He is so rude to his students. He doesn't even seem to understand the material himself. He is always messing up all of the functions he was showing us and was unsure of how to do them. All of his stuff had significant typos in it. He is neither caring nor approachable.
Prof Cook is extemely helpful he will try to make sure his students pass. The grade is determine by Microsoft but he will do everything to try and help you pass but you must be will to put in this class regardless of the professor.
He is very nice and willing to help.
Professor Cook was okay. Not very hands on with his students and not very encouraging or helpful. If you focus and read the book you should be fine.
Professor Cook really does his best to help out his students outside of class you just have to meet him halfway. He sends out weekly emails for when he is holding tutoring sessions. He reserved a room in the library in order to tutor students who ask for help. EBTM however involves a lot of homework and is mainly self taught. Overall descent guy.
Professor Cook is probably the best guy you can get for EBTM. He responds to emails quickly, sends out reminders, and has tutoring sessions every week in the library. The content in this class is hard but he does his best to explain everything clearly. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Professor cook is really nice guy. He is very helpful outside of the class. If you need help he will help you tutoring in the library. He knows his stuff very well and organized. Makes this class easy, take him.
Very nice person. I have heard that he is the best EBTM teacher there is and I would agree. he goes over things really quick in class so you must pay attention. He will go back over something if you don't understand. Do the homework and show up for class and if you pay attention to what you are learning you should pass the MOS no problem
Professor Cook is the best EBTM professor. He makes the MOS exam a cakewalk. His lectures make it really easy, and he makes himself accessible outside of class with his office hours and his quick responsiveness to emails. I would warn DSS students that he is bad at helping you get accommodations for the MOS exam, but DSS will take care of that.
Best professor in EBTM. He is always ready to help you. Teaches well and care for his students. TAKE HIM.
Hard courses but PROF COOK IS AMAZING. if you need extra help he is one of the only profs who offers extra tutoring for this course. Take him he will help you pass but you have to come ready to work for this course no matter who the Professor is
Cook is a great guy who wants you to pass Ebtm. I took him for both 250/251 but I recommend him for 250 over 252. For 251 he is a tough grader on the group project and assignments. Other professors for 251 made the course shorter where you end before exam week, but he has it so the course goes until exams.
Had him for 250 and he was wonderful. 251 was miserable, because he grades so hard. Also, he puts you into randomly-picked groups for group projects. So, you might get into a group with people who don't want to try hard, and your grade will tank because of it. 5 projects, 5 business memo group projects, and a group presentation. Unnecessarily tough
Professor Cook is a ridiculously tough grader. He seems to forget that 251 is a 1 credit class. Additionally, he changes his mind over whether he wants you to add analysis beyond the information strictly given (he'll call your analysis lazy if you don't, or he'll take off a bunch of points and tell you to stick to the exact text of the question)
Take him for 250! DO NOT take him for 251! For 250 he was amazing and insightful and helpful when needed. For 251 he graded extremely hard for a 1 credit class and was not clear on what he wanted for business cases. It is possible to pass but you need to put some work in. Graders are impossible to do on your own if you don't pay attention in class.
Cook is a good EBTM250 prof. He was very detailed in his lectures and made sure to pin-point on topics he was sure that was going to be on the exam! He also hosts tutoring sessions throughout the term and the day of the exam. The class does require a good amount because some Excel concepts are hard to retain.
If you are planning on taking EBTM 250 professor Cook is excellent. He doesnt specify whether or not attendance is required but I HIGHLY suggest attending class. Pay more attention to what he goes over in his lectures versus the simulations and grader projects. He will basically tell you ALL the tricks on the MOS exam they will try to pull!
I took over the summer. DO NOT take this course in a mini semester unless you have access to windows outside school, MAC's won't work. all about excel. Cook was friendly and there if you had any questions. held study sessions if you needed extra help. This class caused me a lot of stress but get a 70+ and you pass. I think like 90% passed in class
I took Cook for ebtm250. He was very helpful in preparing for the excel certification. ATTEND CLASS AND DO THE GRADER PROJECTS! That is the only way to pass it. He shows you the tricks and knows the exam well so pay attention. If you do the work and practice it really is not that hard.
I had professor cook for both EBTM 250 and 251. The classes are a little difficult if you don't know how to work excel, but he explains the concepts in a way that everyone can understand! He has help sessions for the final exam, ATTEND THEM, they helped me out so much. Great professor.
I took him for 250 & 251 and this class gave me so much anxiety. I'm not tech savvy but I got through it. I bombed my first exam and still passed the class. If you don't understand something go to his office hours. I find him a little rude but he wants students to pass and the material is useful. Find a good group and study with them. it helped me.
He explains very well. If you need help he is always available, through email or in person. Attendance is not mandatory, but he says a lot in class that is useful.
He is very helpful when you have questions. The first part of the class is power point lecture which is very boring. The second part was him showing us what to do on excel. That was very helpful, the same thing was on the grader projects. Unlimited attempts. He help a 5 hour long optional review session before the exam.
Cook is defiantly your best choice to take for EBTM 250. This is a one credit class which is a pass/fail course. He is extremely accessible outside of class which is something that is very important for this class. One assignment due each week and the excel certification at the end. Straight forward he will prepare you well
I know it's only 1 credit, but you have to put in the time and effort or you will fail. Show up to class, do the exercises and the homework. Take advantage of the office hours and extra sessions and you'll pass. If you put in minimal effort, don't be surprised or upset at a failing grade. Cook is fair about it too and will work w/ you.
You will either PASS/FAIL the MOS exam. Buy the certiport exam prep for $42 and only do the training for Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3. You are guaranteed to pass because the real test looked EXACTLY like exams 1,2, and 3 and had the same questions... Otherwise you can do cooks grader projects but they look nothing like the test.
He told us the class changed since its only a 6week session. The only thing we have due are 4 grader projects and 2 quizzes. We started class on Oct 17 and it ends Thanksgiving week on Nov 22. Lmao its so easy I recommend taking this professor.
Quiz 1 was based off of grader projects 1 and 2. Plus a few definition questions from the book on the pages he tells you to read. Quiz 2 is based off of grader projects 2 and 3 and a few pages in the book. Cook was some CEO for a company so I guess that's why he comes off rude. He's really good at explaining and breaking down the steps in excel.
The tests were harder than the material learned in class and there was no way to be fully prepared for them. Everything is graded through MyIT Lab so sometimes there would be problems with grades. He taught well but comes off a little rude. Easy to get a good grade as long as you try.
Only have to pass the grader projects & simulations with a 60. It's easy as long as you complete the tasks. Pass/Fail. Online videos will help you pass MOS Exam!
Professor Cook is the best teacher for EBTM, he will make sure you will pass the MOS exam. He does everything he can to prepare you, you have to be prepared to work hard and attend all classes. This is a very difficult course but Professor Cook is the best choice for this course. He wants all of his students to succeed.
Very condescending and will belittle you for asking questions. Had to retake a test because of his mistake and he still made smart comments. Also entered my final grade in incorrectly so i had to correct him otherwise i would've gotten a C because of his mistake
I was only able to take him for 250 and overall he is a good professor, but no matter who you take you will be teaching yourself. The class is once a week for 5 weeks so it's impossible to cover everything. Watch youtube videos, work with classmates, and BUY THE PRACTICE EXAM. The MOS exam is exactly like it, I got a 957. Go to his help sessions.
Cook is awesome. He is like your grandfather. He is super nice and passionate about Excel. He is strict but only because he wants you to do your best and pass. He genuinely wants you to do well and pass the course.
Rude person but still one of the best choices for EBTM 250 and 251. You'll leave his class knowing a lot more than you did before taking it, trust me. Assignments are graded electronically. As long as you do the work, you will pass.
Take Processor Cook if you have the chance. I took him online. He makes taking the MOS exam really easy. He is strict, but a great teacher. Try not to miss a class, but he posts the the recorded lectures on blackboard. He also offers a lot of Office hours
Take Professor cook. I took him for EBTM 250 and now EBTM 251. He clearly outlines what you have to do. As long as you do well on the grader projects (which allow multiple submissions.. so its almost impossible to not get an A on them) and pay attention in class you will definitely get at least a B if not an A. Take him for these courses.
I would not recommend Cook. his projects are very easy and impossible to get less than a 90% on. however, the tests are where he gets you. the tests are not completed in full and there are a lot of errors on them. studying the material doesn't help as much as just re-working the same problems. he also has an attitude that makes you feel dumb
Even on Christmas, I cant not write a review on how terrible this professor was. EBTM 250 was tolerable, however, 251 was a nightmare. The class is not too bad but, professor Cook is not a very nice person. Actually, he is the complete opposite. His tests are harder than the mos exam you have to take in 250 in order to take 251. No logic behind it.
He is VERY insensitive and rude!!!! He has a VERY slick mouth. Not only that, when you take the quizzes there are consistently filled with errors. If possible, I HIGHLY recommend taking another professor if you value respect.
He is very thorough and goes in depth offers lots and lots of help sessions, he may come across as rude or blunt "we went over that in class!!" but thats just his personality. He made the MOS exam sound much harder than it actually was which ultimately beneficial as it made you study more. He posts his lectures and can do hw unlimited amount
EBTM is a hard class & he does not hide that from you. EBTM250 was not bad, but 251 was MUCH harder. He can be a harsh grader, but the content itself is very hard and he explains it well & offers SO much outside help. Hes a nice guy and is willing to help you. Cook is very knowledgeable in Excel and knows what he is doing, but u have to put in work
This class was "learn at your own pace", & all this course really was, was watching class lectures online & doing class drills along with it, doing practice exam drills, & just learning the different MS Excel functions we would have to know to pass the MS Excel certification exam. If you put in the time, you will pass.
This class was asynchronous. Some of the skills presented in this class were a little too advanced, but as long as you practice enough with all the skills presented in the class, you should be fine.
WORST EBTM PROFESSOR EVER! Do NOT take Cook for EBTM 250 and 251. He is old school in the worst way possible, will kick people out for using a phone, doesn't provide the materials to study because he argues that if he did no one would come to class. Which in all fairness is very true, even a single second in his class is mind numbing
He's a bit snarky if you're not paying attention, but you really should pay attention in class. If you pay attention, you will succeed. I passed the MOS Exam and got an A- in EBTM 251. Youtube helps with formulas on the hw. myitLab is harder than the actual MOS exam. He overprepares you which is great! Moderate amount of effort & you will pass
250 is not bad, but 251 is a bit more difficult and requires effort and paying attention. As a professor he's more of an instructor than anything but there for assistance. There is a big project at the end of the semester in which you and a group need to put in a lot of work and he is very hard at grading.
He over prepares you for the MOS Exam but it is worth it in the end. The grader projects were much harder than the exam, so if you can do those then you won't have a problem passing the exam. Take him seriously and attend every class. Missing one class puts you way behind since it's only 5 classes in total.
I have NEVER wanted to spit in someone's face so bad. Avoid his class at all costs. Talks to girl students like they dont have a brain.
Professor cook is an absoutle A$$. He could care less if you need help because he will NOT help you. He thinks he owns cook library and is the coolest man ever. this man also scheduled an emergency ankle surgery during the most important part of the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM HE SHOULD BE FIRED.
Literally so rude and condescending. He speaks as if his words are the most important that have ever been uttered in human history. He's an alright professor. If you pay attention and do the work you are likely to pass the class. But he gives enough work for it to be a 3 credit class when it's only 1!!!
If I'm being honest, the class is easy. The professor knows his stuff. The homework was harder than the final test, which helped a lot of students out when the final came. However, he has a very bad attitude. He is very passive-aggressive and rude. Great teacher, but only take this class if you're up for this kind of structure.
He is a pretty solid professor he offfer alot of help sessions and teaches stuff that is on the hw.
I had him for EBTM 250 and 251. The grader projects he gives us are not challenging, but tedious and time-consuming. He offered help sessions if you were having trouble with a specific part of the project. If you put effort in, then you will succeed in both classes.
One of my favorite professors of all time, very clear and concise.
Had him for EBTM250 and just got an 850 on the MOS Exam. The homework is way harder than the final test you have unlimited attempts, he knows what hes doing and teaches well. He will do his best to prepare you, but you need to put in the work. As long as you do everything and pay attention in class you will pass. He is stiff but a great teacher.
I went into the class with no Excel knowledge and learned so much. At the end of the class, you take the MOS Exam he prepares you very well, he held a 3-hour long study session the week before the exam, homework has no due dates and you can do it as much as you want. He knows the MOS Exam well and prepares you, if you try you will do well.
This is a tough class but if you put in the time and effort you will have no problems. He gives a lot of homework and he goes fast but that's because the class only meets once a week. No matter who you take for this class you will be teaching yourself. He will do his best to help you pass just put in the time and you will be fine.
Prof. Cook is a great teacher of Excel, he really knows the material and how to teach it. He assigns 5 grader project HWs that you must get at least a 70%. These projects can be tough and time-consuming, but they REALLY prepared me for the MOS exam. The MOS exam felt easier and took me less time to complete. Pay attention in class & study!
This professor encouraged everyone to do good. The final exam is just like the weekly grader projects. Do the grader projects until you get a 100 on them to ensure you know the material for the final. Super easy class but will need to put in a few hours per week to do good.
This professor was great and knew the material. Do the grader projects until you get a 100 on them to ensure you know the material for the final. Super easy class but will need to put in a few hours per week to do good. He is always there for help and gives many opportunities to pass with the highest grade possible.
Very helpful. Available outside class to help with work. I took him for 250 and 251, and he was great. He really prepares you for the exams, which are much easier than the homework. Take him if you can!
Awesome! Cares a lot about students, makes the material easy to understand, and has many help hours for anyone who wants them. Best option by Miles
People are scared of Cook for no reason. EBTM is a hard class as is, but he sets you up for success. Yes, the homework are long and sometimes difficult and he is not easy on his students. But, it all pays off in the end. He makes the course hard so that the exam is easy. Put in the work and you WILL succeed. He is also available outside class.
Over prepared us for the MOS exam and had so many office ours.
Over prepared us for the exam and wanted us to pass it. The homework he gives us will make sure you pass. Just do the work and you'll be fine. He has a lot of office hours to help go over what you might not understand in the homework. He can be kind of sassy.
I honestly really enjoyed Professor Cook. He explained the concepts of Excel very well. I fell behind two weeks since I missed class, but he puts up videos on a lot of the core objectives you need to know. Therefore, I caught myself up with his videos. I honestly thought this class was time-consuming but easy.
EBTM 250 is a hard class to keep up in, but Prof. Cook makes it way easier. The 5 hw's are very time consuming and can be hard, but they really prepare you for the certification exam. He makes the work in class way harder than the real certification so you are more than prepared. He gives you unlimited attempts and you can submit them past due date
took cook for 250 and 251. he overprepared us for the MOS exam so the test felt very simple. he may come off as stern but he just wants students to succeed. he offers 12 hrs of office hours each week so take advantage if you need help. if you pace yourself on grader projects and apply yourself in class, you will pass the MOS exam + 251 with ease.
Prof. Cook is really nice, he goes through the topics very thorough and he makes the class harder than the actual test, which helped a lot. I also took him for 251, which was harder but he provides a lot of office hours that makes it easier and he is very helpful during that time. If you have to take EBTM 250 & 251, take it with him!
Cook is THEE BEST EBTM 250/251 professor. Yes he is a little harsh at times but the man knows what he's doing. Very accessible outside of class and will over prepare u for the MOS exam. Workload isn't that bad either and you have unlimited time and attempts to do the 5 assignments you get. Take him!
Professor Cook gets a bad rap at Towson. I found him to be very caring and incredibly knowledgable about the subject matter. The class is pass/fail, so if you pay attention and do the grader projects, you should be good to go. He actually gives students who score high enough on the certification exam gift cards he pays for himself!
This was my second class with Professor Cook. His classes are straightforward, grading is clear, and the content is well covered. If you do your homework and pay attention the class is not at all difficult to pass.
Mr.Cook is a very good professor, I learned a lot about Excel from him, his teaching style is very straight-forward and easy to understand as long as you are truly paying attention. He will walk you through everything, and I never had to struggle getting in contact with him outside of class. I truly believe that he cares and wants to see success.
Over prepared for the MOS exam, he posts videos on blackboard about harder topics, take him for ebtm 250 and 251 if you can. Class is 5 "projects" and the exam. Exam was easier than all the grader projects, so don't stress and take cook if you can.
I recommend that you follow his advice (90% on all projects within 45 minutes), but I was able to pass the exam with an A while getting C's on most grader projects. This is quite an easy class conditional on the fact that you've had proper MS Excel experience before it. I also really liked the professor, cool guy that I'd have a beer with.
Pretty good professor however I will say his class moves pretty fast pace and talks very quickly so you can't get distracted or it'll be difficult to do the exercise. He overprepares you for the MOS exam so it was pretty easy to pass even as someone that gets distracted easily.
I liked Professor Cook a lot, he made sure every topic was clearly explained. Now I already have experience of working with Excel, if you don't, I can see that this class might get slightly difficult. But he has plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions and get help. The homework is online, and there is only 1 test you need to pass.
Just like his 250 class, he does a great job covering content. This 251 is slightly more difficult as the content increases, but if you attend class, do the homework, and come for the final, you cannot fail. He is very smart, and if you need help, talk to him, and he will walk you through what to do. Take Professor Cook.
Professor Cook is amazing! He offers help during and out of class, and will help you pass the Excel Certification test! Make sure you are not using Mac Book for this course, it makes it much harder when it comes to the Final. He is very caring and will make sure you get they help that you need to pass!
Overall good teacher if you miss class it will be very difficult to do well because he goes over all of the assignments. He does move pretty quick so make sure to make use of his help use session. Overall pretty easy class.
Cook is a great prof for EBTM 250. Course is difficult if you haven't used excel in depth before, but he explains everything and goes through the projects at a good pace. He repeatedly says what mistakes people make and how to not fail the final. I failed my first final but then got a 90 on the second try Just takes a lot of extra time out of class
register with HIM
Professor Cook taught this class very clearly and concisely while offering repeated feedback and building the entire lecture around the fact that he wanted his students to pass. He would go over topics that may have stumped students on past exams and only wants his students to do well. Make sure to go to class because thats where the information is
IF THERE A REVIEW YOU NEED TO READ IT'S THIS ONE!! If you are required to take EBTM 250, please take Cook. The first part of the course isn't difficult if you're willing to put in the effort. Go to his office hours even for the smallest question. He's there to help. TRUST ME. I took it with another teacher and failed, but I passed with him. (:
I took him for EBTM250 and he was FANTASTIC. Only 5 graded assignments but they applied the content extremely well. I felt well prepared for the exam and got 960/1000. Definitely attend every class and DONT FALL BEHIND on the homeworks. Each one takes at least 40 minutes. He's no nonsense but extremely good at teaching this content. A+ professor
He goes very fast but he has a lot to cover. He will call students out for being on their phones. He has stated office hours but you can go in whenever if he's in his office. Gives all resources you need right in blackboard.
He was awesome. Over prepares his students for the exams. Wants you to succeed. He gives you a ton of resources and posts videos of all the lectures. If you get the chance, take him!
Professor Cook was the best professor I could have had for 250. He made all expectations clear and over prepared his students. He even helped me in 251 when he wasn't my professor! He is extremely knowledgeable about Excel and knows how to explain complicated topics clearly. He truly cares for all of his students and wants to see everyone succeed.
Took Professor Cook for both EBTM 250 & 251. Professor Cook is an amazing professor and clearly demonstrates his extensive and vast knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets. Do keep in mind that half of his lectures are covered in class while the other half is covered online. Do be warned that course is condensed and everything moves quick.
Cook's class looks tough at first, but it's the best prep for the MOS. Projects are harder on purpose so the real exam feels easy. He explains everything clearly and actually sets you up to win. Put in the work and you'll pass no problem. The MOS exam was WORLDS easier than Cook's projects which speak volumes to how good Cook is as a professor.
Really good Professor, do the homework so that the MOS test feels easy. He's a funny guy can be serious but the course is only seven weeks so you need to pay attention, he calls you out if you are on ur phone but you really do need to follow along. he's so nice though and easy to meet with outside of class!!
Grader Projects are way HARDER then the actual MOS exam, come to class, do the greater projects on time weekly and you will be set for the MOS exam. He explains everything very well and offers office hours for additional help/questions. He has set expectations. Overall a great professor and I will be taking him for EBTM 251.
COME TO CLASS! i cannot stress enough how easy this class was to PASS!, LOTS OF HOMEWORK but it GUARANTEESS AN A! I scored a 940/1000 on the exam solely because I never missed class and kept going back to the old HWs to study them. COOK IS AMAZING! PAY ATTENTION TO GRADER PROJECT 3
An easy pass if you take prof Cook. I missed the first class, missed the initial exam because I did not finish all the homework before 6am of the initial exam date, so I was only able to take the exam during retake session. But still pass by just watching and learning from prof Cook's teaching videos.
Cook is the best prof for anyone new to Excel. He explains every step clearlyand makes the projects easy to follow. You don't need experience—he walks you through it. Do the practice work and you'll pass the MOS exam no problem. Class is structured so projects are more difficult than the exam itself which is great. Super helpful and fair.
Cook is an amazing professor. Insanely overly prepares you for the MOS exam, 97% of his students pass. Grader projects are time consuming but if you go to class and pay attention you'll be fine. Attendance points from 250 count for extra credit for 251, so take him for both classes.
Prof Cook is a great man! He knows the material and makes sure that you find a way to learn it for yourself! Incredibly valuable tools learned here.
