He is so enthusiastic about what he teaches it is so refreshing.
Very nice, funny, enthusiastic, and helpful guy. Great class!
best teacher i have ever taken, i hated history and have never done well in it untill i took him EASY A if you take notes and pay attention
For any incoming freshmen, or any Upperclassmen filling up GERS, hes the best all around.
he reminded me of mr rogers hahaha. I would highly recommend him just be prepared to encode whatever he writes on the board.
this guy was hard to understand but very involved in student progress. I enjoyed his class and reccomend it
He's a cool guy and a great teacher. but, what i wanna know is who rated him hot?
Huge dork, but tolerable. His tests are easy...I think I went to about 25 percent of his class and got a B+. Take him if you get the chance.
Very Easy, just pay attention in class and take notes. Tests are easy. Does kinda look like MR. Rogers, but is an extremly nice guy.
What a great teacher, Take notes, and study. He's very enthusiatic about history. He is always available for help. Recommended highly
A little boring, but very informative
A very nice and helpful professor. Exams are so easy. Good class if you want an easy GER. So enthusiastic during lecture.
Nice guy. Gives study guides for tests and the essay ahead of time. Very easy. As long as you have good notes from lectures you are all set. Don't buy the book unless you want it for some reason-i've never opened mine and have gotten a's
Class is so easy. He hands out study guides that are same thing as the exam. I'm not a history major so I think class is really boring at times and his handwriting is impossible to read but it's so easy it's worth it to take this guy.
u learn stuff and dont have to read ur book...and missing like 4 classes i still got an a...hes pretty funny...but messy handwriting
He loves to teach. A true academic, he knows his stuff and is willing to help always.Tests are easy and class goes by quickly.
He is a great guy, really good sense of humor and he really knows his stuff!
Nice guy, loves history...just go to the 3 classes before each exam and you're golden
TAKE THIS MAN, HES A CUTIE! HE IS MY REASON FOR LIVING! IF I DIDN'T HAVE HIM I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO. HE IS A REAL PIECE OF EYE CANDY!!!!!OOOOWWWWWW!
TAKE HIM!!! He is so sweet!! he'll help u w/ anything! if u do bad on first test...go see him and he'll help u on the next one! only gives 1 easy h/w assignment! He loves teaching and his students!
VERY EASY COURSE, very clear and concise! Nice man too. TELLS YOU EVERYTHING ON EXAM AHEAD OF TIME! Energic and lively (even at 8AM)! TAKE HIM
I LOVE this man. He gets so excited about teaching. Very easy exams as well.
he is a man who enjoys what he does, and wants to you do well..lets just say he let us tell him what we wanted on the exam.. reviews are given for the test, he lets you pick what you wantto answer, easy class to get an A
Cute old man, who is a super good teacher. I didn't even need to get the books for the class, because the tests were directly from his notes. Sometimes he gets cared away, but its only because he loves history so much. I learned some really cool facts. Great class.
I had him for 3 history courses so far, I wish they would let him teach 300 and 400 level courses because he is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life, there is no bs with him, he knows his facts is reasonable and teaches you a lot! I highly recommend taking him!
i was NEVER good at history until i had him!notes are very clear, puts everything on the board, is always interested in what your opinions or questions are, and is really nice! tests are VERY easy. he gives a class to review and go over any notes you dont have, THE BEST hist prof EVER! TAKE HIM! he almost makes me want to change my major!
He really loves what he teaches, and thinks random things from History are wicked funny. Never needed the book. Writes all his notes up on the board for you to copy. Gives you study guides for the tests.
Good guy... takes attendance but doesnt count absentences against you... easy tests... take him!
was the funniest most quirkiest professor ever. He really knows his stuff and is willing to help you on anything...the review sheets are the tests!...never dreaded going to his early morning class. Take him on every history possible.
He is my favorite teacher and i am going to go out of my way to ake sure i get him again. he is funny and so into what he does. never gives any work, take him if u like a good lecture. sorta looks like Mr. Rogers because of the way he presents himself haha GREAT GUY.
Best Professor at BSC! VERY EASY!!!!! Gives you study guides and only 3 tests during the semester, 1 small assignment ....takes attendence but doesn't count it against you....very much into what he teaches and wants to help you with everything..Take him any chance you have!
he gets so into his lectures it's adorable. attendance is taken but doesn't matter. its not like his class isnt bearable anyway, its fun to sit through. if you do the review sheet for the tests you will ace it and still learn everything! also he's a great help with the constitution requirement!
He's the reason i look forward to taking an otherwise mundane western civ to 1500 class. soo knowledgeable in his field..it's awesome to see a prof REALLY get into what he teaches. encourages questions/opinions-wont disdain your thoughts/ideas..willingly makes the time to meet with you for questions/discussions..VERY open-minded..ONE OF THE BEST!!!
Illegible handwriting, but gives clear, helpful lectures. Also willing to talk more about subjects following a class period. Lets students pick what will be on an exam. Only one short homework assignment. Learned a lot.
he is so funny and helpful and knows so much about the field, it's really great to see a professor enjoy what he is doing. his only pitfall is that his handwriting is awful but his lecture notes are really useful. recommend taking him to anyone
the best teacher i have EVER had. Hes so easy, but you learn alot. definetly worth gettting up for his early class. Attendance does not count against you. go to the last two classes before a test and your good to go.
THE nicest man ever. absolutley LOVES history, he gets so excited talking about it, its kind of funny.
This is by far the best professor I have ever had! Very organized and always prepared. He has an incredible passion for the subject and he really cares about his students. He is flexible and you will learn a ton! I picked up a minor in History because of him, I would recommend him to anyone, I just wish he taught upper level courses too!
Wonderful teacher. Passionate about the subject and compassionate towards the students.
sooo adorable, sooo nice, and most importantly real reasonable!! knows absolute everything in history, definitely take him!! nobody could ever say anything bad about him
I didn't even buy the book. Attendance doesn't count against you, he doesn't even care if you have someone sign you in. Nicest guy, very reasonable and understanding. Willing to go out of his way and help. I barely went to class and got a B...easy grade
Great Guy!Sweet and very intelligent. no attendence policy. Easy test if you take notes. I barely ever used my book.Take him! He makes the class interesting!!
He is hands down my favorite teacher at BSC. He loves history and managed to make it interesting. Tests are easy as long as you take notes. Very helpful and when I asked him a question after class he commented on how well I was doing. Now that's how a real professor should be.
At first I loathed him... but only because it was 8am. He's very helpful, very nice, and LOVES what he does! Attendance doesn't count, but you should go and take notes. Don't buy the book - you'll never use it. He's so cute! Definitely take him if you can.. i thought i did terrible on a test and I got an 86!
Excellent class. Guy really knows his stuff and is a good teacher. He has an enthusiasm for the subject you won't find with everybody. Only two tests and a short handout assignment for the whole semester. Light course load and interesting material. Take this class if you can.
Great class. A teacher who truly loves history and explaining it to the class in a very straight forward manor. Two tests, you get to choose the Identifications you want to have on the test and study the essay you want to answer. Doesn't want anyone to do poor in the class. Great guy, def take this class!!!!!
I wish I had him for a class w/ a smaller time period and region (ex. US hist 1865-1965). Knows his stuff and truly enjoys teaching. I never opened the text, just took notes and did fine(but I love history). He gives a handout of potential exam topics and chooses 12 short answers and 1 of 2 essay questions. Very thorough, I recommend him.
I LOVE this man. He is funny, smart, and helpful. Take him!! 2 exams, 1 final, and 1 homework paper. All easy!
Big history geek, he is kinda all over the place, easy enough class as long as you go
He is the nicest man in the world! So kind and understanding! Loves history! Very energetic and happy! So helpful to students!
He is a goofy guy, but he is SO nice. He takes attendance every day and never cancels class, but he tells you the exact test questions every time so it is a pretty easy grade.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! he is SUCH a sweet man and he loves what he does.. hes an awesome professor and he makes history exciting! take him if you cann!!!!
SWEETEST old man you will ever meet! Class is a piece of cake, I have a 96 average and I never opened the book! Just show up to class every day and take notes... study for about an hour for the tests and you're fine! I seriously love this guy!
easy teacher. simply attend classes and take notes. i've missed many classes and kinda suffered from not getting notes. attendance is taken regularly but he just passes around a sheet to sign in. get a friend to sign in for you that's in the class. tests are easy. 5 short answer and 1 essay
Great guy... One of those professors that is reallly into history! -- 3 Tests... EASY! There are 5 ID's and 1 Essay, both of which he gives to you the class before on a study guide that he then asks YOU what YOU want on the test. Downside: cant read his writing. Found it easy to type notes as he talked. Book not used really, just notes. Take him!
Really easy, i never bought the book, and just went to class and wrote down everything he wrote on the board and got b's on all the tests. His hand writing is hard to decifer but he says it as he writes it. He's a really nice gy and really enthusiastic about history. I recomend him!
Very easy, helpful guy. I have no interest in history, and he made it the easiest to get an Easy A.I definitely recommend him to anyone, if you lovce history or not. He loves history but understands that it isn't easy for everyone. No HW, no quizzez, no reading, just 3 simple tests which he gives us in advance to study, then re-do in class!
so easy; you can tell he really enjoys teaching history; only a few tests and a final; never opened the book and still aced it- if you take good notes you'll do fine
Mr. Hasenfus is just a genuinely nice guy. I really enjoyed this class and he has def been the best history professor I?ve ever had. He is kind of eccentric, and his writing is awful, but he makes it interesting and simplifies things well. highly recommended. Easy class, just show up and take notes!! he knows alot of info!
Loved this class. He was so nice and understanding! Need a book. The exams are so straight foward. Really easy. He gives a lot of notes. Class is sometimes boring but overall he is a great professor! Recommended!!!!
He is so awesome! The nicest professor I have ever had at BSC. He loves what he does and knows so much. His writing is hard to read but he says everything that he writes and will repeat it if you didn't catch it all. I almost got into a fight with a girl who was giving him grief about his writing, don't mess with him he's the man!!Exams were easy!
221&222 good teacher
awesome professor. great mustache. beautiful glasses. not good writing on the board, but that doesn't matter. i missed a badillion of his classes and got a "c" without studying for any tests. he's the best.
Took his constitution class at 8 am. biggest mistake of my life. He is literally the most boring teacher I have had yet at BSC.and he looks like a white version of steve erkel. But it's a wicked easy class and he's a wicked nice guy. And he'll be your best friend if you're a history major like he is.
VERY enthusiastic about what he teaches.. makes what he's teaching a bit more interesting. His hand writing is chicken scratch, so make sure you listen to what he says while taking notes or you'll have to ask what he just wrote on the board. Not a bad class, I'd recommend him if you need to take this class.
He is such a nice guy!! i love how he is enthusiastic about what he teaches and is always wide awake for sleepy 8 am classes. Highly recommended!
He is so adorable. He loves History and is very knowledgable. He is COMPLETELY interested in mkaing sure all of his students succeed. The exams are basically given to you ahead of time. Great class, def take!
best history prof. ive had so far here. true passion for history class was a cakewalk. take it now.
Funny guy. No papers. Short anwser exam questions, but never gives full credit for them. Pretty interesting for a U.S. History class.
Hasenfus is a nice caring guy who wants his students to do well. His tests are a joke and he really gives you the answer. Although easy, the handwriting killed me. says what he is writing but his writing was just awful. DO NOT buy the textbook. Easy class and nice guy but be prepared for the bad handwriting.
Dr Hasenfus is a very nice guy but he goes off into irrelevant tangents in excruciatingly minute detail that you tune him out. Bring a digital tape recorder so you can filter through all the irrelevant stuff he says and write only the important information. Take his class!
Very nice man, knows his history and likes to express that to his students. Class was boring but easy, only 3 tests and a Constitution packet
He is such a nice guy and loves history, but his class is so boring. It is a breeze to pass though. Got an easy A by just showing up. No papers or midterm. Final is not cumulative and you pretty much get to pick what terms are on the test ahead of time. Definitely take him. It may not be your most interesting class, but it will be your easiest.
Nicest guy. Really wants his students to get A's. Attendance is taken everyday, but doesn't matter. Skipped over half the classes, still got an A. Memorize 5 or 6 terms from study guides and essay question for tests and you'll get an A. No need for the textbook, google worked for me
He is a great professor! He knows his subject very well. If you attend his class and listen to him you will not have to buy the book because everything you need to know is in the notes. He is a great guy, easy class.I definitely recommend.
Great guy that truly loves History. 3 tests and no homework. Does not require any reading. Very fair grader that I have recommended to many friends .
SO NICE AND FUNNY. attendance isn't mandatory and he tells you exactly whats on the tests
Really nice guy. Very fair and easy to get along with. Knows his stuff.
Such an easy class. He's a really nice guy too even though he rambles a lot. Don't even bother taking his notes b/c his handwriting is terrible. Even if you're on your laptop the whole time, still easy. I know he only teaches classes MWF but for a friday class, it really isn't hard. Does take attendance but not sure how much it count. Take him!
Easy A. Go to class, take note, don't bother buying the book unless you like to waste money. He gives you the answers for the test the day before. I got a 90 & above on all three exams. Take him for an easy A
This is one of the easiest classes I've taken here at BSU. Literally show up, take notes, and take one test every month or so. He gives you the study guide to the test & lets you pick the topics discussed in class that you want to see on the test! Don't bother buying the book I never used it. You get one homework assignment & I googled the answers
Super nice and passionate about history! If you take good notes, you will do well. 3 tests - and he lets you pick out the terms, with a short essay. A little eccentric but very approachable and friendly. **His handwriting is horrible** - so make sure you follow along with what he is saying. Easy A, especially if you're not into history!
he is the cutest man ever! he respects every student and honestly if you go to class and do good on the 3 tests you'll pass! you don't need the book either
easy A. got a 95 on my first test. show up and pass. he gets a bit off topic with the govt we have today, and he's not afraid to say what he thinks of certain parties but i dont think he means any offense. easiest history class i've ever taken!
LOVED him. Cutest professor I've ever had. He is ALWAYS willing to help you. Accepts late work. Gives study guides that are practically the test. He's so interested in the subject it makes listening/watching fun. If you're going to miss class.. he doesnt really care just email him. Overall, super happy I took his class. Easy A and I learned alot
One of my favorite professors I've taken. A very cute personality, really passionate about the material which makes it interesting. Highly recommend taking him. He's the best. Tests are easy, just make sure to study. Really can't stress enough how great he actually was. I would take him again in a heartbeat
Great professor! Easy class, you pick what's on the test and only need to know half that. Don't need the book. His writing is horrible to read but he says what he writes. He is very sweet and gets excited about his class lectures. He explains things in way that a child could understand.
Professor Hasenfus is a great teacher. Super easy class, great guy. I don't enjoy history but if you show up and take notes, it's an easy A. 3 test throughout the semester, no other grades. Tests: write definitions of 5 terms and pick one essay to write (the prompts are given before the test). Only negative is his handwriting is super messy.
I honestly only took this class for a month and then dropped it. He gets off topic way too easy and his handwriting is atrocious. You only learn from what he states and writes on the board and half the time it doesn't make sense. Also super hard to keep organized notes because he teaches all over the place.
Great professor. Hasenfus is the GOAT. Only class I enjoy going to. Great way to start the academic day. Lets the class pick what is on the exams. The 3 exams count for 30% each with there being one easy worksheet counting for 10% I highly recommend William Hasenfus to be your next history professor.
He tends to go into detail on his lectures and never stops talking, but knows what he is talking about. Takes suggestions for what to put on the study guides for tests, and normally the test is the exact same as the study guide. Third test was considered the final. You can tell that Hasenfus really loves his job!
An amazing guy that is as passionate about teaching and the subject than a first-time teacher fresh out of college. Loves his subject, his profession, and that same energy rubs off on every student he has. In terms of quizzes, the class as a whole gets to choose what subjects are on the quizzes, and that sort of ingenuity makes him one of the best.
You can tell he loves what he does. Best history prof I've had so far. Lectures are passionate to say the least, and exams are extremely easy. The only negative here is that his handwriting is pretty messy, but you can always ask for clarification. Absolutely would take again!
REALLY old fashioned. Doesn't use blackboard. Overall nice and cool guy. Writes his lectures on the board but you can't read his handwriting for your life. I didnt bother taking notes. Gave us specific and easy study guides, fill them out and memorize them for the 3 tests he gives. Like one hw assignment I think. Easy class but wicked boring.
He doesnt like the internet and emails so you need to show up to class. Its also all lecture because he doesnt assign any homework. Have 4 tests and 1 assignment for the semester. His hand writing is awful so try to keep up with him or youll get lost. Wouldnt recommend if you like to skip class.
Very sweet man, would 100% take any class with him. He really cares about his students and all he wants for his students and for them to pass. No homework, tests were pretty easy, accepts late work without penalty. The one downside is it is very lecture heavy and can get a little boring but if you at least somewhat pay attention youll pass
He is very nice but is VERY LECTURE HEAVY and their soooo boring
He is a pretty nice teacher and very clearly cares about the subject he teaches. His classes are very lecture heavy but it is interesting and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. His hand writing is hard to read though so you might have a hard time with that. Other than that though he is a solid choice and I highly recommend him.
A very nice professor, relaxed, lecture heavy and no homework! Just a few exams which are very easy. He gives you a study guide before each exam and includes the exact essay question which will be on the exam so you know exactly what to study. Very easy, nice guy and recommend.
The class was very easy. His lectures are boring but you can tell he loves what he does. Give three tests that are easy, he gives a study guide before each one that are very helpful. I recommend this class!
Professor Hasenfus is a very nice guy. He is passionate about what he teaches and doesnt give anyone a hard time. His class was lecture heavy, and he does have messy handwriting. He only gave three exams plus the final exam and gives good study guides before each one. Would recommend him if you do better with straightforward lectures.
Prof Hasenfus is a good professor but does not know how to reply to emails. He is well respected but his lectures are very boring and they will put many people to sleep. If you are willing to listen to him talking for a while then take this class. Beware of handwriting, you will not be able to read his notes so good luck.
Extremely lecture heavy class, most of the lecturing doesn't make sense. His hand writing is not understandable and he doesn't know how to use technology so he doesn't put things into black board. If you miss class its confusing to know whats going on. He also will tell you to study one open response question but gives you 2 making tests stressful.
His syllabus was unclear and didn't explain much during the course. He reads from a paper and writes some of it down in illegible writing on the board. He never really tried to learn our names or do anything with us. We were graded on 3 exams. We did get study guides. But he takes off points if you don't write small details.
Dr. Hasenfus reminds me of the absent minded professor, but in a good way. He is a very knowledgeable man and very kind.
great professor take
A new born has better handwriting than the guy but he means well. Don't but the textbook didn't use it once. Show up to class, take notes, you'll be chilling. Nice guy just a bit old and forgets from time to time. If you're cool with that then Will is your dude
Old man, so sweet. Although, lectures sometimes don't make sense and tests are difficult. No assignments or homework, but doesn't post anything online.
Basically theres only 3 exams that equal your whole grade. No homework or extra credit. Every class is just straight lectures, but he will hand out notes on the information he goes over because his handwringing is AWFUL. He also gives a study guide with what will be exactly on the test.
William is a great professor. He is enthusiastic about the course content, and he will go into depth into the history of America which is helpful. His handwriting is very bad, but fortunately, the notes that he gives out mostly make up for it. Grade is based on 3 exams, and you get a study guide for each one. I highly recommend to take this prof
No homework, doesn't use Blackboard, and you're only graded on two exams and one final. Lecture heavy, but you don't have to go to class because he has printed paper notes, and he gives you a study guide for the exams. Very caring man who is passionate about what he teaches.
Hes a nice guy but so unorganized. Kept randomly pushing back exam dates. Lectures would usually repeat themselves and he would start rambling, and can be hard to read his writing. Only had like 2 exams though and they weren't hard. Withought the study guides he gives you I would be so confused. Very nice and interesting but hard to follow.
Bottom line on this, GREAT guy HORRIBLE professor. Super unorganized, repeats things a lot - sometimes even whole lectures over and over. Only lectures and writes on the board (with bad handwriting), sometimes prints out papers with information. Didn't use/buy the textbook. Tests are mostly easy, the study guides are the tests (but closed notes)
