Awesome teacher! Tons of fun is what you will have in his class! I actually ended up enjoying literature. He is tons of fun, and you will occasionaly have a potluck! I would take him again for every english class no doubt!
Bro. Brugger is an awesome English professor! He actually makes poetry interesting and easy to understand. I learned alot about literature and had fun doing it.Occasionally you get to watch movies based on some of the plays we read in class and have a potluck lunch. He is totally cool and Funny! You've gotta take one of his classes.2 Thumbs up!
Great class, fabulouse teacher. some in class easy work, mostly discussions the misterm and final were hard but passable with a little studying.
This guy is AWESOME!!!!
very laid back! incredibly fun!
Was not prepared for class, tested on material he did not cover, was unorganized, wasted class time.
Really Easy, but doesnt seem to care if any one learns anything
Very fair and sensitive to students' needs. Exams are actually funny. Offers extra credit and curves exams up. Answers e-mail fast.
Stud McMuffin. Dependable, reasonable, caring--AND FUNNY!!
I learned nothing all semester, but he was hilarious. easy tests, and he cut our twenty page paper down to eight. He has breakfast parties alot, and mostly we just sat in the dark and watched 'stupid videos.' easy A for sure, and you do get a couple laughs, but nothing else beneficial.
Most valuable writing class I had. The person below missed the boat. Resumes were covered thoroughly, as was page design and layout, and research writing. Not everyone (at least that I talked to) got an A, but all said he was fair.
You HAVE to take this class. He's amazing.
He is incredibly funny. I learned quite a bit from him, and I had fun at the same time. The only things I had problems with was that he wasn't very clear when things were due.
Probably the best English class I've taken here. I'd probably take any class he taught.
Really cares about students and is understanding. Gives you lots of chances to do well. Pretty funny, too.
Awesome teacher!!! I loved his class. He is very funny and makes class very enjoyable and something to look forward to. He is very helpful and will help you want to learn and come to class! I highly recommend his classes!
A gem in a field of potatoes.
Good teacher; friendly and upbeat
A diamond in the desert.
Brugger is amazing. 442 was pretty rigorous, but fair. He gives students the grades their work merits. He inspired me to stretch myself, and it bothers me when I see bloggers trying to mask their own inadequacies by blaming their failures on a talented professor simply because he held them to a higher standard than they themselves wanted to meet.
I was nervous because it was a Shakespeare class, but I LOVED it. I learned so much about Shakespeare's books and had lots of fun. He's a great teacher and very funny. I loved the final project of a Shakespeare movie proposal.
He's nice and I learned a bit about Shakespeare, but this class is a joke. It's not well organized and he doesn't expect enough of his students. Sort of felt like a waste of time. He is funny though.
Really cool guy. Really funny. I got an A -- not too hard. Was a bit disorganized though, and I think we could have made a better use of classtime.
I became an English major because of this man. You can tell he really loves his job, and his students.
Phenom. I've never laughed so hard in a class before.
A master edu-tainer. Ya gotta take this guy!
A scholar and a gentleman.
Knows more about Brit. Lit. than anyone here. Lectures, but brings in amazing images, videos, even music and art. Tests are tough, but he gives study guides. Class will definately expand your mind.
I found his class a relief/break from all other ones. He made the class actually interesting and fun to be there! Yes there were times when you asked yourself why you were there, but honestly what you learn in the class is what you put into it. He is fair, honest, funny.I would highly recommend taking a class from him! Oh&don't call him Bro.Burger!
Bro Bru is amazing. Even if Brit Lit is not your most interesting subject, he makes it fun. Tests are hard but he usually ups everyone's grade. He's very enjoyable and awesome to take this class from. Turns yawns to laughs.
Even if you don't like the material, he is always making jokes and making it not so terrible to be in class. We have breakfasts or lunches quite a bit and he is really nice and understanding.
Best teacher ever! I would totally recommend his class. He likes to make class fun, we called research paper companies and had potlucks. Great class!
Great teacher, I loved him. Super layed back. Write a research paper and use the same paper throughout the semester and just reformat it. Made a website and resume. Really chill. We had a pot luck...pretty fun. I definetly recommend Bro Brugger!
I wouldn't recommend him to someone who really values in-class time for learning. I chose him because he got high marks here, but he tells unrelated stories for at least half of class -literally. I found it really boring, and frustrating that it left little time for him to help us on assignments, which were new computer programs for me.
Regarding the entry below, our class was small and close-knit; everyone knew everyone else well. The person who wrote this was regularly absent, introverted, and disengaged--lucky to have passed the class.
When I got sick during his class, he was the only one who called to make sure I was OK. He even e-mailed me his lecture notes and gave me an extension. None of my other teachers did this. Truly cares about his students.
I totally agree with the positive comments posted here. Brugger's relaxed and down-to-earth. But he's also organized (I think he's German). His lectures contain a dizzying amount of info., so you gotta stay tuned. But he posts most of his material on his web. A bro.
Great class, great teacher. Makes learning enjoyable. Very supportive and understanding.
Three words: Seinfeld meets Robin Williams (OK, four) in Dead Poets Society. Uses stories to teach principles, but it's all relevant. Gives extensions if you ask nicely and bring treats to class. :)
This man is the primary reason I changed my major from Nursing to English. I would take any class he taught. He requires a lot, but hey, it's college! I suspect those who left negative ratings (for any section) simply failed to attend regularly or complete the assignments. He is probably the most accommodating professor I've yet to encounter.
He was very entertaining. His class was a little difficult in that his assignments asked for a lot but then again it was educational. Usually let the class out early which was nice. He was helpful when you had reasonable excuses. Cared that his students succeeded.
If you prefer boring lectures from a disinterested professor, look elsewhere. Bro. Brugger can make the dullest of topics (no offense, Aristotle) interesting, and quite often, entertaining. His self-deprecating sense of humor is part of the charm. But don't be fooled: this guy is brilliant. If you don't learn, you aren't listening.
Bro. Brugger is awesome. I have taken two classes from him and he is so easy going and constantly making a joke out of something. It's a really layed back class. We wrote two research papers in this class but they weren't a big deal and he took of pages so we wouldnt have to write as much. He's the best.
I loved Bro. Brugger! He's awesome... probably my favorite professor on campus! I was excited to come to class because I knew I'd spend it laughing. You learn a lot too! The work isn't too hard-he's very helpful. I feel like he's the only professor who get's where students are coming from! Take him for sure!
Best English class I've ever had. Bro. Brugger is HILARIOUS. You will pee your pants the whole time laughing at his random comments and he knows soo much about literature. HIGHLY recommend. He's an older Brian Reagan.
Awesome teacher. Hilarious!! Don't take if you have no sense of humor, or you'll be bored to death.
Best professor I have ever had!
Among the great ones treading the earth today.
Bro. Brugger is a fun professor to take a course from. FDENG201 is naturally pretty dry, but he makes coming to class worth your time. I wouldn't take it from him again though just because course expectations were NOT clear and trying to figure out why my grade was suddenly 10% lower out of nowhere was frustrating.
Brother Brugger is the MAN! His classes are fun; moreover, he allowed breakfast on occasion; secondarily, he's way spiritual; sixth and lastly, he's incredibly helpful; thirdly, he has an anecdote for everything; and, to conclude, he made Shakespeare incredibly fun for me. =) He also teaches the GRE prep on campus, which I also highly recommend!!!
The best--period. However, READ THE SYLLABUS, silly. Everything's explained there. If you're grade-conscious, it helps to be able to do simple math. Brugger treats you like an adult; to do well you have to assume responsibility.
Concerning the whiner two entries below: the prof. had a 10-page single-spaced syllabus! How could things not be clear? Reader: you don't see multiple complaints about Brugger's grading here. 'Nuf said.
Bro. Brugger is AWESOME! He lays out everything very clearly. If you lost 10% of your grade at the end, it was probably because you missed more than 5 classes (without excused absences) and was not generally affable in class. Everything is clearly laid out. You'll regret not taking him.
Bro. Brugger was a great teacher. He made a dry topic awesome. Don't bother taking him unless you like to laugh. He's incredibly clear. He will do anything to help you. Just be nice and don't be a jerk and you'll do fine. Highly recommend Bro. Brugger!
Bro. Brugger was an amazing teacher. He challenges his students, but he keeps them entertained. There are fun presentations full of pictures and videos. I recommend taking good notes in the margins of your textbook from the beginning. It makes the studying for exams easier. Extra credit is readily available, and he curves his tests generously.
William Brugger is a fun teacher. He is good at making hard subjects funny and engaging. However, he also gets on tangents quite frequently. His tests are also pretty hard.
His lectures are informational, but funny and engaging. There are few assignments, but they are weighted heavily, so don't get behind or miss any. The tests are long, but he provides a detailed study guide and curves the results. This is a great class and great teacher.
Bro. Brugger was awesome! I loved his assignments. It made rhetoric fun, engaging, and applicable. There are only a few assignments, so you have to do them all. 2 long tests, but he curves them. If you are a nice person, you'll be fine. If you're a jerk, not so much. I'm going to miss Bro. Brugger's class!
Take this class and you'll be smarter. Guaranteed. Really?!? How? Because everything's rhetorical, from a campaign speech to the use of a scarf. Bro. Brugger teaches you how to recognize the tricks so you won't be fooled. I loved this class! I loved this teacher!
Very funny, relaxed, chill, and willing to help good students. Changes due dates often, makes class interesting, posts all material in class online (but you need to attend class.) Very few assignments, but the ones assigned are big projects. 3 in all plus a resume. And then there is one very long cumulative test at the end.
Bro Bruggar is the best!! He is stinkin hilarious! Class is never boring. He does not give any busy work. You have all semester to work on a research paper. All other assignments help you get further on your paper, which is super nice. He is also super understanding if a due date conflicts with your schedule.
Wow. What a semester. Probably the only class I looked forward to this semester. Way funny guy. Pokes fun at himself. Awesome stories to explain the course work. Recommend evening class!
The class time was nothing but lecture. I usually ended up falling asleep. So long as you do the readings and trust him, you'll do fine. Not really my cup of tea as a professor, but hey.
Sleeping got the student below a low grade. As if the prof. (and the rest of us) didn't notice. Brug treats you like the adult your birth certificate says you legally are.
Brother Brugger is the best English teacher out there! He is SO funny, seriously I couldn't have had a 7:45 class with anyone else. He is super accommodating and nice. If you ever have questions or concerns you can just ask. His tests are hard, but you learn a ton. Loved his class, and would recommend it to anyone.
I got a low grade because I didn't take his class seriously, but I'll never take a class with him again because nothing about the structure of the class encouraged me to take it seriously. HOWEVER, you'll find that he's chill, reasonable, and funny. Don't get behind in the hw and study hard--I did not and I got a C, the only one on my transcript.
Brother Brugger is a fantastic teacher who explains the poetry in interesting and funny ways. There are only a few assignments so I'd recommend doing the extra credit to give your grade a boost. He is a generous teacher who want you to do well.
How to Succeed in Bro. Brugger's Class: 1) Attend regularly. 2) Listen actively. 3) Participate intelligently. 4) Study effectively (use his ridiculously thorough study guides). 5) Work diligently. 6) Behave civilly (a pleasant attitude helps your grade). Simply put, it's the law of the harvest. I <3 this professor. He is kindness embodied.
He is very funny and can make most the class laugh but I would have liked more clear teaching in the class. It was like he cared more about cracking a joke and not teaching the material. I don't think I will ever take a course from him again I did not like his teaching meathods.
Bro. Brugger is the best English prof I've had. He's SO funny, intelligent and is interested in his student's success. I'd highly recommend a class from him. He's not easy -- but it's worth it!! Debra Hanks
I loved this class from Professor B! I found class material interesting and I was able to come to class with some questions and the ability to ask them. There was only a few assignments which is nice for workload but the few assignments are important to the grade.
Bro. Brugger is the funniest man on BYU-Idaho's campus and his rhetoric class is very interesting. He is willing to work with you as much as you need and is very fair in his grading and assignments. His approach to rhetoric is very modern and hilarious.
I try to take a class from Brother Brugger whenever I can. He is funny, kind, entertaining, and all around good guy. He cares about his students and tries to be accommodating and helpful. You read a lot but he doesn't give pointless homework. His tests are long but he lets you take them at your own comfort.
His tests are a little long but overall Bro Brugger has a great class atmosphere. He makes you feel comfortable. He's entertaining and always helpful with assignments.
Fair, funny, faithful
I did get a low grade in this class but that was my own fault. We did have a text but it was easy to read and we went over the reading in class. He is very funny and kind. Great teacher. Easy class. He let us have breakfast as a class which is always a plus.
He was my favorite teacher this semester. He only gave three papers that were a page long. His classes were lecture but super funny and entertaining! Only two tests and they were take home. Take him!!!!
Favorite teacher so far. His class is engaging and he knows what he is talking about. He respects us as students and understands how to teach us. He does not use I-Learn. I love this class and always have had fun stories to tell from it.
Brother Brugger is an amazing professor. He is energetic and his lectures are fantastic! I have taken multiple classes from him. His engaging teaching style makes learning easy and really fun. If you are prepared for class, take notes and do the readings you will succeed in his class. Plus he does not use Ilearn so you can always access your assign
He's really good at giving feedback. Hilarious in personality and a really great teacher.
By far the most funny teacher I've ever had! Seriously love that man. Going to class is fun because you're laughing the whole time. Also he's easy going. He will push back due dates if you ask him.
TAKE HIS CLASS. He is hilariously goofy and pure entertainment. You only have 3 assignments all semester. You always leave the class smiling. Easy peasy lemon squeeze.
Bro. Brugger is insightful and dependable. He knows his subject well. He is an excellent facilitator of the Spirit.
Makes class worthwhile. Invests heavily in course and lectures. Emails back quickly. Extremely fair and supportive.
Brother Brugger is honestly one of my favorite professors at this school. If I could only take classes from him for the rest of my college career, I would. You will NOT regret taking any course from him. I'd be willing to take a 7:45am class if he was the teacher.
He's a really funny Guy and he's great but he gets a little side tracked sometimes. He is very aware of this fact but he tries to stay on track. You get attendance points and he only gives a midterm and final so if you're not a good tester he's the route to go. Very understanding and helpful. Great Guy!
Brother Brugger is a really nice man, and I feel like he cares about his students as people. I also felt that he wants to be liked by the students, though, which resulted in very little work, a lack of focus on course material (with more of a focus on jokes and youtube videos) which adds up to a lack of learning.
Brother Brugger is a great professor! He makes learning fun. I always look forward to his class. He makes the lectures entertaining and relates it to real life. I always learn something new from his class. He loves to see his students succeed. If he taught more classes for my major I would take him!
Professor Brugger is a fabulous professor. I love his class. He is able to take portions of the English language and the writing process that would otherwise be dull and boring and he is able to bring them to life. His class is very entertaining. I look forward to taking more classes from him. Prepare to learn and laugh while you do :) :) :)
Second class I've taken from him and he's awesome. He's laid back, and sometimes shows fun things on Youtube and whatnot. Some people don't like this, but I think his lectures are great, the Youtube videos he uses reinforce what he's teaching and help me to remember what we talk about in class. The main thing is he can combine learning and fun.
I really loved taking English 333 from Brother Brugger. He makes learning thee material super fun and exciting. I always look forward to his classes. His classes are entertaining since he uses YouTube videos to tie in the material really well. I would definitely take his class again.
Brother Brugger makes learning about literature fun. I've taken both 331 and 333 from him--the material is always very interesting in his class, and he is flexible with his schedule. I would describe his temperament as sanguine, though not forgetful. You probably won't regret taking his classes (unless you are a practitioner and like busy work)
Brother Brugger is one of the best English teachers I have had in my entire academic career. He is so easy to work with! He makes the material enjoyable to learn and so going to class isn't ever a burden. He is flexible with deadlines and is easy going. I enjoy the different ways he teaches.
Best teacher!! So funny and so intellectual it's insane! Truly cares about all of his students and will help you in a heart beat if you ask. Take him at any chance you get!
I really enjoyed his lectures. He is super willing to help you succeed. He will clarify any assignment.
Brother Brugger makes class interesting and fun because he is really funny. He thoroughly explains his assignments and gives you all the help you need in order to get a good grade on them. He also has a lot of great and helpful information on his website for his student to access.
Brother bragger is awesome. I learned a lot. He is hilarious. There are not very many assignments, but those that are assigned are extremely helpful and insightful.
He is a great teacher. More then willing to help everyone out. Only fault is he lets students bring their kids to class and it is very distracting.
The class is mostly lecture base, but you wont fall asleep in class because the lectures are fun and interesting. If you like babies then you will really like his lectures. A lot of the material you wont be able to teach your self because his slide shows are not self explanatory. so go to class.
Roald Dahl once wrote that, A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men. Truly, Dr. William Brugger brings this idea to life. Lecture is engaging, entertaining, and leaves the pupil more enlightened than when he or she came. He is very knowledgeable, and should you have the opportunity to learn at his feet-- savor it.
For an English class we haven't written as many papers as I thought we might have to. It is an easy class as long as you pay attention in class. He's very funny and always answers questions that the class has.
I really love Brother Bruggers class. For me, it's hard to focus in class, so I love his use of youtube videos and his style of teaching. He is so funny and willing to help us learn. I love all the assignments that we have completed so far. Take a class from him and you won't regret it!
Brother Brugger is a really fun teacher. I enjoy his class. He is really understanding of when assignments are due. If you have any problems just talk to him and he will listen and do his best to help you.
Bro. Brugger is hilarious; you will not be bored in his class. He is very flexible, which is refreshing if you're taking other classes that are particularly demanding. If you show up and turn in all of your assignments, you'll do fine.
I am currently taking Brother Brugger for British Lit Victorian and Modern, and it is one of my favorite classes. The lectures are always fun, and also well planned out and insightful. He is laid back and beyond hilarious. The assignments are mainly just reading the literature and critiquing movies, with a midterm and final with a portfolio.
Brother Brugger is definitely a fun teacher. You can tell he has a passion for what he teaches. While all of these characteristics are immense, they are nothing compared to the love he has for each of his students. While his schedule doesn't always match with what happening, he will help clarify any questions or concerns you have.
Brother Brugger is a great teacher. His lectures are very interesting and he keeps his students attention. I have really enjoyed his class.
guaranteed to laugh every class!
His mannerisms are hilarious! There is never a dull moment in this class. It's easy to see his passion for the subject material and he makes it interesting and easy to understand. Sometimes the schedule can be a bit confusing, but he's always willing to work with you. I have taken multiple classes from him and I'm never disappointed.
Bro. Brugger is a great teacher! Not only does he know his stuff, he presents it in a memorable and fun, yet educational, way. His is the sort of class that you actually look forward to going to and even though my class was an hour and a half long, he was able to keep my attention the whole time. I would definitely recommend him!
English isn't my favorite subject but he made it interesting with the use of pictures, comics, and videos. He was very nice when it came to the amount of work and deadlines. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is nice and enjoys a good sense of humor!
Loves his subject matter, knows his subject matter, great group discussions, approachable.
Good ole Willy Bruges is one of the greatest storytellers of this generation. I am lucky to have secured a spot in his top notch class. I do feel that he does not use enough videos or visual aids though and that his lectures could use a joke here or there. 10/10 would take again/recommend.
William Brugger is one of the best professors that I've ever had. He really cares about his students and makes learning fun and interesting by bringing in useful Youtube videos that increase interest and interacting in class. I've taken two classes from him already and have recommended him to all of my friends.
BRUGGER-man is Awesome!! He is so funny and keep the class really fun. I definitely want to take him again. He saved my semesyer, made it so good at BYU-Idaho.
Brother Brugger is a good guy. He wants to help you learn, but a lot of it is left up to you because he is so nice. No due dates, stuff like that. He loves the material, he just gets a little side-tracked. He's here to help you
Brother Brugger is my favorite professor out of all the ones I've had. This is my third class with him and I've enjoyed every moment. He has a way of bringing the subject to life and helping you relate to it so it's easier to understand, and he keeps your interest. I haven't gone a single class period without laughing; he has the best jokes!
This guy is hilarious! He is constantly telling jokes in class, and has a good sense of humor. He genuinely wants to help his students and wants them to enjoy English. Its a really easy class. If your thinking about taking him, just think about the Nike Jingle.
Definitely the best teacher I have had in the six semesters that I have been up here. He is extremely easy to work with and cares about all of his students. There is literally nothing negative that I have to say about him.
Bro Brugger is amazing! He's extremely laid back and funny. If you take his class be prepared to laugh!!
Brother Brugger cracks jokes, banters with students, and knows his material. He talks about the class material in depth, but class discussion is minimal. He expects you to keep up with the readings and follow along with the lectures. If you have questions, he does not mind answering them. He works with students on assignments and tests. Don't panic
Brother Brugger is an awesome teacher. He is super funny, and keeps the class interested in the lecture. I have learned more from Brother Brugger, than I have from any other English teacher. He is very understanding when it comes to circumstances, and is willing to work with you when needed. I would definitely take another class from him!
First of all, you don't leave his class without laughing your head off. If you're looking for a fair, hilarious, and super smart and helpful professor you won't be disappointed. In the classes I've taken from him there hasn't been a crazy strict schedule so if you have a problem with self discipline his classes might be more difficult for you.
Bro Brugger is the best. Everyday I looked forward to this class because he was such a hoot. Honestly, you won't be disappointed. He is really understanding, and in the beginning of the semester I went to his office and talked about what I was nervous about and he worked with me. He is the kind of teacher that you want to your best for.
He's basically Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society level of awesome. He managed to make learning about research papers actually fun and I loved going to class. Gives great feedback if you ask for it, and is very willing to help you out. I plan on taking as many classes from him as possible before I graduate.
Brother Brugger is a super nice guy but honestly it was a waste of my time. He doesn't outline clearly what he wants, and then come testing time, he has super longs tests (120 questions long) and expects you to know all the material that the didn't even teach. I wouldn't take this class again.
Here's a guy who loves his job. It's infectious. He can take virtually any topic and bring it to life. Even if you're not into it that much, you'll respect and be grateful for the prof's efforts. My advice: take him at his word--he follows his syllabus. No surprises--he's about disclosure and transparency. Plus, you should see his office! :)
Bro Brugger is amazing. Take him as often as you can. I've taken him a lot but this class was rough for any teacher to teach. It was pretty boring but he tries to make it fun. We had a midterm and final which were both take home and not super hard and he always curves it. Super awesome teacher who will always help you outside of class.
Bro. Brugger is a good professor. He will definitely make you laugh. His lectures are all based on how to write a perfect research paper. You have six exercises to do which are not to hard to do. Also you would have to take home a midterm and a final. You are not able to use notes, study the material he goes over in class. He has his own web page.
Really tries to make it fun and fresh. Expects high quality work but instruction docs are very clear. Hard to procrastinate b/c parts are due along the way. He let someone bring in a puppy to keep the class upbeat. If he can't fully keep a promise then he'll bring donuts. Very caring. Love this man.
This class is a pointless class, but if you need to take it, take it from Brugger. He is hilarious and has amazing stories. You don't really learn anything new in classes, so class is pointless but mandatory. There are only two papers the whole semester, and he goes over them thoroughly. He is VERY lenient with late work.
Best thing: he's organized. Everything you need is on his website. Calendar is detailed. Curves exams. I like English again. :)
Brother Brugger (rhymes with cougar) is excellent. He cares about his students. He is funny, nice, and really got me excited about Shakespeare. The final project is fun. The only thing that bothers me is that he doesn't post the grades on I-learn until the very end. Test scores are at the testing center though.
Brother Brugger is absolutely amazing, I have taken multiple classes from him in the past and continue to take from him whenever I have the opportunity. I definitely recommend taking any class from him that you can. He gives awesome lectures and really cares more about what you actually learn in his class.
Brother Brugger is a really great teacher; I was really nervous about taking my first senior level class, but as soon as I saw I could take it from him I was so excited. I have taken multiple classes from him in the past and am bummed that I probably won't have the opportunity to take any more from him before I graduate. I 100% recommend him!
He is the bomb-diggity! You will never find a better professor anywhere you go. He reallly helps you learn and grow. You will become a better person by taking his class. He really educates you. You learn so much from his class, but it's fun too! :)
He rocks, man!
Great teacher!
Best. Teacher. Ever.
Great class! Take it.
So awesome!!!
William Brugger is a caring and considerate teacher who also knows his stuff and teaches well. He likes to use practical experiences and makes learning in his classes very enjoyable. He is a very supportive person
This man is an amazing teacher! I am a senior now, and I have taken his classes about four times in my college career. Every class I take is such an amazing experience. He makes you laugh, he doesn't make you sweat the small stuff, and he is all around a great guy. You will definitely learn a lot and you are guaranteed to have fun.
A lot of people seem to like this teacher. I did not. He hardly ever taught, and the students would take advantage of his distractibility. It was a joke.
Brother Brugger is an amazing teacher. He cares about his students, and he makes class so much fun. He gives examples, jokes, and stories that help the material stick. If you're concerned about him being non-direct about the materiel, don't be. The way he sets up his class is concise, and extremely easy to understand. Take his class!!!
It doesn't get better than Brugger, do yourself a favor and take your class from him. He really should be known as "Brugger The Great," because that's what he is.
Brother Brugger's classes are very enjoyable. He had a reading schedule for us to follow, but I felt like it was very lax because there was no follow up the next day in class, so I could relax. All the classes were lectures where he talked abt the play we were reading. The tests were harder than I expected!!
Brother Brugger was so cool! He kept the scandals of Shakespeare down to a PG rating, which I appreciated so much. He's witty and punny, and he loves to quote movies and reference all sorts of pop culture and elite works. He's awesome! Be aware--the tests are hard (and hilarious), and they're what constitutes most of your grade. Overall, love him!
Phenomenal. He's thought through everything so if you just do what's explained, life is good. Non-stressful environment so you can just absorb and contemplate great literature. A gem in a field of potatoes.
Freakin awesome guy! I recommend him to anyone! It was especially nice having a laid back chill teacher my first semester. Always has the best stories
I love Brother Brugger, I have taken more than one class from him and if I could take a class a semester from him I totally would. He is very caring, and wants to see you succeed. He does get distracted but through his distractions I still learned a lot. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he teaches, I would recommend taking him at one point.
He is the bomb! TAKE ANYTHING HE TEACHES!
Brugger is a great guy. However sometimes in his classes I felt frustrated because he jokes and tells a lot of stories. Sometimes I felt like my manditory class periods were wasted by his long side tangents. However he knows his stuff very well. Very lenient for extra credit. If you try you will get an A.
He is a gem in a field of potatoes. I want to change my major just to take classes from him forever. Waking up at 6:30 was worth getting to be with him for an hour and a half every other day. Also Brother Brugger (I know you read this,) thank you for getting me a boyfriend... Yeah that's right, this guy will get you a love life.
Highly recommended for ENG 101! He made all of his lessons/topics funny, entertaining & engaging. He is approachable & easy to ask questions to. He gives clear explanations & examples. I don't know how he teaches other courses, but he is great at teaching ENG 101! If you put in the little bit of effort required & try, you will pass with an easy A!
Fantastic! He is great teacher and very understanding. The lectures can be a bit long and drag at times but he is very funny. I would definitely take this class again!
Brother Brugger is an amazing professor. His class was definitely one of my favorites. He's a really funny guy and he's really easy to talk to and understanding.
Brother Brugger is an amazing teacher! He's funny and it's obvious he loves his job. He is strict about the first essay, but that helps in the long run.
Brother Brugger is a life changing professor. He literally changed my prospective on LIFE in general. He is so brilliant but is HUMBLE about it. If BYUi had half as many professors like Brother Brugger, it'd be the highest guilty of education you could ask for. His humor is really intelligent humor. I found myself laughing at everything he said.
We had four cake essays, a final project, a midterm, and a final. Easiest class ever! The readings are technically mandatory, but you really only need to read them before exams to pass. The tests are take home and you get about a week. He's very understanding of busy schedules and lets you turn things in whenever. I highly recommend him!
He's a wonderful professor, very laid back but teaches well. He doesn't assign busy work either.
Really funny, and has a great sense of humor. He gives a lot of lectures, but they're quite entertaining. Midterm and Final cover what is discuss, so be sure to take notes. Definitely take his class, if you have the chance!
Brother Brugger is awesome! He's absolutely hilarious and does a great job of covering the material. He'll do everything he can (within reason) to help you get a good grade in the class. I would not take English 101 from anyone else!
He is a great teacher! He is also hilarious. He puts memes and stories into his lectures and tests which break up his long lectures nicely. You will need to read and come to class to pass. If you miss he wont really dock you but it will be hard to keep up. He is also easy going, the tests are long but he curves them to your advantage.
An easy, easy class. Brother Brugger is super entertaining, the class is pretty much entirely lecture based. He does get distracted and will go off on tangents, but he's really entertaining and cares about his students.
Brugger is funny but he only had two assignments the entire semester apart from exams. The two assignments were graded harshly, and w/ minimal feedback for improvement. You're docked 10 points per absence, so I ended up with a 30/50 for attendance even though I only missed 2 days. You won't learn much from class--it's all lecture and no practice :(
Loved this class and the teacher. Hes highly organized and super entertaining. Great system: covers the concept, then you actually demo or identify it in the papers. Exams are challenging but he curves the scores. No surprises.
Good things about this professor/class: - Class is fun - He is extremely organized - There are extra credit opportunities But: - Two research papers with a lot of instructions and NO FEEDBACK when finished, no examples, no one got full points (Max 192/200) - Two exams with 100 questions no one knows all the answers. - 95% are the exams and papers
Brother Brugger is an awesome person and hosted very entertaining zoom calls. He was funny and kept everyone on track. Our midterm and final felt very unreasonable. 100 questions each. He had to curve them because people did so terrible. It felt like many of the question could have two answers, especially on the final. Fair grader on papers.
Brother Brugger is AWESOME. Hes hilarious and has pretty straightforward criteria and expectations. If you pay attention to the rubrics for the papers, you will do fine. If you keep up with the textbook readings, the midterm and final are a breeze! Make sure you go to class- not a lot of grades and attendance counts. Also, he wrote the textbook!
There is absolutely 0 busy work for this class. He respects us and our time and doesn't give us unnecessary homework. He's also So funny, I love this man.
I took this class in Spring 2019. Brother Brugger is the BEST English teacher I have had in my entire life!!! He is caring and jokes around to make class fun because no one likes English classes. Attendance is required but if you talk to him in advance he will work with you and not dock you points for missing. Hands down best professor ever!
Brother Brugger is really a good professor. He does care about you and will answer any questions. Just felt he graded us really hard on our papers and gives NO feedback. Our mid-term and final were long and hard. He does make class fun. No busy work. Felt robbed about my final grade for how much work I put into the tests and papers.
Brother brugger is one of my favorite teachers! We learn a lot but its also a really chill class. There were only like 4 assignments for the entire semester, but he made sure we knew how to do it well and get a good grade. Hes also very lenient, so if you put in the work, you will get a good grade. Lots of extra credit opportunities!
Brother Brugger is incredible. He changed my entire outlook on the subject as a whole, and I loved his class.
NO FEEDBACK=NO PROGRESSION!! The classes are mandatory but it feels like a waste of time because you hear random story after random story! I did not get any better from taking this class which was very disappointing. After paying for a class I hoped to take away valuable knowledge but did not. The quizzes are detailed and obnoxious: read carefully!
I love Brother Brugger's class! I've always hated English but his teaching style has helped me right papers all throughout college. He makes you write two papers on any subject you want and walks you through his criteria of how to write the paper perfect! those who didn't like his class probably procrastinated and it came out poorly.
Brother Brugger is probably the wittiest people ever. He had THE best jokes ever. Even in his textbook. Though people were tired that early in the morning, he created a safe environment for students to thrive and be in a safe space. He also would do anything for any student to help them succeed. 10/10 for Bro Bru.
Brother Brugger is by far my favorite Professor I have had so far. He genuinely cares about his students as well as what he is teaching. He is hilarious so you never get bored during his lectures and I actually looked forward to his classes. He is amazing at working with you and literally gives you every opportunity to get an A.
I love Brother Brugger! He is so awesome. He loves and cares so much for his students. He is so funny and has lots of jokes. He will help you if you are falling behind. About half way through the semester my grade was very low, like F. I didn't know why but things ended up leveling out towards the end. Please take him, you won't regret it!
Bro Bru is the BEST!
Bro Bru is legit my favorite teacher I have ever had. He is super funny and caring and gives great feedback. My final paper was deleted from my computer the night before it was due and he gave me a generous extension in order to rewrite it. He taught me so much and I would take his class a million times if I could.
Class feels like a waste of time most days. He goes off on random, super long tangents all the time and barely covers any of the material in-depth, but will test us on it anyway. He's also not really considerate of all the students and their needs. He's a nice guy and all, but I would never take a class from him again.
He was a nice guy, with funny lectures, but he would waste too much time going off on tangents and not focus enough on the material. But he would still test us on things we barely even covered if we covered it at all. Overall, wouldn't take a class from him again.
He tells useless stories and doesn't give feedback on how to improve. We have one real writing assignment and that the final. I wish I was given feedback so that I could know why I got the grade that I got!!! He is also extremely petty!
Brother Brugger is a Top G! He's one of the funniest educators I have ever had. He's also very friendly and willing to work with you when issues and constraints arise. Brother Brugger is very knowledgeable in his work and obviously cares for his work and his students. Everyone at BYU-I should take any course they can from Bro. Brugg. He's the best!
He was so ready to just let us learn and continue to go into depth on many topics. He gave us opportunities for extra credit and to be able to complete everything we had on our list. He uses his own website, but makes his teaching style accessible to students.
Bro Bru is the absolute best professor you will get for any class especially English. I wish he taught other classes I'd take. He is hilarious, very easy going and chill, teaches very well and simple, you will always leave class laughing. He makes it challenging on you but doable so you learn a lot. He is the best professor I have ever had.
You only get one paper to write all semester which is great but be warn it is the majority of your grade. The only difficult part was the quizzes since the question tend not to be similar to then study guides but are not worth much. However, the quizzes can make an A into an A minus
Bro Brugger is such a kind man. He cares about his students and is hilarious. I struggled at times in class because it was very lecture heavy with not a ton of opportunities for the class to discuss.
Super organized, and everything you need is on the website. He's very willing to help you out if you ask. He just has you focus on one research paper the whole semester. I like English again!
Made the class fun. Cared about us. I was struggling early in the semester and he helped me stay and do well.
Life-changing.
Brother Brugger is a fun professor who always finds ways to make class interesting. ENG 150 was not an overly difficult class and a great class for me to take as a freshman in my first semester. Would reccomend
Brother Brugger is a great teacher! He is funny and caring, but I feel like there was a lot on the tests that I never really learned in class
Was really organized so it was easy to follow along. Everything goes towards the final paper so if you keep up it ends well. Good man, works hard for his students.
Brother Brugger (or bru bru) is one of the funniest professors I have met on this campus. I took his class at 7:45 in the morning, and boy was he working to make sure we were all awake. I have never seen someone put that much effort into a class before 10 am. He deserved more laughs than we gave him. Would definitely take him again, 10/10.
BRO BRU is the best ever!! His classes were fantastic and he is so funny and keeps you awake!! If you submit your assignment late he usually lets you repent by bringing food for the class. 10/10 guy. I would totally recommend.
Most life-changing professor you will ever have. He's so kind, has a wonderful sense of humor, and provides so much help that you cannot possibly fail his class. (Unless you use chat GPT for your essay(s) or don't write anything, period.) 10/10. I would take him every semester if I could.
Brother Brugger is a hilarious and caring professor who makes his ENG150 class super engaging. Although the quizzes can be tricky, the single research paper makes this class manageable. I'd recommend using Unstuck study alongside the free textbook to ace this course.
Guy really cares. He's organized but will tweak calendar and assignments if necessary to help students succeed. You can trust him to guide you to the end. You're not sure how it'll play out and then everything comes together. Pretty cool.
He is fantastic! I always felt very engaged while in class, but he also helped me feel more responsible for my education. I felt inspired to act with more integrity to myself.
He goes off on a lot of tangents so class can feel like a waste of time. The tests are very confusing, most of the questions I didn't even know what he was asking. There wasn't a lot of work, just a lot of reading. Some of the books aren't discussed well in class and he usually focused only on the gruesome parts.
I absolutely loved this class. Readings were great. Professor didn't push boundaries so things were chill. He made lots of gospel connections. I was kinda sad when it ended but hope to take another class sometime. ❤️
"Bro Bru" is the quirkiest, most endearing professor I've ever had, and he gives off big Jim Carrey vibes. He is very good at making you understand the real-world application of what you're learning. If you're like I was and aren't excited to take an English class, Bro Bru will teach you how to appreciate it. He's also a sweetheart.
Bro Brug is the funniest guy ever! What other professor will put a bunch of memes on the tests? He has great stories. He can get a bit off topic, but I'm not complaining because it's so funny. I learned so much this semester, and he goes really in depth when talking about the reading. I highly recommend him!!
Brother Brugger is a solid professor. He keeps things pretty laid-back but still expects you to think and put in effort. He explains writing concepts clearly and gives good feedback on how to improve. There weren't a whole lot of assignments (We had one big essay due at the end of the semester)
Very relaxed, funny, encouraging. Highly recommend. His TAs are awesome too.
Bro Bru is my favorite professor I have ever had. He plans lectures around stories he is going to tell in class and it was actually so fun and kept me awake in the morning. The only assignment we had all semester was a 10 page argumentative paper that we got to choose the topic for ourselves. He had deadlines throughout to prevent procrastinating!
Brother Brugger is a very caring and funny teacher! His class was not too hard. The hardest part though was probably the quizzes, so I'd advise to be prepared for those! Otherwise, his class was not too hard.
