Funny, funny little man.
Greatest prof i ever had
best prof ive had at mrc
1 of the2 best profs i have ever come across, very smart man, LOVE his class, look forward to his class all week, Makes the class's fly by. You would be lucky to have him.
hard to understand at first but once you get passed the accent it is a very good class, and his tests are really easy.
He makes class enjoyable! His stories are entertaining and the tests are easy. Great teacher!!
He was such a great teacher. I took this as a spring course, and it was 4 hours long 2 times a week. I was dreading it, but this was one of the best courses I ever took. He made it so much fun! I can't stand sociology but I would take any of his classes again if I can.
Very fun teacher. He keeps you interested with his jokes and stories. His tests are very easy (except for the final!!). He really knows how to keep a class engaged.
Best professor ive ever had changed my view of thinking in life made class fun easy felt free to ask questions got anything i didnt get clared up tests were straightforward from notes made me understand and actually appreciate the society we live in and not just saying that as a cliche amazing wonderful guy
I took this nightclass in the Fall semester of 2005, and didn't enjoy myself at all. Professor came across very close minded, and when he got excited his words were extremely difficult to decipher.

Very entertaining and humourous. His class wasn't hard until the final exam, which was completely brutal, and brought down everyone's marks.
awsome. awsome. awsome.
taylor-cole definatley is a character. as much as you could do well in the class with just reading the text and not going to class, he brought the entertainment aspect to sociology. his accent is hard to understand, but once you have been to a couple classes itll make sense to you. his tests are sometimes rediculous and have questions that are hard
Really cute little man. I really liked him and thought he was so funny. Sometimes hard to understand. He loved to laugh at his own jokes! Not super easy but not hard either. I would totally recommend him.
Such an awesome guy!
This is my second class with him. He has a lot of passion for what he does. Although his test are somewhat out of the ordinary, they are fair. By the end of the semester you realize you've learned more than originally thought!
He's really hard to understand. Hi squizes are bizarre, just read the text, don't worry about going to class, he tends to read out of the text anyways. Loves to laugh at his own jokes, but nobody else understands what he said, even if it was funny. Find another prof for this class if you can.
TERRIBLE!! He does not communicate what he wants, marks hap-hazardly depending on his mood, and he argues with his students. He also demands you basically memorize the text book (word-for-word or it will be wrong)- which is horrible, old and terribly out of date with the times. Very hard to do well in his class.
very nice but hard to understand. you either need to really concentrate on what he's saying or really concentrate on trying to understand his writing. Laughs a lot for no reason. A 3 hour class goes fairly fast but you don't feel like you've learned much. you must read the text to do good on quizzes
Write down (and MEMORIZE) everything he says, or puts on the board because most of his quiz and final questions come from that stuff. You'll spend a lot of time going through the text on your own trying to fill in the gaps in his lecture.
This guy is amazing? The first day of class I was scared that he is gona be super hard .. But he is soo easy and soo kind. Just attend the class so you know whets gona be on the test .
Boring course, hard to know what's expected. Only 2 quizzes and a paper with an exam worth 40% (not a lot of exam prep?). Wilfred is a very friendly prof as long as you don't debate with him.
Not helpful at all. His classes are irrelevant to attend as all you do is watch movies. Might as well stay at home and read the text book.
WILFRED!!! I wish i had Wilfred for all my classes! Such an awesome guy. I honestly didnt learn much, but had a great time in all his classes (i dont think there was a class i didn't enjoy). Crazy funny guy, and very easy going. He has a thick accent, but once you get used to it, you'll do just fine. I hope to have Wilfred again in the future
Hard to understand but the tests were easy and relatively little work went into getting an A in this course.
It's like this. Want an easy A. Take his class. Don't underestimate the final though. He goes super hard on it SOMETIMES. If he feels like it I guess. so make sure you know some things. Other than that it's typically smooth sailing. Kind of funny too and is all about beyonce . Sounds weird but is hilarious sometimes.
There is a lot you are expected to know. There were things on the final that I don't even remember going through. Whips through overhead slides at breakneck pace (I could only keep up with a laptop). The final is unlike anything you do or go through during the course. He is very hard to understand while talking and in his writing. Not fun.
Great teacher. He has an accent but if you can get past that his lectures are crystal clear & to the point. His tests are simple as long as you study. He his very helpful and makes you laugh every class. I would recommend and take his class again
Ok prof. Funny, hard to understand, exams are easy.
He has a heavy accent but I understood him. Super nice guy and I found the exams easy if you follow his review sheets, write notes in class and read the book when necessary. Awesome class I would recommend him. Oh and I liked his jokes, he's funny and extremely knowledgeable.
Vague expectations. Exams are after very specific answers and they aren't always part of the text book. For example: "_blank_ _blank_ is an important part of Canadian culture." Well, could be anything... Nice guy. Disappointed - the final was full of tricks. Careful with this prof.
Very very funny little man, his quizzes are fairly easy but the final was a little bit tough, I would recommended him again.
He's a very nice funny guy! This class is great for those that are auditory learners. He does not use BB therefore attending class and having the textbook is crucial. The final was harder than expected. Not a class to take if you dread fill in the blanks.
Great professor! He made the class enjoyable and easy to understand. Must attend class to get lecture notes since he doesn't post online. But overall i loved his class and i recommend him to anyone.
I took this class in the spring, so based on what I read of others, the spring course is 10x easier! Bring a laptop to this class, he talks fast and goes through the notes fast. ALWAYS GO TO CLASS IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE! He doesn't post notes on BB, and his notes are crucial for exams. Overall not bad, hard to understand though.
This prof has a thick accent, but I found it just fine after the first class. He doesn't use blackboard and he will tell you that point blank. Class participation in discussion will help you better understand the material as he always expands with real life applications. You must use the textbook to pass the final. Lastly, it's all about Beyonce!
If you follow instructions, you will do very well.
K,let's get real no teacher is easy on students. Thats how it is no matter where you go or what course you take he gives extra credit on quizzes when you touch bases on at least 1key point from the question even if it wasnt exactly right He goes through notes really fast so I use to take pictures Best way, very easy going teacher Attend class&pass!
Wilfred is an amazing Prof and i wish i could take all my classes with him. i really enjoyed his class, although there were lots of note taking. all his quizzes and exams are based on his notes so make sure you go to class. he is a very easy marker, he gives you point marks for at least trying so i never left questions on quizzes unanswered. :)
Good lecture and all. Openly fantasizes about Beyonce and tells his students about it during class. No, I'm not joking.
Has a a strong accentspeaks fast so he is hard to understand. Make sure you attend class to get notes. Quizzes are ridiculously easy, but the final was really hard. Before the final I had a 97%. think I got 60% on the final. There were a lot of questions that he not once talked about in class or mentioned in notes.
Taylor was alright. His accent was very difficult to understand at first but it got a little better. Prepare to write notes fast and just memorize his notes and everything he mentions in class. I was not aware of what to really study and his notes are very scattered and confusing. Over all the class was not too difficult but effort is needed .
I learned absolutely nothing in this class! His lectures are literally lectures on what he feels is right or wrong; they did not provide a foundation for future SLGY classes or for the final. He refuses to use the technology my tuition pays for (posting feedback on Blackboard). He bursts out laughing ifwhen he encourages participation. Avoid!
Impossible to understand. Rude if you don't agree with his opinion (which is all he teaches). Brings grades to class for all to see. The final had topics he NEVER covered in class. Complete waste of tuition; have learned more on the topic using a Google search.
Very easy teacher, goes through notes and key points that will be on the exams!! Literally, so if you can't keep up take pictures of his notes! Sometimes he's hard to understand but you'll get us to it. I would take more of his classes. KEY POINT: HIS NOTES ARE YOUR EXAM(S)! TAKE PICTURES
His notes are essentially key points from the textbook, and he's hard to understand at times during the class which makes sitting through lectures tough. I found his instructions for papers very vague and he assumes you know exactly what he means when he explains something. If you can get over that, the class is ok but I wouldn't take it again.
Notes are your exams, take pictures! the rest you don't need to understand. If you don't know what he wants on your essay ask for a template,he'll give you one! Exams are supper easy, follow the study guide and study! his accent is hard to understand, very knowledgeable so you can have a good argument with him. would take his classes again!!!
The class itself would have been so great and interesting with another teacher. Wilfred is nice and funny, he laughs at his own jokes all the time which aren't even funny but it's amusing. The midterm was so easy but the final was brutal. His lectures are only made of word docs no power points, rely on the textbook.
Terrible prof! He is hard to understand due to his accent, and half of the time he does not display his notes on the projector. It appeared that he gave every student the same grade on our papers. Announced that the final would not be cumulative but it turned out to be.
AMAZING PROF!!! would highly recommend!! he is a little hard to understand cause his ascent but you will get used to it. EASY grader ! mid term was easy. his tests are the notes! just pay attention and study the notes and you will pass ! I will defiantly take his classes again!
He emails all of his notes before his lectures so you don't have to go to class to understand because he reads the notes word for word. His lectures are boring and the content can be understood if you read through your textbook. He is kind of hard to understand and his writing isn't legible. The mid-term was easy & he's a really easy marker.
Although he is passionate about sociology, sometimes that passion is reflected through his super fast talking. When he gets too excited, he talks too fast and his accent makes it impossible to understand. He is an easy marker tho, mid-term was easy + all my papers got 100. The videos he shows are really outdated. Rely on the textbook!
The final was completely unexpected. Study the TEXTBOOK in good detail since some of the questions strayed from the study guide. There were questions that he discussed for 2 seconds in class which his accent makes is incredibly hard to understand. You'll think you're doing fine until you do his final.
Depending on where you plan on going with your degree, he can be an amazing professor. Him and myself both have similar work experience and because of this I found that his lectures are based on personal experience and real world knowledge instead of textbook teaching and opinionated beliefs. He accent can be some what heavy when he speaks fast.
His accent is very strong, i can never understand what hes saying. He puts on many videos which make the lectures better. papers worth 30% of your grades and very hard. he is not helpful at all online, you have to go talk to him and force him to answer your questions. other than his awful teaching, hes a pretty nice guy. you get used to the accent.
Read the textbook. Easy grader when it comes to midterms, and papers, however the final is honestly brutal. I've taken two classes with him and his grading style is consistent. Hard to understand due to his heavy accent.
He's a nice prof. I've had him twice so far and he's a fairly easy marker for papers through the tests are a little harder. Found that I had to refer to the textbook a lot to study. Usually lets class off early and his notes are pretty similar to the textbook.
If you like to listen to lectures and be inspired then DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You can't intake anything because his accent is so strong and his tests are more like memorization then understanding the content. I had the potential of getting on the dean's list and now my chance is ruined because of this one class. Also the FINAL is ridiculous!
super nice guy, likes to laugh (at himself). but his accent is so strong it's hard to understand, so you'll have to read the textbook to teach yourself for the midterm and final. he gives you outlines for the midterm and final, but they are very broad. up to the final, everything was super easy though, except the final was really hard.
He has a thick accent, but he is a great guy and and the class is easy as long as you do the textbook readings. There are not many assignments and he is an easy marker.
Good teacher, fair marker, final is tough, but most of my classes @ mru were the same. Very articulate and funny, accent is a non-issue, despite classmates thoughts, students might critize but whatever, he better than most
Definitely not what I expected, but was a pleasant surprise. If I can pass this prof's class, then anyone can. Recommed you take and push pass second thoughts.
Wilford is the man
HARD TO UNDERSTAND HIM. SO DON'T BOTHER GOING TO CLASS CAUSE IT WILL BE A WASTE OF TIME. REFER TO THE TEXTBOOK.
Avoid this professor if you can. Accent makes it difficult to understand him, randomly cancels class, does not work from any kind of real outline, just talks. Lectures are essentially a series of personal anecdotes about his life, not based on text. One of the laziest profs I've ever had. You'll be teaching yourself if you want to learn.
This prof was completely rude and not at all understanding to any students. Also really hard to understand him.
got a decent grade, can't complain, I would take his course again
He was an okay professor. His lectures were sometimes interesting but more often than not youd have to teach it to yourself in the texbook. Medterm and final together make up 70% of your grade so for some people that could be a bad thing or it could be a good thing. He's really nice professor but he probably wouldn't be the best fit for everyone.
Wilfred was one of the most confusing profs Ive ever had. The class was very unstructured and it was basically just him reading straight from the textbook, flipping to random pages. His expectations are too high for what the assignments are and what theyre worth. Feedback was also unclear and only like 5 people showed up for the class usually.
Wilfred is a nice guy and will happily answer your questions in or during class, but I found it difficult to reach him via email, as well as difficult to understand him in his lectures due to his heavy accent. In the end, I ended up relying mostly on the textbook. Definitely invest in the textbook, and if you have questions, ask him after class.
The best prof ! Funny and easy grader Make sure you read from the textbook because thats where he gets lots of his questions for his midterms and finals
his quizzes are really easy and are straight from his powerpoint notes. he also gives you sample questions before all tests and is similar to the actual exams. easy marker and you can easily get an A. no group projects or presentations
I took Wilfreds class and to say the least it was a pretty good. However my biggest problem was that he hadn't updated any marks until after the final exam, not allowing anybody in the class to dispute marks or even know what grade they were going into the final with. To say the least I am not taking another class of his again
Pretty good teacher, just ask lots of questions, in person when you can
Super easy class, funny guy. Would recommend the textbook for this class to keep up. Take pictures of slides during lecture, he doesn't post any online.
When my friends and I first got to Wilfred's class, we were super nervous abut his accent because he is hard to understand so we wanted to drop the course. We stuck it out, but it is important to just read the text and follow with his word docs. His lectures always ended early, lots of youtube videos, and Quizzes are straight forward
Hard to understand his accent? Yes. Is that a problem? No, its not his fault. Easiest A of my life. Just read the lecture notes and maybe a little bit of the textbook chapter summaries before the exams and youll be just fine. Plus Wilfred is a chill guy and is super approachable. 10/10 prof. Would take again.
Lectures are a little dry but if you attend class, you wouldnt need to open the book. And read his class notes. Hes pretty funny and gives a ton of personal examples. Midterm and final consist of m/c and true/false. I would gladly take another class with him.
The class consists of him talking over videos he shows all class. Can't understand him. And grading is based on a very short quiz, a very short midterm, final, and attendance. Tests come down to moreso strategy of answering then actually knowing the content.
You cant understand a word he says. However, not his fault. The lectures were useless to me because of it though, and I ended up just reading the textbook. Graded by a quiz, a midterm and a final. All MC/T/F, and very straightforward. If there is an "all of the above" option, its 90% the answer and about 70% of the test had that option. Easy A.
Wilfred lets you know what's expected of you on the test. The tests are extremely straight-forward and from the videos and textbook. Don't be afraid to choose the same answers on the multiple choice 6 times in a row, Wilfred isn't shy with it, which can throw many people off. He also has an accent which is hard to hear. He will give you extensions.
Wilfred is very kind and will help you make-up for missed tests or assignments. He likes to confuse people off by having some of the same answers for the questions multiple times in a row (ex. answer C nine times). Although Wilfred's thick accent is hard to understand, he will give students a test preparation sheet which will be verbatim the test.
