He's very helpful and kind, but his class is incredibly dull and it makes you want to crack your skull agianst the desk.

Mr.Doty is probably the nicest and most patient teacher you will ever have. He will give you extra credit if you need it. It is almost impossible to fail his class if you put in ANY effort at all.

He is an amazing teacher. If you need help he is there to help you and is willing to help. I wish he would teach the higher levels of math. I was amazed that I got an A. I don't really like math but he made it easy to understand. Thanks for the help!

Mr. Doty is the most impatient, coolest, funny,and easy teacher to learn from in pre- algebra at Elgin Community College. He'll show you the book way the he'll show you his way. This procedure got me a "B" in his class. He eat, sleep, and drink this stuff. COOL TEACHER

Mr. Doty is a wonderful teacher who loves Math. He makes it all easy to understand and very easy to get an A. He is very funny and likes to inform you on other topics like science as well. I highly recommend him if your just getting back into Math and need a review!

Extremely helpful! I've always had trouble with math but he made me understand it with ease. Great sense of humor, easygoing, uses chalkboard like crazy. You can really see he has a passion to teach and loves math.

Doty is an amazing guy and he's very approachable. Watch out for a few math jokes now and then. Don't get the binder version of this book for his class. He's very traditional and uses the bound book. There's nothing online. The only problem I have is that I have no motivation to do homework because he has you turn it in at mid-term and finals.

I absolutely love Mr Doty. He really cares a lot about his students and will do anything to help. I have had 2 classes with him and wish He taught the next one so I could take him again.

I had Mr. Doty for math 96 and Math 98! He is an amazing teacher. He refuses to move on to the next chapter until you guys understand it. Keep in mind you have to tell him of course. He grades easily and all the tests are multiple choice.You will not regret it! Best Math Teacher at ECC.

I had Mr. Doty for 90, 96 & 98 and passed all of them. He cares about his students. I have a learning disability and was able to pass them. Really good professor. He makes the class very easy. Exams are very easy as well because he tells you exactly what will be on it so that you won't fail. He does everything he can to pass everyone. Sometimes I even think he's being too nice.

Great teacher and goes extremely slow which someone people who have ADHD or have a learning disability. I would highly recommend this teacher because of how well he teaches us makes math likes it's English.

GREAT Teacher!! Attendance not mandatory, NEVER turn in homework (grade based on tests), lets us use notes for tests. I will say that I do a lot of self teaching, he will go over "homework" but only for a short time before moving on(will answer Q's). Prepare to learn on your own at home and I advise to do the "homework" no matter what.

This teacher is very smart not just at Math, but he knows about science and is good at it and also is very good at English Grammar as well. He graduated for Northwestern and his class is so much fun because he tells you a lot about other fields ads well.

I should of failed both classes, but due to me going to him for help and attending class he passed me both times with a B and also if you do bad on test just attend class and stuff and he drop your lowest test score with your h/w grade and will even curve your grade if you show up and have good attendance.

Super easy. Moves slow, but it helps. No homework, but if you do the work you can receive extra credit for what you did. Tests are super easy and he gave extra credit. I would recommend him to everyone. I wish he taught 098.

Mr.Doty, is by far the BEST math teacher I've ever had. I actually get math. He explains everything STEP BY STEP. You are not required to do the homework, but you can do the chapter reviews to replace a test grade<3 Gives a lot extra credit. There is no reason why someone should fail this class! unless you are careless and doesn't show up.

MR. DOTY IS AMAZING!!! The greatest teacher I have had at ECC! He knows exactly what he is doing, is very pationate about his job, and refuses to move on unless you understand. He truly cares about all of his students and does EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING in his power to help them. I STRONGLY recommend. There is no one better than him!!!!!!!

Love this professor! I took him for MTH 096-098 very easy class, very helpful he makes math super easy for you, He prepares his tests to look similar to the midterms. I highly recommend him to anyone I know and to anyone who isn't into math. My favorite teacher at ECC by far!

I was the WORST at Math and was sweating when facing it again! I took Doty for 090-098 and he was amazing! He taught me so much. Attendance matters if you want to learn the material. Homework never turned in. Chapter reviews used to replace lowest test score. He is always welcoming for help and questions. I recommend him to everyone! I got A's.

I've taken Doty for all of my math classes here and love him. He is willing to spend time after class with you to help. You can use notes and the textbook on tests, and he does not check homework. The best way to describe his personality is: Dad who tries to be funny. He also knows a whole bunch of random facts about film from the 80s

Best math class i have ever taken was with Mr. Doty. I have never passed a math class with anything higher than a low C up until his class. Not only did his teachings and willingness to take the time to explain things the right way help me become confident but sucessful too. I finished his class with the highest grade. thanks to his help!!

He's such a good & easy going guy. If you're struggling in math, this is the instructor you want to take. He'll let you use your notes on tests, work in groups or take them home. Dry sense of humor but that's okay. Ask any and all questions. He's more than willing to help sort it all out. Couldn't say enough good things about him.

Doty is a great math teacher, in fact one of the best I ever had. He offers his time before and after class to help you if you are struggling. He is great at explaining every step necessary for all problems. Such a nice guy and funny too! You will find yourself wanting to go to class and learn math with this great teacher!

I was lucky to have all three levels of Algebra with Mr. Doty. Your grade in this class is based mostly on tests and you are not allowed to use calculators. He has a quirky sense of humor and does really well going over the material. You are allowed to use notes on tests and he is really good about answering questions. Highly Recommend!

Doty is such a good teacher! Although his classes can be somewhat bland , he will help you whenever you do not understand something. Hes also lenient but to an extent. Lets students use notes during tests! Would definitely take again.

He's one of the best teacher's I've ever had! He's very understanding and takes the time to explain everything. He also realizes that a lot of people in his class are horrible at math, and just need to pass his class to get into other classes that are not math related. He wants everyone to pass and gives you all the tools possible to do so.

Mr Doty is a good teacher however, His math class was one of the most confusing math I have ever token. He does not explain the problem property if you want to learn math you will have to go to tutor center or learn it by your self. if you want to take his class to pass then yeah just take him. But honestly I regret taking him.

There is no other math teacher that I would want to have besides Mr. Doty. Math has NEVER been my strong suit, I always struggled just for a C. In Dotys class I received my first A in math. He actually takes the time to explain well if you don't understand something and he is the most thorough professor. Also he teaches at a slower pace which helps

He doesn't grade homework. Tests are cake (he lets you do group tests). Only problem tbh is that if you don't attend class, you'll lose points because he counts attendance. But as long as you show up, easy A.

Excellent, explains in detail, easy going, no stress class. You can comprehend what is being taught, He is opened to taking as many questions as needed. Homework is assignment but not graded, easy test, extra credit and/or group test may be given or added. There is very little stress that comes with his classes, wish he taught higher level math.

Great professor! Really cares about his students and making sure they know the material. Loves answering questions. Only grades tests, all are open note, and half are take home. Provides a study guide that directly reflects the tests. Homework is not graded. Makes meth a much less hated subject. I definitely recommend.

Mr. Doty was legit one of the BEST math teachers Ive ever had. Hes corky and funny. Explains every step of the math problem and is extremely helpful. Hes caring and wants every one to pass. Absolutely awesome professor. If you put in the work, he will notice it. Gives out random extra credit if you got something others did not. He is hilarious but very monotoned. Gives students every opportunity to achieve a good grade. Gives out some take-home tests so you can go over your answers more than once and it overall a great professor.

Easiest class ever. He's super hard to understand. If you want to do very well in math, don't take him. If you want to show up and get an easy A, this is the class for you. You only take 5 tests that are the only grades. 1/2 are even a take home test.

He is a super easy teacher , the tests are like the review he gives you , homework is not mandatory and he lets you use your notes and study guide during the test ! His lectures can get a bit boring only because he reads exactly whats in the book. You could really just teach yourself from the book , and he really doesnt care much about attendance

Mr. Doty was a great professor! I hated math for years, but he never made me feel stupid! He's really easy to follow with in the textbook-- yes please get the textbook you're going to need it. Tests are easy if you do the pre-test, and there's like 5 extra credit points per test I think.

1 extra credit quiz that you can work with people on. 2 chapter exams that are EXACTLY like the reviews that you can use while taking them. 1 take home exam. Final exam is a BIT of a head scratcher but still NOTHING to worry about. You will definitely miss this class once you move to the higher up, which is what I'm currently dreading. GREAT CLASS!

Doty is not a bad professor. He has a dry sense of humor but hes really nice. He teaches straight from the book. Homework isnt mandatory but if you do all of it &amp; turn it in at the end of the semester, itll cancel out your worst test grade. He gives out practice tests before the actual test &amp; you can use them as notes which helps a lot.

super easy! 50 minute class and just teaches most of the time. You can take test home and finish it and bring it in the next day . open notes during the test and a review packet. no way of getting below an A in this class. He's great!

Mr. Doty is the sweetest teacher ever. His exams are literally like the study guide and lets you use the study guides during the exam as well and if you don't finish the exam in class you can take it home. He is an amazing teacher but I didn't really learn a lot from him. Lectures are literally out of the book and doesn't check homework.

Mr. Doty is a great and easy-going teacher. He does a good job at keeping things simple and is able to break down problems very well. Super easy grader which anyone can appreciate. Awesome!

One of my favorite teachers I have had here. He is a quit guy but is super funny and extremely smart. you do have to actually try to pay attention in class because sometimes its hard to be engaged with him. but he lets you use notes and gives a practice test which is pretty much the same questions as the test, it would be hard not to get an A.

Mr. Doty is such a gem! Homework is not mandatory and not taken for a grade but a great way to learn the material. However, at the end of each chapter there is a review that will have to be completed for a grade. Gives great feed back and will give more time if you talk to him. Do all the work and will get a good grade!

One of the best math teachers I've had. I wish I could have him as a teacher again! Any homework he gave was extremely easy and short (Every other Odd problem). Any time I emailed him outside of work hours I usually received a reply within 4 hours, with very detailed responses and made sure I understood the material.

Mr. Doty made this class very easy to take. Your book is mandatory so bring it to class. He was very funny and always made sure his students did their best in class. If you had a difficult time with a question he will make sure to take his time explaining it clearly. He is very easy with quizzes usually its the same as the homework.

Take Professor Doty for MTH 098! He left encouraging comments on everything that you turn in and they were so nice to read after a long week. There are problems you have to do each week but you don't need to turn them in. There were only 6 assignments to turn in the entire semester and 3 were tests and 1 was the final. Get to grade your own final!

I've struggled with math my entire life. This class has been amazing for me! Grades are based on tests, which are all open-note, take home, and graded so it's pretty much impossible to fail. He moves through problems slowly and explains things in a way that's easy to understand. Best math class I've ever taken! I learned how to long divide!
