Hard to understand. But, very easy & fun!
This professor is here for research, she does not know how to teach. Her notes are unorganized and unspellchecked. She's nice, but over half of our class is faililng the exams. The exams do not cover the material is lecture or the text. Lab is cake.
She's very clear and the class is very easy.
She is such a sweet lady. Soooooo easy. She knows we are not science majors so she makes things ten times easier.
This lady is a sweetheart, she understand that were not all bio majors. She has a passion for certain parts, and goes longer on those, then disregauds things like evolution, which she goes faster on. Shes genuine, and shokingly funny. Take HER!
She is a great teacher!
Horrible teacher! She left class during the time, even if we had questions. She is very hard to understand. She slurrs all her words. I did not like the class at all. She did not teach us anything or help us out at all.
she's the best bio prof for anyone who doesn't like science! super sweet, always willing to help or go over unclear materials. appears to be a boring class the first day or two, but she always lets you out early, suprisingly very funny! hates grading papers so she doesn't assign any
The worse science teacher I have ever taken. She is really hard to understand. She had her ten year old daughter grade our lab practicles. She always left class even when we had questions. I hated that class, but I loved my lecture course. Take Milhon. He's the best!
This was the worst class I've taken here. Her lectures were unorganized and when we asked questions she didn't know the answers. Her tests didn't represent the material. Her grading was absurdly unfair. She left class all the time because she "didn't connect with us." Nice lady, bad teacher.
At first you think "oh cool" but once you start the science, you wanna turn back and run away but she grabs you and says "no no it will be fun" then you cry the rest of the semester.NOTHING BUT NOTES.You pretty much learn by yourself. She is nice and if you have any questions she will answer. Boring.
The lectures r composed of notes, so-buy a laptop if u get her. She doesn't want 2 curve if maybe 4 or 5 people out of 40 got an A. It's pretty difficult on tests. But she will help IF u ask.
Don't take for lecture. All she does is read the words she wrote on the overhead. Hard to understand, lots of notes, tests are really hard. My lecture class over three/fourths of the class gets c,d,f on tests. Doesn't explain, gets mad if you play around on labtops. Horrible teacher. Sub was better.
very sweet lady. tests aren't that bad if you study. Very little homework. 1 paper. Understands we aren't all Bio majors. A bit hard to understand if you don't pay attention. Pay attention, you'll be fine.
didnt seem bad at first, all labs are doable, but the final was the worst! unclear on what we needed to know, seemed like she put it together last minute. nothing made sense!
Very, very nice woman. A little hard to understand, at times, but she is very helpful. If you show interest and effort, there is no way you can get less than a B. She will give easy extra credit also. Take her if you can!!
Wow. hard to hear- voice is pretty ghetto. MUCH content, frequent tests. Hates Mr. Hansen (bio lab teacher). Will give you a good grade if you pay attention and turn crap in. I made her cookies on the last day and raised my grade 10%!!! Really nice lady if you participate.
Her class is pretty ok. Just show up take notes pay attention. If you show that you're really trying then your overall grade will be fine. She's a sweet lady.Be sure to take her for lab if u take her for lecture. She's from Alabama so she has an accent. But, if ur a typical ignorant APU kid then like the previous commentator she might seem "ghetto"
Do not take this class unless you already know and understand science really well. She's a nice enough person, but the class is really difficult. You take notes pretty much all class. Her tests are very hard, and will cover things that were not mentioned in the notes. She explains things to the class like we are all science majors - not good.
easy class, HARD test. like everyone else said, all you do is take notes. but there's little to no homework, and if you have a good (fake) excuse, she'll let you turn things in WAY late. her tests are really hard, although if you read the book along with lectures, it wouldn't be that hard. TAKE HER FOR LAB! it's so easy! Overall, sweet lady, easy.
She is really dry. She's hard to understand. All she does all class is read off her notes. She is really really smart...but she's almost too smart for this class. She talks to us like we're bio. majors. Her class is boring. There's no interaction in her class. Her lab is fine but she doesn't explain anything. Don't take her.
I was in her class in the beginning of the semester, but I got out of it because she sucked. Bio isn't interesting, but she is such a bad teacher that I went to my genie and made my final wish and it was "Please make biology disappear, because Simms is horrible!" DO NOT TAKE HER!
very hard professor in the summer.some of the exams were extremely difficult in terms of content and grading.60 pts multiple choice and 40 pts short answer is very hard. very important to know lots of details for exams.I studied very hard for exams and did not get an A. Exams are very difficult because they cover lots of material. hard class!
If you have to take Biology take it during the summer with her. It may seem way hard while you are taking the class, but she gives you a really good grade if you show that you've tried. I had 2 D's, a C, and 2 B's on the tests, did the labs and a paper and she gave me an A-... so much easier than a regular semester.
To preface, I am not trying to be rude. I'm letting you know what I wish I knew. Simms is from the deep south, but her drawl is thicker than anyone I've ever heard before...plus, she enunciates like she is deaf. This is very difficult in an already boring, over-technical lecture. Tests are hard & she expects failure. Doesn't allow laptops in class.
Simms has a lot of knowledge but can't communicate very well. Her tests are EXTREMELY hard and she doesn’t grade on a curve. She expects you to know everything, and I mean everything, that she writes down. The class is all lecture and very boring. I would strongly not recommend her unless you have an incredible passion for biology.
Fundamentals-weird, unpredictable tests. REALLY unclear in class, hard to understand, and NO sense of humor (makes class VERY slow). A lot of points at the end of the quarter, so it's possible to pass, but quite a few people struggled through the class. Study A LOT for the tests-only on the notes, but LOTS of detail.
Her lab class is fine and easy; and I had no problem with her class, but her lab practical is ridiculously hard. She assumes that all of her students are bio majors and treats them so. I have 5 friends who are bio majors and they couldn't even answer some of the questions AND THEY'RE TOP STUDENTS! DONT TAKE HER CLASS! I'm warning you!
The lab class was easy...that is until the lab practical came along...i studied so much for it...but she asked ridiculously hard questions...i learned close to nothing...anyways...i ended up with a B in the lab...but i tried way too hard to get just a B
Do not take this biology with this professor, change your schedule while you still can! she is unclear in all aspects, her speech, her lectures. She knows her stuff but does not make an effort to try to make us understand. Her lack of passion for teaching is evident she should pursue a different career!write lots of notes and do NOT buy the book!
Ms. Simms is a sweet sweet lady who is actually quite funny...you just have to work a little bit to get it out of her. If you show up and try, she'll give you a decent grade even if you don't do well on all the assignments. I had her for class and lab and am NOT a good science student. But if you're willing to try, you'll be fine.
I had her for LABS, and it was kind of tough. You really have to learn along the way, because she doesn't really explain the labs well. It's kind of hard because she mumbles sometimes and she has an acent. But if you really focus, then you should be fine.
She's hard to understand at first but you get used to it. She doesn't explain the labs very well, but she answers questions if you've got them. The worst part about her lab is that she gives you tests! She tests you on the different labs done in class, including the introductory info in each one. They're not impossible, but they're not easy either.
I did not give her a horrible rating just because. She is nice, but should not be a teacher. There were only 24 people in my class and 19 got Fs on the first test, and the next 3 tests the grades were similar. She is hard to understand, and won't budge with study guides or curves. Don't take her.
UGH! first of all, you can't hardly understand her and she doesnt hold up her end of the deal as a teacher...no study guides or anything and the tests are ridiculous..she says that she tests straight from her notes but she doesnt at all. she is a nice lady, but a bad teacher. DO NOT TAKE.
She is so, so, so hard to understand. She gives very rough quizzes and you have no idea what is going to be on them. sometimes she gives a very, very unclear study guide, but the stuff on them is not even on the tests or quizzes! I got a good grade in the class, but only by chance. the class average on major tests was always around 60% or lower
She's nice, but VERY hard, and does not grade on a curve or give study guides no matter how low the average grades are. Also, her accent can make her extremely hard to understand at times.
I took lab with her and I think that despite the fact that she realizes that the lab practi****and other such graded things are impossible and everyone does poorly, she doesn't mind and leaves them be. But one great thing about lab with her - you always get out early!!! And she's a really nice lady, just not the best teacher....
expects too much for a fundamentals (intro) to bio class.
She was not helpful in our lab at all. Her TA was even more useless. She would say she was going to make tests easier and then they'd be harder! She's a nice lady, but her tests are killer!
It was a hard class for a gen ed... but if you study like your supposed to, although you really have to work for it, you'll do fine. I'm a way average student and I ended up with an A-. She isn't that hard to understand, you get used to it. The lab portion is easy, about 2-3 quizzes and the practi****isnt that bad...its way over estimated
She was the hardest teacher i have every had! I studied really hard for each test and still failed every single one. She does give a lot of extra credit but not enough to really help your grade. She is a nice lady but teaches the basic class like a major class.
The class isn't too bad if you really study for the test. Don't just skim over your notes because you will fail. You really need to work hard to do well on the tests. She gives a lot of extra credit to balance it all out though.
She's difficult, there is no study guide EVER, and she sucks at letting you know what to study in the first place. She can be difficult to understand or even hear, and she is vague. However, she is a really nice lady, just a difficult prof.
Professor Simm's Biochem class was ridiculous. First of all, this lady has a speech impediment, an accent, and talks below a whisper so you can barely hear her. She hardly taught us at all. We would've been better off just teaching ourselves. Her class was ridiculous, and her quizes and tests were super hard. If you can avoid her, don't take her.
Terrible class. Doesnt use textbook. In order to pass her tests you must literally memorize EVERYTHING from notes. We took 4-6 pages of notes EVERY class. Bad teacher. Bumped everyone grades at end tho. Ended up with an A even though I had a C- before going into final...Avoid her if at alllll possible!!! Nice lady, terrrrrible teacher.
You know those caring teachers who want you to succeed? She isn't one of them!! She has a speech impediment and an accent. Its hard to understand her and you take 5 page notes every class. Make sure you teach yourself, because wont help you at all. She doesn't believe in study guides or extra credit.
This is my second time taking this class, and she is doing much better than before. Her teaching methods are not good. You copy notes from the overhead for the whole class. Her tests are ridiculously hard and she is not willing to help you. Text book use is non-existent, so don't bother buying it. MEMORIZE all of her notes for a good grade!
A lot of people complain about Dr. Simms. It's not her fault that the class is only 1 unit. That needs to be changed. She is doing her best to dumb it/water it down for us. I memorized the notes and understood them and was fine. You have to read the test questions very carefully and slowly.
I wish reviews were on this website before I decided to take her. Nice lady, bad teacher. Impossible to understand. It is just over half way through the semester and I'm just learning to understand her. I have her for BIOL 101 Lab, and she is unclear, relies on the TA every class, and the quizes are not on the material you expect. Avoid if possible
I had Simms for Fund of Biology LAB. First, she's a very nice lady; however, she is very hard to understand and she is pretty unclear about what she expects. Overall, not a big deal. However, I would avoid this class because of the practicum. The amount of information we had to memorize was ridiculous, I spent 14+ hours on it, and got an 81%.
Dr. Simms...really nice lady, not meant for teaching. She knows her stuff but you won't. Really hard course and each chapter test is like a final. I would suggest to take a different professor, but the decision is ultimately up to you. Lab is interesting, just sucks when you have to write a 7 page paper about it.
One tip of advice, do not take this course. She is extremely difficult to understand and she doesn't help much. Nice lady though.
Hated this class. She is of no help. Avoid taking this class. Tests are super hard! She has you study tons and in the end, everything she told you to study isn't even on the test!!
One thing that many students don't know is she is willing to help. That is why she has her office hours and her contact information in the syllabus. However, her tests are VERY difficult for a 101 class. just hope that the LOADS of info that you studied show up on the exam. I got As in the sciences in HS. I have a D right now. Enough said.
Professor is not good at all! Avoid taking at all costs. She teaches as if we were all bio majors. We are not! She tells you to study for one thing and then nothing is on the test she tells you to study for. Never have failed a class in my life and this looks to be the first one I am going to fail! I repeat DONT EVER TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
Simms is a nice lady, but as a teacher not so much. Her tests and quizzes are extremely difficult. The stuff she focuses on in class, isn't even remotely close to what she puts on the tests. Her final is meant for track star geniuses because she gives you 1 minute at a station where it takes you 30 seconds just to find what your supposed to answer!
Awful professor. She never explained the labs, and even when she did explan them you couldn't understand her. Quizes were ridiculously hard and same with the lab practical at the end of the semester. Avoid her at all costs!!
I wish I had taken everyones advice and switched teachers. She just reads off facts while lecturing and i was kicked out of class for looking at the time on my phone. The class is easy, but the lectures are miserable.
Exams are way too hard for a Fundamentals class, and she doesn't explain much at all. I hear she's helpful if you see her during office hours, but during class she is vague and doesn't seem to understand students' questions. Class consists of listening to her read notes and copying them down.
This beezy is crazy never take this class I hated every sec of it. Exams are super hard.
This class was very challenging but if you do the work and pay attention you can pass. People that complain are usually the ones who do not like to the work. SImms is a sweet lady and if you visit her office hours she is willing to work with you.
How is this woman a professor? Biochemistry itself is challenging enough, and she just makes it nearly impossible. Her lack of clarity and expectations is what screws everyone over. Just because we're nursing students, doesn't mean we're einsteins!!! We still need to learn to understand...
VERY nice lady, but definitely not teacher material. I love chemistry, and thought this class would be interesting after taking CHEM 111), however, it was difficult, and UNFAIR. The level of material that I understood should have given me a B+ or an A-.... Ask her for help in office hours for best results. AND BE NICE!!!
The class is hard but all science classes present a challenge memorize her notes but make sure you UNDERTSTAND the material first if you go and speak to her after class she is a very sweet lady. She expects you to be able to work with the material not just memorize.
This is the only class I've taken in which the syllabus possess a "Complaints" section, for good reason. If you want to do decent memorize the notes word for word. The exams will feature many trick questions.
She is a Very challenging professor and her test are really hard, BUT if you ask for help and show you care and stay after class and ask questions she'll pass you. Also STAY OFF YOUR PHONE! she hates that!
incredibly hard teacher, the lisp definitely doesnt help her in lectures. tests are very very hard. she is a nice lady, but just not a good teacher.wouldnt recommend her.
Tests are hard but she is great lady and willing to help if you show that you care. I studied 2+ hours for every test & got an A. Just do the work she gives you. Also, we didn't use the book, she gives out note packets for half price & every question from the tests are in them. If you get an A, you don't have to take the final exam. No phones :)
I have a helpful hint! Take her in summer! She can't possibly cram all the material so it's less overwhelming. She has to condense the course a lot, also u don't need the book! She is so nice and helpful. Sorry if u had her in the long sem, I could see that being drag. SUMMER!
I did TERRIBLY on every single test but showed up to class, did well on the projects, and participated. I had to take Bio as a requirement and I was a senior. She knew I wasn't into Bio and was kind with my grades. Make an effort and she'll help you out!
Simms is a great teacher! She offers outside help whenever it is needed, lectures ONLY on what will be on the test, and wants you to learn. I studied only my notes for about 3-4 hours the night before each test and received an average A- grade on all tests. She gives out extra credit and if you question something on HW she will look it back over.
Not too sure about how she is as a lecture professor, but as a lab professor,I did not like her. Her quizzes are hard and she doesn't give much clarity at all about assignments. If you can take someone else for lab, do it.
Great person, extremely nice. But her accent is hard to understand sometimes. Her tests are very difficult - she doesn't test on concepts she tests on facts - so make sure you memorize all the little details.
Don't take this professor. If you disregard this warning you will hate yourself 2 weeks down the road. She is nearly impossible to understand because of her lisp, she spells everything wrong, has bad handwriting and is bad at drawing. Understanding her is like reading Hieroglyphics. Also, the tests are 70% of the grade. I'm not down.
She is not easy. To be completely honest she is a little stronger on detail then anything else. She is compassionate though as long as you follow the rules to the her classroom and be respectful she will indeed help you out. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE. She does kick people out and when you miss class you miss the material that you need for the test.
TAKE HER OVER SUMMER. She's a great professor. Ask her questions&she is eager2help. She's highly intelligent so make sure ur questions r clear. She's sarcastic, witty, & fun so dont take her2seriously. If u dont take her over summer her TA's grade the hw so grading's harder. Im a SW major&hated bio but ended up loving it. She's now my favorite prof
She is VERY approachable outside of class. Her tests are hard but if you study a LOT you can get a decent (B) grade! Use youtube videos to help you study the material more. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS. You WILL get kicked out.
Dr. Simms is the sweetest lady ever, but for a BIO 101 course- she's the hardest to take. If you show interest in succeeding and keep following through with her- she takes that into consideration. She truly cares for you if you show interest and respect!
She is awful! I literally would walk out of lab crying. She didn't help at all. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS
I highly recommend you to take her DURING SUMMER. She has the sweetest personality ever and sincerely cares about how you're doing in her class. Honestly, the tests are hard. This is not because she is a hard grader, but the science itself is difficult for people not majoring in science, including me. She now becomes one of my fav professor.
Class is tough for intro bio and a lot of people say she is the worst, but i liked her. If you show her you care, improve your test scores ( even by 1%) and ask questions, you'll pass. It may seem like you are doing terrible, but she really takes into consideration the amount of effort a student puts in when she does grades! BEFRIEND HER!
Dr. Simms is by far the best bio teacher I've had! All the negativity is probably b/c those students were lazy, and didn't take the time to talk to her or get help. Do not be afraid of taking this class, especially if you have an interest in bio. She is very clear on expectations, test are tough but definitely will prepare you. I've learned A LOT.
Other people who rate Dr. Simms on this website are brutal. She's actually really nice and she is very knowledgeable on the material. She will take her time to one-on-one with you and she is very reasonable. Do take her! Not much homework but do study the notes as they are the basis for the exams.
Willetta Simms is a great professor and an awesome person. She is kind and funny and her class is not too challenging. Also, she gives plenty of options for extra credit. If you show up, take notes, and do the homework, you will pass.
If you actually try to learn and show that to her, she will make sure to get you to the grade you want. Her work will be hard but like I said, she will work with you and will not fail anyone who puts effort into this course.
Loved this teacher. Her teaching style is very straight forward. Although it's hard to understand her at times you get used to it. As long as you take notes and study from them you'll do fine on the tests. She is super sweet outside of class too. She let me make up tests that I missed and excuses the final if you get an A in the class.
I enjoyed her class so much! I was dreading this class going into it but she is hilarious. If you don't want to work hard and you want an easy A then maybe don't consider taking her course. She expects hard work, attendance and won't dumb down the material. Provides opportunities to help improve grades. Show up, work hard and you'll do fine.
Sticks with the syllabus. Very approachable. Willing to adjust your grade if you talk with her. Almost always a couple minutes late to class. In the class itself, she'll give you instructions, then you work with your table group. Faster you work earlier you leave. I sat in the front, but it was difficult to understand her because of her accent.
Very sweet and helpful when you ask. There's only one paper with a clear rubric at the beginning. Quizzes and the final are difficult. You really gotta know your material cause you'll only have a vague idea of what you'll be tested on. Also large amount of info on the study guides (which weren't very helpful) but she does grade on a curve.
Her notes are very clear and it's not difficult to do well on her tests if you take good notes, pay attention, and make sure to study the notes closely. She assigns two pretty hefty essays the last two weeks of class, but you get to choose the style (APA, MLA, etc) and the topics for both. An A in the class means you don't have to take the final.
Professor Simms is very passionate about her job. Although she does not speak with much expression, her teaching style is amazing. I guarantee that you will learn a lot in her class. The tests are all test based which is a plus! The course does require that you study quite a bit. Professor Simms is also very accessible outside of class. Great prof!
I am thoroughly disappointed after taking BIO 101 Lab with Professor Simms. She was discouraging and rude towards us students, not seeming to care if we learned the material. She was never on time to a class and never explained directions in a helpful or clear way. I do not recommend this class at all and would advise anyone to take this course.
As a nonmajor, I was terrified of taking a general biology course/lab this summer. However, after hard work, I was able to pass the class and take away a lot of knowledge that can be applied to my prospective career. I also learned a lot applicable to my personal life. Dr. Simms has obviously been in this field for a while. Dont be afraid of her.
Prior to the start of class (bio 101L), some of my peers mentioned having concern about the class content and professor's overall strictness. Let me just say, any preconceptions you may have about Professor Simms will be quickly deconstructed upon meeting with her. You'll find a caring, intelligent, and humorous woman. You will not be disappointed!
Dr. Simms comes off as intimidating, but shes actually one of the most caring professors out there. Lectures are based off of how well you take notes in class, as there is no required biology textbook. Go to office hours and really get to know her.
Dr. Simms is a professor that goes above and beyond to communicate and help you understand the material. She is clear about what is expected of you and available during her office hours and usually after class as well. With hard work and diligence you will do well in this class. Her notes are clear, use them as your study guide!
If biology isn't your best subject, don't take Simms. Rearrange your schedule if that's what it takes. She's irritable, routinely late to class, a harsh grader, and has unclear expectations. She didn't provide a study guide for the practical, and unsurprisingly, the majority of us scored around 60% or lower. She told us she'd curve it; never did.
Dr. Simms may seem hard at first, but once you get to know her, she will do everything and anything to help you get your grade up. At the beginning of the semester, I found it hard to understand her, but I got used to it. I had a poor grade in the class and she was able to get me to a B. Al you have to do is ask and she will help you!!!
If you have the chance to NOT take this class with Simms, DO IT!!! She is always late to class, and unreasonable. She expects way too much from her students who do not even have this subject as their major. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
Don't get spooked by her ratings-- Professor Simms comes across as intimidating, but she is actually very caring and understanding. She is very blunt (especially to students who are disrespectful), but as long as you're respectful, ask questions, and participate, you shouldn't have a problem. You'll definitely need to study for the practicum.
do not be scared of the reviews, she is a kind and reasonable professor! She literally tells you what to do and you just have to do it, if you need help her or the TA will be more than happy to help! she is a few minutes late to class which is helpful for when the trolly rides to the other campus take forever!
Simms is the BEST professor I've had at APU. I'm Lib Studies so I don't know jack crap about bio. She made it so easy, and she's so easygoing and funny. She also is extremely caring and understanding. I had surgery and she told me not to worry ab anything until I was off painkillers. Two assignments, and an EXAM she excused me from. I love Simms!!!
Being online with her was easy, but she's still a strict professor. You don't turn in your lab on time, she will give you a zero; no excuses. And good luck if you take a quiz or an exam with her because she doesn't even give out study guides. Overall she's okay as a professor.
It's a miracle that I survived this class. I've never studied so hard in my life and still barely passed. She tests on entire units instead of chapters. You really need to know every detail, like literally word for word. good luck
She is an amazing professor!! Very kind, understanding, and caring of students situation! Only downside is that her class is difficult, tests are graded very heavily, so you need to study a lot. Attendance is also very important to her.
Lab with Simms is worse than getting teeth pulled. Its impossible to understand what shes saying half the time, and she can be grouchy. Belittles students, doesnt answer questions clearly, and grades harshly. I just try to go to my happy place or maybe count the cracks in the ceiling panels while Im there. Last I checked there are about 14.
First off, her syllabus is a train wreck. Lots of typos, entire blank pages between sections, random phrases in all caps, confusing wording, etc. Also, the tests are HARD. She never gives out study guides either, just tells students to look over any notes theyve ever taken during the semester. Everyone always fails the practical for this reason.
Her tests are hard, almost impossible if you don't study. She makes faces at you if you don't do something right or understand a question, most def. if you get a question wrong. It makes you feel stupid and not want to ask questions ever again. A lot of the test isn't in notes. No study guides. Attendance is mandatory. Nice outside of class though.
Doctor Simms presents a curriculum that feels hurried and challenging, leaving students struggling to keep pace. The tests are notably tricky, reflecting a lack of alignment with the course material's depth and pace. Despite this, the teaching approach lacks the necessary depth and engagement needed to adequately prepare students.
Test material takes lot of memorization but I felt like what she was asking of us was pretty reasonable, the reviews for her scared me but she ended up being a very understanding professor.
People are so dramatic...she is the most understanding professor ever. Her syllabus is scary but all of her policies are reasonable. She gives extra credit quizzes and if you have an A at the end you're exempt from the final. If you study for exams and ask questions, you're totally fine. Don't let people scare you! She's hilarious and super caring.
I loved Dr. Simms. She is a great person and really cares about the subjects she teaches. Although her class is difficult, if you study and pay attention in class you should be able to pass. Amazing professor, and even better person.
Professor Simms genuinely cares about her students. She's not as strict as some people claim, aside from attendance (3 absences allowed). She gives helpful advice and is very funny during lectures. The class includes two papers and four multiple-choice tests, but everything is manageable if you put in the work to study and pay attention in lecture.
Goodness, these ratings are dramatic. Her syllabus may seem intimidating, but everything in it is valid. She's very sweet and funny during lectures, but she is strict about attendance and no devices (reasonable) . You'll do well in the class if you study and take good notes during lecture. My best advice is to sit in the front of class.
