I agree. Class is a total waste of time because he talks about everthing else but the subject at hand nor the test material for that matter. I would not reccommend to anyone. He has no regards for time and the other classes you have after his.

Will is a great Professor! He teaches about the real things in life and not everything that's in your history book. He keeps the class exciting with great topics. Make sure you watch the news and read the newspaper because he always ask, "Can anybody tell me what's going on in the world today?"

Professor Guzman is one of the best professors at FAMU. He not only teaches you about African American History but also about life skills. Point blank if you show effort and that you care then so do he. Just dont take the class because you have too, take it for the knowledge.

This is one of the classes that i actually enjoy going to. You walk out the class knowing something new everyday. On top of that he is hilarious. You wont make it out of his class alive if you dont do the three gordon rule assignmets. You do use all the books you buy ( especially the African American Oddyssey.)

Guzman is very intelligent and passionate about history. His tests can be hard but I failed them all and still made an A. He gives you so many extra credit opportunities that there is no excuse to fail. You will actually learn in this class and you will develop an interest.

Nice man..Kinda rambles..You have to attend his class..i have no idea how he gives grades, if you avg all your stuff together it probably wont be the same grade he comes up with. He's an OK teacher i would try to find someone who keeps an accurate record of grades.

For freshmen I would not recommend him. All his extra credit is off campus. Other than that as a professor he's pretty good. His lectures make you think and you learn something new every class! He has some anger spasms sometime but they're funny to me lol

I had Dr. G for the AA Experience. Class isn't easy and requires you to study a lot on your own as his lectures aren't always on topic. He tends to ramble about current events and their relevance in History. He is a very good source for helping with resume development!

Dr. Guzman was an excellent professor for Intro to African-American History. Some may take his opinions/teaching style the wrong way, but you have to realize he lectures in a way that opens the students' minds, "liberation" as he calls it. Attend class, participate in discussion, turn-in work ON TIME and you will get an A.

We Read 5 books and did 3 book reviews. He tells u whats on final(exact ?'s).Advice in this class is study and interact with him.Do NOT plagerize(he will report u at the end of sem. and get u kicked out) and attend alL classes(3absences=F)He is very smart and passionate but you will have to earn your grade. PLEASE go to every extra credit opportunity there is. I took this class Fall 2014 and he does not give weekly quizzes. You have 3 tests and two papers. Turned in one paper in September and it wasn't graded til finals week. Read FAMU email for extra credit assignments which most of them are not located on campus. The only C I got the semester :-(

This class is not easy by any means, but you can pass if you work for it. Don't take this with other hard courses, lots of reading in AMH, only 3 test and 2 essays. Very willing to help but you must make yourself known. GET ALL THE BOOKS

I took Dr. Guzman in Spring of 2015, I was clumsy at first as in I was doing my readings late, doing my papers late, and not paying attention. But one day he had a special talk with me about hat. I took it to heart and earned a B. He challenge me. He is a good professor. If you try HARD! you will earn an A.

Guzman is a great professor. He gives loud crazy lectures and is always in your face, but again amazing. If you do the study guides then your golden for the rest. This was my second time Professor Guzman and he has truly been an inspiration in my life. He is an extremely helpful and patient professor. My best advice would be to make sure you take advantage of the extra credit opportunities, have the text book and most importantly soak up all of his knowledge about our TRUE African identity.

Be ready to read, read, read.... there are 4 test (no other assignments) so if you are not a good test taker than I suggest choose a different professor for this class. His lectures are filled with such enthusiasm and zest that when it comes time to be tested on the material, you'll know it not because you were told to memorize it, but because something in your soul was moved when you learned about it. Hardest professor I have taken, but I have learned so much in his class. He is one of the best professors at FAMU. There is a lot of reading to do and you get so much out of it. Professor Guzman really cares about his students. You must read the books to do good on the tests. You learn alot about African American history. Go to as many extra credit opportunities as possible!

Loved him!! Class was more of a conversation than a lecture. Go to all of the extra credit. My class didn't have any homework at all. You have to read the book for yourself or you are going to fail all of the test.

Professor Guzman was a great professor just make sure you go to every extra credit and make sure you read the books he assigns you.

He is a great teacher and likes to talk a lot be ready to have a lecture that has nothing to do with your text book also he gives out extra credit every week so there is no reason to fail.

Guzman is a great teacher!! Extra credit will help at the end so attend as many events as possible. He cares for his students. Guzman was like the only teacher that made my day worth it.

Dr. Guzman is really passionate about African American studies. Lectures are interesting, informative, and even funny. However, Dr. Guzman made it very clear that "he will fail you!!", although it is almost impossible to fail. We were graded on 3 exams. NO hw, NO cw! If you get the books and READ them you will pass! LOTS of extra credit!

Dr. Guzman is a talented history professor. He encourages students to engage in critical thinking about themselves and our World. I intend to take more classes with him in the future.
