As long as you study the manual, coloring book and textbook you'll be fine. He is not the best at explaining and teaching but he is definitely willing to help you out. This class is all about putting in lots of studying and effort. If you show up to every class you get 24 ec points at the end of the semester plus he gives ec questions on the tests
In the beginning of the semester he was new so i felt like he was not clear on how to do labs because he never explained them in the beginning he just set you free to do them yourself with no explanation but overall the class was easy if you know how to memorize and find the important functions
He is a very nice, calm, and quiet person. I feel like he is new. His requirements seem easy, however, his lectures are very boring. During lab, he says he will lecture, but instead he lets us loose to do everything on our own. Hes very confusing and not straight forward. When asking a question, it seems like he doesnt know the answer either.
He talks so low and skims through his power points during lecture. He tends to "finish early" & moves on to the next chapter, as if our brains aren't fried enough. He has horrible communication skills and doesn't hand back any tests or quizzes. He knows a lot but doesn't want to tell the students anything because he wants it to be hard.
His class is very difficult because he requires you to memories about 5 chapters in one week before the exam. I cried during this class. He does not pass back tests or quizzes so you can look back on your mistakes. He is a horrible lecturer and very boring. He makes everything very confusing and hard to understand.
His class is very confusing. We have back to back lecture and lab exams/quizzes; its difficult to keep track of what to study in such a short period of time. During lab, he doesn't even explain the lab well or how to do them; he sets you loose and expects you to know. This class has to be taken alone because its too much work and stress
This professor doesn't explain anything in lecture or lab. There is no review for the exams so you are unaware of what's on there. He is unorganized on exams, homework, and quizzes. He is unwilling to help us and when asking questions he is hesitate to tell us the correct answer. He confuses himself. Do yourself a favor, DONT TAKE HIM.
Overall, a good professor and a very nice guy. He sometimes goes too fast during lecture but he is always willing to help and answer questions. There are study guides available for each chapter that are reflective of the tests, so as long as you study off of them you should be good. He also offers lots of extra credit throughout the semester.
He is so smart that he doesn't know how to explain anything. If you don't plan on putting in ALOT of effort don't take the class
He's really nice but his teaching methods aren't all that great. He goes through lectures so quick and in lab he will explain something so quick and then let the class work on it themselves. He is always there for help but he doesn't explain it to where it helps a lot
Honestly, Dr. Foster is an awesome professor. He listens to student feedback, and while yes some people think he's difficult you have to match him on his effort. Go into office hours to review the anatomy models. He's always available through email. He's more than willing to help you understand the material and a lot of extra credit is offered!!
Great professor. Super nice guy, always willing to help you out. Very enthusiastic about the material! Each lab exam he offered 8 EC points, EC offered on each quiz. Lots of opportunities to boost one's grade! You have to put a lot of effort in but that's because there's a lot of memorization required. Very approachable!
AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING professor with a great attitude so helpful so helpful. definitely recommend. Do your work study hard and you'll get the A.
Very approachable and kind. He's goofy and a little unorganized but he means well and it was his first semester at CSUS lecturing. The class is tough in itself but I don't think it has anything to do with him.
This professor is AWESOME! The study guides that he provides after each PPT is very helpful when it comes to exams, online homework are easy because the answers are straight from the book, exams and quizzes are easy and straight to the point as long as you put in time to study.I definitely recommend taking him!
Awesome professor! Very funny and kind makes the material fun to learn. Put in the work and you will get the grade you want! He's really supportive, the material is difficult in general but he makes it easy to understand.
Never taken an anatomy class before. Really didn't know what to expect but Professor Foster was a great teacher. He seemed like he cares a lot about his students and he gives extra credit which is great for someone like me who struggled. Would recommend taking him for anatomy
The class is super hard already and he makes it harder. He's so smart that he can't explain a simple answer to us. He doesn't really help during the labs. Theres a lab quiz almost every week and the lecture exams were hard as well. He uses top hat for homework!
Doesn't help. You are expected to completely learn on your own, material is hard enough as it is and he somehow makes it harder. Unfortunately he is one of the only bio 25 profs that always has classes open. Wonder why. Sorry if he happens to be the only option with an open bio 25 class.
Sweet guy that cares about his students. You do have to study a lot and work hard but I feel like he tries to help us out by giving extra credit, dropping two hw assignments and two quiz grades, and I felt the tests were doable as long as you studied a lot. He wants his students to do well, not the best at teaching but he's still reasonable
Really great professor! This class is very challenging and you have to put the work in to get the grade you want. To the people who wrote bad reviews, you can't expect to be successful if you don't put any hard work in. Professor Foster is willing to help all students and to clarify any cloudy areas, and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Professor Foster is a nice professor. He is very knowledgeable about this subject, he tries to explain the materials to the best of his ability. He is always in his office hours and is willing to help or answer any questions that you might have. Although beware of his monotone voice during lecture, it may put you to sleep other than that he is ok.
He wasn't the best at teaching, but it was his second year of teaching. The people that gave him bad reviews didn't try at all or didn't bother to go to his office hours. You have to really study for this class and make time to see him if you really want an A. Yes his lecture are boring, but if you really want to succeed, talk to him.
Professor Foster is very nice but his lecture and lab are both confusing. He is always willing to offer help and answer questions, but for me it didn't help. He expects you to know everything in lab, doesn't go thru anything. His lectures are organized but very boring. He is very nice but I wish I had taken another professor.
Super nice person, always willing to help you. I took Bio 430 at CRC with him; he was always available to answer questions. He helps you to boost your grade if you are in a border of b or a to an A. Bio is hard and tough so study a lot. There is nothing easy just study before u come to class, the lecture slides are very helpful. Easy A.
Takes attendance via TopHat, every once in a while. Every PowerPoint has a study guide at the end so you know what will be on the exam. Had him for the Lecture and Lab, study your lab manual a lot! Everything he explains more in depth will be on the quiz or exam or even both! If you feel like it is too overwhelming, you are right. To be successful in this class you need to go over your notes and PPT study guide to pass this class. Go to his office hours, he will help.
Foster is super friendly and approachable. Teaching is still new to him which makes it hard to understand the material. I suggest going to his office hours and taking advantage in lab. Don't expect him to teach you everything. Make sure you study and understand the material beforehand. Extra credit for showing up to class.
Dr. Foster is easily the nicest & organized bio professor I've had. He's always available to answer questions. He explains things differently if you didn't understand it the first time and uses relatable examples to help you understand the concept. Tests are off the study guides he gives you. Keep up with the material tho because it is anatomy.
Don't expect to pass this class w/o doing any work for it. This class is definitely self taught but Foster is very sweet & willing to help. EC just for showing up, drops 2 lowest HW & quiz scores. Lectures may get boring but the slides are posted online. Lecture exams are based off the slides, rarely used the book, and lab exams are memorization.
This professor is amazing! He has a good attitude and helps a lot. He takes time to explain lab materials. The study guide are very helpful during exams. I recommend him.
Professor Foster is a great professor! He really cares about his students and is really helpful in lab if you ask him questions. Pro tip: Take him again for Bio 26 Lab if you can!! The other Bio 26 lab professors are no help!
He might not be very organized w/ lectures but he know his stuff. I would recommend take him. Overall for lecture, 4 exams, online homework, and extra credit. Over all for lab, lots of memorizing , same 4 exams, lab quizzes, extra credit usually in exam. Overall, it is a hard class but if you are ready to study, you can get A. - MUST DO STUDY-GUIDE
This class was by far the hardest I've ever taken. It's a LOT of memorization. Literally have a quiz EVERY week. The lab portion is the hardest, especially the exams. He makes you go to different lab stations. You have to learn the material yourself in order to pass this class. I would recommend a different professor for this course for nursing!
it's a heavy lecture course, meaning its a lot of info. given at once. when trying to get an explanation from him, he doesn't put it in simple terms, b/c he already knows the material he doesn't know how to explain it to someone who has never seen the material. the quizzes for the lab are difficult because he doesn't say which material be quizzed.
This guy is an amazing professor, gives you a study guide, and as long as you do the study your basically get an A in the class. I want him to teach BIO 26
Professor Foster is a great professor. Hands down, very knowledgeable tells you what you need to know especially if you ask him or reach out for help. The problem I have noticed is that a lot of students expect this class to be easy and for a professor to just hand them an A. You 100% get the grade you work for.
The class was hard, but foster is a caring professor and he will explain things well if you ask him about it. You definitely get the grade you deserve because YOU have to work for it. The people who are rating him down are the ones who do minimal work & expect an A+, but thats not the case especially in a hard science course like this.
I had Foster for BIO26 lab. He is very knowledgeable but hard to understand. Sometimes my classmates and I would ask for clarifications and he would answer with a different topic. If you're an independent person, Foster will work out for you. You just have to put in effort and time to study. Attendance is extra credit point :)
Professor Foster is a sweet guy but if you want a professor to just read off slides and have no control over a 150+ classroom then don't take him. Yes he gives study guides, there are quizzes every week for the lab portion and he does offer a significant amount of extra credit. There is a LOT of material and you have to teach yourself.
Professor Foster, is a nice guy. I wish he engaged more with us and talked to us as a class. All we do is learn lecture then go straight into lab. And you will have to teach yourself the concept, you will not understand him the first round, so you will have to teach yourself!!! Note: go on youtube. Wish I enjoyed this class, but I hated it.
this professor is kind of new, and is not too sure of what he is always doing, be aware that you're getting yourself into a heavy lecture course if you take him.
I don't know how much negativeness I can say about this professor. The way he teaches is just really bad. It's a lot of information that you will have to learn on your own. Most of us students want help, but this professor is really really tough. For nursing majors, I recommend to take another professor instead or take it at a community college!
Professor Foster is somewhat new to teaching, this class is very lecture heavy so it is important to stay on top of your work. Those who gave a horrible rating probably expected to get a good grade handed to them. BIO 25 is a learn it yourself class, it is truly up to you as a student to put in the effort and study. Extra credit is offered.
Students rating this Professor down seem more so upset they didnt get the grade they wanted. Lets be real Foster puts forward his best effort. Half of our exams were curved a LOT w/ EC. He sets it up so we have a higher grade. He elaborates on every photo & slide, take notes while he talks. Nursing students, study! thats all! Great guy, truly.
really nice guy, I think he was very reasonable with us I had him for lab and all the exams were straight from the lab manual no surprise or trick questions, just study he can't work miracles and give you the knowledge, so just don't be lazy and study and show up to class because its participation points that are EC :) he tries to help your grade
Will is a phenomenal professor. Very knowledgeable and does a superb job at teaching. He is very caring and overall an awesome guy to just have a normal conversation with. He even wrote me a recommendation letter. Offers extra credit(assignments and attendance) and study guides. Very fair class. Put in the work and youll get the grade you deserve.
Foster is one of the best profs I have ever had! Yes, his lectures are a bit hard to listen to at 7AM in the morning. However, he's extremely supportive if you put in the effort. He's also kinda funny! Having him for lab was the best. His exams are a bit hard (as are any exams for A&P!). Just study the PPT slides & fully do the study guide for an A
Dr. Foster was an amazing professor. He is very kind and knowledgeable about the subject. For both lecture and lab, there are four unit exams which are usually curved . There are 20 lab quizzes, the two lowest are dropped at the end of the semester. He provides extra credit points in each quiz. Relatively easy class if you have taken anatomy before
Professor Foster provides PowerPoints for every lecture which is exactly what is seen on the exams. He goes over every piece of information, and also gives study guides for each chapter. You will need to put in extra time to study, but Professor Foster provides you with all the tools you will need. TAKE FOSTER!!
Had foster for 25 over summer and 26 for lab. Such a nice person! Overall he's a solid choice, he wants students to pass! Lectures are a bit dry but he will clarify anything if you ask questions. Gives plenty of extra credit, even for attendance. This is a class you have to study ON YOUR OWN if you want to do well due to the nature of A&P.
I dont know this guy im just here to say hi.
Prof. Foster is super knowledge about his field. He knows what he's talking about. the only thing is he cant really explain well. posts study guides for what you need to know after every ppt (which he has for every lecture) and that is what is on the exams!! 4 lab and lecture exams. lab quizzes with ec quesitons and drops lowest 2. def. do-able!!
Foster is one of the best teachers I've ever had. People complain about getting a grade other than an A in this class but it's not only the teacher's responsibility but also the student. There's only so much a teacher can do; students must take it upon themselves to teach themselves the material too. A&P is pretty hard & a lot of memorizing
Oh my god, I cant say anything about this professor but the best! Hes never in a bad mood always smiling hes there to help every single student out. His exams are a piece of cake. Definitely record his lectures print out his PowerPoints and write notes on them study them each day. Hes the best. Gives out a lot of extra credit and curveshisexams
Hes the man.
BIO 25 with Foster is not that bad. Lecture slides are pretty straightforward, yet sometimes he can get a bit confusing. Despite that, he is REALLY good at answering questions when you ask him one-on-one, especially in office hours and in lab. It's on you to study yourself for the high grade since it's A&P, but he's good at clarification.
It's hard to stay awake during his lectures because his voice is super monotone however, powerpoint slides are clear. He gives extra credit for participation and drops 2 lowest lab quiz. You have to study a loooot by yourself, gives us a week to memorize 40-70 anatomy terms, location and function. Difficult but put in the work and you'll do fine
Bio 25 with Foster was AMAZING! It was a struggle waking up at 8am for lecture but it was worth it. He is very through in his lecture, and tries his best to explain everything to his capabilities, but GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS IF YOUR ARE CONFUSED ABOUT A CONCEPT!! he will help you understand it by the end!
This is a hard class but he cares very much about your success. He is so patient and will happily explain a concept you're having trouble with. Put the effort in and take the time to talk with him if you are having trouble. It is so nice to have a professor who doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. Drops some low quizzes and EC avail.
Took him for bio 26 cause I had him for bio 25. This was his first semester teaching bio 26. He did horrible! He was confused him self what he was doing because nothing was prepared. He would give us study guides 1 day before exam as well as lecture heavy. His PowerPoints were horrible and full of words. I would recommend taking other bio 26 prof.
I had this Professor for both BIO25 and BIO26. He isn't good at explaining, but he gives more than enough resources you need. BIO25, especially BIO26 really is just a tough class, so you will definitely have to study on your own. To pass, come to lec, take notes, read the online textbook(optional), do the hw, and come to lab. Lecs are posted online
Very confusing, not clear, lectures are rushed, would not recommend at all. Class test averages were low.
Hes very intelligent but does not know how to teach. His study guides were ridiculously long for a 50 question multiple choice. Often forgets we are undergrad and would expect us to understand visuals and jargon not necessary in this class.
Weekly quizzes (drops 2 lowest ones at end of semester). 3 exams, non-cumulative final, attendance is non-mandatory but extra credit for showing, almost everything tested is in lab manual. If you come to class, there's a brief lecture and the rest is studying with lab partners. Lots of studying, I'd say 10+ hours per week if you want an A in lab.
He's a really good professor it's just that it's a LOT of information. His lectures are really wordy, and sometimes its hard to pay attention. One piece of advice I have is GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. If you do not understand something, professor Foster will try his best to help you. Not really great at explaining but he tries his best.
I had him for Lab. Class time was spent studying/looking at models. Quizzes after every 2 labs. 1 extra credit question on each quiz and 4 questions on each exam. Exams have a LOT of material and are not multiple choice. Hard but doable. Honestly, if you cant get at least a B in this class you should strongly reconsider Nursing.
This man knows his stuff. By far most intelligent professor Ive ever as a second year. Bio 26 is a hard class by no means will you get an A if you dont put in the work its doable but difficult
Pros: Exams are curved and are not that hard. No textbook is necessary to do well in the class, and there is EC Cons: Confuses his slides, his students, his exams, and himself. He admits in private that he doesn't know the material that well and does not address when he makes A LOT of mistakes. His study guides are useless Just watch crash course
He grades fairly tough on the labs but If you answer the question fully and correctly, you'll get full credit. Be prepared before the lab as he doesn't give a lot of background info before starting. If you do have any questions he is more than happy to give an answer. Funny and goofy dude!
He explains everything well and will answer questions if you need help. However, he takes his tests to the next level bc he wants his students to think critically. sometimes this is hard when the test material comes out of no where. Do all of ur TopHat homework, as the points add up. overall, this class is manageable - you just have to study hard
cool person but truthfully he struggles with teaching concepts. his lectures are him reading his slides wish he brought some of his own knowledge into the lectures because he is a very knowledgeable prof. overall, exams were always curved and tophat was very helpful. he really makes you work for an A. go to office hours.
Go to office hours, don't miss class because there is tophat questions. Exams are hard but curved.(at least for my semester). Put in the effort this class is going to be hard no matter which professor you take.
Not good teaching in Lab Only class. No explaination of Labs just thrown into groups and had to muddle through on our own. Never told when to leave or if class was over, we would exit our groups and the teacher was just gone. We never discussed the Labs before or after, it was on our own to figure things out. He helps you if you ask. Not hands on.
Professor Foster is a great Professor, I feel as though he explained the lab well. Most of the class was group work which wasnt bad. Hes very approachable, I would recommend you take his for 131 lab.
His labs didn't prepare me for the lecture at all. I have an A in lecture and i have a mid B in Lab because the lab quizzes are dumb. If you don't write down every single detail of the labs, you wont pass his quizzes. He makes groups wait around while he helps others, so be ready to do nothing for 20+ minutes quite often.
He taught me the UPLB and PLB cycles very well. Even though he was primarily an expert on the SILB cycle, he shared his knowledge of everything LB quite well.
This is one of my favorite classes I have been able to take for physiology, I have had many issues with professors in the past not clearly explain concepts to the class. However, Professor Foster has amazing lecture slides that include everything you need to know for the exams. He gives plenty of resources and even is available to answer questions.
I say Mr. Willy Foster does not know how to teach. I feel he does not explain the concepts well, and he keeps repeating food that does not make sense, in my opinion, like he mentions a tuna fish sandwich related to osmosis or something and oatmeal for breakfast for energy like it was kind of not getting to the point.
Idk why his ratings are so low. He's literally the best prof you can get for bio 25. He give soooo many extra credit points and also curve the exams. I literally can't think of a reason why someone would fail this class even if you barely do the minimum. He's also gonna answer every questions you have too if you ask. Highly recommended.
overall he is a good professor, id recommend to review every single slide before the test and do not rely on the study sheet. His flaw is that he talks about one subject for to long that he doesnt have time to talk about the the rest which are also super important, so u end up having to learn it yourself. DO the extra credit
I did end up doing good in his class but He shows up late then tries to keep teaching after class is over, takes too long on certain subjects so you will have to teach yourself the rest, he promised a certain amount of extra credit in the syllabus ended up giving us no where near the amount he promised because he said he couldn't give us that much..
Kind and caring, wants students to pass and even gave EC + curved some exams. Only flaw, he was not always clear on expectations for tests and quizzes and that could be frustrating. Just study everything and you will be ok. It's a fascinating, but hard subject, no prof will change that. Use outside resources and study lots.
all lecture professors made it very clear that lab instructors were not giving lab quizzes or exams, he disregarded that, gave multiple quizzes that were extremely difficult and wouldn't stop until asked ten times by multiple professors. He also refuses to take the quiz grades out so grade tanked. Is not very helpful in teaching or asking for help
Dr. Foster was amazing! I loved going to his labs each week and he was very easy to approach in and outside of the classroom. He will question you during lab on certain things but will guide you through it if you need some help. I highly recommend taking him as your lab instructor!
He had a fun personality, easy grader, and easy to approach. He was a good teacher, but took a while to reply to emails or communicate with the class clearly. Learned a lot from his labs though so definitely don't skip.
Prof. Foster was a good prof. He had a very fun personality and liked to smile a lot. The class is pretty simple too. At the end of the semester, you and your group will present this "Movement Analysis Project" which was pretty easy too. All in all, this was a solid Bio Lab class.
The best Anatomy teacher you can take. Exams are study guide and slides only, always described what exactly will be on the exam, very caring and kind, Labs are enjoyable and supports to learn the anatomy models, extra credit on each exam. Supports, comforts and cares about student's development. I miss him, he's very friendly and easy.
Simplifies lectures. Easy to pass hard material but just watch his lectures and you'll pass.
Very difficult class, even as a 3.5 GPA student. I had to quit my student help job to focus. Half the class dropped before the W date at ARC. Professor is nice but material is tough. Mostly quizzes/exams, no homework. Study the videos and attend lab for points. Good luck to those enrolled, and props to everyone who pushed through and passed.
This class was rough. Lab/lecture exam on the same day. Lab exams used models/histology & his own images with no guidance. If you want to do really well, read the book! I studied the slides & lectures to the bone instead of reading the book. Your exam grades are basically your total course grade. Make this class your #1 priority, & you will pass.
