Grades tough but gives a lot of extra credit work
No Comments
Nice repeating what he teaches.
clear, will answer any question, plenty of extra credit.
Great teacher, very helpful.
He is an awesome teacher. He is very approachable. I would highly recommend him.
i love this guy i wish he could teach all my classes
Very helpfull professor. At times can be a little unclear but will do anything to help you understand. Gives plently of extra credit and gives you every opportunity for a good grade.
He is a very nice and helpful teacher, also you have more opportunities to get extra credits.
The man repeats himself over and over again
Very unclear, doesn't explain in a way that will help a student who knows nothing about Accounting. Try to avoid taking this class if he's your professor. You have to teach yourself!
knowledgeable and well-formatted
Not an easy professor, but clear communication. Humorous, very procedural, lots of extra credit. Tests are all open book, multiple choice! Would recommend highly for Business Law.
Had him for ACCT.1 & 2. Hard to understand but offers a lot of extra credit. Tests are open book and mulitple choice. He also gives a take home test. If you work really hard you will get a good grade.
His tests were next to impossible and his extra credits were writing a 200 word essay for every single question you get wrong, who the hell has the time to do that? his tests are a bunch of word problems with no journal entries that have nothing to do with accounting, were suppose to be learning accounting right?
Just as he said it... Accounting looked like a big train wreck to me!!
Tons of extra credit but its alot of work.
If you can pay hard attention to his not so exciting lectures, his repetition alone will get you an A. I think he's good.
I have had Dr Allen for Eco 101,102 and Intro to Business and I think he is one of the best teachers on campus. I did not take him for accounting and have heard he is very hard in that class. The classes I took where easy but I learned a ton. That is the sign of a good teacher.
Knows his stuff but speeds along leaving question behind. If you don't get it look somewhere else for the answer.
it's my second education and he is the best professor I've ever had. wish I'd had a chance to get to know him years ago.
If you have never seen accounting before taking his class, i recommend a different teacher. Very knowledgeable but does not know how to pass his knowledge off to those who have never seen the material before. You will memorize the book by heart, but know nothing about accounting!
By far my favorite teacher...He's very easy and down to Earth and comes in to class prepared, energised, and ready to superbly teach. He does move quickly but I found that to be a good thing. "The syllabus is what we do and what we do is on the syllabus". DEFINATELY reccomend his business class.
Absolutely the worse teacher/professor I have ever had in any subject at any level.
you teach yourself
so hard u have to teach ur self everything he does not know how to explain anything and u just read right from the book all the time the one think i did like is that there was take home tests and in class test and the scores where combined to give u a batter grade
Worse teacher ever!! i will never take his class again!!
Not a good professor. His tests are impossible. I wrote a 10+ page extra credit paper, and he gave me no credit at all for it. I will never take one of his classes again.
He is always on time and follows the Syllabus well however his teaching style is terrible. Spends two hours going over homework however he can not explain it to someone in a clear manner. He offers extra credit however you have to do it exactly right or you will receive no credit. Avoid him there are better accounting teachers out there
Do Not take Him! if you have to go to school on saturdays to avoid him... DO IT... I am an A student, and was able to get a B in his class. But i had to completely give up my life to do so. I spent two hours every night doing work for his class and i learned nothing. hes a nice guy, but if you ask him a question he gives u a bs answer... avoid him!
Worst teacher ever!!!! He just loves to hear himself talk... and he doesn't even teach!! He called me by the wrong name during the entire semester because he forgets everything! He tells you in the beginning of the class that you can do extra credit for every test....then after you spend hours doing the extra credit, he doesn't give you any credit
Dont take his classes!
Refuse to answer the question, the answer was :"E-mail me". During the lesson ask questions himself not the audience. Worst teacher I ever had. Likes to mention how good he is and his private company. Sometimes it looks like he is teaching just to advertise his CPA business....
absolutely worst teacher i ever had. would take an 8pm fri class for the next 3 years before i took another class of his.
If you have to take him WORK WITH A GROUP!That way you can compare answers. In class Exams are pulled from homework so make sure you copy all the homework problems from his "answer book" which he makes available for u in the library.Pass inclass exams&DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT HOMEWORK and u will be fine.DO NOT QUIT OR DROP THE CLASS!YOU CAN DO IT!
had him for accounting 101 He is a very follow the book kind of person Wants everthing a certain way and if one thing is wrong NO CREDIT does not address you as a person and wont know your name outside of the class 2 take home test 2 in class test and a final, his retake tests are 200 words for every1 you got wrong but one mistake NO CREDITTTT !
Incredibly winded and a very narrow minded way of teaching. Limited examples are repeated tirelessly and do not add to the lesson at hand. Read short segments from the book that did not pertain to testing material making them incredibly difficult to study for. Extra credit is offered but is impossible to do if you can't perform well on the tests
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! He is not worth the money you have to pay for his class. He will give you NO CREDIT for the work you've done if he finds one mistake on it. He's demeaning to the students. Do not take this class with him.
I had to take this guy for three classes while getting my degree, and he is by far the worst professor I ran across at Camden County. Test questions are unclear and nothing he does in his classes actually teaches you. Even the extra credit is a waste of time, like writing sentences on a chalk board. Avoid him if you can, unfortunately, I could not.
Don't even think about taking his class. he is absolutely the worst teacher ever. everything you read on here are true. believe me i am a straight a student and i barely survived his class and managed to get a c.
If you are looking for someone who is narcissistic, obsessed with himself, attendance, what he does OUTSIDE of school and his personal accounting business, then take him. If you are looking to learn about Business Law, don't take him.
This professor is by far the most efficient teacher i have ever had if you go to his class go to learn its easy to get left behind but he is thorough in his teaching.. u wont miss the same question twice i guarantee you that..
The perfect type of teacher for this class--clear and concise. As he would say, "there are no surprises in my class." He has thorough knowledge of the subject and is not narcicisstic. He moves quickly but has many EC opportunitites and answers every question until you're satisfied. Read the chapter before each class to have quesrions ready.
This professor talks about his policies and procedures more than than the material. His explanations don't help at all, even though he encourages students to "ask questions". His lectures are also very uninformative, as well as annoying due to his penchant for repeating everything he says multiple times. If you want to learn, avoid this professor.
You will not learn with this professor. I am a straight A student who understands concepts very easy. This teacher was the worst teacher i ever had. He is very sarcastic so watch out!
He is a very straight forward teacher. His tests are hard but always lets you write a 200 word essay for each question you got wrong, then grades it as a test. He is also very strict when it comes to format on papers and will not hesitate to give a zero.
I had Mr. Allen for Intro to Business. I like him a lot as a person, but he gets very repetitive. I will say that even with a million of the same questions asked he never lost his patience. He made getting a good grade in the class rather easy thanks to extra credit, but he doesn't like to admit when he's wrong. I would suggest him for this class.
He is very repetitive and you won't learn much. The tests are very long and difficult. He doesn't teach anything that will be on the exams, you have to study yourself, and learn on your own.
I love how he is very organized and straight forward with his course. I like the take-home exams he give for us but it barely helps you much with the in-class exams. He may put a small percentage of them on the in-class but overall the exams are hard because some of the answers are very close and you have to pick the best one. Not recommended.
He does not teach much... He is boring. He talks the same thing over and over... His exams are confusing. I gave him my homework and he turned it down because he did not cover page(class hours, days, etc). Very narrow minded individual.
One thing about this professor is EFFICIENCY. This is one easy-going PRECISE accountant (CPA). There are NO surprises in his class, KEEP his policies & don't lose them. Don't think you'll slide. Do EXACTLY what he asks and you'll pass. Read before class and do homework and you will pass. He gives AMPLE EC so take advantage and don't miss out!
Simply he is a good professor. He is a well learned person, helpful as well. If students can't understand anything,he does his best to make them clear. The most interesting thing if you ask him a question 1000 times, he'll answer you 1000 times without being bored. It's kinda hard to concentrate on his class, but if you can it'll be helpful for you.
Dr. William Allen is one of the greatest teachers of Camden Country College. I took some of his accounting courses, those were really great because of his great effort for students. I recommend to others to take his class.
I was enthusiastic when I began this class with Dr. Allen. That all dwindled on the second day of class and has been a horrible experience since. I am a straight a student and I think I'm going to flunk this one. He is insulting and condescending at the same time to the students if they just ask a question in regards to what we are learning.
Lectures do not correspond with the exams. Even with taking notes, doing practice exercises, and studying chapters, it was not enough to even get a C. This guy is way overboard for an introduction course
Does not explain in full detail and uses the rules & procedures as an excuse for students who struggle. Had him for Accounting and thought it was just me that was struggle his class. I was wrong. He was just a horrible professor who can read or help his students out.
I would not recommend this professor if you have a full course load and are working. Too much for me I failed this class. He was very helpful. I just could not keep up with the work to succeed in his class.Interesting man, but not as interesting as me. I a, more hard-headed than this professor and will get an A next time. If you like to work takehim
Pros: Punctual, fair attendance & lateness policy. Cons: Everything else. He is obsessed with his policies & procedures to a ridiculous degree. He does not attempt to vary his teaching style and repeats the same things over and over again. His tests are confusing and he is of little help when trying to explain questions. I did not learn anything.
He didnt really teach, went over a 'Take home test" then was down with you. if you can pass this up please do.
The worst teacher I have ever had. Hands down.
Would never recommend this professor to ANYONE. Great individual, but horrible teaching methods. He repeats himself way too much, and gives you little information to help you study or prepare for an exam. I never had a C until this class and haven't had another since him. The tests are near impossible, and you don't learn ANYTHING from them.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! This professor is arrogant, condescending, insulting, and down right LAZY with his teaching! I have never stressed as much as I did with this class. I studied hours upon hours for his exams and never scored higher than a C. He is the WORST! His exams do not match his lectures or what the book teaches. Avoid him at ALL costs
He loves to hear himself talk. He will repeat himself 100 times but nothing he says relates to what we're actually learning. You have to teach yourself everything in this class and pretty much memorize the book or you will not pass. I barely received a C and I've always been a A student. He seems like a nice guy but he is a terrible professor.
talks very fast, repetitive to the point where its too confusing to try to comprehend, take home and in class exams are your only grades, reading and finding answers is all on you, only extra credit is a 10 page research paper, a lot of information, if your good at reading you'll be fine if you need discussions to understand, don't take.
Prof Allen has good intensions, but his teaching method just doesn't work, or at least it didn't for me!! Luckily my dad is an accountant so he helped me on all of the take-home tests, but I still bombed all the in class tests so I ended up just getting by w/ a C. Tests are very long and very difficult. Suggest taking ACC101 with someone else!
Very smart guy. Has a doctorate and is a CPA. Obviously knows what he is talking about. He taught at temple before and the way he teaches is hard. Great intentions but a very difficult class
He is a really smart guy. Has his own accounting firm, a doctorate and he is also a CPA. The way he teaches is hard. He is very robotic. Has a clear cut agenda. His tests are extremely hard. He has more then one right answer in the test questions. You have to pick the "best answer" even if there are 3 that could work. Very very hard.
He is honesty the worst professor I have ever had. I'm not kidding, ever person in his class failed. He should realize that he needs to change something about his teaching style. He does not go over anything, nor did he tell anyone what to study. His tests were extremely hard and he used very confusing wording.
His teaching style is "read the book and take the test". Sometimes what he says in class is actually wrong and it ends up hurting you on the tests. Tests are all multiple choice however he gives you multiple right answers and you have to choose the "most correct" which makes it incredibly hard to actually learn anything. Avoid at all costs.
His in class teaching method is reading the headlines of things in the chapters and mildly explaining them. The way he wants you to study for tests is look over your take home tests, which he doesn't really go over. You could potentially be studying wrong info. Most if not all of the answers on tests are correct. You have to pick the "most correct"
Dr. Allen is so nice and he's intelligent. But he does not know how to teach. He literally reads and repeats the chapter headings and that's it. He repeats everything like 20 times but doesn't EXPLAIN anything. He puts the "next best answer" on the exam versus the actual answer. Had to withdrawal from the class.
If you don't have to take this professor, DO NOT! He's a very smart man but he cannot teach for the life of him. He's a terrible teacher. He lectures but not well. He doesn't explain anything or walk you through what exactly you need to do. EVEN IF YOU ASK HIM!!!
This man will never shut up abut the Coke soda. He is an awful professor, and always says the same things each class (it doesn't really relate to the current chapter, only chapter one). his tests are impossible because its scenarios, not actual questions. If anyone can avoid this mans class, avoid at all costs
Prof Allen is a great guy but this class was very difficult. In class he doesnt go over how to actually do anything and talks briefly about topics. There are take home tests where you can find all the answers online, but the in class tests were some of the hardest Ive ever taken. He lets you do an extra credit paper on anything you want
Dr. Allen's great. Truth is he's a tough professor. However, this is a college course. It's supposed to be challenging. I'm certain the complaints here are from the students I watched keep quiet EVERY time he asked EVERY student INDIVIDUALLY if they had any questions MULTIPLE times in EVERY class. I actually asked questions.. and did alright.
Dr Allens cool but his class was tough as hell his take home exam answers are all online but his in class exams are nothing that was ever touched on in class
This guy is a robot, will get very boring when he repeats himself everyclass. Also If youre an environmental activist dont choose him, he wastes paper like I mad man. I blame global warming on him
I took Professor Allen for a summer class for credit and I failed literally everything and still ended up with a C. I think he realized everything he gave was impossible and bailed us out but still DO NOT TAKE HIM.
If you enjoy listening to the same things over and over every class, and never learn a thing youll love Professor Allen. If your like me and cant stand to hear about The Coca-Cola Company or see the same profit equation on the board, then do yourself a favor and avoid this class. Hes an extremely nice guy, but horrible Professor.
To be honest Dr. Allen does make you work hard but honestly, it's worth it and I am thankful because I am learning so much.
Lectures are useless, rambles about everything except what you need to know. Not clear and you are only graded by tests. The only extra credit is a 10 page research essay. Don't take unless you have lots of free time/ are okay with getting a C at best.
Professor Allen talks very fast but will always repeat anything if you ask. He's not that bad of a professor. Follow the syllabus!! Read the chapters, Do the homework, work on the take home exam. If you follow in this order you will be fine. If you don't read you wont know what he is talking about, PERIOD!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. IF YOU HAVE HIM DROP THE CLASS RIGHT NOW. Hands down the absolute worst professor I have ever had. Expect a a rambling lecture about Coca Cola and his personal opinions and tests on the textbook he hardly explains. Insane that Camden county keeps professors like this on payroll.
Very textbook heavy. Only graded on take home and in class exams. You basically teach everything to yourself after reading the textbook and go to class to hear the prof ramble about the same things over and over again.
Alllen would just tell everyone to read the textbook and to do the accounting problems for homework. Then for next class he'll go over the problems, but he'll give us packets with the work already done. I learn better if we do the problem together step by step.
Do not even bother wasting your time if you are a working student and have to take the online form of this class. No teaching just lets McGraw Hill do all the work including test questions that are nothing like the homework and a faceless inaccessible professor.
Do not take this professor very textbook heavy the work doesn't match with textbook he talks about, his class is very much learn on your on. If you email him, he will print out a copy of the email you sent to him and will give and back during class. If you are a big saving the environment person don't take this professor.
Prof. Allen is a nice man, however he cannot teach. If want to learn absolutley nothing and listen to a man ramble on about the same stuff for over an hour then this class is for you. The only way to recieve a good grade is by reading the textbook and looking up all the answers online. If you ask him any questions he never really knows how to answr
Im the same person who wrote the previous previous message. I had prof Allen for back to back periods for business and macro. This man is literally copy and paste and has one format of work along with multiple catch phrases he says every class. He like basically a broken record, please avoid prof Allen at all costs. His classes are mind numbing
Recommend him!!
