He is cool. Class is not to heavy.... good discussions and fun projects... he is a nice guy too, usually in a good mood which is important for a night class. Very understanding and rewards effort.

Compared to all the other English classes his are the easiest. Is open minded to everything and is kinda laid back. He believes that everyone is entitled to their opinion and he doesnt grade hard on essays.

Doucet is an intelligent, witty, and might I add cultured professor. Though he might strike some as odd with his dreads, he is very impartial and sets an atmosphere of learning that will help the student succeed. If you take him for English 1, he is rather easy, but he will quiz you in English 2.

he is a great teacher. very clear and tries to keep things interesting. the class itself is easy and simple as long as you do most of the work. it would be extremely hard to fail.

Very helpful and understanding. If you work and have his class it will be a piece of cake. Collects homework on regular bases but one can still turn it late and still get full credit. Final exam covers mostly review over grammar and 4 page essay. His class was one of the best.

Mr. Doucet is awesome!!! He is so easy...he let's you turn your work in late. Everything you read is very interesting after who goes over it. I recommend him. He is so nice and never picks on anyone. There is make-up test even for midterms. He wants everyone to do well!!!

Absolutely one of the best teacher that I have ever got. Although he's not easy like what everyone else told me, he's really nice and willing to help if students have any questions to him.

Professor Doucet is very helpful if you ask qustions. He likes class participation. There were short stories and two short novels to read. He offers extra credit and accepts late assignments. Best professor for English 2. His tests are easy if you do the homework and read the assignments and he grades fair.

Great instructor who always takes time to explain concepts with multiple examples. He obviously has a passion for language arts and developing critical thinking and writing skills... He actually reads your paper and gives you constructive feedback ...Grading system for papers is broken down in categories so you know what to focus on.

Isn't one of those classes that have you cramming your head in the book so much that you develop neck problems. Works with students to make sure they can attend and pass class. Is aware of the demands of student life. Lectures are clear and tells you what youll be tested on. Open class. Students get to talk and interact-not just a boring sit-in.

Really nice teacher, I learn how to become a better writer. The essays he assigns are kind of hard though. You really have to think a lot, other than he is a good teacher.

he's a very kind teacher, but he does give a heavy workload, he does not turn back many papers until after the semester which I don't like, because you don't know where you stand with the class. Other than that I liked him a lot and he's a very fair grader.

I love this professor! He really helps the class to critically analyze all of the material that is presented. I took him Fall 2011 and we did have about 7 books to read but he gives you time to read them, and after the readings he breaks each book down. P.S. most of the readings are short stories, and late work is accepted. Good Luck!

i honestly wish professor doucet taught every class i take- he's bright, engaging, EXTREMELY accomodating and helpful, and made this class one of the best i took at smc. i recommend the course not only to those with current interest in the subject, but anyone who appreciates the human condition and values the rarity of an outstanding educator

I have had very teachers i truly like and doucet is in the top 5. He makes the class session go by way faster than more teachers. He's more down to earth and relaxed with his lectures. I learned a lot in his class and he was able to make things about grammar more clear. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this class, Doucet is a cool cat who really knows A LOT. The class was a bit politically charged for my taste so prepare for some pretty heavy social/political discussion topics, and at times I wished the in-class lectures focused more on MLA format stuff but I'm not complaining, it's a great class with a great professor.

Love Doucet! His Eng 1 class was fantastic. He placed emphasis on social issues. He also challenges his students beliefs, but does not have a self-righteous attitude. I do wish he was better organized and followed the syllabus more often. Nonetheless, Doucet is a great person and professor. Also a fair grader (sometime, too fair.)

Basically, as along as you do the work, you're guaranteed an A. You'll do 6 essays, 1 midterm, a 12 page research paper, and a final. It is a lot but it's Eng1. Aside from that, he really gets you to think about life in new ways and the short stories and novel he picked out were great. Great class discussions too. I would take the class again!

Professor Doucet is AMAZING! I have always enjoyed English courses but he made me fall in love with it even more. I think my favorite thing about his class was the opportunity to write essays on subjects that really interested me! There is no textbook, he provides most of the readings and theres 1 or 2 books you have to read. TAKE HIM :)

Doucet allows the students to question the society they are brought up in. He assigns reading, and yes, some of it is long and tiresome, but all of it is interesting. He grades fairly, encourages all beliefs, and loves to teach. He is an intellectual and an excellent Proffesor. I would take him again and recommend him to anyone.

Although the course is pretty basic, Doucet really engages students in his class. His lectures are so fascinating and provide lots of historical context. The assigned readings are great. He is a chill guy and makes sure that everyone in the class will pass. Doucet loves switching things up with group projects and quizzes, but everything is easy.

I took ENG1 with doucet in fall and it was ok. His semester was pretty disorganized (He said he was trying new stuff). Overall it was a good class, he gives a lot of reading journals and essays. I would have had a better time (since he is a nice teacher) but the reading material was quite boring.

Even though the workload is heavy, he still provides flexibility to the class and gives you the best grade possible. Highly suggest taking him.

I have taken this professor for two separate classes and hope to take him again for a third. Professor Doucet is a wonderful teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He will make sure to help you in any way he can as long as you pull your weight. You must buy the reader and actually read the readings, but they are actually enjoyable.

Super kind professor, every lecture was interesting and had good discussions. Chose very interesting books for the class. I usually hate reading but the books he chose were super engaging. Quizzes aren't hard if you read the books, essays are graded on completion, midterm/final are in class graded essays that are very doable as well.

Very fun and light class. We had plenty of fun class discussions and he always prompts interesting questions and ideas. Just by hearing him talk you can tell he's very respectful and knowledgeable. Only downside was he grades everything after the semester ends and he gives a lot of work for a 3 unit class.
