one of the worse teachers ive ever taken! seems nice at first, but is so boring. spends half the class time telling stories and the other half telling you what pages to read. doesnt teach a thing. only good thing is open note tests and a lot of extra cred
Doesn't explain whats on the test! Says students just want to be spoon fed! Don't take him if you can help it. He's nice but its not easy to get an A.
Very unclear about assignments, changes testing style throughout semester, very boring class, his comments are rude sometimes, the worst teacher I have ever had.
He is HORRIBLE! Very unclear about what he wants on projects, he changes the requirements after some groups have presented and makes them redo their projects. tests are open note but still very difficult
HORRIBLE teacher. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. Guaranteed that he will tell you about his family working at FEDEX. Not worth wasting your time.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is the worst teacher I have ever had. His power points are page numbers from the book, and he gives assignments but gets mad when students don't "read his thoughts" on what he wanted. His extra credit is the only reason I am
Can not explain in words how bad this guy is. For his lectures he will read the sentences that include the bold words and will also read out loud the section and what page its on. Worse than that, none of this is ever on the test. DO NOT TAKE!!!
does not prepare well for tests. Your on your own. Hard to make good grades, but gives so much extra credit, it is still possible to get an A.
changed completely since spring 04. WONDERFUL professor. 50 yrs. experience in industry, very well traveled and wise about all part of the industry. plenty of extra credit, test reviews, class is interesting.
He is horrible and treats you like a child with his attendance rules. He is amazingly boring and the class drags. Please avoid taking this class for the sake of your sanity. He sucks!!!
Take this class!! I learned more in this class than any other class I've ever taken! It was very interesting, fun, and the he gives excellent reviews for every test! Don't listen to the other ratings! He is a GREAT teacher.
Kind of boring but tons of Extra Credit. Impossible to get an A you just have to be willing to do some of the work! He has alot of insight into the industry! Not that bad!
As a teacher he's ok...I found the class to be very easy....He gives out so much extra credit you'd have to be brain dead not to get an A. If you need the grade take his class.
great teacher one of the best.knows a lot, very interesting and challenging. would definitely recommend this class.learned a whole lot from him
He is the worst professor I have had at UCF. He grades his test and projects unfairly. You can get a good grade with the extra credit he gives you but it is not worth it to have to deal with him.
Does not know much about the nitty gritty of the trade show industry. For the written project, you better know he likes citations. You can't think on your own because he'll want a citation if it sounds good.
also teaches HFT 3700; listen he might be strcit but he gives you the questions to the test b-4 u take it, he is available for extra help if needed and he is a very well connected individual! His project is not hard, just make sure U site everything!
Take this class! You will get the questions to the test to use during your test and you get to use additional notes! What else do you want, a silver spoon? Just take it, you'll get extra credit help so its impossible not to get an A
Boring teacher!. ISn't clear about what he expects for projects. Doesn't really teach anything. Project is too time-consuming. Tests don't make sense.
He's very meticulous and you better have ESP because you will need to read his mind. It's easy to pass his class though if you try. He's a sexy beast as well.
The class is very easy, if you dont get an A theres something wrong with you, he offers so much extra credit. He gives the test questions weeks prior to the exam, so that's a given.Take thsi class!
Very experienced, lots of extra credit, test questions in advance, very fair guy!! Kind of intimidating but you can get an "A" in here, don't worry!!!
yeah, he was easy. too easy to the point that he RAMBLED on and on and on about bull-sh*&, meanwhile group presentations are scheduled and by the time he shuts up, there's no time left for the presentations and the groups have to rush! very OLD FASHIONED AND STUBBORN
His way or NO WAY - dont take him if at all possible. He is unclear unfair & does not budge or ANYTHING. He is very experienced but has a hard time teaching what he knows. Teachers should be sympathetic to students needs and he is quite the opposite. Find another professor for this class.
Professor Iskat is very experienced in the field of Hospitality... he really knows what he's teaching. He was very helpful and a fair teacher. Go to his office hours if you have any questions, he would be more than happy to help you.
took off 19 points for a project i turned in because it didn't look "professional" enough. but before handing it back, he lost it!
Very stubborn and unbending. He is experienced and knows a lot, but has a very hard time teaching it. Find another professor if you can, but if you can't, be prepared for some really hard work.
Think an old dinosaur. He is very expericned in the feild but is very stubborn. Its an easy A with all the extra credit you can get, but the project can be very stessful. But I would take him again.
He is a mean grumpy old man that can't admit that he is wrong. Don't take him.
The Doc is crazy. Some dont like his teaching methods, but is totally a fair grader. He offers up to 20 points extra added onto your final grade! How can you beat that? Come on people, Iskat is the man. Plain and simple.
you can use the test reviews during the tests, LOTS of extra credit, and the stories are interesting (the first time you hear them). NOT difficult classes if you can keep your stuff together
The man is a moron and crazy. He makes up rules as he goes along, violating his own sylibus. You all write about extra credit..what extra credit? Stay far far away, but he is a better alternative than Croes. Gives a lot of pop quizzes, but never teaches so everyone fails them. The guy is nuts!
Dr. Iskat is alright. Very knowledgeable in the hotel industry. WORD OF WARNING:If you want to ask any questions to him, catch him on a good day. Also he doesnot like laptops in class. Be prepared for weekly pop quizzes project. Term Project was the highlight of the semester. Great Idea Iskat
He tells really boring stories that makes you not want to go to class. His tests and quizzes were open notes which was good but he grades HARD on group papers and presentations. do not take him!
Boring teacher, very hard to attend class, students learn absolutly nothing in this couse, Group project is easy but he grades the assignment very hard, do not take him as a teacher, UCF should fire him. Worst teacher ever in every aspect.
The WORST teacher I have taken at UCF! Tells boring stories that have nothing to do with what is going to be on the test. Very stubborn and will not admit to being wrong. Everything must be his way even if no one understands what that way is. Very unclear with what he wants but will still peanilize you.
He does NOT teach the material at all. You mainly have to read the book and teach yourself. He does random pop quizzes that are very hard and based soley on the reading. He's extremely tough. The group projects are the worst and his grading system is off the wall and proj is 50% of your grade. PS he reads these postings in class on the first day.
Awful teacher! His lectures differ from the book and when it comes time for the test you don't know whether to go by his lectures of the book. Very confusing and unorganized. Class project is insane, tests are difficult, and he is an extremely hard grader! Avoiding this man will be the best decision you've ever made!
He is very opinionated, but very knowledgeable in the industry. His quizzes are almost impossible to pass, even if you've read the book 5 times, b/c they are very specific. The group project has to be PERFECT in order to get an A. He's hard to put up with for a semester, but very easy to get an A or B b/c of all the extra credit offered.
good teacher not impossible to make an A, I got a B only by putting in a minimal amount of effort. Knows his****, would take him again
He's okay. He tells long stories that can be interesting, but irrelevant. The tests are difficult and you really have to study or you WON'T pass. Our project was pretty cool and a way to bring up your grade if you do good on it. If I could go back I'd pick a different proffessor, but he isn't so bad.
I was very disappointed. I had taken him for 2750 and he was at times unfair but not to the extent that he was in this class! Horrible project! Everyone would just sit there and argue with him everyday over simple errors he would make but yet we had to do everything perfectly. He does not like to admit that he is wrong, I'm glad it's over!
Class was okay. He is very experienced in the field and has a story for everything. He teaches the book and if you do the workbook you should do fine on the quizzes. One project which was very easy and can bring up your grade if you follow directions. He doesn't really let you know of what is expected from you. I would take him again if needed.
By far the worst teacher at the Rosen School and hated by most all of the students. In the class I had him for he singled out people from my project group to humiliate them. He grades on his discresition and not by hard work of the students. He should not be allowed to teach at any school.
He has got to be one of the worst teachers that I have EVER had. He is very inconsistent when it comes to grading and he is SET in his ways. If you don't memorize every word in the book then you are bound to do terrible. There is no easy A or B in this class. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS (Unless you want to be miserablea for 18 weeks)!!
Dr. Iskat has more experience in the Hosp. industry than anyone I've ever met, he has incredible stories & is very inspirational. I LOVED having him for HFT 2750, but didn't think HFT 3700 was his strong point. Class grades are based on 2 or 3 industry related articles, attendance, & the group project.
If you're going to take him, at least don't be as stupid as I was, and take him for two classes in one semester. It was hell.
I hate Dr Iskat! I have him for 3 classes (shoot me) Hes unfair, unorganized, the worst teacher in the whole world...never take him unless you like teaching yourself everything and want to listen to ridiculously boring pointless conceited personal stories about his experiences!
I have had him for two classes and they both sucked!! They probably were the most boring and difficult classes I have taken and I'm graduating in Dec. His tests are rediculous...but I got an A both times... so just stay on his good side... and you will be okay.
Probably the worst teacher at UCF suprising because hospitality is our main focus. Whatever you do, take this class but not with him drop it and take it next semester with another prof. When I think of him stubborn dinosaur comes to mind.
Avoid him at all cost. Not only does he have little respect for his students, his tests are ridiculously HARD!
Awful awful experience. I tried my best to get along with him but he's stubburn and conceited. Don't take this professor.
He is the most boring and concieded person you will ever meet. He constantly trys to make himself sound better than everyone else and he always braggs about his past careers. If he was such a success in the hospitality world like he says then he would be a rich old man and not a boring professor.
When I think of him, hardass comes to mind. He dosen't care about students at all, just bragging about his own past. He knows alot about the business, but dosent' seem to get that he's not our boss, just our teacher. PS, he's a real stickler on attendence, so if you have him make sure you go.
I actually enjoyed this class. Dr. Iskat is realy not that bad, I thought his class was fairly easy, quizzes were all fair and the 2 articles we had to do were SO easy. He is strict on attendance so make sure you don't miss too many classes. He has a lot of experience in the hospitality industry so he can be a very valuable resource.

As far as I'm concerned, his class was easy, but as others have said he IS a hardass. He will not bend to anything that you ask of him, especially when you point out flaws in his logic/test questions. He is ALWAYS right and you will ALWAYS be wrong. 3 tests, a final, 2 short papers, some EC. ATTENDENCE IS IMPORTANT! Don't take if you won't show!
I enjoyed his class, He's really not that bad. Your grade is made up of 2 articles you turn in,4 short quizes and attendance.Really easy. Shares a lot of stories about his trips around the world.
Knowledgeable, but doesn't actually teach anything. Tests come right from the book, but he doesn't lecture on the material; you must read and get it yourself. He is very picky about formatting on assigments & takes att. every class. Class time consists of listening to him talk about his exp. in the industry. Nice guy, just not what I'm used to.
Do Not Take Him!! All he does is tell stories about himself and his amazing (note sarcasm) experiences in the hotel industry. And he takes attendance so you have no choice but to suffer through class.
Constantly talks about himself, teaches nothing from the book. As long as you go to class, read, and follow his strict formats, you should get an A-but suffering through his lectues about his life is miserable!
I think he is nice & he may not always keep on topic and explain things too well but he always has a story to tell. His stories taught me a lot of life lessons & he has a lot of experience in Hospitality. He would be good for recommendations later on.Get on his good side, don't talk in class,he takes attendance,& his tests and assignments are decent.
lots of personal stories, tests are hard, but the class is bearable
Don't take him! He's not helpful, never answers emails so dont even bother. Has no compassion for students with family situations, such as cancer! AVOID HIM! class is extremely boring and pointless. Doesnt even know what he is talking about half the time.
He is a pretty easy teacher as long as your read the book. Tests are straight from the book. He gives you a review for the final and the final questions are straight from the review. You must go to class tho cause attendance is part of your grade.
Attendance taken every class, and his lectures don't usually have anything to do with the material. Read the book & you'll be fine though. He does pull specific statistics from chapters, but if you follow his strict rules with assignments and testing, you'll get an A. He teaches all of his classes pretty much the same way.
Horrible teacher. Worst so far at UCF and Ive been here for 4years. Doesnt care if the whole class fails (he actually told us that). Dont answer emails and goes over tests afterward so fast noone can follow him or write anything down.Isnt clear about assigments, then marks you off for it not being exactly what he wanted. Learned nothing, luck I past
This man is incredible how much he doesnt care about the success of his students. Sure he offered alot of extra credit but the quizzes are close to ridiculous. Sure he can say its because we dont study hard enough, but you know something is wrong when he gets all these negative comments.
Take him during the summer-there is a lot less work. I enjoyed Dr. Iskat very much. He can be difficult at times, but he has a wealth of knowledge. Most of what he lectures on is not on the test. Need to study the book, especially the vocabulary for weekly quizzes. Most of the questions on the test come from these quizzes. EC for online quizes.

Would have loved the class if the teacher was more understanding and helpful. Hard summer class if you have other classes or work a lot because you are expected to be at a conference no matter what you passing depends on it.
This professor is extremely knowledgeable in the hospitality industry. However he is a bit jaded in his years of experience, which he doesn't mind discussing for 1/3 of the class. It's great to hear stories, but it would be better to discuss the info on the upcoming test. If your someone who likes to use excuses, this is not the class for you.
This professor is the most arrogant person I have ever met. He has a strict attendance policy and claims to care about his students but in all honesty is just there to tout himself. His lectures have nothing to do with the text book or the quizzes. He gives the rest of the great and CARING Rosen college faculty a bad reputation and image.
............. Good luck if you will talke this class.......
ok he's not as bad as everyone says he is... just look at the vocab the day of the online quizzes and you'll get an A in the class. the worst part is sitting thru the class and listening to his accent.....

Avoid this class if at all possible. I like lodging & this class didnt help me in the slightest. He gave absolutely no reviews, just about every1 failed all the quizzes and tests. Plus attendence is mandatory u can only miss 2 classes. never again will i take another class taught by him
He is strict but he tells you that ahead of time. If you show up to every class and just follow his rules you should have no problems. He really knows his stuff!
Heartless.
This is by far the worst teacher I've ever had at Rosen. He is very strict on attendence and was not clear on his attendence policies. His tests are tricky and do not include the things you would expect to be on a test. He tries to trick you by asking a question and listing several similar answers. Doesnt have student's futures in best interest.
One of the WORST "professors" I have ever had. Doesnt talk about anything but himself, and you wont be tested on that. Basically he doenst know how to teach. Tests werent straight forward-he tried to trick you. Attendance is mandatory and you will have assigned seats. This class was a waste of time and I didnt learn a thing.
Good teacher. I learned a lot in his class. He tells stories about his experience in the industry which really helps me appreciate where I am going. I enjoyed how he took what was in the book and brought it in to real life situations. He may seem intimidating but he is funny and one of the nicest teachers I have had. The way he grades is good too.
Dr. Iskat is HORRIBLE. Dr. Iskat does nothing but talk about his amazing experiences in the Hospitality industry, although he never really did much. If you want to hear about his amazing experiences being a night auditor then take his class. His tests are ridiculously hard with answers that are very similar. Do not bother trying to contact him.
Had a group project where leader didn't like me. Did everything possible to try to get a good grade-she told Iskat bad things, I got an F on the project-even though I always met early morning and did my fair share! Tried to talk to him about it; he refused to hear me out. Iskat, the reason I changed majors & graduated with a 3.2 in legal studies...
All of these bad comments had me terrified to take this professor...he is actually one of the nicest and most knowledgeable professors I've had! His assignments are not hard and all he expects from his students is to put effort into your education...Come on people...we are in college! Iskat is challenging and fair..Love him
Iskat is unfair & does not keep his word. He never prepares learning material to teach instead he asks the class to ask questions. All he talks about is what he has done during his life. He designs his tests to trick the students rather than teach them. Just because you have experience in the indsutry does not mean you should be a teacher.
Knows a lot about the industry because he has done it all. I enjoy his stories but they are NOT related to course material. He doesn't really teach, he lets you ask questions but only in a certain way. Also he expects his students to have their whole future planned out, when most of us have no idea. Boring class. Best part, field trips.
I honestly don't know why he is still "teaching". Very knowledgeable from all his experience but doesn't know how to teach it. Relied on the book. No test reviews.
Iskat was a really good professor. If you read the chapters you will do well on the tests. If you follow his grading rubric you will do well on his projects. Its as simple as that. People only do poorly in his classes if they are lazy and don't follow directions.
Iskat is an awesome Professor. He has so many connections and is always willing to help out besides just in class. He cares about his students and wants them to think deeper. For example the five year plan, many think it is a waste of time, but I have showed it to many execs and they are extremely impressed. His assignments are useful out of class.
This teacher is horrible. You can do well on the tests but miss a few days of class and your grade drops by a whole letter grade. He is just a pompous old man who has been in the business for years...I should know I had to sti through a whole class of him telling me about each and every award he has ever received! Just avoid this teacher!
His tests are nothing more than a regurgetation of the textbook. I learned some from the textbook and nothing from him. The old saying holds true for him, "If you can do, teach"
WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. IF YOU WANT TO HEAR POINTLESS STORIES ABOUT HIS PAST AND NEVER USE NOTES OR YOUR BOOK, THEN GO AHEAD. BE MY GUEST! HOWEVER IF YOU DONT WANT TO KILL YOURSELF EVERY CLASS THEN I WOULD AVOID HIM.
WORST TEACHER EVER! HE IS SO MEAN. SO SPECIFIC ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENTS AND WILL GIVE U A 0 IF 1 THING IS WRONG. HE TALKS ABOUT NOTHING ALL CLASS, AND HIS TESTS ARE SUPER HARD. DONT TAKE THIS MAN!
I was going to write out a long reason why not to take Iskat's class and then I started reading others. To tell everyone the truth the past reviews explain it all! WORST teacher I have ever had!!
His class is passable. As far as papers go, just follow his directions exactly and u will do fine. He doesnt like internet articles, so be safe and dont use internet articles. Simple. Type his phrases word for word, and you can't go wrong. Exams: Study vocab. Classes consist of him talking abt himself or news articles. Not the book. Not fun, but ez
Attendance is mandatory and if you miss more than 3 classes he takes 5 points off your final grade for each class missed. Only has 2 tests which makes it really hard to study because you never get to know his testing style. Classes can be interesting but he rarely goes over chapt material. Easy to pass bc of extra credit.
Dr. Iskat is the worst professor I've had in two years at UCF. He has absolutely no respect for students and is just a pompous ass. Do yourself a favor and avoid him, even if you have to stay in school another semester to take another professor.
Iskat is very strict and hard on his ways.. BUT WE ARE IN COLLEGE!! If you can't follow rules by now then it's not the professor you should be rating. He is very helpful and understnading if you talk to him. Tests are based on vocab... he tries to trick you. Study hard and just follow the rules.. EASY A!!
He is indeed strict but is a very seasoned professor with tons of industry experience, you will enjoy his class alot if you have an interest in lodging. Lots of open discussion and generally easy assignments. Just show up, follow directions, and be professional and all will be fine. I enjoyed his class and look forward to taking him again.
Dr Iskat is knowledgable about the Lodging industry and has 30+ years of experience. He will tell lots of stories and most will not be relevant to the topic at hand. I found his exams easy (vocab focused). He treats his students as children and will yell at you. I had a hard time showing up for this class because it was so boring. Avoid if possible
This class is a joke and a waste of your, or your scholorships money, Wilfred Iskat is by far the most stubborn old man i have ever meant, he talks about himself and his "Stories" that no one cares about, If you want to take HFT 4253 - "Iskat's World" then be my guest, the tests are hard because HE DOESNT TEACH.
This teacher does not care if your work is worth an A, he gives a higher priority to attendance than he does tests themselves. Attendance was the reason I di not pass the class, my work by itself added up to an A.
A lot of experience, which comes with a large ego and some lack of understanding of our situations as mainly academic students. expectations are a bit unclear for assignments. he does have our learning interests at heart, but he is also a bit intimidating.
Worst class. You will learn absolutely nothing. Attendance is mandatory and class drags on forever. You will need the textbook as his tests are directly from the definitions in the book. He changes test questions purposely to trick you. Make sure you obey the class rules, or he will call you out in class in front of everyone else.
I can't even believe these horrible ratings:( I was afraid to take this class b/c of the ratings but e is such a sweet man! His class was so easy and he does want to help you, tell you about real life experiences, etc. He is one of my favorite teachers. Just respect him and he will respect you. Talk to him and he will really care about you. Lovehim
Yes the attendance is mandatory, yes you need to respect class rules and yes you need to respect the professor... wow what a big deal in college no ? If you do that and don't listen to prejudices you will learn a lot from the industry, from him and from your colleagues in the class ! Best class of the semester !
I took him for lodging and operations he is very awesome. all you have to do is really memorize definitions and come to class it is so simple. you learn alot from he really knows his stuff.
I was scared to take this class because of all the bad reviews, too. But he really is nice if you follow the rules and do what you need to do. His stories do not make him seem pompous, I rather enjoy hearing about his world travels. He does care about his students and has a great deal of respect for them.
Great prof. w/ tons of experience in the field. My favorite by far! Changed my major to Lodging after taking him. Tests are definitions (mostly), some tricky questions but u learn how to take his tests after the first one. No project. No homework. No paper *except Extra Credit if u want it. Will help you get in the industry if you ask!
Was very nervous about taking the class because of the reviews but he is a great teacher. He has tons of knowledge that come with great stories. Tests are tricky but after the first one you pretty much get the hang of it. If you know the definitions you will be okay. NO PROJECT OR PAPER which is great. Make sure to show up to class and study.
He doesn't allow for you to make up anything, extra credit isn't worth barely anything so don't rely on it. His test are a joke they are book terms thats all, lectures aren't terribly boring but he doesn't take kindly to those who disagree with him for any reason. He has been rude to many students in class. I would not recommend this teacher
Iskat can be sometimes very disrespectful. It seems like it doesn't matter what quality presentations you make as long as it's no more than 30 min. He sits with a watch and tells you exactly how much time you spent! He is unorganized, does not tell what exactly to do for projects, what is the format for assignments. Don't waste your time and money.
Took his Lodging ops in the summer. it was fantastic. we went on a field trip once a week. the tests we ok, nothing major. he's a really nice, kind person, though if you do or say something to get on his bad side, watch out! also, his attendance policy is this: if you're early, you're on time. if you're on time, you're late.
I don't know why people speak ill of him. Yeah he's kinda rude, but he directs it where it's due. It's funny. Grades come from 5 test and attendance. Buy the book- all his tests come from the vocab in it. Test can be tricky but if you just study the vocab, you'll pass easily. Gives one opportunity for extra credit. Take him! Easy A!
Professor Iskat is amazing. He has tons of practical knowledge and shares it with his students. He respects everybody, but doesn`t babysit anyone-that`s why so many students don`t like him. If you are in Lodging, then it`s a must for you to take his classes. Easy A, have to do what good students do: read, attend, and participate. And respect!
Extremly boring and rude. attendence is mandatory, will deduct points if absent,or leave early. must buy the book, and will call on you to make sure that you read. The tests are easy its only vocab.do not look at your cell phone during class he will deduct a whole letter grade.
I have taken Iskat 2 times for Intro to Hospitality and Lodging Operations. His tests are similar in format and vocabulary is the main component in his tests. You are allowed 3 absenses per class which is normal for EVERY class, and he hates cell phones being used during lecture. It is quite rude anyway. This class is easy I recomment him!
I enjoyed Mr.Iskats lectures because he gave real world examples. He asks for you opinion in class often, so have one. I had him for lodging and I learned a lot. His tests are very literal in accordance to the vocab. Show up to class and shut off your cellphone. Yes this class recquires studying..God forbid.
I was so interested in this class before I had this professor. It is a very easy class tests are straight forward usually mostly vocab. He uses real life examples but didn't actually teach us what we needed/ wanted to know. Attendance is mandatory! if you dont like coming to class take another professor.
Tests are all vocab and they are easy. The class itself is excruciating and a waste of time because he spends it telling stories. He has a wide network and brings in many guest speakers who are the only interesting part about the class. Also, he's NOT helpful about answering student's questions and refuses to answer questions outside of class.
Dr.Iskaat is one of the disrespect professor I ever met.He is very selfish and never admit if he is doing wrong. He also super strict with attendance time if you come to class just one second late you will count as absent. Also,he always forget something. His mind is very conservative
MY ENTIRE class hated him. He was so rude and has no compassion for students. EVEN THOUGH it is easy it is not worth enduring this class. You will HATE him as did my entire summer class.
The test are primarily vocabulary. Make sure to read the text prior to class and participate. Many are saying he is not compassionate and rude but I found the exact opposite. He likes participation. The majority sit in class and never otter a word and then complain when he won't clarify afterwards. He is boring but his class in manageable.
Professor Iskat knows his stuff!! He has been in the industry for a long time and gives great advice. Attendance is a must! If you pay attention to his lecture, go to class, and read the material; you will def pass his course. He is NOT rude, however, is very direct and expects each student to be respectful as he is!
Rude, disrespectful and hopelessly out of date. Has years of experience, but can't relate to students. Insists on respect but doesn't give it. Tests are easy; vocab and terms from book. Guest speakers are best part of class. You MUST read and participate or he'll call on you. Made an A in class because it was easy, but do not recommend him.
This teacher is very smart and knows the industry. That being said, he is a stickler for rules and makes no exceptions. In class you go over definitions in the chapter for about 20 min. The rest of class he just talks about whatever he is interested in for that week. overall an easy class because I attended and payed attention.
Very knowledgable professor, but cannot teach. His lectures are endless and boring. I never fall asleep in my class, yet this man could put anyone to sleep. 5 Tests (all vocal, NOTHING from lectures on tests) and attendance. Some opportunities for extra credit. 10 pg syllabus too! Ridiculous! Follow ALL of his rules and you'll get an A or a B+
Quiz are all terms. He is very strict on things, for example you can not be a minute late for quiz or exam. He will give you a 0 and he does not really help when you go to him and just look at you like research everything is online. Take someone else if you can!
He dragged on and on with his lectures. At the beginning of the semester he seemed really interesting with all of his knowledge and traveling. But during his classes he would jump from subject to subject and you would have no idea what he was talking about.
not very tech savy, lots of knowledge from experience in the industry, has lots of informative guest speakers they are the best part, his class is very dry and boring, strict on attendance and no electronics, very into participation, test are mostly vocab no additional work, there is extra credit if you need it. Easy to pass boring to attend.
He is strict about attendance and cell phones. Besides that, he is a really nice guy that truly wants the best for his students. His test are very easy, mainly just vocabulary. He has a lot of guest speakers, which are great for networking. I will take him again for other classes.
He has A LOT of experience and wisdom to share with his students. He is an old-school type teacher. No group projects, strictly lectures and tests. Tests are 99% vocabulary straight out of the book. Many say he is boring but if you truly listen, he has a lot of useful tips to share. And knows a lot of very important people.
This professor is old school for sure. He does not have any group projects but he wants students to participate and ask questions (We are in college, can you blame him for asking that of us?). I noticed I was one of the few students who actually listened in class and I found his class to drag on a bit but there was insightful and helpful info.
I was apprehensive to take him after seeing bad reviews. I am glad I did not listen to them and took him anyways. I genuinely enjoyed his class and learned a lot. It was awesome that he brought in so many guest speakers and we had a field trip to the marriot world center. His tests were incredibly easy. He is a really good professor and nice guy.
This truly is a good class, and he does care about teaching. Do not let these other posts fool you. He expects professionalism out of students which should be obvious since we are in college. He's a bit monotone, tells lots of stories, & does NOT allow phones but come on, let's really grade him on his teaching ability which I believe is great.
Very straight forward about what he wants. probably the most boring teacher, lectures the whole time and i havent learned one thing from.
Prof Iskat is a very old school teacher but he puts a lot of work into the class. Lots of guest speakers and the field trip were great insights of the actual industry. He speaks from experience which doesn't help on the tests but they are all vocab so it isn't a huge deal, many students made notecards as he spoke. Class can get boring
Very professional professor who expects the same of his students. If you are able to come to class on time and stay the entire class you will be golden. He doesn't lecture unless you ask questions otherwise he talks about what he wants to. Go over the ch. before class. I didn't study at all and got an A-. I'd take him again.
I just dropped this class because of how moronic the course content is. It's a class for Lodging Operations and we spend the entire class talking about how to do Chicago Format for the research papers we were going to do. I'm not paying for a hospitality class where we write research papers on journal articles from the ucf library archives. AVOID
While Professor Iskat has a lot of experience within the lodging field, I feel like he doesn't understand how to relate to his students. The course material isn't difficult, but he basically just talks about random things he wants to discuss. He can also be very belittling at times, so just be prepared for that if your going to take. I won't again.
