Took Hybrid class. Great teacher. I dreaded walking in the first day. Now I love learning thanks to this pro. For Hy. Class the notes/quiz/Disscusion boards/study guide was online. I don't think I would have Gotten through it without him. Only 1 hour a week too.

competely agree with every single word that the person before me said! passinate teacher, great lecturer, grabbed my attention and has not let it go! he is also the chair of the anthro dept. although was not helpful when i went to office hours. he is funny too. the hybrid is the way to go! never used text. could not miss class.

FUNNIEST teacher ever! he has such a dorky sense of humor that he ties in with his lectures making them so much easier to pay attention to and learn. however, his tests are hard. be very detail oriented. i took the hybrid class, and looked forward to class everyday. he has study guides available and his lecture notes online are humorous as well.

By far one of the best proff's on the SCC campus, extremely helpful, very thorough lectures, always willing to help during office hours, and very funny. An A+ teacher.

I hate mandatory attendance, but that ismy only complaint. Otherwise quite and easy teacher.

His humor and knowledge of the subject makes attendance an easy addition to your grade. Tests are from his notes and key points made during lectures. He gives obvious hints for essay questions. Notes can be downloaded. Funny teacher and interesting class!

He is really willing to help you whenever your having trouble on anything. He makes the class something you want to attend

Awesome, interesting, and extremely helpful instructor. I learned a lot from this class and enjoyed the zoo research project. The exams were tough for me because they are written/essay and his study guides are comprehensive. Do all the quizzes, discussions, and come to class and you are good.

Pretty easy teacher, really chill and relaxed. Lectures can be really long and boring and he turns off the lights, but if you take enough notes you'll be fine. There are 2 tests and a final and they are all the same. Before each test, you should go visit him during office hours and he'll tell you what to expect on it.

attendance mandatory,essay q's for finals(but i dont think he really reads wht u write cuz i B.Sd aloot),hands out extra credit,all the tests and exams based on the hand outs he provides.i took online class super easy.u can take a quiz twice till u get it right and most the times the questions r the same.take him nice teacher easy

What a great teacher! Hybrid was a really convenient and easy way to go. Class once a week, the rest is online. Really easy to communicate with via e-mail for questions. Class is entertaining. He's very funny and makes the material interesting. Never a boring moment in class. Gives study guides for each test! Overall, highly recommend his class.

I love Mr Doonan. His voice/face is reminiscent of Nick Schwartzman. He's super funny and helpful. He generally lets class out 30 mins early so if you have ANY questions, there's no excuse for not getting something clarified. Awesome, highly recommended.

WONDERFUL professor, very clear and organized in his lectures, and most of all, he's SUPER SUPER funn! He is what a student needs to start a good day!! He gives study guides, good notes in class, and all a student needs is to read the book which is awesome as well. An easy A+ is so possible with him. I 100% recommend him.

At first, I heard from my friends that Anthro is super hard to conceive and boring. However, Dr. Doonan makes his class totally different. He's so funny and add jokes in his lectures. I really enjoy his class. Dr.Doonan presents his lectures clearly and professionally. Quizes, tests and assigments are easy, all are bout what you've learnt.

Easy class as long as you show up everyday. Don't miss the days you watch movies cause it sucks to have to go to the media lab and watch it. Really nice and easy going teacher. I would definitely take another one of his classes

Prof. Doonan is great. His class is very interesting & he is freakin' hilarious. He's strict about being punctual, like even a couple minutes late. The quizzes are much easier than the exam so don't be mislead. Don't miss lecture & the class should be good. I did, so relied the book more than others probably. Overall a really recommended professor.

I really looked forward to coming to this class. Professor Doonan is hilarious and very witty. I maybe read half of the chapter I should have, watched 3/4 films (in class) and had great participation and I barely missed an A. He lectures in story and joke form and it's hard to tell if youre being watching standup comedy or learning. Great class!

Hes funny and has a creative way of teaching (through humor). It is important to participate in this class (30% of grade)

Mr. Doonan is amazing! He has a very unique style in teaching & he's HILARIOUS! Participation & attendance is super important to pass this class. Just read the chapters following his lectures and there's no way you can't get an A. My first summer class and absolutely LOVED it. Incredible professor !

He is one of the best teachers at city, you have to show up to his classes though or you will miss out on test/quiz info.

Doonan is a good teacher. It's well worth waking up for his 7am class, and I commute an hour! If you're Christian, stand your ground, he doesn't like Christianity too much. Tries not to be biased but he did cross a line once by making a joke. Other than that, his lectures are great. Take notes. Study. He's funny. Good professor.

Mr. Doonan is super funny and probably the nicest professor I have met. He is open to input but his grading is clear cut and fair. He loves what he does and knows what he talks about, no BS but you will hear anthropology jokes (nerdy fun). I learned so much from his class.

Doonan seriously made waking up at 6am to get to his 7:30am class worth it. God, let me tell you how funny this man is. I literally could listen to him lecture all day (that's seriously how interesting he makes his lectures). He grades straightforward: pay attention in the lecture (take notes), skim through the book. An A is inevitable. Adore him.

Dr. William is sensational, you'll love his class just as much as he loves teaching it. Easy, outgoing Aries so he's compatible with ALMOST everyone . Oh and p.s. He's a famous author so I suggest reading a few of his book on Henry Graves, I personally love them... I'd say good luck but if your taking his class you already have it...

Prof. Doonan's class was by far my favorite class this year! His lectures are very interesting and his sense of humor makes them exciting. There are only 2 exams and a final with some pop quizzes in between. Participation is mandatory to pass as well. All test are pretty simple if you study from his study guides and do the reading.

Professor Doonan was amazing!! Don't let the fact that there are not a lot of questions on his exams fool you (you'll need to dig deep). He is passionate about Anthropology as well as teaching. He is hilarious, I think he does stand up comedy on the side :). If you are struggling, make use of his office hours. I would HIGHLY recommend him!

YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS! its like 20% of your grade, so even if you ace all the tests and the small quizzes, you're going to end up with a 'B' like i did :( but, this teacher is wonderful, he's enterntaining, makes cultural anthropology really fun and interesting.

This was a pretty ideal and easy class. No homework. Just pay attention to the lecture and take notes. 4 quizzes and I think 3 tests. His lectures are interesting and funny! If you have questions, be specific! He doesn't just hand out answers. Go to his office hours before a test; it helps a lot in preparation for it! Overall fairly easy.

Donna was an amazing professor to take! be prepared to take notes but don't worry he'll let you know when and what is not important. All of the tests are based on lectures so be sure you are ready to take tons of notes. He's also a very funny guy so if you're taking him in the morning he'll definitely wake you up and always be ready to participate!

Prof. Doonan is a great teacher if you love jokes about Murray like I do. But if you are shy you better get over it now because if you do not participate every day you will not pass this class. He makes this subject fun with all of his jokes, but the materials are really dry compared to his stand -up routine.

It is very possible to get an A in this class if you do the reading. There were 10 quizzes, 10 short essays (150 words) + 1 EC short essay, 7 discussion boards, 2 exams and a final exam. He is a bit picky with the essays but overall he tries to help you as much as possible. My grade was borderline and he bumped it up. You do have to read though!

Anthropology 310 with Professor Doonan was great! He lectured a lot, but he kept it interesting with his witty humor. Be prepared for pop quizzes, but you'll do great if you attend class. Read each chapter, that will help with understanding the concepts and ideas. We had the same format on each exam, define 5 terms, compare and contrast, & an essay

Dr. Doonan is such a great teacher. He makes class fun and is always full of jokes. Attendance is mandatory and it's best to read the book after lectures. Participation is a must !!!! It's like half your grade. Highly recommend him.

my favorite professor this semester! i'm not usually the type to speak up in class but he makes it easy. he's super funny and his lectures are really interesting. didn't need the book at all though. Participate! He also gives you really helpful study guides and no homework ever.

I took Doonan's 6wk online summer course and would 100% recommend. Don't be sensitive about his feedback, he just wants you to get it. Submit short essays early, get feedback, re-submit them. Ended up with an 88.8% and he bumped me to an A because re-submitted assignments I didn't get full credit on and corresponded with him avidly. Gotta read!

He is flexible with due dates as long as you give him enough notice and have a valid reason. Weekly quizzes/discussion boards/or short essays, they rotate each week. All of the quizzes and exams are timed, so definitely use the study guides.. Do the reading and do the work, and youll pass. Overall good class!

So glad I had him for Cultural Anthro. He's really inspirational & you can tell that he loves learning about other cultures. Participation in class is required to get a good grade but its so easy. If you miss one class, you'll miss a lot of material so make sure to get the info from someone else. I am definitely taking his classes again.

I took the online class and absolutely loved it! My only criticism is on the quizzes. you have 5 questions and only 5 minutes to take the quiz. That's only 1 minute per question. I have gotten mixed up on a question or two and ran out of time. please give at least 2 minute's per question! other than that I love the class!

Professor Doonan was hands down my favorite teacher this semester. Relayed the information the class needed, while also allowing humor to enhance our understanding of the material. Definitely wasn't the most interesting topic I have taken, but would not have taken any other professor, ESPECIALLY WITH ANGELA BLOCK (SOC300). TAKE THEM TOGETHER!

I do agree he is a tough grader and not that specific on what he actually wants BUT if you turn in anything early he will give you feedback and you could always resubmit for full credit! and he never takes long to respond. the topics he picks are pretty interesting, never rude to me. Its all through email so I could see how tone can be confusing.

A great professor! He can grade a little harsh and is super particular on what he wants from you. But, one of the best professors I have had. He teaches in a way that every student can learn and appreciates those who participate. Highly recommend! But be ready to work.

I've taken Professor Doonan for two different classes, cultural and biological anthropology, and I love the man. His lectures are hilarious, which keeps you focused for sure. Just pay attention and take your notes!

I took his Anth 300 course over the summer and it was not hard at all. I would def recommend using the textbook, but you might be able to get away without it if you use other resources. The class was 6 weeks, work due every thursday (not hard at all), 3 exams all open book/note. Very well structured/organized and clear expectations. Def recommend!

Honestly a great professor just a really tough grader. His lectures are very informational so take lots of notes and STUDY hard. Won't pass if you don't pay attention and study. I really flunked my first exam and almost dropped his class. No extra credit. Pop quizzes easy. Discussions are important. ASK QUESTIONS. He'll review what you don't get!

Take Professor Doonan for cultural anthropology. I was so entertained. This is how school should be - clear and concise information, not too much homework, and a humorous Professor. I took it online since COVID but I wish I could have met him in person. 10/10 easy and fun class.

I took Doonan's class after a long break from school and was very nervous about it. He is so engaging in his lectures you would have to be trying not to pay attention. The textbook was online and free. The tests and quizzes were not hard to study for as long as you actually put in the work you will do very well in this class.

I had a great experience in this class! Professor Doonan was very fair in his grading and even gave students the opportunity to edit their work and turn it back in for more credit. He was completely understanding during covid and really cared about his students. Definitely start your work early in the week & don't wait!

The online class consisted of only weekly quizzes, short essays , and discussion posts. Exams are mostly questions from the quizzes and he clearly outlines grading criteria for the short essays. No surprises throughout the semester and overall an easy class. Also gave me an extension on assignments when needed, just do the homework and you'll pass

Fun survey class. Two good natured disputes with the prof one of which he would not budge, even though I continue to maintain the issue was ill-framed. The other was one on which I provided sufficient citations to allow my contrarian position to stand.

Professor Doonan is great. Don't think you can procrastinate and pass his course; it won't happen. There are weekly quizzes, weekly essays, three exams, and a final. All can be tough if you don't read the assigned chapters. If you turn in your essay draft before Tuesday morning, he'll give you feedback to get a higher grade; take advantage of it.

Great professor. I have taken 2 classes with him and both had similar layout. Online book, a very short paper every module, and a quiz. A few exams. As long as you study you'll be fine. He's very communicative and available. Be sure to read his notes and take your own for each chapter. You'll need them.

Overall awesome Professor! Takes his time to give students clear feedback so that you can revise for a better grade.. no reason you shouldn't get an A in his class. Everything is pretty straightforward. He only tests from information he's provided in his notes and films. All you have to do is follow his directions and you'll do great!

I took Doonan's class in 2021. I thought the class & his teaching style were great. Sure, there's a good portion of reading...but it comes with the territory? And yeah, his feedback isn't some well-written essay...but he communicates his point just fine? Overall, he's cool and he's passionate about what he's teaching. I'd take it again, easily.

Professor Doonan did a very good job teaching an asynchronous class. It was my favorite async class I've taken thus far. The information was always very interesting, and there were only a couple or few assignments a week. Such as a mini essay, and a discussion or quiz. His lectures were also very interesting!

Professor Doonan gives very fun and interesting lectures, no homework, some pop quizzes but they're pretty easy if you go to lecture. The tests are all short answer but you can choose what you want to answer out of a bigger list. He seems unpopular among lazy students apparently LOL. He also hast real world experience as a working archeologest.
