She is an awesome professor! She explains topics very well, and gives in depth reviews before the exams. If you study... easy A!
Greene-Johnson is really passionate about what she teaches. Its kind of passive learning bc you just follow along in a handout she made, but its pretty reasonable.
this is not too hard, she teaches in a fun way
Wonderful class... she teaches from her own textbook/study guide, which is often easier to use than the actual text. Although she isn't on the campus 5 days a week, she is still easy to contact and regularly keeps the class updated through CourseConnect.
Her lecture guide is helpful and concise. She tells you what EVERY problem on the test will be. No surprises. Fun lectures(for the most part). Previous chem experience? This class will be a BREEZE for you. For everyone else, pay a little attnetion, ea
great.......easy tests...if you study the review really well
this prof is really nice and helpful, she relaly cares about her students
She is alright. One of the better chem teachers here. Just know this: You will not finish your tests! Once you take a few of her exams you should be alright, but don't be discouraged after the first one.
One of the most enjoyable professors I have had. Extremely knowledgeable in her field and demonstrates a passion for helping students succeed. Tests are hard pressed in terms of time, but fair. Great experience, highly recommended. Check out her (in)f
At first everything seems really hectic, and the tests are way too long. But she offers grade weighting that gives you a great chance of raising your grade. Review sheets are a huge help for the test
SHE has impossible tests, but her lectures are entertaining. also she is never on campus for outside help, which is needed by many
tests are impossible to finish, but she tells u exactly wuts on it. worth taking i guess. shes funny sometimes too
Tests are impossibly hard, and her curve only helps a bit. She's never available for help, and doesn't communicate enough w/ the profs who teach the discussion sections, so the sections often ended up confusing us more, not less.
she is a very nice person but her tests are impossible. her finals tend to be a lot easier though. all in all she's good by default (no one else really teaches this class).
she doesn't know how to teach! her tests are not fair for the way she lectures. she is generally nice and funny, but seriously, don't take her class.
A disgrace to the tradition of Jesuit education, Dr. Greene-Johnson teaches ONLY from her own 'packet'. Her lectures comprise of her walking into class and simply flipping through page after page in her 101-Manual. She races through the material.
She's a great person but does not know how to teach or give tests......
she was teh best teacher for chem 101 and 102, her class was designed to be difficult, but you learn so much about chemistry! i became a chem major because of her!!! too bad she left the department! we will miss her greatly!!
She is the greatest. I couldn't of took chemistry and got through it without her. She makes the material come alive.
Currently doesn't teach chem. Physics by trade. Chem 101 was all right. Got an A. 102 was challenging. Got a D. Had her for discussion for 101 so that helped a bit but she had 6 sections. Scuttlebutt says she's challenging in Physics too.
I thought her class was fair. Her tests are fair, nothing that wouldn't be expected.... and very straight forward, liket he homework. I have taken much worse.....much much worse
good lectures, final is not bad, and the tests are the same level as anybody elses, and to my opinion a lot more straight forward.not an impossible class, just takes work
can be hard to reach, student must study independently, but there's not suprised. Lower grading scale, 86 is an A, so there's some room...tests are fair, must know the material well to finish on time
Facts: When she gave tests she made at least two to three corrections during the test. Very disorganized and somewhat unclear. Tests were ok but on one test class average was 54%. Compared to Boyd she is much worse.
an expert in teaching - fun, enjoyable, and intelligent
She's a great teacher, although somewhat disorganized. Very clear what she wants on test, and really easy, although sometimes throws in surprises.
She is also a chem professor and she is terrible in both subjects. Do not take her no matter what she teaches, I guarantee you wont be able to get a good grade in her class unless you're already a professor in Chemistry and/or Physics.

Enjoyable classes. She's very devoted and organized. Grading scales are fair. To do good in tests, you must really know well about the subjects.
very unclear and she seems not to care too much about the class and students
I must be completely honest, it took me forever to understand her concepts, but once I did, it was easy. Even if you do horrible on every test, the final can get you an A in the class. Watch out for the little hints that she drops about the test questions
great person. awesome grader, to fail her physics class you would have to be a retard. I cant say she is a good teacher, she is actually pretty disorganized and confussing, but she tells you whats gonna be on every single test.
great prf: fun, cool, intel. enjoyed goin 2 clss. ya she makes corrections during tests, but remmbr she's the 1 correctin ur tests- & there she's v. kind & generous. phys isn't easy, but do the rev b4 tests & do well! dr. GJ ur the boom! awesome
She is so awesome.Tests are just like the study guide and get to know her outside of class very friendly and willing to help in any way she can you still have to know your stuff though I loved her highly recommended
she is wacky but fun! i love her and she is a very good prof... she made me really appreciate and enjoy chemistry...she is the teacher who guided me to change my major to chemistry, thank you GJ ( :
Awful teacher. Never has anything together. Loses her mind on a constant basis. Very unreliable. Picks favorites and won't give you the grade you deserve. She screwed up grading many of my exams and went incognito everytime someone tried go to her office.
I took dr greene johnson for chemistry both semesters. I really loved the way she taught, she may have been disorganized, but she managed to pull it together at the end. I learned so much from this woman, my only regret was that i didnt have her for physi
best gen chem teacher there is, im a chem major, so believe me!!! the other ones are much harder than her! plus, she is the best and will give you a clear representation of chemistry!
Wacky, at times confusing, but can be reasonable grader. Understands her test take every minute so she is pretty understanding. Bad at math so always check your work.
Chem is prolly my WORST subject and boring as heck, but WGJ makes chem somewhat intersting. She's got tons of energy. Tries to be a water molecule someimes. She's funny, tells good stories, but tests aren't easy. Every second counts! If you need help, shes more than willing to set something up.
she's so nice, and a good fair teacher. If you have to take chem or physics, face it, its not going to be fun and it's hard to get a good teacher. she's great, makes it about as interesting as you can.i recommend!
Superior Teacher. The key is to go into her OFFICE HOURS! 1 of 3 best teachers at Loyola. Extremely smart, fair, and considerate. Not easy, but if you study hard, you will be fine. Do not be fooled; she is the best chemistry teacher ever!
GJ is awesome. She is a fair grader and makes sure the entire class understands a concept before moving on. She does like to surprise you on exams though...the final was nothing like she said it would be!
Great teacher..fun and crazy at times but worth it...she sincerely cares about her students' success and will help you out..tests take every minute but if you work through them not too difficult.
test are IMPOSSIBLE.. she has mystery problems... she has great personality.. however.. .her test are disheartening
GJ is a really nice teacher...the tests are really time intensive...but she is a great person!!!!!!!!!!
luv her
VERY nice person, but not a great professor. Goes through the material way too fast. Doing book problems and study guides is useless. Hope you know your chemistry very well because you won't learn it in this class. Tests are very hard and very long!
Dr. GJ has a great personality, but she gets off track a little bit. She is fair with grading. Try to get her to write on the chalkboard in Chem or Phys classes, because it is easier to understand her.
WGJ is an awesome person, a bit wacky at times, but she truly cares about her students. Her tests are extremely difficult, but she does everything she can to give you every little point. i got a B both semesters, didnt open the book and could have done better had i studied more.
dr. greene-johnson is totally brilliant! she is always willing to explain things again and again if students are confused. she truly wants her students to succeed. she will help you by telling you what the focus of the exam will be, which is excellent in guiding your studying. don't slack though, tests are still tough & you need to study for an A.
she is an awesome teacher and does care about the students... but she flys through the material which itsnt as easy as theology. Tests are very long and not the same as the examples in class. :/ i would take her again but only for a comedy- she is very funny to listen to
she is the most brilliant teacher at loyola. she's funny, interesting, so very intelligent, exciting and caring all in one. THE WOMAN IS FLAWLESS. her tests are so hard, but you don't care -- you are learning so much the whole time that it's all worth it. she's also super fashionable! she's always put together and perfect. LOVE HER.
u must take her for chem. she is by far the best and i look forward to her class everyday! i find her class pretty easy. just study her lecture notes and practice examples and you will be more then fine. she is willing to help and its nice that she gives practice probs right before the test so u dont need the book
this lady is HARd. she does give you alot of info about the exam but it still kicks your ass. she is very very nice and helpful not to mention funny but i just dont know if i would take her again. unless for entertainment.
Definitely overestimates her students! She thinks we are all genius level like her. Tests are brutal, hope you have great math background. Tests are nothing like the book or the review! Won't take again.....
Gives review that is not like the exams. You waste your time and do terrible on the tests. She is a nice woman, she is just confusing and gives very hard tests that you are not prepared for. Don't take if you want an A.
Dr. wGJ is a very smart and well-rounded lady. Material she teaches is very complex and she does not have the time to properly explain it to dumb "COLLEGE" students. She gives a review that is nothing like the REAL TEST. Last test, everyone in the class suffered because of that. I'd rather take Udo if that's the case.
best teacher at loyola hands down... she explains things well and will work with u if u need help. she is awesome and def best teacher.
heard she was the best teacher for physic at loyola just posting physic slot for her since she teaches both physic and chemistry.
overall great prof. stress brought upon myself for not reading book, purchase her notes book is necessary; 3 tests and final, will drp low tst for final. Gives easy sounding review b4 test, but know the material or suffer consequences. Not overly difficult if u have good grounding in chem from high school -- which i did not have. I recommend.
She is a great teacher. It doesn't get much better than her for physics. She is sometimes hard to get a hold of for help but still good. Oh yeah, possible surprises on exams.
wonderful professor! very energetic during class. goes through material fast, but will slow down if needed! explains things very well in discussion, and is very accomodating to the needs of her students! i would highly reccomend this spectacular woman!
She is the best physics teacher. Very easy thus far and explains everything so much that the pace is almost too slow...but who cares...plus theres not much better in that physics department...nice lady and easy
Took her for both general chem sections. Very good teacher, explains everything in detail, upfront grading and her reviews are very much like the exam. One of the best teachers on campus
Amazing and brilliant person but bad teacher. I can't speak for chemistry but at physics she isn't very good. First semester is a breeze if you know in advance what she is talking about. Never opened the book. Second sem. she is much more scatter-minded and teaches only certain things instead of giving the big picture. Not recommended for second se
Very good professor. The best chemistry teacher in her department from what I've heard. She is smart and a very charismatic woman. Her chemistry class is very easy, but if you do not at least look over your notes or do some of the optional chapter problems you might find the tests harder than they really are. Great teacher!! Highly recommend her!!!
i loved her....not cuz she was easy....as the misconception goes, but rather because of the interest she displays in the topic. Never used my book once, and still got an A- !
This lady is NOT easy. You still have to work in her class....tests are long and hard. However, she is really into teaching and entertaining...so it makes class much better. STUDY alot for this class and you will pull off an A.
She's a really fun/entertaining teacher. She is deffinetly not easy, but it's not impossible to get a A in her class. Deffinetly need to study her lecture and know her review guides in and out! If it means anything, i'm retaking her for chem 102...
lectures are clear and she answers questions. she goes slowly during lecture, which is good. her tests are what gets you. she throws in crazy surprises which are nothing you've covered in class; even one on the final! she has to give hints and extra time for every test. you don't use the book and her q's aren't like the book ones, so no help there.
Dr. gJ is a great professor, but don't let the helpfulness fool you. Her tests are long and require non stop calculations. Learn quickly to use your calculator efficiently. If you have problems go to her immediately and ask her advise. She has very little time outside of class.
Very hard tests. The avg on the 1st and 2nd test was D. What does it tell you. Do not take her. Basically you have to teach yourself from the book.
the most intelligent person i've ever met in my life.. she makes learning fun and the only reason you'll do bad in her class is if you're lazy, don't pay attention, and don't come to class... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!
got an A.class avg of exams 1&2> c.as long as you go to class at least 2 of 3 times a wk + go over the study guides right b4 the exam,u are good to go.If u cant do the problems in the study guide, then u know u are screwd for sure.66% of her tests are mc.10% of grade is disc attend.nvr looked at the book, just read the "handout" book.best chem prof
Wow.Ok I realize that lots of people like her, but did you really learn anything? people say she tries to do too many things-okay that's great but her teaching definitely suffers because of it. how so? 1)many mistakes on tests/packets 2)no demonstrations in class- all on board3)makes physics "plug and do" instead of interesting.Take Ramsey instead!
as awesum as can be! best physics professor! exams r easy!
Yes, she's nice, and probably one of the easier professors, but her lectures are full of mistakes. Some tests don't have the correct answer for multiple choice. It sucks when you spend 1/2 a page working on a problem and the correct answer isn't there! Doesn't use the book. Instead uses handouts which often have mistakes.
Definitely the easiest professor in the department. She basically turns Physics into basic plug-n-chug algebra problems. While this isnt a guaranteed easy A, you certianly have a MUCH better chance getting it with her. Sure, you don't learn much in the long-run, but I'll take the A (and GPA boost) now & really learn it for the MCAT later. Take her!
She really does have a skill for being able to bring Chemistry to the student; you're still going to have to work to learn the material, but she will help, and she doesn't want you to fail, which is nice. A great lady and teacher, take her! (P.S. From what I hear, she's about the only CHEM 101 professor that is worth taking).
Coming into this class I found this teacher to be very nice and kept the class interesting during lecture....though when it came for test time, I felt she gave way too many problems to compute in only 50 minutes. I would not recommend this class if you have any kind of math anxiety under a time constraint because you will not finish the test.
She's fun and exciting, but there are only 3 grades plus 10% for discussion which pretty much killed me. Do the problems and make sure you know how to do them. Otherwise you are screwed. She also seems kind of unapproachable because she's always running off to her next class
greene-johnson makes physics easy! most of the exam is plug and chug stuff, and you don't have to keep up with the hw as long as you do the review packet right before the test. i didn't really learn too much conceptual physics, but i was happy with the easy A i got at the end of the semester. take her if you want a gpa boost!
I don't understand the "following" this professor has. She has been one of the WORST professors I've ever had. Yeah she cares about her students, but she's taught me NOTHING. Everything I learned I learned on my own time - lectures were absolutely USELESS!!!
Great Professor. Really wants students to learn. Really enthusiastic.
Awesome! Not a plug and chug class. She makes sure you know what you're doing. Don't expect to skate through, but she does meet you halfway! Highly recommend.
She is very scatter brained which got on my last nerve. She is not very organized. She made her tests too long so students were always scrambling to finish. I felt like I didn't really learn anything in this class. Great person, however, as a teahcer I was not fond of her.
She's brilliant and that seems to get in the way. If you can get your brain to think like hers, you're set. Fantastically helpful and really loves what she does. If you TRY to do problems on exams, you'll get some credit. Much better than the all or nothing style of the rest of the chem dept. If you WORK HARD, it will pay off.
Easy, I got an A+ on the first test.
She has a great personality and knows a lot. I took her both for physics and chem but her tests always seemed impossible to complete because the lack of sufficient time. I had an A but had to work HARD to get it.
WGJ teaches a fun class, but it stressed me out. The tests are brutal and I barely finished them. She livens up a dull subject with her personality and is helpful when you can find her in office hours. If you blow a test, you can drop one and make the final worth 50%. I got a C and a D on my first two tests and still left the class with an A-
DON'T BUY THE BOOK!!! I NEVER OPENED IT ONCE AND THE BOOKSTORE DOESN'T BUY IT BACK....even though it says Loyola on it. But anyway...Willetta is awesome. Best Chemistry class ever. Pay attention and listen to examples in class. Tells you problems on all tests...couldn't be easier.
Best chemistry professor to take for 101/102. Makes chemistry interesting and easy. Tells you questions on the test the class before the test. Final is just like the tests during the semester. You will have to study, but an A is very possible.
You can get a good grade AND learn a lot with this professor! She's hilarious, quirky, and pretty out there though- but for some, maybe too out there. Don't need the textbook- she wrote her own workbook that you'll have to buy.
It is highly recommended that you took an AP chem class in high school, because she covers more advance material. Tests are very long and difficult. If you are a premed, then avoid!
Save your GPA!! Has killer exams. HW takes hours. Test are really challenging.
Exams are extremely difficult and really long. The course assumes you have a solid foundation of chemistry.
I agree with all the CHEMS she has gotten ridiculously hard this semester for physics, easy D, almost nobody has an A, join if you want your GPA to crash
Whoever has been posting these negative comments is an id*ot. Look at the dates and compare them with the ones on Prof. Cunningham's profile and see that they've been tryign to drop the ratings so that people don't sign up for them. Cute.
Decent teacher but she tells you every problem that will be on the test ..go to class and read the book and you'll get an A ...all chem is hard she is the easiest
She is an AWESOME Chem professor! Really easy, goes over every problem on the test beforehand. You don't need the book, I didn't open it all semester and still aced the class. She's really entertaining, and you still learn a lot. If you can, take her!
I love love love WGJ with all of my heart! She's a livewire. I have her for CHEM 102 as well. She can be tough, but she's fair.
She is AMAZING. Her tests can be a bit difficult because of the time constraint, but just READ THEM CAREFULLY. She has a tendency to pick problems that take several steps to solve. Her first test is hardest, second is a little easier, third is easiest. She will drop one test if you did bad on it, and two lowest discussion grades are dropped
TAKE HER!!!
She is probably the most clear and interesting professor at loyola. Although her random outburts in class can be odd she makes the class fun and keeps you awake. She has her own textbook that is clearer then the chem. book required by the school. Tests are okay but can be very easy if you do the reviews that she posts online. Overall, easy class!
Amazing! She teaches out of a book that she wrote and the problems that she is going to ask on tests mirror those concepts. Not only that but she tells you the main problems on the exams! And she's hilarious!
Honestly, the reciew she posts for tests is what makes the class fair..Alot of these concepts didnt come full circle untill her review.. TAKE..Put the time in..A
WGJ was my favorite professor. No other teacher at LUC cares about the success of her students the way she does. Go to class, take decent notes, go to discussion and ABSOLUTELY do her packets - an A is possible in any class she teaches.
One of the best science professors I have ever had. She is hilarious, and students are always laughing in my class-which is rare for a chem class. Stay on track with the book problems, and know the review. She tells you exactly what is on the test so your grade is in your hands.
Nice professor although highly unorganized. The review packets that you are to learn from have numerous errors, which doesn't help you on exams. Exams and final are time intensive, and may contain questions you have not seen previously. Exams at times do have errors. Teacher is unreachable most of the time, but is helpful when you can catch her.
I love Willetta with all of my heart. I had her for Chem 101 and 102, and I never opened my textbook. She has you buy a guided notebook from an online publisher for about $25, and it's all that's really necessary for her tests. A lot of people complain about her tests, but if you don't have issues with time management, it's no big deal.
Ok, this woman is amazing. She teaches you out of a handbook which she wrote instead of using the stupid wordy chem textbook. She was a CEO in some pharmaceutical company and now she is a maestro n teaches as a side thing. She won a grammy btw. She gives you a crib sheet for each test, which all you need to do is study her reviews and u get an A!!
Willetta is fabulous. She is uplifting and spontaneous. She makes chemistry fairly easy to understand and offers extra credit on every test!
At first I thought she was extremely nice and helpful but towards the end of a semester she got that ego. She would call us leeches and when someone asked her for help she would tell them to go away. I would not take her again.
an A is definitely possible with green-johnson. I barely used my book, very few surprises on tests, and while I may not know the concepts of physics, i don't regret taking her at ALL. highly recommend!
She is awesome, take her for chem.
She was fabulous. Teaches out of a workbook she put together herself, never needed the expensive textbook. Gave awesome review packets & crib sheets which told you exactly what to study. Dropped test questions she thought weren't fair based on student performance. Would certainly recommend...get in early, her class is sure to fill up.
She is extremely nice! Likes to use ebonics to keep things interesting. However, she is very scattered and disorganized. All exams are from notes. She puts up her lecture notes. Do not need book.
Dr Greene-Johnson is a superb teacher!!! I have never had someone have such a strong knowledge base. She is unorganized and quirky, but that adds to the fun of her class. Her review sessions and note packets are amazing!! I just wished she taught physics when I was at Loyola. One of the most intelligent women i know..
WGJ is a character. If you want an easy, entertaining professor, take her. However, she is sloppy/disorganized and makes mistakes, even on exams. Overall, it was a fun class, but I think I could have learned more with another professor.
Take her! She will make you work, but you will not get bored in her class:) Makes her classes fun! Buy the book with her lectures-very useful! Do exam review problems(even time yourself), if you want to get a good grade. Exams are fast paced and challenging, but if you work hard you can get an A with her! Always looks nice and feminine :)
Wonderful and amazing for physics! Her exams are similar to the practice problems she gives you in class, so you are very prepared going into exam-mode. She's very helpful, genuine, and nice. The physics book is not needed. Exams are 90% of your grade.
Awesome lady just to start. Was willing to help me with any and all questions I had about her class. Not necessarily the easiest subject but she made lectures fun and made clear all subject matter. Anyone who says different either slept through the class or refused to participate. She will lend a helping hand where it is needed. Awesome lady.
This professor wants every student to do well. She really tries her best to get the material across to each student in a way that individual will understand it best. She is very helpful during office hours when you're able to reach her. An A is definitely possible. I HIGHLY recommend WGJ. Taking chem with any other professor is a bad decision.
Very nice teacher that wants you to do well, but she can be confusing at times. If you want to get an "A" take her, but if you want to actually understand the material, don't take her. She wants everyone to do well, but sometimes she is quite unorganized and confusing. Gives study guides for test, and fairly easy to do well on tests.
She can be a bit scattered and lectures can get a bit boring, but she really wants you to do well and almost babies her class so that everyone has a chance to get a good grade. If you go through her workbook and do her review exercises, tests are easy. She basically tells you what will be on them, and does a ton of examples.
Fantastic professor! Her excitement and passion for the subject made even the driest topics interesting. She's so kind and helpful if you approach her. She tells everyone exactly what will be asked on exams so there are never any surprises. She also gives extra credit. No need to buy the book because her packet includes everything you need.
I thought she was an AMAZING teacher. I hated chem and did terribly in high school, but I really did learn a lot in her class. I would highly recommend taking her if you can. She can be unorganized at times, but that just adds to her quirkiness.
As a postbac, I think Loyola owes me a refund and apology note. The tests are long and impossible with low averages and in lecture its a mystery where the numbers are coming from. Exams are much harder than the few examples done in class. Makes a lot of mistakes and has to be corrected often. Don't believe those outdated reviews.
Dr. GJ is fantastic! Lectures are always fun because of her energy level and excitement. She is so sweet and helpful and will work with you so you succeed. The lecture packet she created for the class is great (although it does contain many typos). Her exams are a time crunch, but there's no reason you can't do well if you put in the work.
Quirky professor who knows her material. Only need to buy her textbook & follow along in lectures. She can be all over the place but she is approachable if you need clarification or need to ask questions. If you go through the practice problems for each exam multiple times, the tests are doable. She wants her students to do well.
I took this class over the summer. I must say she is the greatest teacher I ever had. Extremely easy and willing to help you for anything. Only teacher I know for chemistry that gave a non cumulative final. Take her, in the school year or in the summer!!!!
Best Chemistry teacher I have had at Loyola. I am now a Junior bio major and looking back she was the best. Always laid out a helping hand whenever I asked. Learned the same things as every other Chem class but she could simplify it very well. Highly recommended. Top 3 if not the top teacher I have had here.
Willetta is fabulous. Seriously, I would take any class she taught just to be able to experience her quirkiness again. Her thoughts can be a bit jumbled, but she's absolutely brilliant, always soo helpful, caring, and is great at remembering names! BUT if you want a good grade, STUDY THE REVIEWS. Not kidding. If you get them, you'll ace the exams.
Perfection, in every way. Wrote her own textbook AND a Grammy-winning track. She really cares for students, and her lectures are crystal clear (with a beautiful voice). Tests are challenging but straightforward if you listen in class. It is possible to receive an A without taking any notes, as long as you understand the concepts.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is a gem. She truly cares for her students and it shows. I would absolutely recommend her as she knows what she's doing AND she has a heart of gold! My fav professor at Loyola!
I took her over the summer. Super nice lady, very clear. Tests can be tricky, but overall amazing teacher. You actually learn chemistry. Would take her again! Always willing to help you! Likes to give partial credit or pity points if she accidentally messes up test wordings and such
Dr. Greene-Johnson is a great professor! She made her own textbook and goes by that. She does mess up her wording a bit in her textbook and exams but point it out and she will clarify. Overall, do all the practice problems listed, memorize what she tells you to memorize, and attend discussionoffice hours and you will get an A.
Very thorough, just drills the stuff into your head. Adds in jokes too, so a good mix of stuff in a professor. She even has her own version of the textbook, so no real need to buy the textbook or mastering chem
If youre going into premed/ predental I do not recommend her because she will not teach you anything. Sure you will get an easy A- but you need to realize that you need to learn to do well on post graduate tests like MCAT and DAT so I actually do not recommend I recommend Pine or NaleWay.
I had her for physics and she's extremely scatter brained which is why her lectures aren't very clear. I worked so hard for this class and I don't think it was reflected in my grade. Her exams aren't the easiest either with MC questions that are all or nothing as well as hand written problems. She is very sweet but she's not available to help much.
She's a great professor! Lectures are fun and very clear. Her class is easy, just show up to her lectures and discussions. She gives study guides which will prepare you for her exams 100 %!! Amazing lady!
easy class but she is very disorganized
She's really unorganized. Take any other professor.
dont take her she is so unorganized and emails you at 3 in the morning -,-
Willetta is an amazing professor. Shes so funny, her personality alone will help you remember things from lecture. Gives points just for showing to discussion. Tells you exactly what you need to know. I found her to be very organized, contrary to other reviews. Very helpful. Definitely take.
WGJ is the best chem professor for 101 and 102. She is really easy compared to the other professors but yes she is disorganized. It was a pleasure to have her for a teacher though because she is very engaged and wants you to succeed.
I went to Northwestern for college and am attending Loyola for a post-bacc in premed. NU's chem department is world renowned, but very few professors there are good teachers. She knows how to scaffold her material well so that each module builds on the previous one. Study her material and you will do well; don't study and you will fail. Simple.
wGj (as she likes to call herself) is incredibly smart, although she may not explain things very clearly. Not the best teacher, but her tests are relatively easy as she gives you a study guide before each one - if you do that and know it well, you'll do great in her class.
Love Her!!!!
Lectures aren't helpful at all, only grades are discussions and tests. Tests are tough, but she gives a review guide which helps. Not an easy class, didn't learn much, have to work really hard for a good grade. Don't buy the textbook you wont use it, she uses her own workbook instead
What an AMAZING professor. Chem has been such a weakness for me, but she brought so much sense to it. She is definitely the best gen chem professor. You don't need the text book, but buy her workbook because man it makes lectures so much easier to follow. Discussions are mandatory, but they help a lot (on what will be on the test) She is amazing.
TAKE HER!! She is so amazing. I've never understood chem until this class. She gives detailed study guides and Exam formats of exactly what types of and how many questions will be on test. Its a hard class, but if you study she is easy. Plus on handwritten exam questions, she grades the process, the actual right answer is only worth 1-2 points.
Dr. Green-Johnson is literally the best professor I've ever had in my whole life. I never understood Chemistry before taking CHEM 102 with her. She gives very detailed study guides that help so much on the test. As long as you take the time to work through problems and pay attention in lecture, you'll do great. I highly recommend her!
She is very forgiving, and tends to have a sympathetic understanding for the complexity of her material. If you need help, she's there for you. And she's brilliant.
I took Greene-Johnson for chemistry and she was fabulous, so I thought taking her was the only way for physics. I did struggle at the beginning for her physics since she is very unorganized (received final review for an exam the night before the exam around midnight...) but if you work for it you will be rewarded. Her reviews and extra credit helpe
I loved this teacher! She is by far the best I have had in my college career. She writes her own text book that is very clear and easy to follow. On top of that she gives a VERY thorough and well explained review before tests. If you go through the review and understand what is on it you will be fine. The lowest grade I got was a 98.
Super good teacher and a genius. She makes tests so students will pass and not fail.
WGJ was the worst physics experience I ever had. Her lectures are all over the place and she is very unorganized. Her lectures are terrible and exams are not hard. She's easy for chem but not physics. Stay away. I was so frustrated studying for her exams because her book is not helpful and her review is not organized and is hard to understand.
I choose wgj after reading reviews on rate my professor and now am wishing that I made a different choice. She is helpful in discussions but unless she is going over worksheets in lecture, she is unorganized and unclear. Her exams are either ridiculously easy, or hard. The class average for exam 1 spring semester was a 60%.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is a hilarious woman who goes off on tangents that are needed for her long lectures. Overall she is a very smart and educational professor who goes over the course material very well. Her exams seem to push your knowledge a little bit but if you go over her study guide and pay attention in class you can do really well.
Willetta is sweet, but she is so disorganized. Her lectures hit the same topics multiple times, but don't quite explain the concepts clearly. She often has to lecture in discussion because she has forgotten to prepare us to answer those questions. She really does care about her students, however, and a good grade is not hard to get.
I had little background in chemistry going into the class but the way she explains concepts was very helpful Her exams do challenge you (very long and dense) but she does prepare you for tests more than other teachers do Her grading you can get a good grade if you work hard and you end up actually learning Shes enthusiastic, brilliant, and caring
I took Willetta in the summer which I would not recommend to anyone. The class was so fast pace and she is all over the place. Any summer class is fast pace to begin with, but her's is extremely difficult and there is an exam a week. The only grades going in the grade book are exams. If you do not have a strong background in chem don't take her!
She makes an effort to be nice and courteous. Her summer program is intense and a bit absurd because she gives no time to study for the exams. She leaves the hardest concepts for the day before the exam and does a poor job of explaining the methods behind them. Questions? she is basically unreachable via email, her office hours are non-existent.
I took her over the summer and I can say I honestly loved her class so much. I was failing at first but when I went to office hours she helped me soooo much. I ended up with an A- in her class but clearly you have to work for a good grade no matter who you take. She's compassionate and wants all her students to do well. I highly recommend her.
Overall a pretty good prof. She never assigned homework and 95% of your grade depends on your exam scores. Her exams are all calculation-based, no conceptual questions whatsoever. If you pay attention in class and have a good grasp of algebra you'll be just fine.
She is a great professor, knowledgeable, and takes her time to explain things. She wrote her own textbook for Chemistry 102 and provides helpful study guides. Studying all the problems in the study guide will help you pass the exams.
Do not take this class! Her test are extremely long w/ very limited time. Discussion are mandatory since it's part of your grade. She's unorganized and her lecture are very confusing since she skip around a lot.
NOT ENOUGH TIME. NO HALF CREDIT. Office hours are always packed. You have to go to discussions. Homework is a lot and time consuming, if you want at least a C. If you really want to pass, go to tutoring and sit in the front. Really pay attention, this should be a 300 level. If you can't pass, then you should rethink your major and studying skills.
This is my third class with Dr. WGJ (Took her for CHEM101/102), and I would totally take her again. Greene-Johnson truly cares about her students and only wants the best for them. She gives a ton of examples in class so you feel prepared for her review guides and exams. Additionally, asking questions during exams is a must, she guides you to answer
ok my chem lab professor switched so many times so idk if she was actually my teacher but she came in art the end of the year and shell answer any question you have and explain it, I did better in my chem101 class bc of things she explained to me. Chem 111 is an easy grade as long as you come prepares and ask questions! Take her!!!
WGJ is an awesome teacher, very in touch with how students feel and changes tests/teaching style based on it. Only thing that sucks is half the tests are multiple choice and not graded based on work, so you can do most of it correctly and still lose full points for a question, however, on long answer questions shes very generous with partial credit
She is absolutely amazing! I want to take her for every class. She explains everything thoroughly and makes classes easy to follow. Discussion problems and text problems are offered to keep you on track. She is fantastic, and she has such an amazing personality/background! Take her!!
Willetta is the best chem teacher at Loyola!! Her lectures and exams are calculation heavy, but she explains step by step how to do it. Only downside is that you need to buy her lecture notes- don't buy a textbook. She is kind and knows exactly what she is talking about. Also sends fun emails with bitmojis!
Absolutely fantastic. She genuinely cares about her students and tries hard to make sure everone is absorbing the material. Shes very approachable, very helpful, and organized the class in such a way that you get a lot of practice for the exams which werent too bad. Gives a nice review packet for each exam thats very helpful. Definitely take
Shes pretty cool and caring BUT only 3 exams all of which are long and take up the entire class. There is no time to check your work or get stumped on anything. No quizzes but discussion counts for 10% so show up. She has her own book that has all her lecture notes but she just reads off it in class. Can drop an exam but then the final is 50%.
The nicest teacher I had freshman year. Her tests are very difficult, but she does a great job of preparing you if you put in the work. She gives out study guides which are a must to pass the exams. Lectures are almost not needed at all. Everything you need for the test is learned in discussion. Only 3 exams but can drop one to make final 50%.
Great human being, hilarious, extremely intelligent, caring BUT a very bad teacher unfortunately. I will be honest, she puts effort in class but her lectures, she rambles... I taught myself everything by doing lecture problems, discussion problems, and exam reviews. I'd rather take a difficult professor from whom I will actually learn physics.
She's a wonderful lady; she's super funny and really sweet and cares about her students. She has her own book full of lecture notes but she reads off it in class. Show up to discussion because most of them are just attendance based. Can drop an exam but then your final is worth 50% of your grade.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is a super sweet lady and wants her students to succeed. However, there are only 3 tests and the final so you have to do well on all the exams to do well in the class. Discussion is worth 10% so that helps balance out the exams a little. She gives review guides but lectures are sometimes rushed and disorganized.
Great Chem professor! She gives great exam reviews. Defiantly one of my harder classes especially because discussions are mandatory attendance and 10% of grade but tests are 90%. I've also taken Osner, both are great, I prefer her because Osner doesn't give as many practice problems. Test format is 14-ish MC and 2 hand written with 2 EC Questions.
Not only has she won a Grammy, but Dr. Greene-Johnson knows Gen Chem like the back of her hand. She has you buy her workbook and reads directly from that in lecture, so you don't have to take notes on everything. There are comprehensive study guides for each exam and she is more than happy to help outside of class. You will not regret taking her!
No professor will ever care about you as much as she does. I noticed that other reviews complain that your grade is mostly based on exams. She gives you a document complete with practice problems stating exactly will be on the test, so it's not her fault if you don't study properly. Only the second test felt a bit rushed, the others were perfect.
simply amazing. Dr. Greene-Johnson is brilliant, funny, and inspiring. If you have the opportunity to take her do not pass it up. you will not just learn chemistry, she emphasizes the value of hard work, integrity and the importance of laughing along the way. tests are not easy but they are fair. Its college chem, dont expect to be handed an A.
She's a gem! She makes chemistry easy. Her teaching is straightforward, and so are her exams besides a bit of a curveball here and there. There's extra credit on the exams! She wrote her own TB and teaches off of it- it has great example programs and explains concepts thoroughly. She also provides a test breakdown and HUGE study guides for exams.
She's the best professor you can take for Chem 101 at Loyola!! Her lecture notebook makes taking notes really easy and helps u actually learn in class. Her discussion sheets and review packets are very similar style to the exams, so if you all of them it's an easy A!! WGJ makes Chem 101 enjoyable because you actually learn chemistry.
Very funny and caring professor! Her lectures can be scattered, but she prepares you well for tests. She gives study guides, and doesn't assign any mandatory homework. Her tests are fairly easy and straightforward, but the final was slightly more difficult. Grades discussion worksheets, but she helps and you work in groups.
She is very nice and very helpful. But her teaching style is confusing. Her notes are posted online but they are so long and not really helpful. Must go to discussion. Her discussion handouts and reviews are the best way to study. Her exams are ok but the final is really hard and brought my grade down. Overall, she's not bad but not great either.
I've had Greene-Johnson for a couple of classes and she is mediocre at best. Her finals are super hard. One question is worth a lot and the exams are long given the 50 minutes. She's really friendly but her exams are sooo tough.
Definitely the best pick for CHEM 102! For each test she posts a study guide that tells you exactly what types of questions will be on the test and what practice problems you should do to prepare. Her exams are really straightforward. Your grade is made up of 3 tests and the final, plus discussion which is really just showing up to class.
Probably the best chemistry professor at Loyola! Only graded on 3 exams, the final, and discussions, which aren't too bad. Focus on her study guides and put in the effort, you'll do fine!
WGJ is such a sweetheart and really cares about her students' performance. She can be a bit all over the place during lectures and honestly the most I've learned is during her review sessions right before exams; somehow she explains the best then... but I'd recommend her bc she gives a lot of helpful info before exams to do decently/well on.
Shes awful for physics. She completely messed up on grading the final exams and her averages for the tests were about 58 and 62. I wish I had waited to take physics because she isnt even clear in lecture, you basically have to teach yourself. Worst professor I dont know why shes so hyped.
Taken during the summer session. I would spend a whole week studying for each friday exam and could never get an A on any exam. Each multiple choice is 8 points each, exams each 15% of your grade, final 35% and discussion 5% You need to be some sort of chem genius to even get a B. Avoid her.
Really wonderful women but not a great professor for summer session. Test every Friday for 6 weeks, and multiple choice questions worth around 7 points. No partial credit there so if you screw up three you're already getting a C. I know some kids did well, but if this is your first time taking college chemistry (like me) I wouldn't recommend her.
She's amazing with Chem101! Highly recommend her for it. Took class during summer and grades on 5 exams, 1 final. Can drop one of the exams. Plus discussion and attendance count too. She doesn't do masteringchem, which I think is great because it's a waste of time. She's always ready to help!
Willetta is by far my favorite professor. She really takes the time and effort to prepare her class for exams. She gives reviews that are extremely helpful and also gives exam strategy notes. If you're ever struggling with a concept, all you have to do is ask her to explain during disc or office hours and you'll get it right away.
Dr. WGJ has high expectations for her students & challenges them, but she teaches what u need to know for exams, gives u all neccessary materials to succeed (discussion sheets & review packets), & she really cares about her students' learning and success (she's available after class and during office hours). Best Proff at LUC hands-down! Must take!
This class is an easy A, but you won't learn anything. The test questions are identical to past discussion and review packet questions. Lectures are mind numbing and it seems like we go through 2 slides a day, but she randomly gives points for attendance so you need to go. Would choose someone else since there are better easy A profs for physics
Dr. Green-Johnson is an incredible women. She is extremely smart and her lectures reflect this. She lectures straight from a book she wrote and designed for this class, I only used this to study from and never opened my actual chem text book. Three test and a final that are 90% of your grade, so its test heavy but she prepares you for it.
WGJ is an angel Lectures are kinda all over the place but she truly cares about her students and gives you literally everything you need to succeed Review packets are the only way to get an A 100 on the first exam but then we went online and she made the tests v more difficult Overall easy class but big stress two days before the exam w review pkts
She was little help when we switched to online, posts no exam keys so you have no idea what you got wrong and you can't check your answers. Her lectures are dense w/ equations n info. It was hard teaching myself physics and your grade solely depends on discussions and exams. It just upsets me that she did little to help students when we went online
She is the best 102 teacher second semester. Literally is the easiest option. Take her and boost your GPA. She is super funny and understanding as well. She is the gem of the chemistry department.
Honestly one of the best profs I've ever had. I thought chem would be miserable but she somehow made it fun.
Took over the summer and online, if you don't do the homework and readings you will not pass.
Review packets!!! key to succeed. you probably won't learn a ton of conceptual physics but she knows we're all mostly pre-med and people just need this class as a pre-req. I learned pretty much everything in just the discussions and 2 days before the exams from the review packets and it worked out great! just make sure you take the time on them
Dr. Greene-Johnson's lectures are long, but very thorough and clearly understood. No quizzes in this class except extra credit ones. Exams are very lecture heavy and is all math based. She is a very nice, enthusiastic professor who wants you to succeed.
So shes not a bad teacher, but she gives you a test like every thirty seconds. By the time you finish one test, she gives you the date for the next. Just know that!
Shes the most uncaring teacher ever. Doesn't believe students are people, but rather robots with no real health or feelings.
She is lovely, cares so much for her students, cracks jokes during discussions when everyone is stressed, and knows both the material and how to teach it so we understand it very well! Her discussions and tests are both very manageable to get Bs or above and she is also patient, never condescending with student's questions. Take her!
I really enjoyed taking CHEM 101 from Professor Greene-Johnson! She is absolutely hilarious and super nice. She's a pretty good professor and is the best professor to take for CHEM 101. She's super helpful and is willing to work with you if you are struggling. She's not great with technology (if you're taking it online), but it's not too bad.
Professor Greene-Johnson has been one of my favorite STEM professors. She is very funny, polite, and understanding. However, her exams are pretty difficult so don't expect to get perfect score. Additionally, she is far too smart to be teaching a gen chem course. Not going into detail seems to be her main downfall. Otherwise, a very agreeable prof.
Dr Greene Johnson is by far my favorite professor at Loyola. She made it clear that she deeply cared for her students. She allows you to drop an exam, doesnt assign much homework, but her lectures were pretty dense. She tells you exactly what you need to know on exams so as long as you put the work in, youll do great!
I love Dr. Greene-Johnson. She deeply cares for her students and wants us all to succeed. Her class is 90% exams and 10% discussions. Her exams are very difficult and I always run out of time trying to finish them. You have to really know chemistry to get a solid A in this class. However, it is definitely doable to get a B
Mrs. Greene-Johnson is awesome as an individual, however, to get a good grade on her exam seems really difficult. Even after studying so much for her exam, the time given just catches up to you. She has 4 exams and ends up dropping 1, discussions every week, and no homework assignments. Therefore, exams are everything in this class.
One of the kindest, most caring professors ever. She's always super enthusiastic and lectures are solid. Gives a generous amount of review material for exams, however, her exams are still extremely difficult with a short timer and all calculation based. Exams are worth 90% of your grade.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is an extremely smart and kind lady! If only this class was taught in person, I would have had an easier time with the material. The exams are worth most of your grade so make sure to pay attention and study for them. I def was hanging on by a thread in this class
I love WGJ!. She is so incredibly approachable and sweet. She will work with you one on one to help you understand material! She really wants all students to succeed. Go to office hours! Tests are hard but that's because it is chem 102. she will drop lowest exam and make final worth 50% IF it HELPS your grade. She brings so much enthusiasm to class
Amazing. This is the first chem class that I've actually enjoyed and understood well. The content is still difficult, but her study guides prepare you very well for exams. Lecture topics can be all over the place, but come exam time she is very clear about what is on each exam. Considerate of her students' time and cares about their success.
This class is very test-heavy so make sure everything is solid before the exam! WGJ is great though and is always willing to answer questions and encourage students. Her lectures are great and she makes chem fun. One of the best chem profs.
Greene is a hilarious teacher, but her lectures are very fast-paced. Her class is very very very test heavy there are like 4 grades in the grade book all from tests. Do not take green if you aren't willing to put in the work. Her discussions are also very difficult she will do easy problems in class then give very challenging ones in disscussion.
WGJ is a very nice and kind professor, but she uses her own book, which skips over some of the material and can be very confusing. Your grade is based completely off of exams, which can be very difficult. She goes so fast during lectures I can barely keep up sometimes, would not take again.
Your grade is based completely off of exams, and there are not opportunities to boost your grade if you screw up one exam.
OMG definitely take her! I took her this semester and I made a really good choice. There is no homework and participation points are given if you attend Discussion. She also explains the material really well and breaks down what is on every exam and tell you exactly what to review. I wish she taught other sections for chem 102.
I absolutely loved her!! She prepares you well with study guides and lets you know what will be on the test. She is also hilarious and very passionate about teaching. No homework but tests are heavily weighted (as well as attendance in discussion). Highly recommend her!
Dr. Johnson is the most knowledgeable and amazing professor I've had. She is an amazing Chem professor and I did really well in the class. Tests are problem-based with few conceptual questions and there are always EC questions. Dr. Johnson is the best person to take for chem if you can get her!
Prof. WGJ is my absolute favorite! She is so funny and kind. She gives you a lot of practice with worksheets and other things so you are prepared for the tests. She really cares for her students so if she sees that the class is not ready for the test, she'll take out a topic of move the test date. The tests weigh about 90% or more of your grade.
She is great at teaching what she goes over in class, but the tests seem to be completely different from what is in the lectures. And if the same material is on the test, it is much harder than example problems learned in class. Never enough time to finish the test, but there are usually one or two extra credit problems. Final was easy.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is a solid professor to take. Her lectures seem like a lot at first, but what really helps are the discussion worksheets she gives--they make you realize you know more than you think. She is extremely clear on what is going to be on the test, which made studying for them super easy. Overall, she's a fun & great professor!
She is the nicest professor ever, she teaches really well although lectures are often boring. Sweetest person ever! Her tests just cover too much material that cannot be done in 50 minutes! She is an easy grader. I felt like I did not learn anything in her class.
By FAR one of the best professors Loyola has. As someone who has struggled with chemistry she makes the class so much easier. Her lectures are wonderful and she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I went from barley passing chem with Helquist to acing chem with her. She makes a big difference.
She is the absolute best choice for Chem 102. WGJ is incredibly fun and has a unique teaching style. The tests are hard, but that's just because the material is difficult. She wants you to do well in this course and is incredibly kind and lenient. Definitely buy the course pack, it will help so so much!!
Take the class. Attend sessions. Get an A. Best Chemistry teacher at Loyola
WILLETTA IS AMAZING. The best physics professor to ever exist, she makes lecture so entertaining, it's easy to follow, she shows mulitple ways of solving problems, discussion sheets are very similar to the exam, she never hesitates to help you. This was one of my favorite classes because she made physics so easy and her lectures are key to exams.
Chem is difficult BUT if you have to take it do not take it with anyone besides Willetta. She gives you so many opportunities that other profs do not. She cares about her students and wants them all to do well. I only thing I disliked was her tests are multiple-choice so if you get one wrong there goes 4 whole points.
Greene-Johnson is a decent choice if you are willing to put in time outside of class. I personally did not learn anything from her lectures, but she gives out a workbook with all the needed information and is clear about what will be on the test. Wants her students to succeed.
Prof. WGJ has my utmost respect for how thoroughly she teaches her lectures. Summer classes run faster and Prof does a wonderful job of teaching the lesson plan in just a week. Explains what's on the test and doesn't assign homework. Shows significant care towards students. It's expected to study and learn modules on your own time to succeed.
My only regret is not taking her for my first semester, she is a wonderful professor who grades very harshly on tests, but is very upfront about what you need to know, attend the discussions and all the lectures are pre-recorded, however, I would recommend going to class. If you do the study guide and understand it, you'll get an A on the exams.
Dr. G-J is hilarious and so enthusiastic during lecture- however, she has a tendency to speed through the sample problems so keeping up with discussion ws and practice is crucial to do well; she is always willing to clarify concepts if needed and her review guides for exams are the best way to study; discussions were for participation points
Dr. GJ is one of the best this school offers. Her lectures are hilarious and she cares about her students so much. Physics is hard so you'll have to put in the work but GET TO KNOW HER AND IT WILL PAY OFF! She's also won a grammy (look it up lol). Can't recommend her enough!
Dr. Greene-Johnson is very kind, and she is very funny in class. However, her lectures were mostly perusing through pdfs which made it hard to follow the content. While it was hard to understand the material, she is a lenient grader and typically has an extra credit problem on tests and homework.
Dr. GJ is so great! She is the best chem prof I've ever taken. Sometimes she lectures a bit fast, but it's easy to catch up and follow along with her workbook. She makes it so easy to study because she provides you with questions similar to what will be on the exams. If you are willing to put in work and effort, Dr. GJ is a great option.
Very accomplished and interesting as a person. The course material is difficult. The three midterms and the final are worth 90% of the grade, and she does not curve the tests. She moves pretty fast and sometimes I find myself unable to focus in her lectures, but it might just be that it is an early morning class.
She is very energetic during her lectures and explains the material well. Discussion attendance is mandatory (duh) and she is very straightforward on what's going to be on the exam. Three exams + final and there is an option to drop one exam and have the final be weighted more
Even though all physics labs are pretty much the same I just wanted to tell others to take WGJ! She is a gift to this institution and a delight to learn from. Had her for chem 102 aswell, and she's a fair and forgiving grader, expectations are crystal clear, and overall just a great person to be around.
I really loved Dr. Greene-Johnson. She is hilarious and caring. Her lectures are a bit all over the place so I would recommend looking over the notes before class. As for exams, they're hit or miss. I feel the review guides were more difficult than the exam, but I always left after the exam thinking "that was either really good or really bad".
CHEM 102 is a notoriously difficult class, but I think prof. Greene-Johnson made it do-able. Her exam reviews are long but she outlines which examples to specifically focus on. I reached out to her, worried about my grade to which she reviewed past exams with me and offered to meet every week. Her only downfall is she's a bit unorganized.
Willetta is not the best choice for chem 102. She was very disorganized and would respond to emails, then just ghost. Her exam reviews were detailed but then she'd throw something on the exam that was barely touched on. Her reviews do not live up to the hype at all. Go for someone else!
I loved her as a person, but as a professor, she was sometimes disorganized. The first and third tests were straightforward, but the second one you need to study for a lot. She never responded to my emails, but her reviews and lectures were helpful. I recommend going to class!!!!! If you work hard and put in effort outside of class, you'll be fine!
WGJ is awesome. She has such a light and friendly personality. Chemistry is always going to be a different class but she made it worthwhile. She always gave extra attempts on SR's and FO's to make sure that we really understood the problems and it counted towards our grade! she makes it really easy to stay afloat and there are is many opportunities
Bro I genuinely dislike her as a person and as a professor. Yes she gives 3 chances for FO's and a second try on SR but how are you that disorganized with everything else? NEVER!!!!!! responds to emails. She's disrespectful to students that aren't teachers pets. I wholeheartedly regret taking her.
Professor Greene was a very insightful professor but during lectures you had to take notes if you wanted to succeed. The posted student notes she has often been missing many key numbers left blank for taking notes, but I feel that did more harm than good for students. Exams were very difficult, and she is a tough grader.
She is truly a genius, but I wouldn't recommend taking her for chemistry. She is a physicist and therefore that is her area of expertise. She is often disorganized and it's common for her not to finish lectures. She often sends out emails that ask you to catch up by yourself and do additional readings. She is one of a kind though! Kind heart.
Honestly the worst prof I have ever taken for chemistry in my life. I already took this class at my old college and she somehow made it EVEN MORE confusing. No one who is a beginner in chem should take her, bc she will plummet your grades faster than the Titanic. The average grade was an F for our first hw. I rather drown in Lake Michigan.
I have never been more disappointed in my life. She has taken every point possible away from all my assignments. I did not know someone could hurt me this much. Sometimes she may act cheerful but it is a facade. And please don't ask her questions, because she will never answer them. She may be the worst professor I ever had. Save yourselves, please
Chem 160 curriculum with fo's and co's are from [REDACTED], not WGJ. She is working with what she has which is not a lot. Topics, especially hard to grasp math FOs would be given 2 weeks to prepare for, she was given like 2 days. She is an amazing teacher and one of the most passionate professors i've had. change the system not the teacher.
If you can take Dr. Greene-Johnson, TAKE HER. CHEM 160 is just a poorly structured class and Dr. Green-Johnson tries to make the best out of it. She will guide you with any questions you have and try to help you as much as she can. She genuinely cares about helping you pass and is good at explaining the subject. Also, SI sessions are great.
WGJ is a very nice and very funny prof, however her notes and lectures are very all over the place. She's definitely not the best prof for physics, but she's not the worst.
with her who you have as a ta is more impt. often she didn't know what was happening or gave us wrong info while trying to help. shes fun to be around and physics lab isn't bad, just ask your ta for help if you need it.
Professor Greene-Johnson can be a bit unorganized, but if you put in the effort, the class is doable. Her exam reviews are super helpful - just focus on the examples she outlines. Unstuckstudy AI was also a lifesaver for me when preparing for the tests.
This class sucks all around due to the new grading system but even so, Greene-Johnson made it worse for me. She does care about students and wants them to pass, but her lectures are actually AWFUL. she goes so fast and she is so energetic that it is stressful and impossible to follow. I had to teach myself all of the concepts/use the SI.
WGJ is my fav prof. She's such an amazing person and cares about her students. Go to her office hours they are so helpful. Unfortunately with this chem sequence, it's really hard to grasp concepts from just one lecture. The class is a heavy load but utilizing other resources is good.
She is a little all over the place sometimes but physics is a subject that can be easily grasped with practice so ask her questions if the lecture doesn't make sense she has no problem answering questions. Exams were a little hard because although she offers a study guide, it is harder than the exam which messes you up imo. She isn't horrible.
WGJ is a fantastic human but is all over the place. I just wish there were some other things going into the grade book but I guess thats just her. Great teacher just wish is was more organized.
WGJ is such an amazing professor and passionate about chem. She knows what she's talkimg about and clarifies if there are any confusion. She is such an open book and so sweet. I definitely recomment her for sure!! Chemistry system sucks a bit, but she makes it bearable.
She is absolutely awesome and I felt lucky to have her for CHEM 160. Don't get me wrong, the class is and will always be hard with the FO CO system, but she was very kind and wanted the students to succeed. My advice, use EVERY resource. Also, I made a point to learn the topics before lecture, it's basically required. Good Luck!
What a queen. Literally won a Grammy in 2004. I love her. Her lectures are mad confusing and the notes she gives for lectures are quite odd, but all you need to know is how to do the problems she gives in discussion and the review packets. Study those religiously before the exam and you'll be good to go.
She is a cool person, won a Grammy, and definitely knows chemistry well. The problem is she is completely disorganized and it's really hard to follow her lectures. I had to teach myself basically all of CHEM160 and rely on the SI tutor. I would not recommend Dr. Greene-johnson, but tbh anyone is better than Helquist.
My queen. She is so sweet and helpful during the lab and will help you with any questions you have. The TA is also helpful, but I found Dr. Greene-Johnson to be more helpful. The lab notebook has poor instructions, so watching the video may help, but still not that great, so having a nice professor and TA to help was very beneficial.
She was a great proffessor, I really enjoyed her lectures, and it was easy to keep up as long as you have basic highschool chemistry knowledge. The chem system however is very hard and it is not a reflection if her teaching that students do bad, but pay attention go to SI review sessions and you will do fine
Dr. Greene-Johnson is great professor. Unfortunately, the chem department is so awful, but she always tries her best to make sure her students understand. She is very knowledgeable, is accessible outside of class with her office hours, and is always great help during the discussions. She's also super funny. Take her, she's great!
Dr Greene-Johnson is honestly my GOAT. The chem department is very bad but she makes it so much better and is so caring and willing to help students who ask questions or go to her office hours. Her lectures are dense but that isn't her fault and she makes them easier to digest and also she is hilarious. Super recommend Dr Greene-Johnson for CHEM160
LITERALLY SAVED ME IN CHEM! I was scared to take CHEM because of the system here, but she is extremely accommodating. She doesn't like the system either, but all she wants is for you to succeed and it shows! Go to her OH, go to lectures, ask questions, practice multiple worksheets that are given. Its really the only you can pass this class.
Physics is hard, and she makes it so much better. Sometimes jumps into things so I am a little lost at first, but once you get into it it's not super crazy hard. Truly the best, take her if you can!
wiletta greene johnson is literally my queen. if you can please take her she is such a baddie and actually explains things in a way that makes sense.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is not a bad professor, sometimes her grading criteria for exams can be confusing and the way she lectures is also confusing. SI sessions do help for this class a lot
She can be a little all over the place, but her personality makes her so amazing. I relied a lot on my SI, and with both of their help, my grade has improved so much. She hates the grading system, and if you make a tiny mistake, most professors would grade it wrong (no mastery), but she typically looks past it b/c she cares about her students sm.
Dr. Greene-Johnson is an amazing woman. SHE HAS A GRAMMY! Her lectures were somewhat hard to follow; however, she really cared about her students and what we were learning. She is the best intro chem professor you can take compared to the other ones. She also hates the chemistry department and tries to make it as easy as possible for her students.
Prof. Johnson is great, sometimes her lectures are confusing, but if you read the chapters, attend SI sessions and teach yourself you can do this. The only problem is the grading system, I don't blame her because it's not her fault. Prepare for many exams each 2 weeks. She wants you to be successful and do well, so she tries always to help you.
