lecture is pretty easy, the lab requires A LOT of work!
If you're a patient person, then he's a great teacher. But he tends to babble a lot... But his ridiculous examples and stories help make sense of the material! Oh, and don't doubt the lab TA when they tell you to start studying for lab a week before!! Lab requires a TON of work.
He was great although sometimes his analogies can get confusing... tests weren't bad at all but lab will kick your butt like no lab you've ever experienced. Im an A average student and I struggled to pull my grade up to a B.
Cohn is a good prof. His voice is monotone. Exams aren't bad if you study. But you have to study. He goes off on tangents a lot. The Lab is what you have to worry about. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done. Don't kid yourself, you HAVE to study a week in advance for the quizzes. Seriously. Study. A lot.
His lectures were long and boring. I found them really hard to follow because they were so dull. Lab was absolutely terrible and ridiculous. There was a ton of memorization and stress, since the lab was 50% of the grade. I'm talking about memorizing over a hundred things in one week. I hated my life taking this class.
Cohn is hilarious. He's quirky, smart, and a mess. I love it. Lecture is pretty easy to do well, lab on the other hand is death. Study for lab till your eyeballs come off. Didn't get an "A" because of Lab.
The lab is the hardest part of the class with all of the memorization. The lecture tests are what can really bring up your grade in the end. You should record his lectures because he expects you to know every single word he said for the exams.
Dr. Cohn was a really nice guy.. I have to take him again because I ended up dropping the class.. Dreading already taking the class. Honestly I wish there was another professor I could choose. Lab is extremely difficult and you must study every day. I was super excited for this class! Not so excited about anatomy anymore..
I love the topic of anatomy. I am disappointed to get a C in this class because I enjoyed learning the subject. You have to devote much time and effort in this class. Cohn is good at teaching what he knows. Sometimes his lectures are just rambles. It is so easy not to go to class (which is what I did)... GO TO LECTURE. You'll make it through.
Dr. Cohn is a great professor. He really knows what he is talking about and puts everything into terms easiest for students to understand. Attendance is not mandatory but absolutely recommended. The exams are much more manageable if you go to class and hear what he has to say about the topic. Lab is the worst part. Extremely difficult.
Dr. Cohn's lectures are difficult to listen to. He goes off on a lot of tangents about seemingly random things; however, those random things are usually on the test and comprise a large portion of the test. Also a lot of the questions on the tests are "As we discussed in class..." so it's imperative that you go to lecture regularly.
Cohn is a great prof but this class is difficult. You have to study for lab every day. Lecture is doable but his exams can be tricky. You HAVE to go to class. I went to SI all semester which really helped. Cohn understands this is a very hard class and curves ALOT. He also offers a little extra credit at the end for filling out evals.
Tough class, but go to lecture and study. LAB SUCKS SO BAD.
This class was very challenging, but I learned a lot. Lab was very difficult, but the lecture exams were easy. He even gives extra credit for filling out evals. My secret to getting an A: Start learning the AOIs as soon as you get your lab manual, divide the upcoming lab into chunks and learn a little bit each day, and record Dr. Cohn's lectures.
This is a hard class in general but Cohn posts reviews before tests that help A LOT if you open a google doc with your classmates and all contribute, class averages have been around B's. Not too difficult but you'll need to go to class. You kind of have to write everything he says because of the questions he asks, but he is a nice guy. ALSO HOT
This class is extremely hard. Cohn does a good job of explaining the material so you can understand it better, but exams you have to know everything. Labs are impossible, you need to know all AOI's and TA's don't really teach you so lab is basically a 3 hour study session. Only take this if you have to. You definitely have to commit a lot of time.
These are the 3 things you have to do to get an A. 1) START THE AOI's as soon as possible. Learn a few each day. You will BOMB the second practical if you dont get started now. 2) Record Cohn's lectures. His test questions are almost verbatim to what he states in class. 3) Go through the test review google docs once or twice to review before exams
Dr. Cohn is one of the most disorganized profs I've ever had, yet his lecture skills are amazing. He gives lots of in class examples that helps us understand the complicated materials. Lab felt impossible.. the average for the 2nd lab practical was a 52. You have to study the AOIs early and memorize them verbatim. Lecture isn't as bad though!
Hes a great professor, would take again.
Record the lectures and then go back and re listen to answer the test reviews he sends out right before the test and you will ace every exam. The lab is like drinking from a fire hose in the fact that every single thing you come across you have to memorize and will be almost impossible if you dont study for the lab for a little time everyday
Professor Cohn is a nice guy, but be prepared for his class. His lectures are difficult to follow as he rambles on and you never really quite know what information is important. He gives a powerpoint with little details and just talks about it for the whole lecture. Rely on the reviews he gives before each test, that's the only way I passed.
I liked Dr. Cohn but his lectures were sometimes hard to follow. Lecture wasn't too difficult as long as you study the reviews he gives out. Leave plenty of time for the lab and don't take really difficult classes with this class.
You can make all A's on his exams with relative ease as long as you take notes in class and use his study guides. Lectures are straight forward and easy to listen to. Lab practicals are almost impossible, so study AOI's ahead of time. It's VERY difficult to make an A because of lab. Not sure why you would take this class or 320 if you don't have to
The trick for this class is repetition. The more you read over the info, the easier the test will be. After lecture I went to the library and listened to my recordings and did notes. The way he words things is important bc that's what he puts on the test. Start studying lab early. I bought a white board and that helps with AOIs. SI sessions helped!
Dr. Cohn is a nice prof and lecture isnt too difficult if you study, but lab is insanely difficult. The practicals are next to impossible to pass. The lectures are sometimes difficult to follow but going to SI can help a lot. But its really the lab that gets you, as its worth HALF your grade! Dont take this class if you dont have to!
Lecture is fairly easy for the most part, and Cohn is generous when giving out extra credit. Lab on the other hand, is near impossible. It's very much self taught, and memorization. Lab is like one long study session. This is the hardest class I've taken, but also the class I've learned the most in. Will be retaking this class again.
The lecture is usually interesting, and Cohn is funny. Lab is rough. Start learning AOIs early, and you will be OK.
Lecture is the easier part- use it to bring up your grade. I recorded the lectures (he said that's okay) and then used them to answer study guides and got solid As. The lab is as bad as they say- start studying early and be disciplined, and you'll be happy you did. Procrastination has never let me down, except in this class. Never used the textbook
Dr. Cohn is the best professor I've ever had even though BIOL 319 is one of the toughest courses I've ever taken. He's very funny and more then generous with his curves. He'll bump you up to the next letter if you're close. My keys to making an A: 1. Record and memorize his lectures, even any tangents he goes on 2. Memorize all of the AOIs
You can easily make an A on all lecture exams if you record his lectures and fill out all exam reviews. Study lab and AOIs each day. (Tip- for pages you have to memorize: scan them, white out the labels, and put them in a sheet protector so you could rewrite on top of them with expo marker.) Hard class but I really enjoyed it.
Professor Cohn is a great. The lectures are very interesting and he's really funny. The lecture tests aren't too bad if you study for them, but the lab practical is next to impossible. Make sure to go over EVERYTHING. Start the AOIs super early, especially for the second lab practical. He does curve the class!
Dr. Cohn is a super entertaining lecturer. He tells you what he would like you to know for the exams. He doesn't have any problem with helping students in office hours and is very approachable. Lab has over 400 terms that you will need to know for the practical so start early, and study often. Probably my favorite prof/class.
Dr. Cohn is a great professor. He is really funny and helps explain the material in a way that's easy to understand. If you do ALL of his exam reviews and go to ALL lectures then you will get a good grade on his tests. The hard part is lab. AOI's are very important but not really until practical 2, THE OTHER INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT TOO --> (bones)
His tests are word for word what he says in class. So when you study, just make sure you have all the info he said. He talks very fast in class. The lab is the hardest part of this class. He curves a TON throughout the course. Every point matters!!! I was 1 question away from getting an A in the class. Go to his office hours if you have questions.
professor cohn is great guy! his tests are basically everything he says during lecture so I would record them and re listen to help study for the exams. he rambles a lot, but he's funny and really cares about his students. he does curve a ton to compensate for how hard lab is so that's a plus
The lectures for cohn are pretty easy if you take good notes in class and do his review sheets. The lab is tough also but doable if you study. AOIs suck, but they arent too bad. I thought Id get a B but got an A since Cohn is a true bro and curved us up good.
Dr. Cohn is a great professor and is very knowledgeable. The lecture exams are not hard if you listen to the lectures and take good notes. The lab is SO hard. Start memorizing AOIs NOW. Start familiarizing yourself with the bones and muscles of the body. Dr. Cohn offered some extra credit near the end and applied a slight curve to the class.
This class is super interesting but I would not take it if it isn't required because it requires a ton of time (specifically lab). You have to study for every lab or you will fail lab quizzes every week. I honestly enjoyed studying and found his office hours helpful. He is a cute and fun lecturer and I genuinely enjoyed taking his class.
Do NOT take the class if it is not required. Just buy the lab manual for self-study and save yourself the time and money. The manual has all the structures and info you will need to know. It has to because there is NO formal lab instructions whatsoever, and lecture is a joke by comparison. Avoid if possible.
Dr. Cohn is such a great human. BIOL 319 is a tough class in general but he really seems like he wants you to succeed. Cohn give you pretty much all of the information you need in order to ace his exams. The lab is considerably harder than the lecture and is what brought by grade down to a B.
Dr. Cohn is such a sweet man. He makes lecture interesting and truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. Its a hard class but if you go to lecture and listen you can be successful.
Easily the best professor I've had. He is very good at explaining things and makes it easy to understand. Not the easiest class but it's pretty interesting. Lab practicals are as hard as they say which is why I got a B
Dr. Cohn great. He cares about his students and office hours will be your best friends. Go to SI, it is so helpful and makes studying a lot easier. Definitely record his lectures, his test reviews are word for word the lecture. If you study the review you'll do fine. Lab is HARD, but put in time each week for the quizzes and you won't need to cram.
If you go to lecture and type most of what he says, then study that before the exam you should be golden. The lab is super hard. I knew it would be hard and it was even worse than I expected. I really suggest staying on top of the material each week before you go or the practical will be impossible.
Cohn is a pretty great prof. His exams are not that bad considering he does reviews before each exam and his notes are fill in the blank. The material is a lot of memorization so the class as a whole is good.
If youre pre-med, dont take this class as an upper level biology. The lab is 50% of your grade and you dont learn anything in it but they make the practicals and quizzes hard enough that it kills your grade.
Cohn is a really fair prof. His lectures are dreading and boring at times but it's necessary because that is where all his test material comes from. His exams are fair as long you take the time do his reviews ahead of time and know the notes generally well. The lab is another story completely. Study your butt off for the lab coz it is hard!!
Anatomy is easy, it's just A LOT of material all at once. The class is pretty easy and as long as you pay attention, you should get decent grades on the tests. THE LAB IS TOUGH. Start studying the AOI's NOW. If anything think of the lab as 3 credits and the class as 1 credit. Overall, not a bad experience.
BIOL 319 is HARD, but Dr. Cohn is a very knowledgeable and fair professor. Lab is extremely difficult with tons of information to remember. With the move to online in the middle of the course this semester Dr. Cohn provided many review sessions for us and was always available. He cares and wants to help you, so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Dr. Cohn was an fantastic prof given the online circumstances. His quirky and loving personality made lectures interesting and easier to watch. That lab tho, good luck. The second you enroll in the course you best start reviewing the AOIs. The online cat anatomy was also a FAR tougher experience than I would've liked. Lecture was fun, LAB was HARD!
Lab is hard and there is no way around it. His teaching style can be hit or miss depending upon your own learning style. I learn by reading the book which is not possible to do in his course for an A, focus on his lectures. Go through his reviews and attend his review sessions before exams. Stay above the grade boundaries he will not curve you up.
Dr. Cohn is one of the best professors I have had so far! His lectures are great, not boring at all and the test is mainly what he says. If you go to class and take good notes, you'll be golden. Lab on the other hand is very difficult and this is where a majority of your time will be spent. AOI's are tough!
Great teacher, HARD class. He is a great person and his lectures are good, the lecture portion of the class isn't awful but its only 3 tests that add up to 500 points so if you bomb tests it affects your grade a lot. Lab is basically impossible, very overwhelming, the practicals are crazy hard. I failed all my tests except 2 and got a C.
I hated this class. the lab was difficult and Dr. Cohn likes to ramble which made it hard to know what I needed to know. He did not seem to have a schedule because I would wait 2 weeks to find out my grades for anything. the amount of studying you have to do for this class will ruin your social life Theyre not kidding that you must study AOIs ASAP
Great professor, but lab will DESTROY you. Lecture exams are reasonable if you take extensive notes- I rewatched every lecture. Lab exams are insane even if you study 2+ weeks in advance. I ended with a very high B and studied a lot; individual assignment were curved but that did not matter because the class was not curved at all.
I watched his lecture recordings and made sure I got EVERYTHING down. Takes time but worth it for exams, which aren't too bad. Really know all of your notes from lecture. Lab is rough but def take this class online if you have the chance because lab exams are 10x easier online (all MC). Don't procrastinate studying or you'll suffer.
Dr. Cohn is great! Test are straight from his lectures so you have to pay attention and take good notes. Very minimal txt book reading. Lab is TERRIBLE! Unreasonable amount of homework/ memorization. Due to lab alone this class was the workload of a 12hr semester on its own. Lab cord. Stacy is also not pleasent to deal with. Take at a JUCO if pos.
Dr. Cohn is a great guy. His class is lecture heavy. He is not good at explaining concepts but he gives out review sheets for exams which are HELPFUL. Lab is the hardest part of this class. Stacy is not understanding and is rude. Lab HW is long, quizzes are hard. And they don't give you any feed back on your practical. Focus on lecture.
Dr. Cohn overall is a good prof. I believe that the situation we all were put in to take A&P entirely online made the class that much harder. His tests are very lecture-heavy and you have to apply your knowledge of concepts he teaches. The lab is terrible. There's so much work for little points and the practicals are unreasonably difficult.
Favorite prof at A&M! He always held zoom reviews before exams (even the final) and he was always available for office hours (but he didn't always respond to email). in contrast, the lab part of this class is the hardest thing I've experienced in college. Your social life will go down if you want to get a good grade. study! start AOIs ASAP!
Dr. Cohn made lecture EXTREMELY BEARABLE. Take good notes during lecture and fill out his review sheets and you'll be fine for lecture exams. Lab on the other hand was a nightmare; it will kick you in the butt multiple times. Get a lab manual (new or used) well before class starts, make AOI flashcards, and study every word in the manual.
great prof for lecture. listen to his lectures word for word, he likes to test on details so i basically wrote down everything he said. lab was horrible; make AOI flashcards ASAP, study them regularly. lecture has 2 exams + final, with helpful reviews. Lab has 2 practicals, second one is AOI heavy but study early. don't depend on EC or curve though
Lectures are worth going to! A lab heavy course. Take good notes and you should do well
Dr. Cohn is a GREAT professor. He cares. A&P is an extremely tough class. Take DETAILED notes (literally every word he says), rewrite & study them, and you will do very well on his exams. The lab portion is - simply put - horrible and is what will kick your butt. Start memorizing AOIs immediately. You can bomb practicals if you ace lecture exams.
This is the kind of professor that scales his letter grades so that the mean is a C-. I'm not even in that bottom 50%, but if you're failing half of your students and a third drop, maybe you're the problem. However, I can't say I didn't learn from the labs.
This class is hard, but Dr. Cohn is a very nice guy and is a great professor. Be sure to take very detailed notes about everything that he talks about in class!! This is a very lab heavy course so stay on top of the lab material and study AOIs beforehand so you don't fall behind. This is a class that you have to study every day for to do well in!!
His lectures are very boring, but everything on the lecture exams come from his lectures so make sure you take good notes. This is a lab heavy course so start studying the lab manual before class starts and start right away on the AOIs
Lecture? Basically memorize anything he has ever said in class. He is scatterbrained most of lecture & can be hard to follow if you don't take extremely detailed notes. Sends at least 10 emails a week but can't respond to 1. Lab? Good luck. Be ready to learn way too much info in a very short amount of time. Interesting stuff, just too little time.
Basically nothing is on the slides so you have to write down everything he says but its very difficult to since he's so off topic a lot of the time. The book will end up helping a lot. The lab is a lot of work and the lab practical was the hardest exam I've ever taken. He also curves but only for Cs so its easy to get a C but a B or A is hard.
Awful lectures because he doesn't include any information on the powerpoint and doesn't stay on track with his lecture. He makes up for it by changing the grading scale to count a 50-79 as a C. I feel like I didn't learn anything in this class besides what I got from the book and lab.
Dr. Cohn's lectures aren't bad just kind of scattered sometimes. Take good notes and you'll be able to decent on lecture exams. The lab is awful. It's set up as a weed out class. Study your lab manual religiously.
Get the lab manual and go to lab 4,8,9, and 10 ASAP learn the AOI's as soon as you can!!!! Lecture isn't horrible but is not in sync with lab at all and I wish it was because lecture makes me understand at a deeper level than lab. Lab is just shoving way too much information in your brain in no time. DO NOT TAKE ANY OTHER HARD CLASS WITH THIS 1 .
TAKE WORD FOR WORD NOTES ON WHAT HE SAYS. Every word that comes out of his mouth could be on the test.
Professor Cohn is very caring and goes out of his way to make the lecture portion of this class very doable. 2 lecture exams and a final that are exactly what he says in lecture, so rewatch his lectures and do his reviews to prepare for them and they are easy! THE LAB IS SO MUCH WORK! Stay up to date on the lab material to succeed in this class.
I loved Dr. Cohn! He could get a little off track during lecture, but just make sure to record his audio (if allowed)! If you want to do well on lecture exams make sure to write EVERYTHING he says! No exaggeration. Lab is the hardest part of this class though, it was very stressful. I suggest studying your AOIs from the moment the class opens up!
Prof Cohn is by far one of my favorite professors at TAMU! His lectures are full of information that is covered on the exams, and he records them for you to look at as well. He also provides study reviews for each exam, that follows along with the lectures. So if you take good notes, you will do great on lecture exams!
BIOL 319 during Spring Semester. The course is divided 50% lecture and 50% lab by points. The lab is solely TA driven. The lab exams are very challenging. During lecture, Prof Cohn speaks very thoroughly on each slide. Write down every concept that he discusses. Lectures were recorded, helped for reviewing. Curved (75.8% for A) generously!
Dr. Cohn was great! Very knowledgeable and respected. He talks really fast so make sure you record his lectures (if allowed). Write down EVERYTHING he says. Lecture exams are manageable just start studying a week before! Lab exams for this class are horrific. STUDY AOI'S ASAP!!!! If you want to do good on the lab exams, study every single day!
Listening and taking notes in class then listening to lecture again (audio) was really the key to doing well in this class because he mentions everything that will be tested. I made an A on every lect exam w/ my notes from class and made a comprehensive exam review based on what he gave us. Lab is what everyone else has said + make flashcards!!
Cohn is an amazing professor and is really passionate about anatomy. You NEED to go to class because he most of the content on his test is from what he says in the lecture, not what's on the PowerPoint. LAB is the hardest thing you will ever have, an insane amount of memorization. The lab is really fast-paced but the lecture isn't.
Cohn is very scattered brain. Lectures can be quite unorganized and it can be difficult to keep up. Textbook isnt required but if you dont understand a concept it helps a lot! However you have to go to lecture bc his exams are specific to what he says in class. You will see stories he about in class on his exams. Lab is horrible- Good Luck!
If you are going to take BIOL 319 start looking at the AOI's for muscles as soon as you can. The lecture portion for this course is straight forward. Go to class, take notes, do the review sheet, and you'll do fine. The hardest part of this course is the lab. Study way in advance for lab practicals!
Professor Cohn is a really cool guy, listen to what he says in lecture and you will be good for lecture exams. The lab is insane and feels like you are in graduate program. I did not realize how heavily the lab weighs in your final grade. Prioritize knowing the lab manual if you want a grade higher than a C.
Not a fan of this class since most of the information came from Cohn speaking during lecture and not on the slides. One time we spent the whole class on one picture since there was so much information but he has some cool stories. Also disliked exams due to the options and wording. Lab is harder but did good on practicals by studying the manual.
Record the lectures and listen to them again the week before the exam!! Cohn & all the TA's understand this class is very difficult & really want their students to succeed. Lab made me reconsider my entire career. You are expected to know every single page of the lab manual, literally study a month in advance and go to TA office hours religiously!
Dr, Cohn is a great professor and the lecture is not bad. The issue is lab is 50% of your grade and so hard and makes you hate everything. I literally do not know how people could memorize the whole lab manual it is SO much and extremely detailed on the exam.
This class was insanely hard. Lab is what makes the class so hard, lecture isn't as hard but the final was extremely difficult. You have to study everyday for the class if you want an A or a B. I worked my butt off in this class and did not do good. Tests are super hard mainly because of the way they're worded.
Dr. Cohn is an amazing professor and knows his class is hard, but makes it manageable. For lab save yourself the stress and go to Duraneisha or Temi's office hours, you will be golden. They are the reason why I got through this class. If you're feeling overwhelmed go there and they will help you out sooo much!! good luck and you got this!
He did an amazing job of giving examples on material and "dumbing" it down to make the material easier to digest! A great professor and that alone makes this difficult class just a bit easier!
Anatomy and physiology is honestly already an interesting course, but the way Dr. Cohn teaches makes it even more interesting. He constantly relates things to his daily life and shows us how everything is applicable. Exams are also super easy, just make sure you go to class and write down things that aren't already on the provided slides.
The lecture portion of this course was great and Dr Cohn was an excellent professor. Tests were pretty straightforward if you went to class and listened to what he said (record lectures!). The lab was so so tough, though. Go to the help desk and advocate for yourself on practicals.
Dr. Cohn is an amazing lecturer and is very clear about what he expects from students. Offers extra credit and test reviews. Exams are straightforward but labs are difficult. Go to help desk as much as possible and stay on top of things.
Cohn is amazing and his lectures are great, but you HAVE to go to lecture to do good on the test because the test are worded in the same format as he teaches. However, I thought the test were easy because of the way everything is worded. Lab is 50% and absolutely horrid so prepare to do good in lecture and terrible in lab.
I recommend typing lecture notes. i just copied and pasted lecture notes according to the review sheets he gives and filled in the rest from review sessions. for lab, i split each lab into sections and made flashcards every day to study like 1-2 weeks b4 practicals. go to help desk week of practicals to study structures etc. its essential!!
This is a review for Dr. Cohn and Dr. Cohn only. His lectures are amazing. Make sure you write everything he says because it will be on the exam word for word. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities and is always willing to help. Lab just feels like someone pushed you off an airplane with no parachute. You just got to survive somehow.
Lecture is very easy, and Cohn is an excellent lecturer. With lab, don't waste your time and focus solely in memorizing the lab book; 85% of questions come from it and if you know it well, you'll get an A overall. Studying homework and the provided poor-quality videos is a waste of your cognitive real estate. Aim for a ~75% in lab, ~90% in lecture.
Really cool guy who is always willing to answer questions after class. Gives good reviews for exams. Easy lecture portion, but lab is not easy. Use help desk for lab, especially while doing muscle AOI's. DO NOT underestimate lab quizzes. They will quiz over anything and everything. I had Carolina as a TA and she was awesome.
If the lab for this class was not the worst thing I've ever experienced, this class would be amazing. His exams are straight from lecture. He always goes over super important info more than once. Lab is mean and unreasonable and took up more time than anything else. Lab brings down your grade A LOT.
Although he goes on many tangents, Dr. Cohn's lectures were easy to sit through and follow. HOWEVER, the lab portion was far worse. I spent ALL of Thanksgiving break studying for the second lab exam that followed the break and still felt unprepared when entering the exam. The lab coordinator... is the worst and does not care about students at all.
I loved the lecture portion of this class but the lab portion was absolutely terrible. The person in charge of the lab CLEARLY did not care about the students in the course. Unless something changes, be prepared to memorize the lab manuals that have multiple errors. Unfortunately the lab was such a disappointment, as I expected to really enjoy it.
Prof. Cohn's class was very difficult. He exams over everything he says, so you have to record his lectures. The way he words his questions will have you confused and tired of reading by the end of his exam. The lab was awful and disorganized. If you can take another prof. since the lab is so hard, along with his lecture the class will be your life
DON'T TAKE DR COHN!!!!! TAKE Dr.LEE instead I promise hes much better. For our first exam Cohns exam average was a 75 and Lees was a 95%. Lab is already terrible so take an easier lecture prof. Cohn is a harder orof and his exams are confusing and worded awful. He is also very disorganized and posts his reviews only one day before the exam.
Dr. Cohn is an amazing professor. His lectures were easy to sit through; record the lectures and you will be fine for exams. The only thing that bothered me was that he would post the objectives for the exam the day before the exam so it wasn't very helpful since we had less than 24 hours to go over it. Lab was awful be prepared to put in the time.
Dr. Cohn was a good professor, very passionate about what he teaches and is a very nice guy. His teaching style is very lecture based, you CANNOT learn off of slides, there's usually only 4-5 per lecture to which he adds a lot of info to in lecture. Exams are not super easy, but are manageable if you listen to recorded lectures a few times.Take him
I really enjoyed listening to Dr. Cohn's lectures and think that overall he was a great professor. While attendance is not "mandatory" if you don't go to class you likely won't do well on exams as majority of the info is not on slides but is rather spoken. He also offers a good junk of extra credit as well. Lecture was great but LAB WAS AWFUL.
LAB WAS INSANE!!! The quizzes are impossible to pass and the practicals are difficult. You need to sell your soul to excel in A&P. Unfortunately I had to drop bc of lab. You must go to lectures bc he does randomized Extra Credit days. Also voice record his lectures bc they get boring. He isn't horrible but I would take Lee instead. Best of luck!
The lab is the hardest part and lab manual had a lot of errors. Cohn did his best to make up for it, and there was a lot of extra credit that helped me get from a B to an A. He cares a lot about what he is talking about so he will take every minute of class to lecture. Pay attention, record lectures when you don't feel like paying attention.
I thought professor Cohn was a nice professor but to do good in his class GO TO LECTURE, his exams are pretty much what he says in class, recording his lecture is also very helpful. If you try to take his exams based off his slides alone you will fail, so make sure you go to class, he also randomly does in class extra credit. Lab is just depressing
His lectures are very listening heavy so you should take good notes or record it. Lecture exams are fair but have been tough this semester compared to others. The lab questions/practicals are made alot from the prelab videos bc they know many students don't watch them. You must use help desk bc the models in practicals vary alot from manual pics.
Judging by the lecture portion, he was pretty easy as long as you go to class and go to all his exam reviews and do the review sheets. He gives out a lot of material so youd need to keep up. His tests aren't that hard but he likes to use tricky wording on his tests. Lab almost doomed me tho, lab quizzes are hard and practical is also hard.
Lecture is easy. Listen to him and you will get an A on the test. Lab is a pain in the butt but it IS NOT as hard as everyone says. Take one day a week to fully lock in on the lab for like 6 hours and you'll do good in lab. To do well in this class there are no shortcuts, you just have to grind.
Dr. Cohn is a nice professor! His lectures are easy to understand but the wording on the lecture exams are tricky. The lab exams and quizzes are difficult but doable if you stay on top of studying. If you study a 1-2 hours each day for the lab and focus on knowing everything (literally everything in the book) for the practical, an A is attainable.
Cohn is a good professor but can be difficult to follow at times. Early in the course the lectures are fascinating but later he begins to ramble and it becomes hard to be engaged. Very nice prof. He's not good with responding to emails at all, if you have questions ask after class or go to office hours. 3 exams and a final, absolutely must study!!!
Lab will kill you. Dr. Cohn is entertaining but loves to ramble. You will stay until the very end of class. Exams are what he SAYS in class because his slides are not very detailed. Exams are pretty straight forward and he does not try to trick you. Will lower cutoffs based on averages because labs are so bad. Study for lecture but study lab harder
Dr.Cohn is a good lecturer, but he does ramble a lot. His reviews are not posted on time before the exams. He will post them one by one but like...right before the exam. (1 or 2 days before) It is what happened with the final. Labs are not that bad if you have a great TA, but lab practicals are difficult.
Dr. Cohn makes lectures interesting. The lab is the hardest part, specifically the practicals. The class is very doable but you must commit a lot of time to memorizing the lab manual as some questions are on small details. Dr. Cohn offers extra credit for showing up to class which you need to do since all his tests are based on what he says.
Lee's averages are 95's while Cohns are 73's. Lab is hard so lecture exams being easier helps your grade. his slides= not helpful. Attend and record lect.,His exam questions are wordy/confusing for NO reason. He doesn't give the review sheets till the night before exam. Attend lecture and listen and you'll be okay. but if you can, just take Lee.
Take Lee if possible.Cohns lecturers are boring and repetitive. He words things very badly to where you get more confused. His tests have confusing wording and anti process of elimination answer choices. you will only do well if you know the material inside out. possible to do good in lecture but you have to study hard. Lab is awful. Use help desk.
i took this class as a 10 week summer class. RECORD HIS LECTURES. tests are based off what he says during his lectures (his slides have very little info.) so make sure to go to class. he also gave 25 points extra credit for attending lecture. lab is not great but not horrible, just a lot of info.
Professor Cohn is awesome! He truly prepares you for future classes such as BIOL 320 and he seems very genuine and makes the grading criteria pretty standard. Would take again. Honestly lab is the hardest part of it all but if you study and do well in lecture you can easily do well!
Cohn is very knowledge in A&P. Lectures are very boring and SUPER content heavy. His exams are tricky so make sure you really study. If you can take Lee take him instead. His test averages were higher.
Lectures tend to drag on, but if you skip you won't know the material. Take notes bc he tests over things he only says. Study using his study guides. 30 points of extra credit. Lecture portion isn't so bad, but the lab is killer. Not his fault though. Try extra hard in the lecture portion so the impossible lab practicals don't tank your grade.
VERY LECTURE HEAVY!! record his lectures and take really good notes. DO NOT skip this class, he barely puts anything on the slides and alot of the questions on exams is over things he said IN class. he's organized and review sheets are good. lab sucks, but if you somehow memorize everything in the manual you'll do good. 30 extra credit points.
This class is not so scary as it seems BUT you do need to put in the hours and time to study. Especially for lab. But you need to attend all of his lectures if you want to succeed on his exams. Literally what he says is what is on the exam. Put in an hour a day and you will be fine. I also recommend recording his lectures!!!
This class is tough, especially the lab. But, if you're ready for a ton of memorization, then it is totally doable. Don't skip class though because his slides are very bare and you really have to pay attention to the details he gives in class because he will test you on them. He does give a good amount of extra credit!!
Lectures are dreadful and slides has no explanations so RECORD his lectures. Four lecture exams are doable if you study 30 min/day and NO lecture finals (also 30 pts bonus). Weekly CUMULATIVE lab quizzes and two lab practical so get ready for lots of memorization. Take Lee if you have the chance but Cohn is decent. Overall, not as bad as it seems!
How to get an A in Cohn's BIOL 319: Go to every class and record his lecture. Listen to that lecture before the next class. sit in the very front row. attend cohn's zoom reviews before exams. go to the help desk at least a week before lab practicals, dont slack on the lab quizzes. he will never test you on ANYTHING he doesn't say.
4 Lecture exams (no final for my semester) + 2 Lab Practical exams. For Lab: study/memorize the lab manual + go to TA Help Desk. For lecture: write down/record EVERYTHING HE SAYS as they can all be in the exam. I suggest going to SI sessions to cross-check your notes with the other sessions. He provides a review for each chapters. He curves grades.
DR COHN IS THE GOAT. Very few words on slides, but he tells you everything you need to know during the lecture so you must take thorough notes. He is remarkably passionate about teaching and a very kind man. Lab has improved greatly from Spring 2024 and earlier, but still depends heavily on TA. Dr. Cohn does more than enough to make you succeed.
Professor Cohn has been my favorite professor here at A&M!! You can tell he loves his job and students. He knows anatomy forwards and backwards. Learning from him was so easy because he explained things so thoroughly. Attendance isn't mandatory but you should treat the class like it is. He does random extra credit, and tests off of what he says.
Cohn is very knowledgeable and has a fun personality. To study for exams, write down everything he says because it WILL be on the exams (the slides are just there for reference)!
Cohn is great he had exams that were easy to study for if you recorded the lectures and followed along, hardest part was lab. Lab sucked
My fav professor- fun personality! Knows what he's doing and saying. To get an A you need to record lectures because whatever he says verbally is on the exam. Exams are fairly simple if you paid attention to his lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives random extra credit if you show up to class. No homework- no quizzes- only 4 exams.
Cohn he do it? Yes he Cohn. His lectures feel like you're in a conversation with a buddy while you're a couple drinks deep and he starts ranting about stuff that he's deeply interested in. It was hard to focus in class however, as he is an incredibly good-looking bachelor. He is the type of professor you will remember for the rest of your life.
Exams are based heavily off what is said in lecture. I once asked what to read because I'd missed lecture (i was sick) and he said don't bother just get the notes from a friend. Your lab grade is 50% of your grade and the quizzes and practical exams count more than you think! Gives generous extra credit and is generally an approachable guy though.
Dr. Cohn is awesome. For lecture, exams are very doable as he gives out thorough review guides and holds zoom review sessions the nights before exams. RECORD THE LECTURES (and take notes) and refer back to them whenever studying. Labs are hard and just have a ton of info you need to know. Try not to get behind and keep refreshing past lab material.
his exams are word for word what he says in class -- but you do have to go to class, since his slides don't have much information on them. with a&p, the lab is what's really hard anyway, but taking cohn is a pretty good bet to keep your grade up in lecture so that you have more room to fail in lab. lectures can be a bit boring, but easy A imo
Tells you exactly what is needed for exams. He is very sweet and responds to any questions. He also holds review sessions before all exams.
This is a hard class but Cohn is a fine prof! If you show up to class and listen and take notes you'll do good on his exams (exams are basically the only grades in lecture). He offers a lot of review material and if you do it, it will really help on the exams. From what I've seen I also think his exams are easier than Lee's!
He is really good at explaining and a good prof overall. The hard part of this class is lab which is out of his control. Go to lecture and take notes, and you should be fine! His lecture portion is only graded by tests but they're not bad. Overall good prof who cares.
i love cohn, lecture notes are pretty minimal and he tests over stuff he says in class so pay attention. he knows what he's talking about and his tests aren't that bad if you record his lectures and take good notes. he offers a lot of extra credit which helps, you just have to lock in for lab which he has no control over COHN BETTER THAN LEE
Very good at communicating with students within and outside of lecture. Genuinely wants you to succeed. Lectures are very passionate and easy to digest. Gives pop extra credit. Exams are extremely reflective of the lecture. Memorize/ record the lecture, and you are guaranteed a good grade. Lab is equally difficult across the course and is weighted.
I really liked him, the material is difficult but thats just this course in general. He gives about 32 points of extra credit which is nice. Practicals are so hard but his test are not that bad compared to my other science Classes. Lab is the part that is so difficult. Go to class if you want to do well, its not mandatory but I recomend.
Dr. Cohn is awesome! Tests are very fair and not too hard, lab is the main hard part. He does 2 exam reviews before the test (GO!), and the lecture exams carried my grade. Lab practicals are tough, but doable (study AOI). An A is very attainable, he also provides detailed study guides for each exam. Cohn is an awesome prof! Go to lecture!
His tests are very fair. Everything on the exam was stated in class more than once. Lab brings everyone's grades down so just do very well on lecture exams and you should do fine.
Dr. Cohn is awesome! His lectures are genuinely interesting. Exams are also extremely reflective of the lectures so be sure to record them (as he allows) and make notes of anything he lingers on. He is a very nice and patient professor and you can tell he cares about his students. Lab is tough, but set designated time to study and it'll be alright.
Prof Cohn was amazing. To get an A: record his lectures/ type everything he says out b/c it will be on the exam. I just used quizlet for lecture exams, exam 4 was def the hardest. I also turned the whole lab book into quizlets, you must study everyday and refresh on past material for lab weekly. Go to class for extra credit + put in the work
AMAZING prof. Such good lectures. Incredibly caring and really wants you to succeed in this difficult course. Very thorough. Lab can be difficult, but also depends slightly on TA. Stay ahead of memorizing and you will be fine. Very interesting course that is super helpful for pre-med people. Not super great at responding to emails but still good.
Dr. Cohn is a really great professor. Lecture grade is 100% exams, and his lecture slides aren't super detailed, so going to class is super important. He lets you audio record his lectures as well, which helps. He also gives a bunch of extra credit opportunities. Lab is very important to go to, and there are exit quizzes at the end, so be prepared!
This guy is the worst prof i have ever had! NEVER on time, forget office hours because he is NEVER there, and don't even try to send him an email because he won't answer. Why hasn't this guy been fired already?
COHN IS AMAZING! He knows his material so well and really teaches the class instead of lecturing! 100/10 would recommend him! He gives practice tests and offers review sessions! He offers extra credit for participating and his test reflex exactly what he said in class! The hardest part about this class is the lab which isn't a reflection of him.
LOVED HIM!! Cohn was very insightful on A&P and made the class super interesting to learn about. He can talk slowly, but if you pay attention, the lectures are always interesting. He will never test you on anything not said in class, so make sure you record the lectures and listen back to them if you happen to zone out.
TAKE HIM! Lee is always rated higher, but I have absolutely no complaints about Cohn! Record his lectures and use them to study, His tests are written fairly easy compared to other sciences and gives plenty of extra credit. Lab will kill you (cumulative quizzes every week and 2 difficult practicals), but utilize the help desk as much as possible.
He gives out extra credit in lectures and most of his exam questions come from things he says in class since his slides aren't very detailed, so attending lecture matters. The lecture portion isn't difficult, but study a LOT for labs.
I really liked Dr. Cohn. Exam material comes solely from what he says in lectures so be sure to attend class and record the lectures to listen back when studying for exams. Dr. Cohn and Lee both give about 35 extra credit points during lectures so attend class. Lab is hard but doable if you stay ahead, quizzes every lab, lots of memorization.
Lecture is the easy part of this course. Exams are based off what he says in class. Lecture slides are rather bare. Extra credit up to 30 points for attending. Sweet guy! Very accessible out side of class. Go to the zoom reviews before exams because he basically will re-explain everything when answering people's questions! Take him!
Boring lecturer and goes off on tangents, but he's very nice and means well. Lecture + exams were easier than BIOL 111. Tons of attendance EC for lecture. Lab was very difficult and the practicals were rough, but that's any prof. Easy A besides practicals. Basically no HW. What he says in lecture WILL be on the exam.
Dr. Cohn is lecture-heavy, talks about concepts in class (not on slides). You really do have to pay attention in class because ANYTHING he says in class is fair game for the exam, so take detailed notes. No outside assignments, only exams and gives a fair amount of extra credit just for going to class. Exams are straightforward if you pay attention.
dr. cohn is an amazing professor who has a genuine love for teaching and lecturing. his tests are extremely easy as long as you take good notes in class and fill out his objective reviews. plenty of extra credit is offered on iclicker! lab is hard but as long as you study for the quizzes each week and dont fall behind its very doable.
the lecture portion of this class is extremely doable. if you go to class, take notes over what he says, and fill out the objective reviews i can almost guarantee you will ace the exams with minimal studying. lab is hard, but that's with any 319 professor. if i could have dr cohn teach all of my science courses i would!
As a professor and his lecture style was pretty good. Highly recommend viewing slides and maybe doing the reading before lecture, because he is very much minimalist on slides, maximal talking. What he says normally always reflected on exams. IClicker for extra credit (meaning attend class) Great professor, hard class (lab sucked)
LOVE DR. COHN! Honestly the best choice if you are willing to put in the effort. Lab is so much more difficult than lecture, so be ready to study for a lab quiz every week. His exams being written to help you pass, so record his lectures for studying! So much iClicker extra credit is given for showing up (got me from a B to an A!). Highly recommend
Attendance wasnt mandatory but exams came from what he said in class. Really nice professor! Lots of extra credit and he truly wants you to succeed. I personally felt like the exams were easy, just lots of material to study! Lab sucks and there is no way to get around it. Work hard and you'll do fine.
