Best teacher I've ever had. He's clever, funny and exceptionally knowledgeable. The notes (while numerous) were organized and easy to refer to. If you pay attention in a class and do a decent review of the notes, there's a pretty good chance you'll do well on the exams. The material is pretty dense, but much more enjoyable in Huddleston's class.
A great professor. He's super energetic, witty and presents the information in a clear way. Lectures are Powerpoint slides with fill in the blanks to get you engaged. He also does lots of clicker questions. Make sure you do your readings and study for the mid term and final because they're not the easiest tests to write.
Everyone always overlooks this because he's a funny guy but his tests are messed up.
Great teacher when beginning Biology in a new environment. He goes at a great pace and there is excellent clarity in his material. Make sure you attend his class, because there are notes to be taken. Made us feel welcome in class and was a great transition from high school to university. I truly wish all teachers were like him!
Huddleston is a great prof. He really gets into the material and genuinely cares about his student's learning. HOWEVER his exams are RIDICULOUSLY unfair. We only got 2 hours to do 75 multiple choice questions and 5 or 6 multi-part written responses. I would NOT recommend his class purely because of how unrealistically difficult the exams were.
so....prolly the hardest bio course I've ever taken in my life...this is shared among all of my friends and I kid you not! I got A+ in bio231 and still think this course is just so hard... Hardness: Bio331>bchem 393>ochem353.
Good prof but tests are extremely hard!!
His portion of the course as hard in that there was way too much to memorize. Basically, clear your mind of everything else when it comes to his midterm, you need all the space in your head to memorize everything that he explains in lecture. Make sure to attend all lectures and do all readings.
He was easy to understand in lectures but come exam time you might as well memorize the textbook and notes
He was nice and a good enough teacher. He teaches you everything you need to know for exams but beware that his exams are pretty hard and I'd say, to a certain extent, unfair.
Super friendly, super funny. Makes CMMB about as fun as it can be. His lectures are well-organized and he relies on the textbook a lot, so read it. His exams are very tough, but that has a lot to do with the inordinate amount of material one has to cram into one's head for this course in general. It should be split into two courses. Nice guy :)
Awesome =) Very organized, provides good notes, makes bio interesting
His tests are SO hard. You need to know every little minute detail of everything you've covered in class and everything from the readings. Luckily, the grading curve for the class is pretty low, so you can still get an A or B without getting about 90%. Also, he makes jokes and tries to be engaging so his classes aren't that bad, just the tests are.
Dr. Huddleston, you are such a nice, witty guy. Your lectures are great, they are clear and logical. WHY THEN ARE YOUR TESTS SO EFFING HARD??!! Oh well. I have no advice for future students because I sucked at this portion. Cross your fingers and memorize.
His tests weren't easy but he is a great prof to listen to, and awesome in lecture. If you have any interest in cellular biology you will love this course, if not you probably won't like it... sorry. I just loved his class, and it's mandatory for bio majors anyway so suck it up if you don't.
He is a good guy, good teacher, good notes, BAD TESTS. Everything seems crystal clear in lecture but the exams are very involved. You REALLY need to study every detail.
PLEASE STUDY. If you know the notes he gives you, good for you. Go check out the textbook!! You may be under the impression everything is all fine, but the tests can be really quite unpleasant, specific, and long. So make sure you know your stuff. Besides that, he is a friendly, funny, and quirky professor. You probably won't get too bored.
This is a very good prof, very good in teachin[actually very funny].His slides are really self explanatory,a bit of textbook reading along with the slide will help ya a lottt..he is peculiar in covering all the minute details in clss,so umportant parts are covred in class...so as to pass the course..this is more than enough
he's very funny, and makes class enjoyable but he's by far the hardest teacher ever. His exams and midterms are INSANE. HIS TESTS are not like what you learn in lectures, you might as well memorize the whole textbook, and even that's not enough!! HES SUPER HARD
Pretty epic as a teacher. I can see why people claim that his tests are hard. He makes you apply applications of concepts (if that makes any sense)in his tests. I would still reccomend, but make sure you study. Hard.
Very funny prof, great lectures that really make you focus and cracks a lot of joke. It'll seem like everything is going fine until the midterm/final which are ridiculously hard. I recommend him if you can't get into Dr. Addy's lecture
Hilarious guy that really keeps you interested in lecture. He also has a great way of explaining things that really help clarify harder concepts. People complain that his tests are hard, but he gives you all the info you need in lecture so its up to you to take the time to learn the concepts. Overall an excellent teacher a great way to start bio!
Great guy with an excellent personality, he really keeps you focused in class with his jokes and analogies. His test are hard but fair, everything in in the lectures. Study the fine details and you will excel. Overall a great professor get him if you can!
Tests are difficult but always fair. Extremely easy to follow in lectures and is a VERY good prof overall, with clear notes and lots of good videos to help you understand them.
Very funny teacher and strays away from the topic at times but the worst thing is his tests. Very hard, you must know every little detail of the book and READ QUESTIONS VERY CAREFULLY! There are a lot of little trick questions that he puts on his tests to maintain a C average in his class.
This guy is not a good teacher. He designs extremely hard exams( doesn't even teach half of things in class , and test you on something random + frm other bio courses. Our class avg was 60 on midterm and he gave us hardest final.. So, more than half the class failed.Don't take him for BIO 231 take heather Addy or some else. He made me hate bio
Don't take him for bio 231 Period.She/He is right. He definably made me rethink about my major.
HARDEST TEST EVER! like redonkulously difficult. Bio went from being my best subject to my lowest grade. Huddleston is a good prof and teaches well but his exams are really impossible, study way prior to the exam, memorize EVERY detail in his notes and make sure you do the readings... you'll probable get an 80 doin that.
He makes the class enjoyable with his enthusiasm and jokes. The class was just the right amount of challenging; you have to show up for lectures and study with the textbook but it's not super time consuming. If you go see him with questions or anything he is really easy to talk to and very helpful. Overall my favourite professor :)
one of the most awesome punk profs i have ever had....really awesome classes, funny classes, clear classes....but ....BUT for tests..better you understand the concept in and out...everything should be understood crystal clear...I would recommed some extra reading too...plus an interest in Bio..if u dont have these 2..jus go wid smother profs..
Best Prof ever!!!! So cool, and nice.
Huddleston is an awesome prof..he make the class very entertaining and interactive..but wen it comes to midterm and final..u gotta know ure stuff but the midterm is like 50 times easier than the final.final was much more challenging...just do the readings before attending lecture and keep up with all the powerpt notes and revieww as much as possibl
An amazing guy who makes class fun! It was the only class that I truly loved going to!!! But beware: His tests are HARD!!!
He is an awesome prof. I never wanted the 50 minutes of the class to be over. His exams are challenging because he tests you on your thorough understanding of the material. simple memorization won't help you! His notes are very helpful. But if you're just in class because you thought bio is the "easy science" expect to get a low grade!
Welcome to university, this isn't high school anymore, you need to WORK to get the grade. Huddleston is awesome, very enthusiastic, he made an outline of everything you need to know for the exam, if you knew every concept on his list, this class was an easy A, probably not 95+, but still an A.
For all of those who say his tests are easy if you study, you are WRONG!! you can study all you want, for days and you'll still barely pass his tests! I thought his midterm was hard, but his exams was just impossible. Memorization won't do! THIS GUY IS THE REASON WHY IM CHANGING MY BIO MAJOR! WARNING! DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
funny teacher but funniness doesnt not guarantee you a passing grading. his tests are sooo unfair and impossible! memorizing his notes and the textbook wont cut it, honestly! DONT TAKE HIM, if you do prepare yourself to FAIL!
hardest professor ever!!! his tests are so unfair, study of dont study either way you wont pass his tests! its the truth
True, his tests are hard, but not impossible. Study and work hard and you will succeed
For those who are complaining his class is impossible...it's not! If you put in some effort you will do well. If you guys failed the exams, you're obviously not studying correctly. Use his notes as a guidelines, USE THE TEXTBOOK and be sure you UNDERSTAND the concepts and can APPLY that knowledge. DO NOT CRAM for an exam. Great prof though.
He's a great prof, but his midterm and final are BRUTALLY hard! You circle empty multiple choice questions rather than answering them.
Don't let his easy-going personality fool you. Most of his multiple choice questions consist of answers like: "A or B", "A and C", "only three of the above are true". Thus, you have to know the tiniest details about a concept or you get the whole question wrong.
BEST BIOLOGY PROF! The class is extremely easy, and his tests are fair and reasonable. For those who that think his tests were hard, should really be prepared for all their other higher level biology courses...which will be MUCH HARDER! If first years haven't realized it yet, all bio sci courses require knowledge of details! It is a key!!!!
Huddleston is a really great proff but his tests are very, very meticulous! You need to know every little detail. If you pay attention in class, review the day's lesson at home, and study everything in detail you will get a good mark. Don't goof off in this class or go in thinking you'll ace it like high school biology, because you won't.
He is a great speaker, so his lectures seem like bio is a joke. BUT its not, his test are really difficult, be sure to study in advance and read the textbook, thats what i did and i managed to pass. However on the written part of the exams put every single detail in even if he doesnt ask for it, cause at the end he will dock marks.
Professor Huddlston is arguably the best prof in the science department. He is engaging and interesting. He is also passionate about what he's teaching. His tests are hard, but not unfairly so. If you can get him. Do so. You will learn tons. However make sure you attend class, because his notes are fill in the blank, and very detailed.
Some of the topics in intro biology courses a bit dry, but he made lectures thoroughly enjoyable. Excellent notes, and quirky sense of humour. Class is challenging but manageable if you are prepared to study. Great prof!
Excellent professor; easily my favourite to date. If you find him to be a hard prof, be warned; he is the easiest prof you can exprect for the next 3 years in biology. Excellent notes and a brilliant (albeit nerdy) sense of humour! I highly recommend him as a prof!
Awesome prof. Tests REALLY HARD.
One of the best profs at the U of C (besides Dr. Addy of course). His tests are very hard because of the way the questions are designed to test your application of the knowledge which can lead to confusion and would not recommend if you have test anxiety as you will skip over important parts of questions (like me).
Dr.Huddleston is an amazing prof! He has a great sense of humour and made it enjoyable to go to every lecture. His notes are very good and detailed. His exams are difficult though. They require a lot of studying to know details and how to apply knowledge, but don't miss out on him just because you don't want to put in some work!
Amazing prof but tests are really really hard! be ready to study your ass off!
He's funny, helpful, easy to follow. All round great teacher, I haven't had a midterm yet though (People from last semester said it was hard as nails), but if you put in the effort, you'll get a well deserved grade.
good prof!
By far the worst prof ever!!! His exams are impossible. And for all those people who say his class is easy, you are not normal. I had 40% higher in bio 233 than in bio 231. That goes to show how hard his class is. He expects u to memorize the textbook. U will only do well if u have a good memory. Also he is a bad and UNFAIR marker/ test maker.
Dr. Huddleston was one of the best instructors I've ever had. His exam was of MODERATE diffculty - they aren't hard but they require thinking on top of memorization, something he even warns you about. If he teaches intro bio next year, TAKE HIS COURSE
He was hilarious. It really helped to do the readings though. His tests are fairly hard and require you to know the topic well. Overall a good teacher, you will do well if you're willing to put in some time.
Makes lectures enjoyable and is very clear. Signifies key points and his review session is helpful. Midterm is much harder than sample questions asked in class.
BEST PROF EVER. Our whole class thought he was Sheldon Cooper's doppleganger. He was hilarious and really knew his stuff. You do need to study and pay attention and attend his classes but overall, one of my favourite classes of first year.
He is an amazing professor. He makes the classes fun, but the course overall is difficult. It is best to attend all classes and do all the reading, as long as you are willing to do the work required his class is definitely worth it!
Helpful prof. that seems nice and cuddly during lectures. But be prepared for the exam/midterm because they are hard!!!!
by far the hardest class ever because of his tests! if u want to take it do lots of reading and asking questions. Dont be fooled if the lecture seems easy, cuz the test are horribleee
Really funny professor, makes the entire class laugh hard. Looks like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. Explains things well, very easy and not at all intimidating to ask questions. I don't know what all these people are talking about regarding the midterm though, because I just took it and it's no harder than a high school biology test or diploma.
SO funny. He's so helpful and patient if you go ask for help during his office hours! But be prepared for his tests. holy crap. they are hard. But BEST prof yet by far!!
He had a Hard Midterm! Classes are enjoyable but beware the exams!!
He was really awesome in his teachings, and really helpful when you go to his office hours. The exams are fair in testing your knowledge, so don't blame him if you do bad. Other than that he's really funny as well and gives you a good reason to attend all his classes.
Knows his stuff, humorous and very clear speaker. As for the tests they're regular tests, study up a bit and you'll do fine.
My favourite prof this semester. Huddleston actually puts effort into teaching - he has the most organized, clearest notes and makes lectures very worthwhile and enjoyable. Attend all lectures and fill in the slides, his exams are really fair if you study. Highly recommend him!!
Great prof, very funny and able to see things from the students' perspective. His THM questions are good exam prep and this class is really well organized. You have to attend the lectures - he is not a textbook only teacher! :)
Great prof. Highly reccomended.
Awesome Prof! I can almost guarantee he will be the best prof you have in first year. To give an idea of it, at the end of our last lecture everyone applauded him. Goes over the material well, very friendly and helpful with questions. If you can take Mr. Huddleston, do it!
William is a fantastic lecturer. He is clear and concise. Every lecture is entertaining, with a variety of supplementary material to help you to understand the material. He is always very helpful and will often respond to email questions within an hour. Although, I do not know how the other instructors were, I can say that William is a great choice
Mr.Huddleston was great! His lectures were great and he makes class fun. Sometimes important details aren't included in the powerpoint slides but if you listen and pay attention you can catch the details and write them down. Overall it was a good class :)
Best prof in sciences. Take his class! You'll actually enjoy going to bio. Pay attention to things he talks about a lot and you'll do well. You'll also have a lot of fun and actually find his jokes funny.
Take his class if you can! Lectures are funny and interesting (as it could be), knows his stuff and is great at explaining. Fairly easy lecture but make sure to study for exams which can be quite difficult.
very helpful prof, he is very approchable, but his exams are hard! so come to class and pay attention but even if you do you need to put in extra time. overall a great class, enjoyable
His lectures are very entertaining, they keep me very awake. His stories and the way he teaches is easy to understand and easy to follow. Not a lot of notes because you make your own from the textbook. Midterm was very fair, all questions on it were covered by either him or the textbook.
Awesome teacher, funny, entertaining and lecture slides are not clustered with information. Quizzes and midterm was just like textbook readings so make sure to not just know the major stuff but ALL the stuff (even examples). Make sure to write examples down that he goes over, they are on the midterm.
Best Professor Ever! I took first year bio wit him, and he is clear, entertaining, hilarious, and possibly the most stimulating person to ave a conversation with. Class is never boring, and he always manages to incorporate humour and urban culture into the lectures. Very much recommend him
best prof ever. very entertaining, makes class fun even though its boring (a bit), must read textbook though because exam is a bit difficult
He's fun, interesting to listen to and makes bio really fun and you learn alot! I would recommend him!
Mr.Huddleston is a good prof. His lectures are often interesting and he's usually able to present his ideas through multiple ways. His exams are fair if you study very well for them. The textbook is recommended
extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable! one of my favorite profs yet! enjoyed the sense of humor, this was my favorite class this term :)
He was a really fun guy who clearly understands a lot and passes that on well. The tests are difficult but if you study not too bad!
Dr. Huddleston has been my favorite prof so far. He is obviously very passionate about what he teaches and he made lectures extremely interesting. He doesn't take himself too seriously, so it is a lot of fun. I actually looked forward to his lectures, and I learned a lot throughout this course. I strongly recommend taking a class with him!!
Huddleston was a great professor. He kept class very interesting, was hilarious, and was enthusiastic. Very genuine person. I would definitely recommend a class with him. Exams are difficult and text book reading as well as attending class is absolutely necessary.
The best professor!!! Teaches pretty hard concepts so they are easy to understand. Very funny. He makes the lectures interesting and super dull topics a bit more fun. Study hard for the tests though!!
A good prof, obviously loves biology. Always stays behind after to answer any questions. Very approachable. Make sure to study, as the tests can be a little difficult (mostly because this course covers so much material). Would definitely take a course with him again.
really nice and approachable!
Hands down favourite prof at U of C so far. Well organized, actually interested in teaching, and super approachable!
Overall a very difficult class with lots of readings. Review and teaching yourself is important but a great prof. He made it interesting and explained topics well.
His online quizzes and midterms are tougher than the other profs. I guess he's preparing us for the 300-level BIOL courses. However his lectures are amazing, interesting, and he's a good speaker. If you put effort, a good grade can be achieved.
Great prof! Corny jokes, but is able to communicate the large amount of material. Buy the textbooks and USE them. Attend every single one of his lectures!
Good prof !
Pay attention in class because answers not found in the textbook will be on exams. Amazing professor, passionate, I loved his class.
I am reflecting back on this course three years after taking it. I agree with many of the comments on here - his exams may be more difficult than you are used to from high school, but his exams are pretty indicative of upper-level courses in the department. He is preparing you for the next few years of your program. If you find it hard now ... uhoh
Took this course (which is now Biol 241) with Bill in 2010 and hands down he is the greatest prof in the Faculty of Science. Not only does he go out of his way to help students but he is also a great person. Tests are challenging and you MUST study for them but they are fair. Study like a moro and you will be rewarded
He is very passionate about his work and he made every class entertaining. Be sure to attend ALL of his lectures!
He reminds me of Sheldon from the Big bang theory. He's a very good prof and explains the concepts very clearly.
Amazing prof, extremely passionate about what he does. He always keeps lectures interesting by cracking some jokes. Tests are challenging but going to the lectures is a must.
Mr. Huddleston is a very good and caring professor! He spices up classes with his humour and teaches very clearly. You MUST attend lecture in order to succeed. Textbook is not really necessary in my opinion. Expectations for the final were not super clear. It was harder than the midterm but was reasonably fair. Lab marking is questionable at times.
Very easy course with helpful practice tests for the midterm and final. His lectures were interesting and fun.
He was helpful and entertaining. Wish I had him for the first half. The part he taught was much easier. The final was still brutal though.
I absolutely love Dr. Huddleston! Final was super hard but premidterm was ok. Very helpful and practice quizzes help a lot.
Very clear and helpful prof and not to mention, hilarious. You are lucky if you have him as a prof. Definitely recommend
very good prof, kind of funny :)
One of the best profs I've had. He was very engaging and made the lectures interesting. Made a difficult class a little easier by making lectures easy to pay attention to. His tests were fairly difficult but if you show up to class and take good notes you can do well.
GREAT prof for Bio 241. Try to get into his class, he is great and really good at explaining concepts.
Great guy! loved his half of the semester!
His half of the semester was based on interpreting graphs and linking those to concepts. He explained everything really well and used awesome examples! Having not even bought the textbook, this was my best course by far. Go to all classes, print the slides and you're golden. Would totally take another course with him!
Good prof, he's a funny guy. Only bad thing about him is i found that the in class assignments to be kinda stupid and unclear but other then that I enjoyed him as a teacher. I'd suggest printing out the lecture notes and bringing them to class and to take your notes on them since it seems he kinda designs them with that intention.
I found his lectures very good, however when it came to studying for exams I was always very confused on what to study for, he lacks clarity. TEXTBOOK IS EXTREMELEY USELESS AND HARDLY MATCHES THE COURSE.
He is an amazing teacher! super funny and makes lectures very interesting!!! definitely recommend him!
I went to his lectures instead of Cartar's. BEST DECISION EVER. He's charming and can explain concepts clearly at the same time!
One of the best professors i've had in the university. Willing to help but is more charismatic in class than one on one. He is very clear and able to convey the message across. Very intelligent person who has excellent communication skills. Also has very good sense of humor. Take him!
Huddleston is a hilarious and excellent lecturer. He's very clear about the materials you need to focus on before the midterm final exam. However, this class is not an easy class, if you're just take this course for fun, BAD CHOICE! Be sure to read all the required readings and some units on the textbook or the exam won't be merciful.
Huddleston is a very charismatic professor, but his tests are brutal. Expect a lot of questions that require verbal reasoning.
Huddleston is an amazing lecturer and a cool guy. But unless you're a smart ass, crack that textbook open and read the required readings because going to lectures alone won't save you! This is a difficult course and Huddleston would be the best choice!!! Biol 241 should always be taught by him
I wasn't even in his lecture but I went there since he is the best out of the 241 professors. Very clear and easy to understand. Makes lectures interesting and very helpful if you need to clarify something. To the other people saying 241 is hard... just wait until 2nd year LOL. 241 is one of the easiest classes you can take.
Probably the best Science prof at UofC. Very down to earth and helpful when it comes to understanding what it is that you'll need to know. Some material is more challenging but everything you'll need to know will come from his notes. I would definitely recommend taking this course in the Spring.
He is the worst prof i ever had. I don't get it how people think he's funny because he is not. I have no idea what is he saying in the class, the slides are a mess and he goes all over the place. WOULD NEVER TAKE ANOTHER CLASS WITH HIM EVEN IF MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT
Definitely not an easy A course. Took this course to prepare for the MCAT and didn't expect it to actually require so much work. He's a friendly prof though and I enjoyed his lectures. Don't understand why people are so tough on him, it's a class of 200+, you NEED to work to get your grades, not his fault if you don't.
Instead of Dr. Mee, I went to his lectures because he's a charismatic guy who really knows the topic and presents it with clarity. He's funny and his class is enjoyable but the tests are brutal, you've really got to know your content in depth by heart. Overall, I wouldn't mind being in his class again!
Huddleston did a great job teaching an incredibly dry course. He explained material thoroughly in lectures. If you don't attend, the textbook won't really help you as much of his material came from graphs taken from alternative sources. Study hard for the final as you've really got to have an in-depth understanding of the graphs.
After really enjoying the first half of this course (taught by Dr. Turner), I was quite disappointed with Huddleston's half. His lecture notes consisted of a randomly assembled collection of graphs that you just had to memorize, and very few concepts to learn. Lab marking was questionable. However, the tests were reasonable, the midterm was easy.
Make sure you go to the lectures because a lot of the information he tests on is not written in the notes. Final for BIOL241 was not cumulative but very difficult. Memorization doesn't take you too far; you must understand the materials in depth and this depth has to be reached based on your efforts due to a lack of resources.
My nightmares consist of Huddleston explaining his graphs to me.
Huddleston was a very concise and excellent professor! He lectured slowly but made very boring information easy to learn. I recommend switching into his class if possible because he was much better than the other first year BIO professors.
For a very boring topic (ecosystems), he made learning really fun. Make sure to study well though, the final was HARD.
Terrible prof. Avoid
He's a funny guy who looks really serious, but he makes reproductive jokes all throughout the unit. He also has "fill-in-the-blank" notes, which are pretty good.
Really enjoyed his lectures and his style of teaching the material. Very helpful outside of the classroom also. I would definitely take a course again with him.
One of the best Bio profs, for first year. He makes things clear, so you can understand what you have to know. Very hard class but for most its not optional.
bless billy hudds and his pure pure soul
He is good guy, and easy to listen to he is great in the first half of the course. But after that half all he did show graphs of things over and over. I was so confused for the second half. But for a pretty boring class he makes it reasonable
Billy Hubbs is a real gem. Such a dad.
HUGE BEAUTY. Great prof
Good old Huddleston, such a beauty. Wasn't in his lecture section but went all semester. Makes everything super engaging, willing to (nicely) make fun of students who sneeze excessively, notes are great, easy to understand. 10/10, you'll love this nerd.
He is a really good professor. You have to attend class since he doesn't post the complete lecture on d2l, he posts the basics and fills the blanks and diagrams in class. He explains things really well, and he is super funny in class. If you can take his class, I really recommend it!
Go to lectures is a must, since he uses fill-in-the-blank slides. The notes are very helpful and on-point when it comes to the exams. Lectures are amusing - Prof. Huddleston has a great sense of humour. Not a lot bad to say - be aware that the first half of the course has quite a lot of readings though!
very funny and a good teacher
He uses fill-in-the-blank notes, and tests almost exclusively on that content. Helpful tips on important material are also given during class. He was funny and always engaging and entertaining the class.
he's a good professor but he doesn't post any of his lecture notes online, so if you miss class then there is no way to know what you missed.
SUCH an amazing prof. The lecture material was difficult because it's a first year required bio course, but Huddleston made every lecture make so much sense. He said everything, then took time to write everything down, and then he drew graphs and pictures with you to fully describe concepts. Wish I had him for every single bio course
I loved Huddleston! The class was great and fairly easy as long as you studied for it. The quizzes were really simple as well. Watch out for the labs though, they're really the only thing that can bring your grade down (especially the lab final).
Decent prof, but a 1/5 for fill in the blanks slides. Why hinder students access to information? It is honestly the dumbest thing, this is University not kindergarten
Entertaining instructor and interesting course. Truly cares about students and is fantastic at explaining things.
He is a really good prof and really knows his stuff. My only complaint is that he doesnt make the lab manuals that he writes available for download on D2L so that youre forced into buying them lol meanwhile lab manuals are free in pretty much every other class that isn't bio
Great professor! Really knows his stuff. Lectures are a must! Uses fill-in-the-blank slides so there is no way of getting the content without going to lecture! Loved him as a professor though. Such a dad
Really good prof! takes the time to explain everything and uses lots of examples to understand better. Test are fair but hard at the same time. Only complaint is that the labs are not found on D2L which would have made it easier to have access to them. Otherwise he is highly recommended!
He is definitely by far the best professor Ive had. Has a great sense of humour and his lectures are very helpful. Would recommend him 100%
Huddleston is by far my favourite prof, he is great at simplifying complex concepts and is very engaging in lectures. His note slides are awesome & provide everything you need to know IF you go to lectures to fill in certain parts. He always specified what to focus on as he went through the material, & his midterm review session was AMAZING!!!!
He is very approachable and his lectures are not boring at all because he explains everything so well. In addition to actually understanding what he is teaching, he also has a very good sense of humour.
He makes biology fun and interesting. He explains things clearly and the information is always relevant to exams. No prep or textbook reading mandatory would highly recommend you see Prof. Huddleston, he is the BIOL KING.
Great Prof! Would highly reccomend
Huddleston was great at covering all of the material both clearly and in a good amount of time. He is both professional and light-hearted. 10/10
Awesome professor, keeps the class engaged and excited the whole class. Does a great job at teaching and making sure the concept makes sense.
Was an awesome prof. Only complaint is that he switched lecture sections in the middle of the semester which practically screwed us...
He's a really engaging professor who makes it clear what he's looking for. His lectures are easy to follow and super helpful if you attend
He is really funny and tries to make lectures interesting, but this is a super difficult course, especially the labs.
Huddleston is a wonderful prof to have because he is funny and he goes through the topics in a way that are easy to understand. I had him before the midterm, and while I did terrible, it was not because of him. I initially thought this course was not hard but then the exam came and I had totally not expected some of the questions they can ask.
I had Huddleston for the second half of Biol 241. He was amazing and I'm hoping for him again at some point in my future! He's really funny and can goof around but also really knows his stuff and is able to answer any questions thrown his way. The final was really easy compared to the midterm!
Hudds is an awesome prof! The course is relatively difficult, but he was organized, prepared, and knew how to teach his subject well. The tests were difficult, but a fair representation of what was covered in class. Only note I would make is that the textbook is really quite optional. If you show up, you probably won't need it.
Really funny guy, really enjoyed his class. Of course with this class or any class you need to study hard for the exams.
By far my favourite prof. His lectures cover a lot of material but he explains everything clearly and enthusiastically. Jokes around lots so his lectures are pretty enjoyable. Such a cool dude, hope I can have him again in the future.
I had Mr. Huddleston for the first half of BIOL 241 and he was an excellent instructor! He engages students with his sense of humour, makes concepts clear and as easy to understand as possible, and is very approachable. If you pay attention in class, ask for clarification if necessary, take good notes, and just do as he says you'll be fine. :-)
I love this man. hands down one of the best profs ive ever had, his notes were bomb, he had glorious lectures and he was a real daddy if you know what I mean. 10/10 would recommend y'all.
Huddleston has the best notes, doesn't post them so make sure you go to lectures. Really good at explaining difficult concepts easily. Make sure you print out the skeleton notes beforehand, or have a tablet/labtop because he goes by the material fast.
Dr. Huddleston is one of the best profs at this university! Very caring and treats student with respect! Hes always approachable and willing to discuss grades and show you how to improve. Amazing!
Really sweet person, he's super helpful outside of class if you go to tutorials. Tries to make the material a lot more fun by adding in jokes and sly comments. Course itself was okay - exams were tough but labs were fun and easy. Make sure you go to class! he doesn't post any notes and take additional notes in class as well
He knows what he is doing, and he does it well:) -good explanations -reasonable amount of assignments I wish he taught more than just first year
He is an amazing prof, would love to have him for all my biology lectures.
One of the best bio profs in the university. Knows what hes doing and tries to make class interesting. Overall amazing guy, very nice and funny. Definately take him!!
Huddleston is honestly one of the best lecturers I've ever had. Lectures are rarely boring which makes it much easier to listen and pay attention. Spoken with him outside of class and he's an easy going and straight up guy. Honestly no issues with him.
I really enjoyed my time with him. I thought he was an amazing professor. He was very funny and obviously passionate about his subject which made lectures more interesting. All around great person and I really enjoyed his lectures. Just a warning, the lectures he posts online have blank spaces because he fills them in during class so go to class!
Huddleston was one of my favourite profs I had this semester! So fun and charismatic and cares a lot for his students. As for the course itself, it is on the more difficult side, especially the lab write-ups. My biggest tip would be to find a group to do all the D2L quizzes with!! Even if they are not worth a lot, getting a high mark on them helps!
Friendly guy and he makes the course material interesting.
Funny, engaging, and knowledgeable.
Mr. Huddleston is a really great lecturer, and he explains things in a really simple way that is easy to understand. Tests were fair, textbook isn't required but going to class is pretty much required because he fills in the lecture slides in class. Overall a great experience, I hope he teaches upper level courses too!
Great instructor, super nice and approachable. You can tell he loves the subject he teaches. Makes a boring class much better.
Very organized, good one on one. Passionate about the material. The course itself is challenging and there is lots of little things to do all the time that really add up. My advice would be to spend time doing the little things even though it may not seem worth it.
Huddleston is an amazing prof. He was funny, kind and approachable. He presented the material in an interesting way and did his best to help everyone succeed in the class. The midterm was unnecessarily hard but that is on all the BIOL241 professors and had they curved it the course would've went much better for lots of students.
Honestly the best BIOL prof that I've had so far. He is hilarious and he makes every lecture bearable. You have to work hard to ace his tests though.
Huddleston is a solid proffesor who provides clear templates and notes for all his lectures. He did miss up on grading one of our lecture quizzes but your tophat score can replace it anyways.
Awesome professor and is engaging during lectures. I enjoyed his class. You must study very hard for the midterm to pass though.
Average teacher, terrible course coordinator. Maintains a pleasant and professional demeanour until you challenge him on the rubric and grading. Would rather bully students into stepping down from addressing inconsistencies or ambiguity in quiz and lab questions than take the time and effort to understand another person's view and adjust.
I am an alien trying to study human beings as a mission for my overlords. Taking Huddleston's class really did improve my understanding of how life works since he is very organized in his teaching. I found the labs difficult however since my planet has more advance technology and I was not used to the ones here on earth. Overall, a great dude!
Huddleston is the type of professor that all professors should aspire to be. He lectures in a clear, simple and concise manner, he is clear on deadlines and marking criteria, and he has the most well structured class ever. Clear break times, good TopHat questions, posted old exams for us to study from. Admittedly, the midterm was very difficult.
Great profs, one of the best ones I had in first year. He teaches in a very clear manner. I would definitely take another class with him. He's nice and will help clear up concepts if you ask. Really good powerpoint presentations.
Huddleston is by far one of the best people that I have EVER met in my life. He is extremely sympathetic, kind, and very compassionate. I 10/10 recommend him as a prof. God bless his soul, this man is gold! Keep it up Huddleston! AMEN
I found Professor Huddleston's lectures very worthwhile as well as entertaining. He was also quick to respond to emails. But attending lecture was practically mandatory in this class since none of the annotated lecture slides were posted online and some of the material couldn't even be found in the textbook.
A relatable professor. His teaching style is perfect for what the course is. He cares about his students and the course.
His lectures were amazing. He was really kind and super funny, kept extremely boring material much more interesting. Approachable outside of class and gave relatively good feedback. 10/10 would take his class again
Good prof who is very passionate about the subject. First midterm was TOUGH, final was easy. Had exam reviewing sessions and was very helpful with feedback, seemed to care a lot about helping his students improve.
Dr Huddleston is easily the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of being taught by. The course is very content heavy, and posted prior to the lecture so you can follow along. The midterm is harder in comparison to the final, but study regularly and you will succeed. Very well organized !
Great prof! Was super passionate and knowledgable. Final for the course is much easier than the midterm. Be ready to draw a ton of graphs in your notes for the second part of the term.
Notes are not posted after class so either attend or get them from a friend. Good teaching style and very friendly. Midterm/final are difficult but manage your time right and you'll be fine. Study for lab final or you won't do well, write ups aren't too hard but what TA you have will effect your grade.
Dr. Huddleston is one of the nicest professors I have spoke with. Both Bio 241 and 243 were quite hard in my opinion but Dr. Huddleston was extremely kind and professional. His lectures were clear and concise. He answered questions thoroughly and took the time to answer the questions I had.
He was our lab professor and was in charge of teaching the lab portion. During the open labs, he gave very good feedback and was very kind. Very approachable and friendly.
Moves very fast so pay attention or u'll miss a lot. Tends to assume u know everything, so u have to remember everything from your HS courses and also go through ur notes b4 classes or u'll fall behind bc he doesn't take time to explain. You have to do a lot of studying in ur own time to keep up. Wouldn't recommend if u can't learn independently.
He is an amazing professor and he explains everything very vividly. Coming to his class is pretty much mandatory since he annotates his notes as he talks. He responds to emails pretty fast and had answered all my questions. His quizzes aren't hard if you study and look over his notes. Overall a great professor.
A really great prof I'm gonna cry if I don't get him at least once more in my university career. Makes class enjoyable, is approachable and just a great person. Ofc as an intro bio class, expect the midterm to be difficult so yes you do have to work hard in this class but that's uni.
Huddleston is a wonderful prof, full of excitement and passion. As course coordinator though, he clearly makes things challenging, especially the tests which are tricky and loaded with nit-picky questions on short, scheduled, timed exams every week. Great at explaining, but moves fast in lec, very short with student requests (Ex. re-grades etc.)
William was a great prof for Biology! Very well-versed and experienced, gives positive feedback when asking about grades, cares about his students.
He was one of the best profs a first year could ask for!!! Super informative lectures and he made them interesting.
Such a sweeyie
Honestly made his part of the lecture tests a lil bit more tickey, I would not say that they were impossible (actually quite fair) however the time given was not enough.
Huddle was an amazing prof mainly because he made so many jokes that made class more bearable, and he taught the content really well (connecting topics to each other and explaining why things are the way they are). The tests were weekly and they were alright if you study the lecture notes enough. There were only a few labs in the semester too.
such a gem!! definitely recommend taking the class with him, even as it was online he was super engaging and extremely nice!! he will always explain concepts no matter how many times it's asked or if someone doesn't get it! honestly a biol god!
I took his class online and he was great at explaining everything and made it fun and entertaining.
Dr. Huddleston is an absolute gem. He is very quick in responding to emails and takes the time to answer any questions as best as he can. He is also very open to helping individuals with class work and gives great advice for any issues you may be having. I recommend taking his classes as he makes the lectures enjoyable and is very helpful!
Dr. Huddleston is an amazing biology prof. He knows the material inside and out and explains complicated concepts like he is teaching you shape names. Would 100% recommend to anybody. Fair tests but you need to study to pass like any other bio course. People who are giving low ratings must not have been aware of the work a bio course takes. 10/10!!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Unit tests every Monday and he made the online learning fun.
Dr. Huddleston has a clear and concise teaching method, you can really tell that he is loves what he teaches. His humor made the online classes bearable, and his teaching method made the online classes worthwhile. Don't hesitate to reach out to him because he is very willing to help and responds quickly :)
This guy's a gem. Clear explanations during the lectures, his tests are very fair and assess what's taught (no surprise questions). He's hilarious and gives feedback quickly.
Amazing prof. Great lecturer. Very clear and encouraging.
Fantastic lecturer for introductory biology. He truly conveys just how passionate he is about the subject, while being hilarious and sarcastic. Love the guy, wish I could have him as a prof again in the future!
He is very stubborn and everyone acts like he's so nice but in reality, he is very rude. I had asked him for help on my assignments and he had given me the wrong information and gone back on his word. I would not recommend taking him as a prof.
Amazing prof, and is very engaging. I was not super interested in the topics he was teaching for this course, but he made it interesting. Has great notes, and explains the concepts very well. Also answers questions thoroughly to clear up any confusion.
He was a horrible professor. Extremely insensitive and to student situations. For the course coordinator, he was very unaccomodating. He would also never reply to any emails and the emails he would send out would be extremely rude and insensitive even if the whole class was negatively affected. As a prof he was quite boring and didnt engage us.
He is both the coordinator + one of the many profs for this course, but he definitely was one of the better ones. He used relevant examples from news today to relate to the lecture, and uses goofy phrases to keep us interested. In other words, he's the opposite of bland. The topic was meh, but he made it fun. Would totally another sci class w him.
Dr Huddleston is really good. I think he taught his unit of BIOL241 really nicely and he was engaging and at times funny LOL. He responded to my emails very kindly and was very accommodating, I really appreciate him for that. He made me feel welcomed and embraced through emails I feel like. He's a great guy, definitely recommend him!
William is a great lecturer who explains the material very well and in a simple manner. He's funny and was a lot more engaging than the other biology profs. However I just found that his feedback wasn't very helpful and displayed no empathy. I made a mistake uploading a lab and he didn't let me resend it and didn't respond to emails with other Qs.
Huddleston is a great course coordinator and professor for Biology 241. He is super forgiving about needing to reschedule unit tests (I had to miss an exam for a funeral on short notice). He really cares about his students and all of the profs that rotate through BIOL241 were just as great as him.
Great course coordinator + one of the best profs of bio241. Lectures were extremely clear and I did the best on his topic test. He was very good at accommodating for students and answers emails very quickly.
Dr. Huddleston was the course coordinator and taught the last bit of the course. He was decently helpful and replied to my emails however was relatively insensitive to student situations in my experience. He lacked a lot of flexibility so don't expect him to be overly helpful in that area. Lectures were quite good though and info was very organized
Dr. Huddleston was so understanding and a great prof. A little bland at times but really knows his stuff!
THE GOAT OF MICROBIO. Without a doubt one of the most skilled lecturers thus far in my uni career. He cares about his students and is passionate about the material. Exams were mostly fair, final was hard but questions were reasonable. Friendly with second years, but be warned that he's tough on first year students and doesn't like pushback
(spring class so ofc condensed and heavier workload) I feel that his lectures weren't that great and were surface-level. The content itself is fine, but he isn't very engaging as profs I've had in the past. The marking scheme isn't the greatest back in person (he's the course coordinator and sets these %'s and answer keys in lab assignments)
A real one
Dr. Huddleston is so awesome!!! I learned to love bio after his class. I had him for the first half of the semester before the prof changed, but I really wish he was there to teach us the whole course. He is honest in telling us what we need to know for exams and what is just extra information. Also his lectures are really funny and interesting!
Absolutely love this guy not just as a professor but as a person too. Wish I could be his friend. For BIOL 241, start studying early for the midterms there's a lot of content.
Very nice guy and helpful when you ask questions. Have to go to lecture as he only posts partial notes which are filled in in-class.
His lectures were amazing, you can tell he's wicked smart and he answers students' questions very well. He made the expectations for the course very clear. Anyone who pays attention to what he says in lectures, and reads the textbook will do well. I would recommend the textbook as it really helped solidify my understanding of the material.
Bill is very lovely to have as a professor, open to questions, has a good personality and teaches well! :)
Professor Huddleston definitely tries to engage students in his lectures and make himself available outside of class for office hours. There was some times that he went over lecture content very quickly, so it was hard to grasp. However, he posted sample questions for the final which was very useful. The course average this semester was a C+.
He is a great prof. His lectures are great and engaging and he does a really good job of outlining the essentials of what you need to know for the midterm which makes preparing a lot easier. His lectures were essential to doing well in the course.
Bill is one of the best professors I've ever had the pleasure of being taught by. His lectures are very clear and concise. He's a funny guy who clears up any questions very well. You don't need to read the textbook for his exam, all the information needed is on the slides.
Passive-aggressive jerk. Doesn't have time to respond to emails for the life of him but does have the time to respond with "lol!" in the subject line I liked the fish guy Dr. Post better.
Huddleston seemed nice however you had to attend class to have all information. The slides he posted to D2L had lots of blanks that he would explain during the lecture. his slides seemed a little disorganized as we would talk about the same topics at multiple different points.
The lectures were really engaging, and he was very fun to listen to. My only complaint is that he had lots of fill-in-the-blanks in the power points, so if you missed class you wouldn't have good chunks of the information, but it definitely helped me stay focused more in class. Overall, I'd definitely recommend him.
As a person Huddleston is really nice and fun but the lectures were intense and the grade scale was not adjusted so it was a pain. The notes weren't all that great, it all went downhill after the first midterm which also was mediocre at best. Don't be a CMMB major.
Great prof. His lectures were so fun and he was so easy to get in contact with outside class and so helpful with answering questions. Really nice guy and made his lectures enjoyable. This class was very tough, but everything was fair game, never tested on anything not taught, just a high grade scale (how is an A a 90 for this but a 86 for 331)?
I didn't enjoy Huddleston as a lecturer. His lectures were often very dry and full of fill-in-the-blanks style notes. However, the blanks were often not key terms or concepts that would be tested later on. Exam practice question bank was outdated, obviously lazily recycled from a past year. Not sure why people rave about his lectures so much.
Very engaging professor but very challenging given that I didn't feel the practice quizzes reflected the level of difficulty of the exams.
The best. I cried when he left us :(
such a nice and funny prof and explained the concepts really well!
His full name is William R. Huddleston, but I call him Dr. Huddleston out of my massive respect for the man. He is hilarious in lectures, personable and invested in his students in BIOL 241. He is very available for students, with easily accessible office hours. Overall a legendary dude, and his 5/5 rating on rate my prof shows it.
Awesome prof, super caring and his lectures were fun. He is also very understanding as well. I highly recommend him. Super awesome guy!
Mr Huddleston was an amazing professor for this class. His lectures are always engaging, and he cares about his students. I had complications with one of my midterms where I wrote down the wrong test version, and he was kind enough to fix it for me so my grade was saved. He is fast to give back tests and assignments. Overall, great professor!
Took BIOL 205 as an option with Bill this semester and enjoyed it. He is a really engaging professor and is sure to clearly answer questions in class, as well as respond to emails fairly quick. Very kind and creates a welcoming class environment. Would highly recommend taking class with him.
Dr. Huddleston (not actually a Dr but he has earned that title and the respect of everyone of his students) is an amazing professor and a very funny person. His lectures are great and taught the materiel extremely well! Great guy, highly recommended.
Prof Huddleston is an awesome professor. He explains the material extremely well and keeps you very engaged. He's also really funny and always answers questions very clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. I hope to have him again as a prof!
I love this prof so much! He explains the material very well, is passionate, and answers questions thoroughly. I also thought the assignments were pretty fun. Try not to miss a lecture though, as you may miss a lot of info that isn't on d2l but other than that, Huddleston is amazing! Would highly recommend.
Professor Huddleston is super nice and caring, the class was very easy if you put in the work. However, he went over the slides a little fast at times.
Funny and entertaining lectures that covered all the course material in simple terms.
He teaches the material very well and makes lectures enjoyable. I definitely recommend taking his class!
Lectures are fill-in-the-blank and incredibly informative. He is great at answering questions and has such a gentle nature. Huddleston is kind and HILARIOUS! He made bio very entertaining and informative. Very knowledgable and compassionate prof who wants his students to succeed. Take him when you can! One of the best profs UOC has. Inspirational!
AMAZING! He presented all the lectures clearly, concisely, and said in lecture what you needed to know for the exam. Notes are also clear if you miss lecture, but lecture is VERY helpful for the exam. Midterm was easy if you STUDIED HARD and memorized the pathways (mentioned in lecture). Would even recommend this class as an option.
Avoid like the plague. Probably from upper midwest due to insanely passive-aggressive personality, wrote extremely rude emails even if the whole class had to have class cancelled, never replied to emails, went back on class promises, bullied me for my disabilities, and bullied me further with pseudo non-academic misconduct reports, all around boo
I am not a science major, just took this to get my science requirements for my degree. But MAN! this prof had me convinced that I could become a biologist. 10/10 so good, you MUST attend every class though so you can learn content. No textbook needed. He was a pleasure and I would definitely take another bio class with him just for fun. Thanks Prof
The class was that nice, make sure when studying to not mix any terms as that's what stopped me from getting a better grade. Not a science major but taking it in spring made me believe that I could've been one...not really. Best of luck!
He's a good lecturer, funny guy. I wouldn't say you need to go to class to do well in class, just study the notes and do practice. tests are easy, but he was the lab coordinator and the labs were taught awfully, lab write ups every week they were marked hard imo, lab final was also very hard imo
easy class, awesome prof
Professor Huddleston makes the class engaging and informative. Attend every lecture to stay on top of the content. While the material can be challenging, using resources like unstuckstudy ai for study prep really helps. Overall, a great class with a caring professor.
Makes the class a lot easier to digest, despite the course being quite heavy in material.
Passionate about all that he teaches, integrates jokes into his lectures, lightens the mood this way, especially when topics become a little complicated. Explains everything thoroughly, often goes over material through quick "refreshers", connecting info and giving us general overviews. Im satisfied that he posts a lot of optional extra resources.
Professor Huddleston was by far one of my favourite professors. To be honest the course was a little bit harder than I was expecting but he did a really good job during lectures, and provided a lot of review. He is also very funny and makes the topic interesting.
Lectures were easy to follow and he made it very clear what we needed to know for the midterm. Funny and lighthearted so the class was quite engaging.
His lectures are easy-ish to follow if you are paying attention. It's good to have the textbook for extra review for the midterm. Would take the course again with him as the prof
he is my king is my pookie.
Amazing prof Quite enthusiastic about answering questions, The best notes of all profs. LOVE YOUUUUUUU
Very nice prof and passionate about his subject which shows in his lectures. Easy to follow along and understand what he is talking about
Huddleston is an okay prof. It was difficult to follow him during lectures and he goes fast through slides; he gives and implication of do not ask questions. He might be a good prof at higher classes but this class he was not at the level in my opinion.
Lectures were organized, engaging, and easy to study from. I like his teaching style a lot and found that many of the topics I struggled with in high school biology became a lot clearer to me. He honestly sparked an interest for me in cellular biology as I found his portion of the class so interesting and understandable.
Other reviews sum up pretty well, Huddleston is a wonderful prof, his lectures are easy to follow and concise. He clearly writes down exactly what you need to know for assessments
He isn't absolutely miserable like so many other profs are, so his lectures are actually fun 2 attend. He keeps students engaged w/ his silly jokes & the party (midterm) he invited us 2 after he was done his part of the course was aight. Real chill guy, I'm glad I'm in CMMB bc it means I could have another class w/ him besides 243. Great notes too.
Amazing bio teacher, taught concepts well and in an engaging way, learned a lot. Thank you for the first half of the semester! I will say though GO IN TO REVIEW YOUR LAB EXAM!!!!! There were many marking mistakes from my TA, and I was able to recover 11% on the lab exam (1.1% of the final course mark).
Such a great prof, clear and so helpful. Super funny as well. Attend the lectures and use the textbook when needed.
Very smart, very funny, very clear. Amazing prof!
Had him for 241 and his section was the only one I understood. Same sentiment with 243. He's a little more straight to the point so studying his material is pretty easy. I can see why some people think he goes too fast but I preferred that rather than feeling like I'm falling asleep in his class. Overall, my favourite bio professor so far.
Really great guy! Made the midterms pretty easy as long as you kept up with your work and reviewed throughout the semester. Highly recommend!
He is so nice and understanding, and the best prof I have ever had. This class is definitely a lot of content but he makes it really organized and if you study the notes well you will do well. Would love to take a class with him again, amazing all around!!
He's truly one of the best professors at UCalgary! He genuinely cares about his students and their well-being. Although the course itself was a beast, his lectures were always clear and informative, and the midterms were extremely fair. Protect this man at all costs!!!!!!
So knowledgeable, clear, and engaging. Hard to imagine a better prof.
Many students this term are dissatisfied with their marks because of their own lack of time management in a SPRING CLASS. The class was very fair. Learning objectives were defined at the start of every lecture, and the exams solely covered material based on those. Evidently some students did not study and are blaming Huddleston's “tough marking”.
Took him for spring. Teaching style is great. Lectures cover everything on tests, however taking it as a spring course and it being an intro course, he does mark a tad bit harshly but nothing too crazy. If u put in the work you'll be better than ever. Some people assume it to be a "easy course" and take it lightly then proceed to rate it down.
Great professor, he is very kind and really cares about his students. Unfortunately, some of the midterm/exam questions felt more like a riddle than a biology problem. Make sure to brush up on those reading comprehension skills before taking this class.
He's a great prof, the exams and assignments were marked a bit harshly if I'm being honest, but if you put in the work, it'll show. He's super nice and will elaborate on things if you ask!
Huddleston manages to take some of the most interesting subjects and concepts in biology and make them infinitely boring. He drones on and on in the lecture hall at a vibration that is certain to put you to sleep if not make you question your life choices. biology can be so much better.
Unbelievable Mate. Some of these good reviews are not even real lowkey.
2 midterms and 1 final. If you email the professor regarding grades he will say "missed an easy question or you should have known this." If you are going to ask a question ask a another student first because of the way he responds. Attend the lectures because it will be on the quizzes. DO NOT take this course unless you have to.
He is excellent at understanding first year students and where their understanding/skills lie. Very accessible outside of class/lecture and approachble. Is more than willing to re-explain concepts and answer questions without any judgement. Lectures go at the perfect speed where they are not too slow and often slimpited to what you need to know.
He is a "genius", but he doesn't know how to teach at all. The class is just reading the slides, which are hard to understand. If you have choices, take another professor's class. Btw, from my perspective, he is rude.
Prof Huddleston is a nice guy, but is pretty weak as a prof. Weird lectures designed around a useless textbook the he makes you buy. Marking is unnecessarily subjective and difficult, making his sections have relatively low averages.
He explains topics really well. The lectures are interesting and he has a good sense of humour.
Great prof always entertaining, knows what he's talking about!!
I had heard good things about Huddleston, but I now wish I had dropped his class and gotten my money back. Lectures are plain bad, boring. I stopped going after he spent half a class repeating the same thing about a straight line graph. For those who praise him for curving test grades by 20%, that means everyone did bad on the tests.
Hilarious guy, teaches concepts well. All his lectures are pretty organized.
I enjoyed attending these lectures. The professor was funny and explained concepts very well. Additionally, he pointed out topics or concepts that might appear on midterms/final, which I found was very helpful.
