionate. As an all A student I was kinda upset that I got a 66 on a paper when his reader gave me a 96. Saying I misunderstood the information from the text, however, he ONLY allowed our essay to be based on our textbook. He also was unprofessional in how he corrected information and gave attitude. Not ok.

I've read the chapter three times over and I still got 60%. All he says when I get the grade is I didn't understand the text. Nothing was good enough to him. There was no way I was going to pass.

The material is interesting, but he doens't actually teach. There's no feeback, lecture, nothing. You read the textbook, participate in discussions, and quiz. He's a brutal grader on the discussions and what's worse he doesn't give any feedback. The tests are overly difficult and the research paper is ridiculous. Avoid this class at all costs.

The homework is easy. Every other week you have two discussions and a quiz. To be honest I don't think she looks at what you write but if you meet the word count. The quizzes are hard but doable. Final and midterm are the same. For your research paper though, she does not grade them herself but a TA. It comes off as lazy and recommend do not take!

This is the wrost Professor I have ever had my whole 2 years at Delta College If I could use some bad words I would , Due to COVID-19 you would think Professors would be more understanding and make exceptions but not this guy . he is horrible . i dont wish bad on anyone , but lord bless this mans soul

The assignments in the module are notlisted in chronological order. He put a link up for the wrong video for a quiz. When I called him out on it, he offered me another attempt to take the quiz, but did not make an annoucement to the class. He marked a question wrong on my midterm, when I wrote to him with a quote from the text, he ignored my email.

This professor was not helpful with assignments and did not give constructive feedback on said assignments. It was the opposite, his comments on my work were actually hurtful and did in no way help to better explain things that I did not understand. Not approachable.. I had to basically teach myself.. Find another professor!

The TA graded all of my homework, suspecting that it was generated by AI. I even offered to record my writing sessions to demonstrate that I wasn't using AI, but the professor declined. The grading policy was such that if the grader believed even one sentence was AI-generated, the entire assignment would receive a zero. I decided to switch classes.

Bad. He never has a lecture to explain anything, instead he just makes us read the textbook and answer quizzes and discussions. On the discussions he mostly gives you a bad grade no matter how hard you try. For some reason another teacher Daniel Tounian kept giving me trash scores on all discussions. Copy pastes the same comment on all discussions.

90% of the discussions he grades are graded unreasonably. Even worse are the comments which are basically the exact same for every assignment. The comments do not help at all. He never actually teaches. Even a person who knows how to use a computer can teach better than this guy. I would rather have Chat GPT teach me at this point.

Never take his course. Its like they want us to fail. Above that he does not help at all. All he does is make us read the textbook and answer the questions given. The comments on the assignments are not helpful at all and very hard to understand. 90% of the comments from him are like riddles. The comments from the TA is just cop pasted every time.

Had to drop this course because the prof claimed I used AI on my assignments. I even used Grammarly's AI detection program and got back 0% ai, and still was accused of using it. It is as if this class is designed for you to fail with empty accusations of cheating. If you need to fill your history section for gen ed, I'd go with women's history.

His TA is grading everything! I never get a full score on the discussion, no matter how much I read, and also, he never gives me any feedback. It's like he wants me to fail.

Honestly, what do you expect from a professor with a PHD in history? Of course, he wants the world to know that he is a DOCTOR. Do not take this class; there is no rubric for discussions. Honestly, I knew what his class entailed; I'd have taken modern history. Genuinely an awful professor. He probably prays he doesn't lose tenure
