This guy is the best professor I have ever had!!! He is a combination of Jon Stewart and that teacher from Dead Poet's Society...Uses Supreme Court cases and other primary source materials...A few projects and uses Facebook as a discussion group!!! Take this guy!!!
Great professor! He made government enjoyable.
HE BROUGHT US DONUTS ON FINAL DAY!!! :) I was worried at the beginning of the semester.. but he is a GREAT professor. There were 10 online quizzes (easy!), a few easy assignments, and a midterm and final. He does not like test questions so he does not give tests BUT you have to know certain quotations from the readings and explain them. TAKE HIM!
GREAT PROFESSOR! Take him! I made an A and I HATE government. :)
Geisler is awesome. I never was interested in government or politics and week after week in Geisler's class, I was hooked!! He hates tests so he gives you quotes from Supreme Court cases for you to elaborate on. Also uses Facebook for weekly grades. He does repeat himself a lot but he's still one of the best!. A++
Lenient on grades ! Funny , and always gives extra credit ... I hate government & I passed it(:
AWESOME TEACHER! I hate government, and he made it extremely interesting! Lots of extra credit, no tests (only easy projects!), Facebook group, very little homework. Textbook is only $11 because he made it himself. TAKE HIM! He's awesome! You'll learn a lot but still make a good grade. One of the best teachers I've had.
I don't really enjoy government, but Geisler made it fun! We had about 10 quizes from lecture and project assingments depending on the topic we were learning that week. He does FB disccusions every week, and gave lots of extra credit. :) you have to do literally NOTHING to FAIL!
Good Professor, if you do your work, it's an easy B. He's funny, and he makes the class super fun. Midterm and final are really easy if you highlight what he tells you to. Show up to class. I didn't do the 8 page (maybe 6?) research paper, so I got a C.
You won't be disappointed. He made government fun and interesting. I enjoyed the Supreme Court cases and the FB discussions are a big plus. He gives tons of extra credit and is a super guy! No tests, just easy quizzes and final with a study guide.TAKE HIM!
Online government class. Very low interaction with Professor Geisler. All chapter quizzes were online and you can take each one twice for the possibility of a better grade. Two easy, straightforward projects and Facebook group posts and replies, 2 of each weekly.
Geisler's online course was interesting. Very easy and fun. Three papers which didn't take much time, and a lot of face book postings about government related courses. Chapter tests which weren't particularly difficult if you studied. Would definitely take the course again.
This professor obviously loves politics and makes it fun. I hate politics but actually came away thinking about thing differently. Really excellent professor
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! He is laid back, gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit, and is always there to help you. Some of the projects are a little challenging but there are plenty of opportunities to make up for a low grade. Quizes are online! Keep up with current events and do plenty of facebook posting each week and you'll do great!
Professor Geisler loves Government and it shows. He grades easy and is quick to answer questions. Also, he offers many forms of extra credit throughout his course. Take it, you can't go wrong.
He is a great professor, very hands on with the students making everyone interact. His quizzes are easy his projects are tedious but easy. He is a over all wonderful professor and would recommend him. He is nice and always there if you have questions! LOVED HIM
BEST TEACHER EVER!! Quizzes every week, and only 2 exams, but totally worth taking his class. Very funny and helps you throughout the lessons. He gave out a lot of extra credits too! Passed his class with flying colors!
I like the way Mr. Geisler teaches. He is entertaining and make it easy to understand the material he is going over. He is a great teach and I recommend him to any one looking for an A
Class was funny at times, I really enjoyed it! I'm grateful that I had you as a professor. Thank you!
Hands down one of the best professors/teachers I've ever had. Does everything he can to help you out. He makes all of the material interesting and really pushes you to think!
Favorite teacher ever! Would take him as many times as possible!
Best professor ever!!! You wont be dissapointed :)
The best professor at Collin. So funny and gives ton of extra credit. It would be hard to fail his class
The grade you get is the work you put into it. There was alot of work, but subject is interesting so made the work seems easy. He is definitely passionate about his government. Highly recommend others to take the class.
I did not want to take a government class, but professor geisler made the class interesting and fun. He breaks down the assignments so that they are doable.
I had NO interest in Federal Government before this class but he makes it interesting. The syllabus is clearly written out, the assignments are easy, and he is an easy grader. The midterm was take home, and it was a tad difficult (I got a 79%) but I still have an A in the class. He also gives out A LOT of easy extra credit. DEFINITELY take him!
Really easy class and a great professor I enjoyed the course. I recommend this class to everyone!!!
The class is fun and interesting. We get easy projects that help add up to the final grade. Professor Geisler makes the class interesting and fun.
never boring always looked forward to his class.
Professor Geisler makes government enjoyable using his own Textbook($18.00)of primary sources.Really enjoyed going to his class, looked forward to it actually.
Geisler. Is a great professor. I would definitely take him again. There were many assignments but none were unreasonable. I enjoyed his class alot especially towards the end when we started to interact a little more. Great job professor.
Awesome, smart, and classy
quizzes were easy. Lots of assignments but they aren't hard just time consuming.
He is an amazing professor. He created his own book which is around $20. He keeps you interested in class, there are many assignments but they aren't hard. As long as you pay attention and do the assignments you're fine. He also gives out a lot of extra credit.
He's a great teacher. if you read the readings and turn in all the assignments you'll do great. he also offers plenty of extra credit
Prof Geisler is awesome! He makes learing fun, gives out plenty of extra credit to help you out, and makes it easy to learn and pass the class. If you are iffy on passing Government class, get this professor!
He is truly the best teacher ever!!!!!! Makes class very interesting... do your work early because it does take a while to research everything but is worth it you will learn a lot! Awesome teacher!
Great! enthusiastic instructor, large assignments but lenient grader. Watch a lot of video clips. Lots of extra credit. Lets you spend $18 on a packet instead of a full text book. Explains well. Interested in student ideas. Definitely recommend!
Great professor, opens your mind to all aspects of government on a new level. He's very laid back and loves when his students participate in class discussions. Gives extra credit out for everything! Guaranteed A.
This glass was a long class but simple. The time frame he gives is basic. His class consisted of about 14 quizzes and 5 projects. Very simple class but you do have to read.
If you want to learn a lot about Government and earn a great grade doing so, please take this professor! He gives TONS of extra credit opportunities and there should never be any reason why you don't earn an A by doing the work and coming to classes. He gives lots of quizze, but if you show up to class and pay attention you will make an A.
Great professor! So much extra credit opportunities and you don't have to take the final if you get 900 points before. Get ready for quite a few written assignments but the class is easy overall.
He is so engaged and cares so much what he is lecturing about. It is an interactive classroom which will open your eyes to other people's opinions on political matters. He is very kind and cares about your grades.
Probably the easiest class I have ever taken. Not because it was a blow off, but because he makes the details easy to remember with humor. Tons of extra credit opportunities, and did I mention he was hilarious. Quizzes are not hard and nor are his tests. A++; great teacher; would take again.
I had a lot of fun in this class. Prof. Geisler is very funny. He asks a lot of questions to get you thinking about where you stand on issues. His projects were fun. we did projects on two movies and two supreme court cases. He is very sought after so get a seat while you can. You snooze you lose. oh and a lot of easy extra credit oppertunities.
He's pretty chill, but also knows what he's talking about. Just make sure your keeping up with the readings, its fairly easy stuff. There's a quiz every week and only two exams (mid - term and final), and both the quizzes and exams are pretty easy and cover up everything you will learn from that week and months. Best government professor at Collin!
Fantastic professor. There are about 8 quizzes & he tells you all of the questions in the class prior. Tests are a little hard, know your Court Cases. Regardless you can make up whatever loss with the given abundance of extra credit options. Get 900 points and you don't have to take the final. He does not lean on sides. Wish I could have him again.
Absolutely loved his class! I HATE government but I loved his class. He gives you tons of extra credit there is no reason for you not to get an A. He wants to help you get an A! He is very passionate about his class but has lots of assignments. If you want a blow off class don't take this one. Quiz every week plus other assignments. But I loved it!
Professor Geisler was amazing! I had no interest in the subject going into the class but he made me take an interest in government! I would more than definitely take his class again. He gives tons of extra credit and the assignments aren't bad. Do you work and you'll be fine. Highly recommended!
Professor Geisler is a great teacher...I took the online class and finished early because all the work is posted. He gave me good grades and if needed explained them to me. I'm taking his online course for GOVT 2306. Take him!! Easy A!
Absolutely loved his class! Dreaded taking government, but Prof. Geisler made it FUN! Lots of extra credit opportunities. He is very passionate about his class. Quiz every week, plus other assignments. Show up, do the work, & you should have no problem getting an A. Great professor & great class.
Took his online class. I'm not a huge fan of the subject, but this class was pretty enjoyable. He implements the use of Facebook for discussion. If you're on one side or the other of the political spectrum, or feel strongly about anything, be prepared to get frustrated with other posters (in a fun way). Overall, good class, with a little effort.
He offers a ton of extra credit for the simplest things. One time he gave extra credit to a student just for visiting Hawaii. He only has 2 tests, the midterm and the final. Lectures are easy but no power points or anything he just talks the whole time. quizzes are a little hard and you really need to know the material to do good on quiz.
My favorite professor so far! Highly recommended.
Great teacher. Loved him. Easy homework and quizzes. Just study a little and you will pass. He preaches his lectures. That's how much he likes teacher this subject. He's also very funny. Take him. You won't regret it.
Geisler is a fantastic professor who will teach you so many things. He asks intriguing questions that will catch your attention, and has great humor. He has many opportunities for extra credit and is a pretty easy grader. I DEFINITELY recommend his class!!! The seats fill up quickly, so sign up while you can!
He is a great professor. Made the class very interesting and easy to comprehend. Be prepared for quizzes every week. He creates his own reading material so you will not pay a lot for a book. He does assign two major projects and a few writing assignments but they a fairly easy. His classes fill up fast so grab your seat while you can.
Awesome and philosophical approach to government. Makes you think hard about where our Constitutional freedoms should lie. I've always hated hist & govt classes, but was really disappointed when I had to miss a couple of classes. Uses his own text that costs $20 and I'm glad to own. Makes class very fun and easy! Just TRY and you'll ace it!
You get 100 points of extra credit. He assigns very little homework. Another thing; if you do the Facebook group, get ready to argue with a bunch of people who don't know what they're talking about. However, if you miss class and you're in the Facebook group, you can post there asking for notes. You'll get a reply. IF people like you.
Professor Geisler was seriously one of the best professors ever! He is super clear on everything. Quizzes are easy and there are only two test which are easy if you know your stuff. Attendance is a MUST but you won't regret going because Geisler keeps the class interesting!
Professor Geisler is one of the best, if not the best, professors I have ever taken. He is passionate about the subject he teaches, and it shows in his lectures. He engages the class and is one of the most interestingentertaining professors I've had. The quizzes are easy and he gives a ton of extra credit. I would recommend him to anybody.
Great professor. His class is very enjoyable and even more informative. Geisler keeps everything interesting, and offers enough extra credit to pass the class even if you fail both major exams. Two major tests (midterm and final) and ten quizzes. There are some projects, none that are too hard. Show up, and you will do very well.
He really is a good teacher. I honestly was expecting to get out of the class with a C, but ended up getting an A. He gives enough extra credit for you to get a good final grade. The only thing I didn't like about his class was the fact that his papers were single spaced on tough subjects. I would recommend his class for sure.
Great lectures, non-biased and engaging! I looked forward to each class and enjoyed the material. I can now say I had fun in a Government class. I highly recommend signing up for his classes. My favorite parts of the semester were when we studied court cases, those lectures were pure entertainment. Inspired me to have an interest in Government.
Amazing teacher! He has an uncanny ability to get you interested in government and his passion shows in everything he does. Tests (two) and quizzes were easy if you attend class. This is the professor to take if you want to learn more than just memorized facts like who your Congressman is, though you'll learn that too.
I took his class during Maymester. It was very fast paced, but that's expected. I enjoyed his class and I have never had an interest in government before. There is a facebook discussion that is considered part of your grade, or you could write a paper, but who wants to do that. I would definitely take his class again, just not for maymester.
Massive amount of projects and homework. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of your semester working on projects. Very time consuming!
After going back to school after 10 years i was quite nervous but he made it very easy to jump back in the game. He is a great speaker and makes class very fun.
Before taking this class I was completely uninterested in Government and was not particularly looking forward to it. Geisler is HILARIOUS and the class is pretty easy to pass so long as you put the work in. He gives numerous extra credit opportunities as well. Lectures are interesting and engaging. Also, he's kinda hot in my opinion.
Hes AWESOME! I almost failed the 3 prior gov/hist classes, but made an A in this class- even after missing 3 quizzes & making 2 bad essay grades. THANK YOU EXTRA CREDIT! He gives lots of E.C opportunities & lets you redo/turn in late for 50%. Make sure you attend class. If GOV is hard for you, you still can pass by doing E.C. Book is only $20
Online class. He works in 4 "sections" approx 3 weeks a section. There are 3 tests per section, constant Facebook group postings (6 minimum per section), a discussion post, 3 projects. He does allow extra credit for visiting a selection of museums and writing a document about it. A lot of reading and research. Fair grader.
Thank you for this semester! You were a great teacher and inspired me a lot! You had a lot of passion and made me interested in politics and I've never been before!
I took this course not knowing it was a sophomore level course as a freshmen and it's easy if you do the readings and study. Make sure to do all his assignments and you'll do Well as me for I made a 98 in the class
Mr. Geisler is such an awesome teacher, I never gave a crap about Government but he made me more into politics. He's so hilarious and always asks about what you think about a certain case or topic. I would definitely take him again.
Gives extra credit! Use it!
Lots of lecturing. Need to be in class. Quiz every class. Lots of extra credit. Easy grader.
Textbook is cheap. He made his own for around 15 - 20$ Great teacher he made the transition between high school and college extremely smooth.
So much work but so much extra credit so it evens out, just make sure you get 900 points!!!
Test #1 was on your computer in class. Have to know quotes from the Journals. He made his own book for $15-20, which was good. Enjoyed his class. Projects weren't hard. But study for quizzes when he tells you there is one coming up.
10 quizzes, 2 tests (midterm and final... skip final if you get 900 points), 4 film projects, 4 other projects, 4 posts + 4 comments on FB every week, allows 100 extra credit points. Take notes in class - he pretty much gives answers/questions that will be on the quiz in the class before. Late work is half off. He's funny, encouraging and helpful
Weekly quiz, but it's over things he discussed the week prior. You can earn up to 100 extra credit points, but he does not give make up work. Expect to do 2 presentations towards the end of the semester. Quizzes are not tough, but they are often so you need to make a friend in the class to help cover you when you're out. Time consuming, but fun
Geisler was a great instructor! If you do the work and show up to class its an easy A. He grades fairly, there are several film/papers. A quiz for every class, so show up. Weekly postings on Facebook about political topics, easy points there. Tons of extra credit opportunities. You can only fail this class if YOU don't put forth the effort.
It's a GOVERNMENT class so expect to be bored, but pay attention because it's an easy A if you do all the work.
I actually liked Professor Geisler. He is really funny and makes the class interesting. Make sure to attend class because his lectures really help on quizzes and test.
Professor Geisler is magnificently clear, organized, informative, humorous, well spoken and efficient with his project schedules. There is a great deal of outside research necessary for the landmark projects, but that is to be expected for such large grade values. Definitely recommended for anyone who needs an enjoyable and valuable semester.
This was my first and only required government class and I enjoyed it. Prof. Geisler's lectures are hilarious and engaging - and the class is fairly easy to pass. He is generous with extra credit! The poster presentations are fun and his assignment expectations are clear. He's also easy on the eyes, which helped me pay attention. :-)
I took his class online, and it was perfect. I have a busy schedule so this worked out so well. His test are a little though, but you get two chances to take them. Which helps a lot. Not to mention he gives out a ton of extra credit, which makes is nearly impossible to not get an A in his class. I would for sure take his class again if I could.
If you are taking any kind of government class and are also working while you go to college, Dr. Geisler is your go-to professor. He was more than fair, does not talk much, which is definitely not a bad thing, but responds to students quickly.I work retail hours and he made his challenging 3 week express course possible for me. Sign up!!
Prof Geisler made the class challenging, but overall great. Be prepared to read. I took his express class, so lots of writing, posting on facebook page, tests for every 3 chapters, discussions, and homework assignments. Just make sure to spend a good amount of time doing the work, especially exp class. I spent full weekends doing all the work. A+
Good: He explains content well Bad: Frequent homework assignments - EVERY weekend is a decent sized project (too often IMO). He also expects you to read before class, which is fine, but will quiz you on it before you even discuss the material. I've taken far more content demanding classes and he intentionally makes his that way - I am not a fan.
Good: Lectures very well Bad: He makes you write out quiz and exams questions, makes up questions as he goes along and talks while you're answering the questions. He gives a ton of assignments for a class that is mandatory in the State of Texas and unless you're a political science major, is absolutely useless in life. Horrible class experience .
Before this class I did not have an interest for government and politics. Now I do, and it's all because of Professor Geisler. I loved this class, and would take it again. It's a REALLY easy class if you read the required material. The lectures are awesome. Show up, listen to the lectures, read the readings at least once, and you'll do great.
WARNING!!!! Do NOT take this instructor for an online course! I am currently taking it online for Maymester and there is an completely unreasonable and ridiculous amount of course work that is required in order to receive an A in the class. If you have a job, family or other important responsibilities - DON'T ever take this class online!
Great professor, makes class interesting with his lectures and great philosophical questions. I would definitely take him again, just go to class and do the work and you will pass, no big deal.
I took Gov 2306 with Prof. Geisler at Lone Star (Same prof. though) and his class was extremely easy. However, it is a huge amount of work and you will likely to be rushing to meet some deadlines due to very time-consuming projects. Geisler grades really easy on the projects. You need the textbook for the online exams. Basically: tedious but easy
I'm in his online class and each week, I have to read 4 chapters, do 4 or 5 simulations for each chapter and an exam for each chapter. That's four exams a week. On top of that, each week there are discussion posts. And, There's a Facebook group which you have to post on at least 8 times a week. ONLY TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ENJOY NOT HAVING A LIFE.
I didn't particularly enjoy the class, but Prof Geisler is nice and grades fair. If you do the work you should have no problem getting an A. *Also, I rented the textbook but didn't need it at all*
Good GOVT class for the summer! Yes there are many assignments due but thats because its crushed to 4 weeks. One project due each week (which are really easy), 3-4 quizzes due each week (Which count as mini exams since there are no exams), a facebook group or an optional paper, and a weekly discussion board. Seems like a lot of work but it was easy
There are no exams but each chapter has a quiz that consists of 25 questions and acts like an exam. You have two shots at taking them and they are timed for an hour. There are 5 projects which are little research projects but they are kind of fun! The FB group is engaging- must post 4 times per wk and respond 4 times per wk. He is a good professor!
This professor is the most insensitive and detached individual I've yet to be in a class of. His class is a monotonous, repetitive and benighted hodge-podge of unimportant questions- either copied from the textbook or not found in the textbook or any educated source of information. The assignments have very fastidious instructions.
This class is good online, Professor Geisler is fair in grading and if you do the work, you'll make and A. The test are timed but you can take them twice 25 questions each and not impossible. I actually liked this class and History and Government are not my best subjects. There is a Facebook group but it isn't bad at all to post. TAKE HIM.
Professor Geisler is a great teacher. He teaches and tries to get you to think about the role of government. In this class you learn what you think the role of government should be and why you think this way. Professor Geisler made his own textbook to save the students money it includes a copy of the constitution and lots of quotes from pres &philo
He is an AMAZING professor. I wish he taught all my classes. He makes government easy to understand . I like that he does not push his political views on the class rather he just puts the information on the table , and we make our own conclusions. All his assignments are clear & offers extra credit like crazy. You have to try to fail his class..
Professor Geisler is an inspirational teacher. His lecture is easy to understand. However, you will have to do tons of homework. Lots of projects and papers. If you take 4 classes, do not take him because you won't have enough time for other classes. If you have less than 3 (1-3) classes and have time, you can take his class.
Hands down, the best professor I've had in college so far! Amazing lectures and makes thought provoking questions. I believe all students need to learn more about government and Mr. Geisler is one of the best. Pay attention and get involved in class and you should get an A! I would love to take another class with him!
So glad I took him! Got a 96 and didn't even show up for the final exam! He has a dirty mouth which i didn't appreciate. So many extra credit opportunities. Be prepared to write 4-6 page papers...
I took this as a 3 week express course so there was a lot of work but it wasn't hard. There's 14 "exams" basically a quiz for each chapter, 5 projects, 4 discussion board posts and a Facebook group which requires you to post and reply 4 times each unit. Professor Geisler grades fairly and easy, if you do the work, it's impossible not to get an A!
Few assignments but very intense. Lots of discussions and optional paper or Facebook group participation. Includes grading rubric for every assignment and is not biased toward grading projects that are about controversial topics.
For a government teacher, he has a difficult time remaining neutral during discussions, often taking the more conservative side. He often changes his mind about what he will put on the quizzes, so you have to study everything, not just what he tells you to focus on. Overall the class is easy if you put in work, but his personality is grating.
I was back and forth with Professor Geisler- he has a great sense of humor and he's intelligent, but at times he can be very biased and I didn't agree with a lot of his views. There's quite a bit of work in his class, so be prepared, but he makes his lectures enjoyable and he gives TONS of extra credit opportunities. Overall I would take him again.
Love a professor who is passionate about the subject. He was not only humorous but very into having the class involved in the lectures. There is a lot of chances for extra credit, and the quizzes are extremely easy as long as you read the handbook and keep up with it. There are also a few film projects and major projects but nothing too bad.
Professor Geisler is great! He made the the class enjoyable, and he is quite funny. Clearly loves politics and genuinely wanted us to learn. I took his hybrid class meaning most of the work and test were online. Only quizzes were in class. Also had a couple of projects to do. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT.
This professor isn't as helpful as I'd like but his class is easy to pass as long as you keep up with the homework. You also learn a lot about Texas which is good to know.
A fantastic teacher. I took Federal Government from him and i honestly couldn't even tell where he leaned politically. He gives a fair shake at the whole political spectrum and i really appreciated it. Take his class!!
He's so good. It never fails that he makes the class laugh. There's one homework assignment each week, a discussion board, and 8 quizzes total for the semester. His quizzes are easy and he often gave us free 100's for quiz. Your grade is based on the amount of points you accrue. And it's very easy to get extra credit in his class. Very happy!
Professor Geisler is a fantastic teacher. He's one of those people who radiates enthusiasm for his job and proves that it's possible to not only enjoy a required college class, but to actually look forward to it.
I took his course online. The class was based on the chapter exams that can be about 1-3 a week. There is a video quiz before, that has about 2-4 questions (super easy to pass). Then exams are always 25 questions long and you can retake them if you don't pass the first time. Gives you an overview of the chapter. Can find most questions on quizlet.
I loved Professor Geisler! I think his classes are unique, fun, and pretty easy! The only thing that might be off-putting is that he isn't always organized, and he doesn't follow his syllabus closely, but I think he is fair to his students. Just be sure to put forth the effort on his assignments, and he'll give you an easy A.
Professor Geisler's lectures are amazing. He is always bouncing around from one side of the room to another. He really makes you think about things from multiple perspectives. The only downside is the homework. It's easy busy work but it's looong. I had to write so many papers it's not even funny.
Geisler, was pretty good ! He wasn't so bad. If you don't like to read don't take him because you do read A LOOOTTTT ! & you write so many essays ! The good thing is, his lectures are good and he is funny! He throws around extra credit like its nothing . There are quizzes , only 2 test & film projects & presentations!
Interest prof to say the least. Created the text book himself and only uses info from the book. Two in class presentations but they arent as terrible as most, actually pretty easy. Lots of quizzes and a few tests. Quizzes are straight from his head on the spot, tests are online but in class. Doesnt give much info on what to study so be careful.
The amount of homework Professor Geisler thinks is appropriate to complete in one week is ridiculous. One week I had two 28-part projects along with two discussion posts and four quizzes.
Not a hard class as long as you do all the work, but it is A LOT of work. He made us buy a textbook that he edited and it was 50 dollars. The textbook contains nothing but a bunch of federalist papers and articles in the constitution, and we probably didn't even use a tenth of the textbook for all the assignments. Don't recommend this professor.
This instructor enjoys seeing his students fail. He is irrational, inflexible, regardless if you work hard or not. He will grade you strictly, his tests are not accurate, they will remove points even though you gave the right answer. Doesn't' t have good attention to detail, only when he wants to grade you poorly he will nitpick you.
Took online. There is a lot to do however, not impossible. Stick to the syllabus and do the work, turn it in on time and you will be fine. I actually enjoyed this class. Again not easy but very possible. :0)
Did not communicate well at all. Gave heaping amounts of work. Graded extremely hard for a freshman level course.
-Not a tough grader. The criteria is clear, if you do what is asked you'll get a good grade -You will need to read the textbook before class, usually 3-4 readings that are 2-3 pages long -MANY extra credit opportunities -Come to class, his weekly quizzes are usually on the 1st class of the week and he doesn't allow make-ups
Professor Geisler is a very easy grader. Quizlet (; -You have four written projects that are pretty easy but take time researching for everything. -14 Chapter exams with 25 questions and two attemps for 60 minutes. -4 Discussions that have to 250-300 words -Facebook group pretty easy as well Have to post four times a week and reply to classmates.
Professor Geisler is funny, however his grading seems unfair. He doesnt give a review so if I were you Id start making flash cards and studying for your test. Even though you have no idea what will be on them. Good luck.
I've never written a review on here before but this professor was the worst! Not helpful at all and gives more work than what is necessary like he thinks his class is the only class you're taking. Try to avoid him if you can.
I am currently taking him for an online class and we something to do every single day. He gives you a lot of work as long as you complete it and answer the questions he wants you to it is possible to get an A in this class.
Geisler is hilarious and gives ALOT of extra credit. What he teaches in class is what the quizzes and finals are over. What he writes on the whiteboard is what needs to be in your notes and he moves quick. The readings are important but he highlights the important parts. He is hilarious and his class is not hard but deserves attention for sure.
Great at lecturing, and what is written on the board is mostly what you need to know. Quizzes are fairly easy and gives LOTS of opportunities for extra credit. The homework takes quite a bit of time, but the grading criteria is clear. If you do what is asked, you will make an easy A.
DO NOT take an online express class with him. You write a 500 word paper or longer with an online quiz every day, including weekends, must post daily on FB or write 1000 word paper. Book is written by him that you are NOT able to return/buy back. If you like busy work, this is your class though. He is also inflexible and not friendly.
I really enjoyed the class. Prof. Geisler does not at any time use the class as a soap box, which would be easy to do with this subject. Lots of little writing assignments and discussion.
Online express class. There was a lot of reading and assignments, plus a quiz due every day. You either have to participate in a Facebook group or do an alternative video assignment. It is a lot of work, but if you manage your time well, it is a great way to get your required government courses checked off your list! I took US & Tx government.
I loved interacting with my class on the Facebook group. If you get on Facebook daily, you can do the discussions. Super easy!! Don't sign up for this class if you don't have a Facebook! It's a requirement.
Gives great lectures that are easy to understand. Goes in depth so that there should be no confusions and gives examples of a topic to make it more understandable and applicable. Would highly recommend taking his class if you are a visual learner.
Geisler is great! Makes lectures super interesting and is pretty unbiased. Facebook group is annoying to keep up with, but you can do the other assignment. About 8 quizzes, 5 movie+essay projects, 2 larges and extensive presentation projects, 2 tests. He is very unconventional. You have to memorize soooo much for this class.
Pretty tough online 8-week course, and there's almost something due every single day. Have to have really good time management skills, but overall Geisler is a lenient grader and pretty relaxed.
If youre reading this to decide whether or not you want to take his class, this stranger on the internet is telling you its a great idea! Hear me out, he goes by the point system, gives LOADS of extra credit side quests, and even adds funny quips into his already-interesting lectures. Theres usually an assignment every week but its not bad!
This is a great professor to take. I found government very confusing and never got good grades in high school, but his lectures made it super easy to understand. If you do your work, you should do great in his class. He also offers LOTS of extra credit if you ever need a grade boost.
I enjoyed his semester long class last year so I decided to take him again. for three weeks we wrote a 500 word minimum paper, a quiz and a 350ish word discussion EVERYDAY, plus had several additional projects. it became mentally exhausting very quick. I totally understand that its an express and would be more intensive, but it was excessive.
I took the online accelerated class (14 days), heavy load of homework. I had one discussion, one quiz and 500 essay or assignment almost everyday. If you submit your everything on time and meet his requirements, you will do good. I got A on this course.
Prof. Geisler knows what he is talking about. He relates things in a way where it is SO easy to understand. Loved his class. I would definitely recommend his class for government. Textbook is necessary and be prepared to be called on randomly!
If you show some effort in your discussions you get full credit on nearly everything. You're able to take quizzes and video quizzes two times each. I haven't needed to use the textbook once in this class and I still get A's on everything. Super easy grader on projects too. He doesn't really teach because it's online so the ball is in your court.
This class is an easy A if you do your work. I took him online & finished all of my quizzes and exams within the first week- all answers are online. The only other things are discussions & some projects. Yes he requires 250 words & there are many discussions but so what, if you cant do that then you wont be ready for a career
Extremely easy- gives 100s on just about everything, even the projects (which are time consuming/slightly difficult and theyre worth most of your grade). The Facebook group isnt bad- 2 posts & 2 comments per week. If anyone complains about him, youre the problem- not him. Take his class, easy A.
Very easy grader. Just do the assignments properly and within criteria and show you understand it, and you'll ride it out with an A. But, it's still a lot of assignments and writing, though I took it in a 5 week summer session
I made the mistake of taking this class as an expedited course. I have taken several so far, and this was the most insane. Be prepared to write 25 papers along with homework and heavy reads. He does, however, give you the grade you want for your efforts, but MAN, I wouldn't wish his class on my worst enemy!
Professor Geisler was ok, I took his online GOVT 2305 class and didn't have too much interaction with him. But, the course load is heavy. I feel like there were just way too many assignments. I luckily was not working, and 100% would not have been able to pass this class if I was working. This class is FULL TIME. Expect 9+ hours reading 1 chapter.
Very easy course, though it's a lot of writing, maybe 500 words every other day, grading was easy. As long as you showed effort, you get full credit.
Prof. Geisler is great and patient! I took Govt 2305 & Govt 2306 with him. He is very flexible with the student and gives us many chances to make up our grades. I really enjoyed the class. All the topics that I learned were very interesting; everything was clear in these two courses. There are many writing assignments and discussions, and you need
I took this course during Maymester so I expected an expedited class. He clearly laid out the terms of the class and what was expected of us. Lots of reading, tests, quizzes, daily posts, and a few large papers all due within the 3 week timespan. You had to work ahead to stay on track but he graded fairly and quickly. Excellent accelerated class!
Quizzes are easy, especially since he gives you two shots at them. Written assignments, not so much. However, he's a generous grader on those. Put some effort into it and it's an easy A. I tend to agree with the people who are saying that if you don't like him, the problem's you, not him. He does have some different methods, so be ready for that!
Great class. Easy, explains what is expected of you to be successful. No test during the summer session, only Supreme Court Charts that are very interesting to do and pretty easy. Only complaint is that after having to watch a youtube lecture of this professor for one of the last weeks, it was so good I wish we had gotten more of those!
I am a student though I struggled to get an A in the class. Ignore the reviews this class is too hard.
While Professor Geisler is laxed with the grading, there is a ton of homework about 2 to 3 assignments a week most of which you cant just do in 5 minutes. I wouldn't recommend his class, if you have a busy schedule or struggle to keep up with a lot of assignments because you will fall behind quickly.
The classwork wasn't too hard, also gave a lot of extra credit opportunities which was nice. However, I found his lectures extremely hard to sit through, many of them felt like they were repeated and I can't say how much I learned about government was from him, it was mainly from the textbook.
Professor Geisler definitely had me engaged through the entire course. His methods are not traditional but this makes for a fun and exciting course. His lectures are not extremely long and he has a good sense of humor. Be ready for lots of homework and big projects. Fun class that I would definitely take again!
Mr. Geisler was a very strange professor to me. He's pretty funny but his class is structured in a very annoying way. Lost of homework. Most of his lectures took place after the material was presented in Canvas which was honestly really stressful because it requires a lot more work. I understand why people like him but it wasn't for me.
Took this course as a Wintermester and it was easy and manageable. The only drawback is that the workload is relatively big, Expect to do a 250-word discussion post and one quiz each day on average, with 3-4 small projects. It's a big workload but he's an easy grader so no need to worry. If you do the bare minimum you can probably get an A or a B.
Honors Govt 2305. It's a lot of work. There were discussions, quizzes, 2 types of assignments spread throughout, and one project. Also required weekly FB posts OR an alternate film project. As my first honors class, he engaged my mind, and I learned a lot. Easy grader. Very organized. Clear expectations. Would definitely take him again. TAKE HIM.
Professor Giesler was the best professor at Collin College that I've ever taken. He's very chill and gets your attention in every lecture. If it is your first time taking his class, you will feel the homework is a bit weird and hard to finish, but trust me, just the first one. There is no test, only the final project. I enjoyed his class!
Hilarious professor, extremely easy course. There are a ton of assignments, however almost all are a completion grade. The two important projects are posterboards with simple information on them. He also gives a ton of extra credit but it's not necessary if you just turn in the assignments. Attendance is a grade, but you passable without attending.
Best professor ever. He made me like government, I've never liked government. Prepare to work hard though. Pretty easy to get good grades. Gives alot of extra credit. Overall, a really nice professor.
Professor Geisler is a hilarious and easygoing teacher, though his class involves a lot of assignments. Staying on top of the work is key, but with a bit of effort, you can earn a great grade. I found Unstuckstudy really helpful for managing all the readings and assignments.
I took both Professor Geisler's online 8-week Government courses. The textbooks, outlines, and lectures contain heavy reading material, but they prepare you for political involvement. I am more confident about our government than ever. Given the approvals of a few assignment extension requests after a close family death, he is also understanding.
