I was checking to see if there are any reports on Dr. Hoston, first week of class was excellent. I can tell this is going to be an interesting semester. UHCL doesnt have alot of professors that are interactive like him.

I just started this course but I really like him. He's very bright and good and getting people involved in the conversation. He has a unique opinion and I cannot wait to see what this semester is going to bring! A lot of writing but it's an interesting class. Plus it's always nice when the prof is hot!

I am taking the 5 week summer class online. I like the way that Dr. Hoston lays out the class in that everything, including the final, is open from day 1. It is a LOT of work though for a short semester. Lot's of reading and writing is a must but it covers important topics that are vital to us. Great prof. who requires you to think and work hard.

Makes class interesting early in the morning. Give good reviews and lots of extra credit. Test aren't bad. Covers everything. I really like the class.

He is HILARIOUS, and he is way more concerned with how you view the world than with what's in a textbook. His tests are exact replicas of the review, which you get a week in advance. Only complaint is that he required us to buy a $100 textbook that we haven't looked at once. LOTS of class debate btw.

Dr. Hoston is very easy going and understands that textbook prices are high. He gives a test review, that is basically from the lecture notes, that tells you what to study for each exam. Dr. Hoston is a professional from the start and gets right to the point on his lectures. I would have to agree with most of the GOOD posts on here. Dr. Hoston really does care about the students in his class. If you just listen to his lectures and write down what he tells you to then study you will be fine for the exams and you can talk to him.

Class is very very easy - I did not feel challenged. I do not feel that I had a firm grasp of the subject when class ended. Most of the class time is spent debating controversial topics rather than discussing the course material which is what is tested on.. Super easy tests with review though! Awesome person too! Don't skip! Attendance is critical.

I wish all my freshman classes were like this. This is a great class. Dr. Hoston challenges us to be critical thinkers and the class debates help with that. I am glad its not like boring civics in high school. Lots of extra credit. He gives a very accurate review.

I really, really enjoyed this class, which is great for a required class. Dr. Hoston requires only three assignments for the whole semester, all very easy as long as you put the work in. Definitely one of the best professors/classes I've had so far. He can seem intimidating at first but it won't take long for you to see how caring/approachable/chill he really is. The class is easy as long as you show up and complete the few writing assignments/tests he gives. The lectures are always fun, interesting, and eye-opening.
