He is horribly mean. He hates it when you ask questions. WILL make you cry. He also uses profanity and will chew you out if you own a cell phone. He will even chew you out for chewing gum!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! BEWARE!!!
This teacher is one of a kind. YOU better take his classes if you want to come out of college with some sort of education. You see he doesn't just teach it, he makes you see it differently. You really need to know your stuff here! The effortiswellworthit
Very cool guy, VERY tough course!
Good teacher. WILL rip you a new one if you talk on your cell. Very hard tests but if you go to class you'll do OK. He will help clear up anything outside of class that you don't understand.

Wonderful teacher! Just remmember the signifigance is.....
This teacher is AWESOME! He is VERY hard though. If you want to slack off, don't take him. If you really want to learn though, he's the best there is. He is tough, but well worth the experience... and don't ever forget the significance!!!! :)
He is the nicest teacher ever! kept me interested in the lectures and i'm not a history buff. make sure u go to class and study the reading terms and you'll be fine. test are a little hard but keep up w/ the reading and it shouldn't be a problem.
excellent teacher with very good classes
a very good teacher, he turns history events into a story to make you understand better, very good teaacher highly reccomended
great guy, loves football which is cool cause u can get him started on football and he'll forget the lesson...i really liked him and the class and im not a history buff but he really keeps it intresting, make sure u do the reading and know the terms thoug
VERY GOOD TEACHER.i have never enjoyed history but he always made it very interesting and the 2 hour lectures flew by.i actually learned the stuff!but you have to go to class, learn the terms and READ!very understanding of personal problems.TAKE HIS CLASS
You really have to stay on your stuff with this professor! Pay attention, take lots of note and STUDY, STUDY STUDY! GOOD LUCK!
This is the teacher that took over for William Roberts. My **** teacher! He is very hard and you have to come to class all the time. Good teacher but VERY HARD!!
He is a good teacher, very clear. Make sure you know the book terms because they are on the test every time. His class isn't difficult, but isn't easy either. As long as you study and come to class, and know the book terms, you'll do fine.
He's a good guy. You need to go to class and listen to his lectures and do the readings. He knows what he is talking about and makes it easy to understand. His tests are short answeer, but if you do what he says you will have no problem getting an A. Plus some of his tests are take home :)
I took his class on-line and it was very hard. He was not at all helpful when it came to questions about the material. His tests are knowing terms and the significance to history. All essay style. If you take him be prepared to work your butt off studying for his test. I got an A, but I worked.
Took his American Foreign Affairs class.VERY GOOD TEACHER!I have never been a history person but he always kept it interesting with his stories.Go to class, read the book, and learn the terms he gives you and you'll do fine.At least one take home test.Very understanding and helpful.TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
This guy teaches a great class. He actually makes history easy to learn and remember. He's got a great sense of humor and his lectures are really interesting. His tests arent that bad, but you have to read the book and study hard.
I had Mr. Benedicks for History last semester. He is really easy and he is very flexible. His lectures are straight forward and he gives good take home tests. Its hard not to make a good grade is his class. He is one of the best History teacher at TCC.
One of my favorite teachers at TCC and the best history teacher I've ever had. I loved listening to his lectures. I learned so much from that class and I have a greater appreciation for history, not just dates but the relevance of the events. You can't slack off, but definitely take his class.
his class is interesting and his tests are easy if you study his notes and do the terms.
This class was ok, except for the fact that 100% of the tests were essays. This is a college course and not the FCAT.
He makes class so enjoyable to take. AND if you liked him in History, try him with Mr. Zimmerman for a twist on early 19th-20th century World and American Society try IDS2900. The class was so thought provoking. Especially when Benedicks and Zimmerman would argue over who was right about culture!
I hated history before I took his class. Took a lot of notes. It is easy if you show for class and do the reading. Test is very easy. All essay, but if you take good notes you will get a A.
the tests are easy. he is funny sometimes, and he is pretty nice. have fun!
Benedicks is a difficult teacher. Taking a massive amount of notes is fine but it's very difficult for people who have to work 40 hours a week to read 100+ pages for each test. His tests can be extremely difficult unless you know the material very well. I thought he deducted an unfair amount of points per question even if you thought you did well.
not an easy teacher, lots of notes, lots of reading, however just implemented (with my class) something where u do a project with a theatre class.. cool concept. this guy doesnt take **** and gets pissed when people dont show up. but doesnt take attendance. nice guy, pretty laid back
He is a great teacher. Just look up the answers for his study guide and you have the test right there. It's also important to take notes. he's cool and I enjoyed his class a lot.
Good lecturer, very interesting. The group project he assigns is total crap though, with difficult time lines, and vague expectations. If you don't take notes, you will not pass.
I thinK I would have made an 'A' instead of a 'B' if I would have taken this class on campus. However, I would recommend this professor.
Awesome lecturer. As long as you try, you're guraunteed an A in the class. The only class I actually enjoyed going to this year. The major project he assigns is a pain in the ass,but they grade lightly, so almost anything is going to make at least a B.
he gives all the important details... he leaves all the crap out
He's a very good teacher. As long as u go to class and take notes which is going to be a lot, u should do fine. I amazingly got a B out of the class. All his tests are short answers and one essay question. He always gives out the study guide b4 the beginning of lecture so take notes on all the short terms listed and you should do fine
Dr. Benedicks was definitely one of my top 3 favorite professors at TCC. He made history a story. You almost believed he lived through it.
I like him as a person, but I felt like the test were extremely hard because he gives you a study guide with things from lecture and assigned reading, there could be like 40 total terms, but then only 5 from lecture and 3 from reading and one essay question, so if you miss like 2 questions you are going to get a nad grade..if u love to study hes 4
Professor Benedicks is a good teacher. You dont have to go to class but you do have to get the notes before each test from his lectures. He gives a study guide for each test as well. This teacher knows everything and makes it interesting for each class lecture. He gives a lot of extra credit and 1 take home test. Great class to take.
First off, BUY THE BOOK. He is very into his lectures, he knows alot and enjoys teaching. He gives you a study guide sheet for each test which has about 10 reading and 10 lecture terms (only 8 of each are on the test, you only have to answer four) and he'll pick one out of three essays on the sheet. There's also a take home essay test.
I enjoyed his lectures, he really knows his stuff and conveys it in a great way. The only problem was this awful group project that combined my class and a drama class. I had trouble getting my group together because we never saw one another. I was in fear of a low grade so I dropped the class. If you dont like group work dont take the class.
Fantastic teacher! I greatly advise attendance and try not to be late, he doesn't appreciate it. His tests are difficult (usually ten terms you have to define and identify the significance of each and an essay. If you take notes, you'll have the term and he gives the essays before test. Study! He's one of the best History professors I've had!
show up to class take notes, read the text, and passing the class will be no problem
I took the clas online and i can say that you must read the book or at least stude those terms! The class is not that hard, but it definitely takes some time studying
He could be a bit angry at times.
He can be very judgemental. Don't be late, don't talk in class, and be careful what questions you ask. His tests are extremely hard. Although I felt like I learned alot, don't take this class if you don't have all the time in the world to study.
AMAZING!! he's great. when he asks you questions, answer them how you think they should be answered not by what you think he would want to hear. He knows his stuff. Please take him. I think he is amazing and I think that he really wants to teach you stuff that "coach" didn't teach you in high school. I realized i knew nothing until I got him. great
Great guy. Willing to help. Keeps class interesting. You will learn alot!
Great Teacher!!! You must attend every class, 90% of test material is from lecture! Beware: All his tests are written response, no multiple choice or T/F answers! Class is a bit difficult, but I guarentee you'll deffinately learn the thigs that "Coach" didn't teach you! He knows his stuff and knows how to make it interesting! Book is Mandatory!
Very Very good teacher. Read the book or skim it for the terms, Be very clear and connect your thoughts together on the essay exams and you will do fine. I learned a ton in this class and he makes it very exciting.
Dr. Bene****s really knows his stuff and is not your average history teacher. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is essential to success in his class. The tests are pretty straight forward - he always hands out a review sheet and it's about 40% lecture, 30% from the book, and 30% essay (which he covers). Not the easiest A, but highly recommended.
He's a cool teacher. He really explains the material well and adds his own little flavor to it. His tests are difficult if you don't study and come to class. He gives all of the information needed so you will never have to guess what will be on his exams. Be thorough in your answers and you will love his class.
One of the best teachers I've had at TCC. He made the class very interesting and I learned so much. Time always flew by in that class. It is wise to come to class everyday because notes must be taken every class. His tests are easy, but you have to prepare and study for them. He is a great teacher, and I would definitely recommend him!
Dr. Bene****s was one of the best teachers I've ever had! His lectures are interesting. I love history, but didn't particularly like American History from the turn of the century on, and he made it fascinating. I highly recommend him, and would take him again if he taught a class I could take.
Do not take this class online. Very hard. He gives too many terms to study and you spend time studying all those terms and if you don't put down what he wants to hear you don't pass the test
STUDY! His tests consist of short essay questions from reading/lecture and a long essay. He gives a study guide that is paramount to doing well on the tests. I've never had to study so hard in any other class. He definitely knows his stuff and by the way he conducts his tests, he wants you to, too.
The online class was difficult. Excessive terms. He wasnt consistent in returning emails or calls. I selected him as a teacher from this site. He was not considerate.
The online class is extremely hard. There a ton of terms to remember and there are essay questions on every test. Even though I got an A in the class, I wouldn't recomend this class to anyone who doesn't have the time to read every page in every chapter and remember what you read.
The online class is extremely hard. There a ton of terms to remember and there are essay questions on every test. Even though I got an A in the class, I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who doesn't have the time to read every page in every chapter and remember what you read.
I took an American History class from him on line. He leaves the learning to the student. There are not any quizzes, extra credit, homework assignments, just a list of terms and people to identify for a major examination. His tests are hard even if you read the book. Find another professor.
Dr. Bene****s was good. He made history a story. Definitely not an easy teacher, lots of notes, lots of reading, HARD TEST however he is what made me enjoy the class.
His normal classes) are very challenging but not impossible. You have to go to every class and takes notes. You can skim the readings for the important names/events that the study guides tell you to learn. Tests work like this: you have ~10 topics to write short essay on. Choose ~7 of them. He has major points he wants to see in the essays.
his online class is ridiculous. ive never got a C in my life and got a C in it. he doesnt help at all. i emailed him three times and he never once responded. your better off taken a different teacher if you want an A.
I took his online class and it was ridiculous. There are only four exams. He leaves the learning completely up to the student. On top of that he is completely impossible to get a hold of. I have sent email after email to him, and left voice messages and never gotten a call back. I wouldn't reccomend this class to anyone.
Worst teach ever, gives no help! tests are all essay format usually he gives you 15 to study from he chooses 5 you write about 3 which incude lecture terms and book terms and one long essay question worst class ever!
SO easy. I literally only spent about 8 hours total for this class throughout the semester. There were 4 tests and 1 participation grade which counts as a test grade. If you do the study guide then you will get at LEAST an 80 on every test. The study guides have the page number each term is on. SO SO easy!!!
He is very helpful and has no problem answering questions. The class is NOT an easy A. You must read the sections he wants you to read and make notes on "key words" he wants you to know. If you do the work, you can pass the test. I took the online class. No quizes, just 4 test and a participation grade. Will need book!
He is absent so much.....if you want a reliable professor who is going to really teach and be there every day, don't take his class. He misses so much class.
class was not easy but decent. I enjoyed most of the lectures. Test ok. would take other courses from dr. b
Class isn't mandatory, but extremely helpful. His lectures are extremely engaging and making absorbing the information very easy. Often repeats things that ends up on tests several times to make memorizing easier. I would definitely take more of his classes.
The reviews on here had me a little nervous about his taking this course online but it was not bad. No, he won't hold your hand and baby you, but this is a college level class! He gives you the terms & essays that will be on the test, as long as you do a fair amount of studying they should be very easy to pass. Very knowledgeable about the subject.
Online class was not as bad as its made out to be on here. He won't baby you but this is a college level class! He gives you the terms and essays that will be on the test, if you spend a fair amount of time reading the text you should be able to pass them easily. No other assignments except a participation grade so no excuse for not studying enough
Not an easy class but he makes it interesting. I'd take him again.
This was the most hardest class I have ever taken! The professor was not as helpful!I took this class online and that was the bad thing! He is very strict and not understanding!I really had a hard time learning the material! He doesn't response to email in a timely manner and it seems as if he doesn't answer to many questions!Old teaching style:(
Is an excellent teacher. He gives both side of the story and lets you develop your own understanding of the topic. No extra credit though! 400 points total, all from tests. Show up and study and you'll make atleast a B, be sure to have the book(he is a co-author). I asked him if he offered any more classes beause I wanted to take him again!
Great professor. NO CELL PHONES, or you get kicked out. I would take him again. I wish he taught my next semester history class. He loves is job, very obvious.
four test worth 100 points each....no extra credit....it is what it is but I made an B so its all good
I did not have a good experience in this class. I found it difficult to understand what he wanted us to know and had no clue what points we needed to study. On one of the tests I studied for I studied all the wrong point because of how unclear it was. I have tried to contact him throughout the class and have had neither a return call or one email.
He was a great professor. Class isn't mandatory, but if you miss class you miss a lot of notes and is hard to catch up. YOU are responsible for reading the textbook, but if you show interest in history he will see that. Be ready to earn your grade. 4 tests for the entire semester, no homework or extra credit. I would take him again.
Did not have a good experience in this class online; materials and textbook were not clear which is sad. I loved History prior to this class.
yes there were 4 test but I had to teach myself. when it came down to the test.I studied everything on the study guide and still failed.he offered a chat but when you asked a question he would state read the page on the study guide.I did pass barely but if I could warn or help someone please dont take this class you will be disappointed. no choice.
He strict, but a great teacher. He expects you to behave as an adult and an adult who wants to succeed. Not an easy class, but he gives you lots of resources and wants you to succeed. If you work hard, study hard, do the reading, and come to class, you should do very well!
The best teacher I've ever had. Kept me interested. You don't have to go to class but if you don't you miss out on a lot of notes. Everything on the study guide he says in class. Study for each test and you'll pass with an A. Only thing that sucks is you can't use your phone lol
Great professor! Best one I've had at TCC so far. Everything on the study guide is on the test. Just made sure to study extra on the essay questions.
He is a lecture teacher so be prepared to write notes! His grades go off 4 test grades only and he gives you a guide line sheet that tells you what you need to study. If you like history this is the teacher for you but if you struggle be prepared to study. He does use the book for terms he does test on. Great teacher!
He was one of the best teachers i have had thus far. He gave study guides for all the tests and there was no homework. He also goes out of his way to make sure that you pass the class
He can come off as harsh at first, but you have to understand his personality. He is a great teacher and so passionate about teaching history. At the end of the semester he cares a lot about your grade and helps you work on the grade you need to pass.
He can come off as harsh, but he is a really good teacher. He is passionate about teaching history. You will want to show up for class and take notes. He is awesome for wanting to help you get the grade you need at the end of the semester.
