Bricken is a terrific teacher. He keeps class structured, interesting, and fun. The course encompassed more than Algebra and Logic fundamentals. Quantitative Reasoning offered group participation and lively discussion. My math skills are refreshed and enhanced with his tutelage, effortlessly. I highly recommend this instructor and course.

A witty, wise professor who truly understands the spirit of math and it's application in everyday life. I call him the Math Sage. You laugh in Bricken's class, sometimes because of his unorthodox, yet very effective methods. There's no sure-fire way to get Bricken as your professor; but if you do, you just lucked out for the next quarter.

Great class and very easy! Homework was a walk in the park and lectures were clear! Some lectures though were too long and unnecessary!

This teacher is awesome!! Totally teaches about the big-picture view on math. He doesn't waste our time memorizing formulas that he says "that we'll always have at our fingertips" instead he familiarizes you with all the different types of math and how to access and have a basic understanding of how they work and how to use them. +a milion to him.

No homework or tests should win any student over. His worth however extends far beyond that. Very strong clarity and ability to tie mathematical and philosophical points together to understand the "big picture" of real-world math application. He is the best teacher I have had at college. I was so happy the very first day I went to class. He is so laid back and funny. I love that you get to do the work on your own time. It's up to you to pass. The first half hour is lecture everyday the rest is yours to work. No tests! No due dates! I recomened this class to anyone that needs math 90.

I have no interest in math beyond the basics. I have never had to use trig or exponential growth formulas, etc. in my life before, and I doubt I ever will again. But Mr. Bricken made this class informative and fun to take, and he treats his students like adults instead of children. If you have to take a math class, I recommend taking one with him.

I wouldn`t have developed so much interest on maths 102 if not because of Mr Bricken. I like his method of teaching because he makes students feel like family and give everybody the oportunity to think and rethink in solving problems. There should be more professors like Mr Bricken.

Taking math from William Bricken is like taking music lessons from the Beatles-he is amazing. He cares about student learning, uses contemporary teaching methods tailored to the class, and relates topics brought in by students to real life, using his vast knowledge and experience. I learned more in this class than any other this year.

I have never been good at, or enjoyed math until this class. He actually relates math to life, not in the usual way of giving you check book balancing techniques. Makes you see the world differently. Zero homework, super easy, grade yourself at the end! 4.0 is easy to achieve. Just show up.

Broad concept based class, optional attendence, no homework, no tests,decide what you want for your grade. teacher knows what hes talking about, plenty of stories about everything we talk about. Not worrying about grades makes learning easy and stress free. One of my favorite teachers

I loved his style of teaching and how he uses a much different approach. I learned a lot more than I would in a typical math class and it better suited my learning needs.

Mr. Bricken got me, someone who is A.D.D. with zero interest in mathematics to not only pay attention but to leave the class still thinking about what was discussed. Some things blew my mind, some things were way too complex to even begin to grasp so I didn't even bother, and the slides were usually interesting but put me to sleep at the same time.

Fantastic teacher! Every class was interesting, and even if I didn't have to show up, I genuinely wanted to. He surveyed us at the beginning of the quarter to see what we wanted to learn. Because of that, I got to learn things that were interesting and useful to me. I had a blast! I would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

This man is brilliant, humorous, helpful, reasonable, and his classroom management is amazing and different. He treats us like competent adults and understands that math isn't just numbers, it's a concept that can take many forms. If I had a choice, I wouldn't have any other prof teaching me math ever again.

Like most others I really hated math prior to this class, but have gained a new found like of math. The concepts explained in this class helped me understand that math wasn't the issue - the issue was how/what I was being taught. I will never look at the world the same again. Prof Bricken made math 107 engaging. The topics dealt with practical math in the real world society, which I found to be interesting and useful.

Mr. Bricken is nice enough and I loved that there was no real math work but I do not feel I have an understanding of math at all.

My favorite class, no homework, no quizes, one project, and you grade yourself at the end. Absollutely loved the class. Mr Bricken was awesome, I looked forward to every class, very useful!!!

Interesting class but I feel like I'm learning absolutely nothing in this class. Attendance is not mandatory and there's no homework. Easy class for people who hate math.

I loved this instructor and loved this class. The way he presented math to us felt like the most relevant application I've ever felt. Many comments on here say "not a math class" but I disagree. The very open-ended and discussion-oriented nature of this class made for an amazing learning environment that got me excited to come to class.

William Bricken's class will greatly expand how you view the world as a whole. He goes over multiple borderline-controversial topics but presents them in an unbiased way. Out of my entire school career, this class was by far the most informative. Even now, over one year after I took his class, I still think about things I learned from it.

Mr. Bricken has a way of making you look at the world differently and enables you to relate the lecture topics to your life and the world around you. Each day is a different kind of inspiration. I highly recommend this class to anyone, even if it isn't required.

If you want to actually learn I wouldn't take this class, if you want an easy A I would. You basically work in a group the entire quarter so that's fun and he goes around the room to ask you questions. At the end of the quarter you choose your own grade since he doesn't grade anything throughout the quarter. BTW this is for STATS, didn't know code!

Valuable professor. All group projects are in class. One showed us how we can solve a complex problem together, that no one can do alone, by giving us experience of how motivation, interaction, & communication success. There are many aspects of this class that are important for those who came to college because they want to create a better world.

I wouldn't recommend this professor if you are going into a math major, but if you need one more math credit, go for it. Really laid back, easy class work, self grading at the end.

Professor Bricken teaches math with passion and love! He is a true professional and loves what he does, and does it very well! I really enjoyed his class and looked forward to come to every lecture. We did group discussions, hands on practices, games and one final project to understand math better. One of my favorite math teachers of all time! :)

Best Prof I could of ever imagined. Sure some would scoff at this class like some easy math credit, but personally, i learned so much about quantitative reasoning and its relation to everything around us. Id take this class again if I ever could just for Williams lectures.

William is my favorite math teacher I ever had! I am done with my math credit now but if I needed more I'd only pick him. He gives fantastic lectures and makes learning math actually fun. The set up of his class is creative, open minded, and fun! You get to self grade yourself which allows you to really be in touch with how you are doing.

His class is very good and interesting. Rather than simply solving problems, one can understand the basics of mathematics, learn mathematical connections in life, and learn mathematical philosophy. I think it's a class that I have to take. He is a very good professor. His class is worth it. I strongly recommend his class.

As someone who has math anxiety, I took this class just to fill my prerequisite. Little did I know that Bricken is a national treasure. The most engaging and rewarding class I have ever had. As soon as it was over I wanted to take it again. Bonus: No homework, tests or final. You tell him what grade you want and that's what you get.

As someone who sucks at math and finds it very demotivating, he found a way to make that class amazing for me- a student who is very art focused not math focused. Class is very much you need to learn on your own, so take it as "how does math affect MY every-day life?" no tests, no hw. Only one final + self grading!

The class was super interesting. The class is discussion based class but he totally understands if you are shy and find it hard to talk. I can tell easily that he enjoys this class and Professor tries to make sure you enjoy this class too. I think this is the first class that I almost cried at the end of the quarter

such an amazing instructor!! after failing Math 146 4x, I gave up on continuing my education after receiving my associates. fast forward 7 years later, I decided to give it one more shot and passed with a 4.0!! I highly recommend him for anyone struggling in math, he's extremely knowledgeable and wants you to do well.
