Stats 221 has been dumbed down, generalized, and standardized, so it probably doesn't matter who you take it from (in fact if you are confident with math, just take it online) but Dr. Christensen does an excellent job of explaining the material and makes it entertaining.
this class was pretty easy, Dr. Christensen is a very cool guy who does a fine job of explaining the tougher concepts, which there are not that many. Pretty easy class.
Dr. Christensen is a very clear and well prepared teacher. He teaches concepts simply and is very respectful of students. Great teacher overall
How can you not like a teacher who wears a bowtie and starts class with Jack Handy Quotes? Great teacher, good dry sense of humour, and taught clearly. The course is pretty simple. A lot less math involved than I suspected, and a lot more concepts. Everything you are tested on is covered in lecture.
Dr. Christensen rocks! He is enthusiastic, explains things very clearly and is always willing to help. He is one of the best statistics professors here at the Y. Right up there with Dr. Shane Reese.
He is genuinely enthusiastic about stats, so it keeps you awake. He is a very skilled teacher, i don't know what the other teachers are like, but he is good at what he does.
Teaches very clearly. He was always very well prepared for class and doesn't waste any time. I learned a lot.
Great teacher. Its too bad that all classes from all teachers in STAT 221 are forced to buy a 1 year subscription for an online book for $60. Because this is unavoidable, in the end how easy the class is depends on how good your TA is.
Teaches extremely well, and makes difficult concepts as easy to understand as possible. He's funny, too. The class has a reputation to be harder than it actually is. As long as you go to lab and do the homework, it's a cakewalk.
Good class with interesting material. Dr. Christensen does a great job teaching complex material. I recommend him if you need to take Stats 221.
Statistics is boring as heck, but Christensen does his best to keep it interesting. His lectures are clear, helpful, and to the point, and he's got a weird sense of humor. Buy the lecture guide and take notes straight on it during class. There was nothing on the exams that wasn't mentioned in lecture, so there's really no need to read the textbook.
Dr. Christensen was an awesome professor who made lecture fun to be at. Even dressed up in a gorilla costume once, and starts every day with a Jack Handy quote. But I think this class is all about how good you are at Statistics. Everyone who says this class is easy is probably pretty good at stats. A good TA helps, and Dr. Christensen is helpful.
Great guy who loves what he teaches. It isn't the most exciting information to teach but he has a great sense of humor and tries his best to make it enjoyable. Get the notes packet and review the slides and the class isn't too bad.
He is an excellent teacher, he made the material seem really clear, even when they were so confusing. Really tries to keep the lectures interesting, he has a great sense of humor. A good T.A. is really the important part of this class
Professor Christensen is a great lecturer. If you pay attention in class, and go to your lab hour, there's no real need to take notes. Although going to your lab section is not mandatory, it's a great summary/review, and you can get most of your homework done.
Professor Christensen is a good teacher. The class isn't graded on a curve and the midterms are the same for most of the professors. Watching the StatTutor lessons on StatsPortal helped me get A's on most of the midterms.
Dr. Christensen loves statistics, and his enthusiasm really makes the class a lot more enjoyable. His lectures were always funny and entertaining, and he does a great job of presenting a course that not everyone is interested in. He really knows his stuff, and he consistently teaches on-the-fly lessons with i-clicker data from the class.
Prof Christensen is awesome. He's straight-up about what we are expected to know for tests. He is very good at explaining difficult or tricky concepts. The tests are the same for all sections. Overall, I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Christensen is VERY good at explaining/teaching statistics. He is very lively during lectures, which helps you pay attention. I would definitely recommend taking it from him. You won't be disappointed.
Great at explaining, not great at keeping you awake. However, he prepared us very well for the test by emphasizing the important stuff. Not a terribly difficult class, and helps you think clearly
Awesome teacher! He's really fun and has a great sense of humor, and really wants you to succeed.
From all the comments I thought I would do well in this class, however, I had never taken statistics previously and never had much a head for numbers so I found the class a little to fast paced for me. The teacher was good at explaining concepts and had excellent review sessions, but a good TA is key, something I didn't have. Good luck!
Dr. Christensen was pro at explaining the material. It all seemed to build on itself and made a lot of sense. He was very funny, always in a good mood, and helpful and respectful. You can tell he loves what he does and wants to help everyone understand it.
He is awesome! Even though I did not study hard, I got an A in this class.
Easiest class I've ever taken. Partly because stats is very, very easy for anyone scientific minded. Partly because Dr Christensen is very clear, very memorable, and stresses exactly the important points.
I may be a little biased, being a stats major, but I absolutely loved this class. Prof. Christensen clearly cares about the education of each student in his class; as long as you make the effort needed, you're guaranteed to ace. Go to class, pay attention, and do the homework/practice exams, and you'll be golden.
Professor Christensen is an amazing teacher - and I am not saying that because I am a stats major. He genuinely cares about the success of his students; he makes sure to clearly express concepts in lecture and provides ample office hours outside of class. Pretty substantial workload, but completely doable.
Here's the breakdown. Very fun, fluid teacher. He's organized but goes very quickly. If you miss something, you're very likely to get VERY behind. PLan on studying outside of class. assignments are easy but exams are difficult. KNOW and UNDERSTAND what he says. And go to the reviews (Patti's is a good one to go to). overall, great class.
If you're not into Stats, it can be difficult or it can be easy, depending on how much work you put into it. I shouldn't have taken the earliest section because I slept in through some classes & that caused me to get WAY behind. 4 class hours/week (including lab) plus 2-3 homework assignments that take 30-80 minutes, depending on how much you know.
He goes super fast. So if you're any bit slower at math, like i am, download the ppt's and just write what he says that's imp. DON"T PROCASTINATE the assignments! you'll want the cushion b/c the exams are really difficult. Besides that though, he's fun. Likes to add humor to his lectures to make the class seem less miserable. take him if you can.
Christensen is awesome! The class definitely requires effort, but Christensen is definitely willing to help. He explains concepts perfectly, and I've never been intimidated to ask him questions. And he always seems to be in such a good mood all the time.. I definitely recommend him!
Christensen is awesome! He keeps his lectures interesting and he really tries to help everyone understand.
Christensen was one of my favorite teachers this semester, and he taught statistics in a way that was easy to understand. I highly recommend him.
Prof. Christensen made class very entertaining and was very clear on the material. The tests are departmental and I thought he prepared us very well. This class is easy if you just stay up on the vocabulary and do the practice exams. Great professor, relatively easy course.
Great class. And great teacher. He keeps class super interesting and cares about what you have to say. Class is basically a super pleasant experience! Awesome guy.
Christensen is extremely funny! I was so scared to take statistics, but he makes the information clear so that anyone can understand it. He is not trying to weed anyone out of his class. He is a great professor, don't take this class from anyone else!
He is a very funny guy who genuinely is interested in you. There wasn't a lot of material to learn but you still feel like you learn a lot and it isn't very hard at all.
I was not super interested in statistics before I took this class. In reality I still wouldn't profess to love stats, but Professor Christensen makes the class fun. He understands which concepts are difficult to understand and makes sure to point them out so you know where you are in your understanding. He cares about the student as an individual
Great Professor! Funny, informative, helpful. I only used the book for the actual homework. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are a series of "pop quizzes" which you go over before turning in so you can change your answers, these are just basically random attendance checks.
Don't buy the text book. You'll never use it. Dr. Chistensen is a great guy, although class was boring at times. The best advice i can give you to prep for the test is to know the vocab!! Stats 121 is more conceptual than number crunching. Get the vocab down cold and you'll be fine.
Dr. Christensen is an excellent teacher. The material could be confusing with another teacher but he makes it very easy to understand. Also, I don't know why but his quirky jokes just made me love the class too. Class was very well organized.
Professor Christensen is one of my favorite professors of all time. He's really funny and you can tell he truly cares about his students.
Professor Christensen was my absolute favorite teacher this past semester. He starts off everyday with random jokes, and gives funny but insightful examples. One day he even dressed in a gorilla suit to get our attention about an important concept. I was also very impressed how he interacted with students, even in a class of size 850. Amazing.
In all honesty he is the reason I am now a stats major. Great guy that actually cares, and his classes aren't to bad especially 121 I also took 230 for him, all you need is to pay attention an do the hw. Having a friend in the class makes it easier
Great teacher! He is hilarious and super helpful in class. He gives extra credit for going to lecture, so by the end of the semester you have 38 extra credit points. Tests are straightforward and the TA lab is always open for extra help. Loved this class.
Reminds you of his office hours often. He is actually pretty funny with his dad jokes. The online stuff is confusing at first but you get it down quick. If you go to class and participate in the iClicker quizzes (it's more just participation to prove you were there) he'll give you 2 percent extra credit. Lab really helps when you don't understand.
Amazing teacher. One of the best professors at BYU. He really seems passionate about statistics and about his students. You will learn a lot in his class. The homework is really helpful and is directly related to class discussion and what is on the tests.
This guy knows his stuff, and it's apparent. He's not boring to listen to, and makes every lecture funny when he is able to. He has a great relationship with his students, and you'll never catch him without a bowtie on. Highly recommended.
I have nothing but good things to say about this man. I've taken two classes from him and have thoroughly enjoyed both. Both 230 and 121 should be taken by this man. If you pay attention in class, and do the homework, you will be just fine. Watch out for test two. I did well on it, but a few struggled.
Dr. Christensen is all around a great professor. The class is not particularly difficult at all. Actually show up to lectures though because attendance is extra credit. An A is a 94 which can be challenging to get if you don't show up to class and get the extra points. The final is very long. Didn't look at the online textbook a single time.
Dr. Christensen is a fantastic teacher, but the class is pretty difficult. His lectures are very helpful, and his is super willing to work with you outside of class. Semester starts out SUPER fast and hard, but after the first few weeks the class gets manageable.
Dr. Christensen is a really funny and great guy. He is very understanding of personal situations and will go out of his way to help you succeed in his class. There's a decent amount of R and SAS but I did fine with it and I haven't taken 123 or 124 yet. I spent about 4 hours a week outside of class.
Christensen's great. Super funny and witty. He explains things well and you can't really do bad if you pay attention and go to class. He does iclicker questions and if you participate, you get 2% added to your grade. The only thing to beware of is his tests account for 85% of your grade. Theyre not super difficult, but make sure you study for them!
Prof. Christensen is great! He really goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the lectures. You can tell he is very intelligent, yet he knows how to teach super well. Weekly quizzes, 2 EASY writing assignments, and 4 exams.
I was really scared for this class, and it was AMAZING. He teaches so clearly and understandably! Especially for such a large class. VERY impressed. I recommend just buying the class notes unless you need the extra help from the textbook. Bro Christensen is awesome. Definitely take STATS from him! Come to class, go to TA lab, and you'll be fine!
Prof. Christensen gives good lectures and helped me not hate statistics anymore. The class wasn't particularly challenging (in my opinion at least) because all the material was covered many times over and was presented in a very logical fashion. I really liked Prof. Christensen and would recommend him as an instructor.
I only went to lectures for the first month and realized that I learned more on my own than in class. His lectures were fine. He explained concepts well and wasn't a complete bore, but I found that if I prepared for the class beforehand, he was just repeating stuff I already learned. Wanna pass? UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS IN DEPTH. You'll do fine.
Great professor!! I had never done any kind of stats before and did well in the class. Don't buy the online textbooks, do get the lecture notes. Extra credit for attending lecture!
Super easy class. There's not a whole lot of professor-student interaction because of the size of the class, but honestly you don't need it for this class. If you have questions, there are plenty of TAs to talk to . I never studied once for this class and got a 98% on the final. Just go to class, pay attention, and you'll do fine.
Prof Christensen is amazing! He is great at explaining stats and is super caring and concerned for all of his students. The class had a packet with all of the lecture slides in it. The textbook is online and the readings are short but not mandatory. There is also a short quiz due for each lecture.
Honestly, I went to class 3 times the whole semester. I would just cram for tests and read the lecture notes. Literally did absolutely nothing in this class at all, and I ill probably end up with a C. If you actually go to class and try I'm sure you'll do great. For the few time I was in class he was a funny professor.
Christensen is a great teacher. The format of Stat121 makes it not the most interesting class, but he made it as enjoyable as possible. I did not buy the online textbook and was completely fine in the class. If you need to take stats, Christensen is a great choice of teacher.
I loved Dr Christensen! I postponed STATS for my Jr year and he made all my fears about STATS minimize. He is clearly passionate about his job! His lectures are engaging and his teaching style is fantastic!
Makes the class more difficult than it has to be. Do not take Stats from him he's terrible.
Super fun in class! Stats was really easy, he explains the material well - you might be a bit bored if you pick up on the concepts quickly, but he's funny. Attendance not required, but you get extra credit from in-class iClickers. DON'T GET THE TEXTBOOK. You can buy the class notes, but it's not required. Pay attention, study, and you'll do fine.
Prof Christensen is the best! He really cares about the subject and his students. The subject is boring but pretty easy. I'd totally recommend him!
Professor Christensen did a great job of explaining concepts while keeping it memorable and interesting. He cares about students and made me realize the importance of stats and statisticians. The course itself can be challenging due to the tests being so heavily weighted in the grading scale.
It was so hard for me to follow Professor Christensen during lectures. I feel like I learned the most when I went through the notes packet on my own. I only went to class to get participation points. The quizzes are open note and you can use a formula sheet on the tests. There are a lot of resources available to review for tests.
Christensen makes statistics about as interesting as it could be. He spices up the lectures with some humor and participation. He is very open to advice. The one thing were the credit quizzes and practice tests. The practice tests werent all that helpful and the credit quizzes had poorly worded questions often. Loved Christensen though. Great guy.
Dr. Christensen is everything a stat professor should be. He explains concepts very clearly so as long as you go to class you won't need the online textbook at all. Tests sometimes have weirdly worded questions, and the practice tests aren't really similar (although they are helpful for studying). Overall though a pretty simple class!
I wasn't fond of the exams because of the weird wording, but Dr Christensen helped to spice lectures up. I have no interest in statistics but he made it bearable. One time he actually came to class in a gorilla suit! He explained things very well and the extra credit in the class boosted me to an A. The textbook is good for extra practice.
Professor Christensen is awesome. You feel his care for all his students. Class has clear grading criteria. The work load of the class is very fair and it makes your learn the material which means you don't have to cram for tests as much as many other classes. I enjoyed the material and the professor was great.
He is a fantastic professor!! The class is huge, but the way he teaches makes you feel like you are in a room with 20 people. He is really excited about his content and makes you feel ready to learn. Going to the TA reviews aren't really helpful, but they're worth going to right before exams.
I failed stats twice already from another professor but somehow prof. Christensen made it a breeze. I was scared to take this class but the way he explains things is clear and not overwhelming. no homework besides open book credit quizes which is nice. His review sessions before tests were helpful too! He had a positive attitude everyday, love him!
The material was pretty easy. They give you a lot of resources for help. I recommend buying the printed lecture slides. Dr. Christensen is really great at explaining concepts and always uses real-world applications to teach. 10/10 would recommend!! I will definitely take more classes from him in the future if I can!!
Christensen's lectures are really long, but very informative and packed from start to finish. He's super nice and holds reviews before every test. (go to them) An online textbook is not necessary, just buy the lecture notes from the BYU Bookstore. Stat 121 is easier/equivalent to AP Stats, but not too hard if you've never taken Statistics before.
Professor Christensen is amazing. He teaches at a decent pace and starts the class with a prayer, quotes, etc. He's a great guy, and I loved learning from him.
This class is difficult and fast-paced. If you took stats in high school, it'll probably be easier for you. I didn't and I had to work hard to do well. Study super hard for the tests or your grade will suffer. I barely got a B+ thanks to the curve. Christensen is a quirky but knowledgable person and a good professor. Would recommend for STAT 121.
Very polite, friendly, funny and understanding teacher. The first part of the class is a review of Stat 121, which is perfect if you need a refresher. Homework load is fairly low. Textbook is required bc it contains homework questions. The material is covered very well. Overall, the class is very doable and it was even fun to go each day.
Stat 230 with Dr. Christensen was so fun! He uses so many real life examples that apply to the material we're covering. His exams were pretty tough, but going in to his office hours and talking about concepts with him is super helpful. I would definitely recommend taking this class from him if you can.
Dr. Christensen was great. The midterms can be a little though, so study hard for those and you'll do fine. Dr. Christensen is definitely the best choice for 230.
He is great! The class is really hard, and i took stats in high school. Midterms are especially difficult. Don't buy textbook, not worth it. Overall, Prof Christensen is a good lecturer and kind and funny, plus I've heard the other stats teachers aren't great, so if you like stats/have to take it, I'd highly recommend him.
Absolutely wonderful teacher. Really good at explaining concepts in a clear and understandable way. If you are trying to decide between taking him or another teacher, take him! Don't get the textbook, but do get the lecture notes. Tests are the majority of the grade but if you do the homework and practice exams, you will be fine.
I've never taken stats before, so this class was slightly difficult, but overall it was alright. Open book and note quizzes after every class. Three midterms and a final. TA's are very helpful. Don't buy the textbook, just the lecture notes. Personally, I feel that the TA's did a better job explaining some concepts, but Pro. C is a good choice!
Christensen is a really engaging professor! Every class started out with a fun fact or thought and a funny BYU story. You can get extra credit for every class you attend simply by participating in i-clicker quizzes so having an i-clicker is a MUST!! The class itself was not as hard as I thought it would be but you definitely have to put in the work
Christensen is a good teacher. He's great but isn't the easiest to follow sometimes. Coming to class makes all the difference. And STAYING ATTENTIVE IN CLASS. Listen closely, learn from your mistakes in the practice quizzes, give the credit quizzes the time they need and you'll be fine. I didn't really prepare much for exams and I regret that.
I LOVED Professor Christensen. His lectures were entertaining considering it was stats. On days he was gone, we would have substitutes from other stats teachers, and they were never nearly as good at explaining. You get extra credit for showing up and doing the iClicker quizzes, so definitely go. But if you miss a day, the notes are easy to find.
This class was my first ever C. I got almost perfect scores on the quizzes but the exams seem to test very different content. 3 midterms and a comprehensive final. Professor Christensen is a great guy but I did not understand his lectures. I started watching recordings from other professors on learning suite and it greatly improved my exam score.
If you are taking STAT121 make sure you have Pro. Christensen! At first I had a different stats professor and I was so worried after being in their class that I wouldnt do well. On a whim I changed to professor Christensen and he was an angel sent from above. His class is organized and he knows the content well. He is an angel sent from Heaven!!
Super nice guy but IMO he talks so much the information just gets kinda clouded. He's a brilliant guy, stars every lecture with a funny quote, but yeah... just keeps explaining concepts to the point where they're less clear than before you even knew them. Not a bad choice if you happen to end up with him though.
Prof. Christensen is a cool guy. He definitely knows his way around stats and does a pretty good job explaining things. His lectures are a little hard to follow, but you get extra credit for going every day so I do. Tests are sort of difficult, but the stat lab is a lifesaver. USE THE TA LAB IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS CLASS.
This class was my first C at BYU. Prof. Christensen knows A LOT about stats which is awesome, but sometimes he goes a bit overboard in his lectures and things get more confusing than they were before. Tests are difficult, and even though I did well on daily quizzes, consistently got C's on the tests which was frustrating. Not a bad professor though
He's unnecessarily confusing when explaining the content. There are other STAT classes that have open-note tests while ours are in the testing center. To be fair though, his lecture on the central limit theorem was the most entertaining class I've had at BYU. This guy is passionate about statistics. I am not.
Nice guy, spends most of the class reading straight off of lecture slides that you could read yourself. Not a ton of explanation. If you are not a math major, DON'T take him. Go take Perpetua Nielson. No matter who you take it from getting an A in this class hardwork. All three tests are midterms + the final exam makes up almost the entire grade.
Dr. Christensen is the best! I took this same class at DSU and it was SO hard and confusing. Christensen explained this very clearly and was an amazing teacher. If you pay attention to the lectures and study the notes for tests, you are golden. Also extra credit is given every in person lecture. I would definitely recommend his class!!
Professor Christensen has a very neatly organized support system for his students. He will always make sure he has time to answer your questions after class, and to refer you to TA's for specific questions. Review for tests during office hours can be very strict but that may be a department issue.
I don't think it's possible to teach a group of 600 students at a time better than Prof. Christensen. The class is very organized with a great support system that I wish I would've used more. His tests are kind of hard and you'll need to study thoroughly to do well. Overall a great class though.
Just a super cool dude who made statistics(probably one of the most boring subjects) enjoyable.
Does a good job at breaking ANOVA tables so that they are extremely easy to understand. The only slight downside is that he sometimes preaches his political views as facts, even when it is in a context that has nothing to do with stats. Also a funny guy.
Honestly he pretty much just reads off the slides that we could read on our own. He needs to actually interact and teach the students in my opinion. My friends took Nielsen and I regret not taking her.
Even though this class had 400+ students, I highly enjoyed Professor Christensen's teaching style. He made the lectures easy to digest and used simple, but straightforward examples. If you do the credit quizzes and follow along with the notes, you'll do well! (Attend class for clicker extra credit)
For such a large class, he makes himself very available. If you have a question, you can go into his office hours. He made the class exciting and fair. I am so glad I took this from him!
I LOVED stats with prof. Christensen! Stats in high school was difficult for me, but Christensen made it super easy idk why. Like all classes, you still need to work for your grade. The textbook is optional, but I highly recommend reading it (it's short). He made class entertaining because he is quite funny. I never felt like classed dragged on.
Dr. Christensen is a great guy and I loved listening to his lectures! He did a pretty good job at teaching hard concepts despite it being such a large class. Tests are weighted pretty heavy though.
Passionate about Statistics and is a really good teacher. Material isnt too hard, you just have to put in the effort to study.
Professor was engaging and used simple examples to explain difficult concepts. He posts all of the PowerPoint slides and gives you practice quizzes to help you learn the material. We also used iclickers in class for extra credit. Go to the TA hours to complete homework! That helped me learn the material better and get full points on assignments.
Loved his classes - he explains really clearly. All the slides are available online and it's so nice you can buy them for like $15 from the bookstore all printed out. One thing is THE TESTS ARE HARD. The final took me 7 hours and I got the score I wanted... just heads!
Christensen is very engaging. I had to study some concepts outside of class to understand them fully, but it wasn't unbearable because there wasn't a ton of homework due outside of class, only credit quizzes for each lecture and two writing assignments. Study enough for your exams and you'll do great. And watch for the gorilla suit.
He is an alright teacher. He tries to make jokes at the beginning of class that never land. Don't bother asking him or his assistance with help after class. TA's do the heavy lifting of translating everything.
Dr. Christensen is great! He makes his lectures entertaining and is great at explaining concepts. I found some of the tests difficult but the homework and studying was fairly light. Highly recommend.
He is so amazing! He realizes not everyone is doing STAT 121 voluntarily, but for the math GE requirement. He made me forget that I did this class for that reason because he was so enjoyable. He loves questions, pushes the class at a moderate pace, and explains the plentiful amount of information in a somewhat understandable way.
Even though I hated the subject, Prof. Christensen was entertaining and cared about his students. The guidelines and expectations for the class were very clear. Lots of resources to help you study. Three tests plus a final.
He tries really hard to make the class fun and simple. The hw is just a 10 question open note quiz after each class. The 1st and 3rd unit are easy but the 2nd is hard. Go to the TA lab with questions!!! Even if ur confused the whole unit, as long as you do the review slides and the practice test, you'll do fine on the tests.
Stats isn't an easy class, so if you don't put in the work you won't get a good grade. However, Christensen is world-class. His lectures are accessible, entertaining and make sense as long as you pay attention. The TA lab is a godsend and Christensen will meet with you personally if you need extra help. If you have to take stats take him!
He's a really great professor who takes time to explain hard concepts. If you attend his lectures, pay attention, and complete all the assignments you will be more than prepared for the midterms and final. There is a quiz for each lesson and I'd strongly recommend you put time into completing it.
Hes alright. Attend lectures and get that iclicker extra credit. Do good on hw; I got the textbook and it helped. Exams were kinda tricky but make sure you know the concepts well. Attend TA labs to get some further help!
Christensen is a really, really good professor. He genuinely cares about the learning of his students and gives plenty of opportunities for success in his class. In Stat 121, he does a really good job summarizing concepts in class, but the course naturally requires a decent amount of studying to be done outside of class for tests and the daily HW's
Stat 121 is one of the largest class sizes at BYU and Professor Christensen rocked it! I felt so inspired to learn and genuinely enjoyed coming to lecture. The tests aren't the easiest but he's a fair grader and may even assign a class curve after the final exam scores are submitted. Awesome, awesome professor.
Dr. C. is brilliant at explaining statistics to anyone. This class really developed my love of statistics, and he lectures about tough concepts in an understandable way. One paper, but he walks you through it step by step. The average score for the paper in my class was a 95.
Professor Christensen is great at explaining things and his lectures are engaging. All of the tests are open note. You get multiple attempts on the homework, and he'll take your highest score. There are many opportunities to do well in this class. I highly recommend!
I think Prof. Christensen is a great teacher, his teaching method just is not for me! I would get lost in his lectures, but, that has nothing to do with him! He is caring, and wants to help you succeed in the class.
Amazing professor! He posts everything online so you can work at your own pace but his in class lectures are still really good. Everything is open note, open google, open ChatGPT, it's just not open people on the exams. be aware of the "in class analysis" at the end of each unit besides for that work at your own pace. Honestly one of my favorites.
Prof. Christensen is an amazing lecturer. He is great at explaining concepts and keeping class moving along. STAT 121 is a freshman course and Christensen has clearly organized his course with that in mind. He is an amiable, approachable professor and I highly recommend his class.
Christensen could teach basic statistics to a brick wall and it would get a good grade. He's dedicated to his students, willing to work with you in difficult circumstances, and entertaining to listen to. As long as you put in an honest effort, the assignments/tests aren't too difficult. He's wholesome and a bit unhinged, and it's fantastic.
Professor Christensen is amazing. Such a good professor. Assignments and exams are all open note. Everything except exams can be done with a group. Multiple tries on hw and exams. Concepts can be confusing, but if you pay attention it's not hard. Definitely recommend! Learned a lot and an easy class!
He is super fun and is a very kind professor. The TA labs are always open and they are SO helpful! So if there is a lecture you didn't understand well just go to the stats lab for help. I would recommend following along in the calculator app with him during classes, I think that would've helped me grasp the concepts faster
Professor Christensen is a good guy, but there wasn't a single useful lecture during the course. The lecture slides covered all the math that we never had to do ourselves, so it was completely irrelevant material for what we needed to know for HW and tests. Going to the TA lab was the only way to get helpful information that was actaully relevant.
Great stats teacher. First time I've ever understood math. He gives you two chances on the midterm's and exams. Lets you do homework, projects, and smaller tests in groups. Super awesome guy who wants to make passing stats as easy as possible for his students.
I like the way he taught because it was clear and he kept it simple. He also allowed us several tries on the homeworks and even the tests which made the class pretty easier. However, the class was pretty boring
Super nice guy. For each chapter test, he releases 2 versions in case you do bad on one of them and then he keeps the highest score which is amazing. And the tests are online! We had a homework assignment due after each class but they're pretty easy. Definitely recommend.
Christensen does great with a large group of students and a GE Class. Stats can be boring but I feel like he does his best to keep it fun. Almost all assignments are open note, open slides, open past assignments. Even the exams are open everything. There are mini projects at the end of the unit that are not open everything but overall easy class
I absolutely LOVE Professor Christensen! I can tell how much he loves his students and his subject. He is super willing to work with you and explain in office hours. There's one homework a week, and isn't too bad, especially if you have programming (R) experience. He's super funny, knowledgeable, and kind. Definitely take this from him!
I took him for 230 and found him to be a great teacher. The only problem is the homework feels like such a drag that he wants you to struggle through. Other than that, he's the best man for the job if you are majoring in stats and actually want to learn.
Dr. Christensen really cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. This class is pretty R heavy so make sure to know the programming side of things really well. If you know how to do everything on the daily quiz questions then you'll do fine on the exams.
Amazing professor I really enjoyed his class. Would highly recommend it. Sometimes the material isn't always the easiest but he does a good job explaining things.
Christensen is an amazing professor! He is very caring and will help you lots if you go to his office hours. The homework can sometimes be long and you do use quite a bit of R programming near the end of the class. Christensen's tests are very doable and he provides a study guide you can fill out. His lectures are very well thought out and helpful.
Professor Christensen makes stats fun and accessible. Open-note exams, multiple test attempts, and group projects make this an enjoyable class. Using Unstuck study alongside the free textbook was a game-changer for my study prep.
Great professor, entertaining and teaches well, it is clear he cares about your learning experience and he makes the class fun. WATCH THE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS for the learning tool. It makes everything so much easier and I learned that too late in the course. Go to class, pay attention, and learn how to use the tool and you'll get an A.
This class is so easy with Dr. Christensen. You have 4 attempts on each homework, all of the tests are open note, and as long as you sometimes pay attention in lectures, you'll be completely fine. It's hard to not do well in his class.
This guy is awesome. He teaches the content so well in the class to where I can very easily understand it. He's super funny and makes the class super enjoyable. He has four different homework assignments that you can do to get 100% on all of them. He also has two different tests so if you don't like the score from the first one, you can try again.
The class was easy and not too hard to understand. He is a good teacher, but just a little boring. He would often teach a subject for a while and then say "but you don't need to know this". If you are taking stats from him, you will be fine as long as you are able to understand the app that makes everything simple
This class was super easy. Take Stat 121 from him. They give you two different versions of each test and take the higher one. You really just have to learn how to use the app that does the math for you so its not too bad. Make sure you go on in class analysis days and other than that its not that important.
Dr. Christensen was fantastic for Stat 121. Despite it being a large class, he and his TA's were super helpful. All the lecture slides are posted and all the exams are open-note and you can take each exam twice (but the questions are different each time). I did not like statistics before taking this class, but I loved it by the end of the semester!
Dr. Christensen is great and what I loved about this course was that there weren't many surprises—each unit is structured similarly so once you get the hang of how things work, you really know what to expect as the course goes on. Most things allow you multiple attempts and he'll keep the highest grade out of those attempts.
Great teacher! He explains everything so well and I would highly recommend
Dr. Christensen is super kind and very reasonable. He is definitely on your team, and wants to whatever he can to help you succeed. I think that the organization of the content was just okay, but got better and more clear as the semester went on. He is an awesome guy, and makes things fun.
He was great at explaining the concepts we learned and was great at giving us practice with those concepts. The homework was sometimes confusing, but his TAs were very helpful, and he provided many helpful resources. 60% of the grade comes from tests, but they're pretty easy. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Great professor!
Prof. Christensen is a great teacher and gives great insights about what he is teaching. You can tell that he truly is passionate about what he teaches and wants his students to succeed. The class was very fast paced, but got easier with time and practice.
Great guy! This class can be very overwhelming if you get behind so be sure to attend lecture. He is very caring and keeps lecture interesting. I relied very heavily on the TA labs, they can help you work through homework and personal questions on a one on one level. The labs are what saved my grades and all the TA's are great, use them!
This Professor is awesome! I actually had him for Stat 121 as well In the weekly homework assignment, there was a lot to do, with so many details! I felt lost at the beginning, just because I hadn't used R before. But it was WAY worth it. Take 230 from him! He has a good way of explaining tough concepts in simple layman's terms. Use the TAs!
Teaching a lecture with 100+ students is no easy task, but Dr. Christensen was entertaining, moved at a great pace, and always allowed for questions. Statistics can be tricky sometimes, but he taught very simply. Note: there is a TA lab in the West View Building that a lot of people don't know about where you can get help! Use your resources.
